Death Appreciation Week!

With Dead Boy Detectives hitting our screens on the 25th April, and with our girl Death of the Endless making a guest appearance, it seemed only fitting that we should celebrate her in the run up to the show's release.

So I will be running a Death Appreciation Week from Thursday 18th April to Thursday 25th April which will be a celebration of all things Death of the Endless!

Participation is easy. You can go through the prompt list below, and choose to create in whichever way you feel most comfortable. I am keeping this event as flexible as possible so the prompts aren't tied to set days, you just go for whatever you feel most inspired by whenever you can make the time and ideally if you are able to complete a prompt of your choosing each day of the event well then you are a star and I love you!

Rules for Participation

All types of fanworks are permitted. Fanart, fanfics, gifsets, meta analysis, polls, even just sharing your fave comic panels or official artwork is fine. The goal is to celebrate this amazing character in all her forms.

For your work to qualify for submission to the event, it has to prominantly feature Death of the Endless as the primary focal point. Whilst I encourage exploring her relationships with other characters, the point is to highlight Death as the central character in the work.

the hashtag #Death Appreciation Week must be tagged in all works for the event.

Anything goes! I welcome all ships, all types of work, all themes and content. NSFW is absolutely fine if that's your jam. We don't kinkshame here either. So long as everything is clearly tagged you can literally create what you want.

The prompt list is just a guide for inspiration but literally any fanworks that focus on Death can be included. You don't have to follow prompts if you don't want to.

This is a love fest for Death - which means no hate, discrimination, exclusion, etc. Please also keep criticisms and complaints out of the event tag.

A few posts recently have mentioned having beta readers or fandom friends to talk story things over with. Do you or any of your followers have any suggestions on how to find beta readers or like minded people to connect with in a fandom?

All of my beta readers (the few that I've had) have been people I was already friends with first. If you don't have fandom friends (yet) and need a beta sooner, I suggest posting on your social media accounts saying that you're looking for one, and add it to the end notes on a chapter or fic. You'd be surprised how often that works.

As for finding friends, here are a few of the things I've done myself:

drop into someone's ask box. Send a message in greeting, reference a recent post of theirs, ask a question from an ask meme they've posted, compliment their fanworks or theories.

create fanart or a fic for them. Waaaay back when I first joined the Agents of SHIELD fandom I saw a post where someone was talking about their Labyrinth AU fic and I did a quick photoshop of Fitz as Gareth. Immediate fandom bestie who introduced me to like 5 other people.

comment on their fanart and fics - either on AO3 or in tumblr tags etc. Let them know that you see them and appreciate them. Ask them a question about what they created and start a conversation that way.

put a question out to the fandom. Write a tumblr post, add a question to your fic notes on AO3. It can be something serious or silly, but if you welcome answers and respond to people, you'd be surprised what can happen. For example - this wasn't supposed to be an ask blog. It just kinda... happened.

Let's see what suggestions other folks have for making friends or finding beta readers. There's a LOT of options out there!

#Vote to End OTW Racism

A Call To Action

Earlier this week the OTW responded to our previous action and reaffirmed their commitment towards combating and preventing racism within its platforms. 

They also thanked us for working to keep holding them accountable to their goals and we intend to keep doing so. 

To that end, Fandom Against OTW Racism is calling for our Second Action!! This action is centered around the upcoming Board Elections set for August 11-14. We want to encourage everyone who can to participate in the election process and spread the word far and wide about these elections! 

Currently, 4 of the 7 Board positions are up for election, which is a majority. Now is the time to get involved. In light of multiple accounts coming forth about the state of the organization, it is clear that fundamental changes need to happen – and those can only happen with a shift in leadership, from what we currently have to one that is capable of supporting and implementing those much-needed changes.

Please join us in calling upon our fellow fans to vote to make things better for all of us!

How to get involved:

With four Board Seats open, now is the perfect time to act and make this issue a key component of this election to select people who demonstrate a commitment to combating racism in our fannish spaces. So if you can, please plan to vote this election cycle!!

If you already are a member, use your voice and Vote. If you have donated in any of the fundraising drives for AO3 in the last year, you are likely eligible. You can check your eligibility status here by selecting “Is my membership current/Am I eligible to vote?”

If you are not currently a member or eligible, consider donating $10.00 so that you can gain membership in OTW and be able to vote. In order to vote your donation must be received by June 30th. 

When donating you can add ‘End OTW Racism’ to the ‘In Honor Of’ field if you feel comfortable doing so.

Can volunteers open themselves up to more prompts if availability changes/can people change the number of prompts they’ve marked themselves available for at a later time?

Absolutely! It will all depend on how many prompts we get, though.

Will there be a social way to contact other participants in the project?

Yes, they’ll all be added to a discord server shortly.

Where can people send proof of donation?

We’ll post the link to a form where the contributors will be able to send proof of donation as well as their prompt(s).

What is the deadline for art/fics/edits?

They may be posted all throughout June, so the hard deadline is June 30, 2024.

Do I have to post the art/fic/edits on my account when completed? (particularly for nsfw)

Preferably, yes. NSFW art can also be posted to ao3.

Will we be able to contact the person that submitted the prompt we're given, if we have any questions?

Yes, that will be possible. (Applies to art, fics, and edits)

Is it ok if participants don’t use discord/are only available for contact via email?

That’s perfectly fine, we can contact the participants via email, tumblr, or twitter, though discord is preferred.

How long will prompts be?

No longer than 100 words.

Are there any word count expectations for fics?

None at all, but we encourage writers to make their fics longer than 1.5k words.

Should the fics be tagged any specific way on ao3 to make it clear they’re for the project?

The fics need to be tagged with MWPProject 2024 Fandom Initiative, and they’ll also be added to a collection. 

Will prompts be filtered/checked for inappropriate/hateful content before they are given out?

Yes, any and all prompts will be checked and approved by the mods.

Can volunteers reject a prompt assigned to them if they are not comfortable with it?

Yes, the volunteers can contact the mods if they wish to change their prompts. 

How long do volunteers have to complete their contributions?

Prompts will be assigned between April 23-30th, and posting begins June 1. They can, however, post their works all throughout the month of June. 

If a volunteer doesn’t have any public socials, do they have to post their art/fic/edits?

They may create an ao3 account, there’s plenty of time for them to request one.

Do artists need to attach their names to the art?

If they want to remain anonymous, they may post their work to ao3 and we’ll keep it anonymous within the collection.

Are simple prompt requests ok?

The prompts can’t be longer than 100 words, so simple prompt requests are ok.

Would I need to donate the equivalent of 5USD or am I okay donating 5 dollars in my currency? (non US based donations)

It has to be the equivalent of 5USD in whichever currency you use.

Can someone donate on the behalf of another person who is unable to do so? 

Yes, they only need to let us know about it. 

May I post anonymously to the collection?

Yes.

Do volunteers have to be a part of the discord server?

It’s not required but it is highly recommended.

Can you keep my email private/make sure it’s not shared outside of the mods?

Only the mods have access to the emails, you don’t need to worry about that.

Are there any preferences in terms of characterizations/appearances of characters?

No, but it is recommended to not be too specific so that the volunteers can work with their prompt as best as they can.

If donors have specific requests for how characters are drawn/written, will they be in contact with the volunteers assigned to their prompts? 

Yes, but at the end of the day, this isn’t commissioned fanwork, so the end result will be entirely up to the volunteer in question. Micromanaging will not be allowed.

If a volunteer is filling multiple prompts, can they decide how long each one is?

Yes they may.

Will prompts include tropes?

That is up to the donor, but being too specific with the prompt may make it hard for the assigned volunteer to fulfill it satisfactorily.

What will the prompts look like?

We will provide a form where the donors will be able to specify the pairing and their prompt. Please note: when listing pairings, use the Character Name x Character Name format (i.e. Remus x Sirius), versus ship names (i.e. Wolfstar), as some ship names aren’t well known, or vary across the fandom.

Does sketch mean actual sketch, or should there be a more polished final product?

Up to the artist, as styles and practices vary person to person. 

Can volunteers post their contributions on any social platforms?

Yes, they can.

Should writers characterize based on their own headcanons, or based off the wishes of the prompter?

The priority is fulfilling the prompt as it’s been given, but the volunteers can find a middle ground if they’re not entirely comfortable with something.

Where/who can I contact if later questions arise?

You can send an ask to the MWPP blog, or you can send an email to [email protected]. All mods tumblr urls are listed on the MWPP blog, and all mods will be available to answer questions in the discord server as well. 

How will we navigate if a volunteer is assigned a prompt they are uncomfortable with?

You may contact the mods and we’ll change it, bit please only do so if the prompt is genuinely something you cannot work with, as reassigning prompts may be troublesome for the mods.

Will I have to explicitly state in the final product that it was created for the project?

Yes.

Do I have to post the fic/art/edit, or can I just send it to the prompter?

It needs to be posted, but it may be posted anonymously via ao3.

Can I participate as an artist with a collage rather than a drawing?

We won’t be accepting collages, as that is technically not original work and it wouldn’t be fair for the prompter.

Purpose?

Not enough horror-themed fanworks in the world about the Superfam. Got jealous of the Batfandom having all these horror-themed events and projects, so I decided to host one for the Superfam.

Why should we participate in this?

Because you like seeing the soupeyfam in ever-increasingly fucked up situations that elicit a deeply-rooted, ancient dread :3

So how does it work?

The release date for fanworks is from Monday, the 8th of January through Sunday, the 14th of January, 2024. 

This aint a Halloween-themed event! You have well over three months to write, draw, and create fanworks. However, use the spooky season to help generate some ideas and propel you forward! :3

This an opportunity for people who’d like to explore the Superfamily characters, dynamics, and relationships through a variety of prompts. Although romantic ships are nice, please make sure the Superfam are the focus of your fanwork.

Darkfic, horrorfic, genre-specific work, and other both safe and not-safe-for-tunglr dot hell tropes are welcome. Just make sure that you post any Mature content on a landing page that doesn't restrict Mature content (like AO3). I don’t want anyone getting their blog banned. We cannot defeat our capitalist overlords, but we can definitely work around them.

This fanweek will not have a dedicated blog. These prompts are free for anyone to use. Because it is a non-traditional, non-monetized, and free-to-opt-in casual event, there will be no mods but moi, no advertising of paid services, and no ratings or participant restrictions. I will open a collection on AO3 in January for anyone who wants their work collated for this event.

In order to ensure that both creators and the audience are making informed decisions about what they engage with, all creators are encouraged to include triggers, ships, and any other squick warnings. 

Please utilize the read-more function for fanworks that are longer than 250 words. We're tryna read yer stories, not get spammed with a wall of text. Please Be Courteous.

And last but not least - if you are engaging with any of the fanworks, reblog, reblog, reblog! Share the work with your followers. Send all the love to the creators for crafting their masterpieces!!

What can I contribute?

Fanart (standalones, comic strips, etc.), fanfiction (one-shots, multichapter, etc.), fanmixes, gifsets, graphics, meme collections, fanvids, whatever your heart desires! Go wild!!!

Can I create/write not-safe-for-tunglr dot hell content?

Yes!!! All creators are encouraged to include triggers warnings, sub-genre specifications, ships, and other warnings in their posts. I will not discourage you from writing your 16k Kara-goes-evil fic, but please... Be Courteous and tag your fanworks appropriately so people can make an informed decision on what they're comfortable with viewing.

What does (X) prompt mean?

Each day has two prompts!! You can either pick a prompt OR you can combine prompts in different ways. Let your imagination take you where you want to go with each prompt!! If you want to explore both in the same fanwork, then be my guest!!

Mainstream Canon, Elsewords, and AU content is acceptable! Just make sure to stay within the comicsverse. Creativity is key! Have fun!!!

Can I crackship/multiship/harem/OT3/polyam the characters?

Absolutely!!! Just please remember that this is the Soupeyfam horror week, not the Lois-Has-A-Harem-of-Elseworlds-Supermen week. We love ships and things, but this week is about the Superfamily. The characters can have their lovers, but their personal romantic dalliances shouldn't overtake the Soupeyfam dynamics (unless you're pulling a Cersei and Jaime, lmao, if that's the case, go wild).

Does this have a tag?

During release week, use the general “superfam” tag to share your work with the wider Superfam fandom on tunglr. You can use whatever other tags you fancy. The best way to share, however, is to directly @ me so that I may reblog it.

TL;DR: Over three months until the fanweek!!! For all fanwork creators out there, now’s the time to start thinking about what prompts you want to utilize for your creations. There are no creative restrictions, but I do ask that you follow these posting tips:

All fanfiction should be under a read-more.  

Not-safe-for-tunglr fanwork should be LINKED to whatever landing site the content is being hosted on (Twitter, AO3, etc). This includes both fanfiction and fanart. I don’t want your blog getting flagged bc tunglr hates gay people.

Provide content warnings for all triggers, squicks, and sub-genres. Unfortunately, in my ten odd years away from DC Comics, the fandom's seen a resurgence in puritanical behavior and tons of censorship and self-censorship. Please list content warnings on your work but do not be discouraged in sharing your work. If a fancop gets on your ass, block them. Please block as MANY as you can. They're like pests, they're always gonna be there, but their influence can be diminished by staunch blocking and reporting.

You can participate as much as you want!! Maybe you only wanna create for one day? Cool! Maybe you’re an overachieving corporate clown insomniac like myself, and wanna create for every day of the week? Go for it!!! 

The most important thing is to have fun :)

Truth be told, this event is entirely selfish. I personally love to the horror genre, and would love to see the characters in the Superfamily get more canon content as seen through beloved horror tropes. Unfortunately, Status Quo often gets in the way, and the current fanworks are largely ambivalent to the Dreadful and Despairing. If you'd like to join me in creating deliciously dark fiction featuring our favorite DC clan, please do! I would love to read your 10k character study of Otho and Osul assimilating into human society after spending their formative years as slaves in Warworld.

We’re over three months away from release week, so take your time, look through the prompts, and get your creative juices flowing! I will be sending out reminders until the go-live date.

Update re: AO3 Collections

For those not aware, an update was announced in AO3's latest change log that will affect both fanwork creators and collection maintainers.

TL;DR The update makes it so that by default nobody can invite your works to a collection. However, you have the option to edit your account preferences to allow collection invitations again!

So:

a) if you have a blanket policy against ever letting your work be collected for any reason, and find email notifications annoying, go celebrate!

b) if there are any circumstances in which you might possibly want to allow your work to be added to a collection, go to your AO3 Preferences Page ASAP and check this box:

and c) Spread the word to your friends who use AO3 but probably don't look at change logs!

Our March 31 release added a new preference requiring users to opt-in if they'd like to allow collection moderators to invite their works to collections.

Previously, a collection moderator could invite any work on the Archive to their collection, which would send an email to the creator asking them to approve or reject the invitation. Work creators could also choose to bypass the invitation process and allow mods to add their works to collections without needing to approve individual invitations.

This system was prone to abuse, so we have now removed the "Automatically agree to your work being collected by others in the Archive" preference and replaced it with a way to opt into or out of having your works invited to collections.

By default, no one will be allowed to invite your work to their collection. If you'd like to change this, please go to your preferences page and choose "Allow others to invite my works to collections."

If you enable this preference, you'll receive an email for each new invitation, and your work won't be added to the collection unless you approve the invitation. You can always add your own work to collections or add the bookmark to your collection instead.

This change is good news for some, and bad news for others.

(Personally, as someone who utilizes collections to compile themed fics in ways that are not easily replicated by either bookmarks or tag searches, I'm quite disappointed… but I do recognize that there are valid reasons for the change.)

But regardless, it's something to be aware of.

This is a Nalu based event. Everything created for this exchange must focus on Natsu and Lucy, whether platonically or romantically.

For administration purposes, you must have a Tumblr account to participate and you must have DMs on so that the organisers can contact you. This simply makes contact and coordination easier.

NSFW fanworks or requests are not allowed as part of this event

If you find yourself unable to complete your gift or you wish to withdraw from the event, you must contact one of the organisers to ensure that your recipient receives a gift from someone else. Failure to do so will get you barred from any future allaboutnalu hosted gift exchanges.

If you change your url between sign up and the end of the gift exchange you must contact one of the organisers to ensure we can keep track of our participants.

Until you reveal your gift, please do not disclose who your gift recipient is in any public capacity (i.e. on social media or in any discord server with a public invite).

All gifts must be new. Dedicating a new chapter to an already existing fic does not count as a gift.

All gifts must be created to a standard that you would normally consider as “finished”.

Remember that this is an event that prioritises giving rather than receiving. While we will do our best to ensure everyone receives a high-quality gift that meets their standards, there is only so much we can do beyond ensuring that everyone gets a gift.

FAQ

I won’t be able to complete my gift/I need to withdraw/I have changed my url/I need to contact the organisers for any other reason. Who do I contact?

Because allaboutnalu is a group sideblog, we cannot send or receive dms. If you need to contact someone in charge of the event for any reason, please privately message @tokkias or @nalunalu. If possible, reach out to the mod that sent you your assignment.

I’ve been allocated to create a gift for someone I don’t like, can this be changed?

Allaboutnalu aims to be a neutral zone and we encourage you to create a gift for your initially assigned recipient. If for some reason you feel you cannot create a gift to a high-quality standard for your allocated recipient, reach out to one of the organisers and we will try to reallocate you.

Is dark/violent content allowed?

Yes, but within reason. If your recipient has specified that they do not want to receive this type of content, please be mindful of that. Please also be mindful of tagging any potentially triggering content in your gifts.

What do I do if I need to contact my gift recipient before the gift reveal dates?

If your recipient has anons on you can contact them that way. If they have anons off or you are otherwise uncomfortable contacting that way, you can DM one of the event organisers and we will reach out to your recipient on your behalf.

Can I give more than one gift?

One gift is the minimum. If you want to make more than one you are more than welcome. If you enjoy making gifts, we recommend you sign up as a pinch hitter.

Hi hi! I have a question and I apologise if it's impertinent but I really didn't have anyone else to ask. I'm new to ao3 and I'm still figuring out how it works. The problem is this- when I look up a character x reader, I'll see the tag included in many works that have oneshots but since it's a side character, more often than not the oneshot for the character hasn't been written and the tag has been there for months. Is it okay to do that or is it tagging something incorrectly? They say they'll write one eventually but they never do, y'know? To me it kind of feels like they're just trying to reach a wider audience but because of this I can't even filter tags and I have to manually search through the book to check if the character is included, especially when the chapters are titled only by numbers :')

Oh boy...

Wattpad refugees do tend to use AO3 "wrong", sometimes in ways that break the rules and sometimes just in ways I find annoying and against typical AO3 culture.

I'm assuming you are coming from Wattpad based on you calling a work or a fic a "book", which is a very, very Wattpad thing to do.

I'm assuming they are coming from Wattpad given the bad behavior you're describing and the fact that they're a x reader writer.

So, here's the thing, if you start writing a fic and there's any amount of the actual fic, even if it's pretty short and bad or in a weird format or whatever, it's still a valid fanwork. Most of the time, AO3 leaves it to the author to decide how to tag (aside from a very few things like death threats in the tags or failing to use the required archive warnings).

AO3 won't stop someone from tagging a future pairing that hasn't appeared yet.

But "books" of "oneshots" are such an obnoxious Wattpad thing. This is a completely stupid use of AO3 from the "Please send me prompts" part that is usually in there to the way that unrelated fics are smashed together.

It's not against the rules, but it's a crappy use of AO3 befitting of n00bs.

Sadly, old hands at AO3 also make shitty works that are unrelated stories mashed together. They're often a whole set of kinktober fics or something where the trope tags and the ship tags are accurate, but you can't tell which ones go with which ones without searching the whole fic.

We regularly complain about that on here.

A much better way to use AO3 is to make a series titled "My x Reader Oneshots" or "All of my kinktober fics" where each separate story is its own work with its own tags.

My assumption is that this person is using the inaccurate tag both to get more eyeballs on their existing work and because they probably take prompts for that ship or something. (I'm basing this on the kinds of things people say on their oneshot books on Wattpad. Maybe they don't actually take prompts since you haven't mentioned it.)

Some people just don't care that they're annoying others and messing up the tags, but I think some actually don't realize how AO3 filtering works and have no idea this behavior is a nuisance.

On a lot of sites, both Wattpad and algorithm-driven social media, unless a post/work is very popular, it disappears out of sight. Even an inaccurate tag doesn't do that much.

On AO3, one is getting a full list of everything with the tag, going back however far. It's a library catalogue for which you should use accurate data. But this writer is probably thinking of tags more as advertising and a way to get their name out there so readers can follow them pre-emptively. They mean to write the ship in the future, so it's not really inaccurate... (And, tbh, if it were a single work and the ship just hadn't appeared yet, I would agree with them even though those are frustrating too.)

But it's not actually against the rules.

HI! this is the vr-tv blog! second time im writing this since first time i wrote it tumblr just chucked the whole thing out the window. BUT THAT ASIDE welcome! :D

to clarify this isnt a narrative/interactive/arg blog but rather a dedicated blog for the vr-tv universe and just storing info, art, writings - whatever about it! yknow, for documentation's sake.

✦ THE BASICS ✦

(gonna keep this short and simple!)

TLDR: it's the 80's and a bunch of world-famous musicians across various genres have agreed to go on this experimental reality tv show hosted by a sentient AI named I. M. PEACEMOUTH. (he's up there waving & peeping over in the blog's icon!). the guy is formal and professional and a smooth talker, but clearly has shady intentions.

(to preface, this version of the 80's is way more technologically advanced than ours was, so in this timeline, around this time technical capacity for 3d virtual reality exists - albeit in a primitive form!)

the company that hosts this show is called CONGLOMOCORP and they're a massive enterprise with a big hold over a lot of markets but they've recently become pioneers in the field of music video production (think mtv type stuff).

they got the idea to make the 'ultimate music video', which is where we circle back to the musicians and the tv show thing.

you see, this 'ultimate music video' is actually a televised broadcast of a virtual reality simulation of this big, huge house thing that all the musicians live in for their time on the show - and the feed on it is always running (well, most of the time.)

in order to get on this show, all the musicians have had to go out to conglomocorp's studio and get put into a coma-like state; and from there, they were hooked up to these machines and their consciousnesses are the ones in the virtual reality. their avatars are shaped around the content of their souls, which is why a lot of the characters you'll see around here look kinda wacky and abstract!

conglomocorp sold the musicians on this idea by claiming that it was just going to be for 'about a year' and that their only intentions behind this project - named VR-TV - was that they just 'wanted to push the limits of technology to its fullest extent'. butttttt you know how it is with stories like this...

Dark Reflections is an all-Trek zine focusing on the Mirror Universe and other dark universes. We welcome the dark, the macabre, the unsavoury and the morally dubious.

FAQ

What counts as a mirror universe?

According to Fanlore, a mirror universe is any alternate universe which is a dark reflection (pun intended) of the original. Whether this is the mirror universe we see in the shows or in beta canon, or a completely new universe that is simply not as kind to our characters as the original is up to you. Keep in mind that this zine focuses on and embraces the more "evil" aspects of those universes.

What can I submit to the zine?

Writing (fic and poetry) and art (traditional or digital, including comics) can all be submitted. We don't accept manips, meta essays (essays written in-universe may be allowed), mood boards, or anything that can't be printed, such as vids and podfics. Fics must not exceed 25,000 words, though depending on quality and number of submissions we may choose more, shorter works over fewer, longer ones. There is no lower limit for writing. Art must be completed, which means no sketches. Traditional art should be scanned, 300p. Written files should be .docx or .pdf, and art files should be .png, .jpg or .tiff. Links to Google Docs are also accepted.

Is there anything I can't write about?

Despite this zine embracing and encouraging potentially controversial subject matters, there are a few things we won't accept. Generally speaking, though, unless you're writing nazi roleplay erotica (for example) we're not likely to reject your fic on subject matter alone.

What show/ship/characters does the zine focus on?

Ideally, all of them. We'd like for this to be an all-Trek zine. However, if we get an overwhelming majority of one series we may end up rejecting a single work from a different one, even if it normally would have gotten in, just to keep everything cohesive. Either way, we will not accept OC-centric works.

Can I submit a work that has been published somewhere else? e.g. AO3, another zine, ect.

No. We only accept new works.

Does my work need to be beta read before submission?

Preferably, yes. We will edit works which have been accepted and which require it. All works in the zine will match in editing style, though we'll try to keep the author's style intact.

If I submit multiple works, how many are likely to get in?

We would prefer to give as many creators an opportunity to participate as possible, but if there is room or your works are particularly fitting, we will include multiple.

Do I need experience to submit works?

No. We will gladly accept works from new creators.

Do I need to join the discord server to participate?

No. The server gives you easier access to the editor, granting quicker answers to any questions you may have, as well as general accountability and greater sense of community, but that is all.

How do you match fic and art?

Ideally, we will have some solid matches from the get-go. If necessary, we will ask submitters who have volunteered to pinch hit for fics with no art. Art with no matches will separate poems or end up on one of the covers.

Will there be merch?

Possibly.

After the zine is published, can I post my work to AO3/social media?

We reserve printing rights for six months after publication (the day printed zines will be shipped). After that, you may do with your work as you wish.

How much will the zine cost?

This depends on a number of factors. However, we will endeavour to keep the zine as cheap as possible. We cannot legally make money off of fanworks, nor do we wish to. A free pdf copy of the zine will be sent to everyone who has purchased a physical copy, and these digital copies will be available to purchase at a much discounted price.

Event: December Klaine Fanworks Challenge 2023, day 12: rail

Summary: Cooper gives Blaine a present and some advice.

Notes: This is part of my Mormon!Klaine universe. It takes place after Out of Eden, which I am still in the process of posting to AO3. It’s among the likely possibilities for their future. It’s sort of a continuation of Proposal, and it's rated mature only for dialog.

Right as Blaine pulled up to the departure terminal at the Phoenix airport, Cooper made a surprise announcement.

“I know you and Kurt were planning to stay with the family of a friend of some missionary you met in Germany when you go to Salt Lake City, but frankly, that's stupid. I mean, if you really want to meet them, you can have lunch. You two must be desperate for privacy after your crazy homecoming.” Cooper tapped something into his phone. “There. I sent you the reservations. Hotel’s right off Temple Square. Can you believe I was able to get you a honeymoon suite at this short notice? It's even got a view of the temple, since you two still seem to be into that kind of thing. If not, I guess you can always close the curtains.”

A notification buzzed on Blaine’s phone. It was an email from Cooper with all the info about the reservation. Even with it right there in front of his eyes, Blaine was having a hard time processing. "Honeymoon suite?”

“Yeah. It's my wedding present to you.”

Blaine's mouth went dry. This was supposed to be a secret. How many people knew? “Wedding... present?”

Cooper put his hand on Blaine’s shoulder. “Look, I know I shouldn't eavesdrop, and I didn't mean to, but if you don't want people to overhear you, then maybe you shouldn't be talking in the kitchen about whether or not Kurt needs to send home for his birth certificate.”

“It was four-thirty in the morning! Everyone was supposed to be asleep! When are you up at four-thirty in the morning?”

"What can I say? I'm unpredictable. Directors love that about me. But I knew you wouldn't, so I had to go back into my bedroom and hide and not get up until 6 a.m. just so you two wouldn't freak out.”

But Blaine was doing exactly that right now. “Does anyone else know? Does Mom know?”

Cooper shook his head. “If you're asking if I told anyone, no, I didn't. And I'm certain no one else knows, or someone would've called a family meeting about it. You're fine. Just be careful.”

“I'm trying. Our family is just so—”

"I wasn't talking about our family. Screw them. I was talking about when you’re in the honeymoon suite. There's a Jacuzzi, and I know how newlyweds are about Jacuzzis. To those who haven't tried it, spontaneous sex in a Jacuzzi sounds like the best thing ever, but it's really not. The water washes away almost every kind of lubrication, natural or man-made. But if you're that desperate to get railed in a Jacuzzi—or to do some railing, or exchange handjobs, or whatever, I don't want to make any assumptions—you need to get some silicone lube and practice applying it first. If a hole will be involved, maybe even put some in there before you get in the water. A little goes a long way. And not your mouth. Do not put silicone lube in your m—”

Blaine hid his face against the steering wheel. “Oh my gosh Cooper, why are you so—” A car horn blared behind them.

“Guess I should get going,” Cooper said casually, as if he hadn’t just been giving Blaine a graphic lecture on sexual safety in hot tubs. “We can't sit in the drop-off zone all day. Hug for your big brother?”

Blaine had half a mind to kick his brother out of the car without even looking at him. But the other half convinced him not to. Red-faced, he leaned over the console to hug his brother. “Thanks, Coop. Not for the unsolicited sex advice, but … you know.”

"Well, I've got a big trust fund from my first mom that our dad was thankfully never allowed to touch, and I've got to do so something good with it.”

"Not for that. I mean, yes, thanks for the hotel, but also…” Blaine trailed off. He wasn't crying, exactly, but he did have to sniffle.

“I know, bunso," Cooper said, rubbing Blaine’s back. "I know.”

FIRE EMBLEM FYI: Specifically for 3Houses/3Hopes because I need a separate one for this franchise specificially given how many crazy things I got due to being involved in this fanbase via my fanworks:

DO NOT try to convince me to like or tolerate Byleth/student ships, ESPECIALLY the ones with the lords (aka CIaude, Dimitri, EdeIgard). I already summarized why I don’t like FE3H Byleth ships with student chars here. While the spinoff game FEW3H has now removed that teacher/student problematic situation, the fandom keeps putting the FE3H elements into the FEW3H fanworks (i.e. remembering Byleth from “another life” trope)...so no thanks!! DO NOT SHOW ME IT!!!

As for the Byleth ships with faculty members, my response is here so don’t try to bait me about that topic either thanks.

I do not care whom you ingame S-support. 3Houses limits the dating-sim part of the game to that character, so I cannot care less about how you play the game. The main issue I have is when people treat Byleth the “character” as a legit ship material when I personally think they are a cool character ruined by fans who are too obsessed with badly executed self insert otome tropes bc they self-project super hard onto them. Just to be clear, any FE3H or FEW3H OC/Canon >>>>>>Byleth ships personally. Even Byleth-sonas that remove the teacher/student aspects are better than canon FE3H!Byleth

Please don't drag FE VA statements as some sort of “gotcha” on my opinions like this post here. IDC what other people prefer with ship shit, that’s their problem and not mine. I am not gonna bother them about it. So don’t bother ME about it.

While this is an ask blog at times, the ask box will not always be open. When the ask box is closed, do not find creative ways to ask questions (reblogs, replies, etc.). Any questions sent while the box is closed will be ignored.

This blog is PG-13. While swears are okay (in moderation), there will be no sexual or graphic content on this blog. Our protagonists are children, so please refrain from sending them inappropriate questions.

Clover uses They/Them pronouns exclusively while Robin uses She/They pronouns. Please only use these pronouns on the respective characters. Your question may be ignored otherwise. (This is a very easy thing to keep in mind before typing an ask.)

Any asks involving bigotry will be entirely ignored and deleted. This includes Racism, Queerphobia, Ableism, Xenophobia, etc. This isn’t a place for that kind of behavior and you will simply be blocked.

Keep the questions related to the official characters of the blog, the Undertale franchise, and the fangame, Undertale Yellow. It makes answering your questions easier when they’re connected to the story. There will be no focus on AUs outside of the AU of the blog itself to avoid complication of plot and confusion.

This isn’t a roleplay blog. Please do not send messages in hopes of a roleplay conversation outside of your asked questions. This blog is focused entirely on Clover, Robin, and any characters that will make an official appearance.

A. If the ask box is closed, we are not accepting more questions at that time. Please be patient and wait for when the ask box is reopened.

Q. My question wasn’t answered with the last batch of questions. Why?

A. There’s a number of reasons why this might have happened. Perhaps your question was one already answered in the past? Or maybe there was no good way to reply to your message? Either way, the moderator is doing their best to answer as many questions as they can muster. If your question isn’t answered, it isn’t the end of the world. Try asking something new and different next time!

Q. I don’t personally agree with this headcanon/theory you’re working with.

A. That’s sad to hear! Well, we’re all entitled to our opinions. Please don’t go out of your way to tell the mod this? It won’t change the blog in any way and will be ignored.

Q. Can I repost your art to other social media sites?

A. Absolutely not! This blog is the only place you will be seeing answers and comics related to the blog! If you see someone on another social media platform reposting art from this blog, it most likely isn’t the blog moderator, RheaKira.
