. . . versus ten times she wanted to cry, but didn’t.

She wanted to leave this dojo a long time ago, but she stayed because Kreese convinced her they could bring it down from within. It’s what she wanted. Revenge. More importantly, to right the wrong she played a part in but is too afraid to come forward about. As if anyone would believe her. It’s cost her everything. Her sense of safety and security, her mental health, a relationship with someone that she genuinely cares for, any friends she might have had, all gone because she thought this was the way to make things right. That she could handle her own shit and fix this. But something changed, and now all of that was for nothing. Her life is hell now. Her last ditch effort is to come clean to Sam, but she is rejected. She was right; no one would ever believe her. Then Robby shows up to the dojo and stands up to the Cobras. Silver wields them all like puppets against him. But not Tory. She won’t do that to him.

Her small defiance was seen by the wrong person: Sensei Kim. Considering how she had already abandoned the dojo when it needed her most, her teachers saw fit to punish her. It’s Kim who picks at her weakness as they demand she strikes a block of solid stone. Taunting her. Degrading her. Comparing her feelings to weakness. And it’s all too much. The tears start to leave her eyes before she even goes for her final strike, and when she strikes, she doesn’t aim for the stone. She aims for Kim. All her rage, the sadness and heartbreak she’s suppressed over the past couple of months, she does what she was taught to do: she channels it into her fist. The stone breaks, and so does her hand. As much as it hurts, the physical pain of her shattered bones and cut skin isn’t what stings the most. It's the realization that this is what her life has become. She compromised herself to play this game in hope that she could win it, only to be met with the reality that winning here is impossible. She sacrificed the only happiness in her life for this, and now it might be too late to fix all the ruin she’s brought to herself. Her choices at this point are to either stay in Cobra Kai and endure more of this in hope that maybe she can salvage some sort of future for herself and her family, or leave now and accept the nothingness that her life has become. The stone may have broken her hand, but truly, it’s the feeling of hopelessness that finally broke Tory Nichols.

thoughts on s5 in regard to my muses here

Canon

Kyler: Asshole. Completely IC. Wish there were more scenes of him pestering Tory and her turning him down like in s4 since he wanted to be the King Cobra and she and Robby broke up for a bit. I just love the little dynamic Joe and Peyton ad-libbed and I wanted more lmao. I think with Cobra Kai gone, he’ll focus more on wrestling and another sport, maybe football, but if Sensei Kim or Kreese show up with a new dojo somehow (less likely for Kreese for obvious reasons) I can see him going back to either of them.

Kenny: My little problem child you need to go to your room and think about what you’ve done jfc you basically attempted murder TWICE. I do think them leaning into Kenny becoming an aggressive bully was the right call to an extent, but I also think there should have been more conflict there at least for the first half of the season trying to reason with himself why his mentor and most trusted person in the dojo left. He was there because of Robby, now suddenly Robby’s out and trying to convince him that Cobra Kai is bad for him? That would at least give him pause for a while trying to figure out what changed so suddenly, I don’t think his relationship with Robby is something he would readily throw under the bus like that until more down the line when Silver’s got him convinced he can be the next big thing, because then he can see it from a distorted perspective of like “oh Robby’s just jealous and worried about me being better than him” and being mad about that. I do think after how everything went down he really is remorseful about some things, particularly how he didn’t listen to Robby and how fast he turned against him and Tory and anyone else who might have left. I think he needs guidance now more than ever, he needs to process his own behavior, and find his own balance of right and wrong because he doesn’t know what to think about anything anymore. Also ... Hawk should have flattened him lol that should in no way be an even fight, Kenny’s only hope for winning was landing that Silver Bullet.

Piper: She’s not there so I’m just going to assume she left Cobra Kai between seasons and the reason why is free real estate.

Lia: Also was not there so she is also free real estate this season.

OCs

Kevin: Was def rooting for Hawk the whole time. He was a lifeguard at the pool and kept taking up for everyone, which is the reason the teens weren’t kicked out until later when things really broke down. He also lost his lifeguard job there because he kept letting everyone stay in spite of their behavior, RIP. During the egg training, he got busted pretty early because he hid under the seat in his van, ate an edible bc “one won’t hurt”, and then passed the fuck out for twenty minutes.

Leo: Right now Cali and I have this plot where he’s seeing Nina hurt Tory when Tory comes to Cobra Kai to expose Silver and no one believes her bc she has no proof outside of saying he cheated. Which adds to him questioning, especially after talking with Jeanny afterward and seeing how it badly it affected her, but he still doesn’t leave then. He’s definitely out after Silver’s arrested though and he’s dealing with the realization that he stayed there because that’s what his family wanted for him and what they told him could give him a bright future but now his family’s association with Silver in general is a black mark on their reputations as a whole. I don’t think he’s going back to Miyagi-do / Eagle Fang without some convincing since he did get kicked out of Eagle Fang originally, but down the line he might, or he might join a different dojo. And yes, he is taking a lot of shit from his parents about the whole situation.

Hikari: You can bet your ass she’s big mad about Chozen getting hurt. It makes her even more upset when it comes to all the ex-Cobras, especially the ones that join Miyagi-do / Eagle Fang. She could have lost her sensei, she isn’t very quick to be forgiving or understanding about it. Chozen probably can’t get back to Okinawa soon with his injuries, so she’s staying as long as he is. She probably helped Chozen bust people during the egg thing instead of participating herself.

Bianca & Vincent: Bianca is a fake bitch trying to act like she had no idea about anything bad happening and like she supported Tory lmao. Vincent is going back to boxing, he’s a champion he doesn’t need this shit. He did still take Silver’s side though and would go back to Cobra Kai / Kim / Kreese if they had the chance. I think Bianca is completely done with karate outside of sticking her nose in the drama though, it was never really her thing anyway.

Diya: She breaks up with Vincent for good after s5 because of his reaction to the scandal and the fact that he still takes Silver’s side. Her reaction is basically “wow yeah everyone was right and you’re a really shitty person and I shouldn’t have stayed with you this long”. But they were toxic af also pretty co-dependent (in the bad way) so she’s having to make a lot of adjustments in her life now.

Asha: Just extremely happy that Cobra Kai is gone and Topanga can be Topanga again. She left during the buyout because she wouldn’t work for Silver, probably went to support Miyagi-do / Eagle Fang in their endeavors and then returned after Silver was ousted.

Winona: Also just really happy that Cobra Kai is gone lol. She hid in the tree during the egg training and got busted by Chozen close to the end.

Hale: Side eyeing the whole thing with Anthony and Kenny but otherwise largely unbothered. In her lane. Moisturized. Minding her business.

TW: mentions of death, corpses, and injury (the characters are already dead and have been for a long time), light descriptions of wounds and broke bones, and overall just heed the warning that this is basically just “what would happen if the crows all died” but from an outside perspective years later. also crooked kingdom spoilers. ok i think that’s all, it’s nothing too graphic or descriptive but i want to warn just in case

Six bodies lay in shallow graves, where the grass meets the sea. Six corpses, all decomposing into earth below them and becoming one with the land they, in varying degrees of reluctance, called home. Six piles of bones, all lined up in a row underneath the feet of whoever chose to walk over that barren wasteland.

Five of the bodies were buried at the same time.

The first, with a cane in one clutched hand and a body full of broken ribs. The other hand was stretched toward the smaller body beside him, this one with a knife under the bones where her thigh would be, and two completely shattered ankles.

The third and fourth bodies were that of two boys, barely men. Their fingers were intertwined, the bones almost melded together from years under the soil. The younger boy’s skeleton was broken into fragments at the wrists and the chest, almost as if an explosion had gone wrong and burnt through the skin. The older had a single gunshot wound to his skull.

The fifth body had no obvious sign of death except a small hole in her chest, but not one that signaled broken bones, or a gunshot, or any sort of physical trauma. It was almost as if she had been killed from the inside out, an internal force leading to the tragic passing.

The sixth body was deeper in the ground, the state of decomposition further along than the others by a year's worth of time. It too was the victim of a gunshot, the rest of the large frame untouched.

These six bodies were recorded as the following: Kaz Brekker, Inej Ghafa, Wylan Van Eck, Jesper Fahey, Nina Zenik, and Matthias Helvar. The first five died during their final, fatal heist. The last, a year prior.

It is said that Brekker wrote the following statement in his will, which was rewritten days before his death:

I am going to die. We all are. If you cannot bury me in gold, bury me with the rest of them. Bury me where he was taken from me. Let the tide run over my skin until I'm nothing but a shell of a man. Let them forget me.

The bottom of the note was marked with the coordinates of the graves. It is unknown how Kaz Brekker knew he was going to die, or who the ‘he’ is that he refers to.

All that is known are the rumors. The stories. The whispers of tragedy in the wind that blows in with the tide.

All that’s left is the bones.

The bones of the ones known as Crows.

season one. courtney has resided in valley village, los angeles with her single mom barbara her entire life. barbara worked multiple waitress jobs throughout her time as a single parent and in the process, became close friends with tory’s ( @cobrasqueen ) mother prior to her growing ill. when either of them needed to take on extra shifts, they would offer to babysit the two girls. that’s how courtney and tory became best friends. courtney is apart of topanga karate and is present at the tournament, but is not involved with any of the other kids because she doesn’t attend the same school and cobra kai has yet to take over the valley. pat proposes to barbara and the two of them begin to plan their lives together.

season two. barbara and pat get married over the summer and decide to move the family out to reseda closer to where pat’s mechanic business is opening. courtney is no longer in topanga karate due to the move and instead of joining a new dojo she just hangs out with tory for most of the summer. she is present for 80s night, moon’s house party, and starts her first day at west valley the same day as the school fight. she attempts to break up the fight between tory and sam, but fails to do so.

season three. courtney spends time with tory when she isn’t working. helping her take care of her mother and little brother. after finding out tory is went back to cobra kai and got into another fight, courtney joins to keep an eye on her. unlike the rest of those in cobra kai, she quickly notices the red flags. courtney refuses to join them in the house fight and that brings division to her and tory’s friendship.

season four. courtney desperately wants to get back into karate, but doesn’t want to go against her already strained friendship with tory. the girl decides to get back into gymnastics in her free time. one day at practice she gets recruited by miguel ( @proveagain ) and hesitantly agrees to join eagle fang on their journey to winning the all valley.

season five. after cobra kai’s win, courtney quits karate like most of the miyagi-do and eagle fang students. she decides to start reaching out to tory again to rekindle their friendship, but it’s just a lot of failed attempts. courtney joins the ��miyagi-do and eagle fang students again when daniel is severely injured by terry. the season ends with tory and her being friends again and everyone being apart of one dojo. the end.
