No offense but why are ppl shipp namor and shuri?
First of all I love that you started this with "no offense" like you're speaking to a very outspoken Namor x Shuri shipper lmao
I haven't had the chance to look at any Wakanda Forever posts since I finished the movie, but I can't say I'm surprised that people ship them. They really did have a lot of chemistry when he was showing her around his kingdom, especially in that scene where he gave her his mother's bracelet, and there were a few minutes there where I did wonder if they'd have A Thing. The thing is, I think that's less a reflection of their relationship and more that Tenoch Huerta, Namor's actor, is just really good at connecting with other characters. I forget the exact scene, but there was a moment after he attacked Wakanda where I thought he and Queen Ramonda had the same kind of chemistry that he and Shuri had. I can definitely see the appeal, and I'm not overly concerned about the age gap because yes, Namor's actor is 41, but Namor himself is, like, 500 years old, and honestly when you have a character who's practically immortal, who gives a shit? I'm pretty ambivalent about the ship myself, but I definitely see why people like it.

Ok, so, anyone who is a Marvel fan, this ask contains SPOILERS for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever:
In the movie, there is a scene were Namor (the antagonist of the story) attacks Wakanda. Shuri (the princess of Wakanda) is in a her lab with one of the warriors, and her mother, the queen, is in the palace. The Queen calls Shuri and tells her about Namor, Shuri is like "ok, me and (warrior's name) are nearby, we can get there" and the queen, worried for Shuri who had just been rescued from a previous kidnapping, tells her "no, absolutely not, do not dare go there". Then Shuri is like "uh, what, uh can't hear you" (obviously feigning a bad signal). The Queen keeps trying to talk to her, but Shuri goes "can'thearyouloveyoubye!" and hangs the phone. Then, the warrior, astonished tells her: "you just hung up on the queen...." and Shuri goes "no, I hung up on my mom. It's different".
So, knowing all this, I can imagine a scenario were Detectives Sun and Moon, and the Vigilante are talking somewhere, then chief police Eclipse calls Moon and tells him about some kind of serious crime that is going down and that he is on his way. Then Moon goes "wait, we're closer, we'll go". I imagine that those three were involved in some kind of dangerous situation some days before, so Eclipse wants them safe and not to do anything stupid, so he goes "no, don't you fucking dare. Wait till I get there with the backups and we'll have a plan" But maybe this is one of the situations were time is crucial, so Moon does exactly what Shuri did and hangs up on Eclipse. Then, Vigilante with an amused and smug face goes "Ooh, you hung up on the police chief" and Moon goes "no, I hung up on my brother. It's different".
OH GOSH YES!
That fits the brothers so well (in the scenario they're all on good terms and not mob bosses lol). Little brothers rushing in without backup, much to Eclipse's chagrin? It's more likely than you think!

Spoiler free Black panther: Wakanda Forever review in one word:
Powerful
Spoiler riddled, incoherent and chaotic brain thoughts about the movie under the cut. Read at your own discretion:
Okay, my brain is still a big old jumble from seeing the movie so I'll try and organise this as best I can.
First of all, that post credit scene was not on my bingo card. Baby T'Challa was not expected but oh lord the audible gasp I let out in the middle of the cinema was loud. I'm so glad I went into this blind because I think that's one of the biggest "holy shit" moments I've ever had in a Marvel movie.
Second, that marvel logo scene at the start. Talk about poignant. Holy cow. The collection of scenes from his time in Marvel almost had me sobbing in front of strangers. The cinema was dead silent and it was honestly such a touching moment.
Adding to the not on my bingo card moments, we have the Queens death. So not what I saw coming. I can understand why it was necessary in terms of the plot but damn it did hurt (even if she kind sucked in the movie but I mean we all process grief in our own way so she is totally forgiven). Her UN moment was so fucking boss. The way that scene was cut together had me frothing. Ugh, love love love.
The end with Shuri burning the outfit and remembering her brother. The way it all kind of built up to that moment and again the silence was just a great piece of cinema. Kudos to the editors for that one.
I gotta say, the Black Panther movies really have a way of making me love the villians. It's the way you can understand their motives and why they are doing what they are doing. Like you know that they have taken it too far and are proving their point the wrong way but you can sympathise with their cause. I really cant wait to see Namor again (and him being gorgeous is just a bonus)
I love that the movie still kept some of its humour from the first one, its why I love this franchise so much. It is so impactful and has such deep messages and conveys meaning so well but it's also light-hearted and fun and just a joy to watch.
Seeing Val was great. I like how we keep getting snippets of her as it builds to the Thunderbolts. She's a complex one and sneaky as hell but damn she is smart and knows how to get what she wants. It was good to see Ross again, even if he was reduced to a bit of a pawn. Adding their marriage to things that were not on my bingo card as well.
Also, M'Baku. That's it really. He really is just a fantastic addition to the movie and I fucking love his character so damn much.
I think overall the movie was fantastic. Held up to the original and honestly, in my opinion it may have surpassed it. The pacing was good, the storyline complex enough to hold your interest but still easy to follow. It showed the characters in a new light and once again, grief was the real villain. It let the characters be human and process their emotions in ways that aren't always healthy. It felt true to life in that sense.
The visuals in this film were sublime, honestly, it felt like marvel at it's best. The score really added depth to the story telling and it just felt like a true cinema experience. I loved it from start to finish and I know it's going to become one of those films I watch over and over and find new things to love each time.
10/10 flawless. I can't recommend it enough. If you're a fan of the first film you should enjoy this one.

Alas Sony makes this unlikely as they are keeping spidey as separate as they can but it would be interesting if Peter Parker and Shuri were a thing and a battle couple as Spidey and Black Panther. I base this only on MCU Peter having a thing for black girls an both Liz and MJ were.
But they are both smart, snarky superheroes, (but then who isn’t in the mcu) I can see the teaming up and working together on Avengers really well. Plus coming from entirely different background of  poor working class kid vs literally royalty would be an interesting contrast in views.

The song playing when Namor is showing Shuri around Talokan is gorgeous. I fell in love with it immediately and have been listening to it on repeat. I decided to look up the lyrics and, yeah… well I’ll just leave the English translation here:
Con la Brisa
By Foudeqush & Ludwig Göransson
I will give my whole life
To get you out of the dark
I will break your sentence
In this collapsing world
Give me a little more time
I will give my last breath
To show you the whole sky
In the clouds with you I will lie down
[Chorus: Foudeqush]
And we snuck in with the breeze
And we sail with the wind
What beautiful intensity of your eyes
Burns hotter than fire and reflects in broken glass
I promise one day you'll open your eyes
[?] and now I have them redder than the sky offers
Between the shadows, my love
You are the brightest
How beautiful, how beautiful
That's why, my love
you remind me so much of it
How beautiful, how beautiful
We snuck in with the breeze
And we sail with the wind, oh, oh
And we snuck in with the breeze
And we sail with the wind, oh, oh

IF THAT ISN’T ONE OF THE MOST ROMANTIC SONGS I’VE EVER HEARD I DONT KNOW WHAT IS. You cannot tell me that that song choice for that particular scene between Shuri and Namor was not purposeful. 👀

I am confused though. WIll Shuri remain Black Panther or will they give that role to M’baku thanks to Shuri not going to her Black Panther ceremony coronation and M’baku challenging the throne? Is that also why they created a mini T’challa? So that T’challa lives on and he can become the Black Panther while M’baku rules? Sigh. I thought Shuri was going to be Black Panther in the meantime. It feels more authentic that way until little T’challa is all grown up. I am so confused. Unless the actress didn’t want to because of her last injury? Can someone explain?

A lot of y’all expected Wakanda Forever to be this action packed BOOM EXPLOSIONS!!! FIGHT SCENES GALORE!!!! MORE EXPLOSIONS!!! kind of movie and I would’ve thought with the tone of the two trailers and how the main theme of the movie is OBVIOUSLY grief that it would make you understand that that’s not the case. This movie was about dealing with loss, overcoming vengeance, and moving forward. Y’all want all that action shit? Go watch the first one.

Just got out of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. I need that gizmo from Men In Black to do it’s thing so I can watch it again, as if I’ve never seen it before in my life.
Also- M’Baku forever continues to cement himself as my favorite by being the most adorable.
The way his way his eyes lit up when he said, “The fish man” was so hilarious. Haha.
