Cemetery in Olius, Central Catalonia.
This cemetery was built in 1916 following the design by the Catalan architect Bernadí Martorell. After crossing the wrought iron entrance gate, the whole cemetery is sculpted into the rock.
To the architect, the local rocks of the area, fallen from the hills, symbolize prostration and death; while the green leafs of the evergreen oak represent life.
Photos by Jordi Borràs Abelló, published in La Mira.
