A small lore drop about Giants

When we say "a giant" we simply think of large human" but, similar to how "Dragons" are a class system in Lore with an abundance of various kinds, the same goes for the word "Giant". They don't always look human and sometimes can be a completely different creature, like a fox or even a squirrel. This is super important to remember as I use the word giant going forward as some that I discuss have the appearance of mythical beasts and not humans.

ANYWAYS There are three main categories: Ancient, Gigantic (or just giant), and Tall.

Ancient giants used to roam Lore back when there was more space and the Sun and Moon had just split the planet from Earth. However, their massive size took up too much space and with each step threatening to crush literal kingdoms under just one foot, the Celestial Gods resorted to sending many into an eternal slumber where they dream and simply roam Lore in spirit. They are unbelievably huge, to the point some are the foundations of countries. Many have become mountain ranges. Appearance wise, when they were awake, they looked like walking landscapes. Nature coated their bodies with earth instead of flesh and leaves instead of hair (or whatever mix and match-up of nature).

There are stories and myths shared where it's believed these slumbering giants will one day wake up and roam Lore again but these are simply just stories. You can count on one hand how many Ancient giants are still active and roaming about, deep within the core of Lore itself. The lifespan of an Ancient giant is unknown but it's common to come across an offering spot seemingly in the middle of no where in tribute of the Ancient slumbering underneath or nearby.

Gigantic giants are much smaller than Ancient ones but much larger than Tall ones. They, just like the Ancients, used to roam Lore. But once again, the large amount of smaller inhabitants that the Celestial Gods had created to populate the planet led to things becoming cramped. And adding into the mix the fact some giants had taken to enjoying the taste of human, it became important to give them their own land free of conflict. This is where the sky domain came into play. A land above to mirror the land below, everything is much larger than its equivalent.

Magic helps to create a boundary so the regular resident cannot reach this sky domain unless they use the right tools and vice versa. That's not to say every Gigantic giant dwells in the sky as some, mostly the more friendly ones, reside in locations down below alongside humans.

As mentioned before, some Gigantic giants took a liking to eating humans or simply wrecking havoc on smaller Lore residents in the past (and some continue into the present). Their increased aggression also causes them to become more likely to lash out at their fellow giants, resulting in some cannibalizing the other (a horrifying site to stumble across if you are a normal sized Lore citizen). This behavior is frowned upon in Gigantic society. It's harshly punished, especially from the gods who have damned those who practice this habit, resulting in monstrous side effects. These are more noticeable in the more humanoid giants, whose human appearance become twisted and their teeth become more sharp and pronounced. This curse aids as a warning to others to steer clear of giant monsters and to punish those who dare harm their fellow Lore dweller.

These bloodthirsty Giants are always the ones I am talking about when discussing Giant Slayers, who took on the most monstrous giants of every shape, size, and beast.

Tall giants (also known as Tall Fellows) are a kind of giant that is a more recent development...or more recent than Ancients and Gigantics. This is because they are the results of a Gigantic and an "average" sized Lore resident. Due to this, they are smaller than a Giant but larger than an average sized resident. Specifically, large enough to often pass as simply being extremely tall. Tall Fellows have a similar lifespan to a human and are all found in human civilizations due to their smaller giant size making living among smaller residents less of a hassle as they are still shadowed by Gigantics.

Shadow jumped when the pot he was hiding behind was lifted up. His eyes darted around, he needed to find a spot to hide and fast, but there wasn’t anything around him! He just hoped that the giant wouldn’t spot—

“Uh…”

Slowly, Shadow tilted his head up, and saw the giant staring at him. He froze. Eyes locked directly into the giant’s ginormous green irises. They shared a long similar look of shock, but obviously the giant didn’t share Shadow’s fear and horror. Shadow could only silently pray that the giant would just walk away, pretend he wasn’t here.

The giant darted his eyes away for just a second before locking them back onto the tiny black hedgehog that was standing on his table. He had an odd look of confusion, a look that also made Shadow confused.

Crystal has kinda wacky blood circulation due to her artificial heart. It does the best it can to keep her physically going but her hands and feet are the coldest parts of her body. Overall, her body temperature is one of the coldest in Briar Patch to some concerning degrees even though it doesn't seem to effect her much.

Crystal is also a bit of a prankster.

Which means there have been multiple occasions where she's snuck up on someone and put her cold ass hands on the back of their neck, leading to said person screaming both from the shock and the cold.

She's gotten nearly everyone save for Miss Castor (nobody pranks her out of respect), Nana (she knows she'd kill her), Pinokuni (he can't really feel temperature like that), Ben (his fur is too thick), and Kai (he's such a nice guy that she feels bad).

Piper is a bit of a mixed bag because he doesn't get all too surprised due to his heightened hearing and the cold reminds him of home since it's damn near always snowing where he's from so he doesn't mind the sudden cold hands that much. He's like...the only one who can really laugh things off.

She got Paulie once and it triggered his frog instincts, specifically the need to hibernate, and he passed the fuck out on the floor right there. He woke up seconds later and gave her a piece of his mind but Hazel and Kettle thought it was funny as hell.

Crystal has also scared Jack quite a few times and it was some of the highest pitched screaming she's gotten from her trick she's heard in her life.

I love that trope where the giant gets tied down like in Gulliver’s Travels. Whether its one tiny or a hundred tinies tying down the giant, whether the giant is afraid or confident, fearplay or not, it always HITS

Giant that gets tied down by the monster-slayer (who’s never killed a humanoid monster before) and looks so sad and eepy that they just cant bring themself to do it, and lets them go.

Giant who pretends to be caught and completely submits to the tinies because its amusing, only to break out and cause havoc moments after the tinies think they’ve won.

Giant who gets tied down and ask if the tinies really, truly think this is going to hold them?

Humans who get tied to the kitchen floor by a group of borrowers (whom they did not know existed) who are tired of them stomping around in the early morning hours all the time.

Giant who tries to be scary and cocky but actually these ropes are very tight and… they cant break out for the life of them, making their threats meaningless.

Giant who gets tied down and keeps trying to tell the tinies they’re not a bad giant, promise! The tinies do not believe this despite the sincerity of the claim. Shocker
