First off HUGE thank you to @michaelbjordan for making sure Black journalists felt seen and heard every step of the way of the @creedmovie rollout — from the very first trailer press conference which was hosted by the incredible @kelleylcarter to the in-person 🙏🏽 junket interview opportunity to the premiere events. As a Black journalist I LOVE sharing these stories with my audience. As an empath and an artist I FEEL the passion and the pressure that the talent are faced with. I LOVE what I do and I think hard about what to ask. Having only four minutes with these two was PRESSURE but I thought the Creed III plot perfectly paralleled so many of the convos that were being had about these two stars as Black men - so I tried to ask a question that would offer an opportunity for them to address the very real boxes we as Black people keep putting each other in. My other favorite part about Creed was watching MBJ as a father onscreen, which also mirrored the way Jonathan Majors continues to speak about his daughter and his fatherhood experience while he’s been on these press tours. Let’s go out and support #CreedIII this weekend. Let’s continue to uplift our brothers. Yo!! I had the pleasure of being in a dope exhibition titled “THUG: An Exploration of Black Masculinity” presented by @thecltv. I have been working on the concept for this piece, “Our Apologies: Vol. 1”, for about a month or so. It’s centered around black men have to apologize for expressing very human emotions and wanting the space to exhibit that emotion without being labeled as weak or putting your life in danger. The process of developing this piece was so cathartic. I built it piece to be interactive so that the viewer can have their own unique experience the subject matter. Amazing work from everyone. Very proud of @noviartwork @rahn_marion @donlifted @fomoloop and @terrylynnartist for being such a amazing group of black men to make this exhibition come to life.
