Rewatching Merlin and I think the reason Arthur’s personality started going downhill again in S2 is because BBC’s writers wanted to introduce Gwen as a love interest to him and realized (too late) what they did in S1 between Arthur and Merlin— damn they’re going around drinking poison for each other, dreaming of one another, making oaths and envisioning their kingdom together, welcoming death if it means the other would survive, staring. Love it when writers put a connection between two male characters calling it a 'profound bond' or 'two sides of the same coin' or that they wonder 'what I'd be without you' and they've 'forged their two lives into one' but then scream "no homo! They're like brothers!"

Like, mate, this passed brotherhood a long time ago, and now they're soul mates who are so obsessed with each other that it is literally destroying them and the lives of all the people around them.

It's so funny to listen to some German shows sometimes because nearly everything is voice acted by the same fucking person because we have so little and we have no regards for literal personalities like, the only rule is that actors get certain voice actors but you still get the weirdest character combinations.

See when I say there's no show like BBC Merlin, it's like... it's the little things you know....

For example, Merlin casually spilling wine (water?) on Arthur as he serves them. It's not a main focus of the scene and they don't pull any attention to it, yet it's so funny and so in character. Esp with Arthur about to say something, realising it's not worth it and just wiping his hand as Merlin continues serving, none the wiser
