Watching "No! I Always Loved That Caravan" again last night before bed, I only just caught Tom muttering "the emails" at the beginning of the creepy buyers scene. It's amazing all the subtleties you catch on rewatching.

Shadowbugs and Break-Ins
Much like raccoons and other crafty critters, Shadowbugs have been observed breaking into places such as people's homes, banks, and stores. They can slip through the tiniest cracks and past the security systems in their shadow form.
However, unlike a human burglar, Shadowbugs aren't after any valuable heirloom or money. These guys often break into places because they detect the scent of food and want to grab a bite (whether it be for their babies, friends, or themselves).
When a Shadowbug breaks into say, a bank, they will NOT take any of the money. Instead, they will nab the peanut butter cookies and some other snacks that are in the break room.
Some Shadowbugs don't outright steal the food. Instead, these individuals will exchange something for said food, emulating what they see humans do. The items they give often include leaves, pretty flowers, cool rocks, or even their favorite stick.
Some vendors outright decline these offers and shoo the lovable lugs away, but others find their attempts to "pay" for things adorable and give them the food anyways (making a friend in the process).

Thinking about an AU where Clark landed on earth as an adult instead of a baby. Literally nothing changes except for Bruce having to hide this 6’4, 200 pound golden retriever who shoots lasers out of his eyes in his mansion.
Clark is VERY clingy and these soft whispers in his language send tremors down Bruce’s spine.
And, really, the moon rocks Clark keeps bringing are very beautiful, but it’s getting harder to explain where they come from.

Innocence=Politic=Skill
So we all know that Empathy looks like Dolores Dei, right? And Dolores Dei is the founder of Moralism, and Empathy is the skill that represents moralism.
Simple.
But it goes beyond that! If we do a little digging, we can see that this pattern applies to the Perikarnassian, Communism, and Rhertoric as well!
The Greatest Innocence says of the Perikarnassian:
He's depicted as a young man with molten gold pouring out of his mouth -- all he spoke was gold.
(Side note: the Perikarnassian’s gender is not known, Franconegro just assumed they were a man).
Rhetoric is also depicted as having... stuff coming out of his mouth, but I didn’t make the connection until the Skills were doing some name-calling.
Volition - It was me. I made you sound weak and I shouldn't have. But *this* guy, Goldmouth, he's way in over his head. Be careful with his so-called advice.
So just like the Perikarnassian, Rhetoric has a mouth of gold. And is the Perikarnassian associated with communism? Yes!
Steban, the Student Communist - "The theorists Puncher and Wattmann -- not infra-materialists, but theorists nonetheless -- say that communism is a secular version of Perikarnassian theology, that it replaces faith in the divine with faith in humanity's future..."
If we take this pattern to its conclusion, then the fascist Innocence, Franconegro, should look like Endurance, and the ultraliberal Innocence (if one existed?) would look like Savoir Faire.
I don’t know what this implies about the setting, or Harry, or the narrative, but I think it’s neat. All quotes taken from Fayde!

Shadowbugs and Traps
A lot of people have tried to get rid of the Shadowbug population by trapping and culling them.
However, the Shadowbugs quickly caught on to this and figured out clever ways to circumvent the traps, using their shadow form and extendable arms to grab the bait from them.
Some people have actually tried poisoning Shadowbugs and their babies. However, the Shadowbugs also caught on to the poisoned bait via its scent and the fact it was simply laying out in the open.
TL;DR: Shadowbugs are quite smart.

The way Brennan played Jack at the end of his talk with Timothy, idk, something something about a boy too clever and too ambitious who was never taken serious, always chased away for his tricks and schemes that were his ways to survive in an unkind land. A Jack who grew up without two loving dads, without Tim who would have found delight in his every trick and scheme, who would've thought him clever, who would have taught him to not run himself ragged for the approval of those who do not know him because all the approval he needed was at home with a father who would always be on his side regardless of guilt or blame. Still too clever, too ambitious for his own sake? Sure, but a Jack who would've died trying to bring fortune to his humble home, not caught in the frontlines of a war of his own making, miserable and angry.
Idk man
