How he wanted to shelter this man, to love him, to show him he was not unwanted, he was not a misfit. River wanted to give him happiness, wanted to give him reasons to glow green, to glow pink, to just find a meaning. He wanted to give him a home, a family, a place of his own. And the fact Lucas came seeking him meant so much to him.
River cupped Lucas face and before he even knew what he was doing, he kissed the young man, gently, and then pressed his head against his forehead.
River: You are not unwanted! You will never be unwanted to me! This is your home, so we'll always have a place for you here!
Lucas stared at River for a while, finding himself kissed was not something he had expected. Blinking a couple of times, as the glow around him flickered between blue and pink enough to make it look more like a purple in its own way. Looking at River, tears streaming down his cheeks, there was a small smile on his face. To hear River say he was home, was just what he needed right now. He could feel his body shake, he was more tired than he would like to be, but he was here, he was home, and he would happily work all day because as they said, this was home.
Lucas: Home.. home feels good. -he leant against River- I wish I could say I was ready to work.. but that would only be if I could sleep while working. Maybe I can be a cat bed?
He sighed, tired, anxious and worn out was only a little of how he felt. But he was still happy he had done it, stood up to them, and in a way, found control of his life.. maybe.
River gently brushed the tears from his cheek and wrapped his arms around him, kissing the top of his head. Now that he was here, he'd never let him go again, he'd never let anyone hurt him, if it depended on him. Lucas was bright and talented, Lucas was sunlight and deserved so much more than what he got and he'd do all in his power to aid him.
River: You can be a cat bed and rest all day...
He brushed his cheek again and looked down into his eyes lovingly.
River: I can't leave the clinic unattended today, I have a few surgeries scheduled for today, but you can rest in the staff room and take some cats with you to cuddle with. After I'm done, I'll come get you and we can go home so you can properly rest.
Also so they could escape the wave of fans and paparazzi he was sure to come around the place today. Even if his ward was still up, he couldn't keep it active all day. He let River lead him into the shelter, it was still quiet like it usually was at this time. Much like River said, he spent his day in the staff room, the rest of the staff just changing cats that were there with him, River bringing him coffee for their lunch along with a sandwich he mostly looked at. He could hear them, people asking for him, wanting to know, but the cats helped keep him calm along with the fact that he trusted River and the others to keep him safe.
When the workday was over, and the shelter emptied off fans and others, River came to get him and took him home, Vy making him eat something, before River took him to his room and let him fall asleep using him as a bed, like so many times before.

Behind the Curtains: An Announcement
So, something that we've been sitting on the fence about for a while, is whether or not to pull back all the curtains on how this blog is run. It's been a source of a lot of stress lately due to not knowing how well it'd be taken or if that kind of change would even be worth it in the first place, but I don't quite think we can continue to keep sidestepping it any longer.
Basically, for starters, our pin has included for a while at the bottom a blurb about this blog being "Run by the Prisms Collective, a plural system with a considerable number of Fate introjects." There's a handy link included too, being morethanone, that gives a good summary explanation of it as well. The TL;DR of it though, is we got more than one person sharing the same brain, called a plural system, that contains a bunch of headmates.
It hasn't come up much since most times it can just be left ambiguous, but basically, the host of this system is me Az, and everyone else either doesn't front often enough individually to make a noteworthy appearance, or, well...
There's not much elaboration on what an introject is, either in the pinned or the link, and to put simply: An introject is (typically) the result of a brain shortcutting the whole "make a new headmate" process by taking a template framework and copy/pasting the actual details from somewhere else. Those details can come from just about anywhere. Including fictional media.
That is to say, all the Servants you see here on this blog? The reason we've been able to write them so realistically, is because, well, they are real in a sense. A copy/pasted, canon-divergent, stuck-in-a-human-body type of real, but still real people nonetheless, who are capable of growth, development, self-awareness, the whole deal.
That's why the cast size is so small, why the plot doesn't exist, why a lot of details don't line up with canon, why so much development happens off-screen, why Servants sometimes refer to their 'canon-selves,' why some posts ambiguously continue the dialogue into the comic description, why sometimes we comment on or reblog jokes about knowing these people in real life... It's the driving force behind just about everything on this blog, really.
While we haven't made too much of an attempt to hide this per se, we've been really hesitant about being explicitly open about it, because we know it changes a lot about how people see us, and not always for the better. We'd be lying if we said we didn't enjoy all the enthusiastic attention we get sometimes that are only really possible when people aren't so worried about stepping on any toes. But, even with steel-toed boots, we'd be lying too if we said it wasn't a bit exhausting keeping everything under wraps all the time.
So, no need to apologize for anything, or tread lightly, or whatever. We didn't become an ask blog for everyone to be too afraid to ask anything, after all. We just, want to be more open going forward, to the point where even risking the relationships we have now is worth it if it means we can be seen for who we actually are, instead.
Keep sending in all the asks you want, we still love answering and chatting with you all. Just know you're talking to exactly who you see here, not a simulated response.

does anyone have like an anti aesthetic. like something you look at and can recognize as a complete fashion/interior design/artistic movement and understand it but it makes you shudder seeing it. i am not talking like “its morally bad” “its poorly structured” like just sheerly devoid of joy for you actually invites a repulse response.

listen. listen to me so carefully right now. (if you're in the eclipse path/planning on viewing). please don't stare directly at the sun tomorrow. i am begging you - do not stare at it. if you got eclipse glasses off of amazon/other, please put them on in your house and make sure you can't see anything; if you can still see like regular sun glasses, they are not safe for eclipse viewing, you will burn your retinas, and we cannot fix that. eclipse glasses should be iso/ce certified, and aas (american astronomical society) approved. please make smart choices and protect your eyes. please.

I rlly like the emphasis that live action one piece is putting on the fact that literally nobody else think about piracy the way luffy does. "Being a pirate is about being free and having friends :3" while every other pirate is doing legitimate career criminal shit around him.

I saw this on FB today and I wanna try and express something about it. Like, you know the curbcutter effect? Where when curbcuts are put in it benefits everyone (bicyclists, people with baby strollers etc) and not just disabled people?
There is also whatever the opposite of the curbcutter effect is. And this is that.
This isn't just anti-adhd/autism propaganda... this is anti-child propaganda.
Kids have developmentally appropriate ways that they need to move their bodies and express themselves and sitting perfectly still staring straight ahead is not natural or good for ANY CHILD.
Don't get me wrong, I was punished unduly as a kid for being neurodivergent (and other types of kid will ALSO be punished unduly for it... Black kids come to mind) and thus UNABLE to perform this -- but even the kids who ARE able to perform this type of behavior are not SERVED WELL by it. They don't benefit from it.
This is bad for everyone.
The idea that bc some kids may be capable of complying with unfair expectations, those expectations don't hurt them... is a dangerous idea. Compliance isn't thriving. Expectation of compliance isn't fair treatment.

A released captive Amani Hashem embraces her son Adam and returns to her family after spending 7 years in occupation prison. She shared her experience in the interview.
What stuck with me is when she said: "On the rare occasions the occupation would allow family visits, they would let me see both of my kids but only hug one of them. My kids were so young they didn't understand. I'd hear the younger one saying: "Why didn't mom hug me too? Does she not love me?" That's when I realized the limitless of the occupation's evil. They stripped me from seeing my children grow up, I'm getting to know them from the beginning now."
