“Are you going to gut me?”.
Mihawk makes a non committal sound, frozen as a stack of ice in Benn’s arms.
“...Shanks would be pissed if something happened to me”, Benn tries again, feeling as if he’s trying to appease the mast of the Red Force as he lightly rubs the swordsman’s back.
He’s not sure if Mihawk deliberately ignores the teasing edge of his words or if it just flies over his head, but the joke hangs over their heads, rancid like the smell of the storage room.

Or, extremely extroverted captain invites his extremely introverted friend with benefits to a party without realizing that the social battery of said introverted friend is shot to hell. Benn Beckman tries to save the day.
Feautures in no particular order of importance: Benn hugging Mihawk, Benn gossiping with Mihawk about Shanks and Benn embarrasing Shanks in front of the boy he likes, as it's his God given right as best friend.

bad buddy fandom getting-to-know-you meme!
@cornflowershade thank you for tagging me beloved <33
note: i consider "fanworks" to pretty much everything people create related to a fandom, including but not limited to meta/analysis/discussion, gifs, fanvids/edits/fancams, filk, fanart, fanfic, fan food, fan crafts, etc. please include this note with the meme unless you have a different definition!
name and whatever you want to share about yourself - I'm Dee, she/they <3
when did you watch bad buddy/join the fandom? - OH MAN so bbs was my first thai bl, and I found it through an Instagram reel! I had just finished a show and was kind of bored + also starving for queer content, so I went home and instantly binge watched the whole series. And long story short here I am!
favorite ship(s) - inkpa (the lomls), patpran (they're so skrunklgy), waikorn (they could make each other worse <3)!
favorite character(s) - THAT'S HARD if I had to pick... Ink. Definitely. Then Korn
favorite episode(s) - hmm I binge watched bbs so I don't really remember distinct episodes?
favorite scene(s) - okay actually my favorite scene is one I don't think I've ever properly talked about but it's the end of... ep 10 I believe, where patpran hug up on the rooftop. Firstly, the whole deal associated with the rooftop is already so so good, but just the way Pat and Pran trust each other so much, the way they turn to each other for comfort. I think that scene really embodies what I love about the series, which is that patpran face external factors but their relationship in and of itself is so stable and secure.
one thing you would change about the show if you could - definitely agree with sonia, more inkpa! Also, less of patpran's friends being pricks? I understand that's part of the conflict but man they're just rude sometimes
what are your some of your favorite fanworks made by other people? - it's impossible to choose favorite fics because all the bbs writers are amazing and I love everything they write, so any bad buddy fic I've ever bookmarked is a rec!
(if you create fanworks) what are your favorite fanworks that you’ve made? - AHEM OKAY to date I've only posted 2 fics for bbs, which are very different tonally but I love them - breathe you in, keep you close to my heart and zero sum game (you're so pretty)
a song that makes you think of bbs (the ones in the show don’t count lol) - every song is patpran if you try hard enough, but also Talk Too Much by COIN and Love You Like That by Dagny.
idk anything else you want us to know? - I'm so grateful to bad buddy for introducing me to bls as a genre, and I hope we keep upping the bar for fantastic representation and shows!

I’m actually new to the Tumblr RP community and it’s sort of confusing to take in at first so I’d love some advice, thank you so much in advance for anything!
I’m not really sure where to start or how to search for roleplays, appropriately make or tag them, or terms like “muses”? I’ve seen it around, but I’m never sure what it means.
My only experience in getting involved in the roleplay community on other platforms would be through things like “communities” or basically a big user ground labeled “something RP”, but there’s nothing like that here. How would I reach out / extend my reach?
Oh!! Well first and foremost, welcome to the RP side of Tumblr! It's been a few years since I've been active in the roleplay community myself, so I encourage you to take my advice with a grain of salt as I'm sure things have changed!
That being said, starting into the rp community can be a daunting task for sure. Navigating tagging, links, etc is an acquired skill, but certainly not impossible! Just remember to be patient with yourself and allow a few dink-ups along the way.
Now, let me preface this by saying that the tagging system here is dogshit! Completely terrible! But using appropriate tags for your roleplay is still extremely important, as it helps other individuals either find you or avoid you! Lengthy roleplays can be a bit of an eyesore on the dash if you aren't involved in the community so using #rp or #roleplay each time will help the filters out.
I strongly recommend checking out this blog for more relevant roleplay etiquette, which also has some pretty great information on the tagging system! The individual running it has stepped down though, so it's just for perusing and not an active help blog!
Now, muses! Muses are simply a source of inspiration. In the sense of roleplay, they are the chosen character the roleplayer is using in the RP. Fictional or nonfictional, original or established, anything can be your source of inspiration. A similar term thrown around is a face claim. A picture of the muse to display, very simply, what the character looks like. That can get messy if you aren't careful, as you want to make sure you're crediting the artist or not claiming pictures of someone else's original work under the guise of 'inspiration'. Some use photos of celebrities or stock images, not as official 'this is what my character looks like' but more as a 'this is the ballpark of vibes I'm going for'.
Remember, if you want to have a specific picture for your muse, commission someone to make it for you, or make it yourself! The RP community can be fantastic for exploring other hobbies, depending on what kind of flavor you want to implement! I've seen people make comics, paper crafts, or customized photography for whatever their scene requires! I've even been a part of an immersive horror rp that went on for months as a real-time mystery.
To get yourself out there, I HIGHLY recommend fandom first. It might be a bit controversial, but having a fandom oc or character will start you in an established universe and provide the basics of familiarizing yourself with roleplay. From there, you can expand universes and begin interacting with other non-fandom characters!
And how would you interact with them? Roleplay memes/ask games are a great source, those huge lists of prompts with numbers next to them? Yeah those are fantastic for getting started. Just choose a few of them at a time and start writing! Just don't over exert yourself! If you aren't getting any replies or interaction, that doesn't reflect on your ability by any means. Just have patience and write for your OWN enjoyment.
You can also send prompts to other RP blogs! People usually love reblogging those big lists so if you have a few folks in mind that you'd like to start roleplaying with, shoot them an ask!
Anyways, I hope you can glean what you need from this response! If there are any specifics you'd like to know about, I'll always be here. I wish you best of luck with establishing yourself within our roleplay community, and once again, welcome!!

Remedy Skin Tag Remover Reviews 2022 Secret Updated Facts Behind Tea Burn Revealed!
Tumblr media
Quesaco Remedy Skin Tag Remover? How does it work? How will it work? When will it work?
Remedy Skin Tag Remover if you are seriously interested in preventing wrinkles Lefery Day Paraben Free I have good news and bad news. The good news is that the new Anti-Aging Wrinkle Cream is now available, which does fantastic things to help today's women prevent wrinkles. The bad news is that using an anti-aging wrinkle cream isn't all you need to do to prevent wrinkles Remedy Skin Tag Remover price, the best wrinkle prevention program takes a bit of effort and involves more than just using anti-wrinkle.
First, let's see why our skin Leferi parabens day it starts to shape wrinkles and lines and crow's feet as we age, and why our skin seems to sag when it never did before. Because there is no doubt that aging is harmful to our skin and bad skin is detrimental to our self-esteem. As we age, our skin begins to lose Remedy Skin Tag Remover price collagen and elastin, Lefery Day Paraben Free are the two most important skin proteins.
Remedy Skin Tag Remover For Women Over 40 Do you have signs of aging skin? You Remedy Skin Tag Remover price since the study on the symptoms of skin aging prevention? Are you concerned about sagging skin, wrinkles, crow's feet and lines on your face? Should you take these signs of skin aging as part and parcel of aging, or are there things you can do about them? An interesting question. There is no doubt that as we age, our skin ages with us and signs of aging skin begin to appear. We all get wrinkles, lines and sag on our faces as we age, it's really just a matter of time.
But "when" we get their very important factor, and although there is no way to prevent skin aging showing the Remedy Skin Tag Remover comments wrinkles and sagging, Remedy Skin Tag Remover we can affect "when" and prevent them from form, or minimize them directly in our later years. But if we do nothing, we will probably form these much younger signs of skin aging. Therefore, by taking measures, we can do something, even if it is unrealistic to avoid these symptoms directly in our 80's. and 90. years, even if our Genetics are very good.
Remember, when, if you tense up, her skin, Remedy Skin Tag Remover forum dragged and let go, she would come back into place? As you lose the collagen and elastin of this composition is able to break back, this elasticity is gradually lost. If your skin cannot "bend back", it will begin to deform. This creates wrinkles and lines, and completely normal. The loss of collagen and elastin is a normal part of aging for everyone.
Modern big brand and Remedy Skin Tag Remover anti aging skin care products are trying to solve the problem of collagen and elastin getting into their bottles of face creams and anti aging creams. The problem is that the molecules of these substances are too large and do not penetrate the skin, so the collagen and elastin are simply washed away at the end of the day. Maybe it will end on the pillow.
This is one of the main reasons why these Remedy Skin Tag Remover forum top cheating brands skin care products make very little Remedy Skin Tag Remover. They sell well due to saturation, TV advertising, but not very well. Or not at all. And some, in fact, may contain dangerous substances that can damage the skin, believe it or not.
Opinions and comments on the Remedy Skin Tag Remover. Product user reviews.
So if you are interested in preventing aging skin and signs of aging such as wrinkles and sagging, you can do so with great reviews on the brand. But don't be desperate, there is a solution. There is a small niche of side effects skin care companies that do excellent research on aging and, in particular, aging skin, and find solutions. Some fine Shark Tank Skin tag Remover products now entering the market contain seriously good quality ingredients for skin care.
And modern skin care science has also found a way to get Bioxelan keratin and use it in skin care. Surely you have already heard of Remedy Skin Tag Remover forum keratin in the skin, it is a necessary component of the skin structure. Traditionally, keratin has been extracted from the horns and hooves of animals by the heat Remedy Skin Tag Remover and acid review side effects, but it destroys keratin. Thus, the keratin extracted by this method is not realistically applied to the skin. But recent discoveries have found a way to obtain keratin from sheep's wool without using heat or acid, and this creates a very effective form of keratin that is of real use on the skin.
These products are gradually becoming available and used ом in skin care. But they are not used by big brands because Remedy Skin Tag Remover believes they are too expensive and reduce profits. And if you're selling tons of skincare products because of saturation, TV advertising, why waste profits by overpriced products? But specialized skin care company works hard at very high quality skin care products research wonders to prevent aging skin problems, and these companies, in particular, Remedy Skin Tag Remover reviews have some anti aging products very good ones available now. But because you can't compete with big brand advertising, you're unlikely to have heard of it.
How long does it take to see the Remedy Skin Tag Remover effect? Are there any side effects? What composition?
Therefore, market their products in different ways. Put them in the budget the best quality Remedy Skin Tag Remover products possible and offer a money back guarantee, so someone like you can try products risk free to see how they work for you. So, if you are serious about how to use Remedy Skin Tag Remover in France interested in preventing aging problems in the skin, there are contraindications skin care products nearby that help prevent aging signs of skin that may bother you, such as sagging and sagging. Find and try it risk-free and you'll be amazed the difference is in your aging skin.
Skincare is a topic that gets closer to your heart the older Bioxelan gets. As you age, interest in using the new anti-wrinkle cream contraindications increases, and you may begin to read more avidly about anti-wrinkle skin care. However, it may surprise you to know that Remedy Skin Tag Remover in France, the best skin care to prevent wrinkles can't find the best new anti-wrinkle cream on the market. The best way to prevent wrinkles has nothing to do with anti-wrinkle creams.
Our skin health, and progress of our skin at the effect of wrinkles and ingredients, sagging, more about our lifestyle and overall health of Remedy Skin Tag Remover. Skin health follows overall health, and it's very difficult to get a great looking look of youthful, glowing skin if we're completely unhealthy. Better health translates to a better look, and healthier skin. Whether we are looking for Remedy Skin Tag Remover in France the latest new anti-wrinkle cream or not.
Collagen and elastin are both responsible, together, for our skin health, youth and elasticity, as well as our Lefery Flexibility Day paraben free skin. And the loss of collagen and elastin means that our skin starts to lose elasticity with Deor Skin Tag Remover, so gravity takes on our skin much more than parabens like the composition before. Where in the past we could pinch our skin, pull it and let it go back in place, now that we do, our skin just doesn't do it well, nothing else.
And of course there are other овые factors. Of course, at our age, it's a huge factor in the appearance and health of our skin, and there's nothing we can do about it. 20 years old is only more likely to have bigger skin than 60 years old. It's Remedy Skin Tag Remover in France just a fact of life. But as long as we don't do anything about our age, Bioxelan has a lot of things we can do for our health and at the same time achieve the best skin care for wrinkles and wrinkle prevention. It is very simple. Notice, I just said, not easy.
What is the Remedy Skin Tag Remover price? Where to buy them? Is it possible to buy in a pharmacy or online from a Manufacturer?
The first thing we need to do is minimize the lifestyle factors. The Remedy Skin Tag Remover lifestyle factors in pharmacy a major contribution to our health and skin health. One of the worst things you can do to your skin and your body is smoke. It is well known that smoking has a very negative effect on our skin. People who smoke have an older looking skin effect when they are younger. Wrinkles develop earlier and are more pronounced. If you smoke and want your skin to look better, quit smoking now. And your body will thank you for doing so in many ways other than the health of your skin.
Then follow the exercises. If you're not training, then you should. Good exercises impact your overall health and the price of your skin health. A growing body of research shows the major benefits of exercise in Skin Biotix MD Skin Tag Remover on many aspects of our health. You need to create a good workout, not only for your skin health, but also for your overall health. And like I said, two go together.
Finally comes your diet. A change in your Remedy Skin Tag Remover regimen may be the best skin care for wrinkles you can enjoy doing. Not only will a good diet improve your skin health and appearance, but it will also affect your overall health. And at Pharmacy Remedy Skin Tag Remover risk of relapse, for Bioxelan Skin Health follow our Global Online Health. Our diet high in pizzas, Remedy Skin Tag Remover drugstore burgers and processed foods is not good for our skin, not good for our overall health. We need a diet rich in natural vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and essential oils, and you won't find too many of them in pizza, burgers, or processed foods.
Why doesn't adding collagen and elastin to bottles, skincare products work? Because the application of collagen and elastin Lefery Day Paraben Free comments on our skin does not make sense, because the molecules of these 2 proteins Remedy Skin Tag Remover in pharmacy are very large and the scam is not for the skin. But the big brands put them there anyway because when people see them on the label, they still buy products without realizing that putting them in the product doesn't work.

Yay I have questions about fantastic beasts! I am so excited you watched it, feel free to spoiler tag this or answer it later if needed!
I think I remember you thought Grindelwald was INFJ then ENTJ now back to INFJ again. Is that because of inconsistency between movies? He has a diabolical ruthless practicality even in this movie, how do you argue it's Fe over Te?
I'll try not to spoil anything for anyone. ;)
He seems extremely gifted with Fe in the first film, and far more callous and detached in the second, and in the third one again, he's somewhere in-between -- but he pretty much straight up uses people to do his bidding 24/7 by motivating them, manipulating them emotionally, and telling them what they want to hear, or even taunting them as a last emotional dig ("Who will love you now?"); evil TJs don't use these tactics, because it wouldn't occur to them to attack people's emotions in that way. Like it or hate it, feelers are emotionally "aware" of other people and how to appeal to them on that level, and that's where Grindelwald goes automatically, which means he's a feeling type. His "plan" in this movie is to convince the masses he is the right person for the job, rather than just seize power through force. He needs/wants their support and approval. He could be ENFJ given his high levels of success in mass-manipulation and getting others to follow him without question, but it feels like Fe is his "tool" to get things, rather than his way of life (not dominant).
Another thing I noticed, you know how he talks about the 'stench' of muggles? And later he rolls down the windows so he can be carried off by his supporters, because he wants to feel the moment or something? Is this how Se manifests for high Ni users, being immersed in their senses but it's given some idealised interpretation or symbolism?
Yeah. It also indicates low Se awareness of the danger he is in -- NJs in particular can be reckless in their self-confidence; he believes he is all-powerful and desirable to the masses, so there is no risk in walking into the middle of a mob that could literally tear him apart. It's the thrill of engagement without thought for his survival. I don't know what type his female second in command is, but she may be a 6w5 -- "this is dangerous." She assesses the situation as a potential threat, whereas he sees it as the manifestation of his vision / of his acceptance and earning the accolades and praise he craves.
I also wanted to ask about Dumbledore's enneagram. You went from 5 to 1 to 9 if I remember correctly. In the books, he has this critical schoolteacher quality to him, like when Harry doesn't make an attempt to find Slughorn's potion in time and Dumbledore guilt trips him for failing to meet his standards. Whenever he's truly pissed off, his anger is usually described as cold or icy as well. I always took this to signify 1ish qualities, why did you decide on 9w8 over 9w1? Am I misinterpreting 8 to be explosive or aggressive, could it be cold as well? Or would having moments of being cold, icy and having high standards for others just be an INFJ thing regardless of enneagram?
Dumbledore has always been tricky for me, since the books / stories portray him in so many different ways. I mean, we meet him in the very first chapter, where a 1 (McGonagall) says she doesn't think they should leave Harry with the Dursleys, because "these are the worst sort of Muggles imaginable!" and Dumbledore just does the wizard equivalent of a "shrug / whatever, it will be fine." Then we see him through Harry's eyes, in which he is a dottering old "fool" with a twinkle in his eye, but who is still... amazingly calm a lot of the time. Unlike Michael Gambon played him in the films (ahem), Dumbledore tends to react "calmly" to Harry ("Did you put your name in the Goblet of Fire, Harry?" Dumbledore asked calmly). He can stand in front of the Mirror of Erised and only see himself holding a pair of socks, since he is fully content with himself. All 9ish qualities.
But the wing is tricky. I could honestly see 9w8 or 9w1, either one -- 1s tend to appoint themselves as gods in their judgments, and he certainly does that at times -- with Snape, with Harry, etc. Is he concerned with the morality of his actions? Is he assuming that he alone has the right answer and so others must follow him? Yes. I would need to read the books again, they're kind of a blur in my mind in terms of characterization (I have an "impression" of Dumbledore), but he could very well be a 9w1.
It's interesting, I was talking to a fellow Potterhead earlier today about how I could see my own 6-ness in how I reacted to the events around his downfall in the books, and who was responsible for it. (Spoilers, if anyone is actually clueless about this.) My reasoning was very 6 / attachment. Dumbledore is trustworthy (he has proven himself), he knows more than anyone else, and so, like Lupin, I had to believe that if Dumbledore saw the good in Snape and believed in him, Snape could not possibly have betrayed him and murdered him as accused. Because Dumbledore trusted Snape, and I trusted Dumbledore, I also trusted Snape -- in spite of all the petty, stupid things he did that were just plain unnecessary and mean. So Snape killing Dumbledore 'shook me' because... was Dumbledore that wrong in his judgment of Snape's character? Nah. Snape would be vindicated, I just knew it. I approached the entire thing in a very "heady" way, which is how I do everything -- I think about it, analyze it, and reach a conclusion.
But my 9 INFP friend is... so not like that at all. There's no analysis, just a Fi-driven reaction accompanied by gut instinct. She doesn't like Snape, and she doesn't like Dumbledore either, so there was no rationalizing the why of Snape's actions, so much as a judgment against them. We then debated what construes 'morality' for each of us, and it boiled down to (for her) "whether I approve" (Fi-dom) and for me "whether it serves the greater good" (big picture + 6 super-ego stance). Interesting, huh?
The question of Hermione being a 6 (with a 1 fix) has also been raised elsewhere, which means I'll have to think back and consider if her reasoning about Snape follows mine, because if I remember right, it does... "Harry, Dumbledore trusts Snape, so he must be okay!"

as a survivor, it's so insulting to hear you call shippers pedophiles because of what they write. and you're wrong about therapists. my therapist literally was there when I started my dark fic writing blog because she saw that having a place to document my intrusive thoughts was helpful. just because someone ships something doesn't make them a pedophile. pedophile has a meaning. don't dilute it.
Hello! I’ve truly missed getting mail like this, I’ve been lacking in that department lately, but here we go!
Writing/depicting sexually explicit things of minors and then romanticizing said things is horrific. I personally suffer from Intrusive thoughts, though they are not sexual in nature. I’ve posted the definition of a pedophile already, and there’s a miles difference. Pedophiles create these things and get off to it, and it is incredibly clear when they do. You can tell when they are writing it as a form of eroticism. I myself have- in curiousity at the downright bizarre tags on AO3- have read one or two Maxvid fanfics. And to say I was thoroughly horrified would be an understatement.
Let me give you an example, Picture This by Vincent V. Cava, my absolute favourite writer, I own the first Creepypasta Collection published by MrCreppyPasta and own one of Mr. V. Cava’s books, Pastel Colored Dreams & Human Flavoured Nightmares. Now, Picture This brings in the theme of Necrophilia, as the man who cremates the main characters kills is a Necrophile. While not being graphic, it gives enough of a picture to give you a mental image of this person and how they’d act. The theme is brought in well, and used in a fantastic way to describe a villain. Now, let me reiterate. A villain. He is a bad guy, 100% and it is undeniable. Mr. V. Cava doesn’t need to be indepth and graphic with the Necrophilia to allow you to picture it.
Now, a Maxvid Fic, lets go with.... Deep Snow, I won’t (mainly because I cannot remember the authors penname, haha) give their user, incase some people decide to take it upon themselves to send threatening messages to the writer. To my recollection, Deep Snow was surprisingly well written, the gist of the plot was that David was a pedophile, he lured max out of his tent, beat him immobile before violently raping, murdering, and burning his corpse. No, there is an obvious horror aspect to that, what with the unnerving atmosphere that was produced by the author. But the author also made a sense eroticism, it was almost tangible throughout the story. But, it was also clearly horror with a rape fetish. Now, David in that seems to be very much a bad guy in that, so the author at least gets points for not ranticizing it.
Lastly, this fiction called Max’s Daddy... Raunchy name.. In just the description, it is quoted in ““Please Daddy,” Max begged. “May I have a taste?”” This is pure, none dark fiction. Entirely smut, from what I can see. This fic romanticizes this relationship between them as a good thing. A positive relationship between an adult and a child. David is a good guy, despite being a grown man sodomizing a child. This is written purely for sexual gain, to get the authors rocks off. Now, tell me how writing descriptive scenes between a man and a child engaging in sexual activity isn’t pedophilic behaviour. I mean, Max is 10, meanwhile David is 24. It’s horrific, romanticization of childhood sexual abuse.
And just for fun, here’s the defintion of pedophilia (again):
Pedophilia (alternatively spelt paedophilia) is a psychiatric disorder in which an adult or older adolescent experiences a primary or exclusive sexual attraction to prepubescentchildren.[1][2] Although girls typically begin the process of puberty at age 10 or 11, and boys at age 11 or 12,[3] criteria for pedophilia extend the cut-off point for prepubescence to age 13.[4] A person must be at least 16 years old, and at least five years older than the prepubescent child, for the attraction to be diagnosed as pedophilia.[4][5]

Is Livejournal still an active platform? I think when I first got into fandom LJ was more of a place for kink memes (not necessarily based in erotic content or ships) than just a fanfic scene. FF. net was more popular at the time. As much as I feel Ao3 is superior to FF, I think it had its bonuses. I appreciated being able to PM other users and the forums, features Ao3 doesn't have. What were some bonuses to LJ, if you don't mind my asking?
I don’t think LJ is active much anymore, no. Everyone once in a while I’ll go check out my Friends page to see if anyone is still posting there, and there are a few, but not a lot. Policies killed the fandom community on that site, and it’s really sad. Free speech is important, y’all. On the other hand, those policies are probably why AO3 exists, and that’s a good thing.
LJ was a BIG upgrade from FF.net, that was for sure. It wasn’t specifically made for fanfic, so you had to have some rudimentary HTML knowledge to put links to your chapters, and also had to make your own table of contents (here’s mine), or at least tag your posts in a way so that people could find your fanfiction if they wanted to. It had a private message function, yes, as well as a Friends page, which was basically a dashboard (without a reblog function) where you could scroll through and view all of the posts made by the people you had added to your friendslist. You also had the option of making your posts private, so only friends could see them, and also make friends groups WITHIN your friendslist so only THOSE particular people could see. For instance, I had a lot of friends, because I tended to friend back anyone who friended me so they could see my private posts for the rare things that I wanted to hide from the world but was okay with fellow fans seeing. I made smaller friends groups to view fellow writers, so I could see their stuff when they posted it, and another smaller group for people who I knew would be willing to beta my work, so I could send out a request for a beta if I needed it without cluttering up the Friends page of everyone who had added me, and an even smaller group for friends that I trusted with deep personal secrets for when I really, really needed to vent. Those kinds of posts were called “friends locked” or “flocked” for short. When I was obsessed with SPN and deep in that fandom, I checked my Friends page multiple times a day. I keep my following list on tumblr quite small because I don’t have the time to read hundreds and hundreds of posts, and tumblr doesn’t have the function to narrow down who you see on your dashboard.
LJ also had the ability to make communities, where multiple users could post on the same blog, and we had fic communities for every permutation of fandom under the sun. Big ones for all SPN fic (those were incredibly active), ones just for gen, ones for hurt/comfort and whump, ones for crossovers, specific ones for each pairing… Whenever I made a post with a fic, I had a list of about five communities that I would cross-post to, basically with a header and a link to the full post. And the fic finder community, of course, which I think was the most valuable of all, where someone could make a post asking for a specific idea they wanted to read and everyone else could comment with fics they knew that fit or almost fit that desire. Or if you had read a fic a long time ago and couldn’t remember the name or title, you could describe it as best you could on the fic finder community, and chances were someone would know what you were talking about. A lot of my fics got mentioned on fic finder communities multiple times, whenever someone asked for deaged fics, haha.
The biggest advantage of LJ, though, and I think the reason it became THE place for fanfiction for a while, was the nested commenting. AO3 has the same kind of comment system now, where one person starts a thread, and then the author can respond, and they can go back and forth. If the thread gets too long it will get shortened so those going through the comments don’t have see every single comment written on the entire story, just the first ones. This was a huge upgrade from FF.net, which didn’t even allow replies to reviews for a long time. If you wanted to respond to someone’s review, you had to PM them directly and tell them. And your replies didn’t show on the review page, and the reviewer couldn’t write back. Nesting comments on LJ changed all that. Now people could have entire long, involved discussions in the comments of any post, any fic. And people did. It wasn’t always just the author and a single commenter having a conversation, either. Sometimes other people joined in, and we’d have long squeefests and share headcanons (though that word didn’t enter fandom vernacular until tumblr) and talk about the show or whatever we were writing about. It was a great place for making friends and sparking ideas.
AO3 did well in bringing that commenting system over to the archive, but it doesn’t usually get used the same way it did on LJ. I think it’s because AO3 is a place specifically meant for storing fic, not necessarily a social media service, so there’s not as much emphasis on making friends and forming personal relationships. Sure, you can subscribe to people and follow their work and make bookmarks, but there’s no Friends list or anything like that. It’s just a different thing. And since tumblr doesn’t have nesting comments, there’s not the option to have those sort of conversations here, either. I mean, you sort of can, by reblogging replies and having discussions in posts, but it’s awkward and it gets reposted to your dashboard every time, and it gets really annoying to have to scroll the bottom every time.
Messaging on tumblr is a little better, but it’s a chat with just one person. You can’t have multiple people in a direct message, and even with those it can be very hard to scroll back and find earlier conversations. This why I think Discord is such a great addition to the current fandom life. You can have conversations with multiple people about anything you want. It’s more freeform, since you’re not responding to a post in particular, but it still works well for building relationships and sharing headcanons and ideas.
Tumblr is not without its advantages. The reblog function means that something good, that grabs attention, can spread around the fandom very quickly. But it’s definitely much better for art than fic, and that’s mostly because of the way it’s designed. It’s an art-sharing service with a half-assed messaging service in the sidebar, not a social media site the way LJ was. It’s for artists to make art and other people to follow them and occasionally ask questions, so it really encourages a BNF mentality and jockeying for position rather than making a circle of friends and developing them. Fandom has found ways to socialize anyway, because life finds a way, but it’s not like LJ, not at all. Sometimes I really want LJ back, to be honest, but that ship has sailed. There was an attempt with Dreamwidth, but for some reason most people just moved their fandom activity to tumblr instead, possibly because the existence of LJ and tumblr overlapped and many people who used LJ already had a tumblr when LJ collapsed. That was how it worked with me, anyway. The novelty of tumblr probably encouraged the movement here, as well. People love the new.
I think most likely what will happen in the future is tumblr will screw the pooch in a major way and fandom will migrate off it, just like we did from the old webrings  to ff.net, then to LJ, then to here. Probably some savvy fans will make a social media site actually MEANT for fandom, like, perhaps, pillowfort.io, which looks absolutely fantastic, just needs some bugs worked out and more people using it. That’s what happened with fic archives: fans got sick of all the problems with FF.net and LJ and made AO3, and it’s great. I’m looking forward to getting off this site, honestly. Let the migration come. I just hope all of you come with me.
