please please PLEASE if you haven’t already, go to your blog settings and enable custom theme. just enable it. you don’t have to customize it (but i do recommend that, it’s not as intimidating as you’d expect and you get to decorate your blog). just enable custom theme. on all of your blogs - sideblogs too. It’s actually a really good way to show you’re not a bot.

Tumblr is slowly, quietly phasing out custom theme blogs and is making it progressively more and more difficult to navigate directly to them or to posts in custom themes, which means it’s more difficult now to see posts or anything on the site if you’re not logged in. This doesn’t particularly help against bots because you can’t interact with a post if you don’t have an account anyways, and bots do make accounts so it doesn’t matter. Also double-check that custom theme hasn’t been turned off on any of your blogs, since it’s off by default now and if you never customized your theme that update reverted those blogs to have no custom theme.

tumblr is one of the few platforms left where you don’t need to be logged in to see a post if it’s on a custom theme blog, and one of the few platforms where you can still fully customize your page. we don’t want to lose that!

use tumblr’s customer support - there is a feedback option. tell them directly whenever you don’t like an update. tell them you’re absolutely sick of tumblr live and want it gone. this is a blogging platform - tell them firmly that we don’t want to be Twitter 2.
