this could rlly be SUCH a stretch BUT why do i feel like there may be some collab between namjoon and taehyung…the other day he posted a song that had an album title called V and the song cover had a V on it. obviously in bts land all Vs r associated to taehyung. that wasn’t enough to make me rlly think tho but then today he posted another song called Capricorn and taehyung is a capricorn 👀. also evidently he posted this story briefly but then deleted it and on the low it looks like taehyung to me. ppl r saying it’s namjoon but it looks more like taehyung to me. could be neither as well and again this could be me rlly reaching but idk

I briefly took a break from the community in the second quarter of 2022 (I think I hit 1000 followers that time) as I needed to focus on myself and sort all my things out. I barely opened tumblr. I did sometimes but I wouldn't post anything. The break I took in 2022 was really good and I enjoyed it very much. I was silently active in the bts community. Just because I didn't post anything, doesn't mean I didn't know what was going on 🤣. Well last year was a roller-coaster for the bts armys and my personal life as well. So much happened lol!

I will post regularly now. Yes anon, more jikook moments posts are coming. Actually I'm in the midst of editing one moment ask so that will be out really soon!

I tend to post content which will able to produce a positive impact without any harm or malice in any possible way. I hope whatever I posted throughout the years managed to carve a smile on your lips 🥰💜

I would like to continue my Asian culture segment too! Its really fun to explain regarding our culture and what similarities Korean culture has with SEA culture! Be it food or traditions or sports, we are united! 💗

I vividly remember opening my tumblr app during the day for a few hours to respond to yall and complete my drafts in 2021 😭. I have actually seen a few misconceptions about me in a few asks that I received recently. FYI (to all my new followers) I have been here since 2021 and I'm a jikook and BTS based blog. I post both jikook and bts related content. Just because I'm more leaned towards jikook in this blog, doesn't mean I can't post bts content.. I am a 0T7! I love bts with my whole heart and I will post regularly about bts members. Be it group posts, dynamic posts or bts solo career posts. All 7 of them are precious.

This fandom needs to stop with the melodramas and pretending like every artist that will or HAS worked with BTS in the past is a good person just because they throw a bit of praise here and there and then CRYING when its revealed the artist did it all for clout.

'Cause I can assure you that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM has used BTS at some point or another.

Some used them to stay relevant when not even their own fans were supporting them anymore.

(the same way Salsa artists did when they began collabing with Reguetton artists to create "a new genre" that helped to keep both afloat at the time)

Some used them to score their first or second #1 on the BB charts. A grammy nomination even.

While others used them to divert the GP's attention from continuously bringing up their problematic past.

Some were simply better at hiding it than others.

I think J*son Derulo was the only asshole with cojones enough to laugh in the fandom's face after getting what he wanted out of "Savage Love Remix" and then pretending like he didn't know them.

(And to some extent Ch*lie P*th did the same, but more subtle)

In then end its always gonna be a Parasitic Relationship within the music industry. You choose who you want to support and stick to it through thick and thin. *shrug*

I want to scream about this album because I saw it 20 minutes after the announcement but was at work so now 10 hours later. When you get an app that gives you free pictures so you upload all your old tumblr profile pics for the company to print & I’m sure the employee handling these wanted to quit their job or d!e on the spot or pass the project to someone else or at least was wondering what kind of weirdo would request something like these. Unless they were a weirdo too. Maybe they snuck one and kept one because I counted them and I do have one less picture than I initially ordered.

I’m that weirdo and proud. Also most of these are gifts for very weirdo friends that live across the sea. (Actually we’re super undercover about it if you saw us IRL you’d never guess we make stuff like this). Like i literally go to church and Jesus is my lord and savior. I am admiring God’s creation of yoongi’s baby face. I thank God for him everyday and make ppl happy by making these. Brain chemistry must be a bit off or something idk but I should get a brain scan maybe. If you wanna roast me go ahead this acc is dead and idc about anything anymore except being in my Ebeneezer Scrooge era which means don’t talk to me under any circumstances because I’m busy making coin. I’m glad that anon brought up what you said a year ago and how it was pretty much spot on Namjoon’s sentiments at the festa dinner. I remembered you too and the shit show that ensued when you made your post. Because you had a bigger account at the time, many people saw what you wrote and so many asks were sent around to different blogs pretty much condemning you. Now many of the same blogs who assured everyone that BTS were still the same last year are now saying how they’ve actually felt the same deep down but didn’t want to verbalize it. I mean I’m not blaming anyone because not everyone could sense the change as early as you did but it’s just interesting to see how the public opinion on BTS’ music identity has changed over the last year. I can imagine that the harassment you faced was swift and unforgiving. I saw the asks sent to blogs accusing them of secretly being you and others throwing subliminal shade by referencing your ‘controversial’ post. Kudos to you for still continuing to blog after all that backlash. I guess the lesson learned is that everyone’s opinions are valid (as long as it’s not unreasonable hatred/disrespect) whether it’s a positive or negative take. Do you have any thoughts on how the boys solo careers and their relationship with their company will play out?

I appreciate you saying that, Anon. : ) It's not worth blaming anyone. What I would hope is that maybe some people will listen to others next time they present an opposing opinion and dialogue with them directly versus gossiping on other blogs. When we listen to each other, we get a whole lot further. You said it perfectly—everyone's opinion is valid. Just because we don't particularly like it, doesn't mean that person should become a target for horrible behaviour. I got off light, despite how horrible it was; other accounts I've talked to who went through the same thing on Tumblr & Twitter had their lives and the lives' of their loved ones threatened. Is it really that deep? We're talking about art here. Violent death threats, really?

I hope (probably in vain) that some of the army how joined the bandwagon to harass and degrade me and other people might reflect now that they know we weren't wrong. Idk ...

In terms of their solo careers, I'm really unsure what we will see because Hybe isn't exactly a consistent purveyor of the finest Kpop offerings. Consistent is the key word there. BTS have had these moments of brilliance (some MAMA/MMA performances, MOTS ON:E, LY:SY tour) but there isn't a consistency there. We also have Hybe saying on multiple occasions that they don't do "solo". So what will this look like? Hybe is still inexperienced and lacking in areas (styling, some of their music production/mastering, MV production—don't get me started on the weird CGI backgrounds).

So, I am hoping the solo work will be a sliver of what Kim Kibum (SHINee Key) has fought for at SM. He goes in with a PowerPoint presentation and lays out his ideas for his concept, including styling and other references. And then he takes part in all the production stages, including giving notes on the recordings themselves for the music producer. Kpop as a genre has been likened to Broadway; execution of concept, including styling, editorial photography, the physical production and the performance are all important, second only to the music itself. Some would probably consider all parts equal.

BTS' solos will display what their relationship is with the company and where they are in their artistic journey. The most important thing, I think, is to remember that a solo debut is a beginning. It's starting from scratch. Even though members have solo works in the BTS discography, they don't have experience of going solo. Readers should watch Taemin's debut solo stages. If you look carefully, you can see him trembling. And this was a person who never even wanted to debut in a group! ;D

Thoughts on Festa 2022, the aftermath, and the yet to come of it all…

So Festa was something, wasn't it? Though, I don't think the guys expected the outcome that occurred...

The Dinner…

Their annual dinner turned into an emotional affair (as well as some fun momments), particularly when the conversation turned serious and then the 'bombshell' that PROOF would have come out sooner, after the planned massive world tour of MOTS and prior to some solo work and possibly envitable military enlistment.

But the pandemic threw a massive spanner in their plans and then came Dynamite (followed by Butter and PTD). RM and the boys felt discombobulated about the whole process, and whilst BE and Life Goes On were brief respites, they felt as a team that they had lost their way a little, RM felt like a translator and both him and Suga creatively drain and sometimes unable to create new content.

So all this discussion about concentrating on their own individuality become more prominant and so a decision was made to stop group music activities and focus on each own members music.

This means old mixtapes will be made available on streaming platforms and new mixtapes will become proper albums that can be purchased.

But an alleged 'mistranslation' meant the message was misconstrued.

Hiatus vs Off-Period vs Temporary Break…

So the translation on the original version English version tells us Suga said Hiatus, but the Korean to English translation is actually closer to the term off-period.

Now I hate to break to people but the actual definition of Hiatus is:

a pause or break in continuity in a sequence or activity. e.g. "there was a brief hiatus in the war with France"

So the translation is actually quite appropriate.

Except for the fact that the term Hiatus in western entertainment media has a very specific connotation, i.e. every group that has gone on an official hiatus has never returned to group activities. However, I'd like to point out that most of the group who go on hiatus often have lost members, prior to this: Spice Girls lost Geri; One Direction had lost Zayn; Little Mix lost Jesy. Whilst other groups had pressure from certain members to go solo. And in a some cases, the members didn't quite get along. However, BTS still have all the members, and from Festa and other content it's clearly all dearly love and respect each other.

In K-Pop, groups go one hiatus all the time, mostly for enlistment reasons, but also for solo projects to occur. Now, with what we know now, it's clear that after the world tour the members would have all done solo projects like acting / albums / collabs etc. but they pushed these back for more of a focus on the western markets (i.e USA and the Hot 100).

The boys have promised to come back together to make music. This feels almost like how GOT7, though the circumstances were very different. When they left JYPE they promised to return and that they weren't disbanded, and they did, but in the meantime they focused on solo work.

But was it a mistranslation?

Now, this is where the cynic in me comes forward.

In the back of my mind, I have a niggling feeling that HYBE deliberately used the word 'hiatus' in English translations, knowing what could happen. And what did happen?

Well first it sent the media into overdrive, forcing a statement to be issued and a VLive from JK and a letter from RM.

An other effect of this one word was this:

On 15th June (the day after the broadcast) stock markets opened and HYBE lost nearly 30% market value, but also YG, SM and JYPE all took similar but smaller hits to their stock price too, and whilst HYBE's price has levelled off, some have have continued to decline (mostly YG/YG+ who has business links with HYBE and JYPE who have had previous connections to them too).

But... Why would a company self-inflict this harm to themselves? They wouldn't because to them the word hiatus isn't scary. So to me it's all just a coincidence.

It was clearly a shock to everyone because according to industry insiders they believed that they believed there would be a World Tour at some point:

"It's true that the world tour, which was initially expected to take place in the latter half of the year, is up in the air now," said Kim Hyun-yong, an analyst at Hyundai Motor Securities.

The elephant in the room...

So about Military Enlistment...

So obviously not long after there was some talk about military enlistment and the proposed exemption. There is a rumour that HYBE are gonna release a video from BTS about military enlistment plans.

Then mysteriously an alleged Stock Company Report leaked online that proposed a plan for enlistment starting this year with a return to group activities in 2025 (just in time for Festa 2025):

Translation:

This isn't the first time a report like this had leaked online, in the past few months a similar report predicted PROOF album and other HYBE group activities.

So whilst, I take this with a pinch of salt, it's very plausible. If this is the plan, between October 2023 and April 2024 (6 months) we will have all members enlisted. Although, I think it might be longer because I doubt Jin and Suga (both who had major surgery recently), will enlist in the Army and will likely be eligible for social services, which requires 2 years enlistment.

A two-year gap wouldn't be problematic because this isn't unusual for western artists, and in actually, BTS have already started to follow this model already, between BE and Proof is 19 months (the length of enlistment in the Army). Also, in the meantime, we're getting solo and maybe unit work.

But what about Military exemption?

Well, it appears the bill regarding BTS's exemption has stalled slightly, predominantly because of local and by-elections (the current administration relies on certain group of voters who aren't particularly in favour of exemption i.e. young men who helped sweep them to power in the presidential election) that were happening early this month and the current assembly session is nearing its end. But this articles suggests that the National Assembly were embarrassed and shocked by the announcement of the break:

But it seems ever more likely that exemption may not happen now or if it does will be very last minute, similar to the extension bill that was finalised the month that Jin was due to enlist last time.

The difference, then it seems, was most of the talk both behind the scenes and in the press was very favourable. However, with the exemption talk this time it's very mixed and key parts of the press and government / military have pushed back a little.

So HYBE have to take pre-emptive action to plan ahead and give its artists time, particularly if there isn't movement on the exemption.

So keeping this all in mind...

What could be Yet to Come?

Firstly, a JK / Charlie Puth Collab and J Hope's album / Lalapalossa performance within a month of each other. It was reported that this would be followed by Suga then JK's albums. We're also getting In the Soop with the WOOGA boys.

RUN BTS will also return, and I have a feeling that they've been film them for a while already.

If military exemption occurs, I expect solo work for about a year to 18 months before a return with an album, a tour could occur in the meantime.

If not exemption, then I think something a staggered enlistment will happen we can expect the following to happen too:

Tae and Jin to do some acting before the group comeback

Everyone except Jin to release music before enlistment, Jin upon his return.

I could see them doing a Bon Voyage or In the Soop before the enlistment begins.

I expect JK and Tae to enlist around the same time (maybe within a month of each other.

Solo promo tours and gigs at festivals

Appearances on Korean TV variety shows

I could seem BTS performing as part of a HYBE New Year's Eve concert, both as a group and solo artists.

To attend awards ceremonies but maybe not perform as a group.

I could see some subunit work happening

And the members fully supporting each other throughout.
