Regarding the hearstopper thing, I saw some wondering what kinda story it is and then I saw this on twitter: twitter(.)com/greyharuka/status/1523137888568762368
--
It looks like the original tweet is protected.
My favorite tweet of the replies is:
"I wish the wild 90s new queer cinema would come back as neo queer cinema. You know, as a protest to this Nancy Reagan-que treatment of teens having sex, regardless of them being gay or not. For all these zoomers wanting to celebrate 1990s nostalgia, they would never survive it."
I came of age in the 90s, and the films that meant a lot to me at the time tended to be Weird Sex Movies.
Velvet Goldmine was on the clean and tidy end. It's a highly fictionalized account of a teenager discovering his gayness through worshiping glam rock stars, a m/m glam rockstar relationship full of drama, drugs, and betrayal, and space aliens coming down from space to give Oscar Wilde a magic jewel that later created glam rock.
No. Really. I always forget that it's Oscar Wilde's inspiration FROM SPACE that starts that movie. But anyway, it's bizarre and queer, and as an adult, I can better appreciate Toni Collette's bisexual tryhard rock star wife character. Oh, there's also some creepy underage sex I found very hot as a teen.
So that was on the wholesome end.
On the less wholesome end was Crash, not the one that proves the Oscars are bullshit but the creepy pervert one about the disaffected guy falling in with a cult leader after car crash trauma and sharing women with him. I remember sitting there thinking "Wow, this is the epitome of how male desire seems to really be about the other guy triangulated through the medium of these wo... Oh."
Bless weird 90s art films for making the subtext text.
And then it ends in attempted murder and suicide and James Spader fucking his wife in the middle of a car crash because it's that kind of movie.
Also Almodóvar. Soooo much Almodóvar.
People can cry me a river about ~sexualized~ media, but I'm glad all the weird 90s shit was there for me when I needed it.

List 7 comfort films and tag 7 people
I was tagged by @somebirdortheother - thank you, m'dear!
Mmkay, but...I don't really re-watch movies unless I've introduced them to someone who's never seen them. I saw the Lord of the Rings trilogy in theaters 20-odd years ago and since then have had no desire to watch them again. I'm not someone who returns to familiar media "just because." So! I will give a list of 7 films I've insisted on introducing others to, because they're fucking amazing films.
Blade Runner (1982) - Have shown this to a million people because it's my favorite film. The Final Cut, of course.
The Lost Boys (1987) - One of the most quotable movies in history, dammit. The soundtrack slaps, too.
Alien (1979) - I mean...come on. A classic for a reason.
The Proposition (2005) - Oh, Nick Cave. You sick, beautiful bastard. He wrote the screenplay, and wrote the music with fellow Bad Seed Warren Ellis (who is not the comics guy). This film is definitely not for everyone. Along those same lines...
Wind River (2017) - Cave and Ellis just did the music on this one. But it's also an incredible film. One scene near the end tore my heart out and ate it in front of me.
...and 7! Fright Night (both 1985 and the 2011 remake) - Both of these movies are hilarious. They're a little like Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2: one was possibly unintentionally campy, the other knew exactly what it fucking was and played it to the maximum. I honestly recommend the remake. Colin Farrell is sleazy-hot as Jerry the vampire, the always-awesome Toni Collette, David Tennant as a disenchanted douchebag Vegas stage magician, and the wonderful Anton Yelchin (may his memory be a blessing). Plus a cameo by the original Jerry!
Ummm... I'll tag @porlovistoeinmasochist, @clumsycopy, @gefionne, @gaybiebara, @niennawept (feel free to yell at me for the LOTR comment), @acleverforgery, and @melkors-big-tits.

One week after Megan Thee Stallion issued a public plea for people to "stop using [her] shooting for clout," the Southern Black Girls & Women's Consortium shared an open letter of support for the rapper denouncing violence against women and praising her bravery.
Megan, 27, was allegedly shot in the foot by singer Tory Lanez, 30, in July 2020, and he was charged that October with two felony counts. He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
In the years since, she has been forced to face critics who support Lanez, and in June, said she felt as though she had become "the villain" in the situation.
In the Consortium's letter, which was shared on Thursday, more than two dozen signees including #MeToo founder Tarana Burke, Planned Parenthood CEO Alexis McGill Johnson, Congresswomen Maxine Waters and Sheila Jackson Lee, activist Tamika Mallory and Angela Rye joined forces to offer their vocal support of the star, who partnered with the Consortium on the inaugural Joy Is Our Journey tour in August.
The letter is addressed to the "Plan B" rapper, and begins by praising her meteoric rise to fame and continued success, which make her an "inspiration" to "women all over the world."
"You're a special kind of talent and a special kind of person; the place you hold in your fans' hearts is a testament to that," the letter says. "As you've risen to the top, you've also had to endure a lot of obstacles along the way. In the face of triumph and tragedy alike, you always keep your head held high, maintain your poise and push forward."
Still, it goes on to acknowledge that the Grammy-winning star has "been treated in ways that no young woman—no person at all—should be treated. It must be said that our culture has failed you, one of its most brightly shining daughters."
Though Megan has repeatedly labeled Lanez an "abuser," she's had to endure many people in the industry supporting him. Earlier this month, Drake appeared to accuse her of making up the shooting in the lyrics to his song "Circo Loco."
"And when the mf facts come out remember y'all hoe ass favorite rappers that stood behind a N— that SHOT A FEMALE," Megan replied on Twitter. "People attack me y'all go up for it , i defend myself now I'm doing too much … every time it never ends and this did NOT happen until I came out and said I got shot … y'all don't [f— with me] okay cool f— it bye."
The letter calls out the "public harassment and taunting" Megan received from Lanez and his supporters, and says she's "consistently been clear about what happened" to her, but has not received the support she should.
Megan Thee Stallion Responds After Drake Seems to Accuse Her of Lying About Tory Lanez Shooting
"You don't deserve any of this, Megan," it reads. "You deserve to be heard, to be believed, and most importantly, to be safe."
The letter continues with a more general plea to continue supporting and believing victims of domestic violence, particularly Black women, who the letter says are often "fearful of what will happen to their assailant if they choose to involve the law… and are left unprotected by the system and the community alike."
Megan has said that she was shot by Lanez, whom she considered a friend, after an argument broke out between her, her friend and Lanez as they drove home from a poolside get-together at Kylie Jenner's house.
An LAPD detective testified at a preliminary hearing in December that Lanez shouted "Dance, bitch!" before shooting.
The "Luv" singer was charged in October 2020 with one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. He pleaded not guilty to both charges in November 2020.
Lanez was ordered to house arrest and electronic monitoring in October, and will reportedly stay monitored through the scheduled start of his trial on Nov. 28.
Read the Consortium's letter in full below.
Dear Megan,
You are larger than life in many ways; your name is in lights, your face on billboards, your songs in the history books…and this is still just the beginning of your story. In a very short amount of time, you've achieved success probably beyond your wildest dreams, and it seems that each day brings a new announcement about something amazing you've done or are preparing to do. Women all over the world consider you an inspiration, in part because you make them feel good about themselves. You're a special kind of talent and a special kind of person; the place you hold in your fans' hearts is a testament to that.
As you've risen to the top, you've also had to endure a lot of obstacles along the way. In the face of triumph and tragedy alike, you always keep your head held high, maintain your poise, and push forward. However, while so many of us celebrate you for your strength and perseverance, it must be said that you have been treated in ways that no young woman–no person at all–should be treated.
It must be said that our culture has failed you, one of its most brightly shining daughters. In July of 2020, you experienced a violation of the highest order at the hands of someone whom you considered a friend. Since then, you've had to endure public harassment and taunting not only from that person but from others choosing to stand with him. Bloggers have circulated rumors and excitedly reported on the most traumatic experience of your life as if it were juicy gossip, often perpetuating the idea that you've got a reason to lie, that you shouldn't be believed. You've consistently been clear about what happened to you, but instead of being met with widespread support, people who should have had your back have chosen to stay out of the matter.
You don't deserve any of this, Megan. You deserve to be heard, to be believed, and most importantly, to be safe.
There is no amount of power or prestige that can prevent a woman from becoming a victim of violence and there is no level of achievement that exempts women from our society's complacency with that violence.
You may be a boss, the "hot girl coach," and a bonafide superstar, but that doesn't mean that you don't experience pain. No one is too 'bad,' too famous, too powerful to feel hurt. You've had to navigate this deeply difficult experience in the public eye, and while you've managed to stand strong and to keep showing up to work in spite of it all, it can't be understated how unfair it is that you're in this position to begin with.
Violence against women is still entirely too common and acceptable in our world. We make excuse after excuse to explain away even the most heinous acts, especially when the person accused is a celebrity of any sort. Being a celebrity, however, will not guarantee a woman any sympathy when she is a victim.
Black women are also often fearful of what will happen to their assailant if they choose to involve the law–as you yourself were afraid to do–and are left unprotected by the system and the community alike. If someone as influential as you can be belittled and mocked as nothing but a liar for standing up for herself, that speaks a volume about what a woman who doesn't have your resources or fame can expect to endure when she's found herself in a similar position.
An estimated one in three women worldwide has been the victim of sexual and/or domestic violence. Here in the United States, the numbers are higher for Black women, who also experience psychological abuse–such as humiliation, name-calling, and insults–at an increased rate. Women of all races, cis and trans, are suffering daily and we're all too complacent. From day one, you deserved a chorus of voices saying, "We believe you, Megan," and though you may not have been able to hear us sooner, know that we are with you now and every step of the way as you continue to heal from this tragedy. We are committed to making the world safer for you and all women, and one of the important steps that we must take to get there is to make it so that women who have been victims of violence can speak about their experiences without being attacked or dismissed.
You've been so strong, Megan, but that's not what we should demand nor expect from you. You deserve the space to cry, mourn and heal as you see fit without having to worry about being judged for having a human reaction to a personal tragedy.
Even in the midst of your own traumatic experience and healing, you recognized that other girls needed to experience joy and partnered with Southern Black Girls and Women's Consortium on the inaugural Joy Is Our Journey tour impacting thousands of girls across the south. You have remained committed to the focus of mental health and well being in our community even when your own has been minimized, marginalized, and deemphasized. We want you to know that you are important and you matter to us and to millions of women around the globe. Your life matters. Your work matters. Your joy matters. You deserve joy. We stand with you.
We salute you for the bravery it has taken to defend yourself in the court of public opinion, though you shouldn't have had to do so at all. We raise our voices against those who have made light of this heinous example of violence against women and will drown them out with our demands for society to take what happens to Black women seriously. You are not alone. You are believed, loved, and supported.
We stand with you Megan.

Hi. It's yo favorite n word; giving you summaries of the Tri Stone Era. This go around; these are characters hailing from Story #13: Bringing the Signz. It's a story about an elven (disregard the lack of ear art) fantasy, high in magical content & potency world. Big huge massive planet with six continents, a south pole & a north pole. All lands are highly magical, fruitful, bountiful, mysterious & the thing that's going to always be there; dangerous.
These two groups of characters are fairies & solo elves. In a clockwise motion, starting at noon; the Fairy of Our Sun, the Fairy of Death, the Fairy of Treats, the Fairy of Hearts, the Fairy of Rainbows & the Fairy of Sounds. Fairies are like gods, they belong to where thrones are said to be. They are the heart of nations in a grand scheme, how the people treat them determines how prosperous a nation's lands will be. They are home to the temple under the castles/thrones but have free range of doing whatever they desire.
The soloists, in a clockwise motion; starting at the top... Slauta Cra is a traveling sorceress, always ready to slaughter; fucking always. Mystara, she's a tale of tales created by the Ladies of the Tri Stone Era; you'll discover her target someday. Collette is a traveling wizardress; always up for ruining societies. 3 Zhipper, formerly a slave; luck blessed him highly someday to the point that he is now a mage with three huge chips on his shoulder. Halvory, the leader of a community of the Zoristas Continent; he is revered as a hero amongst his people & will help the Five Brothers bring royalty back to Zoristas. Finally, Gred Galius; a man filled to the brim with revenge against the Brotherhood. By any means necessary will be a detriment to all societies.

CONTROL THE LIFE-SHAPING POWER OF YOUR THOUGHTS AND ATTITUDES

CONTROL THE LIFE-SHAPING POWER OF YOUR THOUGHTS AND ATTITUDES
THE SCIENTIFIC ARGUMENT FOR OPTIMISM
There’s a hot field of research in the behavioral sciences. It’s called positive psychology, and it’s proving that attitude profoundly affects performance. Study after study spells out the benefits: Optimists get paid more, are healthier, win more elections, live longer, plus are better at dealing with uncertainty and change.
A lot of people have pretty much felt this at a gut level. What’s new is the confirming evidence from sophisticated research. It highlights the power of our thinking patterns, and shows the broad influence optimism has on personal effectiveness, happiness, and overall health.
Now we’ve got hard data. Science proves that optimism is a huge asset—for you as a person, or as a cultural trait that cuts across the whole organization.
OPTIMISM VS. PESSIMISM: THE PAYOFF
Why is optimism so valuable?
An attitude of positive expectancy energizes us and calls out our potential. It heightens our awareness of opportunity. Optimism points a powerful beam of light into the darker corners of our lives, revealing possibilities that are hiding in the shadows. The positive-minded person interprets events from the angle of hope, finding benefits and creative solutions the pessimist overlooks.
Compare that to the price tag that pessimism carries.
A negative frame of mind saps your energy, as well as the energy of people around you. It weakens your confidence. It hurts your creativity and problem-solving skills. You end up focusing on obstacles, and that interferes with your ability to spot opportunities. Finally, pessimism drains the joy out of life, leaving you emotionally spent and less effective in dealing with others.
BUILDING PSYCHOLOGICAL MUSCLE
The good news? Optimism can be learned. Practiced. We can develop it, much like any other skill.
First, let’s make a clear distinction between “hard optimism” and the old-time “power of positive thinking.” Research shows that the real muscle in hard optimism doesn’t come from merely repeating positive statements to ourselves. Instead, it comes when we change how we deal with our negative thoughts and feelings.
Let’s put it a different way: Positive thinking is important, but non-negative thinking is the essence of hard optimism. The secret is to manage the way we explain situations to ourselves—especially when we experience failure, difficulties, uncertainty, or loss, but also as we encounter opportunity and success.
Psychologists have discovered that optimism and pessimism are not two poles on a single scale. They’re two quite separate dimensions. And the best results seem to come when we consciously reshape our mental activity that’s pessimistic.
Hard optimism represents a disciplined, deliberate way of thinking about whatever life throws at us. It’s about focusing on blessings rather than bad things . . . emphasizing opportunities instead of obstacles . . . explaining events to ourselves in a way that enhances performance and improves our quality of life.
YOU’RE THE BOSS OF YOUR ATTITUDE
Nobody can do our thinking for us.
Optimism or pessimism—ultimately, it’s your choice. You get to decide how you want to frame events. You choose how you’ll interpret circumstances. Each of us is the engineer of our emotional life, the architect of our own happiness.
There’s a lot riding on this issue of attitude . . . design optimistically.
“What an interesting life I had. And how I wish I had realized it sooner.” –Collette

My world has changed and it makes me appreciate not only being able to become a mother but to see my own mother in a whole new light" - Nikki Bunkall, MTS Ambassador.
"I love my mum, she has always been my biggest supporter in life, in everything that I do". Sophie Collett, MTS Howick Assistant Manager

Warnings? Demon! Dean, mentions of cheating, sex, killing and lots of cursing
You sat just outside of the armory flat on the cool tile floor with your eyes closed. You couldn't bare to walk through that door. It had been weeks since that night you spent wrapped in Dean's arms. You told Sam you'd seen Dean, that he had sought you out. You didn't tell him everything that had happened or that Dean knew what had happened between the two of you.
You weren't praying for the simple fact that you knew with the exception of Cas no one was listening that would care. Sam had left to get the blessed blood after carting Dean inside the bunker. You'd stayed out of sight the entire time. Now you had to face Dean and watch him go through what you knew would be an excruciating process to flush the demon out of him.
"Are you ok?" Sam's voice drew you out of your thoughts. You opened your eyes to see him standing about a foot away from you "Just trying to get my head on right Sam" he nodded with a sympathetic smile "You know you don't have to go in there yet. This is gonna take a while" "I can't do that Sam. I can't turn away, he wouldn't do it to me if positions were reversed nor would he do it to you"
He held his good hand out but you shook your head and climbed to your feet "Let's do this"
--------
You took a deep breath as you watched Sam splash holy water and repeat the Latin that would concentrate the ground for the process to work. Dean hadn't looked your way yet and you weren't sure if you were relieved or hurt.
You watched Sam draw up the blood in a syringe. Dean eyed it as well finally meeting your eyes before saying "Sammy you know I hate shots" Sam shrugged "I hate demons" you flinched when Dean snarled at Sam before Sam splashed holy water on him and injected the blood into his arm right below the mark.
Dean's eyes never left yours, a groan of pain leaving him before he shook it off. "Look Dean there's a lot more doses to go. You could make it a lot easier on yourself" Sam told him then turned to walk off. He stopped where you were glued to the floor staring at Dean. "Are you ok?"
Dean spoke up "Oh Y/N's fine alone with me black eyes and all. Isn't that right sweetheart?" A flicker of a smile flashed across his face and your stomach flipped. Sam looked between the two of you visibly confused before Dean smirked "Oh she didn't get around to that Sammy? Yeah me and her had a damn good time in Colorado"
"Y/N?" Sam's voice wasn't accusatory just simply asking. You stared past him at Dean "Yeah I fucked him that night Sam" "A few times" Dean added and you felt your face warm from embarrassment. "Come on" Sam grabbed your arm to pull you from the room and you heard a slight growl from Dean before the two of you made it out into the hallway.
-------
"You didn't tell me you had sex with him" Sam's voice was barely a whisper. You followed him down the hall to the kitchen "Didn't exactly know how to throw that into casual conversation"
You sat down at the table holding your head in your hands. Sam walked to the fridge then sat a bottle of water down in front of you "It's understandable Y/N. You love him" you slowly raised your eyes and he nearly choked on the water in his mouth "How did he find out?" You shrugged "Crowley somehow? I guess"
You normally didn't hear Sam curse a whole lot but the string of words that fell from his mouth would've made a sailor blush. "Shit you shouldn't be here then" you shook your head "I'm not fucking leaving you alone with him Sam. He won't hurt me, there's still something inside of him stopping that whether it's the Cain and Collette thing. You on the other hand, our real Dean he'd never forgive himself if he did something to you. The least I owe you both is staying through whatever happens next"
He reached across the table and gently grabbed your hand and gave it a light squeeze "You're still my best friend, you know that. We'll get him back and deal with the fall out of everything that happened" you swallowed hard then said "If we get him back Sam, I'm leaving. I know Dean...seeing me and you in close quarters he won't handle it well and I won't be what tears you two apart" "and if he doesn't want you to leave?" He asked in almost a whisper and you laughed sadly "Then miracles really do happen"
-------
The second dose you didn't go in for and there were no words exchanged between Sam and Dean. You stood in the hallway listening to Dean in pain and fought everything inside of you that screamed to run to his side.
------
The third dose you walked in behind Sam. Dean met your eyes "For all you know he's killing me sweetheart" "Or you're screwing with him and me" you replied trying to not let your heart get in the way of your brain.
"Besides the lore didn't say anything about an exception to the cure" Sam added and Dean scoffed "The lore..hunters...men of letters. What a load of crap it all is" when you nor Sam said anything in return he tilted his head at Sam "Oh you got nothing?"
You shook your head at Sam trying to remind him that this was the demon part talking not Dean. You were relieved when he said "What do you want me to debate you? This isn't even the real you I'm talking to" Dean turned towards you "Y/N did I feel real enough to you? Hell come here and give me a kiss baby" you turned and walked out without a word and heard him laugh before turning back to Sam.
--------
You tried to call Cas but he didn't answer so after a moment you walked back into the room. You heard Dean say "Crowley told me all about it. So let me ask which one of us is really a monster?"
You walked further into the room and cut your eyes at Sam "What's he mean? What did you do?" You knew both you and Sam had went to different extremes to find Dean but there were a few weeks you barely saw each other. "Oh she doesn't know..man that's rich"
"You two were trying to get a twenty on me and Crowley from any direction you could but Crowley didn't want to be found and no one showed when Sammy summoned so he found a way" you looked from one brother to the other "Sam?" He was looking at Dean who half smirked "Oh he would've liked to have gotten there before the deal went down but he didn't really care about poor ol Lester..did ya Sammy?"
It didn't take a lot to put together what you'd missed. "Oh Sam" Dean chuckled darkly "Yeah I killed Lester myself and his wife married that tattooed guy" "I never meant" Sam started but Dean cut him off "Who cares what you meant? That line between us and what we hunt ain't so clear is it? Wow you might actually be worse than me. I mean you found a guy at his lowest, used him and then it cost him his life and his soul. Nice work and Y/N here fucked us both so what does that say about her?"
You felt like you'd been slapped in the face when Dean threw those words at you. Sam injected another syringe of blood into Dean's neck and you tried with everything you had to not let yourself break before walking out the room. You could hear Dean asking Sam if he or you had the stomach to do what would be needed should the cure not work and felt your knees weaken at the mere thought.
-----
Sam found you in the map room staring blankly at the screen. "Hey, that's not really him" you raised your face and knew he saw the streaks of tears when you said "Isn't it?" You pushed away from the table when he took a step towards you and shook your head "I just need a minute"
You walked past him to the room you'd been sleeping in. You sat down on the edge of the bed and looked over to the photo of you, Dean and Sam at Bobby's place that was leaned against the lamp next to the letter Dean had left that night.
You knew all that was happening had been a possibility and the truth was any amount of heartbreak was worth getting Dean's eyes back permanently green. If that night was the last you got in his arms you'd be grateful for it if he just survived this cure.
-------
You wiped your tears and headed back to the armory. The moment you got to the doorway your heart dropped "SAM" you screamed running in to Dean's side. You stepped closer than you should've but his head was dropped down and you couldn't tell if he was breathing. "Baby, please wake up Dean. Come back to us please" you slapped his cheeks lightly and heard Sam come running in behind you "Is he ok?"
"Yeah if drowning in your own sweat while your blood boils is ok" Dean answered slowly opening his eyes and you hadn't realized just how close you were to him until that moment. "He could stop this darling. You know I'd never hurt you. Just make him stop" you quickly stepped away from him and shook your head "No. We want the real Dean back"
You knew Sam was drawing up another dose but Dean leveled you with his gaze "You think the real Dean is gonna be so forgiving? I mean at least I screwed strangers you on the other hand, my baby brother? That's low Y/N. I would've preferred you fucking Cas"
"Well if you hate me at least you'll be human to do so" you replied then walked out hoping he didn't see the way your hands shook.
------
One minute you were walking back to the armory after making sure the outer door was unlocked for Cas then the next Sam was pulling you into a side hallway holding his hand over your mouth. "He's out" he mouthed and your eyes widened.
"What's the plan?" You whispered once he moved his hand. "C'MON SAMMY. DON'T YOU WANNA HANG OUT WITH YOUR BIG BROTHER" rang through the quiet air and you flinched. "We need to lock it down. Keys are in the map room" you nodded then pointed "I'll go left and make some noise for him to follow. You go right"
"Y/N..be careful" you half smiled "You too"
--------
You ran down the hall towards the bedrooms making sure to let your feet fall heavy. "Dean?" You called out hoping he'd come after you and not Sam. Sure enough you felt the air shift a half second before your back was shoved against a wall "Hey there beautiful. Where's Sammy?" He had one arm across your chest holding you in place while the other held a hammer.
Your eyes flicked towards it and he smiled "It's not for you. If I wanted to nail you there's better ways" you groaned at the fact that even murderous Demonic Dean had to make bad jokes. "I don't know" he nodded and moved forward catching your lips in a bruising kiss "I believe you but I don't need you getting in the way"
You weren't sure what he meant until he shoved you roughly into a storage room and shut the door. "DEAN GOD DAMMIT DON'T DO THIS!" you pounded against the door and heard the key turn in the handle "Just calm down baby" was the last thing you heard before his footsteps disappeared down the hall.
-------
Painfully long minutes passed before the door slowly opened. You half expected it to be Dean covered in Sam's blood but let out a breath of relief when you saw it was Cas and flung yourself into his arms hugging him "Thank god" you muttered squeezing the angel who returned the hug fully. "Dean didn't hurt you, did he?" You shook your head "Just locked me in here so I wouldn't get in the way"
He grabbed your arm "Come on. Sam's fine but there's only two more doses to give Dean" you let Cas pull you to the armory trying to ignore the growing knot in your stomach.
--------
You stood between Sam and Cas while Dean slowly woke up. He looked between the three of you "You look worried" you nodded to Sam who splashed the Holy water onto Dean. He didn't even flinch "Welcome home Dean" Sam said with a relieved smile.
-------
You were sitting on the counter in the kitchen nursing a beer. You'd seen Sam when he got back with Dean's food and had told Cas goodbye before he left but you still couldn't face Dean. What he said had stuck with you. He may have cheated as well but it was with strangers and as a demon. You had slept with his brother of all people. You wouldn't want to be with you either.
-------
Hours passed. You saw Sam head to bed and slowly headed towards your own room. You stopped in front of Dean's door and almost knocked but thought better of it. The moment you went to step away though the door opened and you heard his voice "Y/N?" You turned around with a small smile "I just wanted to check on you" he nodded then glanced back into his room "You haven't been sleeping in here have you?"
You shook your head "I couldn't" you didn't know what else to say. Every time you'd tried to sleep in the bed you shared with him you'd ended up crying yourself to sleep. "Do you want to? I mean fuck I don't have a right to ask but will you just lay down with me? Let me hold you." You couldn't believe your ears but your mouth moved faster than your brain it seemed "Are you sure?"
He gave you a smirk that was a ghost of his usual one "I started the day as a demon and tried to kill my brother but you're asking me if I'm sure" you held your hand out and when he took it walked into the room pulling him behind you.
------
He shut the door then pulled you behind him to the bed. He sat down on the side of it and pulled you between his legs. You stood there with your hands on his shoulders just enjoying knowing you had your Dean back even if he decided he no longer wanted to be yours. "Are you scared of me Y/N?" He asked and that shocked you more than anything "What? No" he glanced down at his lap then raised his eyes to you playfully "You could be closer"
You kicked your boots off then climbed onto his lap effectively straddling him. "I've missed you and not just the sex, this" he whispered burying his face in your neck. "Do you still love me?" You asked and he drew back to look you in the face "Yeah Sweetheart I still love you. Can you ever forgive me for everything I did?" "Are you still mine?" You asked and he kissed your neck lightly "I'll always be yours even if you don't want me"
You smiled and felt tears trying to sting your eyes "I've only ever wanted you Dean" he noticed the tears glistening in your eyes and gently wiped them away "Those women didn't mean anything. The mark and being a demon..it fucked me up and i didn't want to risk hurting you. I stayed away as long as I could but when Crowley told me that you and Sam.." he trailed off but his hands tightened around your waist. "It didn't mean anything to us but helping to keep each other sane and alive. I was hurt and lost and so was he…" Dean cut you off with a kiss and you melted into his touch.
When he pulled away he pushed your hair back out of your face "Can we call this a new start?" His hands had slid under your shirt and you felt his fingertips trailing across your bare skin. "Please" you all but whispered pulling him into another kiss.

Nightmare Alley (2021)
Tumblr media
Huh.  I really wish GDT would have pushed this one a little farther.  All told, it’s a pretty standard remake of Nightmare Alley, not really offering much of a fresh perspective.  Chief new angles include Stanton’s trajectory and the approach to boundary-pushing.  Unlike 47!Stanton, 21!Stanton starts off with a darker-hued past.  He’s already killed his father, and Pete’s death is at best ambiguous, at worst intentional whereas in the original it was purely accidental sleight-of-hand.  His closing moments are a poignant twist, a man knowing what he’s getting into with a potentially spiked drink, laughing in misery at the world, rather than a simple brawling drunk as in the earlier iteration.  Edmund Goulding’s version was transgressive for its time in just how far it was willing to push the envelope.  Del Toro seems to aim for this through shocking violence, a gruesome explosion in the climax.  Faces are beaten in, bodies run over and ears shot.  All good gore, but it felt out of place in the rest of the movie and not really necessary to the narrative.
Aside from a few wonderful moments, this felt like a weirdly flat film from GDT.  The opening funhouse set is glorious, all mechanical eyes and huge devil faces.  It’s foreboding and vibrant.  The strange cyclopic fetus that presides over the circus, observing all, gets a callback in Stanton’s blindfold design.  He does get some winks to his earlier films in.  The fetus jars evoke Devil’s Backbone and the aforementioned skull-bashing recalls the violence of Pan’s Labyrinth.  Dr Ritter has an Enola brand safe, a nod to Crimson Peak.  Everything else has the trappings of a slick prestige film but doesn’t establish that same visual fingerprint del Toro so effortlessly commands.
THE RULES
SIP
Someone says ‘geek’.
Stanton begins a cold read.
Toni Collette shows up, bless her.
A new notch in GDT’s casting belt shows up.
BIG DRINK
Gore!
Backhanded reference to another GDT film.
You want to just switch it off and rewatch Pan’s Labyrinth instead.

highlights of January
There will be two sections this time: the new films and the re-watched ones as I have seen a lot of films for the second time this month. This actually brought me to choose the theme of this year’s challenge (albeit a bit too late): second chances. Turns out I enjoy most of the films I used to hate. Go figure.
New in 2022
1. Favourite movies: Good News (1947), 23 Paces to Baker Street (1956), Much Ado About Nothing (1993).
2. Decent films I liked / appreciated but not loved: Nightmare Alley (2021), Sitting Pretty (1948)
3. Best scenes: eavesdropping in Sitting Pretty (1948); the cafeteria number and the library flirting / song (Good News, 1947); Benedick vs the chair / the ‘balcony’ confession / the chapel confession (Much Ado About Nothing, 1993).
4. Favourite genres: romance, comedy, noir, musical.
5. Favourite directors: Kenneth Branagh (Much Ado About Nothing, 1993); Guillermo del Toro (Nightmare Alley, 2021); Walter Lang (Sitting Pretty, 1948); Henry Hathaway (23 Paces to Baker Street, 1956); Charles Walters (Good News, 1947).
6. Favourite actors: this is a lot.
Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson, Michael Keaton, Denzel Washington (Much Ado About Nothing, 1933); Willem Dafoe (Nightmare Alley, 2021); Basil Rathbone (The Woman in Green, 1945); Minnie Dupree / Douglas Fairbanks Jr. (The Young in Heart, 1938); Clifton Webb (Sitting Pretty, 1948); Van Johnson (Easy to Love, 1953 / 23 Paces to Baker Street, 1956); Joan McCracken, June Allyson, Peter Lawford (Good News, 1947).
7. Least favourite performances: I couldn’t warm up to Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy in The Music Box (1932) but maybe I just don’t like this kind of humour. But also, Keanu Reeves in Much Ado About Nothing (1993). That’s it. I have nothing else to say. What a trainwreck.
8. The most wasted cast: Jack Benny, Ann Sheridan, Charles Coburn (George Washington Slept Here, 1942). I attribute it to slow, practically comatose direction. There were a few moments but overall it was just a drag.
9. The best premise: Sitting Pretty (1948). Lynn Belvedere is my new hero.
9. The best wasted premise: The Woman in Green (1945). Did you have to make it about hypnosis?? Really?
11. Favourite cast: Kate Beckinsale, Imelda Staunton, Jimmy Yuill, Brian Blessed, Phyllida Law, Emma Thompson, Denzel Washington, Kenneth Branagh, Patrick Doyle, Michael Keaton, Ben Elton (Much Ado About Nothing, 1993). I’m excluding Keanu Reeves from the list because that was excruciating. I still like the guy but man was that bad!
Also, just look at Nightmare Alley’s cast! What a powerhouse: Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Ron Perlman, David Strathairn, Tim Blake Nelson.
12. Favourite on-screen duos: Kenneth Branagh + Emma Thompson (Much Ado About Nothing, 1993); Maureen O'Hara + Clifton Webb (Sitting Pretty, 1948); Claudette Colbert + Fredric March (Honor Among Lovers, 1931) (I’m choosing to ignore how absolutely disturbing the plot is and just enjoy the rapport between the characters); Esther Williams + Van Johnson (Easy to Love, 1953) (another idiot male but still an enjoyable film); Van Johnson + Vera Miles (23 Paces to Baker Street, 1956); June Allyson + Peter Lawford (Good News, 1947).
13. Favourite on-screen relationships: Connie Lane + Tommy Marlowe (Good News, 1947); Benedick + Beatrice (Much Ado About Nothing, 1993).
14. Favourite characters: Connie Lane / Tommy Marlowe / Babe Doolittle (Good News, 1947); Benedick / Beatrice / Don Pedro (Much Ado About Nothing, 1993); Phillip Hannon (23 Paces to Baker Street, 1956); Lynn Belvedere (Sitting Pretty, 1948).
15. Favourite quote: If it proves so, then loving goes by haps; some Cupid kills with arrows, some with traps (William Shakespeare curtesy of Much Ado About Nothing, 1993).
16. Favourite fact discovered in 2022: Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson used to be married. I love this fact so much, it gives me so much life! But I hate that he cheated on her with Helena Bonham Carter. That breaks my heart... But at least I understand why their chemistry is so palpable in Much Ado About Nothing (1993).
17. The most overrated film: The Music Box (1932). 8.0 imdb rating is a bit much.
18. The most disappointing film: The Woman in Green (1945) disappointed me because I loved pretty much all the films from Basil’s Sherlock collection up to this point and this one turned out to be really underwhelming. George Washington Slept Here (1942) is another one, but I already mentioned why I dislike this film above. It’s not worth repeating myself.
19. The most overrated / overlooked film: Good News (1947) is too pure for this world!
20. The biggest surprise: Much Ado About Nothing (1993). It’s so stupid and cheesy and hilarious! I adore this film!
As far as the actors go, Van Johnson is a revelation. I’ve liked him before but watching him now is like stepping into a bubble, nothing else matters and it’s just so very comforting.
I was also smitten by Minnie Dupree in The Young in Heart (1938). What a sweet, sweet lady…
21. Best cinematography: Dan Laustsen (Nightmare Alley, 2021). No competition whatsoever.
But also, a guick shoutot to the gloomy, mysterious and attractive 23 Paces to Baker Street (1956) curtesy Milton R. Krasner.
22. Best set design: Nightmare Alley (2021). It’s unsurpassable as far as I’m concerned.
24. Best costume design: I have no idea who to personally credit, so I’ll just credit the film overall: Nightmare Alley (2021).
24. Best music: Good News (1947)
25. Best production choice: casting Clifton Webb in Sitting Pretty (1948).
26. Worst production choice: casting Keanu Reeves (Much Ado About Nothing, 1993); glorifying workplace harassment (Honor Among Lovers, 1931); the hypnosis scenes (The Woman in Green, 1945).
27. The film of the month: overall quality-wise, Good News (1947). Enjoyment-wise, Much Ado About Nothing (1993).

To my angel, Naya:
You did it! You saved your son! You used all of you to save him and you did it! There's no words to describe how painful is to let you go so I will say how important you was to me. As a woman, I used to live in fear, I was afraid to use my voice to protect me and others but then I met Santana Lopez... she was a force of nature and inspired me to fight for myself and I did. As a latina, see others latina girls be so fierce, visible and getting space was so important. I loved you since then. Santana was not enough, I needed to met the person behind her and I met. I met a gorgeous, talented, strong, crazy, funny, lovely woman and I'm so grateful for that. I'm grateful for you.
I was so happy about season 3 of Step Up: High Water, I missed miss Collette Jones and I was hoping see you sing more too. I was wishing for an album because your voice is a blessing.
You left but your memory will always remain on those who loves you and this love will turn into support and prayers for your family and for Josey. He will know how much loved his mama was and how much his mama loved him.
I'm really sorry you can't be her no more, I can think that we will never hear your voice, your giggles, your words. Or never see your face again. It's painful but you teach me to be stronger and this is what I'm going to be.
Thank for sharing your talent and most of all, thank you for sharing your amazingness lovely big heart, thank you for the biggest and the little things you did who touch me and touch so many lives around the world. You are so much loved, Naya. I love you from the bottom of my heart.
Rest in peace, Nana, we will give love to your family and your children. Look down for them and for us.
I know Cory received you with a big smile and a big hug, I love both of you. Rest in Peace 🕊💙🙏🏽

Maria watches friday night lights (#36)
5x13, the series finale i have heard nothing but good things about - I made it y’all! *wipes tear* this is a show i will definitely rewatch! It definitely feels like the kind of show that’s so layered that every time you go back you’ll pick up something new. I love shows like that.
i haven’t been on tumblr on my computer in a long time but im gonna go through and add “read more”s to all of these recaps!
(thanks to anyone who read these nonsense recaps! if you enjoyed these...in addition to my currently-on-hiatus riverdale podcast @bodysuitsforbughead, I have another teen drama-centered podcast in the works, follow @LeftyTeenDrama on Twitter and @leftistteendrama on Instagram to get updates when it launches! I’m taking a break on working on it till i move but it’s gonna be a big part of my 2021 projects. I’ve already recorded one episode with two of my favorite people in the world and it’s gonna be amazing. It will be about a variety of teen dramas, but FNL will definitely be included.)
and without further ado, my final FNL ramblings under the cut:
And we open with one last montage of shots around Dillon from a car, with a “Christmas in Texas” song playing. Amazing.
Oh wow, I love the “FIVE DAYS TILL THE CHAMPIONSHIP” vibe. The build-up is already here. A shot of Julie in the stands watching practice!
It’s super uncomfortable that people are talking to Vince about his “future teammates” on the Panthers before the post-season is even over.  “I don’t really wanan talk about that. I want to talk about how the East Dillon Lions are gonna win State.” “Is that a promise?” These Texas sports journalists are WILD. this is a teenage boy whose school’s funding just got cut right before the biggest game of his life! Can we have some sympathy?!
“I hear they’re taking the cream of the crop for the Superteam so I’m gonna be honest with you, what are you gonna do?” EXCUSE ME SIR? I repeat, TEENAGE BOY. Tinker’s response of “you’re an asshole” and storming away was more than appropriate!!!
“No comment”ing his way out of there like a champ.
Ah, the age-old tradition of decorating a Christmas tree while arguing about a five-year football coach contract in Dillon or a dean of admissions job offer at a prestigious Philadelphia college. Julie’s just sitting there with Gracie like ooooh boy
“Here is where we put our tree, not Philadelphia! It’s a Texas tree.” OMG STOP IT. Lol Julie putting her hands over her ears.
YAY MATT SARACEN IS AT THE DOOOOORRRRR im so excited
Wow I did not expect this proposal to come that quickly into the episode! Like i knew it was coming in this episode but aw. They’re so soft! Just like, oh i’ve been thinking about you nonstop since our perfect Chicago tryst and oh look here’s grandma’s ring let me casually get down on one knee in the town where we fell in love. And after she was just talking about how much she misses Matt to Tyra the episode before? That “yes” she gave feels so certain because of it. Aw.
The grandma’s ring really fucks me up because you know how close Julie and Grandma Saracen have gotten over the years. My heart!
“Oh my God, your dad must’ve flipped.” “...What do you mean?” OH NO Eric Taylor is totally the type to care. “...When you asked him to marry me.” Oh I knew this proposal was too early in the episode, im dying!
“You need to go man to man.” Ugh Julie i liked Matt’s plan of just going and telling them much better. His look of fear when he repeats “man to man.” dead.
Wow no theme song??? That’s how you know it’s gonna be a long series finale!
Andddd here we are, a bickering Riggins “I may or may not be going to Alaska.” “Is it because you raw dogged Tyra last night?” i literally gasped.
LMAO Mindy trying to say Tim and Tyra are incest now that Mindy and Billy are married and then Tim and Billy immediately being like “nope, no blood lines, that’s not how incest works.” Someone should send that memo to all those anti bughead stans about bughead and falice
“What do you think about me taking Stevie for the day?” “I’m fine with that. There’s no going back, I’m going to get the bag.” LOL Mindy spoken like a true parent also YES to Tim and Stevie spending time together.
Poor Jess not realizing that asking Eric if she can follow him to the Panthers is a much bigger question than she thinks se’s asking.
AWW Tim and Stevie at Grandma Collette’s. How cute.
“Seven’s back in town?” “Yeah, he and Julie got engaged!”
Tim/Tyra and Matt/Julie double date?? Aw I love that Tyra knows that Matt and Julie got engaged. I really love Tyra and Julie’s friendship.
I’m laughing really hard at Matt’s speech to Eric trying to ask permission. This is so funny.
Eric’s like, “is this kid serious rn?”
Not to be that northern bitch but don’t kids get married at 18/19 all the fucking time in Texas?? I feel like it’s more common in even more rural parts of like...any state.
“The answer to your question is gonna be no today, it’s gonna be no tomorrow, and it’s gonna be no until the sun burns out.” LMAO wow i didn’t see this coming
“This was really just a courtesy, we were hoping for your blessing.” YES MATT.
OH BOY Eric did not just try to speak FOR his daughter, im not about it. “My daughter’s answer to you is ‘no.’” That’s some patriarchal shit right there.
“We’ll never know if we’re East Coast people if we don’t try it!” “We have a MUCH BIGGER problem.” Dude, it’s Matt Saracen, the softest boy who has loved your daughter for years, i actually think the fundamental decision of where you and Tami continue your future might be slightly more pressing.
“I don’t know why you’re yelling at me! I think we agree on this!” IM SCREAMINGGGG
Aw, Tami getting teary-eyed at Grandma Saracen’s ring. “It’s just, y’all are so young.” I know but this is a TV show universe so we let teen marriage slide for the right couples, ok.
Tami and Eric wanna take Matt and Julie to A CONVERSATION DINNER??? This is gonna be so funny.
Aw, Vince got his dad a ticket to state? “I want you to be there.” if this fucker doesn’t just come and shut his mouth
Oh wow Becky’s mom is finally coming back? And yay Becky’s finally over her Tim crush. “So friends?” “I say family.” AWWW MY HEART.
“You guys were our age when you got married.” ARE YOU SERIOUS? “It was a different time.” Y’all have no leg to stand on here.
“Marriage requires maturity.” Says the man who won’t let his wife take a huge job offer. What, who said that? (Okay the way Tami’s watching Eric give this speech about compromise, thinking she’s thinking the same thing.)
“You guys got married when you were my age, and how many times did you move? How many different things you’ve gone through and look how you’ve made it work. You guys are my inspiration.” AW. I wish my parents had a stable enough marriage to be able to say that LOL but nope.
OH NO poor Tami getting up from the table because she’s emotional! Because she’s clearly always thought of her marriage that way too but maybe not lately AH
Eric, babe, that’s your cue to follow.
Oh shit, Jess’s family is moving to Dallas? Well, damn.
Eric saw Vince not take a ticket for his dad and came to his watering hole to hand deliver it? “Young man gets a chance like that maybe once in a lifetime.” and mic drop, walk away.
Luke casuaklly meeting Becky’s mom for the first time while coming by to try to win Becky back. “I love you. I’m so sorry.” AWWW. growth!
YES cheers to Matt and Julie! “Here’s to Mr. and Mrs. Saracen.”
“Always thought you’d be the first person to say that.” AW
Yes halfway through college, go Tyra!
Awwww, Matt being like “let’s dance” and pulling Julie up. So cute. Yes, Tim asking Tyra to dance.
“I got plans.” “I don’t.” OMG is Tim saying he’ll just follow Tyra? Damn.
Why tf is Buddy calling Eric first thing in the morning to tell him about Buddy Jr.’s cast and “staying here el permanente” and GETTING HIM TO SIGN A CONTRACT BEFORE THE GAME? Y’all are shady as fuck!
I love that seeing the Braemore papers made him stop, tell Buddy off, and not make a decision in that moment. What’s gonna happen???
“I won’t be a part of your Superteam after all.” Hopefully Eric won’t be either! Aw Jess thanking him “for the greatest experience of his life.” “I think it’s been mine too.” AW.
Eric’s gonna give a coach in Dallas a good word for Jess? So beautiful. Yesss!
AW Julie and Matt decorating the Saracen Christmas tree, and Grandma trying to get Julie to wear her old wedding dress!
Emotional at this hug between Julie and Mrs. Saracen. “I love you.” “I love you too.”
Awww Vince finally being glad that Jess is part of the team...at the moment when it’s about to end.
Yess Tyra and Tim picnicking on the land?
And YES to Tyra going into politics, I could see it! “Along the lines of Mrs. T. Except bigger.” YES GURL.
“I’ve been in love with you since I was five years old.” AWWW that is so precious.
“I’m gonna build a house exactly where we’re sitting. I’m gonna get a job. And I’m never gonna do anything illegal for the rest of my life.” Oh, Tim. my heart!!!
“Maybe one day, our dreams can merge together.” THAT’S SO BEAUTIFUL. What more does one really want? Oh, these beautiful life-filled shots of them drinking beer on the land where Tim wants to build a house. Art!
Oh shit, Eric’s racing to get to Santa in time to be there with Tami and Gracie?! “You scared me half to death. What’s going on?”
“I turned the contract down. It’s your turn. I want to go to Philadelphia. Will you take me to Philadelphia with you, please?” YESSSSSSSSSSSSS what they deserve! What Tami deserves!!!! My heart!!!!
Ugh, the imagery as they get to State is amazing. The boys taking in the field, the players suited up praying and getting in the zone beforehand. The screaming in the stands waiting for them.
“You may never know how proud I am of you.” “You changed my life, coach.” AW.
Eric’s pre-game prayer overlaying the image of the Lions bursting out onto the field! Yes yes yes!
The way they slowed everything down with just music, and focused in on the faces of so many characters - Vince’s dad showing up, Eric and Tami saluting one another from stand to sideline, Becky cheering in the stands excitedly for Luke, Matt and Julie holding each other, Buddy on the sidelines screaming, Vince’s mom jumping up and down - just absolute perfection.
And we’re back in, with actual in-scene sound at 26-21 with 3 seconds left on the clock??? Jesus!
AH and every single character watching the football fly in the air, WOW the DRAMA.
Holy shit, they fast-forwarded to one of Eric’s players in Philly catching a football eight months later in Philly??? THIS SHOW IS SO GOOD. WOW.
Tami looks like such a badass strutting around campus!
YES Tinker is on the Panthers! Take that, bullying reporter!
Aw, the East Dillon Lions sign coming down. :( feels.
Nooo Luke don’t go to the military! Noooo I hate that. Poor Becky. They’re the exact type of couple who gets caught up in that really sad cycle - too poor to really have many other options, so the whole “free college when i get out!” thing starts to look really attractive. smh.
But i love how they used the championship ring he gave Becky as a way to signal that the East Dillon Lions did, indeed, win the state championship eight months earlier...and that Jess is wearing the ring on the sidelines of a new field where she’s working with the coaches! amazing!
Yay Matt and Julie live in Matt’s beautiful Chicago apartment? Perfection. They really look so good in that city together.
New beginnings in a new city together for both Tami and Eric AND Matt and Julie? I’m living! It’s what they deserve!
Tim and Billy building Tim’s house and drinking beers! “Texas forever.” “Texas forever.” MY HEART.
“Clear eyes, full hearts.” SILENCE. “Ah, we’ll deal with that later.” LOL
Yesss Tami coming out to meet Eric on the field!!!
“Ready to go home?” “Yeah, let’s go.”
And the lights go off on the field. End show. AMAZING. Truly, an epic series finale! An epic show! I will definitely rewatch and i am so glad i finally did! Thanks to anyone who gave a shit about my ramblings.
