What’s like, the norwegian lundehund of chicken breeds? Just a chicken breed that’s been specialized for some unique or interesting traits that aren’t really common elsewhere?
Buckeyes were accidentally selected for an extremely high prey drive and are known as some of the best mousers out of all chicken breeds. They are also the only "officially" recognized chicken breed to be developed by a woman in the US.
The reason i say accidentally is because their breeder orginally didnt know jack shit about chickens but knew she wanted to create her own breed but also didnt realize she needed to actually feed her damn birds so her first couple of generations of birds only survived by free ranging and eating what they could catch, the ones that didnt starved to death so only the birds best at fending for themselves survived. As she became a better chicken owner her birds still retained that extreme prey drive.
You will only find that prey drive in birds from breeders, not hatcherys.
Despite their danger to small animals Buckeyes are known for being friendly and docile to people but some hatchery lines have rampant aggression issues.
Buckeyes will also fiercely defend their flock some wont back down from large birds of prey or foxes. This means they can be extremely aggressive to pet dogs and cats.

animorphs!avery (any end/au) and hunt?
hunt: Who or what is your OC hunted by? A person, a feeling, a past mistake? Is your OC able to let their guard down, or are they constantly alert?
Avery Animorphs my little written beloved.
She tracks him down when he's 23, newly graduated with an accelerated master's in polisci and working with his best friend to jump through the legal loopholes necessary to establish a queer youth shelter.
She looks a lot like his best friend's mom. A little bit younger, maybe, but her face is lined and her hair is starting to go grey.
Good news, she tells him. You've been hired as an associate professor in your hometown's university.
He doesn't want to go.
He ends up there anyways.
