Gone Fishin' 2.0

This set serves as both an streamlining update to the original files, as well as adds in being able to source items from the sea and to make productive farming situations as well.

Changes from Gone Fishin' 1.0

Optimization of textures: most made smaller, many items repositoried.

Food Points Amounts: All fish used to be worth the same amount of food points. Now they are varied depending upon fish size.

All items unlocked in the catalog for purchase if so desired.

Modern Rods included in separate folder - Shares GUIDs with simple rods; Choose One Type

Converter Crates/Fish Stand have been converted to decorative (requested per beta testers) as their functions have been combined to a new station, they share the same GUIDs as the original versions.

Filet knife has been eliminated from the set, as it's function has been put into the new station.

NEW: Cleaning & Packing station; allows packing of fish crates and butchering of fish.

NEW: Traps; Passive allocation of various fresh water or salt water creatures.

NEW: Tidepools: Quick forage spots for various ocean resources

NEW: Farming Tank: Make various fish, sea critters, and even seaweed renewable resources right at home. A glass recolor of BB Niches is included for making glass walled tanks.

This fishing set is intended to allow a sim to catch a variety of fish based on their body skill rather than their badge skill/season/bait type used. Of course all fishers have good days and bad days so they may also pull up some trash, seaweed or some treasure along with the intended catch.

Key Features:

Bait Sources - To fish, one needs bait. Fresh water fish use worms, and salt water creatures prefer small bait fish. These can also be used as Fish Food for farming. If a sim is super desperate, they are worth 1 food point if stocked to the fridge.

Fish Anywhere, Anytime Spots - Comes in fresh water and salt water variations. Works in all seasons, can be used by multiple sims at the same time. All fish are worth a variety of food points based on size and they can be added directly to the fridge or butchered.

Fish Traps - These are passive traps that run every 3 hours (tunable). They must be baited to function and sometimes come up with nothing.

Tidepools - A great place to forage for mollusks, shells, and other small sea critters and salt water foragables.

Farming Tank - Gather the needed materials and creatures to start farming them rather than relying on chance. Fish, mollusks, shrimp, and seaweed can all be grown. Rather than any particular type of fish, sims will received "Farmed Fish". A glass recolor of BB Niches is included for making glass walled tanks. A decorative protective net object can be called onto the Farm Tank.

Cleaning & Packing Station - This all in one station now takes the place of the previous converters and filet knife. All fish except Tuna and Swordfish can be packed into crates, as well as Lobsters, Crabs, and Fish Filets.

When a fish is butchered on this station, it produces Fish Filets that are worth 1 food point a piece. Sims receive as many that a fish raw stocked is worth, plus an additional filet. With certain traits, sims can gain more.

Displays - The Fish Crate Display and Fishing Rod are back, but have been repoed to the Cask Shelf now to save space.

Tools - The fishing rod tool allows for autonomous fishing while the new pole net is required for farming and other actions.

Day 361

I went for my shoe fitting today, and next week I’ll get my new shoes. I’m so excited. There was a bit of nervousness in seeing what they looked like because I haven’t gotten a colour other than black in years. A large part of this has to do with the fact I only get boot style shoes. This is more of a safety thing for me than anything else.

The primary reason why I wear a brace and have boots is because of a weak ankle that will turn inwards. So I’m a bit of a hazard to myself.

But the really fun bit was spending time with my mom, since I needed a ride to the shoe fitter. Since it was early afternoon, my mom suggested lunch. We shared a pasta and a dessert at a franchise joint that we haven’t been to since Covid (probably). The dessert was great, but very Canadian seeing as it was an ice cream sandwich, but instead of cookies they used butter tarts. Still, it was great, and surprisingly not too sweet, 10/10 would do it again.

And we might do it again next week since I have to go pick up my shoes.

Anyways, we still had time to kill after lunch so mom suggested we wander around Homesense. To anyone who hasn’t been in a Homesense, or a shop similar to it, it is a place to fill your home with things both useful and decorative, which means it tends to be a weird catch all place to shop. A good place to shop if you need to buy a gift and don’t know what to buy the person in question. Mom, being my ever loving enabler, directed me to the arts and crafts section of the store.

They didn’t have the kind of crafting I did (and I already had some high quality notebooks I should use first), but I did see drawers. And then I remembered, I needed to buckle down and rearrange my crafting stuff because I had started shoving it into spare shipping boxes and then dumping them into my bookshelf. So I grabbed a drawer meant for art supplies but it was wide and deep enough for my washi tape. My mother, seeing this and delighted that I’m doing something that requires me to clean up, then directed me to this other drawer set. I hummed and hawed and decided yes, I needed this too and I will find a place for it.

I had spent 3 hours cleaning out my bookshelf, unplugging my printer, putting away CDs into a box that will probably get donated and then went about putting away all my art and craft items properly. I now have a drawer just for washi tape, a drawer just for stickers (which is a terrifying thing to say), and I now have a smaller drawer set for material paper… or… I’ll start collecting stamps and ink pads, that decision is kind of up in the air right now.

But at least now I have room, we’ll see how long that lasts.

I haven't scanned the previous two issues (yet) because there's nothing too exciting in them. This time there's a lot of coverage of their Fan Club events and a huge interview with Yuki Kajiura and Yasunori Mori (Mr. M - Yuki's manager).

I've learned so much about Yuki reading through this interview. Most of it is probably common knowledge to longtime Yuki Kajiura fans but I've always focused on Kalafina so I am by no means an expert when it comes to Yuki herself. I initially started reading this to find out whether they would say something interesting about Kalafina but they didn't really. Of course there was a substantial section dedicated to them but it was mostly stuff we already knew. As for Yuki, I particularly liked the part where they talked about their very first years together, how she and Mori met and how Yuki ended up signing up with Space Craft in 1993. I had no idea she had such a rough start to her career. Apparently no one was interested in See-Saw's music in the 90s because it was too hard to sing. That's one of the main reasons Chiaki Ishikawa decided to pursue a solo-career instead. During the first few years, she was still living with her parents, taking on part-time jobs and living off of roughly a thousand dollars a month from her music, making much less than during her previous job as office worker. Yuki praises Mori and Space Craft for always having her back, for being straightforward with her, for never making any false promises, for having enormous patience with her, for never forcing her to take on work that didn't interest her, for ensuring she was able to gain experience and steadily build a solid catalog for herself instead of smothering her with countless job offers just to milk her. She didn't get a good gig until 1998 when she was offered to do the soundtrack for a Playstation series called "Yarudora - Double Cast". Her earlier jobs hadn't brought in a lot of money but since the game was distributed by Sony she got to sign a very lucrative royalty contract (according to Yuki, Sony are apparently very adamant about music creators beings paid fairly). From then onwards, she was free of all her debts. Her next big breakthrough was her collaboration with Yuuka on Gundam SEED. Yuki says that if "Akatsuki no Kuruma" hadn't been such a huge hit, she would never have been offered the Kara no Kyoukai project which ultimately resulted in the birth of Kalafina.

Those of you who have been around for a while know that I've always been somewhat of an advocate for Space Craft and this interview just enforces my opinion of them. They have done some shitty stuff of course but overall they are pretty decent as far as Japanese talent agencies are concerned. Yuki then goes on to talk about her strong desire to remain at Space Craft for however long it would take to repay all the kindness that she received. That might explain why she was with them for such a long time (she signed up with them back in 1993)

Regarding Kalafina, here are some of the highlights:

Sony was close to despair when they held their audition for Kalafina because none of the singers had the necessary skill-set to sing Yuki's music which is pretty much how Wakana and Keiko got their appointed positions (because they had already had experience working with her)

Maya was eventually deemed unfit for this type of work because she was still in high school at that time

Kalafina was Yuki's all-time favourite project because she got to do whatever she wanted. There were no taboos whatsoever. Even when it came to tie-ins and insert songs, she had a lot of creative freedom because most of the creators in charge trusted her judgement.

I wish they had at least mentioned Yuki's departure from Space Craft and the "disbandment" but I guess they didn't wanna go there...

Flowing Fabrics

This set followed the simplified processes of turning wool all the way into garments for sims to purchase. They will have to collect, clean and weave wool into thread and fabric. If they'd like to take their craft a step further they can gather natural sources of dyes and extract them to then dye their fabrics. With access to fabric bolts they may make garments and if they also have access to materials such as tanned leather products and fur they can make a wider variety of garments.

This is one of the more intertwined and advanced Sun&Moon sets, requiring quite a bit of other sets to function. Please read the manual carefully to understand what is needed for all parts of production and smooth functioning.

Key Features:

Wool Cleaning Vat - Clean wool to be spun. Produces Clean Wool.

Wool Winder - Turn clean wool into thread. Produces Thread Spools.

Standing Loom - Turn thread in solid sheets. Produces Fabric Bolts

Dye Extractor Pot - Extract natural dyes from various plants. Produces Bottled Dyes.

Fabric Dyeing Vat - Dye plain fabric. Produces Dyed Fabric Bolts

Sewing Workspace - Turn thread, fabric bolts, tanned leather, leather strips and cured fur into clothing. Produces Functional Blankets and Wardrobe Grants.

Functional Blankets - Main texture source for Sun&Moon fabrics moving forward. Functions as a radiator, allowing sims to warm up when their temperature is low enough.

Wardrobe Grants - The end product of the process, these serve to be used by sims so they can add a garment to their wardrobes, simulating a purchase of an outfit or a self made finished project.

Skilling Objects - Dress Forms; sims can gain charisma or mechanical skills.

All Fabric Bolts come in 7 fabric textures and 16 colors.

Display Shelves - Three varieties; Tall, Short, and Short With Shelf.

Tools - A pair of shears helps with dealing with wool, thread and fabric and a botanicals book helps the dye making process.
