All Grown Up:
Tumblr media
Summary: The Kazansky and Kerner’s watch their daughters graduate from High School.
🚨warnings🚨: fluff, soft Slider and Iceman moments.
{masterlist 📚} {previous chapter 📎} {next chapter 📖}
In honor of our baby Mousey graduating HS in a few weeks!
Tumblr media
It was a hot afternoon in May on the Miramar base that the Kazansky family were currently stationed at.
Ice and Dragon couldn’t be more proud of their daughters as the couple and the Kerner’s sat by one another to watch this big moment in their children’s lives.
The tight friendship between their parents had been carried on to the Kazansky sisters and the Kerner girl.
When both women were told that they had a low chance to have a baby, it pained them to know that they wouldn’t be able to experience the same things as other couples on the base.
But by what seems like a wish upon a shooting star, within a month of each other, Rachael and Jade found out that they were pregnant.
Tom and Ron were very helpful during the pregnancies and tried to be there for every appointment and when the men couldn’t, the women would be each others support systems.
They were all thankful for this day, the girls because they could finally follow in their parents footsteps and join the Navy and the couples because it showed that their babies were growing up.
Tumblr media
The girls were all dressed in their official Navy Officer uniforms, hair slicked back in the mandatory bun, and the Navy chords laying on the back of their necks.
Nerves shot up their backs as they waited in the line before walking out to the football stadium that held the awaiting parents.
Baylie Kazansky, the eldest, started the hand holding train with the two other girls behind her. As the leader, she made sure to care for the younger two.
Raven was in the middle and the youngest of the group, the older girls protected her at all cost and wouldn’t let anyone hurt their Mousey.
Last but not least, was Amanda Kerner. The only child of Slider and Whiskey, but saw the Kazansky’s as her second family.
All the girls had ‘graduated’ in the second semester of the school year and gone to bootcamp between then and now.
Today made it official and would get their diplomas that they worked so hard for during the four years of high school they finished.
The music started and the line moved to the door, one by one all the students came outside and sat in order, just like they practiced earlier in the day.
A speech was made by the Salutatorian before the Principal and the Vice Principal made their own.
A moment of silence was announced for the Military members present and who had passed then the Valedictorian made his speech.
More time passed before the Principal started to call the names of students.
As the last of the surnames that started with J’s were called up to the stage, Baylie buzzed with excitement and squeezed Raven’s hand, who in which returned it and did the same to Amanda.
“Baylie Ann Kazansky,” Mr. Simpson called and with one last squeeze, Bay started her walk to the stairs that attached to the stage.
Thinking quickly she jumped in the air on the last step and did a little heel click, a smile on her face after she stuck the landing.
She heard the shouts of her family as she shook her Principal and the Vice Principal’s hand as she held the diploma and the photographer took the picture.
At the end of the stairs stood a junior who handed her a red carnation with a silver ribbon tied in a bow around the stem.
She was just barely to her seat before her sister was called. “Raven Alice Kazansky-Fischer.” Mouse, as her nickname suggests, shyly took the stage and did the same as the many students before her.
Seeing her older sister cause chaos, just like her mother and aunt would’ve done, decided to also do something.
So, with a half-assed plan created, she slid down the bannister and almost fell on her face.
Amanda Kerner was known for being clumsy, often falling over her own feet, so why would today be any different.
“Amanda Louise Kerner.” She stood up and started to make her way to the stage, glancing up into the bleachers to find her family. Once she did, she gave a small smile and held her head up high.
When she was on the last step she missed and almost fell flat on her face, but at the last second saved herself.
Amanda started to laugh and her face heated up a little embarrassed about the whole thing as she walked up to the Principal and copy the hundreds before her.
After she had her carnation in hand, made her way back to her seat as the next student was announced.
The three girls scooted the chairs closer and held hands again, this time their achievements in the other as they all waited for the rest of the students to be called.
Tumblr media
Ron and Jade both could see her body move with giggles and her face flushed a light pink as their daughter took the diploma.
Tom lightly smacked Ron’s shoulder as he laughed at his niece.
The Kerner parents have no idea where their daughter’s clumsiness comes from, both steady on land and in air, but they always had a good laugh about it.
Often making jokes and sharing the moments with Tom and Rachael.
Both couples did this with their children and the hilarious memories that would forever be remembered.
It only took seconds before the laughter turned into tears as they cheered or whistled for their children.
Proud was not the word that could describe this experience, because they all felt like that wasn’t the right one to use.
Both couples felt more than proud for their children, but didn’t know if there was a word to explain how much.
After the last student was called, another speech was made and then the Principal said the sentence that the girls and the couples were waiting for, “Please give a round of applause for the graduating class of 2017! You may move the tassel from the right to the left!”
Tumblr media
One by one starting from the closest to the stage, all the lines of students started to exit and were free to find their families.
Ron, being the tall giraffe man that he is, spotted the girls first and guided the others to the recent graduates.
He didn’t wait for his daughter to see him, immediately pulling her into a bear hug and squeezing tighter when he feels her jump, a chuckle vibrates through his chest.
He knows that she realizes who it is after the chuckle, and turns around in his arms to hug him back.
Jade joins not too long afterwards, wanting the father and daughter to have a moment just for them.
Soon Ron lets go for the same reason as his wife, a special moment shared between a mother and a daughter.
More tears are shed as the embrace continues before Jade eventually brakes it, too choked up for words.
Ron stands in front of his little baby, tears gathering at his eyes as he looks at her in the Navy Dress Blues and sees a younger version of her mother.
He lightly punches her chin and whispers, “Here’s looking at you kid.” Amanda sniffles, tears threatening to fall again as she softly punches his chest, “Here’s looking at you dad.”
Ron pulls her into another hug, wanting this moment to freeze in time.
Tumblr media
The Kazansky’s are too lost in their own little world to pay attention to the Kerner’s.
Baylie, the daddy’s girl she is, runs to Tom first. His callsign might be ‘Iceman’ but right now, his ice cold persona is gone for his beautiful daughters.
He pulls away slightly and kisses her forehead, “Come home to me, Bay.”
Baylie reaches up to her father’s forehead barely in her tippy-toes, gives him a soft head-butt and whispers back, “Always.”
He doesn’t stop the tears, nor would he want to. Both crying freely as they hug each other tight.
“You’re tarnishing the Iceman name, you know.” She chuckles.
“Right now Bay, I could care less about that, not while I have you in my arms.”
A short amount of time passes before Raven is in his arms.
“Keep me in your heart,” Tom murmurs into her hair.
“Keep me in your mind,” Raven replied into his chest as she squeezed him impossibly tight, knocking the breath from his lungs.
He doesn’t want to ever let go, so blessed to have a moment like this to share and remember as the years go by.
He never thought he’d get to experience his children’s birth, so he was beyond happy to see them graduate.
Rachael lays her cheek against Raven’s head as the two hug, tears falling from her eyes to the young woman’s hair.
Raven was in no better shape than her mother, tears running down her face as they hugged.
After a couple of minutes went by, seeing that Bay and Tom were finishing their little father-daughter moment, she reluctantly let go. “I’m beyond proud of you my little Mouse.” “I’m proud to be your daughter, biological or not.”
Rachael couldn’t hold the gates and started to cry again, but soon was hugged by her eldest. “You know that we’ll always be your little girls right?”
Rachael petted Bay’s hair, followed by a kiss, “I know, I know. It’s just hard to believe that our babies are so grown up.”
Bay didn’t respond, just squeezed her tighter. All the words needed exchanged between them through the embrace.
The memory etched into her minds eye forever.
Tumblr media
Individual family moments over, the two families came together and celebrated the girls’ graduation with hugs and ‘I’m so proud of you’s.’
They all took turns taking pictures of each families before asking someone passing by to take a group.
With that done, they all hopped into their cars and headed over to Top Gun where their Aunts and Uncles were gathered and ready to see the Graduates.
When they arrived they were all bombarded with open arms, food and drinks, and ‘congratulations!’
The girls could tell by the warmth and smiles that these strong and brave men and women they’ve known their whole lives were just as proud as their parents.
The girls knew that their support system was always going to be there for every accomplishment they go through and couldn’t be more happy by that fact.
And as the years go by, more and more memories were created and photographed so they could all look back and relive the moments and the feelings they all shared.

Asserting Her Tiny Dominance
Tumblr media
{ Part of @dragon-kazansky’s 5K Followers Celebration }
Tumblr media
Ever since the day that Rachael came back into his life, Doc hadn’t known peace. No not because of Rachael. She was still the strong willed woman he loved all those years ago.
The source of his lack of peace was her adoptive daughter. Baylie Kazansky. They got off on the wrong foot but after some time they came to be friends and even see each other as family.
Now his lack of peace, was the fear that one day anything could harm this precious, though wild, child. His child. His other little love of his life.
Partner in crime to Whiskey the horse, Baylie was as rambunctious as a mustang. She would play poker with them, with crackers as the prize. She would stand on the chair with her hands on her hips, asserting her tiny dominance, until one of all of them folded.
Tumblr media
Today, though, her rule would have to come to a pause for a moment. Doc goes to see Baylie first. “Hi my Lucky little lady. How are you?”
“I’m okay. Depends on what you say. Did you arrest the scum Morgan? He owes me chickens.” Her tiny fists are resting on her hip.
Doc can’t help but laugh and Morgan gasps in disbelief. “I paid you those chickens little lady!”
“I don’t see them here…” she pouts dramatically.
Doc laughs some more. He picks up Baylie and sits down, setting her on his lap. “I need to ask you something important, my lucky charm.”
“You may ask.”
He hands her a small ornate box. “I wanted to ask for your hand and permission in letting me be your papa. I want to ask your ma to marry me. But I wanted to ask you first to be my daughter.”
When she looked in the box, she saw a smaller version of the watch he has. In the back, engraved were the words “To my Lucky Charm, love Papa.”
Her eyes full with tears and she lunges to hug him, burrowing her face in his neck. “I love you papa.”
At that moment, Rachael had walked in and heard the words her daughter spoke. She looked at the two loves of her life and smiled widely.
Baylie was finally getting her family.

His Little Dragon
Tumblr media
Meet Baylie Kazansky, the young lady who steals Doc's heart 💕 @bayisdying
Baylie was born on a little ranch that went unnoticed by most people. Her parents lived far from town and she was too young to go explore very far. She has very little memories of her family. Her father passed away when she was only 2, so her only memory of him is from her mother's stories.
She spent a few years living with her mother on her the little ranch, but they struggled to get by. Her mother did all she could to provide, but it wasn't enough. One morning some men on horses came to the ranch. Baylie remembers looking out the window watching her mother talk to them. Next thing she knows, there's a loud bang and the voice stop. Baylie hears someone open the door, but the bad feeling in her gut tells her it isn't her mother. Baylie hides.
The house is ransacked for all it's worth. The scary men leave and Baylie eventually comes out. Her first thought is find her mom. Baylie's world falls apart when she finds her mother lying on the floor outside. She won't wake up. Baylie is alone.
The sound of a horse approaching frightens young Baylie and she runs inside to hide. However, she can't stop crying. Someone comes into the house and she plays quietly that they will go away. The gentle voice that calls out to her startles her. It's a woman's voice and she doesn't sound angry. Peeking out of her hiding spot, she spots the woman crouching near by. Baylie darts out and runs toward the woman, who catches her quickly. Baylie cries into her chest.
That's the last time Baylie sees that house. Rachael comforts her and asks for her name. She takes the hand this lady offers and never looks back. She has no one else but this stranger. Rachael becomes her close friend, and it isn't long before Baylie considers her family. Rachael introduces Baylie as her daughter to people they meet, when looking for work and a bed. Baylie grows to like the sound of it, and one day calls her mom. Rachael has never looked so proud before.
This mother-daughter dynamics sticks and they become their own family. There is nothing Rachael won't do to make sure this girl is happy and safe. Turns out, Baylie is quite a clever character and does her best to help Rachael earn money for them. She's a smart young lady.
So, when Rachael and Doc cross paths again, Baylie is conflicted. This man clearly likes her mom, but Baylie doesn't want to share. Perhaps, something can change, as Baylie may steal his heart too.

Lucky Penny - Chapter Twenty-Seven
A/N: we are almost done with Germy 😏 for now
Besties for the resties: @dragon-kazansky @gracespicybradshaw @mrsjaderogers @callmemana @ladylanera @kloofspeaks @callsignthirsty @cycbaby @likelyrowdy @roosterscockpit @notyoursbutlewis @starlit-epiphany @askmarinaandothers
The men of Hermes' squadron lied through their teeth on the mission debrief and they interrupted her at every chance. If looks could kill? They'd all be as dead as they wished she was.
The fire in her eyes was running wild, and they had no idea how burned they were about to get.
Their Admiral announced that their squadron was being invited back to Top Gun per one Admiral Tom "Iceman" Kazansky. That made Lucky smirk, they all celebrated but they had no idea.
When they boarded the plane, Lucky sat alone. Her notebook full of their mistreatments tucked safely in her bag. She was scrolling through pictures on her phone when she comes across one of all of their Chaos Family at their wedding. She knew that everyone in this picture would have her back in California, and she felt safe.
-----
Ice was pacing back and forth. Their plane was landing soon and he couldn't decide whether he was going to hug his girl or punch Hermes first.
Dragon already knew what she was doing, she was holding her girl, Mickey could kiss bricks if he thinks he's getting the first hug.
Cin was also freaking out, Jake had told her that Lucky was almost home and though she knew her friend would never blame her for sending her on this mission. She didn't want Lucky to think she did it on purpose. All she needed was to see her friends smile as she was reunited with them all.
Jake had gathered Bradley, Javy, Rueben, Phoenix and Bob in the rec room as they awaited the plane. He finally told them what he'd done for Lucky and about the report she'd filed aganist Hermes the first time they'd been at Top Gun. Bradley obviously was the most mad about it, but the others were just as angry. They would all stand behind her during the meeting.
Mickey was more than excited, he was finally going to have his wife in his arms once more. He knew he probably wouldn't get the first hug, but once he did? He wasn't letting go.
-----
"You must think you're tough shit coming home."
"Well Hermes, unlike you I have friends."
"You sure know how to be nice."
The bus takes them from the airport to Top Gun. The boys seem to think they are about to be rewarded by THE Iceman for a job well done.
Waiting outside was the entire Dagger Squad, in the middle stood Ice and Dragon with stony expressions.
The men all climbed out of the bus first forming a line, Lucky behind them the smirk on her face obvious, she bypasses their formal line and half-runs to the group standing there. Mickey takes a step forward and catches her duffle bag when she throws it into his arms. She reaches Cin and hugs her friend as tight as she could.
"I'm so sorry Lucky."
"Don't you dare apologize babe. I love you."
"I love you too." Cin tears up and cries into her shoulder.
She can hear the men making comments, she doesn't care. This is her home, these are her people.
After Cin had been properly hugged, Dragon stepped forward and took her daughter into her arms.
"Welcome home baby." She whispers in her ear.
"Thanks Momma."
"They'll never hurt you again."
"Can we get this little show on the road?" Calls out Hermes, and Lucky can feel Dragon tense up.
"Well gentleman, I suppose we can do that." Ice says, as Lucky makes her way to Mickey's arms. He kisses her forehead and doesn't let go.
Hermes steps forward, "I'm sure you understand how important this mission was and it was a success."
"Was it?" Jake says. "Was it really?"
"It's good to see you again Hangy." Hermes smirked.
Lucky goes to remove herself from Mickeys grip but he just tightens his hold around her waist.
"I wouldn't call almost killing the best aviator in the Navy, a successful mission." The voice that spoke was Dragon's, but she sounded nothing like how anyone had ever heard her before. Sure they'd heard her angry, but this? This was a whole new level, this was Dragon.
Hermes straightened up at that but he kept that damn smirk on his face, "I don't recall almost dying on this mission Commander Kazansky."
Lucky growled at that comment and Mickey had to tighten his grip again, thankfully Payback, Coyote, and Rooster were all there to offer hands to keep Lucky from beating the shit out of Hermes despite them all wanting to let her go.
"And I don't recall you ever being a good aviator." Dragon retorts.
"Oh you were talking about Lucky weren't you? She's fine, obviously she has all her little boytoys..."
He doesn't get to finish his statement, Lucky manages to shake off all her "little boytoys" and stomps her way over to Hermes.
"You can be an asshole to me all you want Hermes, but you say one word about any of my family? There won't be a body for your poor mother to bury."
For what it's worth, Hermes stands his ground too.
"Well damn Steele, no need to throw a temper tantrum."
"Her last name isnt Steele anymore." Mickey says walking up behind his wife. "It's Garcia."
"I guess my invitation got lost in the mail, since you have me to thank for getting the girl."
"I would have never said yes to you." Lucky says her voice dark, not liking where this was going.
He looked around at his men then at the crowd behind Lucky, then back down at Lucky.
"Men, you all just had the opportunity to fly with the only pilot who had to bang her way to the top. I mean look at all the men back there supporting her. You got Rooster and Hangy who can't deny a pretty girl. Hell I bet she's even rolled around with Coyote and Payback though I wouldn't imagine they are really her type. Maybe even sweet Bobby over there has had a chance. You think Iceman would be pulling out all the stops if he didn't know just how good that pus.."
When the fist connects with Hermes' face time stands still. Lucky has to look down at her own hands to make sure she hadn't punched him. No, it hadn't been her. It had been her husband. Her sweet, kind, goofy husband had punched the motherfucker.
Mickey stood over where Hermes lay on the ground holding his nose. "Never ever talk about my wife like that again or it wont just be a punch." He then turns around, grabs Luckys hand and walks her into base, bypassing even all their friends who try to stop him.
He guides her to the rec room, and once he decides they are far enough removed from the situation he turns around and kisses his wife soundly on the mouth.
"That was very sexy of you Mr. Gracia." She says as they pull apart.
"Yeah, now I know why you like punching people so much. It felt good."
Lucky smiles up at him, "can I see the damage?"
He holds out his right hand, and they both cringe a little when they see how bruised the knuckles already are.
"You pulled a real me out there." Lucky teases as she digs the first aid kit out of a cabinet.
"He wasn't going to finish that statement, not about my girl." Lucky opens her mouth, but he stops her, "I know you can handle yourself Bay, but I did vow to always protect you."
Lucky just smiles at him as she makes him sit on the worn out couch, and straddles his lap. Taking his hand in hers, she begins to take care of his knuckles.
"It's odd being on the other end of this." Mickey comments as he watches his wife concentrate on wrapping his hand.
"Oh shut up."
"Pretty sure I also vowed to annoy you the rest of our lives."
"That was Spicy's speech not your vows you dipshit."
"Spicy is smarter than I am."
"I'm glad you finally realize this."
He laughs, "I missed you."
"I missed you more."
"Impossible because I missed you way more than he did." Cin's voice carries through the rec room.
"Cin!" Lucky jumps off Fanboy's lap and runs to her friend and gives her another crushing hug. "I missed you so much too."
"Wow okay, I'm just chopped liver then." Mickey says sarcastically.
"Shut up Mickey." Both girls say at the same time.
"Where the fuck is my sister and my hug from her?"
"Roo!" Lucky catapults herself into his arms.
"God I missed you sis."
"Awww you missed me?"
"Don't ruin this nice moment."
The others joined them and hugs were given all around. Rueben picked her up and spun her around. Javy kissed her cheek.
Jake leans against the doorway taking in the sight.
"I guess I'm happy to see you back here in one piece." He says and Lucky whips around.
"Oh Jake, thank you so much." She says as she hugs him tight. "I guess you aren't so bad."
"Wow thanks babe."
"Hey now, that's my wife Seresin." Mickey teases.
"Oh you can have her Garcia!"
"Oh come on, I'm a delight and any man would be lucky to have me."
"Only Mickey is crazy enough to love you." Jake jokes.
Lucky smiles at her friend, "thanks again Jake. It meant alot for you to actually do what I asked."
"Only for you, you chaotic woman."
Rooster interrupts to say "Spicy just text, they're shutting down the Hard Deck for a special someone's coming home party."
"What about our pals that totally are never flying for the Navy again?" Lucky asks and Cin speaks up.
"Their meeting with all the higher ups is set for tomorrow. They think it's just a debrief and maybe some rewards." She gives an evil smile.
"Then let's go drink!"
"I get first dibs at Spicy, Chicken."
"I swear to God I will race you for that."
"And there they go." Jake sighs as the two run out to their cars.
Once they got to the Hard Deck, Lucky didn't even give the car a chance to be put in park before she was climbing out and running inside the bar.
"Where's my wife?" She calls out to the empty bar.
"Baylie!" Spicy comes running out of the kitchen.
"Grace!"
The two meet in a huge hug where neither want to let go first.
"Damn it, she beat me."
"She'll always beat you Bradley."
"Ouch."

Blast From the Past
Tumblr media
Ryan, Grace's ex, shows up in Cali. Needless to say things get out of hand quickly.
🏷 the discord: @dragon-kazansky @mrsjaderogers @bayisdying @cycbaby @askmarinaandothers @breadsquash
Bradshaws Masterlist
Grace & Bradley had been together for four years, engaged for one, and were only over a month away from their wedding when Kevin surprised Grace by saying he was coming to visit. He was going to be out their way for race week, and wanted to come see her before he'd come back for the wedding.
Grace was excited but also suspicious because Kevin rarely made surprise visits. Once race week was completed, he showed up to stay for a few days. His first night over dinner she decided to question him. "Why are you really here Kev? You're gonna be back in a month for two whole weeks. What's going on?"
"I can't just visit my lil sister when I'm already out here?"
"You can. But usually after race week you're ready to get home and see the girls."
Bradley stays out of it, letting Grace grill her brother all she wants because she does make a point. Kev sighs as he sets his beer on the table and looks between them. "Fine. I did want to come visit but I also have some news."
"Let's have it." She feels Bradley lace their hands together under the table and she squeezes his, letting him know she's ok.
"Ryan showed up at the shop two weeks ago."
"In Florida?!" Her hand unintentionally squeezes Bradley's tighter and she knows without looking his whole body has gone tense.
"Yea. Apparently he looked me up. Was looking for you but wouldn't say why. Course I didn't tell him shit except to fuck off and that he'd signed the papers three years ago so let it go."
"Did he?" Grace asks softly.
"He left when I threatened to call the cops for trespassing. I dunno that he'll be able to find you. But I wanted you to be aware he was looking."
"You know she's safe here right?" Bradley finally speaks up.
"I know. I'm not worried. I just don't trust him." Bradley gives him a nod at that. They change the subject, sensing Grace’s desire not to discuss him, and they end up enjoying Kevin’s time with them the next couple of days.
Grace won’t admit she’s rattled by what Kev told her, but she’s also not going to let it stop her from living her life. She’s safe; she’s happy; she’s found her family, and she is only a few weeks away from her wedding. She is not going to let Ryan ruin that. She knows Bradley is more on guard when they go out, and while she understands, she also wishes she could get him to relax more.
She realizes a week after Kevin left that it’s a good thing he’s more on guard because she’s completely caught off guard at work one night. It’d been a busy night; she’s floated between the kitchen and the bar all night. The Daggers had occupied the pool table corner all night, and she’d checked in with them on a break. She hears the kitchen door open and she just assumes it’s Bradley based on the footsteps.
“What are you doing babe?” she laughs without turning around.
“Glad to see I’m still babe.” The voice makes her freeze, the pan in her hand hitting the floor with a clatter. If the jukebox hadn’t been playing, she knows everyone in the bar would’ve heard it.
“What are you doing here?” It comes out quieter than she wishes as she spins around and faces her ex.
“Kevin didn’t pass on my message? I’m hurt,” he feigns hurt, his hand going to his heart.
“Oh he did,” she hears growled behind Ryan. She lets out the breath she didn’t realize she was holding hearing Bradley’s voice.
“What the fuck are you doing in here?” Of course Grace should’ve known that Baylie would’ve followed Bradley. She was just as protective as he was, and when Bradley had passed on Kevin’s message, the whole Daggers had been watching her more closely.
“I don’t think this concerns either of you,” Ryan sneered. Baylie and Bradley both walk around him, Bradley putting himself between Grace and Ryan, as Baylie pulls her into a hug to make sure she’s ok.
“I don’t think customers are allowed in the kitchen. So gonna have to ask you to leave.”
“Not til I talk to my wife.”
“Ryan just leave. There’s nothing left to say. We’ve been over for a long time. You finally signed the fucking papers remember? So just leave.”
“Last I checked, she was EX-wife,” Jake says from the doorway, making sure to put emphasis on the ex. Grace peeks around Bradley to see Jake, Mickey, Javy and Reuben in the doorway. She knows if they’re loud enough, Ice, Mav and Slider will join them.
“Not until we talk.” His voice was full of anger at their audience, and she knew he was a stubborn bastard.
“I have nothing to say to you.”
“I have plenty to say to you, bitch!”
Bradley has to physically hold Baylie back at that.
 “Penny, my dear?”
“Yes Jake?” she yells from the bar.
“Can we skip the bell?”
Grace doesn’t like that gleam in Jake’s eye. She knows things are fixing to get ugly.
“Jake, no!” She steps around Bradley and Baylie despite both of their protests. “I’m not the same young naive girl you manipulated and abused. You don’t get to walk into my place of business and start shit. Kev told you to fuck off and maybe you should’ve listened. You’ve got three seconds to get your sleazy ass out of my kitchen or I’m letting them throw you out. And if you ever set foot in this bar or kitchen again, I will throw your ass in jail faster than you can say my name. Get the fuck out Ryan and never come back. Forget you ever knew me.”
Ryan growls and moves to lunge, but Jake grabs him. “You heard the lady. Out!”
Javy grabs his other arm and they drag him kicking and screaming out of the bar. Jake still gets to dump him in the sand, Mickey and Reuben grabbing his feet once out of the kitchen.
“Damn babe that was hot,” Baylie praises.
Grace turns red, as she shakes her head. “I’m…”
“Don’t you dare,” Baylie tells her hugging her tight. “We should go file a restraining order,” she suggests to Grace seeing Bradley’s agreement.
Once Grace pulls back from Baylie, she sinks into Bradley’s arm. “Bay’s right. The squad can clean up in here, and we’ll go do that right now. Should call Kev and suggest he do the same.”
“I’m not leaving the cleanup to our friends.”
“Yes you are,” Baylie says, the boys and Cin rejoining them. “We got this right?” They all nod their agreement, and Grace relents. She knows they’re not going to let her stay after that.
“Alright fine. But yall really don’t have to.”
Cin and Baylie pull her into hugs. “Go. We got this.”
“Thank you,” she whispers. She lets Bradley tuck her under his arm as they head out. Thankfully they don’t see Ryan anywhere around as they head to the Bronco. “You ok?” He asks her once they’re settled.
Her hands are shaking as he pulls out and heads to the nearest station. “Yea… Yea… I just… I didn’t think he would do anything now. Hell, we've been separated for almost six years! I don’t understand.” She feels tears of frustration well in her eyes and she hates it. Hates that he’s still fucking with her life.
“Hey… Hey it’s ok. We’re fine. Grace look at me.” He squeezes her knee as he drives. “It’s going to be ok. Why don’t you go ahead and call Kev?”
She takes a deep breath and nods. The conversation goes about as she expected. Kevin wants to come out and kill the bastard, but Grace is able to convince him not to take anymore time away from his business since he’s bringing the girls in a few weeks for the wedding and staying for two whole weeks. She promises that Bradley and their friends have it handled and they’re going to get a restraining order at the moment. Talking to Kevin calms her some, and besides stopping by the house to get a copy of the divorce papers, they’re at the station within thirty minutes of leaving the Hard Deck.
Getting the restraining order went easier than she expected, and she’s exhausted by the time they get home. Bradley sends a group text to update the Daggers and his uncles while Grace gets ready for bed. She’s asleep as soon as her head hits the bed, snuggled safely into Bradley’s side. It takes him longer to fall asleep; he’s going to kill that bastard if he shows his face again. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do to protect his girl.
They’re lulled into a false sense of security over the next few days; Ryan doesn’t show his face again, and they assume he’s gone back across the country. Despite that, Grace is rarely alone, so that might have something to do with it. The retired Flyboys take up residence at the Hard Deck while Grace is there and the Daggers are still on base. And once the Daggers are free, someone is always glued to her side. She appreciates it, she really does, but she also hates how they’re changing their lives for her. Which is why after four days of no sighting, she’s able to convince the girls to pick her up at her house to go for her final dress fitting later in the morning, instead of being there as soon as Bradley leaves.
She hears a car pull up outside, and while it’s a little early, she’s not surprised. She gathers up her things, heads out the door and locks it. “Good thing I was ready early,” she calls over her shoulder with a laugh.
She expects to hear some laughter and teasing from the girls, so when she turns around and sees Ryan standing at the bottom of her steps, she freezes. Her hands clutch the keys tighter, and she turns to open the door once more, but he’s right there grabbing her wrist, stopping her.
“Let me go!” She wrenches her wrist away and backs up. “I have a restraining order against you. You have three seconds to get away from me, or I’m calling the cops!”
His hand jerks her phone from her, throwing it across the yard.
“Ryan, you don’t want to do this. We’re over. Done! You signed the fucking papers. Go home!”
“I signed them because you were costing me so much money!!!” he screams. She backs up again, but she’s quickly running out of room. “Every time I had to pay. Money! You cost me money! We were good baby, so good,” his hand brushes her cheek and she flinches. She’s praying the girls will be early now.
“Ryan. Leave. Just leave.”
“It took me three years to fucking find you.” His hand grips her jaw, and she bites back the whimper. She refuses to give in to him now. “Three years!” His hand moves from her jaw to her neck, pinning her against the house.
“Ryan,” she gasps as he squeezes harder. Her hands try to pry his hands away; she brings her knee up, but he backs away. “No I don’t think so bitch! You ruined me. Ruined my name all over town. You’re not even worth it! You weren’t good at anything, especially not the sex! But fuck if I’m letting you go now! If I can't have you then no one will!"
His hand gets tighter, just as Grace hears a car door slamming. She hears voices, but she’s too busy trying not to pass out.
“What the fuck?!” Ryan screams as he lets her go. Grace collapses to the porch, panting for breath. She just barely registers Baylie on Ryan’s back. In the next instant Baylie is around in front of him, punching the daylights out of him. She vaguely registers Alana’s voice somewhere and she slumps against the house working on her breath.
Ryan falls down the steps as Baylie takes his knees out. He’s screaming and cussing, but he doesn’t stand a chance against Grace’s overprotective best friend. Grace hears bone crush as her breathing finally starts evening out. “Baylie. Don’t. He’s. Not. Worth. It,” she pants.
Baylie doesn’t hear her though, and when Ryan goes to swing at her, Grace screams before she sees Alana taser him. Ryan flops on the ground before going still. Baylie gets another punch in, splitting his lip. Her hands are busted and bloody, and they’re just pulling the taser strings off, when another vehicle skids in.
“GRACE!”
She lets out a sob when she hears Bradley. He’s in front of her before she knows it, his hands gently pulling her into his arms. “I got you baby. I got you. You’re ok.” He murmurs it over and over, as he rocks her. Grace clings to him, burying her face in his neck. He glances over his shoulder to see Mickey checking over Baylie and Jake and Alana talking. Ryan starts coming too just as the cops arrive.
Jake and Mickey step between him and the girls, Jake’s boot pushing him back onto the ground. Bradley is a little surprised to see his Uncle Ice and Uncle Slider pull in behind the cops.
“What the hell happened?” Slider asks, running over to check on Grace.
Baylie and Alana are already crouching beside her and Bradley and Grace finally uncurls from Bradley’s chest. Bradley is finally able to inspect the bruising around her neck, and Slider sees the instant the unleashed anger is begging to let loose. His hand settles on Bradley’s shoulder squeezing, effectively keeping him in place. Ice had joined them, after making sure Ryan wouldn’t come near them for the moment until they figured out what had happened.
“We were coming to get her to go for the final dress fitting, and when we got here, the bastard had her pinned against the house by her neck.” Baylie is still fuming, but Mickey is rubbing her back and holding her close which seems to be working to calm her.
Bradley growls until he sees Grace shrink into herself some more, and he takes a deep breath blowing it out. He pulls her back into his arms, burying his face into her hair just breathing her in. “She was safe. She was in his arms. Nothing like this would happen again,” he kept repeating in his head as he held her.  “I called Bradley then the cops, and Lucky girl just attacked,” Cin chuckles. “When he went to swing at Bay, I tased him.”
Ice and Slider exchange looks. “B, Grace has to give her statement. Why don’t you go in and get the restraining order and we’ll stay with her.”
“No. I’m not leaving her.”
“I’ll get it,” Slider says, heading off an argument between Bradley and Ice. They rarely happened, but Slider still remembers B’s teen years when he took them all on at times.
“It’s in the safe.” Bradley didn’t have to give the code, all his uncles knowing it.
Bradley softly kisses Grace’s head. “Come on baby. Let’s get this over with.” He helps her up, tipping her chin up. He softly wipes her tears, his hand gently brushing over the bruise. He gives her a soft kiss before wrapping his arm around her shoulder. Baylie takes up her other side, Alana beside Bay. Jake and Mickey follow behind with Ice. Slider quickly rejoins them with a copy of the restraining order.
Grace recounts what happens, Baylie and Alana offering up their parts. Bradley would tear him out of the cop car and beat him to death if Jake and Mickey didn’t have their hands on his shoulders and Ice and Slider weren’t standing between him and the car.  “Get him out of here,” Ice declares, feeling the rage radiating off his nephew once the girls are done with their statements. “And make sure they know we are pressing charges.”
Grace sinks deeper into Bradley’s side and she’s grateful when Ryan is gone. “We’ll call the shop and reschedule,” Baylie offers.
“Thanks,” Grace whispers. She turns to hug both of her friends tight. “Are you ok?” She asks Baylie.
“More than fine babe.”
“Should let Mickey clean you up,” she offers Bay a small smile.
“Should probably stop fighting so much,” Bradley mutters. “But this time you get a pass.” He gives Baylie and Alana hugs for saving his girl. Bradley takes Grace inside to check her over; Jake and Mickey leave with their girls, the girls promising to get her another appointment soon. Slider text Whiskey to make the kids some food, while Ice text Mav to see if the hanger is unlocked so they can get the kids out of there for the night. With a solid plan in place, they depart as well.
Bradley has Grace sitting on the counter in their bathroom checking her over. “You sure you’re ok?”
Her hand reaches up to cradle his face. Her voice is a little rough, and Bradley has her drinking water to help. “Yea, I’m ok,” she promises. “It.. Yea I was terrified there for a minute, but… the girls showed up just in time.”
She rests her head against his chest just listening to his heartbeat as his hands rubbed up and down her back. “I’m sorry,” she whispers causing Bradley to freeze.
“Grace… baby… you have absolutely nothing to be sorry about.”  His hands pull her head up and cradles her face between his hands. “This is not your fault. You didn’t ask for this.” He gently wipes her tear tracks before his hand gently cradles her neck. The handprint infuriates him to no end; he feels her hands lay over his, and he drags his eyes up to hers.
“I’m ok. I’m right here.”
He kisses her hard at that as he holds her close. The ringing of his phone breaks their kiss. “Hey Aunt Whiskey, you’re on speaker.”
“Hey kiddos. I’ve got you some food, and your uncles have a plan for tonight. So let me in?”
“Yes mam,” Bradley chuckles. He helps Grace down and they go back to the front door. Whiskey passes the basket of food to Bradley as soon as the door is open, and then she’s pulling her baby into her arms. “I’m ok,” Grace repeats as she sinks into Whiskey’s hold.
They slowly pull back as Bradley inspects the basket. “What’s all this for?”
“You two are going out to the desert for tonight. You still have your key right B?”
“To Mav’s? Yea?”
“Ok good. Take that basket of food, yourselves and some clothes and get out of here. Oh and Mav says everything there is good to use.”
“Wait. Are you saying…?”
“Yes. Mav said go for it.” Bradley absolutely lights up at that, even though Grace is confused. Bradley hugs Whiskey tight. “Thanks Aunt Whiskey.”
“Wasn’t my idea kiddo. Was all your Uncles.”
“I’ll text them on the way.” He gives his aunt another hug and smile, before she hugs Grace and takes her leave.
“Bradley what is happening?” Grace asks as he starts throwing some clothes into a duffle.
“Mav’s letting me fly the P-51 without him!”
“What? Seriously?”
“Apparently.” He pulls her into a tight hug. “You wanna go flying baby?”
He helps Grace up into the plane before joining her. He taxis out of the hanger, and they’re in the air before she knows it. It’s exhilarating and gorgeous, and it’s really amazing seeing Bradley in his element. She falls more in love with him every day, but there's something special watching him fly. They fly around for about two hours, both of them relaxing and forgetting the day. When they land, Bradley is not surprised to see Mav there. Mav helps Grace down and pulls them both into hugs, relieved to see and feel that his kids are ok. They head into the hanger to eat and relax, Mav providing plenty of stories as distractions to keep them from thinking about the disaster earlier.
“With you? Always,” she smiles. She is terrified of heights and he knows it, but she also trusts him more than anything. They get to the hanger in about three hours, Grace facetiming Kev on the way. She reassures him that all is ok and that Ryan is in jail, but that she also can't wait to see him. She loves Bradley and her family here, but she would kill for one of her brothers hugs right now.
"Hey. Go enjoy flying for thr first time and I'll see you in a couple weeks ok?"
"Yea Kev. Will do. Love you."
"Love you too lil bit."
Bradley parks the Bronco out of the way once they arrive. He leads her inside, and while she’s been there several times with him, it’s the first time they’ve been there alone. Bradley checks the plane over; he’d called Mav on the way to make sure it really was ok, and he was elated when Mav gave his explicit permission once more.
Ryan is in court the next week; he thankfully pleads guilty and they don’t have to go to trial. Now that he’s thankfully locked away and out of their lives, they turn their focus back to the wedding in a couple of weeks. It’s going to be the best wedding ever.

Two Plus Signs = We’re Parents!
Tumblr media
A Papa Mine Drabble
Summary: After being married for a couple of years and no children, Tom & Rachael get a surprise in the form of a lil baby Baylie!
{masterlist📚} {previous chapter 📎} {next chapter📖}
Tumblr media
Rachael and Tom had been married for three years and always dream of being a family one day, but after too many negative pregnancy tests, their dream seemed like it would never happen.
When she took the tests, it was more as a joke than anything. Rachael had seen a tik tok of women playing ‘Pregnancy Test Roulett’ and it looked like fun.
Both Jade and herself had felt off for the last couple of weeks and instead of being by theirselves and sad they decided that they would be together and support each other if the tests read negative.
They opened their tests, did their business, then put it in one box and waited the five minutes for the test to develop. Once the timer went off, the excitement and uncertainty coursed through their veins as Rachael ‘mixed’ the box and then held it out to Jade.
They counted to three and flipped the test over, Rachael’s was negative but the test in Jade’s hand had a clear as day solid pink cross in the window.
The women hugged and then stared at the test a while more before coming to the conclusion that they would have to retake the tests to find out which one is actually pregnant.
They wasted no time, grabbing a new test from a box and leaving to use the bathroom in different areas of the house then, they came back into the Masterbath and waited in anticipation for the timer to go off again.
The timer rings and they both rush to the counter to see the results. Jade looks at hers and feels upset, unlike Rachael and Tom, her and Ron had been actively trying for years to be blessed with a child again after losing the twins.
Rachael felt bad about her amazing news, but knew that Jade would put her own grieving aside for her friend for now. Rachael was sobbing, finally feeling the excitement roll away like an afternoon tide and the worry and fear come in.
Then came the thought of what Tom would say about this. He never had the best relationship with his own father and that scared him on the type of dad he would be for his children. Rachael knew he’d be the best dad to however many children they have in the future.
It wasn’t long till the chaotic pair came up with a fantastic way to tell Tom the news while he’s up in the air with the boys doing drills.
Rachael put the positive tests in her purse before the two women left to go to the dollar store. The little corner shop wasn’t very busy, being that it was the afternoon when they arrived.
Rachael gave a bare description of her idea to Jade before the women split up and went searching for the items they needed for the surprise.
Once they were done, Rachael & Jade drove to the base and walked to the men’s locker room.
She found Tom’s space quickly and put in the combination, opening it and the women started to decorate. When they finished, they left the base soon before the guys landed and came to clean up.
Rachael and Jade giggled like school girls as they scurried to the car, making everyone in the hallways stare at them crazily. The car ride home had the same energy as when they left, chaotic and wonderful.
Both women were excited for the next chapter in their lives and knew that they would be there for each other no matter what.
Rachael couldn’t wait for Tom to come home and for them to celebrate the small life growing in her.
As she waited for Tom to come home Rachael covered herself with many blankets and was surrounded by lots of different snacks while she watched some Disney movies.
The time would pass slowly, but maybe that’s what she needed from all the excitement that the day brought.
When she woke up by her loving husband, she was confused by what time it was. Rachael could’ve remembered it was only two when she fell asleep and now it’s six.
That power nap took longer than expected, did she not hear her alarm?
Tom chuckled at her as he bent down and kissed her, when he came back up for air he reached behind himself to the coffee table and grabbed the gift bag, then placed it softly in her lap.
“I want spicy pizza for dinner, does that sound good to you?”
Tom nodded, “For you, I’d do anything babe.”
“What's this? You didn’t get me anything right?” asked Rachael when she finally saw the bag in her lap.
“No, when I got into base today the guys had gifts for us waiting in my locker. They’re excited for the first kid of the squad to be born.”
“Well Bradley’s four so their a little late on that front don’t you think Tom?” she replied, a small smirk on her beautiful features.
Tom just rolled his eyes at his wife and nodded towards the bag, “Open it, I’ll start dinner while you’re doing that. I think you’ll love the gifts.”
Rach grabs his arm before he can walk away completely, “No, stay with me. I want you by my side.”
Tom snuggled in under the blankets and sat back watching her as she reacted to each gift. Rachael was amazed by the small clothes and other baby things that the guys, most likely their wives or girlfriends, picked out for Tom and herself.
The squad had big hearts but didn’t show it very often due to the cutthroat competition that the Navy brought in and off of the bases.
Both Rachael and Tom had met during one of the biggest competitions in their lives, being at Top Gun and graduating first was a great honor to have under your belt.
Unfortunately Rachael didn’t win but what she did get out of the experience is lifelong friendships and the love of her life.
After the gifts where opened and one last kiss from Ice he walked to the kitchen to start making the spicy pizza she asked for. Rach got up, much to Tom’s displeasure and sat at the bar to watch him.
“You know I don’t need supervision on pizza right? You can’t really mess it up unless you're an idiot like Leonard or Rick.” smirked Tom as he started to lather sauce on the premade dough.
Rachael giggled, “They may be idiots but I think even those boys could handle making a pizza.”
It was low and under his breath, but she did hear a ‘unlikely without at least a little supervision from Duckie or Crick.’
The kitchen echoed the couple’s laughter around, the sound bouncing off the walls as they continued to joke. As the laughter died down it was finally time for the pizza to go into the oven.
Rachael went back to the couch and turned the television to The Great British Bakeoff. They could watch this and snuggle while the food was cooking.
After the timer was set, Tom came back into the living room and sat next to her, laying his head on her lap like he did earlier. Rachael started to run her fingers gently in his blond locks, humming a small tune to herself as she did.
Rachael couldn’t ask for a better husband or father for her child and couldn’t wait for this precious baby to come into their lives and all the chaos that will undoubtedly happen.
Tumblr media
Tom and Ron were just out of the jet when they heard that their wives had been here and left not too long ago. They were wary when they entered the locker room, all the guys were. Rachael and Jade are known around base as the Chaotic Duo.
Everything looked the same, nothing out of place that they could remember. Tom opened his locker and was greeted with pink and blue streamers, a sign that read ‘HI DADDY’ and a grainy black and grey picture with a small bean like shape.
This confused Tom, he couldn’t wrap his head around what all of this meant, he was a smart man, if he said so himself, but this had him stumped.
Ron was curious about what had the great Tom Kazansky frozen and with a confused face, so he walked over and saw the sign, “We didn’t need to know the kinky shit that goes on in your bedroom Kazansky.”
This caught more pilots’ attention and they made their way to his locker. Goose was the first to speak from the new crowd, “Oh, congrats Ice! Im glad that Bradley will have a buddy to play with now.” Goose clapped him on the back as the others cheered and hollered for him.
Tom was still staring at the little picture, ignoring everyone else until the seemingly last two braincells finally rubbed together and clicked. Rachael was pregnant. Rachael was pregnant and he would be a father, this scared him to death.
He doesn’t want to be just like his father and be strict and abusive to his family, but he knew that Rachael wouldn’t have married him if he was.
Tom had that little grainy picture in his hand as he left the base, mind constantly on the little bean from the photo. He was going to be a father, and he couldn’t be more happy about it.
Once he was safely inside the house from prying eyes, he ran around and tried to find his wife. Rach sat in the kitchen, dinner already fixed and table set. He ran up to her, picking her up and spun around before letting her down and kissing her passionately.
Tom was so in love with her and knew that he’d love this baby just as much. When dinner was done and leftovers put away, the adrenaline had mostly worn off and he went back to that dark headspace of being like his own father.
Rach sat on the couch with Tom’s head in her lap, softly combing his hair while they watched a movie. She looked down and saw that concerned face on her husband, stopping her movements in his hair. “What’s the matter baby?”
Tom turned his body to look at her head-on, voicing his dilemma to his wonderful and understanding wife. “I’m scared I’ll end up being like my father and I don’t want to be like him to my own kids.”
Rachael smoothed his hair back, kissing his cheek, “You take such good care of me and you’ll take such good care of them too.”
He tried to speak, but Rach cut him off before he could protest, “You, Thomas Kazansky, are nothing like your father and you’ll be the best dad in the world, I just know it.”
Tom couldn’t help the tears that split over the heartwarming words of encouragement from his amazing wife. She would never truly know how much that meant to him.
The couple spent the rest of the night in each other’s arms, not wanting to ever let go. Tom’s hand never left Rachael’s stomach while they lie together in bed that night.
The next day, Tom went into base with his head clear of doubt and acted like nothing had happened yesterday. He would put on that ‘Ice cold’ persona he always had while at work and get through the day so he could go back to spoiling his wife and unborn child.
Tom entered the locker room and opened his cubby, making the horribly stacked presents inside fall to the ground. He picked them up and carefully looked at each one. Maybe they put them in the wrong locker, but Tom couldn’t remember if it was anyone’s birthday from the squadron.
As he was looking around the guys settled and smiled or smirked at him as he continued to try to figure this mystery out.
Tom just didn’t understand why they would be giving him gifts, it wasn’t his birthday, that wasn’t until the next coming year.
Finally Ron had enough of his pilot’s stupidity, “They’re for you, surprisingly, you’re the first one in this new squadron to be a dad on purpose.”
Goose started to protest but was silenced quickly with realization that Bradley had been born some years prior to the squad’s union.
“Go ahead and open them Ice,” Mav clapped his shoulders and handed him a present that had been on the floor previously.
He was cautious as he ripped open the gift paper and the box, finding a hat inside that read ‘#1 Dad’. Ice will never omit it, but a few tears did sneak out at the gift.
Everyone around him thought that he’d be a great dad too, which was the reassurance he never knew he would need.
The pilots who had become like brothers to him and his wife had faith that he could be the best of the best in fatherhood too.
Tom knew that his little family would have so much love and support from the start and he couldn’t ask for a better found family.
“Those better be happy tears man, you’re gonna be a dad!”
“You're gonna love it, it's the best life experience ever, trust me.”
Tom opened the next gift, finding a baby sized flight suit and aviator sunglasses. “Rach is gonna love this, she’s hoping that the kid likes to fly like their parents.”
“Knowing you Ice, the kid’s gonna love being in the sky.” The room erupted in laughter, agreeing whole heartily with Sundown’s comment.
Tom opened a few more gifts before saying his thank yous and they were all called to a meeting with Viper about drills and manuvers that they could use during missions.
After the busy day all Tom wanted to do was lay his head on his wife’s lap and be near the two of them. He gathered his dufflebag and the gifts from the guys and went home.
Tom couldn’t wait for Rachael’s reaction to what the guys had given him earlier that day.
He knew that Rach would have a field day on the little clothes and toys, just like he did. Tom wasted no time in arriving at his house and finding his wife sitting on the couch under a massive pile of blankets with all kinds of snacks around her sleeping form.
He couldn’t help but think she was an angel sent down for him from God himself with how beautiful she looked. He regrettably had to wake her so he could show the presents and to ask what she wanted for dinner.
He had woke her up and greeted her with a sweet kiss before he had handed her the gift bag out of his duffle.
As Rachael pulled out each item, she laughed and awed at the thoughtfulness of the men they worked with. The last gift that she saw was a blush pink hat that said ‘#1 Mom,’ which had her crying.
The group of pilots had a high admiration for the couple. Tom had pulled out the matching ‘#1 Dad’ hat and placed it on his head, doing the same to Rach and kissing her softly.
They had no doubt that they could be the best parents for this baby.

To say the least, the Kerner’s didn’t know what to say or expect when their baby girl was born. Amanda’s skin was fair, eyes a beautiful royal blue, and hair as dark as Jade’s chocolate brown curls.
Ron and Jade’s skin was tan or olive in color, dark haired, and brown eyes, nothing like that shown in their mini-me. As she grew, her hair became blonde and had red strands woven in the mix of wild waves upon her head, skin still fair and sensitive, and eyes looking more and more like the deepest of oceans.
Amanda looked more like her paternal grandparents. Her grandmother, Adalaide, who was fair skinned, deep ocean blue eyes, and red hair. Her grandfather, Felix, had tanned skin, brown eyes, and blonde hair.
If you didn’t know better, you’d think that Amanda looked a little bit more like a Kazansky then a Kerner and Baylie, a Kerner more than a Kazansky.
Tom Kazansky, Ron’s best friend and pilot, had sky blue eyes and blond hair. Rachael, his wife, had sky blue eyes, fair skin, and chestnut brown hair. Baylie, their daughter, had beautiful olive skin, brown-grey eyes, and dark chocolate brown hair.
Both girls the complete opposite of their biological parents, but similar to the other couple. Everyone around that knew the families would never question who’s daughter’s who’s, but they didn’t really care either.
At Top Gun, all the aviators in the squadrons were very close and saw each other as family.
Children, on the other hand, are very curious and don’t have a filter. And most of the time parents' rudeness and other traits are a learned behavior, just like their grandparents taught them.
So it wasn’t a big surprise when the first-grade bully, Lucas Bramley, decided to pick on Baylie and Amanda because they looked different than their Mommies and Daddies. “Why don’t you look like youse mommy and daddy?”
The girls’ did the big kid thing and turned the other cheek, but as the day went on and the comments got worst, it started to get on their nerves.
They had told the teacher about the comments and all she did was take him outside and talk to him each time and Luke still wouldn’t stop.
Baylie has a better control on her temper at this young of age than Amanda does, and many times did Mousey have to distract her while Bay took charge of the situation. As the day came to an end and Luke followed them around, Bay had finally cracked.
“I fink that Baylie is really Mister Ron’s and that Amanda is really Mister Tom’s. Yous don’t look like yous belong to the right Mommies and Daddies!” Bay had held her tongue and fists all day and had enough of this stupid-head.
It took merely seconds for Bay’s tiny balled up hands to punch Lucas’ face, a satisfying crunch noise echoed round the quiet classroom.
Mousey was shy, but just as over it as her sisters were at the boy, and copied her sister’s actions, punching him again in the face.
Ms. Hart, the teacher, rushed over and comforted a wailing Luke while the assistant, Ms. Jordan, took the Kazansky girls and Amanda to the Principal’s Office to talk about the rules of behavior in the classroom.
Once Lucas was feeling better and had an icepack against his bloody and slightly sideways nose, parents were called.
Of course, since the Kerner’s and Kazansky’s were aviators it took a long period of time to get ahold of them, but when the message was finally received after they all landed, the parents all headed over to the school.
Tom and Rachael knew that their daughters wouldn’t hit anyone unless provoked, they taught them better than to just swing without reason.
When the three couples arrived, all were sat down with the children and the principal and told to tell the tale of why they chose violence.
Bay was the first to speak up, cutting Luke’s remark off before he couldn’t tell a lie and get out of the trouble he deserves.
“He was walking around and spreading lies Mama! He says that me and Mana weren’t born to the right Mommy and Daddys ‘cause we don’t look like yous!”
“We told Ms. Hart, but alls she did was take ‘im to the hallway and talk to hims! He comes back in and do it all over again!” announced Ray, immediately going back to folding into herself and looking away from the group.
“Luke even made Mana cry, he deserved the punch for being a stupid-head!” with the stern look from her parents, Bay sat back down in the small plastic chairs, pudgy arms folded over her chest like her dad.
The Principal took in the information and nodded as he came up with the punishment fit for the crime. “Now that we have heard Baylie and Raven’s point of views, I’d like to hear Amanda’s and Lucas’, it’s only fair.”
“I didn’t say nothin’! They make that up-”
“No we not!” shouted Amanda, as she jumped out of her seat, face red hot and scrunched up in anger. Ron gently grabbed his daughter’s arm and held her to his chest to calm her down, by letting her listen to his heartbeat.
The soothing rhythm took affect almost immediately, her little round arms wrapped around her father’s neck as she sat in his lap to hear it better, further lulling her anger from before.
“He did say that about our Mommys’ and Daddies. Luke been being mean to us for months, saying that Daddy leaves ‘cause he don’t love me.”
Tom and Ron’s head whips to the little boy, anger stored in their eyes as they glare at him and the parents for not disciplining their child for the wrong and bad behavior he shows.
Mr. and Mrs. Bramley have their heads held high, smirks on their snobby and rich faces. Ron figures that’s where their son gets his entitlement from. Like parent, like child.
Rachael takes action, the reason why her callsign is Dragon coming to light. Using a nice and firm voice, “Tom and Ron are aviators for the Navy and sometimes the Navy has to send them away to fight the bad guys so we can stay a free country.”
Mrs. Sobby harshly grabs her son by the arm and rips him back towards her and her husband, taking no mind to the boy’s whines and whimpers.
“Don’t talk to my Lucas like he’s stupid. He’s very smart, the smartest child here no doubt, and this school is for the ‘gifted’ children, not brats like your daughters.” she snarked, Mr. Sobby behind her and smirk still proudly on his face.
“I’m sorry, did you say ‘brats’ when you addressed our girls? Because the last I checked, my daughter, nor do my nieces, act like they own and are handed everything because Ron and I are too busy to actually take care of our kids.”
“How dare you talk to me like that, do you even know who you’re talking to in that tone?”
“No, and to be honest, I don’t care. This is about your son acting out in school and bullying our daughters because he thinks that’s ok. You need to learn how to behave and then teach your son. Come on girls, let’s go to base.
As the Kerner’s and Kazansky’s left they were told that the children would be suspended for three days for fighting but would be allowed back next week.
The families started to drive back and as they did Rachael and Jade had been chatting over messages and had agreed that the girls deserved some sort of treat for staying patient as long as they did and for standing up for each other.
The parents were very proud of their daughters and knew that their aunts and uncles would be too.
Bay realized first that they weren’t on the way home and stared wide-eyed at her father, who had a knowing smirk on his lips through the rearview mirror.
Bay couldn’t contain her excitement and screamed which caused Raven to look over and start stiming by shaking her hands enthusiastically and jumping up and down in her booster seat.
Rachael looked behind her and started to giggle at her daughters’ reactions, tapping Tom on his shoulder and pointing to the backseats.
Once the car had stopped, Bay was out of her booster seat, yanking the car door open and jumping out as Ron and Jade’s car had parked beside their own.
Raven was close behind her sister, waiting for her dad to grab their hands so they could walk across the street.
Ron had Amanda on his back getting ready to carry her and asking her about the dessert she would get while holding Jade’s hand lovingly.
The small group had made their way into the Dairy Queen and ordered, the children picked out the booth they would all sit at and started to eat their treats.
It wasn’t long before little Bradley had opened the door and soon Carole, Nick, and Scarlett weren’t far behind, then Leo and Cricket, Rick and Duckie, and so many others had arrived and sat down to celebrate with them.
When it was time to go back to base, everyone said their goodbyes and told the girls how proud they were of them.
Tom and Ron carried their daughters to the car and the couples said their own goodbyes and planned playdates for the next couple of days.
The girls were put to bed soon after they got home and the parents watched the CCTV video that the teacher had sent of Bay and Ray punching that spoiled ass kid in his nose, making comments and laughing at his surprised face.
Tom couldn’t wait to show the guys what their nieces did, he knew that there’d be so much laughter and jokes made for years to come.

“Push! Push! Push!” Alana could hear what the doctor was telling her but the exhaustion of the last ten hours made it hard to do what she needed. Nobody was there to help her. Then again she went into labor two months earlier than expected.
Baylie and Mickey were deployed.
Grace and Bradley had gone on a second honeymoon.
“One more push and you can rest.”
SEVEN TO EIGHT MONTHS AGO
It has been a couple of months of secret hookups with Jake after he and his girlfriend, Sydney, had broken up. Having become friends after the uranium mission, Alana was there for Jake throughout his relationship with Sydney and eventually their breakup.
Neither had planned on getting together, but they did after a night of drinking with the rest of the Dagger Squad. It was just a one-time thing, they both agreed. Only that, it turned into friends with benefits.
They managed to keep it a secret for a couple of months. The only time anyone suspected anything was going on between them was the night everything changed. The night of the Navy Awards.
Jake decided it would be best if they carpooled with some of the other members of the squad. So Alana made her way to the base and met up with Jake, Baylie, Mickey, Grace, and Bradley at the rec room.
The girls are quick to hug her and have her spin in her dress. “Wow! You’re looking so beautiful!” Grace tells her.
“Got any plans for later? I’m happy to drop Mickey for you,” Baylie says winking.
Alana blushes. “It’s not too much?”
“It’s not enough. That dress will find you a husband. Hey, maybe some admiral or captain will scoop you up,” Baylie teases.
Jake ignores them and glances at his watch. “We should get going.” Bradley and Mickey each take their girl’s hand in theirs and lead the way to the limousine. Jake keeps his hand on Alana’s lower back.
Once they arrive at the venue, they all go their separate ways. Eventually, they are all seated together, as the majority of them would be receiving medals. The only ones at their table to not receive one were Alana and Grace.
The ceremony moves along pretty quickly and soon comes the drinking and dancing. Alana mostly sat and watched everyone. Jake had been chatting with Admiral Kazansky and Vice Admiral Simpson. His smile was huge when he returned.
Instead of sitting, he offered Alana his hand so they could dance. The DJ had been playing a few upbeat songs in a row. As they danced and laughed, the music changed into a slow song. Dance With You by Brett Young begins to play and Alana moves to go sit down but Jake holds her hand. “Is one slow song going to kill you?”
“No. But people might get ideas.”
“Let them. We’re just two single friends enjoying a dance.”
“Right. Two single friends,” Alana repeats, her cheeks warm from embarrassment, thinking he would maybe officially ask her out.
After the song finished, they returned to the table, only to find their friends smirking at them.
“What’s with the smirks?” Jake asks.
“You tell us,” Baylie replies.
“We’re just two single friends enjoying a party with drinks that the Navy is paying for,” Alana says quickly. “So tell, me again who do I bribe to get a shiny medal like that?” She teases in order to change the topic.
The evening soon becomes midnight and they all decide it’s time to go home to rest. The only ones to not go home were Jake and Alana. They headed to a downtown hotel to spend the night together.
He said, "Let's get out of this town
Drive out of the city, away from the crowds"
I thought Heaven can't help me now
Nothing lasts forever
But this is gonna take me down
FIVE MONTHS AGO
She was pacing along her hallway as she waited for the timer to go off. Before she could hear the timer, her stomach betrays her. Alana runs to the bathroom, for the third time that morning, with intense waves of nausea hitting and she throws up into the toilet.
Alana knew she had to tell Jake. She knew he deserved to know the truth. She recalled their last night together. It had been their most passionate night of pleasure for the both of them. When she woke up alone the next morning, there was a note on the pillow saying he’d see her later.
Hours later, he showed up at her house. He had gotten a call from Sydney. They were going to try and work things out and get back together again. Then he dropped the bomb: Sydney was a few months pregnant. After that day, Alana didn’t get many chances to talk to him, as he got deployed overseas.
Say you'll remember me
Standing in a nice dress
Staring at the sunset, babe
Red lips and rosy cheeks
Say you'll see me again
Even if it's just in your wildest dreams, ah-ah, ha
Wildest dreams, ah-ah, ha
The timer rings and she looks at the tests. Three positive pregnancy tests were staring back at her. This wasn’t in her plan. Sure she wanted to be a mother. But she never wanted to be a single mother. She lets herself cry for a few minutes before going to get her phone and trying to call Jake.
She calls and calls. No answer. She send him a few texts to please call her but they all say “Not Delivered”.
The next person she calls is her physician, whom she asks to go in for an appointment for that day. Once the doctor confirmed that yes she is pregnant, Alana called out sick the next day. She didn’t have the luxury of just resting. She found herself spending more time throwing up than anything.
FOUR MONTHS AGO
She made it past her first trimester so she knew she needed to tell her friends. Alana scoured through Pinterest to get ideas but there were so many she couldn’t decide. But then she spotted a food-related one, just in time for her turn to host their next movie night.
The day passed by quickly and soon the two couples arrived for movie night. Bradley and Mickey kept trying to set her up with other pilots but she always turned them down. She knew no reasonable pilot would want to date a pregnant plus-size woman that was their superior.
Alana had the boxes of pizza and donuts ready. Her plan was to have Grace and Baylie each open one of the boxes. The squeals are loud and they both run to hug her.
Immediately the questions come out. “Who’s the father? Does he know? Can I be the Daddy?”
Alana knew she didn’t want to lie to her best friends, but she couldn’t outright tell them it was Jake. Not before she got the chance to tell him. “It was some guy… He’s no longer in my life. He doesn’t know. I’ve tried calling and texting but I think he blocked me.”
“Thank goodness it isn’t Jake’s,” Baylie said. “That night at the awards I could have sworn you guys had something going on.”
“You two were basically eye fucking each other while you were dancing,” Bradley adds as he takes a bit of his pizza.
Alana chuckles. “Yeah. That would have been… something.”
Grace notices Alana nervously playing with her bracelet. ‘What if Jake is the dad…?’ She begins to wonder. She’s distracted as she thinks back to encounters or outings they all shared and how Jake and Alana behaved together.
“Earth to Grace! We were asking you what you think the baby would be and whose last name it should have.”
“I want it to be a little girl. Imagine all the dresses and bows we’ll buy her!” The girls are soon diving deep into talks of nursery themes, colors, and baby shower themes.
TWO MONTHS AGO
The doctor, along with Alana, was surprised that she had actually lost some weight instead of gaining. It had happened before but it wasn’t as common as the weight gain. “I guess your little one is kickstarting your metabolism.”
“Yeah, I guess she is.”
“So do you already have a name picked out?”
“Samantha Belle.”
“That’s a beautiful name. I know I’ve asked you but any news from the father?”
“No. But I can give you the names of those I want in the room with me.”
Alana gives the doctor the names of Baylie and Grace, as well as their phone numbers.
When she gets to the base, Baylie is waiting for Alana in her office. “Hey, Bay! What’s going on?”
“I got my papers. Mickey and I both did. We’re getting deployed tomorrow. It’s for a few months. I…” she gets choked up. “Babe… I don’t know if we’ll be back in time for the baby.”
Alana shakes her head. “No. I can fight it. I can talk to Ice…” Her eyes fill with tears.
Baylie takes her hands in hers and gives them a squeeze. “I tried babe. I even claimed it was mine to also get maternity leave… Guess it doesn’t work like that.” She then pulls her into a tight hug. “I’ll sneak out if I have to come see you.”
“I love you Baylie. Go and kick ass. I’ll tell your niece you’re being an example for her.”
TWO WEEKS AGO
“So, Bradley surprised me with a trip to Greece. For a second honeymoon!” Grace says excitedly over the phone.
Alana can’t help the small pang of jealousy. Here was her friend going on a second honeymoon and here she was about to be a single mother.
“That’s freaking fantastic Grace!”
“I know! And we leave in a week. I know you’re still a couple of months away from having the baby but we’ll be back in time.”
“Yeah no yeah. Take your time. Enjoy your honeymoon love. And Greece! That’s just amazing!”
YESTERDAY
Alana struggled to reach for the milk container that was towards the back. “Why can’t they think of short pregnant people?” She mutters to herself. She’s about to give up when a hand reaches for the carton and places it on her cart.
“Here you go mis- Alana?” Jake asks in surprise.
“Jake! You’re back?” Alana replies.
He nods. “Just got back last night.” His eyes widen when he sees her ever-growing stomach. “I guess congratulations are in order.” His eyes skim her left hand but there’s no ring or no tan line of one.
“Yeah. She was a complete surprise.”
“It’s a girl?” His eyes soften. “She’ll be beautiful… Do you need any help getting things?”
“I could use some help. Baylie and Grace aren’t in town today.” Before she can say more, he puts his basket in her cart and pushes her cart.
“What about the father?”
Alana exhales slowly and winces at the pain on her side. “Oh, he doesn’t know. It’s not like I haven’t tried. I’ve sent texts and emails, but I guess he just never cared much for me cuz I haven’t heard from him.”
“How far along are you?”
“I’m 7 months pregnant… Forget about me. How’s Sydney and the baby?”
Jake grips the cart handles harder and makes a sudden sharp turn exiting the aisle. “She… I… She lied. It wasn’t my baby. I was there for every appointment. Every class. Only to find out she had been sleeping around on me and it wasn’t mine.”
Alana stops in her tracks and wipes at the tears in her eyes. She was so mad at Sydney for putting him through that but here she was doing all those things alone or with her friends.
While she loved her best friends dearly, it wasn’t the same as having a spouse day in and day out to support you. To help you at home. Yes, they were her found family but she would still be lonely in the nights. Her only constant companion: her unborn baby.
But also anger boiled up in her. Anger at him for ignoring her. Was she not good enough to be acknowledged as having his kid? Was she not pretty enough? Did he just use her to get off while he wasn’t with Sydney?
“I… uhm actually I have to go home. I won’t be able to finish the shopping,” Alana says, starting to make her way to the store entrance.
“Are you sure? I can finish it for you. Just send me your list.”
“No. It’s okay. You’ll only ignore my text as you have for the last seven months!”
Never had he seen or heard her this angry. Then his brain starts catching up with her words. Ignoring. Seven months.
You'll see me in hindsight
Tangled up with you all night
Burning it down
Someday when you leave me
I bet these memories
Follow you around
Alana had already reached the exit and was getting into her car. The pain on her side increases. She calls her OB and the doctor tells her to immediately go to the emergency department.
Jake is torn between getting their groceries and going after Alana. He decides to give her time and then he’ll confront her about the baby. He goes to pay for both their groceries. By the time he made it to the parking lot, Alana was already gone.
PRESENT
“One more push and you can rest.”
Alana grunts as she pushes once more. The sound of a baby crying fills the room. Her eyes just want to close and her body feels ready to stop. “She’s lost too much blood. We need to stop the bleeding!” That’s the last that Alana hears before she decides to just take a quick nap.
The doctors and surgeons rush to stabilize Alana’s vitals and stop the hemorrhaging. It takes them a few minutes but they are able to get the bleeding to stop and they stitch her up.
At the nurses station, one of the nurses is trying to call Alana’s emergency contacts. There’s no response from Baylie or Grace. The next to be called is Viper and then finally they call Dragon.
“Commander Kazansky speaking,” Rachael answers.
“Commander. We’re calling from the base hospital. Commander Metcalf is here. She went into labor early. We have called all her emergency contacts but you’re the only one that has picked up.”
“I’ll be right there.” Rachael hangs up the phone and rushes to Jade’s office. “Whiskey! Let’s go!”
Jade looks startled. “What happened?”
“Cin… She’s in the hospital.”
“Shit! I’ll call Ice from the car while you drive!”
When Alana opens her eyes again, she’s in a private hospital room. Sitting next to her were Rachael and Jade. Mama Dragon and Mama Whiskey.
“Shhh shhh. Don’t try to move much,” Jade tells her.
“Baby… Where’s the baby?”
Rachael steps out of the room and flags down one of the nurses. “Can we have someone bring the baby?”
“She’ll be coming soon, love. The doctors say she’s completely healthy,” Jade pushes some of Alana’s hair out of her face. “How are you feeling?”
“Like complete shit.”
“Oh babe,” Rachael takes one of her hands. “You just went through a lot and so suddenly. Not to mention alone. You are so fucking brave.”
“No, I’m not. I couldn’t keep the baby safe for the full term,” Alana starts crying.
“That doesn’t mean you’re not brave. Every birth and body is different. Think of it like this now: you get earlier access to your baby,” Jade adds.
At that moment, one of the nurses wheels the baby’s cot into the room. “She’s sleeping now.” Alana has Rachael help her slowly sit up to carry the baby.
Jade immediately FaceTimes Grace and Baylie. “Guess who got here early?!”
“Who?” Grace says
“Why are you waking me up from my nap?” Baylie grumbles.
Jade flips the camera to show Alana carrying the baby.
Immediately, both Grace and Baylie are shouting and calling for Bradley and Mickey to join the call. “WIFEY! You didn’t wait for me or Grace?!”
“Baby Samantha wanted to make you hurry home,” Alana says.
“Wait… so you replaced us with Whiskey and Dragon…? Kinda rude but I guess they’re fine,” Baylie replies.
“Actually. We just got here a few moments ago. She had already gone into labor. Alone,” Rachael informs them.
Bradley starts shouting that he’s getting tickets to return home the next day.
“I’ll talk to Ice and Cyclone to get you two back stateside as soon as possible,” Jade tells the other two.
“Yeah. Okay Mama Whiskey. I’ll get our bags ready just in case,” Mickey says.
After a few more minutes of catching up and getting the details of the birth, the girls hang up with a promise to arrive as soon as possible.
Later that afternoon, the others from the squad slowly arrive to visit Alana and meet baby Samantha. Amanda and Raven both bring armloads of gifts. Javy and Natasha brought along snacks. Ron came and dropped off some compression socks and a set of pink fluffy robes: one for Alana and one for Samantha. Tom brought Alana her hospital bag with change of clothes for her and Samantha’s going home outfit.
Once everyone left, Alana laid back down with Samantha on her chest. “Hi princess. It’s you and me right now. Your aunts aren’t here but I know they’re dying to meet you.” Samantha gives a little yawn and squirm, that brings tears to Alana’s eyes. “You’re just so beautiful. You have your daddy’s eyes. They’re a beautiful green. Oh that little scowl is all me and papaw Viper.”
“The Metcalf scowl of disappointment,” comes a voice from the door.
Alana looks up and her heart starts racing when she sees Jake there. “Uh yeah. It’s a Metcalf trademark.”
“Alana… Why… Why didn’t you tell me?”
She shakes her head. “Jake. I texted you. I called and left you a few voicemails. I even emailed you… You know I’d never hide the truth from you.”
Jake takes out his phone and looks through it. “You must have thought you did but you never did. I even would call you to catch up and talk but you blocked me or changed your number. Anytime I called it rang and would direct me to dial 9 to connect to a… To a sex line.”
Alana kisses the top of Samantha’s head and extends her hand. “Gimme your phone.” She manually enters her number and hits dial. “It’s saved as Spam Likely,” she says before looking up the contact. “And it’s blocked.”
He runs a hand through his hair. “I’m going to kill her… That was Sydney. Cin… You know me. We were friends before we…”
“Before we had sex. You can say it Jake. We both agreed that that’s all it’d ever be.”
“But it wasn’t. Not for me… Alana I fell for you. I loved you then. But I was lied to and I did what I thought was right. I still love you because I know you, Alana. Even after all these months I know you would never cruelly let me down or keep this big secret from me. I’m so, so, so sorry that you went through it alone at times. All I ask is that you let me back in. Into your life and now into our baby’s life.”
Alana sniffles and wipes at her eyes. “Jake… Meet our daughter: Samantha Belle Seresin.” She carefully hands the baby over to Jake.
When Sam feels movement, she slowly opens her eyes and coos up at the person holding her. “Hi Samantha. I’m your daddy.”
Samantha coos again and closes her eyes once more to go back to sleep.
Alana’s eyes are also struggling to stay open. Jake carefully shifts her so that she’s comfortable but where there’d be space for him to sleep next to his two girls. She didn’t know it yet, but Jake was already making plans to make them a family of three once they were discharged.
Come morning time, Alana wakes up and smiles seeing Jake reading softly to Samantha. “You changed?” She asks once she notices his blue sweatpants and his white NAVY tank top.
“Yeah I had brought a change of clothes with me. Didn’t want to leave you two.”
As she’s about to reply, energetic shouts come from down the hall. “It’s my baby and I don’t care what he thinks!”
Alana turns to look at Jake. “Ready for the firing squad?”
He leans down and kisses her tenderly. “For you and our baby? Always.”

Sisters: Always There
Tumblr media
⚠️TW: Mentions of cancer, infertility, death.
📝A/N: Divider by @firefly-graphics
Tumblr media
Delilah and Rachael Connelly were inseparable during childhood. They remained like that into adulthood. Nobody could bother one sister without the other one coming to her defense.
One would fall. The other would pick her up.
One would cry over a breakup. The other would comfort her.
One would get grounded. The other would do something to get grounded, unless she was breaking her out of the house.
The biggest and most loving moment was when Rachael volunteered to be Delilah’s surrogate. Delilah had been young when she had to undergo chemotherapy and later a hysterectomy before she could even have a baby.
Rachael always knew that being a mom had been a lifelong dream for Delilah. She talked with Tom to both be on the same page. They both knew that the decision would bring along challenges but they knew it was the best one they could make.
The appointments were made and the procedure went smoothly. It took a few weeks to know for sure if a pregnancy would truly result from the procedure. Sure enough, the embryo stuck and was growing healthily.
As the months passed and the baby kept growing, Rachael and Delilah would talk every day about the plans for their baby. Their favorite and happiest day was the day they found out it was going to be a girl.
“Rach! Did you know that William claims to say it’s his baby too!?” Delilah said laughing one day.
Rachael gasps dramatically. “Just because he’s your husband biologically the dad… who gave him the right to say it’s his baby? She’s ours!”
The sisters just giggled more and continued to shop for baby clothes, toys, and room decor.
The day finally arrives. Baby Baylie Harper Steele was born. Delilah and William had never been as happy as the moment they held her in their arms.
From that day on, they slept very little. Not because Baylie wouldn’t let them sleep. No. They were just so in love and happy with their little miracle that they never wanted to spend time apart from her.
As she was growing, Baylie also became obsessed with her aunt Rachael. This just meant so much to the Steele’s because, if it wasn’t for Rachael, they wouldn’t have Baylie.
Baylie became the daughter Rachael and Tom never had. They were also there for many of her firsts: first steps, first tooth, first word (it was orsey), first haircut.
One night after Baylie’s 3rd birthday, the Steele’s informed their friends that their wish was that the Kazanksy’s would adopt Baylie and the Kerner’s would be her godparents should anything happen to them. The couples all agreed and laughed at how one tiny little beautiful girl could have so many parents.
But because life is not fair, Rachael and Tom were also there for Baylie’s first funeral, the week after she turned 4. It had been a drunk driver the police told them. The driver had T-boned the Steele’s car. William died on impact. Delilah died en route to the hospital.
One day Jade arrived at Rachael’s house with tears in her eyes. She just handed her an envelope that said “For Baylie Steele-Kazansky’s New Mom”.
Rachael broke out in sobs and Jade wrapped her arms around her best friend. “She gave it to me to save in case anything happened to them… I never thought I’d actually give you this letter Rach…”
The friends sat and read the letter and cry some more. Baylie hears them and cries too, still not fully understanding why she can’t see her mommy and daddy.
In the months following the funeral, Rachael and Tom would spend hours in and out of doctors and lawyers offices as they legally adopted Baylie.
From there, they became the first ones to experience many more of Baylie’s first: her first fight in school, her first time helping on the farm, her first broken bone, her first heartbreak. Now that Baylie is back home in Mount Deston, they still will continue to experience more of Baylie’s firsts.

Lucky Penny - Chapter Twenty-Six
A/N: I apologize for the wait between 25 and 26. It's been a long couple weeks and I've had zero oomph for this story. Don't worry it's not ending anytime soon. I love these two idiots too much. Also, sorry this is kinda short, next chapter heads will roll.

Lucky was done waiting around for these idiots to be ready for the mission. She knew they were pushing it back to grate on her nerves, and damn it they had been successful.
"We run the mission tomorrow Hermes, I don't care that you think your men aren't ready. They are."
"Alright Steele, let's see if you're right." Hermes smirked at her.
She doesn't correct him.
-----
Meanwhile back in California Jake was also tired of waiting, he gathered all the reports he had found and printed them out. The stack was disgustingly tall, and with them in his arms he stormed to Ice's office.
"You have to pull Lucky from the mission." He said slamming the files on Ice's desk. "The men she is with shouldn't even still be in the Navy."
"What is all this Jake?" Ice asks.
"They are formal complaints made aganist all the men on Hermes' squadron. I've highlighted all the important parts. There's a long history of abuse and misogyny between all of them."
"Why did you do this research?"
"Lucky asked me to, she wants to bury them, but they are going to get her hurt if they run this mission."
"Well Jake, I appreciate this. But I can't pull Lucky from the mission."
"What the fuck is that supposed to mean?"
"They took off earlier, they're running the mission right now."
Jake sees red. "If anything happens to her in the air..."
Ice nods, "I know Jake, I know."
-----
"Come on Hermes, get the hell out of my way." Lucky shouts.
"No can do Steele." Hermes replies.
"Bogey at ten o'clock." Joker announces, which causes Hermes to hang a right leaving Lucky totally exposed to the bogey.
"Are you shitting me?"
"Prove you're the best Steele."
Lucky takes a deep breath and reminds herself that she can do this. She pulls off a cobra maneuver that Mav taught her once and shoots down the bogey.
None of the men speak through the comms, in fact once the debris clears she can't find any of their jets.
"Hermes? Check in."
Nothing.
"Chaser?"
Nothing
"Jinx? Joker?"
You guess it, nothing.
They left her, they really fucking left her alone in enemy airspace. They were going to pay for this.
-----
The air in Ice's office was tense. Ice was sitting behind his desk, Jake was pacing behind him as the Admiral read all the reports he'd found. Cyclone and Warlock were sitting across from the desk also reading reports. Then there was Slider, Dragon, and Whiskey sitting on the couch fuming.
The phone rings and they all pause a moment before Ice answers and they hear his side.
"So the mission was successful?"
"What do you mean you don't know where she is?"
"You don't just lose a jet!"
"If she is hurt in anyway, I'll have your head."
Dragon is the first one to jump when the phone is hung up. "What the fuck do you mean they don't know where she is?"
Ice looks at his wife, and he sees the fire in them. The Dragon was about to be unleashed.
"They landed a little bit ago, everyone but Lucky."
"They just left her in an enemy airspace? How dare they. Jake is the only one allowed to hang her out to dry!"
"Hey, even I'm not that bad!"
"I know Jake, but it's kind of your thing."
-----
Pissed was an understatement, Lucky was fuming by the time she landed. She threw her helmet on the dash and climbed down, stomping her way to the rec room where she heard the laughter of the men who'd left her for dead.
Their laughter dies down when they see her walk in, fire in her eyes.
"I hope you all enjoyed your last flight for the United States Navy." She says, before heading to the women's locker room and digging through her locker for her phone.
-----
Jake's phone started playing "Cold As Ice" and he digs it from his pocket, he sees the confused looks around him.
"It's Luckys ringtone." He says trying to explain before he answers putting her on speaker and placing the phone on the desk.
"Jake, you need to take your findings to Ice right now." She says and they all hear the waver in her voice, she's angry. "We ran the damn mission and Hermes put me in the damn line of fire then they left me out there by myself. I had to dogfight my way back alone."
"What do you mean you had to dogfight alone?" Ice asks and Lucky doesn't even seem surprised to hear him.
"I had three bogeys on my tail, I took care of them myself. Plus the one that Hermes put me directly in front of. I was all alone, but I wasn't dying out there."
Looks are shared around the room, their girl had been in so much danger, but she'd fought tooth and nail to make it back to them.
Dragon walks over and speaks into the phone, "Baylie, I'm so proud of you."
They hear a noise over the phone and Dragon realizes first that she's crying.
"Oh baby, I wish I was there with you." Dragon says.
"I was so scared..."
"I know baby, but you're okay now, and you're coming home to us."
Lucky just cries on the other end, the sound breaking all their hearts, even Cyclone's cold, black heart.
"They'll pay for this Lucky, don't worry about that. You just get home." Hangman says.
"Thanks Jake, I have to go and debrief with these fucking idiots."
"Give them hell girl."
The line goes silent right as the door opens and reveals an out of breath Fanboy.
"What's going on in here?" He asks. "I thought I heard her voice."
Everyone looks at him.
"Okay you guys all looking at me is freaking me out."
Dragon makes the few strides to stand in front of him, and hugs him.
"She's coming home."

Ain’t Always The Cowboy
Tumblr media
{ Song Inspiration: Ain’t Always The Cowboy by Jon Pardi }
The group of them had been enjoying the bonfire after the Founder’s Day parade. Laughs and drinks had been shared. The air was full of stories and love amongst the friends.
“Wait wait… Oh what was the name of that big shot bull rider that tried to help scam Whiskey…?” Baylie asked Grace.
“Ugh! Don’t get me started on how much I hate big city people,” Jake exclaimed.
Alana felt all eyes fall on her as Jake ranted on. “Yeah we’re the worst,” she says with a playful tone.
"You're far from being the worst..." Grace starts saying.
"He's just still mad Baylie dumped him to move to a big city," Bradley teases.
Alana looked between the two of them. “You two dated? I never knew.”
“Yeah we were high school sweethearts,” Baylie replies. “But now we’re not.”
“You’ll always be my first love Baylie,” Jake says smiling at her. “Even if you annoy me to death now.”
Once again, Alana looked between the two of them. Baylie was happily engaged to Mickey. Jake was the town's eligible bachelor. Alana couldn't help but wonder what would have been the cause of their breakup. She also wondered why he keeps glaring at her with anger in his eyes.
Tumblr media
SEVEN YEARS EARLIER
Jake is driving to the Kazansky ranch after picking up some breakfast for him and Baylie. He brought a cooler full of ice and water to help her dad with some labor on the ranch. When he pulls up, he spots Baylie sitting at her window.
He smiles at just seeing her. They had just graduated high school and would both be starting community college in a few weeks.
Baylie had finished packing all that she needed to pack up. Rachael knocked on her door. “Bay? He just parked. Your dad and I are going to give you both some privacy.”
Everyone in town kept telling Baylie to break things off with Jake before he left her. “Bay… You know the cowboy always rides away. He’s going to leave you. High school sweethearts don’t always last.”
Baylie opens the door and hugs her mom. “I love you mom.”
Tom sends Jake up to Baylie’s room. His green eyes fill with confusion when he sees that her room is packed up. “Bay? What’s going on?”
“I’m not gonna beat around the bush Jake. We’re done.”
It ain't always the cowboy
That ain't got a lot of hang around
Jake nearly drops the coffee and breakfast. “What do you mean we’re done? Baylie we just had a date the other night and we were fine?”
“Well… Things change… people change. Listen Jake, I’m not going to be tied down to be your little wife to be getting knocked up and being barefoot just being a doormat for you. I’m going to Billings. I’m going to med school and becoming a doctor and this little town will never see me again.”
Ain't got no settle down in their boots
Gone's just what they do
“Baylie! You know that’s not how I see you or would treat you!”
“No I don’t. Maybe you turn out exactly like your uncles and father and become the cowboy that leaves me for someone younger…”
Her words felt like a buckshot to his heart. By his silent reaction, she knew she’d hit the mark. She grabs her backpack and puts it on. She then starts stacking a few boxes to take to her car.
“Bring me the boxes over there. It’s the least you can do before we’re really done.”
That restless runnin'
Searchin' for somethin'
He followed her down the stairs and to her car. “Baylie please! We can’t be over! I can go visit you… I can transfer to Billings…”
“Jake! Stop! I don’t love you anymore!” Baylie felt guilty lying but it was the only way he would let her go. After putting the boxes away, she climbs into her Jeep and closes the door before he can reach her.
“Goodbye Jake. Don’t call or text me. We have nothing else to say to each other. You’ll only hold me back.” With that, Baylie puts her car in drive and leaves.
Leavin' love in the dust of a midnight Chevrolet
It ain't always the cowboy that rides away
His eyes fill with tears as he watches her drive away. Drive away from him. From her parents. From her home. Driving away with a promise to never return.
Tumblr media
PRESENT
“So that’s why I left Mount Deston for Billings,” Baylie says finishing the story.
“I remained angry at her for a few years. But after she came back we had a proper sit down talk about us.”
“We finally realized we both wanted different things from each other in high school and even now. I’ll admit apologizing to Jake for how I ended things helped me a lot. I eventually realized I hurt as much as he had hurt.”
Jake hold his beer up. “Besides she’s too stubborn to actually be my wife.”
Alana can’t help but roll her eyes at him. “I pity the woman you end up marrying if you keep that attitude.”
“Ha! Don’t worry doll it’ll never be you,” he replies to Alana with a wink.
“It’s okay. I’ll survive knowing the one that’s hung up on his high school girlfriend and won’t move on isn’t into me. I’ve been through worse.” Alana senses someone is watching her, and not just those sitting there at the bonfire.
She looks closer to the pier and the water when her eyes fall on him. She doesn’t need to see his face to know it’s him. She knows that body and the way his arms are crossed.
Alana doesn’t even say anything as she puts on her jacket and just leaves the bonfire.

To My Best Friend
Tumblr media
{ Divider by: @firefly-graphics } {For @dragon-kazansky}
My dearest Rachael:
It’s only been a few years since we met and first flew together but it feels like I’ve known you my whole life. What I ever did to deserve an amazing friend like you, I don’t know. I’m just glad you came into my life when I needed you most.
Life as a wife and a mother has changed us. Some would say for the better (those some would be Tom and Ron) and others for the boring. Our nights out have changed. Our new party pals are just the cutest.
Sometimes it feels like we’re not the same Whiskey and Dragon as always. Now that you're gone I don’t know what to do with myself… Ron says to stop being dramatic that you just left for a weekend getaway with Tom. Baylie and I just pouted at him for being so rational. Like who says I can’t miss you on your trip? I bet you Slider is just as pouty that Ice is away and he can’t gossip with him!
Baylie just threw up on Slider! It was the best!! I told him not to be bouncing her too much after she ate! Aww. She's so cute Rach!!! Our girls will be the best of friends just like we are.
I guess I'll let you enjoy your second honeymoon. Ron is being all pouty and demanding my attention... Well more like he asked me out on a date. Said he got a babysitter for the girls.
Tumblr media
Okay back from our date! Tell me what's new! Ron just kept talking about Grace and Baylie. Oh I wish I could show you the polaroid Goose took of the girls cuddling for their nap. It reminds me of our girls' night out when we would crash with each other.
When are you coming back?
That was today's adventures. I'll write more tomorrow.
Your Chaotic Wifey,
Whiskey
Tumblr media
PS: Baylie just burped the cutest burp in her sleep and Grace smacked her.

She’s not going to lie, when she first went to bootcamp, she was scared. The bus dropped her and about thirty other people off at the grounds where there was probably close to hundred other young adults.
So, She adjusted her frames on the bridge of her nose, got her duffle and went to find her group and Drill Sergeant.
She looked around and found that she’s not the only one who has glasses.
In the back there was a guy; lean and tall, with dirty blond hair, and birth control goggles. He was quiet and could be seen shifting his weight from one foot to another.
She was no better, showing her nerves by humming quietly to herself and fidgeting with her fingers.
It wasn’t very long before they started the training. To start, the group did a twenty mile run around the buildings, it was something that shoud’ve been easy for the recuits.
At the end the man with glasses and herself stopped by each other and folded at the waist, trying to catch their breaths.
She looked over and saw the man already looking her way, “Guess I’m not the only one who wasn’t ready for that run.”
She hummed her agreement, “Yeah, you’d think that with all the sports I played, a little run shouldn’t affect me like it did.”
“I get that, between baseball and swimming, my lungs should be able to adapt to this.” both laughed at the irony, still hunched over.
Once she caught her breath, she stuck her hand out for him to shake, which he gladly took a hold of.
“Amanda Hallett. It’s nice to make a friend while we’re here.” “Likewise, Robert Floyd.” and with that, an unbreakable bond was made between the two.
Amanda alway had a tune in her head and would hum or sing it whenever she felt certain emotions or needed to concentrate on a task.
The Drill Sergeant and other higher ups always on her case about being quiet.
So when it came to callsigns, it wasn’t a big surprise to anyone when Robert gave her ‘Birdie,’ for she always sounded beautiful when she sang and never wanted to be caged or muted.
As for Robert, nowadays you’d be shocked to know how he got his. The night before graduation, Smiley had convinced Robert to play a prank on the Commanding Officer.
So, that night or more early morning, Smiley and Robert snuck into the CO’s office and rigged an airhorn to the back of his door and loosened some of the screws in his chair and desk.
The next day, everyone was woken up by the airhorn and the curses of the Commanding Officer, everyone knew who was the culprit, and Robert was branded with “Big Ol’ Balls.”
Tumblr media
After graduation was over Bob went and found Birdie.
Once he had finally found her, he excused them and lead her to somewhere private.
“Look Bird, I know that you’re my best friend and I wouldn’t change that for the world. I can’t help but think that we could be something else, more than friends. But, if you don’t see me that way, I totally understand and respect that.”
“Who said I didn’t feel the same way?” “I…I…I didn’t really ask anyone-” “Then don’t assume that I don’t like you too, Bo. And I mean as more than friends.”
Bird gave a small smile as she looked down at her dress shoes and tried to push the fly-aways behind her ear. Robert just fixed his glasses, as heat flushed his face.
When both could calm their nerves and control the heat on their cheeks, Robert finally asked, “Would you like to go on a date with me Mana?”
Her smile grew in size, “I’d love to, Bo.” the two shared a look before being called away by separate groups of their friends.
It had been their third date when Robert had gained the confidence to take the next step into their relationship.
They could hear Ozzy, her mini goldendoodle, while they stood on the perch of her doorstep.
She had her back against one of the beams that held up part of the roof and Robert had her pinned between that and himself.
Bird could tell he wanted to kiss her, but was still too cautious about being together.
Inside the house sounded the food bowl thrown and the dog whined. Birdie was just about to go to check when Robert took that chance and kissed her while distracted.
It took her a couple of seconds to figure out that, ‘yes, in fact, her best friend was kissing her.’ and began to reciprocate the kiss.
The kiss was soft, sweet, passionate, and long. Robert might never know this, but it was the best that Bird’s ever recieved.
When they both had to stop to refill their lungs, the two couldn’t stop smiling at each other.
Ozzy scratches at the door, breaking up the love fest a little too early if you as them.
Bird rolled her eyes good naturally and pointed with her thumb at the door, “I should probably go feed the big baby before he causes a riot over being fed late. I had so much fun Bo, thank you.”
“I had fun too, I’m glad that you agreed to the date. I’ll let you go so the big baby can eat.”
Before she could even reach for the door handle, Bob had pulled her back towards him and kissed her lips again.
When it ended this time, she went inside and watched out the window as Bob’s truck pulled out of the driveway and onto the road.
Tumblr media
The first time Bob had said those three little words, it had been an accident.
They had just finished The Empire Strikes Back and are quoting their favorite scenes when Bob stops laughing, but still sports a smile, and studies her face.
She looks beautiful with happy tears forming at the corner of her eyes as she continues to laugh and before he can catch himself, he whispers, “I love you.”
Bird is just as surprised by this confession as he is, but doesn’t show it when she quickly replies, “I know.”
A small smirk grazes her lips before leaning in for a kiss, soft and sweet.
That night, cuddled up together and the Star Wars movies playing, couldn’t have been a better night to finally say those scary little words to each other while doing their favorite thing.
This also happens to be the night that Robert finally officially meets Ozzy, Bird’s mini goldendoodle.
Athena, Bird’s best friend and roommate, had taken Ozzy out for a walk while the two watched movies, but it seemed that Ozzy had other plans.
She had known, before getting Ozzy, that the breed is very intelligent. So, it shouldn’t be an astonishment that he had faked being tired, and made Athena take him home.
Once the door opened, Ozzy raced to see the visitor and accidently stepped somewhere he shouldn’t have, making Bob groan and hunch over in pain.
“Bo, are you alright? Ozzy, go to Thena, now!” the dog did as commanded and trotted back to Athena, where she took off his lease and fed him dinner.
“Do you need anything? Pain meds, ice, um…”
Bob unclenched his eyes, “Ice would be good, thanks Bird.” and with that, Bird got up and went to the kitchen to get him the ice.
She opened the freezer door and couldn’t find any ice cubes, so she grabbed a pack of peas and high tailed it back to the living room.
“There you go, I’m sorry about Ozzy. He’s crazy, that’s why I named him after Ozzy Osborn.”
A chuckle was heard from beside her, “Makes sense, Ozzy is known for his craziness in the music industry.”
“Who’d think that sweet little Robert Floyd was a heavy metal fan.” smiled Bird as she got comfortable again.
“I have a lot of secrets that would shock you Angel.” smirked Bob as he looked into her blue eyes.
The day that Bird had met his parents, was a crazy day in itself. Bob had told her that he was planning to go home to Wyoming for Thanksgiving, and that his mother invited her to come too.
At first she was nervous, not really knowing much about the Floyd clan, but Bob reassured her that she was welcomed and knew more than she thought about his family.
The flight was short, but still Bird was on edge. I mean, this was her BOYFRIEND’S family that she was meeting for the first time.
She was nervous as hell about what they’d think about her!
Bob, the sweetheart that he was, held her hand and whispered honeyed words into her ear the whole distance from the airport to his childhood home.
When they finally arrived, he kissed her hand that was gripped in his, before he got out and opened her door for her.
The first out of the house was two young women, no more than nineteen and seventeen.
“You must be Bam’s girlfriend! Oh lord is Mama gonna be upset when she realizes that you didn’t tell us that she was this pretty Robert!”
“Izzy,” he warned but she shook her hand as if to say, ‘whatever.’
“Anyway, it's a pleasure to meet you! I’m Isabella, and this is our little sister Chloe.” “It's nice to meet y’all too, I’m Amanda.”
She held out her hand for a shake, but instead was pulled into a bone crushing hug from the sisters.
The next two out were men, one on the older side, but not much more than Bob or Bird. The other was young, most likely the youngest sibling in the pack.
Bob whispered into her ear, “The older dumbass is Austin, and his equally as stupid, but shorter doppleganger, is Colton.”
Bird laughed to herself as the eldest came up to Bob and put him in a headlock, while the other gave him a noogie.
When they did see the pretty girl next to him, they stopped horsing around and straightened up.
The eldest spoke first, “Well I’ll be damned, Bam got himself a pretty little diamond, ain’t he?” “Yessir, I’d say she’s even outta his league.”
The group was too engaged with each other to see the parents exit the house, “Now boys, don’t be causin’ no trouble while Bam’s girlfriend’s visitin, y’all promised to be on yer best behavior!”
“Yes ma’am.” and as if to mock their brother, gave a half-assed saulute.
“You must be Amanda, he talks a bunch about you! I oughta kick his behind, Robert James, why didn’t you tell us she was this pretty!”
Robert’s cheeks flushed bright red in embarrassment, “I did Ma, I swear.”
“Now son, I’d say that's a lie if I ever heard one! Letter after letter you never said anything other than ‘my friend Birdie.’ and now that we seen her, you should’ve been more descriptive, didn’t they teach you that in English class?”
“It’s nice to meet y’all Mr. and Mrs. Floyd, I’m Amanda, but you probably know me better as ‘Birdie’.” again, she stuck her hand out for a shake, only to be pulled into a hug.
“Oh darlin’ it's nice to meet you too!” “Don’t worry about all that ‘Mr and Mrs Floyd’ crap!  You can call us Joe and Kacey,” stated Joe.
“Ok, i will try to remember that. Thank you for inviting me to your family dinner.”
“Nonsense girl, you’re family now! Come on in and make yourself at home, I’ll have the Bam show you around later.”
Then in a conspiring whisper, “I’ll even bring out some of Bam’s old baby pictures later tonight before bed.”
Bird laughed loudly at the woman, she knew she was more than just ‘Bam’s Girlfriend’ at that point, but seen as a family member.
The next big event in their relationship was when they moved in with each other.
It was seem as a traumatic for both female aviators when Athena’s long-term boyfriend, now fiance, Lucas had asked her to move in with him.
Tears and hugs were hourly at that day, both men and Smiley over the crying and the girls not helping.
But once the packing and unpacking was over, Bird had invited Bob to stay the night, knowing he was beyond tired to drive home safely.
“I don’t know how I’m going to afford this apartment by myself now that Thena’s gone, maybe I need a new roommate.” casually stated Bird.
“I can help with fliers if you need-” she cut him off with a smile, “No, Idiot, I’m trying to ask you to move in with me.”
Comically, as if in a cartoon, Bob realizes the words that were spoken and eyes widen, “OH! I…I guess… I guess I could move into here with you, if that's what you really want. I don’t want to force or go too fast for our relationship.”
Birdie cut him off from his ramble with a kiss, “I suggested it Bo, I think we can do this. But if you're not comfortable with it, we can wait. No harm done.”
He scrambles to an upright position, kisses her quick and hard, “I’d love nothing more than to move in with you Amanda Birdie Hallett.”
“Good, Robert BOB Floyd, you're mine for a long time now. No escaping.”
He leans down and presses his lips against hers again, softer then before, “I wouldn’t have it any other way Bird, you're the Leia to my Han.”
“Don’t flatter me with Star Wars, I was yours before that and I’ll be yours til the end.” “Oh, so it's Marvel now huh? Am I Bucky or Steve?”
Birdie’s face lit up in a smile, “I’m obviously Steve, I can do this all day. You, Bucky Barnes, are with me til the end of the line. Even with my chaos, I know you love me.”
“You wouldn’t be you without your chaotic self Angel, at this point I’m just here for the ride.” “Damn straight,” replied Bird with a kiss of her own to his cheek, which turned into a raspberry.
Laughter erupted throughout the house, Ozzy joining in with howls of his own.
After a while, the laughter settled into giggles, which eventually turned to comfortable silence.
“I love you,” uttered Bird as she watched Bob with glazed eyes. “I know,” replied Bob, leaning down to give Bird an actual kiss to her lips, and like always, it was soft and sweet.
Bird was so happy with how her life was going and wouldn’t change anything if it meant never meeting the guy of her dreams, Robert James Floyd.
He had done so much for her that she could never thank that darling man enough for. He showed her what a boyfriend should be like, every other ex she’s had treated her like trash.
Bob treated her like a Goddess and it took a while for Bird to warm up to the affection he showed and gave her, even when they were just friends. Now Bird can’t get enough of his love.
Tumblr media
Bob and Birdie had been dating for about a year and a half when they had been asked to Top Gun.
Bob and Smiley were a foxtrot team, while Birdie and Athena were solos and wingmen.
Every day would start the same, Athena asking Bird what they were gonna do today and Bird would reply with ‘the same thing we do everyday Thena, try to take over the world!’ and with Bird getting screamed at by Cyclone.
He didn’t like the chaos that she brought to the base, absolutely hated it.
Said she reminded him of some of his old pilot friends… Wyvern and Whitney?
Something close to that maybe, and their husbands, Ice and Slider.
It didn’t start out as hate, but after he unintentionally bought a ticket to a PDA show featuring yours truly and his girlfriend, you could say that’s when it began.
Honestly, Birdie thought that the hallway wasn’t that travelled and dragged Bob to it.
It was coinicident that as they happened to be having a heated make-out session that Cyclone had to walk down said path.
“Leiutendant Junior Grade Floyd, Leiutendant Junior Grade Hallett, I think its best for all of us if you discontinue having each other’s tongues down one another’s thoats and get back to the hanger.”
Bob’s face was flushed while Bird smirked, “Well Cyclone, you know that if we wanted an audience, we’d stayed in the hanger to begin with.”
Bob pushed Bird to the next hall, embarrassment at being caught evident on his face.
“Seriously Bird, you can’t just sass the higher rank, that’s like career suicide!” Bob whispered.
Bird waved it off, “Bo, I love you, but it's Cyclone. The worst he can do is kick me out or relocate me.”
“I don’t want either to happen, so please, just for me?” he begged, but she just rolled her eyes good naturally.
“Fine, just for you. I love you.” “I know.”
Today was no different than the last, they got up at the ass crack of dawn, got ready for the day, went to work, and Bird would hop on him back as they walked into the hanger.
Cyclone gave the two a glare, making Bob slightly losen his grip on Bird, and she would blow him sarcastic kisses.
Warlock stood in the corner with a smile on his face.
As they all sat down, the bit started, “What is on the agenda for today Bird?” “The same thing we do every day Thena, try and take over the world!”
Laughs could be heard from around the ‘classroom’ as a sharp, “Lieutenant Junior Grade Hallett, I’d like to not have to reprimand you today, so please, keep the unneeded behavior to a minimum.”
“And Sir, I’d like for you to take the stick outta your-” but she couldn’t finish, not with Bob’s hand covering her mouth.
Without a second thought, Bird licks his hand. He gives her a ‘really?’ look as Cyclone clears his throat to start.
He would be the first to emit that when it comes to relationships, he’s not the smartest.
Like when Bird casually invited him to live with her. He didn’t have the braincells to think about what she was trying to ask him.
He had been doing physical labor all day will little help from Smiley, he was so tired he moved like a caveman.
Bob was so relieved when Birdie asked him to stay the night, which wouldn’t be the first time, but it would be with a totally empty house.
“I don’t know how I’m going to afford this apartment by myself now that Thena’s gone, maybe I need a new roommate.”
Casually stated Bird as she made a pattern between massaging and playing with his hair. The actions lulling him to sleep.
“I can help with fliers if you need-” she cut him off with a smile, “No, Idiot, I’m trying to ask you to move in with me.”
Bob rises up to his elbows with wide eyes as realizes the words that were spoken and nervously, “OH! I…I guess… I guess I could move into here with you, if that's what you really want. I don’t want to force or go too fast for our relationship.”
Birdie cut him off from his ramble with a kiss, one he was more than happy to receive.
“I suggested it Bo, I think we can do this. But if you're not comfortable with it, we can wait. No harm done.”
He scrambles to an upright position, sitting up he kisses her quick and hard, “I’d love nothing more than to move in with you Amanda Birdie Hallett.”
“Good, Robert BOB Floyd, you're mine for a long time now. No escaping.”
He leans down and presses his lips against hers again, softer then before, “I wouldn’t have it any other way Bird, you're the Leia to my Han.” he jokes.
“Don’t flatter me with Star Wars, I was yours before that and I’ll be yours til the end.”
“Oh, so it's Marvel now huh? Am I Bucky or Steve?” He asked, curious.
Birdie’s face lit up in a smile. Bob’s does too, knowing how much she loves to talk about nerdy things and fandoms,“I’m obviously Steve, I can do this all day. You, Bucky Barnes, are with me til the end of the line. Even with my chaos, I know you love me.”
He rolled his eyes, of course he’d be Bucky. He’s always getting her out of trouble or fighting someone to keep her safe.
“You wouldn’t be you without your chaotic self Angel, at this point I’m just here for the ride.”
“Damn straight,” replied Bird with a kiss of her own to his cheek, which turned into a raspberry. He closed his eyes and wiped at the slobber now on his cheek.
Laughter erupted throughout the house, Ozzy joining in with howls of his own.
After a while, the laughter settled into giggles, which eventually turned to comfortable silence.
“I love you,” uttered Bird as she watched Bob with glazed eyes. “I know,” replied Bob, leaning down to give Bird an actual kiss to her lips.
He savored the feeling like he always did when he kissed her, he was addicted and this is one drug he wasn’t giving up anytime soon.

When Bob met Amanda’s parents, he was sure that they were just middleclass rednecks.
It had rained a couple of days before, so when the introductions were done, the eldest brother slapped his hand on Bob’s shoulder and handed him a helmet.
No explanation, but the other three goons were laughing like hyenas.
Trent, the eldest brother and sibling of the three children, ran to the garage and started the side by side.
Evan, the youngest of the siblings followed with a sled and a sketchy looking rope.
Bird, his lovely bird, took the helmet from his hands, kissed him, put it on his head gently, strapped it, and then slapped and tried to move the helmet to see if it stayed.
Which it did. Thank GOd.
As soon as the side by side came out of the garage, a sled surprisingly expertly tied to the back.
Bob just knew what his Girlfriend’s crazy brother’s were up to.
But he loved Birdie so much that if her crazy redneck brothers wanted to have fun, he’d join in, for a while.
What he wasn’t anticipating was having so much damn fun!
The four of them took turns on the back of the sled as the other three were in the side by side going over hills as fast as they could and taking tight turns.
The rain added a slick surface that made it fun to try to knock off the person on the sled as the driver.
Don’t get Bob wrong, he’d been on a ranch all of his life, but the only fun that the three Floyd brother’s took apart of was working the cattle and drinking when the sun got low.
Bob worked hard to get out of the small town he grew up in. He wanted to travel and experience things he never would’ve while in Wyoming.
With Bird, he knows that he’s already found his adventure he’d been wanting. Every day something new, and he loves it.

Asking Nicholas Hallett for his only daughter’s hand in marriage, scared Bob to the grave.
At this point of their relationship, they’d been together for three years, living together for one.
Most couples are together for a year and a half, then get married.
It’s not because Bob didn’t think Bird wasn’t the one, that’s not possible.
It was more on the account of being scared of what her father and brothers would say.
Growing up, his Ma had drilled into his head, ‘when you meet the right girl, you ask her father before given’ her a ring. It’s about respect.’
So, he was gonna be respectful to Mr. Hallett and meet on his turf.
Bob had told Birdie that he was going to go home for a couple of days because he missed his parents, and told his Pa and Ma what he planned on doing, and to try to keep Bird from figuring it out.
He had also called Kathleen to tell her what he was visiting for and to please keep it a secret from Nick and from Bird.
He rang the doorbell when he arrived, even though the Hallett’s had insisted that he just walk in.
Bob heard shouts from inside and then the door opened, revealing the man in question.
“Well hello there, what brings you here today Robert? Is my daughter hiding somewhere again?”
Bob chuckled, “No sir, I'm here by lonesome. I have an important question to ask of you.”
Nick leans against the doorframe and crosses his arms, “I had a feeling one of these days you’d get around to askin’ that.”
Bob gulps visibly, “Sir, I’d like to ask you if I could have your daughter’s hand in marriage.” within seconds, Nick’s face went from stern to happy as ever.
He shook Bob’s hand and laughed, gleefully, “Oh, of course son! I’d be happy to have you as a son in law. I only have one request, don’t go breakin’ my little girl’s heart okay? She’s only got one and it’s been hurt a couple of times, but I know when I look at her that you’ve healed some of the wounds from her past battles.”
Bob tried not to cry as he listens to Nick’s plea as he’s wrapped up in a tight hug between Bird’s parents.
He knew that she’d been hurt before, but never heard how bad.
With new light on the subject of her heart, Bob uttered, “You have no worry about me Mr. Hallett. I wouldn’t dream of hurting Bird like the others before me, I love her so much that it pains me not being there for her when she needs anything. She’s my whole damn galaxy and I wouldn’t trade her for the world.”
“That’s what I like to hear son, thank you for loving my baby girl.”
“No, thank you. You have an amazing daughter and I can’t imagine my life without her. She brings me so much joy and laughter that I can’t breathe some days.”

You know that feeling when your’re about to start the rest of your life with the woman you love?
Is it nervousness? Excitement? Bob will probably never know for sure which one he was more of at the moment.
Lies, it was nervous. He was about to ask Bird the big question.
Bob checked his pocket one last time to make sure the ring was in there, then counted to ten.
The couple had been at Bob’s childhood house for leave and he couldn’t think of a better place to ask, surrounded by family.
It was supposed to be a ‘Welcome Home’ barbeque, but Bob flipped the lid of all of the parents when he said that he was going to ask Bird that night.
It was after dinner and desert that he had finally taken some initiative, and a couple of shut gunned beers with the brothers, that he went up to Bird.
“Wanna go on a walk?” he asked as he held a hand out for her. Bird smiles and excepts the offered hand, “A new adventure awaits us, huh Bo?”
Bob laughs, “Yeah, you could say that. Wanna go left or right?” Bird pretends to think, “Um… too many choices… lets go… left, thats the river right?”
Bob nodded, “Yeah, but no funny business. Family’s around.” “Babe, hate to tell you, but all business is funny business with me.”
Bob squeezed her hand tighter, “Don’t I know it, Angel.” they walk in comfortable silence as they trek to the river.
“Bam, your hands are a little clammy, are you alright?”
He waves her off, “Just fine Angel.”
As soon as the river is in view, Bird runs off towards the old tire swing. Bob follows behind slowly catching up.
Without needing to be asked, Bob pushes her gently while she’s sat in the tire. “Bam, why’d you bring me out here?”
He sighs, he’s caught, should’ve known she’d be suspicious.
“Because you, Amanda Birdie Hallett, are my greatest adventure.” Bob makes his way infront of the swing now and stops it easily.
“I have been on many journeys alone, and unfortunately for me, none as wild as when you crashed into my life like a little tornado.” he takes her hand and kneels on the ground.
“I’d like to finish the journey of life with you forever. Angel, you know I’m not really a many words kind of man, but for you, I’d make speeches around the globe a thousand times over to show you just how much I love you.”
Bob takes the little velvet box out of his Levi’s pocket, “ So, Amanda Birdie Hallett, would you do me the honor of being my wife?”
He barely gets the final word out of his mouth before Bird captures his lips with her own, tears from her face mixing with his own as the kiss continues.
Just like the first kiss, they don’t stop until their lungs are screaming for breath, “Of course I’ll marry you Robert, I love you!” she chuckles, bringing her lips back to his.
“I know,” He smiles when the kiss ends and immediately puts the small metal jewerly on her ring finger.
When the newly engaged couple had made it back to the house where both of their families where, they were engulfed in hugs and pestered with questions.
Bird’s smile could light up the sky, and Bob wanted nothing more but to bathe in it.
She was beautiful chaos and he didn’t want to live without her nearby.
Little did Robert Floyd know that in the next couple of months, his wish wouldn’t always be true.
Bob would start to push his one true love away so he wouldn’t have to go through the pain of not having her with him daily.
Bob would miss her so much that he would pull away from his new friends and squad.

Diaper Zone (Chaos Squad Top Gun AU)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Flyboys and Girls were at the top of their class back when they were in Top Gun. Now that time has passed and their lives changed, they find themselves as parents to a very chaotic group of little ones.
The chaos and love increase when they are all assigned to the same military base daycare teacher. The poor teacher is unaware of the chaos and fun that she will have in her class throughout her time with them.
