okay APPARENTLY they sent those figurines out to select bloggers & it was indeed to promote season 4. and by select i mean "mommy bloggers". Like, people called shescribes, mommysblockparty, onemommasavingmoney... literally who was behind the marketing for this?? not even distributed to tumblrinas. in the year of our lord 2019. smh

this is such an obvious nerd collectible to be put in a glass case for ten years and they sent them to MOMMY BLOGGERS?? they should have sent them the fashion dolls with exclusive season four outfits or some shit! the sword that said the catchphrase! not ultra limited statuettes HUH??? if they were going to insist on distributing something like this, if anything it should have gone to nerd news outlets or something where people who cared about displaying things would end up with them

Official Dreamworks Digital SPOP Releases

I put a bunch of these in other posts I've posted before or things I queued up to post later when i was archiving everything form the Twitter account but since we were talking about this I might as well collect them all in one post...

The She-Ra Page on the Dreamworks activity center links to many (some of the links are broken) of the official digital merch they made.

There are Zoom backgrounds, watch along bingo cards, recipies, and some printable paper craft things like the mini-figs from Roll With It, the She-Ra Sword, and the valentines (which also include a papercraft model of Bow's arrow).

The She-Ra virtual reality room which is kinda boring but props to them for trying, I guess.

For use with VR set ups, obvs, but you can view it in a browser as well.

Want something really random? Scholastic had a math handout they did as part of their newsletter for schools featuring Marcus Scribner as Bow. Brand synergy is a mysterious thing.

Lastly, there was a handout on how to read First Ones language also done by Scholastic to cross promote the books...

There was also a paper hand out they had at the Scholastic booth at cons and I actually own that but I don't have time to find / scan it at the moment.

There was an official She-Ra Instagram filter (beloved of my children) which is alas no more but you can see their IG story about it here (assuming that link works?)

And, of course, there is the sticker app which is still available in an app store near you and I uploaded most of the stickers from it to Tumblr a while ago as well.

Lastly, a lot more of the printable crafts they did can be found on @dreamworksshera which is the official tumblr of the show. There's a pattern to make Bow's shirt, Spinnerella themed pinwheels, a Sea Hawk flag, Netossa net and Mermista smoothie that I remember off the top of my head. Unfortunately, whoever ran that account did not understand tagging at all so they are very hard to find but such is life!

Inspirations for Bow's design in SPOP

Another part in my series, here we focus on Bow.

Bow himself, aside from his Filmation/classic counterpart's design, seems to take inspiration from the Filmation concept art, including parts of his clothing/armor, dark hair, lack of cape and being clean shaven:

Here, like Bow in SPOP, the 2 latter proto-Filmation versions of Bow wear a single shoulder pad (most similar in the second concept art).

Bow being described as dark haired in the Filmation series bible.

This probably inspired Bow's design in UK comics - were he had the Filmation cartoon design, but with black hair:

He arguably also has some elements from Justine Dantzer's very original design for Bow (great, I mean gigantic thanks to @clarenecessities for finding the links to these on he-man.org), most notably the single vambrace on his left arm:

(the bow being collapsible and having a equine head at one end, is something directly from the final/cartoon Filmation design)

Though in Justine Dantzer's concept, the vambrace was actually a prosthetic, as Bow lost his arm.

The original toy also had one gauntlet on his left arm:

The same design was used in minicomics, though with bracers:

While Bow being dressed in Filmation counterpart's clothes in his battle plan/fantasy in "Roll with It" is well known, it's notable his armor in "The Battle for Bright Moon" closely resembles his Filmation costume too:

Though the armor also reminds me of Bow' design in MOTUC:

The design of the toy's bow, might be also an inspiration it's SPOP counterpart.

BUUT the armor, and Bow's overall design in SPOP, also resemble the design of him used in the Filmation made She-Ra Princess Of Power Books commercial.
