the lightwood siblings are literally like. "what if three siblings who genuinely love and would die for each other lash out with the cruelest thing they can think to say when hurt because none of them ever learned proper emotional regulation or communication skills" and that's SO real of them. tbh.
(notably they're all pretty good at/about apologizing when it's called for)

Can someone explain me why team green supporter have this strong belief that Rhaenyra will kill her half-siblings once she takes the throne? Analyzing the show rhaenyra never did something that might suggest that he would have killed Alicent's children, the only moment where she speak against one of them is when she had been accused of something that could have led to her death and that of her children; but for the rest of the season if somebody of the green did something questionable against her she just say nothing and endure. I saw a post weeks ago (so I don't remember the author since I didn't save it) claiming that this fear came from the killing of vaemond, but it sounds nonsense; vaemond litterally call the heir to the throne a whore and her sons, in line to inherit the throne, bastard. What she was supposed to do? What you all expected her to do? To have him get away with a cut tongue after she had been humiliated of front of all court ?
"But she publicly disobey the king's order, he said a tongue was the punishment so she made it clear that she would override the king's orders, she feels empowered to do everything "
Is not just what alicent did at ep. 7? Didn't she override king's order and tried to mutilate a five years old boy where the king publicly said that the matter was over? And yet I didn't see rhaenyra plan to kill all of the green because they could be a threat to her, she understands it to be an isolated case.
"rhaenyra is not the problem, daemon is. He would surely kill the pretenders to the throne even if Rhaenyra forbade him to do so."
Despite the fact that daemon, even if represented as impulse in the show, was never seen to be violent against his own blood (only the scene with rhaenyra but that was after the usurpation). He loves rhaenyra and viserys too, there's no reason to think he would have hurt Viserys' children in any way, despite his dislike of Alicent. In fact in the book he act against them after an usurpation, the death of her daughter and her stepson. I think he waited a long time to act, didn't he? If he had been so determined to eliminate Alicent's children, why didn't he act sooner to prevent possible usurpation? He was able to send killers into the castle in the middle of the war, why didn't he find a way to get rid of them sooner? To have them killed and make sure that suspicion did not fall on him? like poison or something similar? Because he didn't want to hurt viserys' kids, he didn't like them but neither want them killed.
After this huge introduction, rhaenyra would be the regnant queen so daemon would be a consort, nothing more. Yet why are the green convinced that daemon would not listen to rhaenyra’s orders? The answer can be safely found in their actions. The green disobey to the king's order for like more than eight years, attacking Rhaenyra, plan to deprive Rhaenyra's son of his inheritance, plotting a usurpation and all the other stuff. They are convinced that this is normality (disobey the king's order and get away with it, in fact after alicent cut rhaenyra's arm she said to her father that viserys may punish her and his response was not to worry bc he wouldn't do anything).
"the realm wouldn't accept her / her bastard. People would have looking for aegon to be king"
Rhaenyra was supported by 53 houses, and four big house (stark, tully, arryn, greyjoy) against 28 house and two big house (lannister and baratheon) of aegon; if the realm had not accepted her nor her sons, how do you explain the fact that she has nearly twice of the supporters as aegon? Also, Rhaenyra's eldest sons were beloved and demonstrate themselves to be valid claimants to the throne. Cregan and jace arrange the marriage between cregan' son and jace's future daughter, lord manderly want joffrey to be betrothed with his youngest daughter. Lord borros, one of the most misogynist men quoted in fire and blood (had four daughters and yet spent all his life wishing to have a son to succeed him, and claim that a son is more important than a daughter) ask lucerys which daughters of him he will marry in exchange for his support. It doesn't seem like people avoided them, quite the opposite. Not to mention, jace is the only person in fire and blood who is defined as a "worthy heir to the throne" also by green supporter themselves. And in the book their kinship is only speculated, by none other than Alicent and his children and no one believe this gossip after their eggs have hatched. Also when aegon became king, he didn't declare them as illegitimate, the author himself recognized them as laenor' son.
Tumblr media
If aegon wouldn't directly challenge rhaenyra's throne, the house that support him wouldn't start a rebellion; they would literally not have had the material to win, also because the dragons would have flanked the far superior armies. This is just an excuse used in the attempt to justify that the scheming of team green divided the realm, not the ascension of a woman.
In conclusion if the green stayed on their place they would not have played as important a role as before, otto for example, but they would all still be alive.
"As you make your bed, so you must lie in it", and the green are the only one to blame for their downfall.

When Rhaenyra discovered that Tyland Lannister had divided the royal treasury and sent most of it beyond her reach, Rhaenyra subjected him to incredibly brutal interrogation to get him to reveal where it was, including gouging out his eyes and gelding him. She planned to have 16 years-old Addam Velaryon tortured on the mere suspicion of disloyalty, only stopped by Corlys warning him in time for him to get away. I agree that GRRM make it clear that she was the rightful heir, but he also make it clear that Rhaenyra was just as horrible and tyrannical as Aegon II. None of them deserved the Iron Throne.
I wrote about this HERE and HERE.
*EDITED POST* (3/27/24)...I perhaps have been a bit too Rhaenyra's perspective-focused in my bid to make people treat/remember Rhaenyra as a human (w/class privileges), but, here we go.
I think that "none of them deserved the Iron Throne" in a fandom that already tries to blame the entire Dance on her runs the risk of discouraging people from assessing Rhaenyra's background and the material for her motivations for violence (as one would do with a perosn they see as even close to "human" or acting as an oridinary perosn could), thus it only encourages making Rhaenyra's actions "nonsensical" and "unjusitifed" and "barbaric".
A)
Coming from what I say below, by the time Rhaenyra goes to KL, her decision to be more ruthless also comes from the death of her oldest son, Jace, and before this, she already lost her second Luke to Aemond's machismo rage. When she lost Luke, she broke down and as the quote about her reaction to losing Jace shows, it appears she was determined to destroy any persons who helped the greens usurp her. The usurpation led to the conflicts that would cause her kids' deaths.
I think it makes sense for Rhaenyra to look at Tyland (a green and the one who rationalized his betrayal of her in the green council) as her enemy. He was a person who at least enabled the greens to properly usurp her in the green council and didn't seem to have much compunction or difficulty doing it...and he is the one who is still helping the greens by removing the royal treasury from Rhaenyra's grasp. Before Rhaenyra imprisoned & tortured him, he had already done this one critical thing. It wasn't all that practical...but to write it completely off as unforgiveable stupid is unfair.
Remember that it is this one thing that really disables Rhaenyra from establishing her rule efficiently and more peacefully. She needed to fix this issue AND she obviously sought some sort of revenge through him. Especially during a time when an invading green army could enter KL at any time to oust her, creating a very fearful environment for her as well as the ordinary inhabitants.
Imagine what it would have been like, for a second--anyone who is reading this--from either perspective:
your antagonistic step-parent has insulted/worked against you since you was 10 or so ("who protects her from Cole", years of trying to expose her and her sons, etc). AND you have experienced unsubtle and subtle harassment from a person you can't just kick out because they are your father's wife and technically outrank you for the latter half of your childhood
same step-parent taught their children/your siblings to dismiss you and your son's enough for years until they formed their own "rivalry" and your siblings do not respect your children/their nieces or nephews bc they feel they are inherently superior -> one cold-bloodedly kills one of your kids (and he did do so purposefully, fuck HotD and it's "logic" of making everything an accident and not the poor greens' fault).
*Rhaenyra didn't do anything to these people to merit the harm they did to her, which preceded any harm she did to them or those who followed them and helped them to power.
You have been usurped, you lost a child (this part would hit harder if you actually wanted and loved your kids) one through a miscarriage, another murder, and one in battle
your father's death was kept from you until the very last minute;
you arrived at the place where you must figure out how to keep your hard-won position from enemies still outside the gates that could come at any second
you probably have the need to "prove" your kids' deaths "meant" something
These are Rhaenyra's likeliest pressures. The deal with Tyland is that Rhaenyra saw him as a green against her (and can we blame her?) as well her wanting to to get things under control as soon as possible. I don't condone the suspicions of the bastards, especially Nettles, but you make it seem like Rhaenyra was unique in her cruelty while simultaneously claiming none deserved the throne, flattening the story to "no one is 'better' than the other, so no one deserves it".
I wouldn't say that Rhaenyra was altruistic or compassionate to everyone around her, or that in general altruism or thinking of others as a part of her own family was in her character. Rather she has a similar level of regard for others as people imagine is common amongst humans: not wanting to directly cause damage to those she doesn't know until perceived harm is done, or until she feels forced to. Again, otherwise more concerned with her immediate life and self-interested than not. But still, with who Tyland is, what he did to help the greens displace & usurp her and then lead to her sons' deaths, her need to establish order as soon as possible and how all of these things happening all at once or in quick succession creating a heavy psychological burden on a person...it's not hard to see how a lot of people, maybe you, anon, would do similar things.
Then there is the KL commonborn's need to survive not only from attacks but to make a living (traders, merchants, barkeepers) when the influx of travelers from anywhere suddenly stops. Suddenly there is a lot more thievery. Then there will also be lots of people going crazy from the stress, which would cause more murders, rapings, etc. This would explain how executions also rose and Rhaneyra decided "might as well make money off of this" and charged people for coming to see the rising number of executions. There is also not much time going to be paid towards these executions as much as, once again, defending oneself from enemies and the grief of losing kids.
The reason why we should / do admire people who manage to make good or even passably logical decisions during moments like these is because they managed in the first place. Which makes them special. Yeah we need leaders who can try and do the most they can to perform their duties, but to expect them to be 100% or even 80% without help is...ludicrous. They are still very human.
B)
Vaemond's death, while brutal was arguably deserved & necessary bc:
he thought it smart to protest her offering Luke as Corlys' heir by stating he was a bastard right in front of her after Viserys had already stated and declared that anyone who called his grandkids bastards would have their tongues ripped out/corporal punishment (almost like Brandon Stark with Rhaegar, but at least Brandon's action isn't trying/allowing the murder of innocents)
called Rhaenyra a traitor to the crown, endangering her and her kids' lives so he could benefit from maybe becoming the next lord of Driftmark, something he doesn't actually need
nor what the actual lord (Corlys) wanted. If Vaemond so wanted the seat, he could have gone to Colrys a long time before, but he didn't bc he knew Corlys would shut that down.
Remember that in his society, the lord/head of house declares the next heir/leader of house. If one argues that this feudal hierarchical system is inherently unjust and acknowledges that Vaemond is trying to get others killed purely to benefit from being a man, chasing power that could be granted under other circumstances, then one should not argue that Vaemond is acting morally when he calls Rhaenyra's kids bastards. There is also nothing moral about using a person's bastardry and patriarchal mores of female chastity to claim that you deserve to rule. (The point of the Dance.)
C)
Again, By the time she and Daemon took KL, she's made the decision to be more ruthless ("The Red Dragon and the Gold"):
Tumblr media
Aegon the Elder, on the other hand, had no reason to take the throne or watch his bastard kids fight in pits or rape a 11-year-old and several other servants and maids (you think he stopped at "fondling", dream on) and Alicent, while she was trying for power for herself and in a different story would be more commendable for doing so by taking advantage of her position as the would-be heir's mother, she also did much of her amoral actions without provocation. What did she do to Rhaenyra before any of Rhaenyra's kids are born? I already told you. And again, if she hadn't turned her sons against Rhaenyra, Aemond would not have done as he did regarding Vhagar and then got it in his head to kill Lucerys to prove a point of strength.
I'm not sure what you expected from Rhaenyra that wouldn't likely happen with most people, or what one would expect from most people after their kids have been killed. You'd have to be privileged enough to not expect others to harangue or assualt you purely out of hate or ambition.
Also, meanwhile, Alicent is out here thinking she's in the moral right to dismiss the deaths of Jace and Luke as "bastard blood shed in war" and saying the deaths of her son(s), the legitimate ones, are worth more than Rhaenyra's based on legtimacy. The social stigma of those born out of wedlock informing the worthiness of lives. It's actually pretty amazing she didn't have Alicent imprisoned in a cell deep within the Keep way down below for that alone.
What made Rhaenyra tyrannical was that from an early time in her life, she was treated as undeserving due to her femaleness and then she had to keep her belief in herself extant in the face of that. Whether she is a "good" person or not is not really my issue, my issue is that she wasn't allowed autonomy or power that she didn't claim for herself. That she was regarded and treated as "bad" or inferior by those around her before she ever really got to develop into something else. Before she had to self-determine.
That comes with the development of the need to protect such powers, which got worse after her son deaths and the multiple pressures of a city during a war, these things which a ruler didn't usually have to face right when they begin to rule all at once.
So no, Rhaenyra wasn't always tyrannical or evil. There was progression based on others' attacks and Viserys never gave her some sort of training in politics that Jaehaerys probably gave Aemon and Baelon and Aegon I gave Aenys. Of course, Rhaenyra had the opportunity to learn on her own, but
A) She already did on Dragonstone and again the situation in King's Landing is very unlike the typical ascendant's situation upon their first days of rule: an ongoing war, riots incited by a hiding green and a crazy man from the Citadel most likely, some councilmen unjustifiably blaming you for their wife's death, etc. The pressure would have been intense and the need to pull everything right together seemed to have outrun her mental capacity...again sons' deaths (also Rhaenys, I don't think she was distant with Rhaenys, who also loved her sons and the daughters of Laena Rhaenyra raised).
B) To think that some education from her father/ruler and confidence in her wouldn't have helped her to get her bearings is pretty myopic.

I don’t understand people that like to paint Alicent as this villain. She was forced into comforting the king during his grieving and married him unwillingly. Every decision she has made was because of Otto’s doing. And it’s understandable to be so upset that Viserys does nothing at all to reprimand Rhaenyra. The Daemon situation, the situation with her sons he sweeps it under a rug. He never fully talks to Rhaenyra and tells her “hey if you’re going to be heir you need to get your act straight”. Rhaenyra grew up thinking she didn’t need to keep up with her allies all those years because Viserys arranged all the lords to swear an oath to her. And then you look at Jace and Luke and they can’t even fight 😭. Sorry if I’m going on a tangent there’s just so many events that happened that Viserys should’ve/could’ve prevented. Then there’s those that say “Well Alicent is bad” yes, during the show having Rhaenyra come to her after birth was wrong. I feel people forget that Alicent is a victim too in this. And she’s been forced to witness how Viserys would do anything and everything for Rhaenyra but not the children he has with her.
Tangents are welcomed!! And exactly. Like maybe I’m biased but considering everything Alicent has been through - losing her mother, being stuck with a father who only sees her as a political tool, being forced to be married and bear children at such a young age, losing her best friend (and first love depending on who you ask), her children have been bullied/ignored/literally maimed, having to take care of an old man while running a kingdom - I don’t think she was mean enough lmao. I would’ve turned into a fucking supervillain. The worst part is that she treats Rhaenyra that way bc of her paranoia (that otto instilled in her) and she gets validated!! Rhaenyra is literally willing to have her 10 year old half sibling tortured bc she fucked up by having kids with Harwin
I hope in s2 (they probably won’t lmao) they draw on the parallel on how viserys’ nonchalantness led to Rhaenyra’s downfall as future heir the way Rhaenyra’s can lead to her childrens. I mean just take her sending Lucerys to storm’s end with no deal for lord borros. She ran away from court bc the heat got turned up. She let Alicent and otto run the realm. She foolishly thought marrying the man who gets banished from court several times bc of his recklessness would help. Then she gets shocked when she’s out of the loop, has no allies, and gets usurped. Viserys pretty much ruined all his kids in different ways :/

ok i finished the grisha triology about eight hours ago and i have Thoughts ™️:
i loved the ending?? ships apart it was really well done and it was the only way both alina and mal could survive the last book
i don't understand all the mal hate. like yeah, he was kind of an ass to alina in s&s but she wasn't exactly nice to him either. i'm happy alina stayed with him in the end not only bc she truly loves him but bc he really loves her too? i mean?? he's willing to sacrifice his life for her more than once and he accepts her power but doesn't worship her or judge her for her use of it or lets it define her in his eyes (at least, not anymore). he made mistakes but recognised what he did wrong and apologised. mal stuck with alina through thick and thin even though he knew he would probably end up dead and protected her and was there for her even when they were fighting.
this accidentally became a mal defense post
anyway
i couldn't see her ending up with the darkling bc he is basically irredeemable. the dude had so many chances to make things right and he screwed them up every time. smh
also bc he doesn't love alina and never will. he just wants her for her power and abilities, and what he can do with them
and he's an asshole (sorry not sorry)
i just don't get how people can ship them
regarding nikolai, it's not that i don't like him (i love him, loml) but i just couldn't see him and alina together?? they're much better off as friends, i think, bc if they had gotten married it would have been for political purposes and not bc they loved each other
i mean obviously they're attracted to each other at least on a physical level bc they're both v pretty but their relationship dynamic has always been more of a friend one than a couple one
i think nikolai maybe just wanted to be loved by someone who knew him and respected him not just for his titles and who also talked to him frankly and directly. and alina did all that. but i also think that he didn't really love her, he just thought that if he had to marry for politics he would at least marry someone he liked
he was probably very lonely too
and alina was attracted to him too but she would have never truly loved him bc in the end she would still have had mal in her heart
(i always say genyalina is my fav alina ship bc it throws people off and bc. like. lesbians)
the superior couple is nadia x tamar and no i don't take criticism
go lesbians
i'm still mad we don't know where alina's power comes from
when alina was wondering if the darkling was her cousin i had a very brief flashback of me reading city of ashes back when clary thought she and jace were siblings
i'm glad we got baghra back in r&r
but then we lost her again :(
i loved misha
he was v cute
also david!!! my autistic materialnik son!!!
unproblematic fave
i feel kinda bad for sergei. he didn't deserve to die like that
neither did marie
but is the world ever fair??
i really liked harshaw and fedyor too
i don't know why but i think they would have gotten along
the king and vasily got what they deserved and i have never been happier
ivan also got what was coming to him
fucking assholes
unpopular opinion (i think) but i also loved the darkling's death?? it reminded me a bit of voldemort's death in hp in the sense that it proved that no matter how much power and prestige he had he was still a man and could die as one
it felt so powerful to me that in the end it wasn't alina's raw power or his own that killed him; it simply was a peasant girl with a knife who had just lost the love of her life
idk, it just felt very satisfying that he could die from something as simple as a stab wound
and that it was his search for power and his arrogance what eventually led to his death
very poetic and satisfying indeed
back to the characters!! i have never loved nikolai more than in the scene with genya and the king
in fact, i love nikolai so much i think imma make a separate post just about my love for him
speaking of that scene, david and genya are so pure?? like?? david has always struggled to find the correct words and yet he conquered genya's heart with just a couple of phrases. and genya could have chosen anyone to be with but she picked the weird fabricator no one looked at and made him feel heard and seen
they love each other so much i'm crying
i also liked how that scene established the true nature of like five characters in like. 2 pages.
genya stood up for herself and proved to her abuser and to her boss that she was more than just a pretty face and that she could be ruthless if she wanted to. david proved that he didn’t love genya for her looks or her status but rather for her steel heart. nikolai proved that he cared more for his subjects than for reputations or familial relationships and that he would see justice served no matter who was at the receiving end. the king and the queen proved that they were snobbish assholes that thought their status and privilege put them above the law. and we already knew all this but it was so satisfying to see them show their true colors, especially in front of their son and future king (who handled the situation perfectly, in my opinion) (have i mentioned i love nikolai yet?)
it’s like. we already knew what those characters were made of before that, but it just, felt so good to see the king and queen put in their place and to see david and genya finally get together
tolya and tamar own my heart (but specially tamar)
they're so devoted to alina and to her protection and that of those she loves and they clearly don't see her only as a saint but also as a friend
if not, tolya wouldn't have let mal go in the church and they would have tried to save him in the fold
zoya is amazing and i love her
she stuck with alina even though she didn't really like her bc she recognized that she was ravka's and the grisha's only chance at survival
i can’t wait to read more of her and nikolai in kos
i read soc before i read tgt bc i’m dumb like that and now i understand a lot of things they said about ravka in there, thank god
i only cried twice and both times it was because of nikolai
wait, no, the epilogue made me cry too
i’m so glad alina and mal got their happy ending
they deserved it
to spend the rest of their lives helping children and in each other’s company
the greenhouse scene reminded me of tmi again (clace in city of bones, anyone?)
the scene when the nichevo’ya (is that how it’s spelled?) attack at the banquet gave me chills
i could FEEL the tension building with every passing moment and it was amazing
actually the last thirty pages of each book were incredible @lbardugo you’re amazing at last-minute plot twists
i want to know what happened to oncat
is she okay?
the chapel scene at the end of s&s was so heartbreaking. seeing alina willing to sacrifice herself to kill the darkling and mal screaming for her killed me
i loved when alina made the shadows appear in the kitchen and the apparat and his guards stepped back in fear
actually the whole kitchen scene was so good
seeing the apparat get put in his place? alina displaying such raw power and establishing herself as a leader and accepting her role as a saint? her marking vladim? i enjoyed it so much
and even after all that she is still repulsed by violence (see: her throwing up after mal cuts a man’s throat or her tearing her gaze apart from the apparat’s guards’ dead bodies)
idk i just think alina is a very three-dimensional character and i love that of her
her and mal’s character developements are some of the best arcs i’ve ever read in ya novels
alina going from a simple cartographer to accepting her own power to realising she can change the world with it and growing a following of thousands, all the while never losing sight of those she loves and always trying to not let her power corrupt and consume her?? and mal going from a flirty tracker with a fairly easy life to an incredible soldier who would both kill and give his life for the woman he loves?? good shit right there
and the mal reveal?? talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique.
but honestly, i have never felt as dumb and satisfied at the same time as i did when the pieces finally clicked into place. my reaction was basically “this is so obvious. how did i not figure it out sooner. oh my god”
tl;dr: @lbardugo is a genius and i am never going to recover from this

spy au w/ saphael
war with love
so simon is a spy and everything
he gets sent to be roomies with raphael and befriend him
and then to go to a wedding where valentine will be there and take him out
and at first everything is cute! and domestic and fluffy!
like they meet in chapter one and backgrounds are established
and in chapter two they get a little bit more domestic where simon is a night owl and raphael has these late shifts and falls asleep on simon
and then theres a city tour!! and near the end there is this open mic singing thing and so obviously they go bc simon and raphael sings and simon is just w o w
meeting!! raphaels!! friends!! and learning more about the past. and this wanting to learn spanish for raphael and also a fancyish meal
raphael learns that simon is learning spanish and teases him lke a lil loser but is also really happy. then they find vida mia snow and sim gets sad bc he doesnt wanna leave raphael ever
then theres more opening up (via viddia atta girl) and their first kiss and stuff. or maybe that hapens in the last chapter idk. simon also gets a job at a flowers place NERD
he gets flowers for like. everything
they go out shopping and also they go out clubbing and simon gets drunk and he makes out with someone who isnt raphael and has sex by mistake
bc now they’re exclusive and raphael is sosososo upset and that trust is betrayed
and they fight and simon feels like shit and he almost leaves bc valentine isnt worth this pain
but he stays. raphael is worth it. vidia is worth it.
its super awkward tension bt it slowly defuses down and raphael finally is willing to talk
and he forgives simon bc he will always forgive simon
and they fall into a familier patter and simon finally meets raph’s family
and then its the pre wedding days where again flower everywhere and theres a job loss confession on raphael’s behalf poor bby
they get matching outfits and simon is reminded of his mission and so he does it well and thats good
and wedding day huge slurs are also thrown around a possible fight but its all okay.
and then simon finds out raphael is an assassin and his next mark is simon so he runs with vidia.
end of war with love.
relationships with other characters
magnus bane
magnus knows both parties and will not take sides
he consoles raphael and his heart goes out to simon
when raphael decides to leave the orginzation magnus supports him and gives him lita
raphael spends years looking for simon but he never asks magnus bc he would never pressure his friend like that
he also knows about lita and loves her and is like a father to her
lightwood siblings
alec finds out thru magnus and after a while he listens
and he realizes that yeah raphael is a lil shit but hes alsoa good person
not all monsters do terrible things and so he develops a relationship and in actuality he also uses raphael to make sure simon and his family stay safe
eventually izzy finds out bc alec can never keep anything fro her
and izzy and raphael!! have a great friendship!!
they speak spansh to each other and are so comfortable with each other and are so good in fighting and sparring
and its so awkward when simon finds out that they knew this whole time but never said anything
but neither of them would betray the other bc friendship
clace
they never knew about raph
and are super pissed with simon
but they work with him and as time goes on they get a little bit easier with him
mydia
so this is in another universe and like mia and raphael have a pretty damn good relationship
and he tells her and she comforts him when hes at his lowest
she and lydia have a thing and its so secretive no one knows [but raph, and magnus. and simon shh]
and lydia is besties with simon in this universe and kinda found out on accident??
shes a spy ffs she overheard some shit and investigated
it led to a h u g e mydia fight
regardless they made up and they also kinda know the story individually and arent taking sides
they just love both people want want the bet i love them
mia and vidia get along great once the initial shock is over tbqh its awesome
and like mia and lita already besties so its a+
vidia mia rose [backstory]
so saphael fund this poor baby girl all abandoned and obviously took her in
simon wanted to name her after a disney fairy FUCKING NERD but raphael wanted to name her after his sister and so they came to a compromise where her first name would be vidia and her middle name mia after IZZY!! SISTER! OC!!! and her last name snow bc they found her on a bench and she was so delicately wrapped she looked so soft
they took her in and raphael is really good with kids with and simon is so!!
her mother couldnt take care of her she left a note and its so movie-like its almost sounds fake.
since they dont know her birthday they decided it would be on the day they found her.
gay. as. hell.
BIRTHDAY:
FANCAST: zendaya
vidia mia rose [personality]
nicknames include: dia, viddie (it was a dumb nickname by jace bye) and mini mia or mm! by raphael and lita calls her snow (no one else)
shes likes a gryffindor - ravenclaw

shes met all of his family and has trained with him and honestly?? there is no one she trusts more
she doesnt see him as a father figure tho. like a teacher yeah mentor would be the better word
and she thinks that she owes him everything
raphael sees her skill set bc obviously she can thieve p well and he hones in the pick pocketing better. and shes also a grifter
she loves raphael, she loves the family that she found on her own

shes a grifter and has so many facades but who is she really? is she a good person? lita is so insecure about herself and its the worst she gets really bad

eAdam Van Winkle was the Gen 2 heir of the Van Winkle Legacy. He was turned at the age of 32 by the previous ruler of Moonlight Falls. Adam led the rebellion overthrowing the previous ruler and by unanimous decree by the clan elders Adam became the new ruler of Moonlight Falls. His youngest son Keenan was next in line to replace Adam as ruler. Due to fear and prejudice the Clan Elders has found Keenan unfit to become the next ruler of Moonlight Falls. After the death of his human wife, Beverly the Clan Elders has decreed that Adam must remarry to produce an heir suitable of ruling over Moonlight Falls. As Adam is still grieving for his wife The Clan Elders have taken it upon themselves to find a suitable mate for him. Placing the following advertisement in the paper of Moonlight Falls.
Have you ever wondered what it might be like to be married to the ruler of Moonlight Falls? For many of it’s citizens this has been only a dream. Now by royal decree the Clan Elders are accepting applications for worthy citizens who want a chance to make that dream a reality. This opportunity is open to all citizens of Moonlight Falls. Stop by the Hall of Elders to pick up an application now.
Requirements under the cut.
May be supernatural (any variety EA or made up) or human (must have a good story as to why they are in Moonlight Falls as not many humans live in or are welcome)
Must have an ulterior motive for joining: Are they there for Adam, the elders or some other reason?
Detailed Bio including the following: family history, relationship with parents/siblings, have they ever been married before? Divorced? Widowed? Kids? What is their relationship like with the ex? With their kids? Be creative.
Why they applied: Made to? Volunteered? Crush?
Male or Female - the elders don’t care what Adam’s preference is as long as an acceptable heir can be produced.
What are they willing to do to win: kill? lie? cheat? steal? doublecross? etc.
What drives them: money? power? love? hate?
Traits must be a mix of good and bad be creative. This BC is more about the clan elders maneuvering things than it will be about Adam finding love.
I have all EPs and SPs. CC is fine as long as you link it. Sliders are fine. You will need to link me to the ones you use if they look strange in my game. I have a few but not many. Vanilla, Berry, Supernatural human anything goes.
Depending upon interest I’m opening slots for eight to start with.
It will be story driven. I’m debating whether I’ll post the standard bc here and the story driven one on my blog.

i read the mortal instruments when i was like 12 i had no idea what was going on and i remember explaining the plot to my mom one day and she was like "you're reading WHAT?!?!?!?!?" and in hindsight like YEAH. YEAH ESDFGHMNGFDSF
literally there was so much incest bait... and so much actual incest............. like holy actual fuck i dont get it.
like ok the ACTUAL incest was purposefully repulsive and it was used to show how fucked up this one guy was and it was not reciprocated. but the incest bait was just totally unncessary like
ok so the main romance was between clary and jace and so it was this whole big reveal that clary is the daughter of the main antagonist but she had never even met the guy, but jace was RAISED by him and led to believe he was his son by blood so like
the entire first book it was them flirting and shit and then by the end they thought they were siblings but like it was STILL LIKE "OH BUT WE'RE STILL ATTRACTED TO EACH OTHER" AND THE LIKE WEIRD TENSION AND THE ALMOST KISSES AND ITS LIKE HELLO!!! HELLO!!!!! WHAT!!! MA'AM IM CLALLING THE POLICE
and then it wound up being revealed that jace is NOT the guy's son by blood so they arent actually related which just. made all that okay in the end? and then they wound up dating for real AND ITS JUST LIKE
WHY WAS THAT NECESSARY THOUGH..... it was so fucking uncomfortable before i got to the part where it was revealed they werent siblings. i only kept reading bc i was like "SURELY there is NO way theyre really siblings bc theres NO way this would be ahppening if they are" like my pure disbelief was the only thing keeping me going
but even then its like but why!!!! they thought they were brother and sister and theyre still giving each other bedroom eyes like hello!!!! hello!!!!
and then of course clary meets her ACTUAL brother and then the guy is like fucked up so then . yeah he does blatantly kiss her KNOWING that they are related and then he has this whole weird thing where he wants to marry her too and she has to play along so she can get his guard down and kill him or some shit IDK .
like there was just so MUCH weird SHIT in this series it was so bad man. i just wanted cool angels 😔
