What does tfa Barricade's arm look like in your style? I saw you draw him before, but I'm curious on how his mutated arm or rather, injured arm would look like.

the way i would adapt something like that for a human design depends on its function in the story. is it an injury? did that injury involve cause limb loss? was it mutated by some kind of weird alien parasite? so here are three ways i would do it

Transformers Animated

I will suffer eternally knowing that the Complete Allspark Almanac exists and that I will most likely never ever get to have a copy. Because I did not know it was a thing when it was released in 2015 when there was other transformers continuity stuff out at that point. How could I have known??

THERE IS LORE I DON’T HAVE ACCESS TO IN THE FIRST TWO BOOKS I OWN.

Its my favorite Transformers continuity I just want the nice book.... ;o; Its so unfair...

Ah.

I bought the English release of the Dungeon Meshi Adventurer's Bible, and only JUST found out Japan released an updated, complete version. And now I'm curious if the US will also release that one and wondering if I should have held out?

I've been slowly reading the manga in my downtime and really enjoying that and the anime. Anything I like that has deep, worldbuilding supplementary books is going to get a purchase from me. So it's killing me that I may have to double dip for an updated version!

Then again, I literally did that with Transformers Animated's Allspark Almanac when they released a Complete Edition (and dear LORD, those books are exceptional and I mean, EXCEPTIONAL, supplementary materials), so never let it be said I am not obsessed.

A TFA version of Lost Light is so fun to me for two reasons:

Megatron isn’t a morally gray well intentioned extremist who really wants to redeem himself for his mistakes but a complete asshole and tyrant.

Primus doesn’t exist in that universe and because of this neither does Rung.

I love how authors try to work around those massive issues.

Hate to be that guy but Rung actually does exist in the TFA universe! There's a picture of him in the Allspark Almanac (on the menu of Maccadam's Old Oil House) and it's actually suggested on TFWiki that he'd have to have been fairly popular since he was on the menu! I like this since it suggests that if IDW Rung hadn't been hit by that forgetting-ray (don't remember its name) and people actually remembered him then he would have been popular and had a lot of friends!

First impression

So, I first met dear First Aid through fanfic. My impression of him was sweet uwu baby. You can fit so much trauma in him and he will still be a cinnamon roll.

Impression now

Having now met IDW1 Aid: He’s weird, and complaining about people is his love language. Despite being a medic, he really doesn’t handle death well. At least, not when he knew the patient. Probably a good thing he was posted on Delphi and not on a base where you know the soldiers. I could see this one killing people besides Pharma. He’s become more ruthless over the course of the series. Not cruel, just a direct point A to point B. Like door surgery.

Favorite moment

I don’t think I have one. There’s a lot that can be done with Aid, but his moments in MTME/LL (the only place I’ve seen him so far) tend to fade into the background. That being said, I think my favorite moment was when Velocity shared what he’d told her about Ratchet.

Idea for a story

So TFA First Aid, according to the Complete Allspark Almanac, is the medic version of Bumblebee’s frametype. He was picked for that reason by Sentinel Magnus to be a Protectobot, given a fancy badge and everything, because Sentinel wants his own version of Optimus’ crew. (He thinks it will make him more popular.)

I’d explore how his time working for Sentinel sucks. What it’s like to be living propaganda. His relationship with his fellow Protectobots, like Groove (motorcycle) the TFA Prowl stand in, and Hot Spot (firetruck), a war veteran meant to stand in for Optimus Prime.

Unpopular opinion

I think First Aid should have had his license temporarily suspended. His obsession with Ambulon’s body was a clear cry for help. He might have vehemently denied it, but Aid needed help. Ratchet should have, at the very least, required Aid to work with Rung. To actually get him to put in the work to deal with his issues, Ratchet should have probably suspended his license until Rung said he was actually working to improve. Sure, Aid would have probably had a temporary “I’ve given up” phase, but he’d get over it. Rung might be overly concerned with First Aid’s badge obsession, and Aid would never tell him the truth behind it. But eventually, Rung would realize it wasn’t hurting anybody and move on.

Favorite relationship

Tbh, I don’t think Aid has any in IDW. Just acquaintances. Which he really needs to fix. I love reading fics where he and Ambulon are good friends. And I love it when the Protectobots get explored. But those are AUs. Canonically, I think First Aid is a very lonely guy.

Maybe he and Velocity? I mean, they obviously did talk.

Favorite headcanon

Where First Aid was created as part of a combiner, I think he’s inside the Uncanny Valley. The way he tilts his head and stares at you with that visor of his. The way he can tell you that Blades is in a mood or Hot Spot is stressed without looking up from a patient. Or the way he just assumes you’ll be jiggy if his brothers join you two. It just isn’t natural.

First Aid is nice. But boy, is he Weird.

So, trivia! It's implied in the Complete Allspark Almanac that TFA Cyclonus is the future version of Skywarp (yes, really). He's apparently a time-traveler, and fanatically loyal to Galvatron.

Okay, so I have heard this one before! And I do think about it. But I think it would be more interesting if Cyclonus time travels to get away from Galvatron. Alternatively, he time travels with the intent to ensure Megatron becomes Galvatron but changes his mind once getting to the past. (I think it's also mentioned he loses his memories?) I also think it's interesting that they chose the scared, terrified Starscream clone to become the quiet brooding guy, instead of having it be one of the other clones. I kick the idea around in my head sometimes and I do want to use it eventually, I'm just not sure how.

Autobot X

Hey guys, here's my take on the rest of Autobot X from the Animated Universe of Transformers, since we only saw his head in the AllSpark Almanac. (Note: To keep with the idea that Autobot X is a Frankenstein monster, I used various transformers to make him. I don't normally trace, but to keep with the style of the show and to have good idea of what his proportions were, I used other Autobots as reference. Please people, don't trace if you want to be in the industry.) Now the head was taken from the AllSpark Almanac but I made his body look like a mix of the original G1 Autobot X and Fortress Maximus from IDW. See if you can name all the parts I used. Anyway, Autobot X was created by Sparkplug Witwicky and Isaac Sumdac to help the Autobots protect Detroit. However, due to low funds and the government demanding that Sumdac create a Warbot for protection against the Autobots and Decepticons, Sparkplug and Isaac had to recycle parts of the Autobots that were left behind when they went back to Cybertron. Then Autobots and Decepticons returned for a potential Season 4, stuff happens and now the group has enough parts to complete Autobot X. However, something is wrong. Autobot X isn't functioning right and goes on a rampage, so he is shelved until the humans figure out what's wrong with him. Then boom! Spike is caught in one of the Autobot and Decepticon fights and the ONLY way to save him is to put his brain into Autobot X. Things don't go well. So yeah. I really like Autobot Spike (The episode from G1) and when I saw Autobot X's head in the AllSpark Almanac, I wanted to do an animated version of the episode. To help me visualize what Autobot X looks like, I made this reference piece. I have more to the Autobot X storyline than just the text blurb above but it would be too much for now. I'll post the full story once I'm done with it. Anyway, if you have any questions or ideas to say to me.

Hiding in a storage closet was not ideal, but it was almost better than dealing with the Elite Guard.

“I know they’re annoying,” Ratchet huffed, “just play nice for now, okay? The more you play nice the sooner you can get out of here.”

Drift leaned back against the medical berth, tsk-ing. “I can play nice. I know how to play nice. I just very seriously hate all of them and would like to never ever speak to or associate with any of them ever again.”

“Open,” Ratchet commanded, tapping a panel on the swordsmech’s side, and a second later it snapped back. “I thought you got all light of the allspark, but you’re still throwing around the word hate. Ain’t that a bit of a strong word for a mech like you?”

“Shut up,” Drift groans, and twitches as he feels his internals moving, feeling the sparks from the welder jump out between him and Ratchet. “Recognizing The Allspark as powerful and as the source of Cybertronian life doesn’t mean I’m incapable of hating people.”

“No, just means that you’re full of scrap.” Ratchet tugged at one of Drift’s wires gently, causing the speedster to jump.

“Will you stop?”

“I’m doing my job.”

“Stop doing your job.”

“Gladly.” He said that, but continued poking and prodding with his tools. “Anyway. Who knows, maybe the allspark will spontaneously offline Sentinel one day, wouldn’t that be nice.”

“I don’t think it can do that.”

“Seems like it can do whatever it wants,” the medic replied gruffly, backing away from Drift. “Close that side, open the other one.”

Drift did as instructed, and Ratchet made his way to the other side of the medical berth. “I don’t necessarily want Sentinel– or any of the guard, really– to offline. I don’t care if they do, but I’m not praying for it.” He grit his dentae as the poking and prodding resumed. “I don’t even really care that he’s so high-up in the Autobots. Your entire command structure was doomed the minute you put Ultra Magnus in charge.”

Ratchet barked a laugh. “Kid, Ultra Magnus has been in charge since before either of us were constructed.”

“My point still stands!” Drift gesticulated with one servo as he spoke. “Maybe if someone more competent was in charge, the war could���ve been avoided in the first place.”

“Someone like Megatron?” Ratchet asked, a look of bafflement on his faceplates.

“Not necessarily!” Drift continued, still gesticulating. “Clearly I don’t really believe in his cause anymore, or I wouldn’t be here right now. Just– someone more competent than Magnus. It’s not a high bar. The bar is in the pits.”

“Close that one. Open your chest plating.”

Drift did so, and Ratchet leaned over him, closer. “The war could’ve been completely avoided. You have to see that. You have to see that the acting Magnus is a moron.” Drift tilted his helm slightly, looking at the medic. “Wouldn’t you have wanted something different? Wouldn’t you have rathered if it didn’t happen?” He paused. “Things could have been different for both of us.”

Ratchet stared down at his internals, careful around his spark casing. “I’m not sure where I’d be if I wasn’t fixing wounds all day, to be honest.”

Drift leaned his helm back, staring up at the ceiling. “Doing something more worth your time, that doesn’t make you wanna rip your own plating off. Maybe even having fun for once.”

Ratchet glared at him, and pinched two wires together.

“Ow! Careful!”

“Did you just tell a medic to be careful?” Another pinch.

“Ratchet!”

“You deserve that.”

Drift huffed. “My point is that I hate the entire Elite Guard and I think they’re all idiots and I would like to no longer work with them ever again please.”

Ratchet chuckled, lifting up and away from the swordsmech. “Hopefully they’ll get off your case soon enough. You can close up, you’re all good to go.” The panel snapped shut, and Drift sat up in the berth. Ratchet moved to put away the tools he’d been using. “I’m sure you’re desperate to get off this planet. Get back to your vigilantism.”

“I don’t hate everything here,” Drift elaborated, resetting his vocalizer. “I like talking to you.”

Ratchet paused for a moment before returning to his action. “Maybe you should lay back down, actually, I should check your optics. And your processor.”

Drift exvented the smallest laugh. “Really, I mean it.” He paused. “Not everything is bad here.”

“Just the Elite Guard.”

“They’re bad everywhere.”

Ratchet smiled the smallest bit. “Of course.”

Here's the couple of pages in it detailing the show's canceled plans for the Shattered Glass or Mirror Universe AU episode(s?). This seems like it would have been a very fun ep- especially with Prowl's clone army?? (has anyone in fandom played with this yet in fic?? asking for a friend >w> )

Man, I’m sad about the fact that I had the original Allspark Almanac I and II and they’re probably lost forever due to my family’s hoarding.

I would just buy “The Complete Allspark Almanac” now but apparently that’s an even harder find, for some reason?

How this Prime Transformer broke out.

Prior to Prime, there were five Transformers who bore the name. A member of the Constructor Squad of the Decepticons of G1. A member of the Land Military Mini-Con Team from Armada. A binary-bonded Mini-Con partner of Ultra Magnus from Energon. An Autobot from Revenge of the Fallen and in Speed Stars (both Live Action). So in 2011, when Prime began airing on the Hub, Knock Out came to be.

Coming in 10 episodes into the series, Starscream called him to the Decepticon base to help Megatron. What made him stand out is his Vehicle mode is a car, making him stand out among the other Decepticons who were all planes. He was a delight to see on screen as his personality shines through. Though if you want a more thorough look at him in the Prime Series, check out Emperor Kumquat’s video on “Who is Knock Out and Why is Knock Out?”

After the series, there are apparently a bunch of Prime comics related to that. They tend to be before the finale since he joins the Autobots at the end. He apparently was also a Kre-On from Hasbro’s line of Lego Competitors, but it didn’t really capture his look. And after Prime, ignoring a Knockout from the Battle Masters, this Knock Out was the default one from here on out including the IDW Comics.

Sadly, Knock Out has only made a total of 37 appearances in comics, which includes Prime, the crossover, the Japanese one and probably any other Transformer called Knock Out. He’s also in the Animated Continuity, though part of The Complete AllSpark Almanac. Though the comics do confirm that he and Breakdown are indeed a couple, so good on them.

So what makes Knock Out a favorite of mine? For starters, he stands out from the Decepticons. A car when others are planes. Bright red when others are military grays. He uses a staff when others have built in weaponry. He’s a surgeon who would love to give people upgrades or dissect the enemy. And honestly he is just fun to watch on screen. If I could change 3 things about TFA, they would be... ⭐ 1. Keep Sari Sumdac completely organic ⭐ 2. Both Elita and Blackarachnia, are separate characters (also, Elita One is pink + BA’s past self has a different name) ⭐ 3. The Allspark Key loses its powers, if it brings someone back to LIFE (so temporarily Optimus died in Season 3, instead of 1) because there’s no risk before Season 3... if Sari can bring them back with her Key! 🔑

Honestly I think Elita haunting the narrative would be a lot cooler. Plus there won't be that weak confrontation between Sentinel and what supposed to be his dead friend who turn out to be alive and become the thing that he thought killed her. so you think it would be more emotional...the angst is there..but nothing too emotional is there.. also Wasp and Bumblebee just ruin it all with that one interaction. Look this may be too far for this show but I think there should of been a scene in Predacons Rising where Sentinel should of have full on emotional breakdown finding out Elita is Blackarachnia... seeing her like this and her experimenting on Wasp. He can barley move and fell down onto his knees as the only thing he can is "Elita" over and over again while having flashbacks of all their of all their happy memories before this tragedy... Unfortunately us as the audience never get this since Tfa seen to only care how the Acha Seven event effect Optimus and Elita not Sentinel. The audience only knowledge of how Sentinel feel about the event is from his entries from the All spark almanac which not everyone going have access to.. if there one thing I would add this show it would be a episode exploring Sentinel's trauma and his emotions deeper. Perhaps this episode is Sentinel writing down in journal about all the events that happened while narrating it.

I actually kinda of like the idea of Optimus dying later in the series plus would be a gold mine of angst if Sentinel was there to witness his death up close and for him to have a "oh shit this guy still matter to me " moment as he watched in horror Optimus getting beaten to death.

Sentinel trying to reach out to help Optimus.. to protect him yet always too far to do anything until it too late... slience filled the area as Sentinel slowly pick up his old academy buddy's corpse.

All this idea could improve season three.
