This is kind of a crack thought, but I’d love it if Horikoshi made DFO canon
but in the most anticlimactic way possible.
Like, we don’t see it during Bakugou’s fight, we don’t see it during Midoriya’s fight (and Shigaraki’s memories), but instead it’s after everything is over.
Everybody’s healing and getting better, and then Izuku and Katsuki, bored out of their minds, just decide to watch the footage of all the fights.
Squished together on a hospital bed, they’re watching Bakugou’s footage first (cuz Kacchan sugoi) and then Izuku’s like “hmmm hold on why does AFO look familiar?”
and then when they’re done, they watch All Might’s footage and Izuku’s eyes bug out of his head and goes “HOLY SHIT WAIT THATS MY DAD”
And then Katsuki just goes “huh. no wonder the fucker wasn’t around.”
and they just. move on.

I just re-read Kacchan vs AFO fight up to the recent chapters and I just realized that there was actually snippets of how OFA was passed from one user to another. And I just saw that En was CUT IN HALF while passing OFA to Nana, AND he was still smiling😭😭
Tumblr media
And it finally clicked to me like "OH it's MAKES SENSE he was the first to suggest running away from Shigaraki when the going got tough, it MAKES SENSE he was the first to suggest to throw himself away because he had a 'useless' quirk"
Bro faced against AFO TWICE, the first time he lost his senpai and was burdened with a curse, the second time he was cut in half and still couldn't do anything but pass it to another person😭
So him being THE ONLY ONE to break through Shigaraki's mind barrier thing while rest of the vestiges (sans kudo who went ahead first) couldn't, gives me such a high.
En being the only vestige visibly giving it his all while the others stare in shock? Awe? Every other light bouncing back while his pierces through the darkness like a beacon of hope? That's so good to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't know which direction horikoshi will take his story but I hope this will be an opening to look into his memories and eventually the backstories of all other vestiges too.
TLDR; I am rooting for you En😭😭

So I think the main takeaway we all got from the last chapter, besides 'are they really doing the AFO gave Tenko decay thing,' is wondering what Eri's running off to do. Some think she'll be used to restore OFA and/or undo all Deku's damage to bring him back to full power. Others are thinking/worrying she'll be used to unsatisfyingly turn Tomura back into a 5 year old with no memory of killing his family so Deku can circumvent both Tomura's traumas & his criticisms towards hero society.
Tumblr media
But I don't really like either of those ideas (not even the healing Deku thing at this time, it'd undo too many of his sacrifices); so me personally, I think she's going to reintroduce the rooftop trio back into the plotline. I mean with the entire League besides Tomura dealt with, they're basically the only dangling plot-thread left in this arc besides the big final fight.
What she'd do I'm not entirely sure. I don't really like the idea of her reverting Kurogiri into his past self that's most convenient to the heroes anymore than her doing that to Tomura. I guess she could heal Aizawa's injuries to let him properly use his quirk again though, that could be cool.
Tumblr media
But I think the possibility that most appeals to me is, instead of introducing her for her quirk, instead uses her for an emotional beat for Aizawa. A big part of the Shirakumo plot (as I've interpreted it at least) has been Aizawa & Mic being too focused on their high school years with Shirakumo, enshrining that time to represent what they believe Kurogiri should be like. Mic at once point is even prepared to kill Kurogiri if he's not got enough Shirakumo in him so he can't taint Aizawa's memory of him.
So Eri coming in for an emotional moment with Aizawa, maybe to heal him or maybe just to ask he stay standing in that hero way, could disrupt that narrative; and for the better I think. Remind him that the past is one thing, but he's got responsibilities in the present, a kid he's taking care of.
Tumblr media
And if I am so lucky, that might just cause Kurogiri/Shirakumo to come to a similar realization. Aizawa & especially Mic might have some opinions on the arrangement, but the fact is that for the past 15-ish years, their friends has been looking after a kid who's currently in danger. And while catching up has been nice, saving Tomura Shigaraki from that danger probably takes precedence over some high school friends. Sad to say, they've all grown up to take on responsibilities in conflict with each other; and if there's any resolution to that, it's probably found in the present or looking forward, not staying stuck in the past.

It looks like the rewind Theory might be coming true
There are many variations of that theory, but yes.
Honestly, it is badly needed in the story if what Horikoshi is aiming for is an ending where the kids and the villains survive.
Introducing a character that can undone damage is always insurance for the author. You have to be careful to not overuse it to the point it loses its impact. If no one ever dies and everyone keeps on resurrecting, the predictability becomes boring.
The good thing is that bnha doesn't overuse Eri. They don't use it to rewind the damage done to the characters when they lose an extremity, for example. It didn't work on Nighteye. They didn't try to use it on All Might—and if they did, I can't remember when it happened.
The point is that I liked that Horikoshi left Eri's quirk to the end of the manga. That way he could make the characters give their 100% without it meaning sure death. It scares the readers, like it should, it creates tension. Knowing that Eri's quirk might not work is another good decision. Even if she shows up after the big showdown, the public doesn't know who is going to survive.
Now, when I say there are many variations...
I'm against the version of it where the villains are turned into kids. Where is the fun of it, uh?
It erases the complexity of each character and all they fought for. What was the point of fighting so much if you're gonna erase what happened? If there's no consequences, no accountability? Any story should grow from the risks of the actions taken. We want to know there's something to be lost, that's where the adrenaline comes from. That's the entertaining part!
The version that completely heals their wounds is also kinda... bland. I'm a fan of bnha because the story doesn't solve most disabilities with magic.
If a pro-hero loses a leg or an eye, they'd have to learn to fight with the cards they were dealt with. Like I said before, those wounds tell a story of the risks they took. Aizawa cut his leg to survive and see another day with Eri and his students. Mirko lost most of her limbs giving her absolute all!!!!
It's the same for villains. It moves you, the way those villains would sacrifice themselves for their goals. Compress' lost arm tells the story of how they lost Magne. Giran lost his fingers when he refused to sell the League, so their absence is the evidence of his loyalty.
I want irreversibility. I want permanece. I want to see the growth that comes with accepting what we do in our lives and how we have to keep going.
My favorite version is the one that heals enough for the person to survive, but not much more. It is not going to take you to step one, it can't erase all you did and all that was done to you.
A second chance, but you have to make it from where you were left. No shortcuts, no easy way out. Either you commit to it or you're over.
I don't want to see Touya without his burns. That is boring! I don't want squeaky clean Touya, all perfect and smooth skinned and whatever. That is not him. He's the boy who burned in the flames of his passion, right or wrong. He's the boy who is supposed to be dead, but survived because he was a stubborn bastard.
The story can lessen them, of course. At this point Touya is more scrap put together by metal than anything else. He cannot possibly survive like that, so he needs to be healed enough to live. The burns can even lessen with time, fading as Touya heals, but I want the memory to last. I don't care if he forgives Enji, I want him to be forced to look at the burns every day knowing how they're there.
Another example?
Tomura's scars tell a story. You cannot resurrect his family, so don't go erasing the scar in his eye or in his lip. Don't go erasing the evidence of his struggle.
To be fair, Tomura has changed a lot since his first appearance. I remember him with yellow teeth, all skinny to the bone. It shows that no one cared for him. Well, maybe enough to keep him breathing, but there was no delicacy involved. It's funny to think how he got better and better the more time he spent far from AFO. That and the surgery he had to undergo...
Which is a wonderful terrible concept. It's about the cleansing, how AFO was preparing Tomura's body to be his. Body modifications to assert ownership, that's a horror favorite. The idea of being "cured" to the point you can't recognize your own body. You know what I mean.
I'm glad that when rewind was used on Mirio, it cost him something. He lost his quirk for a while and he had to make an effort to go back to who he was. I'd say that the nature of the story helped him bounce and that's a chance we didn't see his struggle a bit more.
Anyway, that's my opinion on the matter. I hope it'll be a variation I like and not something that's gonna leave me sweating cold every time I dare to remember it.

MHA 415 leak reactions
Once again, the leaker drama itself is hours of entertainment.
Short chapter and break next week. Get well Hori.
Chapter starts with Izuku prepared to force all of OFA on Tomura. The shared memories focus on USJ, an event where both Izuku and Tomura were present.
Izuku goes for the OFA transfer and Tomura REJECTS IT. Only En manages to get through and hit Tomura’s “psychic wound.” I think this means Izuku still has OFA and the remaining vestiges.
That’s when Izuku sees Tomura’s memory of the man in the suit taking him home. OH LAWD HE COMIN!!!!! (Will more memories of AFO allow him to puppet Tomura again?)
Hatsume and La Brava fail to pass the Bechdel test.
UA lands on the ground, meaning all our heroes are touching grass or lying down (All Might is on top of a building but can’t seem to move his legs.)
Cut to a shelter and Eri is off and running with Ectoplasm chasing her (Ectoplasm, who has clones and prosthetic legs).
What or who is Eri running towards? And where’s Aizawa, Mic, and Kurogiri???

OH COME ON!!!! THAT'S DEFINITELY AFO!!! LET IZUKU SEE AFO'S FULL FACE FROM SHIGARAKI'S MEMORIES AND CONFIRM DFO THEORY IS RIGHT OR NOT ALREADY!!!!
Tumblr media
Just kidding, Hori-sensei must've been working really hard to cook this manga, he deserves the break on the next week (3rd march).
But really, if you think about it, Izuku never really saw AFO's full adult face (after he rewinded), so I'm curious if DFO theory are true, would izuku recognize AFO as his father if he sees AFO's full adult face (not shadowed like in the vestige).
even if izuku not recognizing his own father when his father's face is only slightly covered (in the vestige) is questionable in and of itself , again, AFO had so many quirks, one or two of them being capable of disturbing face recognition or altering memories wouldn't be a surprise.

Guys
Tenko and Eri are parallels
TENKO AND ERI ARE PARALLELS
TENKO AND ERI ARE PARALLELSSSSSSS
Let’s compare.
Tenko:
Has a (potentially) destructive quirk
Was abused and treated harshly
Killed member(s) of their family with their quirk
Needed a hero (needed saving)
Red eyes
Eri:
Has a (potentially) destructive quirk
Was abused and treated harshly
Killed member(s) of their family with their quirk
Needed a hero (needed saving)
Red eyes
But for all their similarities, what separates them is the people that “saved” them; the first people that showed each of them kindness, did so for two very different reasons.
For Tenko, he was acknowledged and taken in by someone that had ulterior motives, someone that had plans for him and intended to mold him into something that he wasn’t. And this involved utilizing Tenko’s trauma instead of healing it.
The man that “saved” Tenko didn’t see a scared, lost child that needed protection; he saw the perfect model for his future successor; he saw a puppet.
But for Eri, she was brought in by Midoriya and Co., people that genuinely wanted the best for her. They slowly helped her work through her trauma, and helped her with her quirk—and not for their own gain, but to help her learn to safely control it.
The people that saved Eri saw a scared, imprisoned child that needed rescue, and so they rescued her.
If we put Eri in Tenko’s place, in AFO’s hands, I believe that her story would have gone the same as Tenko’s, with Eri being manipulated and turned into a weapon of mass destruction.
But I also believe, from the bottom of my heart, that if Tenko were somehow found by Midoriya—when no one else saw him, and all hope seemed lost—I truly believe that Tenko would’ve healed just as Eri has.
I used to dislike the Overhaul arc. I thought the tone of it didn’t match the rest of the manga (fighting destiny? changing fate? feels a bit more magical), and although I adored Eri, I just couldn’t see her as being much more than a plot device for rewinding things (and of course, the cute factor she brought into every scene was unmatched).
But upon seeing her in the latest chapter (415), this revelation hit me like a ton of bricks, and honestly, I can’t believe I didn’t see it sooner; she’s basically the blueprint for Midoriya’s rescue of Shigaraki.

🚨 BOKU NO HERO ACADEMIA CHAPTER 415 SPOILERS ALERT! 🚨
New leaks with great quality!
Tumblr media
Deku prepares to transfer all the vestiges at once...
Tumblr media
Deku punches hard on Tomura but the transfer isn't possible because Shigaraki's rejection is so strong. But, he still received some damage.
Tumblr media
En is still managed to break through and get transferred.
Tumblr media
This makes Deku realize that he can't give up and he just has to keep trying.
Tumblr media
He sees in his blended memory, Tenko who is next to a man in suit. This was AFO who took little Tenko with him.
Tumblr media
Just a picture of an amazing Deku vs Shigaraki and his big fingers.
Tumblr media
Back to UA, the business course student is watching the fight. The chapter ends with Eri running with maybe an objective and Ectoplasm trying to stop her...
Break next week!
Take care Hori-sensei!

So it’s looking like we might be getting the ‘AFO gave Tenko his quirk’ theory confirmed and I gotta be honest; I am not in favor. I’m hardly the first to take this position, both before and after this chapter dropped, but if I may attempt to put into words why; it’s that I don't think it can really add anything except reveal postmortem some new way AFO is bad in the best case & handing Deku a potential deus ex machina in the worst case.
Tumblr media
Like, the best case result of such a revelation at this point in the plot is that it's just to make AFO seem more evil by making him the root cause of the Shimura tragedy, except…only in a way that doesn’t even matter. Like, this reveal shouldn’t change any of Tomura’s motivations or talking points; he already knows AFO manipulated him & hates him for that, but he also hates Kotaro, Nana, All Might, and the greater hero society for the role they played in his tragedy, and AFO giving him Decay wouldn’t change how much everyone else I listed deserves that ire. It just means that some of the tragic happenstance of the Shimuras that seemingly could've happened to anyone was instead purposefully cause by that jerk we know.
It’s like if we learned AFO killed Endeavor’s father, leading him down the path to become the domestic abuser we know him as. Thus the tragedy of the Todorokis would also come back to AFO...but y’know…not in anyway that matters. Endeavor, Touya, and everyone else involved still made their choices; AFO’s just the root cause of it all by sheer technicality. How diabolical, I might care if he were still relevant.
Tumblr media
The worst case result of such a revaluation of course is that it gives Deku an unearned & largely uninteresting easy out to solving the problem that is Tomura's rage. Because if AFO gave him Decay, then he's actually the one ultimately responsible for near everything, if not just everything wrong in Tomura's life (even if, again, just by technicality in some areas). Never mind the rolls Kotaro, Nana, All Might, and greater hero society played in it; AFO's the real root cause of it all whose been manipulating Tomura for longer than he even knows, so he should just stop caring about that other stuff.
Plus it'd also mean Tomura doesn't exist to destroy because Decay isn't his true quirk (never mind how that's not why he thinks that & he never even put much stock into that quirk-identity stuff anyway) so he can just stop being a villain now please.
Yeah this all just doesn't seem like the most interesting way for Deku to tackle Tomura's trauma, talking points, or motivations.
Tumblr media
Plus, like a live action Disney movie, the idea's kind of felt like it’s tying up a ‘plot hole’ that didn’t need tying up; that might even work better as a coincidental tragedy. Like; people act like this can’t be just a tragedy, it's too convenient, it has to be some master machination of the grand demon lord who…is already beaten, dead, and doesn’t factor into anyone’s plot lines or themes anymore. At best, to make him seem more evil long after the point we have any reason to care; at worst, to give Deku an easy out (with the side effect of making him seem like a worse hero who can’t save villains in Tomura's position without unique circumstances to make it easy).
Also like a live action Disney movie, this almost feels like it opens up a plot hole in trying to tie one up. Because as we know; Tenko’s circumstances are identical to Eri’s, down to the signs of their quirks being random mutations. When I said the tragic happenstance of the Shimuras we're blaming AFO for could've happened to anyone; I know this because it happened verbatim to her. So if those circumstances (just so happening to get a deadly quirk that kills their families, which just so happen to be connected to the villain who'll use & abuse them, etc.) are seen as suspicious, early signs that AFO gave Tenko Decay…did he or another villain give Eri Rewind? Almost certainly not; but if not then why does she get a random mutation-caused tragedy, while Tenko must have been the victim of some villain’s plot that's already been foiled?

So my point is: I really hope this is just a red herring. Revealing that AFO gave Tenko Decay kind of feels like it undercuts the Shimura tragedy as something that could've happened to any kid in Tenko or Eri's shoes; and I don't think any payoff you'd get for that undercutting is worth it.
We should instead get the much funnier revaluation that the man who brought Tenko home that day was, rather than AFO, a completely different man who Deku would coincidentally recognize: Hisashi Midoriya.
