the whole concept of a post that's "things copia canonically likes" is sort of making me lose it because i set up a parameter for myself that's "copia has to explicitly state a preference or use an adjective that indicates an opinion in order for it to count." but now i have a list that's just, like, men's underwear ("hot"), cities in the state of washington ("[people who live in washington] have pretty cities"), moac ("actually quite good" after calling it shitty), and taints (too many examples to count).

there's speculation that can be done with some stuff other characters say (imperator says she ordered copia's "favorite" and it's chinese takeout, but do we trust what imperator says?). there are things we see copia doing that imply enjoyment (tricycle, playing video games). there are negative opinions expressed that imply other positive ones (does not want a tesla, presumably prefers his current car). there are adjectives that do not necessarily imply preference, but could if you squint ("my nose is now very delicate," "overdone" chin).

there is even broader speculation that can be done with costuming choices (implication that prequelle suits were predetermined, as he just needed to "be fitted for [his] new suits" in ch2, but the variation in costumes for imperatour and departure from the norms can imply he had some say there). there are recurring fashion motifs like bat wings that could imply a preference, but again, only if we assume copia has some say in the imperatour costumes.

and then there's that goddang halloween quiz which, if it is indeed an accurate reflection of preferences, nearly doubles the number of things copia definitely canonically likes.

"Let people enjoy things" is usually said about flawed media, but I think it needs to be said more about "pretentious" or "unorthodox" things. I so often see people say that people are just pretending to like things (or sometimes not like things) because they want to feel special. Which might be true on the rare occasion, but a) people are most likely just stating their opinion and b) even if they are pretending... why care, honestly? I get the impulse to think someone is lying, I often have it; I probably have at some point(s) myself said that someone is just pretending to like X. But we need to get beyond the impulse that just because we don't get something, nobody else could never possibly get it.

I also think that it's a good thing that people seek out different things, outside of the mainstream. "High art" things. "Weird" things. "Unorthodox" things. "Quirky" things. Things from an "unusual" place. Especially since often things that are not from a wealthy English speaking country are sometimes thought to be "inherently" pretentious or strange or unusual or whatever which a) is just not true b) why should we limit ourselves to certain cultures?

The world is just more interesting the more variety people enjoy. And we should encourage people to seek out new stuff. Seek out things just because the genre seems cool or because one has never experienced something in a specific language or from a certain culture before. Let the world widen. And let people enjoy things that you just don't understand. It's nice when a lot of people enjoy the same thing and can bond over it. It's also nice when someone discovers something completely new and want to share it, regardless of whether other people can share in their enthusiasm or not.

#had I not myself set a goal that roughly 50% of #the movies I watch this year should be in another language than English #there's some really great stuff I would probably not seen #e.g. corpus christi 2019 #or The Battle of Algiers 1966 #or quo vadis aida 2020 #and that would just be such a shame #there's also a bunch of mediocre stuff I wouldn't have seen #but I've a bunch of mediocre stuff in English this year too so

Dearest @i-want-my-iwtv thank you for tagging me! I love to do this kind of tag games. How lovely to see an animation included, I chose one as well. I’m a big fan of TV series and especially German ones so there are few of them. Old and new productions. 🤓

1. Babylon Berlin (2017-2021): What a way to introduce us the reality of post war era in Weimar Germany. Class society, political wars, war traumas and in the midst of all this are crimes to be solved. Perfect ending titles. 2. Anders als die Andern (1919): The film is one of the first sympathetic portrayals of homosexuals in cinema. Released on May 28 1919, when German Republic was only 6-months-old. Young Conrad Veidt in the leading role. 3. Halt and Catch Fire (2014-2017): I’ve only seen season 1, but it already proved how effective it is when all the drama happens around one thing, in this case the evolution of home computers. Talented cast and script. Lee Pace is horrifyingly ravishing. 4. Viktor und Viktoria (1933): Best musical ever! The humor of the director & screenwriter Reinhold Schünzel, who teases us with the gender role-playing and cross dressing. 5. Das Boot (2018-2022): Imo Germans are the best storytellers of WWII and the N*zi regime so this show is one of the good examples to watch. 6. The Red Shoes (1948): Powell’s & Pressburger’s finest. The first 15 min nailed me and made me wonder why on Earth haven’t I seen this before. 7. Aladdin (1992): The message of the film ‘be yourself’ has always pleased me among all that Oriental beauty & magic. I draw the characters as paper dolls back then. 8. The Thief of Bagdad (1940): When the villain (elderly Conrad Veidt) is far more attractive than the hero. Beautiful Technicolor adventure film. 9. Corpus Christi (2019): Is both innocent and funny but also terrifying and sad. Opens up the religious side of the society. Polish language is my ASMR. December - The Dagger squad becomes a permanent strike team at NAS North Island, California. Willow steps back from flying missions to be a Top Gun Instructor. Jake and Willow begin trying for baby #2.

2021

November - Beckett Walker Seresin is born!

2025

April - Willow and Jake celebrate 20 years together, 11 years married.

May - Ellorie turns 12.

June - Jake deploys for 12 months. Willow, Bradley and kids take a trip to Virginia Beach to pack up Carole’s house. Willow is called to lead a mission from NAS Oceana.

Thank you Plavi! I usually just post art and don't talk a lot, so this might be nice for a change! It makes me feel pretty nostalgic, games like this were going on all the time on deviantart 10+ years ago

1. Top 3 ships: Aside from my own OCs, Zagreus x Thanatos (Hades) might just be my favourite (Zagreus is almost as oblivious as me haha), other than that I really like the idea of Nyx x Persephone (also Hades). Also maybe Canach x Pact Commander? (GW2) Canach reminds me of my partner a LOT in some aspects so he has a special place in my heart

2. First ship: I can't remember for the life of me, my whole childhood is very foggy tbh

3. Last song: Reptile - Nine Inch Nails

4. Last movie: not 100% sure, I mostly watch series lately, last one I remember is Corpus Christi (2019)

5. Currently reading: Rip It Up and Start Again: Postpunk 1978–1984 by Simon Reynolds (actually re-reading it after like 9 years) I love postpunk as a whole and I'm a bit into modern music history, so I'm just really glad this book exists. Postpunk is very often neglected/forgotten when people write about music, and to have a well-written, accurate book written by someone who was there at the time and clearly cares about the subject is amazing!

6. Currently watching: Better Call Saul / Castlevania: Nocturne, only just started Castlevania, in love with the character designs , obsessed with Edouard already... I NEED him to get a happy ending ;_;

7. Currently consuming: Pumpkin gnocchi with spinach and garlic, recipe if anyone wants it! I sometimes sub the all-purpose floor for 1:1 mix of potato or tapioca starch and rice flour and it turns out great!

8. Currently craving: the coffee that my partner just brewed that is right there next to me but I will feel like crap if I drink too much

I have decaf too and it's still pretty good but it's not the same thing, even the best decaf tastes a bit flat compared to regular coffee :<

edit: guess I'm gonna feel like crap later today, coffee was delicious though
