i'm like majorly in a non-fiction mood rn. i had a couple month period post-January where i was only reading fiction but now i'm kinda back in the boat for non-fiction.

currently reading The Lost City of Z by David Grann and really liking it so far, i was very impressed by Killers of the Flower Moon and i love his writing so having fun with this one, and before then i'd just finished Strong Passions by Barbra Weisberg which was crazy and interesting. i also read Invention of Prehistory by Geroulanos a few weeks ago and i REALLY liked it. i have quite a few good non-fiction books to read as of current-- idk what i'll read next, i still have Grann's The Wager, i have Wide Wide Sea by Hampton Sides which just came out, i have this book about the history of Americans and how we treat animals, i pre-ordered Demon of Unrest by Larson which comes out in a few days ...

that's just counting the more recent books, i still have a fuck ton of older non-fiction books i haven't read yet lol

when he gets cancelled all his former friends and colleagues come out with their own videos like "my experience with Custer" "George Armstrong Custer is worse than you think" like you see an hour long expose from Wesley Merritt featuring Ulysses S. Grant or something and Custer deflects by throwing the few people who stood by him (like Sheridan) under the bus and then they all decide to retweet his callout too and then Custer tries to get back in everyone's good graces by helping spread a callout for Grant and blatantly makes up a bunch of accusations to make him seem worse and even though it gets debunked by Grant and his friends by then Custer has already bounced back like nothing happened and he just moves on like he didn't burn every bridge he had

Not to make it obvious that I’ve thought about this before but George Armstrong Custer would be a social media addict who constantly does numbers and got famous from prank videos that are actually super fucked up but because he’s funny and charismatic and because he's friends with a bunch of way bigger creators for some reason (and eventually loses all of them because he talks shit about all of them behind their backs the second it benefits him) he has a sizable audience and then eventually you find out he’s like super fucking racist and he gets cancelled on Twitter and he uses it to get onto Fox News and Daily Wire and start grifting money from conservatives and then spends the rest of his days as a has-been right wing grifter that gets retweeted by Elon Musk and bots on Twitter and constantly flexes how rich he is despite being tens of thousands of dollars in debt because he has a gambling addiction from those online slot sites and because he keeps dumping his and Libby’s life savings into crypto and NFT schemes and he pretends like he doesn’t care that he gets clowned on and ratio’d constantly and spams laugh-cry emojis when people criticize him while Libby has to calm him down because he’s legitimately enraged when people make fun of him and then he dies during a prank and no one feels bad for him
