Banksway Soulmate AU(everyone is born with their soulmate’s usual name on their wrist, and past the age of twelve, a collage of your soulmate’s interests or things that are important to them appear on your wrist and arm.)

Charlie had always known his soulmate would be a guy. He wore long sleeves and hoodies and flannels for years to hide it. His mother had never cared. Casey Paloma Conway had always been in favor of anyone being with whoever they wanted as long as they were in love. As you can imagine, Charlie was very confused when his first crush was a girl. But then hockey sticks appeared on his forearm beside the name Adam and he got very excited. He didn’t care if his soulmate was a boy if the boy liked hockey too. Casey still made him keep it covered. She had girl friends of hers who had girls’ names on their wrists and she had watched them get bullied.

Adam had always thought Charlie was a nickname for Charlotte. Or Charlene. Something feminine. It had never crossed his mind that Charlie was a nickname for Charles. And Adam had been truly surprised when Charlie had revealed the name and collage that covered his forearm. Because everything matched Adam. Everything. And the more Adam looked at his own forearm, the more he realized that everything on his forearm was a Charlie thing. 

Charlie Pov

I watched as something appeared on Adam’s arm. The sign for I love you. I frowned, confused. Neither of us knew anyone who knew sign language. And your soulmate was supposed to be someone you knew by the age of thirty. I was only sixteen, but still. “Adam,” I murmured, still utterly confused. 

Adam only hummed, not looking up from his book. Jesus, he was adorable.

“The sign for I love you just showed up by the name.”

Adam only shrugged, murmuring a soft, “Cool.”

I pulled back my long sleeve slightly, looking for any new pieces to the collage. Sure enough, there was the title of the book Adam was rereading for the third time. I smiled. I’d been suspicious for a while that maybe, just maybe, Adam could be my soulmate. “Enjoying the book?” I asked.

Adam nodded and bit down on his lip again. Okay, hot.

“Adaaaaammmmm,” I whined. “Pay attention to meeeee.”

Adam looked up at me, a bored look on his face. 

I grabbed a pillow and shoved it in his face. “Not like that,” I complained.

Adam laughed, and set his book aside as he pushed the pillow away from his face. He leaned over and began to tickle my ribs. I barked out a laugh and attempted to retaliate and flip him over. It did not go as planned. Adam ended up pushing my shirt up to better get at my ribs, but I pushed my sleeves back and shoved him over. We rolled over onto the floor with an oomph! and then Adam stopped laughing. 

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

Adam just stared at me, blank-faced.

“Ad?” I questioned.

“What, Charlie, uh, what does your wrist say?” he finally stuttered out.

“Amanda,” I responded, pulling my sleeve back down. 

Amanda wasn’t what my wrist actually said, clearly. But it was close enough that most wouldn’t question it. It was a lie I’d been telling for years. It slipped out so easily that sometimes I had to remind myself it wasn’t true. “No, Charlie, what does it say, really?” Adam demanded.

I sighed. Why couldn’t this be as easy as Connie and Guy’s confessions? Or Dean and Fulton’s? Both of those couples were very happy, and had told me it blew over easily. I slowly, reluctantly, pushed back my sleeve again. I held my wrist out to Adam, and he held it carefully. He held my wrist like it was the most precious thing in the world. Adam looked down at the name and chuckled. Of course he was laughing. It was his name.

I snatched my wrist away from him and got up from the floor, heading across the room to my desk. I picked up my science textbook and attempted to study. Adam walked up beside me and lifted my chin. Why did he have to be so gorgeous when I was in the middle of having an emotional crisis? One that he caused, for Christ’s sakes!

“Charlie,” Adam whispered.

I felt my face pucker into a pout as I looked up at him. I definitely felt as pathetic as I looked.

“I think your name’s on my wrist too,” Adam said quietly, and pushed back his sweater sleeve to show me.

Sure enough, in the handwriting I noted as mine, was the name Charlie scrawled across his wrist, surrounded by the Ducks insignia, skates, the Pantera logo, and various other things. I couldn’t stop staring at his wrist. It was . . . me? I was Adam’s soulmate? No fucking way.

I wrapped my arms around Adam and buried my head in his side. Adam ran his hand through my hair. We both knew I was in desperate need of a haircut, but Guy’s mom was too busy to work me in right now. Especially to work me in for free. My mom could do it, but as much as I loved her dearly, cutting hair was certainly not her strong suit. Cooking she was great at, cutting my hair, not so much. Guy’s mom had been cutting my hair since Guy and I had known each other. Sometimes it meant my hair got a little long when she couldn’t fit me in.

“Bear, you need a haircut,” Adam told me before leaning down to press a kiss to my temple.

I went pink and mumbled back, “Mavis can’t get me in for free for another month.”

Adam gave me a look. “What if I pay her?” he suggested.

My jaw clenched. I didn’t need him to pay for my haircut. I’d be fine. My hair would be fine long. “Don’t do that, Adam,” I protested.

“Why not? We both know I have the money.”

“My hair is fine long. If it grows out a little more, I can put it back like Fulton and I’ll be fine.”

Adam gave me a look.

I only glared back.

He sighed. “Fine, Bear.”

“You’re gonna pay for it anyway, aren’t you?”

Adam grinned and nodded.

“I hate you.”

“No, you love me.”

“Fuck you.”

“Gladly.”

I gaped, and punched Adam in the ribs. “That wasn’t funny.”

“It definitely was.”

Stefanie rolled her eyes when seeing Adam her ex boyfriend walking towards her. The reason they have broken up was a bit shocking to the ducks and even to herself. Adam was caught having sex with Lori Megling the school co cheerleader (No hate towards Lori she slays I mean she's so fucking pretty 😫). What hurts the most was that he had left Stefanie  then and there. She would never forget his exact words to her when breaking up with her. 'I'm sorry Stefanie...it's just that, that spark we had it's no longer there' harsh, right. The first few months without Adam was hell. Charlie would have to constantly drag me and or push me out of bed in order to get ready for school, he was always there for me when I was feeling insecure, and he was there for me to tell me to not give up on life and that Adam didn't deserve a wonderful woman like myself. That's when I realized that Charlie was the one for me, he was always the one for me I just never realized that. "Babe give me a couple of minutes alone please" Stefanie pleaded her boyfriend Charlie who hesitantly walked towards his group of friends at the end of the hallway "what do you want Adam?" Stefanie asked looking into his ocean blue eyes her face showing uninterest. "I've missed you, Lori and I broke up weeks after getting together" he said nonchalantly. This angered Stefanie "You know what no. You just want attention, you don't want my heart. Maybe you just hate the thought of me with someone else" Stefanie said a smirk evident on her face "You lost your chance cake eater....I'm with Charlie now deal with it" Stefanie said closing her locker before walking off towards her boyfriend not seeing the glare Adam sent towards her when walking away
