Genshin Impact hcs for every nation pt.1

Mondstadt edition!

Info: OOC? Mentions of other characters, writing sucks, sorry if I get some lore wrong with some characters! Fyi, none of this is cannon besides the occasional lore mentions (also I am trying to clean out all of these hcs before fountaine comes out and I am SPRINTING)

Albedo: Since he's not a human, he didn't know how to react when he broke one of his bones. Thankfully, Sucrose was there to help him and took him back to Mondstadt to get his broken bone bandaged up. Jean demanded (intimidated) Albedo to rest until he was healed, safe to say he was not happy.

Amber: When she was a kid, she loved apples and even had a tree for apples. When she was hungry, she would climb up the tree and try to get as many as she could. Most of the time, she fell and got some sort of scar of her knee or elbow, but as she grew up, she got better and more agile.

Barbara: She visited Liyue once, and since she's an idol, she got a lot of praise there. The bad part was that some of the guys there were very creepy to her, but she formed a friendship with Yunjin and Xinyan, and they scared them away. Even Xiao since it's his job to protect people in Liyue! They formed an unlikely friendship, and they still write letters to each other (Xiao always asks if she's been doing okay).

Bennett: Bennett has a bunch of pressed four leaf clovers for bookmarks. He'll even go out of his way to search for new four leaf clovers just for luck, he doesn't really care if he gets hurt.

Diluc: Diluc actually has a very good singing voice and knows how to dance very well! But he doesn't sing or dance much since he's so busy, but he finds himself humming to a song that's playing on his record player.

Diona: She has claws but clips them often, but one prominent feature of hers is her nose having a line connected to her mouth, showing some more cat features of hers.

Eula: Whenever her terrible parents weren't looking, she would snatch some candy/sweets and hide them. She once got caught, but luckily, it was by her maid! And her being the wonderful maid she was (also knowing how rude her parents were) let Eula go on multiple occasions.

Fischl: She had a huge interest in string instruments and worked hard to practice with any of them she could find. To this day, she knows how to play a bunch (ex: bass, fiddle, viola, harp, ukulele, etc.)

Jean: She has a bunch of rare allergies, so she's very grateful not to be allergic to pollen, which is why she loves flowers so much.

Kaeya: When Kaeya was growing up in the Ragnvindr family, he learned some English through Diluc. In return, he taught Diluc how to speak some Khaenri'ah.

Klee: She has gotten in trouble so many times to the point where Jean has made a cardboard 'jail cell' for her.

Lisa: She cannot keep a plant alive for the life of her, due to her sleeping so much. On multiple occasions, she has woken up to a dead flower and has had to profusely apologize to Jean for letting her perfect, growing flowers die on her.

Mika: He is an absolute nerd when it comes to literature, so when Razor asks him to teach him some 'fancy words'. Mika was more than happy to help (some times he has to apologize when Razor gets confused when Mika starts spitting our larger words that Razor is still, very new too)

Mona: Unlike Lisa, Mona is a big plant mom, and if any of them were to die on her, then she would cry her heart out and make a funeral for it. She especially loves her Bonsai tree.

Noelle: Despite Noelle being very busy with becoming a knight and other work related info, she actually really likes learning about flower languages and all different kinds. Her favorites are roses, which is why she has so much of the on her outfit

Razor: Since Razor has been living with wolves for most of his life, he's developed a strong sense of smell. You give em a candle, he'll smell it and guess the correct answer in an instant without even looking what's scents are in the candle

Rosaria: Rosaria is secretly really good at sewing and can patch up anything! She's also tried crocheting but it didn't go well

Sucrose: Since Sucrose is an animal, she makes sure that her ears are in tip-top shape so they don't get infected or torn

Venti: Since Venti is an archon hiding as a bard, he took inspiration with a newspaper boy cap and Focalor's French like nation where they have something called a beret. Mixing them together and eventually making his hat! It was only till Zhongli explained that he could've just used a regular bard's hat and didn't need to go the extra mile

he finds you all curled up by the rock in the middle of wolvendom.

"[Y/N]! you never said you were coming to wo-- ...are you...?"

a little confused at first

definitely stops when he realises you're upset.

he leans down, placing a hand on your knee and using the other to gently pry your hands away from your head.

"... what happened?'

he's praying that he doesn't screw this up

once you explain it to him, he'll hug you, and give you a tiny kiss on the head (while blushing madly, of course)

he pulls back, "i have arguments with my dads too! when im upset... well, usually i would go hang out with razor or fischl, but i have you now! and... and you have me! and... i'm here for you."

his smile is literally blinding

"s--....so, if you want, you can come adventure with me for a bit! i'll find you some windwheel asters!"

takes you by the hand and goes on a journey to find flowers with you

he'll be telling jokes the whole time -- they all suck, and they're not really told very well, but they cheer you up anyway.

he tries his absolute best to make you feel better and forget about it

flowers, little fruits, funny shaped rocks, he'll show you any distraction he can

he'll try and make you food even if it turns out awful

will show you all his favourite cliffs and secret spots in mondstadt

will keep surprising you with little cheek kisses

and the whole time,

he doesn't let go of your hand.

small boi is a little shy when it comes to his luck. he doesn't want to hurt you so he sometimes tries to distance himself from you.

but you say bullsh*t because you don't mind. as long as you're both together, all is well.

gets really excited and happy when he finds actual treasure like he's been dreaming about.

much like his hangout, when you find a chest with actual goods in it, he can’t help but nearly cry from excitement, which made him think he was the luckiest boy in the world.

that was until he tripped on the way out.

but, he says to you with a smile, “hey! does matter. look what we found! i am so glad that we are friends, (Y/N).”

despite the newest graze on his knee, you had never seen a smile so big on his face.

food, mora? happy bennett!

You held the bag full of Mora and artefacts over your shoulder with both hands as you and Bennett walked back to Mondstadt. You noticed that he walked with a little skip in his step, and, surprisingly, he didn’t trip the whole way there.

Walking through the gates of Mondstadt and to the Adventurers Guild where you were going to claim your commission rewards, you ran into Razor. Who was looking for Bennett to begin with.

Once you claimed your rewards, you had to leave and do some other errands, which Bennett was Okay with, still with the biggest smile on his face.

Once you left, Razor noticed Bennett’s smile.

“Bennett... happy?” Razor asked as they both walked back out the gates of Mondstadt to stand by the wall on the bridge, not disturbing Timmy’s pigeons for once. Maybe it’s Bennett’s good luck shining through.

“Of course I am!” Bennett grinned, “remember (Y/N)? The super cool person who helps us on adventures when we’re in a bit of a pickle. They helped me find real treasure today! It was awesome.”

“Can.. Razor come on adventures with you two?” The shy wolf boy asked curiously.

“Of course!” Bennett nodded, “it’ll be the best adventure ever!” He said with his signature punching the air move, with no pebbles falling on his head this time.

I know bennetts bad luck is actually genuinely hazardous but like-- i cant see it as anything other than looney tunes hijinks and cartoon logic

Bennett is just a Real Actual Human Boy inflicted with Toon Logic and I am all here for it

Like my mans gets hut with lightning on the reg and he just brushes it off like bugs bunny getting crushed by two pianos, hes inflicted with the toon logic you cant tell me otherwise

Honestly, what really kind of hurts me personally about Bennett's situation is how accepting of it he is. He is aware of his luck and just accepts it and does his best to make the best of it.

Like Bennett's hangout ending, 'Fortunate Outcome' is just really quite sad. Because Bennett is like, "I don't mind getting hurt!" and takes the pain so we can unlock the treasure. But he totally is happy in the end Because for one he got a good treasure.

And honestly, he works so well as a character because he is so chipper despite his bad luck. And he's working to make the best of what he's got.

He's not my favorite, but I understand constantly being put down, but you still try to make the best of what you got. So It's why I like Diluc has a Mentor/dad figure to Bennett. Cause Diluc is a lot tougher and would defiantly protect Bennett as much as he could. It's also why I like Chongyun and Bennett cause Chongyun would also do his best to help Bennett.

So while I get how cartoonish his bad luck is. I still can't help but be super sympathetic to him.

Personally, in my opinion, I think Bennett is more of a platonic yandere. Like pretty much his whole life, he's been made fun of for being unlucky (don't worry bby. You're lucky in my eyes) and seeing you show him kindness makes him wanna be your friend forever and ever

I would add more but I hate this new Tumblr update. It keeps glitching whenever I'm answering an ask and it's so fucking annoying!

bennett fluff hcs

✦ hi yes these are some long-winded cute bennett hcs because i miss him. enjoy, x.

Let me start off with hugs, he loves hugs!! He almost ALWAYS asks if it’s okay first since he would rather die than make you uncomfy, but sometimes he cannot help himself. Say he got something more than a cabbage out of a chest? Jumping for joy he’s about to tackle you from excitement. While he may act awkward about it at first, once he gets comfortable he MELTS into hugs. They are very safe and secure hugs, like it is the last hug he will ever get in his life. He is also very warm so if you are chilly then problem solved with a bennett hug. He always smells like grass and outdoors in general but in a tolerable way. A comfortable way, because it’s him

Cuddling with him knocks him out so fast. He feels that he can let his guard down around you, he feels very safe. Being able to hold you like that makes him so very happy, and as mentioned above he is very warm!! Best feeling cuddles ever.

His kisses are very gentle and sweet. He would loveee kissing your cheeks and forehead. He rarely ever surprises you with him, as like I said he doesn’t want to make you uncomfy, but would love if you surprised him with them! His face goes brrr red. Easiest way to give him butterflies.

When you go on an adventure with him, your safety is always his top priority. If you find yourselves in a dangerous area, he always holds your hand through it as long as he is able to. While he likes when you accompany him, his bad luck stresses him out since he doesn’t want it to cause trouble for you on accident.

Many days, Bennett greets you in the mornings. He’d pretty much be the first thing you saw outside your home every single day. He always offers up some kind of breakfast if you hadn’t eaten yet, (although cooking isn’t his strong suit, you can at least appreciate the effort and it’s not too bad if you help out LOL), and goes with you on your daily routine as long as you permit it. (be honest, why would u not)

He always walks you home when it gets late too!! He wants to make sure you get home safe, and be able to leave you with good feelings before you go to sleep/relax for the day. :] He also silently hopes it is a night where you invite him to stay, as falling asleep with you is his favorite safe place.

He gets very warm and fuzzy whenever you reassure him. He could be having a day where he feels at his worst but your kind words always pick him back up. A lot of people don’t have a ton of faith in him, but as long as you do that’s all he needs <3 He always wants to be someone you can trust and depend on! (like his teapot line. get it teehee)

Roses Rambles

If Bennett met someone with REALLY good luck and they joined the Adventure Team, what would happen to Bennett? Would his bad luck now be neutral since the two forces would cancel each other out? Or would it just become a hysterical catastrophe? Bennett, being the kid he is, runs off with his new good luck charm when he hears about a supposed treasure nearby. The two spend the entire day searching for it but come up with nothing. Just as they give up, Bennett trips on a rock and falls down a hill, dragging the new member with him. Except, at the bottom of the hill is the long-lost treasure down in a hole they conveniently fell into! Good luck But now there's a big monster guarding the treasure; the two get ready to fight, terrified for their lives. Bad luck It turns out the monster looks scary, but it's really friendly! Good luck It's a never-ending cycle that just becomes pure chaos for everyone who interacts with the two

It doesn't matter what your gender is he will treat you like the princess you are. Tying your shoes, princess carries and comforting head pats, the moment he tells you that he loves you he will show how much he does. You are his everything, and with all he is doing these past few days its not hard to fall in love with him.

It is very clear and obvious how much he treats you differently, how he wipes the chocolate in your mouth and carries a spare each time you need one. It might take you just a few days to tell him how much you love him too.

It may be professional, unintentional or just some silly people trying their best but it made the message clear.

It doesn't really help his reputation for how dramatic he is willing to go, but you find it very endearing. You appreciate every single one and maybe, just maybe you are ready to confess how much you love him too.

Aether

Stunned does not even describe the entirety of it

He’s speechless and staring at you for a good five seconds before his brain starts to work again

“Wait, what was--” touches his lips to try and recall if that really happened or if he was trippin’

“Wait, hold on,” starts laughing at you and grabs at your wrist.

Proceeds to stare at you for another 5 seconds to process the information overload.

“Would you...wanna try that again?” with a loopy yet unsure grin

Albedo

Blinks once and leans back, away from you.

The surprised expression only crosses his face for a second.

He’s trying to logically piece together things and not jump to conclusions cause that’s just not him.

“...Did you, make a mistake?” When you shake your head no he grabs your hand and pulls you closer up against him.

You’d think he’d be more subtle but he might have been waiting for that for just as long as you were.

“Just making sure...before I experiment on your lips again,”

Alhaitham

has a blank look on his face. You can’t tell what he’s thinking (then again, you never can).

closes his book, leans forward to grab your hand and to pull you closer. He’s staring holes into you now.

“W-What?” You stutter, still feeling flustered by your own actions.

He makes you look at him by tilting your chin up, but gently, and his eyes narrow at you.

“...If you're against this, now's the time to speak up," as he leans closer just an inch from your lips, gauging your response, his breath hot on you.

But he doesn’t give you time to respond and gives you a kiss more passionate than you expected.

He got his answer when you kissed back.

Ayato

arm latches on around your waist before you can even pull back and turns the quick peck into a full kiss.

He doesn’t half-ass anything and is even bold enough to pepper kisses down your jaw.

You’re a little overwhelmed at his response, not expecting it to be this positive.

“Hm?” chuckles. “I’m only giving you what you asked for. One is hardly enough, no?”

Bennett

Has the “?!?!” expression

Simply half confused half shocked

Frozen in both fear and nervousness.

Cannot help but replay the kiss a thousand times in his head before he stutters out

“Y-Y-Y/N?!” and doesn’t even know what to say

Goes red

“T-T-That was a kiss, right?” You nod and he goes even redder if possible

Can’t comprehend it and straight up asks you why you did it. Your attempt at being obvious has failed.

It’s not that he doesn’t like you, he simply just can’t believe it.

Chongyun

just dies. pray for him.

A bit like Bennet but more of a “!!!!!!” reaction and immediately goes red without any prompting.

Has to turn away and calm himself though you can still see his red ears.

You ask him a moment later if he’s okay

“F-F-Fine! I’m...extremely pleased!” Then turns around when he realizes what he said and waves his hands to try and explain. “I-I mean, you don’t have to do it again! I’m just--”

Decides shutting up would be a better option and keeps his mouth closed while his eyes are tacked on to the ground.

Cyno

silently flustered. feels heat on his cheeks but just stares at you for a moment. Then turns away from you to gather his thoughts. The type of guy who looks tough but has “Y/N kissed me” running 800 times in his mind just to process it.

Coughs into his hand and clears his throat before turning back towards you. You’re starting to think you’re going to be rejected.

“Did you...Was that a mistake?” he just wants to be cautious.

You tell him it wasn’t and he feels embarrassed all over again.

This time just rubs his neck and looks at the ground before suggesting quietly “...We can try and make it longer next time,”

Dainsleif

At the first touch of your lips, not even 1 second in he recoils his head back and looks at you with eyes that are a fraction wider

It makes you think that he didn’t like it, since his averse reaction was so fast.

In reality he just doesn’t wanna cross a line that the two of you can’t undo but you take it the wrong way and apologize to him.

He snatches your wrist in a split second, “Don’t apologize. I just...” his eyes wander over to your lips and you see him gulp.

“I just want to make sure this is what you really want...” he says this while learning forward, just waiting for you to be the one to connect the two of you again.

Diluc

Does not even realize that the moment you lean in he ALSO leans forward and welcomes your lips.

Also does not realize that his hand has comfortably placed itself on your hip.

Kiss lasts longer than you intended and when the two of you finally pull back there’s astonishment in his eyes, but the good kind. The type where he’s taken aback by how good and right that felt.

He doesn’t withdraw his hand on your hip but he does cough into his hand and avert his eyes for a moment.

“...That was...rather unexpected...No, I’m not displeased at all...” he explains himself, gets the courage to finally look at you again and breathes out a question, his lips look more luscious than usual but so do yours, in his perspective “May I...once again?”

Gorou

Tail freezes, ears perk up.

His eyes don’t even close and he’s stunned, hand half up about to cover his lips but he seemed to have malfunctioned.

“Y-Y-Y-You can’t just--!!”

There’s so many random things running through his mind:

Did you eat dango for a snack? Cause your lips sure tasted sweet.

How are they so soft? Sure he’s stared at you a couple of times but he didn’t think your lips would be THAT soft.

How is he still alive? He feels as if he’s been sent to heaven already.

Snaps out of all his thoughts by shaking his head, tries to keep a straight face. “W-Warn me next time!”

but his tail is uncontrollably wagging.

Itto

Possibly the one with the most wide-eyed and dumbfounded reaction.

Speechless but savors the taste of your lips.

When he finally comprehends what happens (took you some hand waving in front of his face), he grabs you by the waist and pulls you in for another one. Head dipping confidently, no questions asked and just goes for it.

“W-Wow! Uh...I mean! Didn’t know you were such a good kisser! W-Well. Actually! I can’t really be sure, we gotta try that again and see!”

Eager and oh so ready. Like he found a new hobby.

Will pounce on you if he has the chance.

Kaeya

Sees it coming before it even happens and welcomes it. It’s like he was practicing for it his whole life.

Immediately has his hand pressed against the back of your head to deepen the kiss and lean closer to you.

It definitely lasts for longer than you thought it would.

He pulls back with a grin but doesn’t let you go.

His whisper sends shivers down your spine and he runs a finger under your chin to tip it up “You know this isn’t going to end with just one, right?”

Also the type that would pull you by the waist and he would fall back in bed while you topple on top of him.

Kaveh

Will have a dumbfounded/shocked/?!?!?!?!/wth expression on his face for a good 10 seconds before he starts functioning again. At which point you’re just about ready to turn around and run away from him.

“Wait! Where are you going?! You can’t just run away after that!”

You retort back that you don’t even know what else to do or say since he’s just gone silent.

“Well--I’m just--What do you expect me to say when you suddenly kiss me like that?!”

Is now covering his mouth but is also blushing and doesn’t know what to do.

“No! It’s not that I didn’t like it, I just...Does this mean what I think it means?”

You counter back with “Well what do you think it means?”

low key the two of you just go back and forth for a while cause you both are just too damn embarrassed about it.

Kazuha

It all seems so natural with this guy.

When he sees you coming in his hand rests on your cheek automatically and he receives the kiss gracefully.

The kiss doesn’t deepen, but you feel that he has urged you to lengthen it a little.

When the two of you pull apart it’s not a sudden jerk back, it’s a slow and only slight slide away.

He’s looking at you as if he’s seen the stars in the night sky for the very first time.

He doesn’t utter a word, but his look says it all and he dips down again for another kiss, just assuming that you’re alright with it.

Lyney

doesn’t let you pull away and makes the kiss longer. It’s like he was waiting for it to happen and was prepared.

Has a grin when he pulls back, one arm round your waist, unwilling to let you go.

“Hah, thought you had me there didn’t you?” winks and conjures up a rainbow rose from somewhere and presents it to you.

“Oh but my dear Y/N, I’m always one step ahead of you, remember that,” he teases and dips in to whisper in your ear.

“That’s how I know that you want another kiss, am I right?”

Neuvillette

Is frozen when you kiss him, and frozen for a second more when you pull away but quickly gains his composure back.

“Y/N...” he starts, as if trying to piece his words carefully. “I can only hope that you’re aware... I don’t offer affection to just anyone...”

There’s a brief silence and you tell him that you’re aware but he doesn’t seem to have processed your response and instead asks you another question.

“...Is it the same for you? Am I right to assume that this...kiss...isn’t because of just a sudden fleeting emotion...or a result of just impulse--”

You stop him midway and tell him it’s out of love.

He seems to again be frozen in thought, until he slowly bridges the gap between the two of you.

“...In that case perhaps we should try that again...I could taste more of nervousness than anything else, Y/N. Maybe a second time will seal it,”

Razor

Blinks. Processes. Blushes

Shy smile on his face but he’s a simple person who communicates better with actions so he kind of understands your intentions.

He moves forward to give you a quick peck on the cheek (that’s the only thing he’s brave enough for) as if returning the favor

then he turns around and pretends to be busy doing his own thing when in truth he has a flustered face on and is just trying to hide his giddiness from you.

Scaramouche

Grabs your wrists, both of them, and demands an answer. “The hell do you think you’re doing?”

He’s not scowling, but there’s a glare on his face and yet there’s a subtle shyness to it. Like you’ve offended him but he doesn’t want to show it.

“If you’re going to do that, you have to do it properly, you dumbass,”

Pulls on one of your wrists so that you’re nearly crashing towards him (just the way he likes it) and clumsily wraps his arms around you and kisses you.

He pretends he knows what he’s doing but has no idea and it’s probably also his first kiss.

Tartaglia

The one that chases after your lips with a laugh.

You kiss, you pull away, but his lips are following yours as you pull backward and it’s just so funny that the two of you can’t help but giggle.

But he always gets what he wants so he cups your face in his hands and gives you a proper kiss.

“Should’ve done it earlier, it’s hard just being your friend,” winks

Also one who will ask for another, and then another, and then another so you’ve gotta have your boundaries set, he’s so good at begging for more kisses too.

If he’s not satisfied and wants more, is also the type to trap you against a wall until you give him another.

Thoma

Has a gasp caught in his throat.

instinctively has his fingers on his lips

“Y/N was that...intentional?”

eyes wide in pleasant surprise and when you nod your head he breaks into a small charming laugh.

“I’m sorry, I made you wait. I’m a little embarrassed that you made the first move but...”

There’s a glow on his face and an unparalleled gentleness in his eyes when he brushes his thumb across your cheek.

“this time, let me do it,” as he leans in for a fireworks behind your eyes kiss.

Venti

Blinks. Is surprised only for a split second then laughs.

“Ahhh so that’s why you’re so jittery today!”

Would wrap his arms around your waist and pull you on his lap.

“No need to be nervous kitten, I’ve been waiting a while too. Come on, just one won’t do!”

Ridiculously giddy and doesn’t hide it. Like a child who has found a new candy store.

At some point he will remind you that you were the one who made the first move. It’ll probably be one of his most favourite stories to tell.

Xiao

You caught him by surprise.

He holds your hand but turns his head away to look at something else, trying to keep his blush covered.

You keep moving to the side he’s turned to only for him to swing his head the opposite direction when you do so, still trying to hide.

“Quit--Quit moving around! I just--” growls under his breath that you won’t let him have his moment in peace.

Suddenly grabs you to plant a clumsy kiss on your lips again.

Then becomes embarrassed all over again.

Xingqiu

Surprised, but kind of in a neutral way.

He’s always liked you and is comfortable with you so he’s delighted, but also outwardly calm about it.

“Hm...Shame. That was a little too quick,”

Inwardly he might be freaking out a little bit.

“I’m...not all that knowledgeable when it comes to these things. But I can assure you that I enjoyed it,”

Tugs at your hand to “hint” that he’d like to try again but probably will have a hard time conveying that he wants to try again using his words.

Zhongli

His lips part a little when it happens and he regains composure fairly quickly.

“Hm...” Will close his eyes to think about it but will also beckon you closer with an upward flick of his hand.

Takes your hand and kisses the back of it. It’s tender and patient and he looks up at you while he does so.

“There’s no hurry...I’m the type of person who...” trails his hand up your arm, to your shoulder and traces your jawline. “Likes to savour things...”

His voice has the ability to make you tremble with some sort of excitement. “Now then...Let’s try that again,”

Genshin men and how they fuck up their confessions to you.

Ft. Bennett, Venti, Xingqiu, Xiao, Itto, and Wanderer

Tags: Fem!Reader, Long-Hair!Reader(Xingqiu), crushes, pining, fluff, pg, bad things happen to good people. Note: This thread is mostly humor. I just really wanted to bully some characters. No beta. Pay no mind to me trying to edit my mistakes after this has been posted. (Repost!)

Bennett

Fatal Flaw: Honestly does nothing wrong, is just an unlucky dude.

There’s too many instances to count. The poor boy has really been trying to tell you his feelings for MONTHS.

In his excitement he wanted to be flashy and ask you out somewhere cool, like by the big tree in Windrise. The weather thankfully allowed it, but right as he was about to take your hand and confess, a swarm of crystal flies began swarming him. You didn’t know they could be so aggressive.

A restaurant! He could treat you to a meal and tell you there! When the two of you arrived at Good Hunter, it was unfortunately closed early for the day. Apparently all of the meat had suddenly gone bad…

You get the gist.... he’s been in this constant confession limbo for a while now. The more he wants it the worse it goes.

Bennett finally decided he didn’t need the bells and whistles. He cared about you a lot and he was going to confess to you if it was the last thing he did. And it damn well might be. With a new found determination, he ran out to do just that.

“Y/N!” Bennett called out when he spotted you by the Adventure’s Guild. He rushed to you, paying special attention to every stair step to keep from tripping. You turned around and smiled too sweetly when you caught sight of him. It made the boy’s heart thump in his chest. Were it not for his sudden tunnel vision, he may have noticed that cat running past him and not trip down the remaining flight of stairs.

The next time he opened his eyes, he found himself being carried up the familiar route to the cathedral. The adventurer’s face flushed bright red when he realized you were the one carrying him piggyback. It was embarrassing..... but it shamefully wasn’t the first time. Bennett sighed in defeat and simply leaned into your back. When felt his shift in weight, you glanced back to smile at him. You giggled at his clumsiness and it was like music to the boy’s ears. You told him how glad you were that he already regained consciousness this time.

The two of you began joke around like usual and talked the rest of the way there. Bennett took the small victories.

Venti

Fatal Flaw: Tries to impress you too hard.

He knew exactly where he was going to sing his love ballad about you. The sound of the wind as it blew off the hills of starsnatch cliff would be the perfect accompaniment. Maybe it would need some encouragement, but it was nothing he couldn’t accomplish.

Venti wanted the wine to be just right for the occasion too. You deserved nothing but the best. And how else would he be able to judge the quality.... if not just a teeny tiny taste test? He had to be thorough about this choice after all.

The bard usually had enough self control to limit himself to a glass or two, but he felt his nerves get to him a tad. Venti had the confidence that he could show you a beautiful night, but in the end it was your choice whether to accept his heartfelt gesture. The archon respected your freedom above all else.

They sure don’t call it liquid courage for nothing! Venti was brimming with confidence when he brought you to a picnic under a tree, overlooking the cecilias in full bloom. You were visibly in awe, and your reactions quickly inflated the bard’s ego to dangerous heights. “If you think that’s beautiful, watch this.”

A gust of wind flowed over the field, sweeping up all the fallen petals to dance in the air. It was unreal, magical, magnificent, splendid, it was…… buzzing? A thud fell between the two of you and effectively ended the romantic moment. It was a wasps nest.

“ABANDON SHIP!” Venti cried out, grabbing your hand and booking it downhill.

Xingqiu

Fatal Flaw: Hubris.

He really doesn’t like to toot his own horn. Maybe once in a while when it’s warranted. But he really out did himself. Xingqiu read plenty of books regarding the art of courting, and they guided the way to what was sure to be the most romantic confession possible.

The brilliance was in the simplicity of the plan. First he would begin with a gift. The two of you always met at the book store on your off-days. When he sees you wear your long hair in your usual up-do, he would offer the beautiful hair ornament he acquired. Maybe in your excitement, you would even allow him to affix it for you.

The boy’s stomach dropped when he saw you enter the bookstore. He stared while you looked around for him, turning your head left and right in an adorable manner. The movement accentuated your newest feature... a hair cut. “Y/N, over here.” Xingqiu called to you, his confidence was already wavering a little. You excitedly walked to meet up with him and offered a big grin.

Well all is not lost! This leads into his next step; Flattery! “Dear Y/N, you cut your hair. It looks-” “Ugh, don’t remind me.” You quickly cut him off, mood souring just a tad. You explain the tragic story of how you stupidly got a chunk of your hair caught in a lever. The only solution was to cut it clean off, the dramatic change was definitely still a sore topic.

Now the boy was breaking a sweat. He changed to a new tactic, to cheer you up. Xingqiu dropped the subject and prompted that you both look at the newest releases. It would help to take your mind off things and he was banking on the last step of his plan to pan out. It was his last hope.

The two of you settled on the docks and were eager to discuss the books you had just picked. Xingqiu had hidden a love poem into the latest book from your favorite author. He knew you couldn’t resist picking it up, so he stealthily slipped the note into the book you held. Xingqiu spend all night pouring his heart out just right onto the page, as if trying to convey every reason he should be by your side. He expressed his desperate want to be the one to protect and cherish you. Watching you now, talking about your day, left his brain dazed in admiration. It made him realize that all those little things before didn’t matter, as long as you knew how much he adored you in the end.

Finally, you pulled out your newest book to show Xingqiu. The distressed boy nearly fell off the dock. “T-the cover-” He stammered, quickly righting himself. You looked back at him concerned, and slowly explained that it was a limited edition cover. It was only available for the first hundred copies sold. When you saw there was still some in stock, you just had to snag one.

Why do novels make romance it sound so easy....

Xiao

Fatal Flaw: One track mind.

Xiao had been hyping himself up for this one moment for weeks! He nearly talks himself out of confessing every other minute. You may not even reciprocate, but for his sanity he couldn’t keep hiding how deeply he cares for you. The whole situation was so uncertain but the hammering in his chest was proof that he had to do this.

Its like a band-aid he just had to rip it off. To get it over with. Xiao had no idea how to approach it and resorted to redeeming a favor owed to him. He needed to know what he was getting into and have a battle plan. When he approached Ganyu for advice he concealed most of the details. If she was any the wiser who he was asking romantic advice for, she was kind enough to not to mention it and let him keep his pride.

Xiao glanced down at the single glaze lily in his hand. The irony was not lost on him. It was almost humorous, an adeptus making an offering to a mortal and asking for their blessing.

It was almost the time and he prepared as if going into war. You greeted him and sat casually on the balcony railing of Wangshu Inn. Xiao wasted no time with pleasantries and held out the glaze lily to you. “Please accept this.” He stated. The flower was rigidly extended to the full length of his arm. The fiery determination on his face was quite off-putting while offering such a delicate plant.

“Ah... I appreciate it Xiao, I really do, but I can’t.” You began to say, confusion steeping into your tone.

“I insist and I ask that you hear me out.” Xiao’s arm did moving an inch. It was the first thing Ganyu told him to do. He couldn’t abandon his path already.

“What is going on Xiao? I really can’t accept-” You try to explain.

“Please.” His eyes were downcast and the yaksha’s tone was the closest thing to a plea that you’ve ever heard it. You were a tad bewildered and felt as though there was no use trying to talk him down right now. Left with no other choice, you reluctantly took the glaze lily in your hand.

“Y/N I must tell you that I-” Thats as far as Xiao got before the coughing fit began. Your wracking coughs brought you to your knees. A wheeze is the only thing you could manage as you point to your bag. Xiao was alert and scrambling to make sense of what was happening. Your bag is brought to you in an instant and an arm wrapped around your waist to gently guide you to a chair.

It took twenty minutes to fully get your breathing under control. You declined is offer to go grab you help. You just knew Xiao would disappear as soon as it arrived. It was a small allergy attack and nothing too threatening, but you could tell the boy next to you was profusely beating himself up for it.

You never did find out why he was so insistent on you taking that flower. What a strange guy.

Itto

Fatal Flaw: All of the above.

The whole situation was more or less doomed from the start. Once his oblivious ass realized he was in love with you, it was over. The oni was going to confess to you so hard that people were going to be talking about it for YEARS!

It was an all hands on deck operation. Itto gathered the whole gang and then some. He was able to recruit the neighborhood kids to gather as many sakura pedals as they could carry. The boys were on staging duty, making sure the location was so romantic it could even make onikabuto stop fighting long enough fall in love. Itto even managed win a few fireworks off Yoimiya. (She brutally crushed him in a game of Genius Invokation TCG, and mercifully tossed a couple firecrackers his way as a consolation prize.) SCORE!

It was all coming together! All that was left was to distract you for just a little bit longer. That was a job so important that he could only entrust it to his competent second in command. Shinobu tried to convince Itto again and again that he didn’t need all this extra stuff. Pulling off something this complicated was only setting his expectations to an impossible height. Overall wouldn't it be better to be up front and earnest with you about how he felt? Her genuine, good advice promptly fell on deaf ears. Itto was far too busy trying to find which color would make his horns look even cooler in the light of all the fireflies they captured to release right when he said he loved you. Shinobu left this trainweck to to its thing and went to go find you.

She usually would’ve press the subject more, but she did genuinely enjoy your company. The Arataki Gang Deputy considered you a good influence on the boss and anything that could keep him out of trouble, the better.

At last, the time arrived to set all the gears into motion. Now Itto just had to wait for.... The realization hit him. He hadn't told you or Shinobu a time or place too meet today.

The bumbling oni spent a great deal of the afternoon searching for you like a lost puppy. “Yo! Y/N! Hey Hi! I gotta talk to you!” Itto yelled out across the road. He had finally managed to catch up to you two. The guy was ecstatic that things were looking up, plan was back on track! If he hurried now he could get you to the location the gang set up before sunset.

Itto excitedly told you that you HAD to see something. You were always amused by his antics, so of course you agreed. Without hesitation the oni all but dragged you out the door and towards the beach.

When you arrived.... oh crap.

Apparently, you need to get a “warrant” or something to set up the most romantic love confession of all time. Are they trying to say they own the beach or something? That's crazy now! The gang members were trying to explain themselves to the Tenryou Commission guards when you both walked in on the scene. Itto may have made things only a little tiny bit worse when he called the annoyed guard a “block head without a romantic bone in his body”, but no one was keeping score were they? Nonetheless, the whole altercation placed everyone on the scene in a Tenryo Commission cell... including you.

Shinobu was gonna be so pissed.

Wanderer

Fatal Flaw: Forgets he’s supposed to be confessing.

The whole situation was incredibly annoying anyway. You were the one who wouldn’t take the hint, why should he have to spell it out for you. It’s not like he even wanted these feelings. It was all happening without his permission. On top of that, you were dense enough to miss the point every single time he tried to explain it to you.

“Is something on my face?” You asked your newly reformed friend while putting down your book. He'd been boring holes into your skull for several minutes now.

“No? Why are you asking dumb questions?” He snapped. You noticed Wanderer had been doing that quite frequently recently. You sighed in defeat and began gathering your things.

“If you don’t have anything nice to say, I’m heading out.” You told him casually.

You were usually pretty patient with Wanderer, but he’d been in some sort of sour mood lately. Typically it took a few more irksome things before he would start his attitude, but you just couldn’t figure out whats been setting him off recently. You decided it was best to just let him calm down and try again later.

“Don’t.” Wanderer said snatched your hand roughly before you could get too far. “I didn’t mean it like that. I wasn’t calling you dumb.” He spoke without looking directly at you. You made no movement towards returning and his grip on your hand did not let up.

“And?” You prompted gently.

“Sorry. I’m sorry I said it.” He spat out, clearly annoyed.

You settled back down and asked him what's been bothering him. It’s clear that he was on edge and when you pointed it out his posture became rigid. He was a former Harbinger for fuck sake. Why was this so terrifying. He had been through hell and back without flinching, yet here you were just a person with a goofy laugh and weird interests. It shouldn’t be that hard.

“It’s your fault.” The boy accused, shooting you an annoyed glare. “These emotions aren’t exactly something that come with a manual.”

You blinked back at him in confusion and damn it now you looked cute.

“Stop looking at me! It’s weird.” Wanderer sneered, and immediately scolded himself for harsh it came out. You narrowed your eyes and pointed out that he was just staring at you just a few moments ago. Doesn't that make him weird too? “What? No! That was different. Fuck, you’re already missing the point. That’s why this is impossible with you!”

You were loosing your patience and told him he was being just as impossible. “Me? At least I'm trying to talk here. You make things so much harder. If you just didn’t look at me like I asked, this wouldn’t have been an issue.” The boy jabbed back at you.

The bickering went on for a while and concluded with both of you storming off in opposite directions. It wasn’t until Wanderer entered the second room over that he remembered what he was trying to say...... “Ugh, smooth.” He scowls.

CATEGORIZATIONS: gender neutral reader, physical touch (hugging, hand holding, mild kissing but not on the lips, etc,) sharing a bed, potential romantic undertones, unspecified nightmare, extremely brief violence (bennett hits you to wake you up lol). ARCHIVIST’S NOTES: you wake up from a nightmare. luckily, someone is there to comfort you.

after perhaps the fourth or fifth repetition of your name, your eyes snap open, and you stare blankly at albedo. he stares back, brows creased with concern. “can i touch you?” he whispers, barely audible. you manage a nod, and he very carefully takes your hand. you inhale slowly, trying to match the rhythm of his breathing. albedo handles you like glass, merely sitting beside you for a moment. he asks, “do you want to talk about it?” and you merely shake your head. “alright. i’m here for you.” you give him a small smile, and lift your interlocked hands to your lips, pressing a kiss to his knuckles. “i know,” you murmur.

in your defense, you were only acting accordingly. when someone slaps you in the face, even in the throes of a nightmare or the embrace of sleep, it’s only natural for you to respond in turn. so that’s how you wake up already mid-slap, bennett looking at you with wild eyes. you wrench your hand back as if it’s been burned, and bennett grins, apparently unconcerned by the fact that you were about to hit him. “sorry,” you say, more than a little alarmed. “are you okay?” bennett asks earnestly, taking both your hands in his. “do you need anything? water, warm milk, tea—”?” “no, bennett, i-i’m fine. just…” you squeeze his hands, offering a smile. “just you.”

it takes you a while to come to, but once you do, with heaving chest and pounding heart, you’re enveloped in a warm embrace. diluc is never the touchy-feely type, not like you are, but he makes exceptions. you swallow thickly, turning to look at him. his eyes are shut firmly, though the speed of his breathing indicates he’s very much awake. wrapped in his strong arms, it’s hard to remember what you were so scared of in the first place. with a soft exhale, your eyes drift off, and you let sleep take you once more.

you tear your eyes open with a shudder, the vestiges of your dream already fading like fog in the morning sun. you stare at the ceiling blankly, trying to gather your thoughts, and suddenly feel an ice-cold touch on the back of your neck. your whole body crumples in a flinch, and you grumble, “kaeya!” a soft laugh is the only reply you earn, an arm wrapping around your waist. “sorry,” he murmurs, not sounding even remotely so. “what were you dreaming about?” and oddly enough, you don’t even remember.

razor likes to sleep in piles, so it’s not alarming when you wake up to him all curled up, practically lying on your chest. you clear your throat, wriggling away from him if only so you can breathe, and razor barely seems to stir as he wraps an arm around you, holding you in place. you let out a sigh, wrapping an arm around him in turn. you can feel his heartbeat where your chests connect, steady and even. you listen to it for a moment, waiting for the pounding of yours to slow, and razor opens one eye to peer at you. when you look back, he closes it quickly, feigning sleep. you can’t help but smile and reach up to ruffle his hair, letting out a slow breath. you can’t even remember why you woke in the first place.

neither of you are strangers to nightmares. it’s a good day when neither of you has one, but a rare one. you’re unsurprised when you wake up covered in sweat, a dying scream pulling at your vocal chords. venti barely seems to have noticed, but the way that he’s wrapped around you like a cocoon indicates otherwise. you wince, rubbing your eyes wearily. “sorry,” you whisper, voice hoarse. “don’t be,” venti replies. you let out a slow breath, releasing all the air from your lungs, and listen to the sound of his heartbeat, and the soft hum of a long-forgotten hymn upon his lips.

Treats it like Minecraft. Farms the heck out of your island for materials, and makes his own little "base" that's bordered by fences. Has enough wood, rocks, iron nuggets, etc to supply him for a year.

Chaotic. Attacks you with a net, sends you purposely cringey notes with a smelly sea bass attached, dresses like a hot dog after telling him to dress nice for a picture, probably decorates his house like a demon summoning ritual.

Has sooo many bells... and from what?? He is your resident glucose father, always giving his bells to you to pay your debts. That 75,000 bell piano? It's yours. Really good with the Daisy Mae stonks, buys 100 turnips every time.

Alhaitham (asks you to catch a Coelacanth first), Ayato, Childe, Diluc, Kaeya

Broke. You’re the one with millions of bells. Takes so long for him to get out of the tent, and can't pay his home loans for days- but always has money for buying random things like a chair? Sometimes they have bells, but still ask you for some to annoy you. Also frequently gets scammed by Redd.

Bennett, Itto, Kaveh ("why does this feel oddly familiar..?"), Venti

Trash island. They are hoarders (honestly me). Your island's trees are still at the original random locations, along with weeds you have to pick every time, and some unknown "leaves" scattered everywhere. You say this is the reason Isabel gave your island a 2* rating but he denies it.

Bennett, Razor, Cyno, Itto, Venti

Clumsy. Always gets stung by wasps because he never takes out the net on time, falls for pitfall seed traps, and lots and lots of sea bass.

Bennett, Gorou, Itto, Kaveh

Treats it like Pokemon. Catches every single fish, bug and ocean species, completes the art gallery, every DIY. If you need something caught or made, he's your man.

Albedo, Bennett, Chongyun, Cyno, Freminet, Kazuha, Mika, Razor, Heizou, Thoma, Tighnari

Wholesome af. This one gifts you sweet letters with nice gifts, aw. Plants lots of flowers outside your houses. Always gives you things you need. Probably decorated a small little space your you two, and gives the villagers nice gifts too.

Ayato, Baizhu, Bennett, Freminet, Kaeya, Kaveh, Kazuha, Lyney, Mika, Thoma, Venti

Doesn't really play video games... but he knows you like it so he tries to understand it. He's like a tourist, following you around, occasionally getting sidetracked by random things such as villagers. He doesn't know about the mailing system (yet) so he drops off gifts for you in front of your house.

Alhaitham, Ayato, Baizhu, Diluc, Gorou, Kazuha, Mika, Razor, Thoma, Xiao, Zhongli

Villager drama enthusiast (but chaotic). You tell him about your island and the personalities of your villagers. He goes a step further by making up gossip like "_____ cannot be neighbours with _____ because he cheated on her with _____!"

Childe, Kaeya, Kaveh, Lyney, Heizou, Venti, Xingqiu

The artist. Takes Animal Crossing very seriously. Has only the best clothes and furniture, sometimes making his own custom designs. Terraformed and decorated your island to a T, and takes cute pictures with you in the museum's aquarium, fireworks festival, etc.

Kaveh, Kaeya, Kazuha, Lyney, Venti

The competitive one. Originally he thought Animal Crossing was just a cutesy game. Once you introduce him to it, it doesn't take long for him to complain about Tom Nook being a capitalist and struggling to pay his loans and complete the museum. You offer to help but he insists on doing it himself.
