wigfrid wednesday in my brain. something i tend to think about a lot when it comes to maxwell and his abductions is that it seems as though most of them are very purposeful. and the more of them we see, the more this proves to hold true.

wilson is probably one of the only people with the tools and the lack of disregard or fear to build to portal he built in the first place. wickerbottom was put into a situation by maxwell to force her into making a choice under the assumption it was her own free will. wes. ok well wes was an accident but maxwell was purposefully trying to drag somebody in, so the point still stands.

the voxola products and who does or doesn't have them may throw some randomization into the mix, but it really seems like maxwell knows exactly what he wants, and he'll stoop to nearly anything to get it.

which raises the question: what the hell did he want or need wigfrid for? for seemingly being one of the FIRST survivors to enter the constant, she seems like the most bizarre and unnecessary choice. but everything he does points to him wanting her specifically.

the only other time we canonically know that he revealed a shadow of himself was when he was convincing wickerbottom to take his offer. but its very obvious- with how much she knows and is capable of- why he would want her inside of his little universe. for how useful wilson was and proved himself to be (being the ONLY survivor who ended up ultimately rescuing him), he didn't get the privilege of seeing max's 'physical form'.

AND. if we're to believe maxwell fabricated/exaggerated the news to put her in a more vulnerable mental state, then who knows HOW much time and effort he invested playing the long con. but like?? for what? what the hell did he see in her maddening fall from grace that made her such an essential asset to him?

#i think abt this a lot. in regards to their friendship. there's so many possibilities we may never know.... #i mean like. theres NO reason he should have been like 'oh i'll take the person pretending to be a warrior and she'll be a warrior in hell' #i mean. thats what happened yeah. that is NOT what he should have been banking on though #since wigfrid was probably one of the first survivors it could also be argued that maxwell had a lot more energy at that point- #-and by the time he made it to wilson he was too weak to show a physical copy of himself #and a point could also be argued that wilson wouldn't have believed in a shadowy demon more than he would a radio #BUT... THAT DOESN'T EXPLAIN THE IMPLIED TIME MAX SPENT JUST FUCKING WITH HER IN THE MEANWHILE. WITH THE NEWS?? #idk. this haunts me a bit. its so interesting. what did he see in her??

Radio telescopes are generally located in valleys/lower places so that radio signals from Earth pass over it! Also there are radio quiet zones around large radio telescopes, like the National Radio Quiet Zone around the Green Bank Observatory in West Virginia.

#apologies if this is inaccurate! I got to visit the Green Bank Observatory once but it was about ten years ago #if anyone has other information about radio telescopes or related feel free to share!
