I really like the idea that for the first few months of them hanging out post-HoO, Will had no idea Nico had stayed at CHB before. He was under the impression that Nico was more or less new to camp, since he had been a rogue demigod, and that he had just been an ally of CHB up until that point who had been to the camp but had never been a camper. The entire time Will just assumed he was the senior camper between the two of them, not knowing Nico had actually joined camp almost a whole two years prior to him and was instead returning.

Nico eventually realizes Will’s misconception and tries to explain it, but Will thinks Nico is messing with him until Nico explains the crack in the dining pavilion (which no one at camp besides Percy knows the origins of, save for maybe Annabeth, Grover, and Chiron) was from him the night he ran away (and maybe also shows Will his camp beads to further prove he’s not making it up, depending on if you believe he has one from BoTL or not). Will then gets to have the fun little journey of recontextualizing everything he knows about Nico.

fairly unsurprising answer but: ice: when he came to see Carole to apologize for killing goose in ch 2 of wwgattai (sets the tone of their relationship)

mav: something very benign like mav doing magic tricks for him as a little little kid. you know how your earliest memories are always a little fuzzy and always afternoon sunshine? imagine a desaturated maverick sitting crosslegged in the grass in pale afternoon southern california sunshine showing Bradley how he can detach his thumb from his hand and then put it back again. no blood, no bone, no pain, and he’s got this daredevil grin like he’s enjoying separating his thumb from his hand. can’t see his eyes behind his aviators. the best magicians are the ones who can make even their pain disappear. or, playing “got your nose,” holding Bradley’s nose up so he can see it right in front of his very eyes, NO PAIN!, and then making it disappear. “where’d your nose go, Gosling? oh, my gosh, I lost your nose!! how’re you gonna smell? i bet you’re gonna smell bad. get it? get it? —here it is, i found it, don’t worry, it’s all good!” and putting his nose back so everything’s ok. that’s Bradley’s earliest memory of mav.

But then I saw a gif of him fighting in The Long Ballad with his sheathed sword that looks like a green bamboo staff, and BAM. Sold. That's a Shen Qiao if I ever saw one.

from his role as Lan Xichen, we know that Liu Haikuan can play elegant, soft-spoken characters with a spine of steel, and quite frankly the man is unfairly beautiful, so yep, those are the prerequisite traits for playing Shen Qiao!

#also — how do I put this — Liu Haikuan looks like an adult #and I think for me that's something that is really key to Shen Qiao's character #he's not your usual 18-21 young male protagonist fresh out of idol camp #Shen Qiao is 30+ and it shows in his steadiness and reliability #his relative lack of experience comes from growing up in an isolationist mountain sect #but his maturity and sensibility and steadfastness and tranquility come from enough life lived to be firm in his own actions and beliefs
