The lowest-placing entrant in each Round 0 poll will be eliminated, as will the second-lowest-placing entrant with the overall lowest percentage.
Reasons each character is the best are under the cut!
Kanan Jarrus: "Jedi Knight, survived order 66, finds and trains Ezra Bridger, resident dad of the Ghost crew, kind, brave, goes blind to save Ezra, dies to save Hera and the others"
Marcia Overstrand: "Saves the protagonist’s life and sees potential in him and offers him an apprenticeship and a home when he’s just Some Random Kid. Her found family mentor/apprentice relationship with protagonist is one of the most important relationships of the series. Prickly but Cares A Lot underneath. Insists on wearing ridiculous shoes all the time. I love her."
Maxwell: "i just think he's neat. he cares about his students so much and is so willing to drop everything and throw hands with the magical government over them at all times. he's very gentle but a bit mischievous too"
Milligan: "Consider: flung himself off not one but TWO very high places (cliff and building) in service of the kids he protects. Also a great dad and a clever and funky man overall."
Minerva Mcgonagall: "Harry Potter"Only competent teacher there, girlboss, actually helps Harry, stands up to Umbridge, girlboss, turns into a cat"
Mr. McFeely:He delivers mail speedily but is also always willing to stop and talk about things that are important and/or interesting"
Mr. Terupt: "Best teacher, 10/10, Would recommend"
Niyx Raedon: He was a secret mentor figure to the main character who he was soul-bound to and protected through space and time. He died taking a fatal wound instead of the protagonist. The banter and interactions between him and the main character were the best."

everybody is always talking about gateway drugs, but what about gateway books. gateway movies. gateway tv shows. the media you were so obsessed with in middle school you decided to google, and suddenly you were on fanfiction.net and now you’re chronically on ao3. what about those, huh?

i think that the mom IMMEDIATELY asking dw why she wants to freeze a snowball is the funniest shit like. she knew better than to just say yes to her daughter who loves tormenting her older brother wanting to freeze something that can later be thrown at him

So I saw you mentioned on that hyperspecific poll that you love middle school novels. First of all, SAME. Second of all, have you ever read anything by Gary D. Schmidt? Third of all, do you have any middle school novels you would recommend? I'm looking to spend more time reading and less time on my phone!
YES!!! SOMEONE WHO SHARES MY LOVE FOR MIDDLE GRADE NOVELS YES!!!
He sounds very familiar, but I don’t think so! Are there any books of his that you recommend?
Ohhhhh yes >:)
Waggit’s Tale by Peter Howe
These books made up so much of my childhood 😭
I haven’t actually reread them in years, but I remember them being so darn good… and also filled with Many Emotions.
Out Of My Mind by Sharon Draper
So darn good like oh my gosh-
It just feels so real and personal and it was also very insightful!
Because of Mr Terupt by Rob Buyea
Aaaaaaaaah yes <3 The multiple POVs work really well here!! Very good series!
Jake and Lily by Jerry Spinelli
Super fun, really unique, very immersive. One of the few stories that I’ve ever reread!
Survivors by Erin Hunter
I could never really get myself into Warriors, but I absolutely love Survivors! I think it’s a really cool series—I just love the characters, and the story gets especially good in the second series!
Revenge of The Flower Girls by Jennifer Ziegler
I really need to reread this again 😭
This. Hekkin. Series. The title makes it sound cheesy but I promise you it’s not. In fact, it’s one of my favorite books/series!
Starfire by Jennifer Alvarez
THE GUARDIAN HERD MY BELOVED
These books shaped me when I was 11-12, I think. Amazing series. So darn good.
They’re also pretty much the only audiobooks I’ve ever voluntarily listened to! The narrator is freaking awesome!!
How To Speak Dolphin by Ginny Rorby
YES <3
I haven’t read this one in years, so it might not be as good as I remember… but I remember it being very good XD

Her royal highness by rachel hawkins, ya romance
They both die in the end/the first to die in the end by Adam silvera, ya romance
The pirate captains daughter by Eve bunting, ya pirate book with a side of very cute romance(I hope you can find it, I legit I now clue how i got a copy or where to find one)
Because of Mr terupt & series by rob buyea, youth fiction, a personal favorite of mine, dives into some pretty deep topics for a youth novel
The city of ember & series by Jeanne DuPrau, somewhere between youth a ya dystopian novel another personal fav of mine
The seven husbands of Evelyn hugo by taylor Jenkins reid, romance-ish one or two kinda spicy scenes, but not enought that I wouldn't recomend it to like my grandma
One of us is lying/next by Karen McManus, ya mystery series, some queer rep, side dish of romance, and a twist ending of both of the book
Shattering glass by Gail giles, ya mystery, dude this book fucked me up, the suspence keeps building and the end is holy shit, DO NOT read unless you have something really feel good to read after, but it is incredibly well written
All for the game trilogy by nora sakavic, i believe it's self published, sports mafia gay, nearly every trigger known to man(be careful) great fandom
And really anything louis Lowry

BOOK REVIEW: BECAUSE OF MR. TERUPT
Because of Mr Terupt by Rob Buyea Children's book/ realistic fiction Number of pages: 290 Rating 5  - Amazing - one of the best books I’ve read  Reviewed by JJM
Before I begin reviewing, my affection for this book is blinded by nostalgia, and looking back I only have the fondest memories of it. Because of Mr. Terupt is a children’s book about a new teacher, Mr. Terupt who causes astonishing changes in his students behavior and personality. The book for the first half is an examination of the characters changing from Mr. Terupts new learning styles/ care for his pupils.
As my first chapter book, Because of Mr. Terupt, is a book that me and my older brother hold close to our heart. When I read it back in elementary school I loved all of the characters, excluding a few who were designed as antagonists like Alexia. However, one character, Luke, was a character whose chapters I always found boring. As to me now and back then, it always seemed like he was just a simple stock character whose main purposes were to accelerate the plot. In fact, the two largest scenes in the book were either caused by Luke or explained from Luke angle’s, which to me suggests the author needed a character for events to unload on. Other than this drawback, the other characters, especially Jeffry, Jessica and Anna are written excellently and are relatable. In fact a probable unconscious reason for why I love this book may be because both me and the character Jessica were kids going through a divorce. To add on, but the heartwarming shift for Jeffry was remarkable and the author not directly stating why he was an outcast also made me like the book.
Some problems of the book should be noted, as it's a late elementary school read, the settings and descriptions are not always the finest. Additionally, the lack of vivid words may force some older readers away, nonetheless this is a fantastic and generally upbeat book compared to many of the others I reviewed.

my toxic trait is sitting down to write fanfic but then remembering the last time i wrote any actual fics was over 6 years ago and they were a “because of mr terupt” gone au, and a self insert once upon a time fic where everyone was aged down. im barely able to write a single word, because i get so embarrassed of my past attempts LMAO...
