Калифорнийский художгик Мэттью Брандт изобретательно соединяет фотографию, скульптуру, ксилографию и, как видно, даже металлоконструкции. Каждая его работа превращается в перформанс. Например, при создании серии «Озера и водохранилища» Брандт использовал воду из водоемов , Работая в 2012 году над серией «Пчелы», автор наклеивал на бумагу мертвых насекомых, а его цикл «Ночное небо» объединяет бархатные фотофоны, припорошенные кокаином.. На выставке «Таинственный лес» представлены 39 крупноформатных работ из разных серий они знакомят с техниками, которыми владеет Мэттью Брандт. Художник создал эти работы специально для выставки в России: он приехал в Петербург и отправился в окрестные леса, чтобы сделать снимки характерных для региона растений. экспозиционный зал превратится в иммерсивное пространство: гуляя среди деревьев, зрители прочувствуют и детально рассмотрят каждое произведение.
