Ch'p X Reader - Living two lives

Word Count: 1906

You sat at the bar drinking your beer. You were talking to a couple who had interesting lives. The husband grown up in Ohio, which is pretty far away from South Dakota. I mean you ARE in South Dakota right now drinking at your favorite bar The Dunk Place.

Once you notice that you finished your second bottle of beer you set it down on the counter. You looked at your favorite bartender, Ryan.

"Another one Ryan," You demand nicely.

"Another? Wow Y/N you must be strong today." Ryan noticed.

Your life was pretty bland. You have a job at Barns and Noble, early on in your life your family all died from a car crash including your Mom, Dad, and your brother. You were only eleven when the accident happened so your grandpa and grandma decided to take you in with them. Then they...died too, when you were twenty. It just seemed like life was against you. Everyone that you ever loved just vanished before your eyes.

Your second life was being a green lantern. You have been a holder of the ring for five months. You learned that your previous holder was Sinestro. Rumor has it that around the green lantern's planet Oa, is that he used to be a respectable leader among his comrades. When everyone heard Sinestro turned against them all some were hit hard, some were sad but held it together.

When you first arrived on Oa in your slim green suit. Your teacher was Ch'p the Squirrel. He had small ears, big fluffy tail, small claws, and his green suit covered over his whole body. He also would float, run on four legs, or stand on two legs. His mask had one patch on both of his two eyes. You never saw his own eyes yet just the covering of the mask. Ch'p was a great teacher to you, and a good friend, he was like your best buddy. He was kind, compassionate, fearless, honest, selfless, and most of all he cared about you. You were his student of course. He taught you how to fly, how to construct, and many more secrets the ring had. Surprisingly, Oa actually had a cafeteria. So when you were at lunch you talked to Ch'p and learned that he was born on the planet H'lven, which also consisted of anthropomorphic chipmunks and squirrels. You told Ch'p all about Earth. There being chipmunks, squirrels, sharks, dolphins, humans like yourself, and many more species. Ch'p was very interested about your background, and he felt empathy toward your dead family.

Your job as a lantern was to protect Earth your home. You occasionally talk to Hal Jordan who was also another Lantern assigned to protect Earth, and was a member of the famous Justice League. Ch'p's job was to defend his planet. Your jobs as lanterns in more detail is to protect certain areas of the galaxy called sectors from incoming threats. Yours was 2814, which was Earth of course.

Back to your current situation. You were peacefully drinking your bottle of beer until some man sat by you.

"So really pretty. Say why don't you come with me and go for a drive?"

You took one last sip of your beer before you smacked the bottle on the table and looked at the man with a very sassy and pissed off face. The man was about to touch you until you grabbed his arm and with all your strength you flipped the man over and he landed onto the floor.

"Thanks Kilowog." You quietly whispered to yourself. Kilowog teached you that fighting technique. Kilowog was mean and kind of a bossy person at first when you were in your beginners class with him, but as time went on he showed his soft spot and you two started to become friends.

"I already have a boyfriend." You told the already berated man. Then you quickly tipped Ryan and walked out of the bar. You quickly ran around a corner in the street and checked to see if anyone was around. You then took out your green ring and set it on your finger. The green fabric of your suit quickly appeared over your clothing, and your mask shined upon your face. You launched up in the air towards space, and traveled towards your destination. Oa, specifically to see Ch'p.

On Oa...

When you arrived to Oa you waited in the line for the green energy waiting to charge your lantern. You were also waiting for Ch'p to arrive you haven't seen him yet. Meanwhile, you were over hearing Hal's and Tomar-Re's conversation.

"It's just that aliens aren't entirely welcome on Earth. I guess you could say our form of entertainment is watching aliens turn people get turned into goo and humans at war with them. Right Y/N?" Hal said turning towards you thinking that you heard his conversation.

You got out of your daydreaming and looked at Hal, "Huh? Oh yeah in a way, but I just wished Ch'p could be on Earth. I'm just worried about him getting blown up by the millitary..." You just then kind of faded off into the distance thinking about the horrible things the government would do to Ch'p if they found him. Would they experiment on him? Turn him into a raccoon? Oh the most horrible things you can imagine.

"What is a millitary?" Tomar-Re asked in confusion.

"Let's just say they are our version of being the protectors of my planet." Hal admitted. "Anyway Mrs. Stargazer, don't worry Ch'p will come."

You again got out of your space-dreaming and looked at Hal in concern. "I just worry for him, that's all."

Once it was your turn to charge your lantern, you put the lantern up to the energy core and wait. After a minute you feel a gust of force against the lantern pushing you back a bit. Your lantern was charged. You step out of the line and go sit on the edge of a cliff and wait for Ch'p. That cliff was where you first trained with Ch'p and tested your flying skills. It was a great place for looking at Oa and seeing the stars together.

After a couple minutes your favorite squirrel finally arrived. He flew right into your arms as you hugged him, "Ch'p!"

"Y/N, I'm so sorry I got here late." He notified of his absence.

You brushed your hands against his ears causing them to flinch adorably, "It's okay I figured you were busy or something." You replied.

Ch'p cuddled onto your lap, "A sector needed my help for trying to stop a threat to their planet, which delayed my time to having to charge my lantern and being with you."

You kissed his forehead and petted his head. "Your my hero," You chuckled.

Ch'p gave a small sigh, "Being a lantern is hard. Although, I still wish my planet would accept me, instead I'm still an outcast. However, the guardians gave me a home and Oa is my home now." Ch'p reminiscenced.

"Heh, living two lives is harder than one Ch'p. Having to be a lantern and having to live my own life on Earth is a lot of hard work. I barely get any free time." You say slightly frustrated.

Ch'p then climbed up your body, his head and your head came into contact. "Come on, let's go some where private, just the two of us." You were actually a little surprised at this.

"Okay." You said as you both got up and you followed Ch'p. You followed Ch'p into a room or an environment that had layers of crystals lined up one over the other. The perfect place for some privacy.

You sat on a crystal as Ch'p jumped up on the crystal and sat beside you. "Y/N, would you like to see me without my outfit, I've...I've never shown my own body to anyone before. Besides my homeworld of course, but I've never shown any lantern what I look like beneath this suit. So, I want you to be the first." Ch'p told you honestly.

He slid the ring off his finger, causing his entire body to be revealed to you and his eyes. He had tuffs and a bunch of fur on his body, all of it being brown. The mask that hid his eyes and eye color had disappeared. His eyes were amazing, brown, cute, innocent, and handsome. You set one hand laying on his cheek as your other hand went through the fur on his body. Those eyes of his looked like he was struggling with some sort of conflict at first, probably him thinking about revealing what he really looked like to you, but now he looked like he was relaxed. He felt calm in your presence, like you were the only thing that could keep him alive.

You kissed the spot between his ears as you petted the fur on his body. "Ch'p, I love you, and thank you for trusting me." You then look at him in the eyes as you stroke the fur on his cheek. "You know you can tell me anything." You smiled.

Ch'p crawled up your body and when Ch'p got close to your face, as you held him in your arms. He gave you a little lick on your cheek making you chuckle. "I know, and I'll always love you. Your the only thing I think about when I'm not near you. I just wish we could be together forever, without being lanterns." Ch'p said his thoughts as he looked in your eyes.

"Heh, if we weren't green lanterns then we wouldn't have met. I will admit, it does suck but our rings are the only way we can see each other. It's okay Ch'p we'll figure something out, besides your the one who always brightens my day." You confessed as you pet the fur on his big, bushy tail.

Ch'p leaned towards your face, but particularly your mouth. "Y/N, I'm sure your species have their own way of showing affection, but I would be very grateful if I could do it to you." Ch'p smirked a bit.

You blushed of course, "You mean kissing, with your lips?" You asked making sure that was what he was asking.

Ch'p gave you nod. You both leaned towards each other, Ch'p moved his mouth in a little weird way, but had his small brown lips showing. You chuckled a bit. Both of your lips connected feeling each other's presence is what you both always wanted.

When you both disconnected you suddenly realized something, "Ch'p you don't have your ring on. How come you can speak English?" You asked.

Ch'p laughed, which would always make you smile. "I started studying your language ever since you were my student. Lanterns don't really study other lantern's languages, but for the love of my life. Anything." Ch'p gave you a small little lick on the neck.

You chuckled, and gave him a hug. You wanted to be with Ch'p for the rest of your life. Sure he wasn't human, but who cared? Your in outer space, things are already weird. Whatever the future had for the both of you. You both knew that you would be there for each other and would get through it together. Their was one thing for sure, you weren't going to let the guardians break your relationship.
