This is the last of the live oaks that was killed in the hurricane in 22. The storm destroyed many of our oaks, I had to trim them back to nothing but most are coming back and in a few years should be nice again.

🌲🪚Been there done that and now we don’t have to.
So we did something CRAZY. We swapped out our trusty nine year old gas chainsaw for an electric one and OMG why didn’t we do this sooner! Lighter, cheaper, quieter, no fuel or oil to buy, carry, or spill. No choke, no pull cord, no smell, no vibrations. Recharges in less than an hour for zero cost using our off grid solar system. Perfect for processing firewood and basic yard work around the cabin https://amzn.to/3W7Dau8
We also have a detailed off grid tools section you might find handy.

[I don't know whether to attack it with a chain saw, a canoe paddle. ...the answer is there is no answer. You're gonna make a mess. Is that what we're gonna with?]

Changing the oil in the chain saw
Tumblr media
To increase the life of your chainsaw, you need not only to know how to properly operate the tool, but also to be able to prepare the fuel mixture. Since the chainsaw does not have an oil pan in a two-stroke engine, the oil must be added to the oil. Otherwise, the friction force will increase, which means that the parts of the chainsaw will wear out quickly, the load will increase and there will be a significant loss of power and performance. If you fill in gasoline with a low oil composition, this will contribute to the development of such consequences - engine overheating, scuffing on the cylinder and jamming of the internal combustion engine. If you fill in a large amount of oil, then there will be carbon deposits on the cylinder walls, muffler and other parts. To find out the correct ratio of oil to gasoline, you need to look in the instructions for your car. The manufacturer specifies these important data for each unit separately. But if you don't already have an instruction, you should use generic data. It all depends on the time of year. If you work in summer, then 20 ml of oil is added to 1 liter of gasoline, and if in winter - 25 ml. In any case, you can find out detailed information about the types of oil, its features, read detailed instructions on how to properly pour a mixture of gasoline and oil into a chainsaw, here https://sawcentre.org/chainsaw-bar-oil - change/

Some live oak slabs I cut from one of our fallen trees using my chainsaw mill. The slabs are 2 3/8” thick X 9’ Long X 19” wide the slabs weigh about 100# just about all I can handle by myself. The piece in the four ground my wife wants me to make a bench out of, and the smaller ones on top will be great for small projects.
It’s been five weeks since the storm hit, we still have a long way to go cleaning up. We had to get a private company like many others to fight with the insurance company because they don’t want to pay for damages.
