Now look, I don’t have a problem with gay people. My cousin is a lesbian. And Dylan is a great roommate. Stays out of my way when we’re not gymming together, but is always down to hang when I need someone to talk to. I just wish he would be less in my face with all his gay shit. Rainbow flags everywhere, blasting Ariana Grande at all hours, constantly bringing new Grindr hookups back to the apartment but giving me side-eye when I ogle women. It’s just… too much for me.

Here’s the thing. I might actually be able to change that. I have this friend Evan, who I’ve wingmanned for on a few occasions over the past year. One night, when we were getting drunk together, he shared his secret with me. He has a magic gift. He clasped my hand and said “tomorrow, you will wake up and have this magic too.” And sure enough, the next day I could feel a tingle coursing through my veins, and I automatically had the knowledge of how to channel it.

Now I have the ability to change somebody’s future. I can’t fiddle with anything that’s innate or has already happened to them. Like, I can’t just make Dylan straight. But I can shape his future decisions or actions, and my magic will make alterations to speed the process along. Like if I made him decide to work out more, he would basically become a muscle beast within the week. Not that I’d do that. I still gotta be the alpha here. I just want to make him a little more… palatable. Someone cool to kick back with all the time, even if he sucks dick. Let’s see... I think I know what will work.

Sports are my LIFE. I never cared about them much growing up, but about a month ago I felt the urge to join my local queer volleyball team and never looked back. It became my everything. It’s been great exercise, but on top of playing volleyball and getting totally jacked off of it, I’ve loved the sense of camaraderie. I love my team. So much so that I even pierced my nipples on a dare when we lost the semifinals. My teammate River also recommended I stop dyeing my hair, and I think the look is really working for me. For some reason, even though it’s only been a month, my hair has grown out significantly since then. Was the red dye stunting its growth or something? Anyway. He says he’s excited to bro out while watching football together in the fall.

I love Tyler, but here’s the thing. Maybe I love him too much. I’ve always had this huge crush on him, and no matter how many random Grindr hookups I try to distract myself with, I just can’t stop hoping that one day he’ll give up women for good and decide he loves me. Especially now that we’re spending all this time together, bumping chests when our team wins and shit.

I know us getting together is never going to happen, but I have this… temptation. I was born with a gift. Or maybe I wasn’t. Yeah, I cut my hair shorter than the last time you saw me. The upkeep was just getting to be too much, y’know? A couple weeks ago, about the time I dumped that lame-ass volleyball team I was on, I just got bored with shaving every day, too. I invested in a trimmer and now I rock the stubble look, and it’s working for me. I’ve gained a bit of weight since then, and it’s all for the better because I joined my local football league. Having a few extra beers with my new buds afterward just adds to my potential as a linebacker, anyway.

I thought hanging out with more straight people would make me get used to their vibe and kinda inoculate me against Tyler, but I’m still totally obsessed with him. rating Star Stable Online

Star Stable Online is a MMORPG! its plot seems to get pretty wild!

upon discovering that Fish was an option in the drop down name creators, i cackled with joy. this is Rusty Fishfish and Futurefish

our goal in this world was to become Fish. one glorious leap into the ocean showed us that it would be harder than anticipated, due to having taken a ‘dangerous’ fall. luckily it doesn’t seem like horses can be injured, even though the screen flashes red if you trip while jumping.

i joined right after the new character models became available. i think they’re pretty neat! some of the body types looked androgynous to me, but the game calls you a girl regardless. but you can still buy facial hair in the shop!

the world is a nice size! it’s scaled small enough that you feel like you’re going places even when your horse is physically moving a little slow, and the world is big enough that there’s plenty to explore while still being small enough that you see other players going about their lives pretty frequently.

speaking of other players! shout out to @ro-sso for warning me to never open the global chat. i did! i asked how to get hay after very rapidly forgetting what i had just learned. three people told me it grew on a farm. i said Ok. when i did find the hay (in a shop) i told the chat i had been betrayed and bamboozled and they said “BAHAHAHAHAHA”. later i used the Say chat to ask for help finding a championship that was starting soon, and everyone nearby was very helpful. you win some you lose some

quests seem to be the biggest part of the game! they’re how you get player and horse exp and level up and get better stats for competing. a lot of the quests i did felt very tedious. lots of riding back and forth and delivering messages and so forth. the worst ones involved herding horses that kept splitting into smaller groups and running around a mall doing errands for a sketchy guy. my favorite quests were the ones where i got to open my backpack and drag a tool onto something, which felt like playing Nancy Drew. there was also one where we got to follow the visible smell of pumpkin pie on a trail to a little cottage, and it was nighttime so there were cricket sounds as well!

there’s so much love and soul packed into this world! there’s a pony who was elected mayor! there’s a pirate themed race that has music just similar enough to the Pirates of the Carribean music to remind you of it while also remaining distinct! there’s a riding club that “wears pink and not only on wednesdays.”! there’s a girl with a pet owl named Toby who says “Even though he blathers about it, Toby loves bugs.” there’s vague sounds of people talking in areas with lots of NPCs! there’s a kid with a hot air balloon who takes you up to the cloud kingdom! he has a pet frog who can ride on your head! there’s an emo electric violinist who was really funny! you can get a kitten for your saddlebag! the music is pretty decent!

the clothes very strongly remind me of being 12. something about the slightly awkward way the clothes fit is nostalgic. there were also lots of flower crowns for the summer solstice!

a huge point for this game is that it has its own pride festival!

there’s just something about going to a new place and seeing rainbow flags everywhere, especially after the horrors of horse isle 3. i hear this game also has canon lesbian characters! this does make it even funnier that all players are assigned Cowgirl at login

the one thing that really surprised me is that if you play without a membership, you are apparently trapped in a demo version, and the rest of the game is locked behind a paywall. this sprang up on me after i started running out of quests. the game told me to level up to unlock more main quests, but the only way to get player exp was to do quests, and i pretty much ran out. this concept is really foreign to me, since every game like this that i’ve played before, the membership made your life much easier and more posh, but free players could still get a lot out of the game. games like club penguin, pixie hollow, animal jam, etc. it’s only about $5 a month, though, with a permanent membership option for over 50 dollars. i have not purchased it, but if I ever do, i will update my rating. :)

while googling the above problem to figure out what was going on, i learned that there's no level cap and there's seasonal events that give EXP, so even if you've finished the whole game, there can still be players more powerful than you with better stats dominating the competition. that seems ! a little rough! they also said that after you beat the game, there's not much left to do. hopefully the fun part is the journey and not the destination!

all in all, though, we did it. we became Fish.

and that makes it all worth it.

She is a magic girl who transforms into Cure Chocolat and fights with the power of KIRAKIRARU, which is the essence of your positive feelings that make you and gets put in sweets to make them taste !extra! good! She's a SUPER COOL older girl (relative to her teammates and most other Cures) with bifauxnen swag and a need to princess carry everyone. She competes with a prince for the love of her teammate, Yukari (a macaron-themed catgirl). Her main drive in the series is how her heart is so big and full of love. Did I mention, chocolate sword?!!!! It's just unbeatable!

Lightfall quest is also really good. Seems to be something that will go on for a bit, I think, since the point was to get Golden Age files and we heard only one file. Osiris said there's more but that he needs time to decrypt them.

Files are Chioma Esi's logs! She is a voiced character now! Massive win for the lesbians. Osiris also directly mentions her having a wife, just in case there are people who wanted to be in denial until now.

But before that, really interesting dialogue between Nimbus and Osiris towards the end of the quest. I'll transcribe it and add a link to the video later when it gets uploaded by Destiny Lore Vault:

Nimbus: You know, ever since we defeated Calus, I've been wondering a lot more about the Veil. I think... I think we take it for granted. It's always been here. We always assumed that the Ishtar Collective brought it with them on the Exodus ship, but... Osiris: But now you question that assumption. Nimbus: Nezarec seemed to know something, didn't he? When we were inside the Vex network, he said something about... Savathun. Osiris: My memories cast shadows of Savathun's. Echoes of the time she and I were bound by her dark magic. The more time we spend here, the clearer the outline of those shadows become. The Ishtar Collective didn't bring the Veil here, Nimbus. Savathun stole it from the Witness and left it here... quite possibly for the Ishtar Collective to find. Nimbus: Why? Why would she do that? Isn't she our enemy? Osiris: She is. And yet, at times, she is our ally... when it is convenient to her, and in that convenience, we find common ground. Or as a friend once said, the line between Light and Dark... is very thin. Nimbus: [grunts] I kinda hate that. Osiris: As do I.

That's really good information and an interesting angle to understand the Veil situation better. First, Neomuni clearly don't even know how the Veil got there. They either assumed (as Nimbus said) that it was brought by the founders or perhaps the founders told everyone they did so, to keep the situation in control. It's easier to build a civilisation on this power if you tell people you brought that power here, rather than telling them that an alien entity placed it there during the time when alien entities were destroying the solar system.

But outside of that, ever since that time, people took it for granted, as Nimbus put it. They didn't really question it or wonder about it. The Veil is there, it's powering Neomuna, it was brought by the founders to make the civilisation, that's it. There's nothing really to wonder about for the average citizen. Not to say that they don't care about it, but they don't view it as something that has to be explained or pondered. As I've said before, the Veil to the Neomuni is a power source. They're not into it because of strange paracausal powers or whatever the hell is going on with it and the Witness. It's nice to see that reading was the intended one; to Neomuni, the Veil is a power source and one that is taken for granted aka isn't being actively researched. Meaning, they can't answer our questions about what the Veil is.

And now transcript of Chioma's first log (very VERY likely that more will be coming throughout the season, maybe on a weekly basis? They wouldn't voice her for one message is my main assurance). The log is accessed in the big room overlooking the Veil:

Chioma Esi, personal log: incidental. Maya arrived yesterday with the Exodus Indigo. I should be relieved, but... in light of the current situation, I... I don't feel much of anything. We're presently en route from Hyperion to the terraformed surface of Neptune. I'm scared. I'm so scared! We don't even know what we've lost. Comms are dead. It's just silence everywhere. We might be all that's left. Maya was right about everything. The cult, the end... how we'll survive. [sighs] I hate this.

Some interesting points right away! Hyperion has been long established as a place where Chioma Esi was working. This is also giving us the Exodus Indigo route: Maya was on the colony ship which made a stop at Hyperion to pick up Chioma (and possibly other people). Shortly after they left Hyperion, the events of Winterbite lore happened where the colony ship was attacked by an unknown entity which left Winterbite in the hull.

Another neat point is that Chioma mentioned that a part of Neptune's surface was already terraformed. This gives us some crucial details; Exodus Indigo was going to Neptune on purpose and didn't just have to land there as an emergency escape. Going there was deliberate which also makes sense given that previously an ECHO ship crashed on Neptune. This makes it's more likely that Maya knew about the ECHO ship crash and about Soteria's possible survival and that Exodus Indigo followed that trail deliberately. The mention of surface being terraformed already also means that the colony was well underway of being established following the ECHO ship crash. Neptune was being hard-prepared to fit a colony.

This also means that Exodus Indigo was most likely a very well known mission and that Neomuna was not originally planned as something secret. They only went dark after making an assumption that they may be the only ones who survived the Collapse, which Chioma mentions in this log! Comms went silent and they had no idea what was going on; if they wanted to ensure the survival of the human species, they had to also assume that they're the only ones left and hide.

Chioma also mentions that "Maya was right about everything." She specifically mentions "the cult" which is Future War Cult, founded by Maya in the Golden Age. FWC was investigating something called the Device, a Vex-tech based machine capable of predicting the future. The cult would eventually regain access to the Device and use it well into the present day for the same purpose. Chioma also mentions "the end" as she muses about Maya being right about everything. Strange and possibly concerning. What exactly did Maya see through the Device?

This is some wild stuff, especially to me now after I've made a really long post about some curious connections between the concept of the history and mind of the universe and how it tends to be adjacent to Vex predictive technology. I mentioned Maya, Future War Cult and the Device in this post as well, trying to see if there's anything worth connecting in an analysis. Chioma alluding to the cult again the first time we've ever heard her voiced is intriguing. I'm not sure if this is something that will continue to be explored and if these connections are important, but it definitely felt like an important point to add into this fairly short voice line that specifies about Maya having been right "about everything," "the cult" and "the end."

I'm really excited to see if we'll get more and I assume we will. Osiris was very direct about us having to protect these logs and that there's a lot of them, but that he will have to decrypt them first. If we genuinely get more logs, it will be an incredible treat to hear actual voices from the Golden Age and the Collapse, of people who founded Neomuna and their first encounters with the Veil and possibly their original research into it.

Do you think it was in character for Percy to give/make a gun for Mister? Even if Matt said he’d made toy ones for his kids, when you consider Taliesin saying he was content to never make a weapon again, what do you think? I mean unless, Matt talked it over with Taliesin, then… *shrug* I guess that works out.

Hi anon!

So, first of all - I have a lot of faith and trust in Matt to want his friends to be happy. They wanted to go go Whitestone to see their past PCs and the new de Rolos, so he went along with that. He's a good DM and facilitates telling the stories they want - and part of that would include having a good grasp on the characters.

He also likely had a good idea of a few things that might come up. I mean, we as a fandom certainly did: potentially seeing the quarter elves (Gwen included) and their ages, Percy and Vex's reactions to Delilah and Laudna, how Percy might be curious about an aeormaton... and, yeah, the gun angle was pretty obvious too!

I'm certain he either checked in with them on character sticking points, reread his notes for the Tal’Dorei Reborn campaign guide (I doubt what we got in the book is ALL he was given for the PCs) or reviewed important episodes (I noticed a lot of his behavior was similar to Percy's interactions with Syldor, his reaction to 'the Meatman'/Scanlan trying to get a gun from him, how he broke the news to Cass that Delilah was at a ziggurat). Probably some combination of all three!

And the difficulty lies in the fact these characters are *complicated* (said in the tone of Percy in the Search for Grog)! They don't have many hard, fast lines because they're all human (well, mortal) and their responses change with context. It's been thirty plus years - guns are everywhere, and ones so terrible he likely stays up at night fearing what they can do. A little toy gun - not even something he'd personally use, no improvement on existing designs - hardly means much at all in this modern Exandria. If Fearne had opened asking for a gun? Fuck no, goodbye, get out. If she had tried to steal one and Vex 'passive perception better than a dragon' 'ahlia saw? Likewise, big trouble. But Fearne just contributed to dealing another solid blow to Delilah. She proved she abd her friends could be trusted and were here out of genuine love for their friend. His kids are safe, his wife is safe, there’s a dead rat named after him. Sure, why not, tweaking a child's toy he made some time ago sounds reasonable right about now.

(Because he's not making a new gun from scratch - he's tweaking a pop gun intended for the use of his children. I'm sure Percy had enough sense to design them in ways to minimize the 'MOTHER, FATHER, WOLFE SHOT ME IN THE EYYYYEEE' 'FATHER HE SHOT ME IN THE BUTT ALL DAY IT WAS AN ACCIDENT BUT HE DESERVES IT' *general wailing from the younger two that the game dissolved into chaos*)

And, see, the thing is: Matt hasn't been afraid to say 'no, you're not getting this, it would be out of character' before! Travis (playing a Charisma caster and the Nein's face!) rolled a natural twenty to ask for Holy Avenger from Kima. On a meta level it would have been fitting and fun for him to have the sword, especially given Grog gave it to her in C1.

Kima scoffs at him! And gives the sword to Yasha instead, because lesbian wavelengths or something and it was *incredible*. Point being - if he/Tal thought it would be absolutely against Percy's wishes, he would have made that 21 a 'no, but he can do this for you instead'.

Also, Percy has a powerful 'little shit' instinct. He made a sodium teakettle bomb just to win a contest, and "if they have something nice that makes you feel inferior, we can just take it", and gave Grog a sword he knew was cursed. Though guns are a touchier subject, he's made these pop guns for his kids, added some to Doty and trained the Riflemen on how to make more and their ammo.

Frankly, I think the idea was too facinating and chaotic to pass up.

(And flaming monkey shit is likely far, far less dangerous than a bullet.)

Timothee stood there looking in the full length mirror pulling and straightening his black tie looking everywhere but his own reflection. He buttoned the sleeve of his white button down taking a step back from the mirror. The sound of kids running across the slightly cracked window made him turn his head, glancing out. He smiled seeing a little boy and girl dressed in nice clothes tagging one another, running, laughing. The warm breeze blows through the window filling the room with the smell of magnolias. He looked up and saw the entire backyard decorated with magnolias and roses, her favorite.

5 years old

“I’m never getting married, boys are gross!” She said, looking at Timothee who sat across from her.

“No boy would want to marry you anyway! You have girl germs!” Timothee pushes her shoulder and gets up running.

“Mommy! Timmy pushed me!

“Nu-uh!!!”

Timothee shook his head and cleared his throat as he slipped his shoes on. “Timmy, hurry up!” His dad, Marc shouted, poking his head in. “Shouldn't be too much longer till she is ready.”

“I’m ready.” Timothee answered, grabbing his jacket and sliding it on. “I’ll be out in a minute.” He told his dad, pausing for a second. When his dad walked away Timothee took a deep breath and grabbed a bottle of whiskey, unscrewing the cap and taking a big gulp. He grimaced and filled up a flask, sticking it in his jacket pocket before walking out, popping a mint in his mouth.

9 years old

“You’re it!”

“Tim, come here!” She whispered, taking his hand, running towards the bushes. ”Shh.” She told him as they hid behind the bush.

“Come on.” Timothee told her as they crawled to the trees. “Made it to base! We win!” Timothee yelled.

Timothee was pulled from his thoughts when his sister, Pauline, grabbed his arm. She was dressed in a bridesmaid's dress and rushing around as the maid of honor. “The bride is asking for you.” She smirks.

He walks into a room and sees her standing there in a simple silk white wedding gown. His chest tightens, mouth runs dry. “You look so beautiful.” He wraps his arms around her. “Why are you shaking?” He asks, pulling back, taking her hands into his.

“I’m so nervous!” She tells Timothee. “I know there aren't a lot of people here and it’s a small thing but still.” She takes another breath. “Am I supposed to be this nervous?”

“I don’t know, sweetheart. I’ve never gotten married.” Timothee told her with a soft smile.

“You know,” She brought her hands to his tie fixing his failed attempt to straighten it. “When you get married someday you have full permission to drag me through all the BS I dragged you through for mine.”

“Deal.” Timothee tells her as he watches her touch up her makeup.

15 years old.

“Have you had your first kiss yet?” Timothee asked her as they sat under the bleachers at school.

“Yeah, and it sucked.” She answered with a giggle. “You?”

“Yeah, and I sore I was gay after because I felt nothing.” He handed her half of the slim jim he had.

“I haven’t felt anything when I kissed either of the two guys I’ve kissed and I’m pretty sure I’m not a lesbian.”

“Maybe you didn't kiss the right boy.” Timothee offered, leaning on and elbow, matching her position.

“You think?” She saw Timothee’s eyes look from her eyes to her lips then back up again. “How would I know if he’s the right boy?”

His hand touched hers on the ground between them, their eyes not moving. “Tim, come on!” Another boy shouted.

“I gotta go!” Timothee told her, getting up.

“You’re ready, baby?” Her dad walks in. “Your grandpa is ready for you to make your way down the aisle.”

“Yeah, I’m gonna be right out, daddy.” She tells him, turning to Timothee.

“I’m gonna head out there and line up with the other groomsmen.” He tells her as she stands.

She takes his hands in hers. “I’m doing the right thing, right?” She asks. “I mean, I love him.”

“I’m sure you are. You’re just nervous. You’ve waited for this day for how long?” You both laugh.

“I remember making you practice my wedding in the hall of our apartment building.” She told him as he squeezed her hands, bringing them up to his lips.

“And now you’re doing the real thing.” He smiled as she pulled him into a hug before he walked out.

Timothee was with the rest of the wedding party but stayed to himself in the corner when his sister found him. He quickly shoved the flask into his jacket pocket then turned to her.

“You ready little bro?” Pauline asked as they lined up and waited for their turn to walk down the aisle.

Timothee walks into his apartment, going through the mail in his hands as he kicks the door shut with his foot. He pauses when he sees the larger rectangle envelope addressed from his best friend. He knew what this was, He took a deep breath before turning it over and opening it.

As he read the words on her wedding invitation, he felt his heart shatter in pieces as he fought back the tears.

He faked his smile walking down the aisle with his sister and held himself together. When the music changed, and he saw you standing at the end of the aisle in your dress with your dad by your side his heart dropped into his stomach. He’d been stoic till he saw her like this. Timothee had imagined this day before, but he wasn’t the one waiting for her at the altar.

He could feel the tears rising in his eyes as he fought them back. He watched as her dad gave her away. He smiled when her future husband took her hand. But a tear fell down his cheek as they began to speak their vows. Timothee knew in that moment this is what true heartbreak felt like. Her eyes went to Timothee’s as her grandpa spoke the traditional vows and he felt his heart break a little more.

“Repeat after me,” Her grandpa spoke. “I Y/N,”

“I Y/N,” She repeated.

“Take Jake,”

“Take Timothee,” She froze. “I mean-” Everyone was staring at her except the people that knew both she and Timothee. They were staring at him, and he was staring at her. “I’m sorry, Jake I can’t.” People started whispering in their seats as she dropped Jake’s hands.

Timothee walked towards her, and another groomsman grabbed his arm, but he just kept going. His feet didn’t stop till he was in front of her. She had tears in her eyes as their eyes met. He wanted to say so many things to her at that moment, but all he could think to do was take her face into his hands and kiss her.

4. Movie of the year?

Everything, Everywhere, All at Once, hands down. i'm not a big movie person honestly but i'm so glad i went and saw this w/ some friends. left a blubbering mess. i can definitely tell it's one of those movies i'll be watching over and over again ;w; also watched the fear street trilogy on netflix w/ my friend and really enjoyed those!!

9. Best month for you this year?

probably february! i had a pretty sturdy head on my shoulders and was feeling generally inspired (artistically, mentally, etc.) and stable having experienced the fleeting confidence that came with a diagnosis that i (at the time) thought was really fitting. it didn't last long but it was nice to feel confident for a while that i knew how to approach stuff moving forward. this year generally sucked but i wasn't so horribly burnt out for the beginning of it, so that was nice :'^)

19. What’re you excited about for next year?

having a game plan! i got diagnosed with ADHD in the later part of this year AND i addressed some of my career-related burnout issues with my boss (due to being severely overworked and underpaid, etc.) and visible changes are ACTUALLY being made. i feel like even though this year was objectively fucking awful, i spent a lot of time performing the very arduous task of laying a good foundation for not only next year, but the rest of my life lmao i was able to prioritize stuff and draw some hard boundaries with myself toward the end of the year and i hope to stick to them next year

20. What’s something you learned this year?

i think my answer for 19 suffices here, but in a more literal sense, i learned a lot of neat coding stuff for work! i'm MUCH better than where i was at the beginning of the year and i'm picking up stuff really quick ;w;

25. Did you create any characters (in games, art, or writing) this year? Describe one

MANY lmao, i got to make a little rock gremlin kid named ferris for our alolan pkmn ttrpg campaign (which we haven't played much of but i love ferris a BUNCH)

i also sat down and made like three new characters for my lesbian space catgirls story :^) ideally in a perfect world i would actually make this a little dating sim but for now it's just a word doc lmao. but in my head?? basically a dating sim with cute little tasks and dialogue options to win the favor of the romance-able characters.

i'm particularly fond of merrit, who is an anti-social basement-wizard merchant very passionate about her wares. her role is to just sell shit but you can also romance her by asking her to info-dump about her favorite featured items. she initially comes off as a kinda cold and aloof mysterious cool kid, but after you earn her trust you can see she's a huge fuckin dweeb. i cherish her deeply ghdlfjsk no snart that i wanna share yet tho i'm currently just rotating her in my head :^) she wears a cape with a hood and has SO many pockets
