I find it hilarious to think about Daryl leaving Judith, RJ, and Carol behind after the soul crushing goodbyes to go and bring Rick and Michonne home is just such comedically bad timing.

Because he had all these sad goodbyes then 2 weeks later* Carol is on the radio like “bestie, my love, they actually came back,,,there was literally no need for you to leave… you leaving me and the kids actually didn’t help at all now I think about it ?” but the radio isn’t that good and Daryl doesn’t hear any of that and Carol is like “well great, now I have to wait ANOTHER WEEK for him to get to the next radio so I can tell him” and then he doesn’t actually make it to the next radio because he ends up in ACTUAL LITERAL FRANCE and Carol is like “this is getting RIDICULOUS” and packs a bag and is like “kids,,, now that your real mom and dad are back I’m going to find out why your OTHER dad hasn’t come home yet I love you guys xoxoxo”

And she turns to Rick and is like “I know you expected to be welcomed back by your brother/ lover but he decided to play the hero again and tried to find you first so now I’ll go and bring our shared husband home… yes I know Michonne this is literally the same thing you had to do,,, no the irony is not lost on me… love you all see you soon xoxo” and sets off on her European hot girl summer while Daryl is just like …. “Oui 🇫🇷🥖”

I’m not 100% sure on the timelines at the min but from what I’ve followed I think it’ll work…

My soul needs Cailey Fleming to still be playing Judith when Rick and Michonne finally come home. Daryl and Carol too. That girl IS Judith. She looks so much like Lori and Shane (don’t shoot me it’s true) but she captures being Rick and Michonne’s daughter so well. That girl has the Grimes mannerisms down. And I need it to be HER that meets Rick. I need it to be HER that sees her mom again after all this time. I need it to be HER that welcomes home her Uncle Daryl and Aunt Carol. I need it to be HER whose little face we see finally happy and safe when her whole family is home and reunited. Not some recast older version. I NEED IT TO BE CAILEY. Please let the timelines work. Please let Cailey be the right sort of age when they film it (if it’s not already filmed)

I have so many thoughts.

I was so hyped at first when we learnt about the Rick movies. I thought, thats a way for Rick to reunite with everyone left and for us to learn what happened to him after 9.05.

I had no doubt he would reunite with Michonne and the kids - them not reuniting would be too cruel, and there would have been no point in him surviving then...

I had - and still have - no doubt about him reuniting with Daryl. This brotherhood is too precious - rightfully - for the fans. Amc know that.

- since there are obviously going to be casualties during the last 8 episodes of the last season, im worried for Rick to ever reuniting with what i consider now O.Gs amongst our group: Gabe, Eugene, Rosita, Aaron, Zeke. I guess we cant have everything but this is going to hurt. Ezekiel will survive though, im pretty sure abt that.

- Maggie's departure was ... off screen, she was at odds with Michonne and her reunion with Daryl and Carol was... off screen. And now she has a spin off with Negan. So i dont know how this will play out, but she better have a reunion with Rick and Michonne, and not a "oh you re there, cool" type of reunion.

When she learnt about the death of Tara, Enid, Jesus - and she was close to them- there was nothing but her reading a letter and look "a bit" angry. So i dont know how or if Rick will learn about the deaths of people that were well alive when he left and to which he was somehow close to, but i hope it will be mentioned and emotional.

But i disgress.

Now that we know what we know thanks to SDCC22, the only way for this final episode to make me "happy" (...) is if we have those things :

- a time jump, a few years (which i think is confirmed?)

- Richonne comes back, reunite with the kids, Maggie, Carol, Daryl and everyone left in a emotional way (this is the last episode with everyone together, i dont care if this plays out cheesy). Probably wont happen this way cause if Andy has been seen in Georgia for the last days of filming, Danai has not, if im not wrong, plus he might as well been there for a wrap up party.

- somehow Morgan shows up behind them to everyone's pleasant surprise (and especially Carol) - Richonne explains that they bumped into him sometime during their spin off - which means he probably heard about Henry by Michonne by the way.... 💔 -, and him leaving fear in s8 is explained (and will be explained in s8 of fear too obviously). Him not reuniting with Rick at some point would make NO sense at all.

- Caryl does not separate at the end of the episode, they move in to some place together far from everyone but happy, canon preferably - but i dont have my hopes high on this- , and Daryl spin off is set in between, with watever plot line.

In an ideal world, Aaron, Gabe, Eugene, Rosita and Lydia all survive, but this wouldnt be the walking dead if this was the case.

- Lydia is happy wherever she ends up

- Ezekiel is alive and well, his cancer is cured and he meets someone in the last episode with the hope of a bright future, like the "oh she's nice lets see where this is going" type of way, open ended.

- Gabriel learn about what happened to Jadis and get closure (that if he is still alive by then..)

- Negan would obviously "reunite" with Richonne too, and then leave with Maggie (and Herschel Jr?) for their spin off, but i dont really care how this plays out.

- Princess is living her best life with Mercer

That would be sort of my "ideal" finale. Probably far from what is going to happen.

And it is only my opinion, you dont have to agree of course.

People keep trying to hitch their ships to the backs of richone and while generally I can ignore it, it's kinda starting to bother me a little. Even being bludgeoned over the head with the facts of richonne people still want to say that Daryl is more important to Rick or whatever else they can think of to invalidate his absolute love and devotion to his wife. It's tiresome. I hope these people get Caryl or whatever hell else they want so they can leave us a lone and stop tagging richonne with their complaints.

As utterly beautiful the Richonne renuion was, amd they deserved it don't get me wrong...It's just their love making scene is EXACTLY what I imagined it what it would like for Carol and Daryl. I mean exactly, from the fear, the overwhelming emotions to the point of tears, the hesitation and finally letting 12 years of burning lust and desire break threw all the barriers and they would ravage on another. We have for years talked about when they have sex the scars they both have would be kissed, we talked about Daryl being afraid to the point of trembling like he couldn't believe she was real and finally in his arms..If they do go Canon I hate to see a copy cat scene smh 😞🥺 Maybe they could play it like two fumbling teenagers, unsure, nervous and giggly...laughing and setting the mood light only for it to turn into passion later?! 🤔 I dunno...I hate to even talk shit about the The Ones Who Live 1x4 cause man was it powerful and beautiful. Danaii outdid herself writing and direction 2 the episode,no one knows the characters better then her and Andy..They our both powerhouse actors, see the charactersto go from enemies to lovers and face so many obstacles and just falling deeper in love is so beautiful, but to also show how hard it can be and things aren't always what we expect them to be. But despite the setback and heartbreak you keep fughting for ezch other. ANYWAY COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC 🤦🏻‍♀️MY ENTIRE POINT WAS, Where you also kinda sad about the Richonne lovemaking scene? With it being pretty much being exactly like thousands of caryl fanfic, and was what we all expected when they are finally intimate that's how it be?

To be honest, I've been staying away from all the towl discourse due to how quickly it turns into a ship war where everybody is trying to invalidate everybody else. I'll say this though (and nothing further unless or until it ever feels safe again to discuss). To me, apples are apples and oranges are oranges. Richonne is Richonne and Caryl is Caryl. They have completely different histories and I'd expect there to be plenty of nuance even if they both hit the same story beats at times.

For Caryl, there's a lot of trauma that goes hand in hand with their sex lives. We can infer that Daryl has guarded himself for a lot of his adult life and Carol has had to survive, serve, or maintain control, but sex with each other would be an entirely new experience for them because it would be about expressing how deeply they love each other and how completely they trust each other. I think Daryl would be hellbent on making it good for Carol and she would allow herself to be vulnerable/taken care of. We wouldn't see her leave in a hurry afterward like she did with other partners. She'd stay in his arms. Fumbling like teenagers maybe would've made sense in S3 of the flagship show, but their relationship is far too mature for that now.

I'll do a more in-depth post on sex where I can just focus on Caryl without making any comparisons, but hopefully this answers your question for now.

absolutely no hate toward the richonne fandom, i am très happy for you and hope you remain well-fed, but jfc, seeing those gifs on my dash makes the sleeper agent that lives in my internal organs start to roll around and threaten to wake from its slumber bc i Cannot think about anything but how badly i want to be well-fed as a caryl shipper, and i am so resentful at how much this show/ship still has a hold on me. 99% of the time i can suppress it, but the second something reminds me of caryl i start to become unhinged. this ship has permanently rewired the circuits in my brain and i will never be truly free 💀
