My Personal Weatherman and the D/s element Ep 8
Tumblr media
It's the last episode. I'm excited and sad. For those that haven't read my other episode break-downs, they can be found here.
Tumblr media
The side eye that Yoh gives Segasaki is wonderful. So full of WTF.
First, let me explain that sub scared is not the same as scared scared. For some, that uncertainty and fear isn't something they want to escape from. Never once do you see Yoh truly fight. Let's be honest, homeboy is being sweet, pretending that a shirt could really keep him tied up.
Segasaki is laying down the guidelines. Ahh, and then he realizes that he doesn't want a slave. He's back tracking. This is good evolution for an organic D/s relationship. See how loose that shirt is when Yoh grabs Segasaki. That thing is threatening to come undone on its own.
Ohhh not only is Yoh agreeing to the guidelines, but they are communicating. Nice. Same Segasaki, same. That's exactly how I would describe myself. Aww, the shy cute baby making a move on his Dom. But damn does his Dom like it.
See! See! What did I say about subs? They like that feeling that is like, right before a roller rolls down. Damn, this is hot. Segasaki knows Yoh likes it. Yoh is being a little brat, giving that typical push back because he likes the no, but he's being careful to not push too much because he doesn't want Segasaki to actually stop.
See doesn't really want him to stop.
Tumblr media
Yoh trying to explain or understand, but Dom's protective instincts have been activated. His sub baby is sick.
OMG! Mickey and Minnie are the best! "Try to use more thought in forming your words." DEAD!
Tumblr media
Segasaki's smile! He is so happy to finally understand what Yoh needs from him. Bless it, though, his man is dense. 🤣🤣🤣 Welcome to my life Segasaki, welcome to my life. My man is so fucking smart but so fucking dense. But they are ours, right.
Tumblr media
He is cooking curry and it looks awful! 🤣🤣🤣
Tumblr media
Segasaki is setting up more guidelines! Even talking reward! This is so cute!
Oh!!! Okay, so this may be confusing to some. Segaski asking Yoh to wait for him at the door and greet him when he get home, but this is actually a big thing to many Doms. Let me explain. So, the Dom of the house returning home, it's a significant part of everyday life. When the Dom returns home and closes the door, the D/s couple, who are often not public, can truly be themselves. It’s an important moment to help activate the subservient role, reconnect with each other, and reinforce the dynamic. It's an intimate bond building moment for both parties.
You are seeing it in action. Both parties are getting their needs met and creating a stronger bond. A relationship if not nurtured becomes mundane but with this small thing, you remind each other of how important you are to one another. It's saying, I will put in the effort because I care, value, and respect you. Imagine receiving that message from your loved one every day.
Then the curry. Ahhh, Segasaki is so happy. These two worked a lot of things out. I loved watching it. And now we've come to the end. I'm gonna go re-watch because I love it! I hope you guys enjoyed this. Thank you for taking the time to read it. Hit me up if you have any questions. 💜💜💜

I think what's destroyed me this episode is the fact that from where Pisaeng turned the ball until now it has all been a dream. Their first time, the years spent together, they won't be the same, they won't be there, they won't exist anymore. That simple happiness is forever gone, unreachable and I think the crystal ball worked this time because Pisaeng would throw it all away just on the chance of Kawi being ok but what comes next? Is it really worth the cost? Will Pisaeng sacrifice it all because of his mistaken sense of guilt?
And what's even worse is this… If you asked Kawi? He would have chosen this all a hundred times and more

Reading MXTX! Anyone want commentary?
So... I'm reading SVSSS for the first time. (It's got me feral, thanks for asking.) I'm making a shitload of notes, so I actually take it in and remember it, and also to keep on top of the plot, characters, etc. Because it's me, I'm also collecting quotes from it specifically to make notes on for future fic writing purposes. And, because it's me, those notes are either sarcastic, full of rage, or me going absolutely feral.
My question is... would anyone be interested if I posted my notes/commentary/observations/screaming here? Because although life has me in a writing slump, I have A Lot To Say about what I'm reading.
When I finish SVSSS, I'll be reading TGCF for the first time, and after that, I'll be reading MDZS for the second time, but as if it's the first time - because the first time I read it in a fugue state over the course of two days, which means I promptly forgot 98% of it - and I'll be taking extensive notes about both of those, too. Which I will also happily post, if anyone's interested.
TLDR; shall I post the notes I make? To make it super easy for me, please leave a vote!

I don't believe Win is Jealous of Pharm
Tumblr media
See that face. It's not jealous. He enjoys seeing Team and Pharm's friendship. Win's a caring brother, he's pleased to see the same type of caring behavior from Team. He is also happy to be able to report to His bestie, that Pharm is feeling better.
Also the sandwich thing? An excuse to get him to eat breakfast together! If there's no opening for Win to take, he'll make an opening.
Win is a tad possessive but that seems to be the norm. Look how Dean reacted to Pharm taking a picture with his very straight brother. He suddenly showed up at the dorm.
Riding in the car. He just wants to spend as much time with him as possible. An additional bonus if he can tease Team in the process. He is a sadist. He loves to put Team on the spot, loves to see him embarrassed.
Personally just not seeing where Win is jealous. 💜🌸🎶

While watching, I must say what @lutawolf said about “Win is not jealous of Team and his friendships. He’s possessive of the time in which he has with Team” really became more obvious to me this episode.
Tumblr media
Looking at his expression, he’s clearly not jealous that they’re there or that they’re friends with Team, he just simply wants this time with Team and for it to belong to him alone, so he devises a way to send them off and possess Team’s time for himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even that minute head nod maybe it’s not a nod but it felt like one to me when Team says he’ll drive them back just really shows (to me) that he’s not jealous of Team’s other interpersonal relationships. Would he want the time to be just for the two of them? Given how he keeps looking at Team in this whole scene, undoubtedly yes but he gets it - he knows at this moment this time is not his with Team because Team wants to drive them, he agrees with it.
Tumblr media
He expressly says himself Team can go hang out with his friends. If Team wants to hang out with friends then he gets that, he gets that it’s not his time, he’d be considerate about Team’s wishes. He’s not jealous of that friendship.
He wants what’s best for Team but also wants the time he does have with Team - the time he can have with Team - to belong to him (when it’s his).

Survivor's Guilt
Tumblr media
For the second time in his life, Team is pulled out of the pool after almost dying. For the second time in his life, he's screamed at for drowning, for nearly dying, for doing something wrong.
Tumblr media
And it's his fault again, all over again. His fault for swimming without permission, his fault for drowning, his fault for needing Win to save him just like how he needed his brother to do the same all those years ago because after all this time he still hasn't learnt how to save himself, still hasn't learnt how to stop upsetting the people who love him and it's no wonder Win is so angry with him, no wonder Win raises a fist at him just like how his mother raged at him for killing her son and of course he should be beaten, of course he deserves to never be forgiven because like his mother said he should have been the one to die and he's sorry, Team's sorry, he's so, so sorry, Hia, Hia please-
Tumblr media
But this time Hia embraces him.
Tumblr media
This time Hia cries for him.
Tumblr media
This time Hia tells him to never, ever do that again because I can't lose you, Team-
Tumblr media
And Team realizes that this time, the anger carries worry, not condemnation. This time, he is cared for, he is wanted, and it's okay that he survived.
Tumblr media
This time, Team can finally return the embrace, and when he cries, he cries for the both of them.

My Personal Weatherman and the D/s element Ep 6
If you haven't read my other meta on the show, I suggest you do! You can find them here.
Tumblr media
I adore that Segasaki put a tracker on Yoh.
Tumblr media
However, it looks as though it was pointless because it's as if Yoh wants to get caught. Slow doesn't even begin to describe this boy.
Now it's finally useful. He has found his man and told him in no uncertain terms to make up an excuse and come back home. Now, if he were an actual slave, he would be unable to say no. If he were deep subservient... He would be unable to say no. I know you normies are thinking, damn. Don't they have rights Luta!? They Don't Want Them! They are not you. For some people, they just don't want to make decisions. Now is Yoh that type of submissive is the question though. Let's see what Yoh does.
Tumblr media
I love that Yoh at least has someone on the outside of things he can talk to. She clearly understands Segasaki. I really like the husband. Mickey and Minnie are well suited to each other.
Flashback time!!!
So it all starts in the school cafeteria. OMG, I love how Yoh pauses as soon as he sees Segasaki. Then he has to sit back down because he doesn't know what else to do. His original thought is no longer there. All that encompasses his gray matter is Segasaki. "The first time I saw that person. I thought they might not be from this planet. At least out of all the sculptures that I've ever seen, he's the most beautiful." Then he gives that soft smile. So freaking cute! "The shape of his ears, the line of his nose, the angle of the jawline, the fullness of their lips. Even the shape of their unseen eyeballs must be beautiful."
He then rushes to the store to buy what it will take to draw this beautiful boy. Yoh had it bad right off, but he doesn't understand it himself. Did they really call him loner guy? "If I were a girl, I would have thought it was love at first sight. But it was just a beautiful man." Yoh, you is an idiot. I love you, but you is an idiot. Okay, so he even knows that he is lying to himself. That's fair, we all do it.
I really am not a fan of these people. Loner guy? Really. These people look down on Yoh. Yup, nope, that solidified it. I don't like them.
Tumblr media
Bless baby's heart. He is so anxious. I'm in love with Segasaki straight away because I think he fell in love with Yoh pretty fast too. Right off, we see Segasaki easily takes control. The way he tells Yoh, "Let's go." and grabs his arm then backpack to control Yoh's direction and to push him where he wants. He then keeps his hand there.
Right off, they easily drop into a D/s relationship. This is how you would see a D/s relationship develop naturally. Guidelines are always a good but for the fiftieth million time, lifestyle people are different from scene. We are naturally always Dom or always submissive, so we don't turn that off. It's going to naturally be seen even in friendship, but that doesn't mean that a Dom should expect a submissive friend to just listen. A submissive can always put guidelines and boundaries up, but to think that these relationships don't organically happen is ignorant. Yoh is submissive right off the back, just look at how he asks Segasaki if this is okay. Segasaki is Dom right off the bat.
I adore how close they are to each other. Segasaki has no concept of space when it comes to Yoh. Oh, these two. In the way, Segasaki asks Yoh what he is doing. Sees Yoh's indecisiveness, finds a book, and then gives him a command. Fulling expecting Yoh to absolutely tell him what he thinks of the book. "If he were to suddenly despise me, it might be the end of me." Those some deep feelings there.
Tumblr media
I can't wait to see Segasaki's side of things!!! We know that Yoh's perception of things are easily distorted by his emotions. He is inclined to having a glass half empty mindset.
Please note, that Yoh as of yet hasn't acknowledged Segasaki's message. The submissive is not listening. We are not looking at a slave or a deep submissive.
Tumblr media
Hahaha. Being drunk and clingy are absolutely who he is Mickey my dear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
OMG, This is the best! I'm Dying. I love Segasaki and I love Segasaki's personality and his jealousy. I'm in love with these mother fucking characters oh so much.
Tumblr media
The way he stomps over and pulls back the curtains. "You can finish remotely right." I assure you, Segasaki wasn't actually asking a question. Still, Yoh faced with an angry Dom says yes. Said angry, Dom grabs him and begins to pull him away.
Leaving Minnie and Mickey both stunned and impressed. I think Mickey just developed his first guy crush.
Tumblr media
Bombastic side eye. Oh damn... Here comes the miscommunication. Yoh is talking about Segasaki and Segasaki is talking about Mickey. Poor baby.
Tumblr media
Yoh finds the tracker. Boy knows what that is and tells Segasaki, I put it back where I found it. But Segasaki is pissed. He thinks Yoh likes Mickey. Lawd these two. If they ever learn to communicate.
I can't wait for the next episode!!! I'm so in love with these two!!!

So going off on this post by @biochemjess I wanted to expand further upon some thoughts. Take this with a grain for salt as this is my personal interpretation based on my life experience.
For me both options @biochemjess laid out in her post are true and there have been hints spread out in all the episodes.
I have read Kawi as demi since episodes 3 / 4 . The whole being fixated on Pear for years, the being a virgin until he was 30 pointed out to me that he didn't view sex as that important (as he said in episode 10), he wasn't in love with the idea of Pear because she was attractive, he found her beautiful but in an innocent way. Now while all the above is true I think that the show has also been showing us that Kawi does feel a slowly growing attraction to Pisaeng that gets stronger as the episodes go on, an attraction that  grows along with his feelings.
I think camera work was used together with music effects since episode 3 to show when this was happening.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Up until episode 8 we saw Kawi fight his feelings for Pisaeng and using alcohol to act both on those and his attraction because it made him braver and less prone to be anxious and overthink things.
Now he left alcohol as a coping mechanism behind and accepted his feelings for Pisaeng in episode 8 but he is still struggling with his growing attraction and what it means for him and their relationship. If we pay enough attention in episode 9 he shut down all the kissing attempts between him and Pisaeng and I do think it's due to him trying to process what and how he is feeling about all of this.
The issue was further exacerbated by his talk with Max during episode 10. I admit here that the whole talk could have been handled better and while I don't think it had this intention I could totally see how it could come across as ace erasure. However if we look at this conversation not as applying to a broader audience but being character-specific it makes it have much more sense. I don't think Max's purpose here was to provide answers but to ask questions and make Kawi reflect on what he wants. We know Kawi tends to run away from problems and try not to think about difficult things but Max's purpose in the story has always been to question him and to push him into action exactly like he did in episode 6 during the gay bar scene (which resulted in Kawi getting drunk and kissing Pisaeng).
I think it's also important to understand how Kawi's, Max's and Pisaeng's different attitudes to sexual desire colour how they think about it and how they behave. Max's attitude is that of someone who has fully accepted his sexual desires because he knows himself, who he is and what he wants. Pisaeng's attitude is that of someone who has repressed himself for his whole life and now he is just so eager to take this new step forward because that's something he is now allowed to do. Now coming back to Kawi, his attitude is that of someone whose sexual desires are unknown. He hasn't thought about them really, hasn't thought about where he stands. His answers during his conversation with Max seem to me not as a way to evade the issue. That's why I think Max says that "sex is important to know oneself". It wouldn't be true for anyone and it's totally valid to know you are ace without trying to have sex but I don't think again this totally applies to Kawi. Kawi's is a character that doesn't know himself. His feelings, his desires, the unknown scare him and he does need to try and be pushed to come to a conclusion.
And I think that's exactly what's happening in the latter half of episode 10. All interactions with Pisaeng happen exactly after Kawi's talk with Max and we see Kawi absolutely panicking and running away and evading the issue. I think it's important here to note that for the last episodes Kawi was the one to force conversation between him and Pisaeng in order to avoid misunderstandings, the fact he didn't want to talk about sex with Pisaeng tells me he was still trying to understand where he stood exactly.
The whole evening and the date was Kawi being all in his head about what he was feeling and being scared and ignorant of his desires. But I don't think he wasn't feeling it or wanting in his own way. It's only in the restaurant that Kawi comes to the realisation that he was projecting his panic onto Pisaeng and that he was hurting him.
By the end of the night we see that Kawi has reached his conclusion, has come to a decision and he wants to try and have sex with Pisaeng. I do think there was a whole talk before this that they will get back to next episode.
Now my whole key apart from the discussion with Max that cemented that Kawi is demi, afraid of his desires but feeling attraction for Pisaeng is another scene we have in episode 10. It may be me reading a little bit too much into it but there is this scene when they are eating breakfast that may seem unrelated but which striked me as significant
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again this is personal interpretation based on my personal experience, but I feel like in this scene Kawi was struck dumb a little bit by what exactly Pisaeng's thumb wiping his mouth was making him feel. If you aren't used to sexual attraction is inconsequential moments like this that strike you the most, make you stop, the sudden spark.
So to sum it up, I think this episode cemented my belief of Kawi being demi and trying to come to terms and being afraid of what the growing attraction to Pisaeng is making him feel.

What "Hia" means to Win, and to Team
So, after @ellaspore posted her really insightful thoughts on the significance of Team calling Win Hia, I went down many rabbit holes trying to find a way to articulate how I feel about this too. A big thank you to the wonderfully sweet @lutawolf and @ellaspore and the rest of the #coconutsmafia gang for giving me the confidence to post this!
Hia and Phi are both honorifics and kinship terms - a concept many speakers of Indo-European, Austroasiatic or Sino-Tibetan languages will understand. They bear similarities with terms such as the Chinese Ge, the Japanese Aniki, Senpai, and the Korean Hyung, Sunbae etc. But each of these terms carry slightly different cultural connotations - like the difference between saying This is my father vs This is my old man - it says something about you as the speaker, and about your father as the addressee, who allows (or at least does not dispute) your chosen form of address. So, beyond simply according respect to the addressee, what does it actually mean, culturally, when we use these terms? Specifically, what does Hia mean to Win, the Thai-Chinese vice president of the varsity swim club, and what does it mean to Team, his Thai junior and freshman on a swimming scholarship?
Or, a really long rambling about social hierarchy, power asymmetry and social groups, and why I think Team's "Hia!" is just so damn adorable.
I would like to address some Thai cultural norms - if you are a lover of Thai BL you'll probably be familiar with some of these already (skip to the next indented paragraph) but I think it's best to establish my knowledge base before we move on. These are all very brief summaries of complex topics as understood by someone whose context is derived largely from academic and grey literature, so I welcome any further discussions on the topic! I have included links where possible, but apologize that not everything is open source.
The Basis of Social Hierarchy in Thai Culture
Generally speaking, there are two ways in which one can achieve a higher status within the Thai social hierarchy - through achieving the Buddhist concept of Merit, and through the more conventionally understood concept of Power. The latter takes many forms - rich/poor, employer/employee, caregiver/dependent, teacher/student, senior/junior, more experienced/less experienced etc. Now, I understand many people balk at the idea that age or seniority automatically bestows power upon a person, but this idea is based upon the (not always true) assumption that age correlates to being wiser or more experienced, and is an extremely ingrained concept in many Asian cultures.
Power Asymmetry ≠ Abuse of Power
It is important that we get this straight - being respectful to someone higher in the social hierarchy than you does NOT mean you are giving them a right to abuse you. The relationship between the superior and the subordinate is bidirectional - there is a mutual dependency between both parties. More on this below.
The Assimilation of Thai-Chinese in Thailand
Chinese traders began immigrating to Thailand as early as the 1600s, and Sino-Thai trade had been established long before that. Most of these traders belonged to the dialect groups of Cantonese, Hainanese, Hakka, Hokkien, or Teochew, with the latter eventually rising to be the largest group amongst the Chinese in Thailand. They often took up entrepreneurial jobs and started businesses. Due in large part to political efforts occurring around the late 18th century, the Thai-Chinese are an extremely well-integrated ethnic group, and most Thai-Chinese these days speak only Thai, identify as Thai and do not have a strong connection to their Chinese heritage. That said, many words of Chinese origin can be found in the Thai language - Hia, for eg, originates from the Teochew word Hian (兄) for older brother.
(Skip to here!) Now with that out of the way, let's dive into the actual point of this post.
"Hia is more intimate than Phi"
This was the most common explanation I found when trying to figure out the difference between Hia and Phi. But what does "more intimate" actually mean? Intimate in what way? As a partner (as in the Korean oppa) or as family (similar to the use of Ge - older brother - in Chinese) or marking someone as part of the inner circle/social group (a concept shared across Kor/Chi/Jpn)? Is it all? It's often described as a term used for those of Chinese descent - but that also means technically anyone could call Win Hia and it would still be socially acceptable (as seen from how people call some small business owners this too, since a large majority are of Chi descent). Also, as mentioned earlier the Thai-Chinese have assimilated very well, which means it's unlikely that the term is used just as a way to mark a person's heritage. There must be something else that makes Hia special to Win, and, to Team.
Kinship Terms of Address
There were a number of comments I found that alluded to Phi being less special than Hia because you could, in general, use it for anyone older than you. To examine this claim, we need to backtrack a bit and compare Phi/Nong relationships to just purely formal acquaintance (Khun/Khun) - Is there a difference? Yes. The use of familial kinship terms of address when referring to non-family members specifically acknowledges the power imbalance in the social hierarchy - and it's a little more than just being polite. Broadly speaking invoking these terms initiates a two-way relationship - the younger gives respect and obedience and the older provides care and guidance. The common metaphor used is that the elder should be "a large tree in the shade of which the [younger] can rest and be content". That said, the steepness of this power imbalance varies - grandparent's generation vs parent's generation (including non-related "uncles/aunts") vs older sibling's generation (the one we are interested in), in descending order of steepness. There were 2 papers I found relevant to this topic - one examining the use of these terms and hierarchy in children's playgroups and another at the university level.
My conclusion is that Phi/Nong corresponds more generally to the Japanese idea of Senpai/Kouhai - the Japanese rarely use kinship terms to refer to unrelated people, although Aniki is an exception (Interestingly enough, Aniki can be used to refer to gang leaders, as apparently, Hia can too). When someone calls you Senpai, you're socially obligated to do a few things: look after them, guide them, treat them to food etc. In other words, it creates a relationship between 2 individuals and marks them as members of a particular social group. Yet, you don't go around Japan calling people Senpai if you have no connection to them and just want to catch their attention in a less formal, but still polite way - which you could do with Phi, when trying to for eg, order food from a street vendor. That usage is more akin to how Ge is used in Chinese. But again, going around calling everyone Ge is not as common as the use of Phi appears to be in Thailand. So, Phi/Nong is different from formal acquaintance in that it identifies 2 people as part of an in-group of sorts, and depending on the context, there are different societal expectations of either party.
What Hia Means to Win and Team
If we follow this line of thought, then Hia is a subset of the Phi/Nong relationship and also identifies Win and Team as being a part of a certain in-group. But which in-group is it? The "significant other" group or the "familial" group? There is a distinction because the hierarchy in the former is slightly more flattened and flexible than that in the latter. If we consider that Hia indicates Chinese heritage and thus identifies a particular in-group within the overarching "Phi/Nong in-group", then it follows that Win must invite Team into this particular in-group - Team can't just join it as he pleases. Thus, to Win, Hia means not only his desire to care for Team, but also to claim Team as a member of his in-group. Family is very important to Win, even though (or maybe especially because) he feels overlooked within his own. In 7-11 he lists all the terms Team can call him by - daddy, husband, wifey - these are all familial terms. He doesn't offer up boyfriend. Hia is Win's invitation to Team to be part of his family. And yet, there's an additional layer to this particular relationship because Win extends this invitation to Team just before they become intimate (and this is why I believe it was never a one-night stand from Win's POV). This moves this particular in-group beyond just the hierarchical and familial connotations of kinship terms and creates a group in which only Win and Team can claim membership. Ie, it combines the steeper hierarchy of "familial connection" with the more flexible hierarchy of "significant other". To Win, allowing Team to call him Hia marks Team as someone special and under his "umbrella" or "tree branches", if we follow the metaphor above (this ties into the possessiveness discussion @lutawolf shared previously), and Team's acceptance implies his agreement to accept the care and guidance Win wants to provide.
And Team does get this, on some level. He gets that Win sees him as someone different, though I think he is not quite ready to admit that Win sees him as "special". He gets that Win cares for him - but again he's unsure about whether or not Win wants to care for him (as opposed to fulfilling his duties as Team's senior/Phi), because at this point I believe Team doesn't quite understand the full significance of Win inviting him to call him Hia. Having said that, subconsciously or not, Team leans into Win's care - he drops Hia in nearly every sentence like it's a comma (which, as I understand from @lutawolf, is something subs do subconsciously too). It's one of the reasons why I think Team is so fantastically adorable tbh - you certainly don't need to use Hia so often in speech - but Team uses it all the time and most often as a form of entreaty - a request for affection, leniency, and care, as is his right as Win's junior, in exchange for respect and obedience. To be honest, in terms of being respectful and obedient, it may sometimes seem like Team doesn't fulfill his end of the bargain - but he does when it counts. When he says thank you sincerely, after Win helps him sleep, when he listens to Win's instructions, and when he lets Win take the lead in their interactions.
Team whines, but is NOT whiny (I will fight you on this!)
The way Team uses Hia relates to the Japanese concept of amae, the Chinese concept of sajiao, and somewhat but not quite to the Korean concept of aegyo, and I believe to the Thai concept of ngon. Again, these concepts are all slightly different, but suffice to say it is a behavior that the younger, or subordinate, in the relationship sometimes displays. It is often translated as "to act cute, as a child" or "to act affectionately", "in a manner that endears oneself to the receiver". To the uninitiated, it can be seen as being childish, manipulative even, and just downright strange that grown adults would do this - but it is a way of recognizing the receiver's power by appealing to their benevolence and generosity. It softens a demand for something into a request and smooths over many potentially conflict-inducing interactions (such as apologizing in an argument). Often times, it is a subconscious behavior that is naturally brought forth by the power asymmetry in a relationship. So Team whines yes, but he isn't whiny. On the contrary, it's super endearing - and the Chinese translation of Hia as Gege (typically the way young children call their older brother - usually changes to Ge as they get older) is driving half the Chinese fandom nuts because it's just too damn cute when Team does it.
In conclusion, Win's invitation to Team to call him Hia is a representation of his desire to care for Team and to guide him, and most importantly, a recognition that Team is a member of his in-group. He likes it when Team calls him Hia, because by doing so, Team acknowledges this relationship and even asks for Win's care and affection. And to Team, Hia means, at least subconsciously, care, affection, acceptance, and protection - though I feel he's not fully ready to accept that it also means that he is Win's, and is special. Hia Win means more to Team than he realizes currently, and that's why he has difficulty answering A's question.
