Okay but like. Two things about the volume 8 statue [redacted] chapter.
Firstly. By god no amount of "yeah it was unhinged" comments on this website prepared me for whatever the fuck that was. I need at least 5 business days to process.
Second, was I the only one who read that scene as:
Hua Cheng, teeming with self-satisfaction to see Mu Qing near writhing with scorned disgust and fury: this was a 100% successful trip
Xie Lian: our statues are fucking in Mu Qing's palace oh god oh fuck what do you m e a n successful
Hua Cheng, smirk getting even bigger: this was a 100% successful trip

Fundamentally, a lot of self-described "progressives," "liberals," "leftists" &c. believe that white supremacy and fascism and Naziism are icky scary ideas to be disavowed or vaguely countered (largely by pointing out logical inconsistencies in those ideas). They don't understand or believe that white supremacists are actual people with whom they could potentially be interacting online or in-person. They don't recognise white supremacist dog whistles, they don't recognise baseline obvious white supremacist rhetoric, they will see someone online spouting obvious white supremacist rhetoric and believe that said person is joking or being sarcastic.
Their idea of progressivism is inherently social—our social circle of the educated anti-racist élite are obviously against that sort of thing. The logical inverse also seems to apply—if someone is socially interacting with them, that person (by virtue of that social interaction) must belong to said circle of the educated anti-racist progressive élite. Their social circle is their politics. They have no understanding of fascism as anything dangerous, anything real, anything that must be seriously intellectually or physically countered. Probably this applies to a lot of self-identified "communists" too.

It sucks to be isolated from the whole society from childhood almost all my life because of my parents and mental disorders, because I never learned how to integrate into modern society. And at any of my enthusiastic reactions or memories of an enthusiastic reaction from childhood, everyone starts laughing, because these things are something that has always been commonplace for them.

buddie would be the most domestic, adorable, seems-like-theyre -already-married, couple ever.
we know this.
but i also want buck being treated well by people he hasnt known for a long time and hasnt had time to build a relationship with yknow?
he'd expect to be treated well by eddie because theyve been best friends (and coparents) for years
but hes always made himself smaller in every other relationship, and waited for them to leave him, never felt secure or even particularly cared for, because he never feels good enough.
what im saying is, is that i need tommy to sweep this man off his feet, cuddle him, take him on nice dates, make him laugh and show him what its like to be cared for and cherished because he deserves it, and because he is Enough, and just show him what a relationship should be because i dont think he knows dlrhsirjfieidi

I figured an allay fairy godmothering itself into a guy was the kind of fun magical nonsense explanation Hermitcraft tends to go for! They won’t deliver things for you but they DO love cookies
(thanks for the excuse to post sona, @ink-ghoul!)

I don’t think I will ever get over how the Batman Beyond Rebirth series treated/used Matt McGinnis during its run. Ever.
Cause one of the main reasons I dove into reading the rebirth series was to read about how Matt became Robin and what his time was like. And having read and finishing the entire run like a year ago it STILL upsets me how they set him up to be Robin, stressing that he is essential to Terry’s batman and to his success, only to rip it away ten issues later b/c “they didn’t want to bring in another child into the mission”.
Acting as if they hadn’t dragged Matt through the ordeal of being sidelined to helplessly watch losing his brother MULTIPLE times both before and after he was Robin. Like what was the whole point of that set up if they were just gonna rip it away?? Explain it to me, b/c I can’t find a damn reason.

I think I'm gonna come out to my family this weekend because frankly I just can't wait anymore and yes this might. irreparably destroy my relationship with my mother but it's ok. I pre-grieved so essentially I'll be unharmed

idk if this is a controversial take or not, but like, if something is a lesser known hike or spot in nature where not a lot of people go, and you know about it and decide to share it on social media. don’t do that.
I’ve seen hikes I went on as a kid that used to be gorgeous natural places be ruined by this. there’s a literal metal staircase on a hike that I went on as a child now. I used to want to go again, I don’t anymore.
I get that a lot of people want to see beautiful things, but there are so many beautiful things that are already well known. there’s a process to this. if you fall in love with these kinds of things, you’ll get there eventually. but it doesn’t need to be advertised. it ruins the beauty and uniqueness of the place.

it's almost like the only option is dividing things further black and white then just going hardcore to an extreme.
like.
i spent all day yesterday cutting off friends and blogs of people i love in my native community because of the excessive call for violence as the answer to decolonization, maintaining nuance but only for one side and saying fuck all to everything and everyone else.
but then today.
the number of jewish friends and blogs i've had to unfollow because people are doubling down on "hamas bombed a fucking hospital" when there's clear evidence that isn't true and it's propaganda to perpetuate cycles of violence?
fucking horrifying.
