Byron De Wolfe | Villager | 281 | Hellhound (Beta/Pride) | Versatile
"Cause darling, I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream."
Anoush the Nightmare was better known as "The Mother of Monsters" for a good reason. She raised up a family of demon hybrids as soldiers, assassins, and weapons for hire or purchase. If asked, she would say she loved every single one of her children. Byron was the result of her wanting more hellhounds and finding a useful Alpha who she discarded as soon as he'd served his purpose. Byron grew up into the Second Vampire War, serving his mother's need for soldiers as soon as he was old enough. He fought on the side of the fae and his nearly unkillable nature and violent frenzy made him terrifying even while he was little more than a child. He was an attack dog let off the leash to tear his victims into literal shreds.
When the war ended, his mother quickly shifted sides as if she'd always served the vampires, and Byron was left in the awkward position of having been too good at killing. Anoush began renting him out as a killer-for-hire, which filled a need in him but often left him feeling resentful and angry. He didn't want to be just an attack dog, he wanted to make his own choices, and mostly he wanted to only kill the people he decided needed killing.
He and Anoush had a rather aggressive falling out during the early 1900s and while they have since reconciled, Byron has never fully forgiven her for forcibly summoning and commanding him. She has since had other, more obedient children and allowed him to have his freedom. Byron became what he called a "retrievals expert": if people wanted things, things that had either once belonged to them or that they felt SHOULD HAVE belonged to them, he would acquire them. His talents helped him in this, and if he got caught, well, he had to eat souls sometime. His invisibility, teleportation, and the ability to make his victims hallucinate meant that while most people never even knew he'd been there, he certainly could make sure their memories of him were hazy. His ability to track a victim meant that he could follow his targets to the ends of the earth if needed, and he managed to shift some of his blood lust into the pride at successfully snatching whatever item he was there to get.
He worked for various patrons at Krovs Castle and had eventually relocated to the town as his home base to better serve his customers. To avoid anyone getting suspicious, he even has a job at Euphoria working as a bartender, though he's known for changing shifts or calling out with little notice. He's well-known at all local watering holes for getting into bar fights, causing mischief and chaos, and generally leaving the Krovs PD wishing they could catch him doing something illegal enough to deal with him more permenantly. As long as he has friends up at the castle, this remains merely a wish.
Positive Traits: Fearless, ingenious, tenacious, funny, passionate
Negative Traits: choleric, hot-blooded, relentless, frenzied, feral
3 turn-ons: wrestling/playfighting, being chased/chasing, rough sex
3 turn-offs: scat/vomit/watersports, age play, impregnation

Raphael strode into Euphoria right before opening to check in on things on the club. He likely didn't need to as the owner with plenty of staff and a manager to assist with keeping things in line but the ghoul much preferred being hands on with his businesses. After all, the reputation of his ventures directly affected his personal reputation, especially here in Krovs before the rest of his fellow councilmen, and even the slightest falter in customer service in Euphoria could be considered unforgivable.
One such instance that had been flagged to him by the manager was the new bartender Byron De Wolfe. Surname felt a bit on the nose considering he was a hellhound and all. A hellhound with connections to someone he knew well in the demon hybrid creation game. Money and connections helped him in his background search to discover Byron and Anoush's history –– the latter being someone Raph employed himself once or twice to create some of his own slaves. Still, alliances and acquaintanceships likely wouldn't protect Byron from the prideful ghoul's ire as he addressed the issue. The club manager mentioned that the hellhound was good at his job when he was there but sometimes dipped out early on his shifts unexpectedly. He saw Byron there getting ready to open and Raph strode over to the bar, greeting him with a friendly smile.
"Mr. De Wolfe, how are you today?" he asked.

so you’ve talked about ‘ a song of ice and fire couples ‘ that are like jonsa but what about couples from classic literature ex: Odysseus and Penelope or Hades and Persephone
I remember a jonsa blog that made a series of classic literature couples that parallel jonsa, but I can't find it now 😭
But I can tell you some couples from literature in general:
Robb and Laurie Blackburn from A Song for Lya by GRRM. Robb describes Laurie as a radiant auburn haired beautiful girl.
Dunk and Tanselle from the Hedge Knight by GRRM.
Beren and Lúthien from Tolkien universe. Beren spies Luthien dancing and singing to herself. More here.
Arwen and Aragorn from The Lord of the Rings by Tolkien.
Wilfred of Ivanhoe and Lady Rowena of Hargottstandstede from IVANHOE by Sir Walter Scott. GRRM also parallels Rebecca with Sansa so we can count Ivanhoe and Rebecca as well.
Simon and Princess Miriamele Erkynalder from Memory, Sorrow and Thorn by Tad Williams.
Hareton Earnshaw and Catherine (Cathy) Linton from Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë.
La Belle et la Bête (Beauty and the Beast) written by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve. More here.
French version of Beauty and the Beast called 'Le Loup Blanc’ (The White Wolf) that appears in the book Contes Populaires de Lorraine by Emmanuel Cosquin, published in 1887.
Victor Frankenstein and Elizabeth Lavenza from Frankenstein or, The Modern Prometheus by Mary Wollstonecraft (Godwin) Shelley.
Eugénie Grandet and Charles Grandet from Eugénie Grandet by Honoré de Balzac: “Dear Eugenie, a cousin is better than a brother, because he can marry you,” said Charles. More here.
Selim and Zuleika from the Bride of Abydos by Lord Byron.
Vicomte Raoul de Chagny and Christine Daaé from Le Fantôme de l'Opéra ( The Phantom of the Opera) by Gaston Leroux.
I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot here. I will updated when I remember other couples.

To hell with the New York Times's top 25 commercial/luxurious travel experiences. You can have your own. Here's some of mine, and reflecting on them makes me feel quite replete and not in need of any gourmet well-beaten trails. I hope you have yours.
--travel the pilgrimage trail of St. Jacques de Compostelle from Paris to the Spanish border as a teenage art historian, with the great Mme Francoise Weinman interpreting, 1978.
--bathe in a bathtub on a hillside on Western Shoshone land above matriarchs and federal challengers Mary and Carry Dann's ranch in eastern Nevada while listening to Lucinda Williams for the first time (music courtesy of Lauri Di, who then gave me the homemade cassette), 1991.
--raft trip on assignment for Sierra Magazine, 1995, in a roadless wilderness the size of Portugal in NE British Columbia, where the whole community of wildlife was living its many lives largely undisturbed.
--Dance all night in the streets of Paris, Fete de la Musique, circa 1998, be serenaded by Timothy O'Toole's brother with Marianne Faithful's "Ballad of Lucy Jordan" in parting. (Research for Wanderlust was the official reason to be there.)
--Seattle Nov. 30-Dec. 1, when the protest in the streets galvanized the poor countries to resist the World Trade Organization's bullying on behalf of the rich corporations and countries and the fate of the world took a left turn. "When hope and history rhyme." Thank you David Solnit, who had a lot to do with it.
--Hike with Lucy Lippard to the remote valley whose entrance is framed by two great natural stone slabs on each of which a life-sized cornstalk petroglyph appears; take Barry Lopez to see the life-size bear petroglyph nearby and the giant zig-zag snake petroglyphs, get drenched in a monsoon rain together, New Mexico circa 1999-2001 or so
--Multiple times participating in the Good Friday pilgrimage to Chimayo, NM, circa 1998-2010, witnessing the landscape, the devotion and dedication, the generosity, and the low-rider Cadillac of the stations of the cross.
--find the exact places Eadweard Muybridge, Carleton Watkins, Ansel Adams, and Edward Weston stood to make their iconic pictures of Yosemite with Mark Klett and Byron Wolfe (in what became our book Yosemite in Time), and camp out in the supremely serene jeffrey pine forest south of Mono Lake while working on the project, 2001-4
--repeat visits to New Orleans to first understand the terrible things of Hurricane Katrina and then fall in love with the wonderful culture and dance in various second lines, etc., 2006 onward....
--Zapatista Women's Encuentro, late Dec.-January 1, Chiapas, Mexico, with Marina Sitrin and Sam Sitrin
--Iceland, summer of 2008 (partly melancholy, but studded with epiphanies): "I traveled a little, and on the south coast of Iceland had one magnificent midsummer day that began with a long walk on a path edged with tiny flowers past the largest glacier in Europe, went on to a bay in which the glacier was calving icebergs that were vivid blue in a blue inlet of the sea, and then traversed a long strand of wet sand that reflected the white clouds and blue sky so that heaven and earth were indistinguishable, and the clouds overhead seemed to be almost close enough to touch and those near the horizon seemed to be very near infinity. It was as close to a vision of paradise as I’ve been granted with my eyes open. After that I saw another bay full of hundreds of swans and a steep valley through which dozens of thin waterfalls trickled and poured from the heights. That day ended at a robin’s nest Klara showed me in the low willows in the quiet light at midnight, five small mottled eggs like turquoise stones."
--first visit to David Rumsey's map collection, San Francisco, with David's visionary insight into cartography....-
-two weeks aboard a Swedish vessel circumambulating Svalbard in the high Arctic, 2011
--Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, raft trip, summer solstice, 2014 (also working as a journalist), but also thank you Michael Brune and Dan Ritzman https://www.theguardian.com/.../alaska-wildlife-sanctuary...
--Mt Burdell in green winter splendor, over so many years...
--wake up at Standing Rock to see thousand of joyful people celebrating their determination and solidarity on the great green prairie, 2016 (I went there to report for the Guardian, all too briefly)
--Traveling with Dolpo Tulku rimpoche through Dolpo, the Tibetan plateau/Buddhist land in which he is the spiritual leader, fall 2017, with Roshi Joan Halifax and various others, and doing another version of that route in 2015 that repeats Peter Matthiesson's in The Snow Leopard, including being welcomed into Shey Gompo, and seeing people engaged in daily life on almost medieval terms: plowing with yaks, threshing and reaping and winnowing by hand, traveling on foot or by beast, weaving on wooden looms, tending livestock, crossing high passes up to 17,600' high, spending a month on foot (and occasionally horse)....
--the enchanting walk from the Baldock train station to the cottage Orwell lived in 1936-1940s, through wheat fields full of flints formed undersea and rural rights of way, crossing the ancient Icknield Way (returning to where I first met those roses he planted, if they're his, on Nov. 2, 2017), 2019, walking it again this summer with Rob Macfarlane, 2022
--So many mornings of glorious light at Ocean Beach, because like all of you I also live in the destination.
--camping with my great-nieces who make everything new and exciting again. p.s. Just a reminder: I have had adventures, but my everyday life is staying home quietly turning words around and trying to make meaning with them.

Kian Patrick Culligan: One of Four Dullahan. He represents the horseman Death. during 1736 BC, he and the Morrigu kill each other and, through death, become anam cara. He was murdered in the Colonies and raised by Donn, becoming Donn's best Dullahan.
Supporting Characters
Aodhan: Celeste's Irish draught. Celeste purchased Aodhan with the last of her family's fortune, making her live off the land as a peasant. Aodhan is both a reminder of what she overcame and a bitter memory of her family's wealth.
Aithne: After Kian died and was brought back to life, Aithne loved him as a lover, but she is one of Donn's favorite merrows. She is depicted as having jet black hair and a black finned tail.
Ciaran Llwewllynw: He is a Protestant landowner's son. Ciaran is smitten with Celeste. He is a painful reminder of her lavish lifestyle in France.
Claud: Celeste's loyal hound. He is an Irish Wolfhound and her constant companion.
Cuirealan: Kian's steed. He is really a pooka who advises Kian and antagonizes Celeste when she is captured.
Tumblr media
Magic does exist in Heart of the Horseman. It is not like Harry Potter where it is said by spells or learned.
Only the Fairy Host and the Tuatha Dé Danann have access to any magic. It is defined as mystical, paranormal, or even supernatural in nature.
In Heart of the Horseman, there is an unseen world where creatures such as the Faery host dwell. Prophecy is well documented in Heart of the Horseman. The Lebelle family had visions that a goddess would be born into their family.
Actual magic is rarely seen in the “modern” world. The “fair folk” and the fairy host are able to conjure fire, create light to dispel darkness, read “minds and memory”, able to communicate telepathically, and command nature.
All fair folk are immortal. They can die, but they are reincarnate with their memories intact. The high-born have the ability to see the fairy host and are considered to be more powerful than the lowborn. The Morrigan is one of the most powerful high-born.
Some fair folk and members of the Fairy Host have anthropomorphism. The Morrigan is able to transform into several animals: including a heifer and a black wolf.
If everyone in the world were able to use magic, there would be no witch trials or belief that a woman would exchange her soul for Satan’s assistance and to employ demons to accomplish magical deeds.
If Celeste was able to use magic from the start, she would have had a better chance of escaping the Dullahan. It would change the plot from Kian trying to pursue her.
Tumblr media
❗ Limits
Magic cannot burn snow or other unnatural effects. It can burn natural things.
It is extremely difficult to communicate over long distance. Once Celeste realizes who she is, she will tell Kain through telepathy that it could even be impossible without the scrying pools that the Fair Ones created.
The effects of magic can always be felt by those sensitive to it. These people who are sensitive have been called many things: mediums, psychics, and mystics.
Shapeshifting was extremely rare. Even the most powerful Fair Folks still have difficulties in changing their physical shape. The Morrigan is one of the only ones who are known to have mastered it. Donn is another.

Photography: Powerful Ansel Adams Show Centers His Love For Nature – And The Peril It’s In
San Francisco showcase brings together the photographer’s works alongside contemporary artists who build on it
— Gabrielle Canon in San Francisco | Saturday 8 April 2023
Tumblr media
Ansel Adams (American, 1902–1984) The Tetons and Snake River, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, 1942 The Lane Collection. Photograph: Ansel Adams/The Ansel Adams Publishing Rights Trust
From towering granite monoliths to textured tree trunks, Ansel Adams’s renowned black and white photographs have offered generations the chance to see the beauty and importance of nature through his eyes.
Now a new exhibit at San Francisco’s de Young fine arts museum gives viewers a new way to connect to the artist himself. Ansel Adams in Our Time, on display from 8 April through 23 July, brings together more than a 100 of Adams’s works alongside 23 contemporary photographers who reflect and build on it. The exhibition also returns Adams to the city where he launched his career and continues the conversations he began about conservation and national parks in his first exhibition at San Francisco’s de Young museum nearly a century ago.
Tumblr media

The exhibition will include some of Adams’s most famous works, including a photograph of Half Dome under the moon and a beloved self-portrait featuring the artist’s shadow – complete with his arm extended to the sky, light meter in hand – against a rock face in Monument Valley.
Alongside, the gallery walls will also portray perspectives from new artists whose photos build on Adams’s work while seeking broader reflections on the natural world and the way people engage and impact it.
These include collages created by Mark Klett and Byron Wolfe, who layer photographs from Adams and others over more modern captures, leaving viewers with panoramic views of Yosemite through time. Catherine Opie’s photographs sharply contrasts Adams by casting similar subjects in a colored blur while CJ Heyliger, the exhibit’s youngest artist, showcased beauty in the mundane by focusing on details in landscapes less sought after, like glass scattered across the desert.
“It is great to see contemporary photographers taking up his legacy and looking at it, criticizing it, and finding new ways to approach these problems that Adams was addressing in his photographs years ago,” said Sarah Mackay, an assistant curator for the show.

‘Ahead of His Time’
A master technician, Adams stewarded his images through an arduous photographic process, starting with lugging large cameras up steep terrain, enduring long waits for good light, and finally the metered dance – set to the beat of the metronome he once relied on as a musician – of darkroom development that granted him ultimate control over the final outcome. But in his writings and recordings, Adams credits his impact not to his technique, but to his eye.
“The whole world is, to me, very much ‘alive,’ all the little growing things, even the rocks,” Adams once wrote. “I can’t look at a swell bit of grass and earth, for instance, without feeling the essential life – the things going on – within them,” he said. “The same goes for a mountain, or a bit of the ocean, or a magnificent piece of old wood.”

His work has taken on renewed urgency as the iconic locations he photographed across the American west – including Death Valley, Grand Teton and Yosemite – grapple with a changing climate.
Positioning Adams’s work alongside that of contemporary environmental artists offers visitors a new framing of the climate crisis and the importance of conservation.
“The thing I find so exciting is realizing how ahead of his time Ansel Adams was in terms of thinking about these issues,” said Karen Haas, lane senior curator of Photographs Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
Adams is perhaps most associated with Yosemite national park, and his images of its sweeping views and soaring granite slabs through the seasons helped shape the park’s identity while it in turn shaped him as a photographer.
“The Whole World is, to Me, Very Much ‘Alive,’ All the Little Growing Things, Even the Rocks” — Ansel Adams
Armed with what he called the “spiritual-emotional” connection to the park and other wild landscapes, Adams’s portrayal helped ensure the national parks would remain protected places. In 1975 he took his message to the White House, gifting President Gerald Ford with a print of Yosemite. “Now, Mr President, every time you look at this picture,” he urged, “I want you to remember your obligation to the national parks.”
National Parks in Peril
Today those parks remain cherished but also in peril, caught between the pressures of extreme weather and surging tourism. Photography that spurred appreciation for the wilderness has also helped flood these areas with footsteps. Growing crowds and tourist-catering amenities are increasingly at odds with conservation efforts as parks push past their capacity.
Adams saw the problems unfolding even in his time and often resisted what he called “resortism” in the parks and their development for public use. In his images he typically erases signs of people to offer a more pristine view of the landscapes.

“We see Ansel Adams photographs and we don’t see them peopled,” Mackay said. “He is in some instances removing them from his photographs.”
Yosemite – one of the most visited parks in the nation – is a quintessential example of the difficult balancing act between enabling access and ensuring the lands are preserved for generations to come.
The past year has put the extreme seasonal swings that Yosemite faces on full display. In summer the park was shrouded in smoke from nearby wildfires, followed by a winter of snowstorms that closed down the park for weeks and damaged the winding mountain roads leading into the valley.
“The Thing I Find So Exciting is Realizing How Ahead of His Time Ansel Adams Was in Terms of Thinking About These Issues.” — Karen Haas
The curators feel strongly that Adams would have had a perspective to share about how these issues have unfolded. That’s why, they said, including new artistic voices has elevated the potential for impact.

“It’s bleak realizing how little has changed and how much work we still have to do,” said Haas reflecting on the enormous scale of problems posed by a warming world. But, she added, the exhibit has brought her hope, with its potential to both inspire awe and action. It’s a feeling she hopes viewers share.
“With this exhibition we can finally put this great master in conversation,” she said, “and let these contemporary figures show us the concerns that continue today.”

Thomas Wolfe. Ser escritor
Thomas Wolfe.

Dude, you got an oc for Pirates of the Caribbean too??
Just, how many ocs do you have that you have never spoken about? O.O
Hi there, Nonnie!
Yes, I do have an oc for Potc!! 😁😁😁
as for how many ocs I have......
let me just say.
MANY.
A GARGANTUAN AMOUNT.
Now, you have to take into consideration I created my first oc for fandom when I was a wee bebe of 11 years of age, and it was the year when "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" had just come out, and I had just fallen HARD for Draco Malfoy. I still remember distinctly coming back from the cinema and start imagining all these scenes in my head, while listening to my walkman, and at a certain point, I just felt that imagining wasn't enough anymore. I needed to put all those ideas down into words AND pictures.
And since then, I have NEVER STOPPED creating ocs for any fandoms that had meant A LOT to me.
I have something like 22 years on my back of creating ocs, so, as you can imagine, I HAVE A LOT OF THEM.
But allow me just to list down the fandoms and the characters I created for them, for the sake of it!😂😂😂😂
brace yourself, this gonna be a long one! (and I will limit myself to the main characters, not to the secondary one I created around them, because otherwise we would be here until next Christmas);
So here you have it, in no particular order:
The Lost Boys - Robyn Irons
Resident Evil - Thalia Thériaud
Assassin's Creed - Lucia Barbarigo (AC2), Aura the Selkie (AC Rogue), Colette, Antoine and Mathias Beaumont (AC Unity), Dorothea Starrick, Byron Harrison, Phillip Starrick (AC Syndicate), Isinofret (AC Origins), Apollonia of Naxos (AC Odyssey)
The Wolf Among Us- Tatiana Volkov
StarDew Valley - Carlotta De Saint-Exupéry
The Arcana - Raniya Al-Yassin
The MCU - Grace and Veronica Caruso, twin sisters
Elfquest - Nimue of the Northern Tribes
FFVII - Ranian Pendragon-ShinRa, Lilirara of the Forgotten City
FFX - Kiani Ronso, of the Ronso Tribe
FFXII - Nabirye Leia Ondore, Niraj Halim Ondore, Fearchar Aetius Bunansa
The Chronicles of Narnia - Winter, Sovereign of the North
Disney Fairies - Boreas, The Fast-Flying Fairies
Kingdom Hearts - Suen of Twilight Town/ Nexus of The World that Never Was
LOTR - Elwen Anariel
Harry Potter - The Dumbledore Siblings (Stephanie, Samantha, Andrew, Maxwell)
Pirates of the Caribbean - Eleanor Josephine John Henry Morgan Silver
A Song of Ice and Fire - Briallen Baratheon
My Little Pony G4- Ice Crystal the Pegasus, Fleecy Snuggle the Earth Pony, Nurse BebeHeart the Unicorn
Sailor Moon - Sailor Artemis, Sailor Hera, Sailor Demeter, Sailor Aphrodite, Sailor Athena (also known as the Sailor Olympus Group)
Star Wars - Kuni Laikantaar
Miraculous Ladybug - Ophélie Duval, Aida De Luca
Naruto - Sayuri "Onitora" Kureaki, Yukaku "Onikarasu" Kureaki
Percy Jackson & the Olympians - Viktoria Katsumi Kimball, Child of Ares
Labyrinth - Loreena, the Unicorn Fairy
Monster High - Aisling Skellington, Bran Skellington, Albine DesRoches
Ever After High - Gwenhwyfar Swan
Ouran Host Club - Alexandra Margaret Seymour
FullMetal Alchemist - Arkady Armstrong
Tekken - Mizuya Mishima
Interview with the Vampire/VTM - Artemis "Cainsblood" Hargreaves
So, there you have it, Nonnie. A very summarized list of the majority of Ocs that I have created in the last two decades of life. This is what happens when you have 0 social life, you are an introvert and an hermit, and have ADHD a fervid imagination, and a passion for researching and coupling Canon Characters with OCs.😂😂😂😂
I think I have probably still forgotten some, especially the one that I have created during my teenhood, but eh, my memory is not the best, and those that I listed here are the ones that I cared the most about anyway!
thanks for the ask!!
