Ok so 

In this au, the world of splatoon has leaned into music a lot more and it’s the typical industry young inklings and octolings go into rather than turf wars.

Ofc the original idols and bands still exist, there’s just a lot more now

Some coroika characters work with their team as a band, and others are independent artists who occasionally collaborate with other people

They probably all have separate band names but I don’t wanna think of themmmm

Team Blue - an up and coming pop band trying to make a name for themselves. They kind of suck but they’re trying ok 

Headphones - lead singer

Goggles: backup singer/guitarist

Bobble Hat - Drums

Specs: keyboard

The S4 - a group that formed out of a collaboration with some of the most popular musicians inkopolis. Their music styles clash in a way that produces a unique and chaotic sound. They don’t get along very well, which is the reason why they don’t do live shows together. Ever since Rider collaborated with them, they’ve also been referred to as the S5. Don’t ask me what the s is for here I don’t know 

Army - classically trained and leader of a band who make instrumental music with a strong and prominent bass line (courtesy of B-Sailor, their bassist). Plays mainly piano but also knows violin. He has a great ear and can play a piece just from hearing it. 

Aloha - Independent artist who often collaborates with a small group. Doesn’t play any instruments, but has a killer voice. Makes high energy pop songs perfect for dancing, which he exhibits during performances. Also has the largest social media presence, often meeting and taking photos with fans in public. 

Mask - also an independent artist who produces electronic music (but specifically resembling real world artists such as odetari and 6arelyhuman). His voice is always auto tuned to the max, but he has an iconic drawl that’s easily recognizable. 

Skull - leader of an alternative rock band, playing the drums. Was thinking bass guitar but the s4/5 need a percussionist so…drums. Maybe he can also play the bass, who knows. Doesn’t do live shows very often. He and his lead singer, Aviators, used to be part of a band with Vintage and Omega of X-Blood. 

Rider - PUNK ROCK!! An independent artist known for his brash vocals and long guitar solos. Had collaborated with his own group and the s5 before. Has been trying to teach Goggles more guitar techniques, but has learned that Goggles doesn’t really care if his playing kind of sucks.

What’s this musician AU you’ve got here??

IM SO GLAD U ASKED

Essentially all of our blorbos are in various musical groups/solo acts. and its very fun

-Goggles is some sort of pop idol. Not unlike Callie + Marie except on his own

-Rider's a musical duet with his sister Cherry- they do a lot of punk rock stuff and also a lot of gay songs. Like. think Girl in Red but mixed with set it off and also songs about gay men and lesbians

-The S4 all together are a sort of anonymous band but they also have their own thing going on. While in the band, Army uses the alias Vixen, and outside of it he's an actor, singing in loads of musicals n shit

-Aloha, in the S4 band, is known as Siren. On his own, he's another pop star. While Goggles is more like. sweet happy songs, Aloha is the more sultry side. Think Chrissy Chalpeka (that how i spell their name?) or some of Lady Gaga's stuff

-Mask, in the S4 band, is known as Witch. Outside of it, she's a streamer who normally does like. average gamer things. But she sometimes produces her own music on stream. On occasion she sings but often times she'll just make the actual music

-Skull, in the S4 band, is known as Dragon. Outside of it, he sings a lot of folk and traditional Norse music. Like, the Oh Hellos mixed with the Crane Wives, mixed with SKALD

-Avi helps Skull make his music by playing the guitar. He's very good at it.

-Gloves is what happens when you mix Cosmo Sheldrake with Will Wood and add a touch of Cavetown to it

-Emperor is. something. Britney Spears but a manwhore i guess? best way to explain it

-Prince and Regent aren't singers but they both make music- just not what youd expect. Prince likes making a bunch of punk rock or just grunge music in general and Regent prefers more... bubblegum pop

-Vintage isnt a musician but he can play the harp and its a nice passtime for him

D&D Coroika Character Guides : S4

You all brought forth my hand and I will unleash this au by first introducing the cast. I've decided to not start with blue team and instead start with the group I have blatant favoritism towards.

Skull - Dragonborn Ranger ( Blue dragonborn subrace / Hunter subclass. )

Quite airheaded for a dragonborn, Skull is still a respectable leader of the band of misfits he has brought together. He has stated he left a group of adventures behind after a major falling out but is often unwilling to further elaborate on the incident. He sees his party as his clan and will fight bow and breath weapon in order to keep them safe under his ever watchful eye. Despite appearing rather fearsome he does have a major sweet tooth which he attempts to hide whenever possible, unlike the facial scars he proudly shows as a sign of survival.

Mask - Wood Elf Cleric of Eilistraee

Mask is a lot more withdrawn than other elves, often preferring to stick to his travels in his duties as a cleric. He doesn't let his feelings out much, having lots he wishes to hide for personal reasons so that others won't be burdened by his issues. Despite this he does genuinely enjoy his life among his party, giving him a group which he feels he can call home. Given his task as a cleric , some can find him awake at late hours of the night seeking guidance from Eilistraee on where their travels should next bring them.

Aloha - Half-Siren Circle Of The Moon Druid

Child of a siren and a sailor, Aloha is an overly extroverted individual looking for anywhere he can find something interesting to do. Taverns tend to be his favorite part of any settlement, though one must be careful dealing with a druid capable of wildshaping after a night in the Tavern. Due to his heritage Aloha is limited to aquatically inclined creatures as forms he can wildshape into, with a particulary strange form of his being that of a whale. He often acts as the morale booster of the party and this is greatly appreciated after long nights of travel.

Army - Human Dinivation Wizard

The son of the captain of a town guard, Army found himself discovering his unique magical aptitude at a young age. In particular he can perceive visions of potential futures that may or may not come, which will come to pass is never made clear until it happens. In fear that his home would be in danger if his power was discovered, Army fled his home gathering every tome he could in an attempt to gain control over his magical abilities, eventually meeting a certain dragonborn he agreed to travel with. Army is the planner of the group, often the one left to make decisions that require careful thought. Even with his poised and serious demeanor he hides paranoid thoughts regarding his visions and whether or not they will come to pass.

Coroika Pirate AU part 2 (?)

Alright we’re back again :D I have a bit more info on the pirate AU which I’m gonna ramble about ig 

Here is part 1 of the AU if you’d like to read that first! 

I didn’t really get a lot of other character sketches done, other than Rider--- So i guess in this post I’ll be talking about him & some other characters in this AU! :D There won’t be any drawings in this post unfortunately, just more stuff about the characters :’)

Rider:

I might try to make a full character thing eventually--- I just haven’t had the chance to draw it out. So, I guess I’ll post that separately :/ Anyways! 

He’s technically a part of the S4 pirates, but he’s not on board with them. He’s an ally to them, but they’re not in the same ship.

Captain of the Chartreuse Pirates, which are another band of fearsome pirates. He’s also friends with the Blue Pirates (Goggles, Bobble Hat, Headphones, Specs) 

The Chartreuse Pirates is such a cool name fr

Sworn enemies with Captain Gloves (it’s more of a rivalry between the two, nothing serious)

He’s also somewhat well known across the seas for being as strong as the S4 pirates 

So basically, he was captured by Emperor’s army (Emperor’s family rules a kingdom in this AU) and separated from his crew. He manages to escape with a few injuries. After running away for some time, he eventually collapses somewhere because of his injuries. Aloha finds him and recognizes him as Captain Rider. After asking Skull what they should do, they decided to bring him aboard since his crew was nowhere to be found.

Rider wakes up a few hours later and he freaks out because he’s in the middle of the ocean aboard Captain Skull’s ship and his crew probably thinks he died or something and now he’s probably going to actually die because Captain Skull whatever evil pirates grrr and he has no boat and he can’t swi--

Anyways, Rider tries to escape but you can’t exactly get too far with a twisted ankle. Aloha found it pretty amusing though, hysterical even. 

Mask manages to catch Rider, sits him down, and gets him to chill out. He explains what happened and a whole “we’re not gonna hurt you” spiel

Eventually the S4 helps Rider reunite with his crew and as gratitude, Rider and the S4 become allies and help each other out whenever one needs it.

Rider is trying to be a kinder person

He’s pretty good at playing cards, specifically Blackjack and Speed.

Gloves:

Captain of the Dualie Pirates, a crew of pirates known for using two weapons. Two swords or two guns-- because they’re cool like that B) 

Captain Gloves is fairly new to the whole “pirate” biz, he thinks they’re cool and wanted in on the action overseas. 

He thinks Captain Skull is cool and wants to meet him someday, although his crew is HIGHLY opposed to this (they could probably die)

He also thinks the Wireglass Pirates are cool too and wants to be friends with their captain.

His crew also HIGHLY opposes this, as they are definitely going to die if they ever cross paths with the Wireglass Pirates. 

Gloves is bummed that he can’t meet the S4 pirates, but is still hopeful he’ll run into them eventually.

He’s friends with the Blue Pirates & Captain Hachi 

He’s fiercely competitive, he doesn’t take losing very lightly.

He doesn’t have any scars of his own-- yet, but he thinks they’re cool 

Gloves is friends with Prince, and sometimes sneaks into the kingdom to visit him 

He’s rather clumsy even though he tries to look cool

Emperor & Prince: 

(I put them under the same header since there’s not much about either of them) 

Emperor’s family rules over a kingdom, Emperor is next in line for the throne and he’s still learning to be a king alongside his younger brother.

Prince often sneaks out of the palace to wander around the town square. His brother actually knows about this, but chooses not to tell their parents. 

Emperor doesn’t really like pirates, but he does know a few of them. 

Emperor is aware that Gloves sneaks in to visit Prince, but he chooses not to do anything about it since his brother seems to enjoy Captain Gloves’ company.

Prince helped Rider escape after learning Rider knew Captain Gloves. 

The Wireglass Pirates: 

Everyone knows to stay out of the Wireglass Pirates’ way, as they are some of the most powerful pirates to patrol the waters. Even the S4 pirates steer clear of them. 

They supposedly got their name from their Captain, but it’s not really known where the name came from.

The Wireglass Pirates will try to take any ship they encounter, regardless of who it is. Very few survive their raids.

There are some rumors that the Wireglass Pirates serve Emperor, which explains why he hasn’t ordered anyone to stop them. However, it could also be because a lot of sailors are absolutely terrified of them.

Ocho is thought to be a part of this crew, but nobody really knows for sure. He’s mostly found away from the crew and hanging out by himself.

Ocho sometimes interacts with the S4 and Captain Rider. 

The S4 could probably beat them, but they don’t want to risk trying.

The Wireglass Pirates are also in possession of these things called “Black Labels” which temporarily disable weapons. But only the Captain is in possession of these. 

“Black Labels” are illegal and supposed to be outlawed in the seas. Not a lot of pirate crews use them. 

If Black Labels were stuck onto a pirate, they are unable to use their special ability for a little bit.

And it's a battle of the bands au!! So each team is some sort of music group fighting in their schools annual competition to see who wins & gets to preform at a big festival thingy. I haven't worked out everything yet considering I came up with it 30 minutes ago but uHm yesh :]

but ill share some extra details here

-If we're talking specific instruments for the gang i didnt elaborate on, for Cherry and Rider- Rider plays bass and Cherry plays electric guitar. they also both sing but thats another thing. i still dont have a name for their duet btw im taking suggestions 👀

-For the S4 band, Army is on keys, Aloha is on guitar, Skull plays bass, and Mask is the drummer. as they are an anonymous band and often distort vocals for it to be harder for people to figure out who they are

-yknow the hatsune miku set it off collab? yeah rider and goggles did that once. Goggles has a high enough voice for that

-One time at a concert Rider was introduced to the concept people wrote fanfiction about him and he took the time to remind everyone that he was a bottom and also trans. "if you're gonna be writing sexy fanfic about me at least make it accurate goddamnit"

-Skull and Avi are not out to the public about their relationship- not because they wanna hide it but because they want to see how long it is until they catch on that theyre married

D&D Coroika Au : Blue Team and Rider

So here they are , the main event of chaotic blue team , plus the paladin they drag along.

Goggles - Kobold Rogue ( Arcane Trickster Subclass )

The most chaotic member of Blue team by far, Goggles was initially reluctantly exiled from his pack of kobold due to his often disruptive antics going on for far too long. He has a surprising sense of humor for a kobold , often using his talents as a rogue to sneak up on others and mess around with them, though he can just as easily use the dagger he carries around. His party has taken on the role of his new " pack " and he makes sure to remind them of this, with Bobble being the one he is closest with. His goggles actually have a practical purpose ever since his exile given how sensitive kobold eyes are to the sun.

Bobble - Kenku Bard ( College of Valour )

Bobble is the living opposite of the typical perception of kenku, having no ill will towards anybody unless they do something truly terrible to those she cares about. This makes her different then most kenku since they typically only make commitments to preserving their own lives. She often breaks into song with the drums she carries on hand and her ability to mimic the voices of others, with Goggles joining in to create quite the cacophony. Her presence adds some noise to this party that one will not forget for a long, long time.

Headphones - Half-Elf Ranger ( Gloomstalker Subclass )

Headphones is a progidy with a bow and arrow, and a childhood friend of specs. She takes on a more protective role of the party, ready to let an arrow fly right at any potential ambush should the time come. Headphones is often annoyed by the antics of Goggles but things get quickly resolved with the unusual kobold, he's even taught her how to use smaller close ranged armaments in case she was ever cornered in a close range brawl. Given how half elves live in two worlds given their heritage, Headphones finds comfort in her found second family of eccentric folks.

Specs - Human Cleric of Mystra

As a cleric of Mystra, Specs often finds himself seeking out new knowledge of magic which leads him on his many travels with his childhood friend Headphones. These travels would eventually lead him to end up adding Bobble and Goggles to their ranks, forming what is practically a second family. Specs often carries around multiple scrolls so he can study and utilize various spells, along with various remedies in case his magic is ever depleted. He's often the planner of the party when it comes to making decisions, though these plans are usually disrupted by Goggles leading to plenty of improvisation.

Rider - Human Paladin of Bahamut

Formerly a lone wandering paladin only accompanied by his trusty Warhammer, a kobold related misunderstanding followed by an impromptu team up led to Rider being dragged along the travels by this merry band of adventurers. Given his worship of Bahamut he is rather knowledgeable of all manners of draconic creatures , though this still couldn't have prepared him for anything like Goggles. While he was rather cold with the party at first, a mutual respect was slowly formed and Rider slipped into a role as the protector of the group with his shield and hammer in hand. He may not admit it but after a while of traveling Goggles has said he's seen the paladin crack a few smiles here and there.

So here's the main party, let me know what characters you all may wanna see next in the au. If you want to make some fanart of my au then I'm cool with it , I haven't even got down definitive designs for most of the cast.

Coroika Pirate AU part 2.5(?) 3(?) I guess?

Hello hello! I’m back again with another infodump post :] I won’t really introduce any new stuff--- it’s mostly just extra information on pre-existing ones that I thought of. I also realized I never talked about Barreleye yet, so he’ll be here too!

OH! It’s also some background information that may come in handy for the written bits that I’ll hopefully have together--- sometime. Not really sure when.

Infodump after the cut! 

First off, I’d like to introduce a weapon I thought of a while back for this AU.

This is the Splatling Hook! :D Or at least, a concept sketch of it.

Hahaha get it, cause it’s a grappling hook-- and Splatoon---- I don’t know 😭 It’s the funniest thing I could think of 

I know, there’s already the splatlings :( but this one’s special aight

There are two versions, one that could be handled like your typical gun that fires a hook. This hook has a pointed end so it could be pretty brutal if you were hit by it.

It could also be mounted on the arm for easy use as well.

It could also be used for fishing I guess, since the rope is retractable--- but I wouldn’t say that’s its main use.

Alright back to some info dumps on characters! :D 

The X-Blood Pirates:

They go head-to-head with the S4 

Led by Captain Vintage and his crew of X-Blood pirates

Vintage stinky >:[ 

Captain Vintage has a scar on his face from a fight with Skull. 

Skull used to be in his crew, but the two got into an argument one day. Neither of them like talking about it. But, Skull ran away while the ship was docked at a port after taking some of Vintage's treasure.

Skull doesn't really like talking about what it was like being in Vintage's crew— although he's been asked a few times.

Vintage is a strict captain but takes pride in his crew. He's sometimes looking for new people to join the crew. He'll sometimes take desperate pirates that were captured by him. 

Vintage was the one who gave Skull the scars on his face 

Vintage is an exceptional swordsman and sometimes wields a splatling. 

Vintage is only interested in raiding other pirate crews and becoming the most feared pirate throughout the seas.

Once he's done with that, he's going to take the great treasure the Guardians are protecting. 

The X-Bloods are also very cocky and stuck-up. Whenever they conquer a pirate ship or it’s crew, they always leave an X-shaped scar that’s cut with a knife. 

Edgelords 🙄

Vintage wants some black labels from the Wireglasse Pirates, he doesn't want to make an alliance with them though— he thinks they're too emotional. 

The Wireglasse Pirates pt.2:

Consisting of 8Bit, Shady, Wireglasses, Ocho, + their teams from the manga.

Ocho is sometimes sent off to smaller villages to gather resources or information for the crew. By sometimes, I mean quite frequently

Sometimes 8-Bit is sent off to do this, it just depends on where.

Since they have an intimidating reputation, it's best if they split up to not scare anyone or cause any unnecessary trouble. 

They are in possession of the Rainmaker, a cannon that's capable of wiping out entire fleets in the blink of an eye. It rests on their ship's bow as a trophy.

Other pirates want the Rainmaker, but they're too intimidated to approach.

The Rainmaker is only used in cases of emergencies, they try not to use it because it may damage their own ship as well. 

The Rainmaker was stolen from another band of pirates that used it as a cannon.

The Wireglasse Pirates have no known allies, their captain prefers not to trust other pirate crews.

Captain Kaoss, or Captain Wireglass (either one is okie dokie) leads the crew with Ocho as second in command.  

Despite his ruthless appearance, the Captain cares about his crew quite a bit. He trusts them a lot and they trust him too. 

Shady is their marksman and navigator. 

Shady’s sniping skills are almost equally matched with Skull’s, it raises the question of who’s the better shot. 

The Wireglass Pirates are also technically friends with Barreleye’s crew. Pretty much they both agreed not to attack each other if they met at sea. 

They have no business fighting each other, plus some of their crewmates are friends-- so there’s that. 

The Barreleye Pirates:

I can’t believe I didn’t mention them sooner--- I’M SO SORRY BARRELEYE ❗❗

THE BARRELEYE PIRATES 🔥🔥 NOBLE WARRIORS OF THE SEA 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Yeah they’re pretty cool 

Consisting of Mitsuami, YARRwhal, Horn-Helmet, and Shellmet! (and their teams as well, minus Team Blue) 

I honestly might switch the names a bit but I’m not sure tbh.

I feel like I’m legally obligated to call him YARRwhal here since it’s a pirate AU and all/hj 

but at the same time... Captain Barreleye is a pretty sick name. For the sake of this post, I’m going to call him Barreleye. 

Anyways, they like using heavy machinery to fight such as blasters and splatlings.

Except for Mitsuami, she uses a tri-stringer! 

If they see their opponent doesn’t have a weapon, they refuse to fight unless their opponent has a weapon too. (They don’t really carry spares with them.) 

They also refuse to fight if it seems unfair. They want both sides to have fun. 

Barreleye was the one who told Captain Gloves about the Wireglass Pirates. 

They met in a cafe one time and Gloves asked him about being a pirate.

Barreleye and Gloves are friends, but they haven’t seen each other for a long long long time--- they hope to see each other while at sea or elsewhere.

I think Barreleye would freak out if he found out Gloves talked to Prince

Like the Blue Pirates, the Barreleye Pirates are not feared--- they are still pretty powerful but no one would feel uncomfortable/intimidated talking to the crew.

Mitsuami has never missed a shot, except for maybe 2 times. However, she doesn’t have as great of a range with the stringer.

Barreleye doesn’t like Hivemind. They’ve met once and it didn’t go all too well.

Mitsuami joined the crew because she loves the ocean. She really wanted to join a pirate crew and sail with some friends. Fortunately, Horn-Helmet was already a pirate at the time and introduced her to Barreleye.

Hivemind (extra stuff):

He brainwashed Emperor's parents to allow his crew to dock at their ports. 

This is also why other pirates have docked at the kingdom, since it's no longer enforced. 

Hivemind doesn't like to call himself a pirate. He calls his crew "The Great Hivemind Fleet"— but that's just a sugar-coated version of "Hivemind Pirates". 

Hivemind wants to have control over all of the strongest pirate crews and put an end to pirates altogether. 

Hivemind is manipulative and he sometimes doesn't wear his headset/change his ink color in order to fool others. 

He's had an encounter with the Blue Pirates, but didn't bother to sink their ship— as they didn't seem to put up much of a fight anyways. 

Once you're under his control, you usually can't break out of it yourself— unless you have really strong willpower or if you accidentally break Hivemind's headset.

Like I mentioned before he really really really really wants to go after the Wireglass Pirates, but it seems like they’re too difficult to find. He wants to know if they live up to their fearsome reputation and have them under his control.
