En faisant rouler mes deux pieds, je vous fais face, vous que je ne peux pas voir. Comme toujours, je suis accueilli par quelques centimètres de tremblement. Je veux garder la basse à un bas niveau. Mon esprit est déjà en mode week-end. Je ne vois pas de voitures ouvertes, ni de bars ouverts.

Ce n'est pas trop mal, complètement seul sur cette route. Des cœurs de personnes qui flottent comme des îles. Une nuit qui semble ne pas vouloir venir. Nous marchons le long de l'horizon, en roulant, vers le point de fuite que nous avons fixé.

Quand nous sommes tristes, faisons du vélo. Laissons le vent souffler sous nos deux pieds. Oh, faisons du vélo, avec nos deux bras écartés librement.

Parfois, laissons les choses rouler toutes seules, comme les roues d'un vélo. Il y a quelque chose que je dois trouver, comme un goûter. J'ai l'impression d'avoir vécu pour ce petit moment. Sur les deux roues, tout n'est qu'une banale rêverie. Sentir le toit, sentir la vérité. Le miracle n'est pas loin.

Quel que soit le visage que je fais maintenant, ça n'a pas d'importance pour l'instant. Les choses qui sont vraiment précieuses ne doivent pas être vues avec des yeux. Je soulève mes pieds du sol. J'écarte mes bras comme cet oiseau. Je décide de rester à flot comme une île. Je danse au rythme du vent. Oui, c'est normal de pleurer.

C'est normal d'être triste quand on est heureux. Quand on est triste, faisons du vélo. Laissons le vent souffler sous nos deux pieds. Oh, faisons du vélo, avec nos deux bras étendus librement.

i've been going over tfx s1 and s2 with a fine tooth comb and going by how the episodes are written vs the time stamps or the air dates and imo it makes the most sense for the pilot to have taken place in ~March of 1993, and then a bit of a gap to Deep Throat 1.02, allowing for a couple unseen cases getting used to each other but not so much that Mulder doesn't ditch her-- and of course Scully's taking that security guy hostage so readily is still quite a statement about a partner she's had for a month. Then a longer gap to Squeeze 1.03, like ~late May/early June '93, to give the rumour mill to whip up the 'Mr. and Mrs. Spooky image, with Conduit-Jersey Devil-Shadows-Ghost in the Machine taking place through the summer to September-ish of '93 and Ice being like mid October.

I also assume that Fallen Angel is right after thanksgiving because despite the noted dates, it makes the most sense for Mulder to have slipped away during the holiday weekend, only to need bailing out. Scully probably got the call while staying at her mom's while frying stuffing-n-egg breakfast fritters 😂.

Though there's a problem with that headcanon, because Mulder broke is leg and he isn't even limping in Eve, and obviously Beyond The Sea has to take place last week of Dec '93 and the very beginning of '94, which logically is when Mulder when Mulder would be getting his cast off if he was injured just after Thanksgiving 🙃. Still, the airdates ~basically line up on Space thru Beyond the Sea, but again there must have been a bigger than airing gap between BtS and Gender Bender to account for Mulder's gunshot wound and for Scully to find more equilibrium.

This timeline makes EBE line up with round about the anniversary of their first case, which seems fitting and interesting. A year after Billy Miles in the woods and they're still chasing phantoms.

If you account for extra recovery time around Darkness Falls, that also puts Tooms almost a year out from Squeeze, which makes sense with the plot of the parole board seeing his case already. Then they get split up some time in June '94 and end up working apart through summer with Scully's abduction taking place at the beginning of September and her return in November. 8 to 10 or weeks seems like a workable compromise between how much hope they characters around her had all given up in her absence and how much plot they tried to fit in around her abduction in the same season. The canonical 'four weeks' number simply doesn't cut it, but the oft stated '3 months' and '4 months' i've seen used in fandom, while feeling weighty enough, also runs into logistical problems.

also, ugh, if I pad in the recovery time for Scully to get back on her feet after her return, that means Firewalker takes place at the end of November or beginning of December, that means she would spend her first Christmas in quarantine in 1994. Which does sound like something that would happen to Scully! She might get home in time for New Years?? But if you go by the airdates she misses Thanksgiving, so either way it's a major american-christian family in a CDC facility in the Cascades. No wonder her family hates Mulder a bit 💀.

If you go with the Dec dates for Firewalker, it pushes the middle of S2 forwards a bit and makes it so that Mulder ended up trading the 'Samantha' hybrid clone for Scully around about 2nd anniversary of their first case together. Which is also. Something an half, I gotta say. Really, really interesting bags of subtext there, potentially! 👀

I'm not sure that I'm going to still be working on the fic this is for -- I'm supposed to on therapeutic advice on the grounds of desensitization to triggers (writing), but even so it'll be slow going. So I wanted share the version of the timeline I'd worked out that leaves a bit more breathing space for emotional development, and has a couple interesting anniversaries. In case anyone found it interesting or wanted to run with any of that, or also found the supposed 'canon' timeline claustrophobic and contradictory in terms of vibes vs stated dates.

JIMIN, acuto e sensibile, un uomo pieno d'amore

Fortunatamente abbiamo avuto l'opportunità di immortalare Jimin dei BTS, prima del suo servizio militare. Questo servizio fotografico e l'intervista annessa sono contenuti inediti, disponibili esclusivamente su Harper's Bazaar. Star K-Pop di fama globale, nonché ambassador per Tiffany & Co., vi presentiamo ora gli scatti fatti da Bazaar a Jimin dei BTS, un'icona del suo tempo.

Durante l'intervista, condotta da Aoko Matsuda, Jimin indossava gioielli firmati Tiffany, con l'eleganza e la naturalezza di spirito che lo contraddistinguono.

In quanto membro dei BTS, hai contribuito molto a portare cambiamenti positivi nel mondo, ma quali sono le tue speranze per il futuro – non solo per la società e cultura a te più immediate, ma per il mondo in generale? Questa è la domanda cui è collegata la suddetta risposta. “Spero che tuttə quantə possano sempre trovare e sperimentare anche solo un pizzico di gioia, nelle proprie esistenze.” Questo potrà sembrare un auspicio piuttosto semplice, ma non lo è, specialmente in una società come la nostra, con tutte le problematiche d'attualità cui stiamo assistendo.

Tuttavia, le/i sue/oi fan e coloro che lo seguono da tempo sapranno sicuramente che Jimin ha sempre fatto tutto il possibile affinché le persone a lui care potessero sperimentare anche solo un pizzico di gioia

Questo tipo di approccio traspare chiaramente anche dal suo album solista, “FACE”. Quando gli ho chiesto se avesse scoperto qualche nuova abilità o punto di forza, grazie alle sue attività individuali, la sua risposta – molto umile – è stata. “Era la prima volta che mi cimentavo in un progetto simile, ma grazie a questa prima esperienza, in futuro, vorrei mettermi ulteriormente alla prova e continuare a crescere.”

Personalmente, sono diversi anni che seguo Jimin e sono sua fan, ma ciò che non manca di sorprendermi ogni volta è che la sua non è solo modestia, è davvero convinto di ciò che dice.

Un giorno stavo guardando un'esibizione di ‘DNA’, e ho pensato sarebbe stato interessante scoprire di più sul suo conto. L'ho visto balzare in primo piano sul verso “fin dalla creazione dell'Universo~” e sono diventata sua fan. Proprio così. E mentre cercavo informazioni su Internet e guardavo quanti più video possibili, come sotto incantesimo, ho trovato una clip in cui Jimin, dopo un'esibizione, era seduto mogio mogio e turbato per un errore commesso sul palco, come ha confidato allo staff in sua compagnia. Questa scena risale ai MMA 2019, subito dopo una performance mozzafiato, estremamente poetica. Vedere che non solo è un essere umano ed un artista perfetto, ma anche una persona capace di mostrare le sue fragilità me l'ha fatto amare ancor di più. Jimin è sempre così umile, così umano e questa sua sincerità d'animo arricchisce anche le bellissime performance che ci presenta sul palco.

Durante le sue attività soliste, Jimin ha tenuto interviste individuali principalmente in inglese, ma è fluente anche in giapponese. Tra le/i fan, si è già fatto tanto parlare della premura con cui, quando posta sui social media, Jimin cerca sempre di scrivere in modo che il suo messaggio arrivi e sia facilmente comprensibile e trasponibile in quante più lingue possibile, quand'anche le/i fan usassero un traduttore automatico. Ero dunque curiosa di sapere come e quando avesse sviluppato questo tipo di approccio così attento ed intelligente rispetto alle parole e all'uso delle lingue, e la sua risposta è stata, “Sono davvero grato e felice le/i fan la pensino così. Ho ancora tante cose da migliorare, quindi credo siano fin troppo generosə e pazienti con me (ride).”

Essendo pienamente consapevole dell'amore che i BTS e lui stesso ricevono a livello globale, Jimin fa sempre del suo meglio per le/i fan – anche nelle piccole cose – e questo spirito traspare non solo dalle sue parole ma anche nei suoi gesti. Sicuramente le interazioni e risposte che riceve dalle/i fan sono tutte incommensurabili, ma ce n'è forse qualcuna che gli è rimasta particolarmente impressa?

“Sono grato per qualsiasi forma di feedback da parte loro, ma a volte le/i fan mi rispondono con una canzone. Quel tipo di risposta vale più di qualunque altro regalo.”

Nel suo album solista, “FACE”, ha trasposto in musica ciò che ha provato durante la pandemia e, a questo proposito, ha menzionato che lo stare a ‘poltrire’ senza ‘fare niente’ è sicuramente un modo per disfarsi dello stress.

“Credo il momento in cui mi trovo più a mio agio in assoluto sia quando sto sdraiato sul sofà, a casa, senza dover fare nulla. L'ideale sarebbe poter riposare per un po' – non troppo, ma neanche troppo poco, magari per tre giorni, tipo. Sì, credo tre giorni sarebbero perfetti (ride).”

Jimin, che non ha paura di mostrare la sua fragilità, sa anche esprimere magistralmente luci ed ombre dell'animo umano, nelle sue performance. Ma cosa pensa di questi due aspetti, quando sono parte di lui, e come vi si approccia?

“Sono convinto che ognunə di noi abbia un lato più radioso e felice ed uno più cupo e triste. Penso sia importante accogliere e sperimentare appieno la gioia, quando stiamo bene, ma accettare anche le difficoltà e ciò che comportano. Credo il mio consiglio ed approccio riguardo lo stress sia semplicemente accettare ed affrontare di petto ogni momento per quello che è.”

Per questo servizio fotografico, Jimin indossa gioielli firmati Tiffany. “Come sempre, sono molto soddisfatto di questi accessori, perché sono molto d'impatto pur nella loro semplicità.” Descrive i bijou come un 'cambiamento, qualcosa di diverso' per se stesso

“Quando indosso articoli di gioielleria, mi sento diverso. E questo vale specialmente quando ho riprese o servizi fotografici per riviste di moda. Quando porto gioielli diversi dal solito, provo anche sensazioni nuove, particolari.”

Osservare Jimin, il suo modo di porsi, il suo make-up ed il suo approccio alla vita – lui che accoglie e vive ogni momento per quello che è -, mi dà grandissima gioia e percepisco quel suo spirito libero. Quando gli ho chiesto se avesse un qualche segreto per fare suo quello stile, l'artista ha risposto:

“Non ho esattamente 'un segreto'. Semplicemente, sono grato per il senso di libertà che posso provare sul palco, quando mi esibisco, o durante un servizio fotografico – come quello di oggi, grazie a questi nuovi stili e concept.”

L'anno scorso, i BTS hanno festeggiato il loro 10° anniversario; “Non significa che cambieremo, solo perché ora abbiamo raggiunto questa tappa nella nostra carriera. Da parte mia, farò del mio meglio per mostrarvi sempre lati nuovi e migliori di me, pur continuando a concentrarmi su ciò che ho sempre fatto.”

In conclusione, ricollegandomi al suo brano solista ‘Promise’, gli ho chiesto quale promessa avrebbe voluto fare a se stesso.

“ <Cerca di non cambiare troppo, in futuro>, è questo ciò che vorrei dire a me stesso.”

E allora aspettiamo con trepidazione il giorno in cui potremo rincontrare questo infaticabile e propositivo Jimin, che è sempre pronto a dare il meglio di sé.

Harry is driving me wild in your fic and i say this with love. He's such an unreliable narrator! I'm only two chapters in but already feeling like i have to step up my close reading skills, lest i end up missing details that add important context and nuance to the story. What a good time I'm having.

Take this scene for example...

"I don't need you to tell me that you care about me."

"I don't," Harry said quickly. "I really don't."

He didn't, did he? He didn't want Malfoy to die, which is why he pulled him out of that fire. But that didn't mean Harry cared about him.

So we have this. Only for four paragraphs later, have harry be like this:

"How is, er, parole?" Harry wanted to kick himself. Why was he still asking Malfoy questions about his goddamn parole?

Malfoy didn't answer, and Harry imagined he was waging an internal battle between being a twat and...not being a twat.

"It's fine. All things considered," he finally said. Not a twat, then.

"What are 'all things'?" Harry asked, resigning himself to his own morbid curiosity where Malfoy was concerned.

😭💯!!

There has to be some sort of mathematical equation going on where harry is consistently and amusingly cancelling out what he says.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this! Do you have any bts to share when it comes to certain parallels you write? I almost missed what was going on and felt mad at myself because small things like this change how the fic works 💛. Definitely looking at things at lot more slowly.

Hi! Firstly, thank you so much for reading! Secondly, and perhaps more frustratingly (I do apologise) is that...I don't have any great answers. I have no insights, I've got nothing.

And here's why: my job was to write the story. Now it's out there, and it's the reader's job to read. And you are doing a great job at being a reader! I cannot effectively be a good reader for this story - my head is too clouded with wanting to edit it and wondering if anything makes sense, and also feeling very much like it has nothing to do with me, anymore. Like the story happened without me, almost. It's a weird feeling.

So, you are doing your job! You are reading the story, and I cannot express my endless gratitude for your time and effort. Reading is a tough job!

And if there is a lack of clarity around Harry's motivations, that is 100% on me but again...I have no actual clue, lol.

What I can and will say about watvm is this: I was thinking about what it's like to challenge your worldview, and how art can be a pathway for talking about the world when you don't have the words. My dad died in the middle of writing this, and it very much became about grief and loss as well. About being broken but trying to find a way forward. I hope those things come through for all readers but again...I have no answers.

Un giorno il mondo si è fermato. Inizia così il verso introduttivo della canzone “Life Goes On”, dei BTS, e lo ritroviamo nelle primissime scene della docu-serie BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star, legato al momento in cui il gruppo ha dovuto cancellare il suo ambizioso tour programmato per il 2020, a causa dell'inaspettata – e senza precedenti – pandemia di COVID-19. Poi torniamo indietro nel tempo, fino al 12 giugno 2013, e vediamo gli idol appena prima del loro showcase di debutto. Gli 8 episodi del documentario rappresentano una chiusura per il primo capitolo di questa band epocale, in tutta la sua gloria, ma non si limita ad elencare i loro successi. Roma non fu costruita in un giorno, ed i BTS non sono diventati superstar dall'oggi al domani.

Molti media occidentali hanno paragonato l'ascesa dei BTS nel panorama internazionale a quella dei Beatles e la conseguente 'invasione british'. Sebbene non ci sia dubbio i due gruppi abbiano elementi in comune—l'enorme successo commerciale in suolo americano ed essere diventati un enorme fenomeno mediatico— ciò che rende le loro storie realmente simili è il fatto che entrambe le band sono emerse dall'anonimato più totale e si sono fatte strada “a discapito del nostro benessere fisico”, per usare le parole di SUGA. Dopo aver raccolto un ristretto seguito iniziale esibendosi nella loro città natale, Liverpool, i Beatles si sono spostati nella città tedesca di Amburgo, nel 1960, dove hanno continuato ad esibirsi senza sosta, spesso anche per oltre 12 ore al giorno. La loro era una rigida e pesante routine cui non sarebbero mai riusciti a sopravvivere senza caffeina ed alcol—nonché un periodo in cui capire come poter vendere la propria musica ad un pubblico poco ricettivo. Nel 1961, i loro impegni non hanno fatto che intensificarsi, sempre divisi tra il Cavern Club di Liverpool e le loro esibizioni ad Amburgo – dove tenevano concerti di 7 o 8 ore, fino a notte fonda. Ancor oggi, nelle coscienze del pubblico globale, i Beatles sono cristallizzati come leggende, ma quella fama è il risultato dei massacranti sforzi fatti fin dai giorni in cui nessuno conosceva il loro nome.

Allo stesso modo, i BTS non sono comparsi dal nulla, un bel giorno, all'improvviso. La nuova docu-serie loro dedicata ci mostra l'addestramento serrato cui hanno dovuto sottoporsi dopo esser passati dallo status originario di gruppo hip-hop a quello di idol K-Pop, nel momento del loro debutto, a riprova di tutto il sangue, il sudore e le lacrime che hanno volontariamente sacrificato pur di avere successo nella loro carriera frenetica e costellata di crisi. Jimin ricorda di aver vissuto in sala prove per sei mesi, ma quello non era che l'inizio. Come ricorda RM, tutti e sette si sono spinti al limite in nome di un obiettivo comune ma solitario—il debutto— e, una volta raggiunto, hanno dovuto affrontare sfide ancor più grandi. In seguito ad enormi investimenti e ad un arduo processo compositivo, tutti quanti si aspettavano che “Danger” sarebbe diventata il successo che avrebbe potuto distinguerli dalla massa; tuttavia, il brano non è riuscito ad entrare in classifica e, anzi, ha lasciato l'agenzia in difficoltà economiche. L'eco di quest'esperienza ha gettato una fitta ombra di impazienza, fatica, preoccupazioni e sfinimento sul gruppo. La loro agenzia non è poi così grande e non hanno alcuna garanzia di successo per il futuro. Ai membri dei BTS non resta che affrontare la situazione di petto. I ragazzi avvertono istintivamente un senso d'urgenza che li spinge a mettersi all'opera, mostrando il lato più orgogliosamente onesto di sé attraverso il rap e le loro canzoni. “L'ansia giovanile era concretamente evidente”, osserva SUGA, e mai parole furono più vere. La creatività emerge in tutto il suo potenziale, quanto più coltivata attraverso l'impegno ed il duro lavoro. “Abbiamo sempre lavorato sodo”, dice Jin “sia che stessimo affrontando un periodo difficile o no.”

Monuments non insiste tanto sull'immenso successo dei BTS fine a se stesso, concentrandosi invece su come i membri abbiano sempre avuto lo sguardo fisso sui loro obiettivi a venire. E l'entusiasmo che accompagna il loro impegno sembra avvalorare l'impressione che il loro successo fosse, in fin dei conti, inevitabile. Il loro primissimo concerto alla Ax Hall, il 17 ottobre 2014; la loro prima vittoria ad uno show musicale, nel 2015; l'esibizione sul tanto agognato palco dell'Olympic Gymnastics Stadium, l'anno successivo; il titolo di Artista dell'Anno vinto agli Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) 2016; il loro ingresso nel mercato musicale americano, dopo aver battuto il testardo record detenuto per anni da Justin Bieber nella categoria Top Social Artist ai Billboard Music Awards, nel 2017; la posizione #1 sulla classifica Billboard Hot 100, ottenuta con “Dynamite”; la prima nomina ai Grammys come Best Pop Duo/Group Performance—inevitabilmente, il loro duro lavoro non poteva che portarli a tutto questo. E la maggior parte delle volte il gruppo ha deciso di imboccare il percorso più arduo e meno comune. La prospettiva di un tour globale – fino a quel momento inimmaginabile – ed il penetrante sguardo del mercato internazionale non possono che pesare sul gruppo ed avere conseguenze. In pieno esaurimento, i BTS lasciano parlare la loro musica, cantando “Per te sarei disposto a fingere d'essere felice quando sono triste” nel brano “Fake Love”, rilasciato nel 2018. I ragazzi stanno essenzialmente confessando al proprio pubblico che c'è una parte di finzione, che ciò che li riguarda non è tutta gioia, brillantezza e serenità, nonostante abbiano ora intrapreso la scalata alla fama globale.

Ci si presenteranno sempre nuove sfide, ma ad ogni ostacolo incontrato sulla via corrisponderà sempre una nuova, preziosissima opportunità di maturazione e crescita. Tutto ciò che dobbiamo fare è riservarci del tempo per riflettere e trovare il modo più adatto per superarle. E questo è esattamente ciò che hanno capito anche i BTS. Dopo essere sopravvissuti insieme ad una gavetta infernale e sofferenze innominabili, i membri dei BTS sono ora più che semplici colleghi di lavoro—sono amici e affrontano insieme tutti i momenti più entusiasmanti e preziosi delle loro vite. In questo viaggio all'insegna dell'amicizia, non passa istante in cui i ragazzi non condividano i propri sentimenti con gli altri. E le/gli ARMY, incrollabile fonte di supporto per il gruppo, sono loro vicinə e li amano incondizionatamente. Fin da quando, nel 2013, JungKook ha ringraziato tra le lacrime le/gli ARMY per aver festeggiato il suo ed i compleanni di RM e Jimin per la prima volta, le/i fan hanno continuato a motivare il gruppo, donando loro la forza di tirare avanti ed una ragione per cantare. Un altro momento chiave a dimostrazione di quanto sia importante il fandom è quando, durante il concerto tenutosi alla Gocheok Sky Dome il 12 novembre 2016, le/i fan cantano “2! 3!” - canzone dedicata dalla band all'ARMY - insieme ai BTS. Diversamente dalle 'fan song' scritte da altri gruppi, quelle dei BTS non sono necessariamente dolci ed ottimiste—tramite esse, i ragazzi cercano concretamente di creare un legame con le/i fan, parlando sinceramente di tutte le difficoltà che hanno dovuto affrontare. Come dice RM, i BTS piacciono “non perché cantiamo o balliamo meglio degli altri”, ma grazie ad “un sentimento speciale che è solo nostro”. Quindi, in fin dei conti, è l'onestà emotiva a trionfare. In un mondo in cui le preferenze ed i gusti in fatto di musica sono sempre più frammentari, i BTS hanno saputo emozionare e radunare un enorme massa di persone, a riprova dell'enorme impatto e forza che può avere una community così grande ed unita. E questa è la gioia più grande, per i BTS, che guardano con affetto e gratitudine alle/ai loro fan, ora che hanno imparato ad accettare e ad adattarsi al loro alto status, godendosi anche ciò che esso comporta.

I 10 anni di carriera dei BTS spiccano solidi come un monumento sulla linea temporale della musica K-Pop. Dopo soli 8 anni dal debutto, SUGA commentava che la sensazione era già simile a ciò che dovevano provare i loro colleghi con 20 e più anni di esperienza, visto tutto il sangue, il sudore e le lacrime versati dai BTS fino a quel momento. Ma poi, un giorno, proprio quando i ragazzi sono pronti a rilasciare “ON” e MAP OF THE SOUL: 7—lavori in cui descrivono la gioia e divertimento che sanno ancora trovare a dispetto delle avversità- il mondo si ferma. Ciononostante, ora, i BTS non hanno più paura. Si prendono il tempo necessario e fanno tutto ciò che è in loro potere, portando conforto al mondo grazie alla loro onestà e alla fiducia che hanno saputo conquistare.

Come dice orgogliosamente JungKook, “Ho vissuto un'esistenza adeguata alla persona che sono” e, allo stesso modo, i BTS hanno vissuto un'esistenza degna dei BTS. E continuano a viverla, questa 'vita da BTS'—sia ora che sono momentaneamente distanti, che in futuro, un giorno non troppo lontano, quando si riuniranno.
