so we all agree that kirkwall is both horrifying and fascinating and i wish they'd delved more into its bloody history beyond the snippets we get from the codexes of the band of three. like hello?? three seekers of truth - among which a dalish mage - scurrying about the sewers and lower passages of the city, discovering that kirkwall was designed as some sort of magical symbol, has grooves in the sewers allowing the flood of blood downward for blood magic purposes, and last but not least realizing that its circle of magi had a much higher number of failed harrowings & episodes of blood magic hysteria than basically any other circle in existence??? you cant leave me hanging like that. why was the veil so thin there even before tevinter came? why were they weakening it further?? what was tevinter doing with all those disappeared slaves every year and the huge blood magic ritual involving thousands of slaves and the city itself being a magic symbol??? did the band ever find out if the Forbidden Ones are the same Forgotten Ones of dalish lore??? why was xebenkeck called 'forgotten one'??? hello????? what the fuck is up in kirkwall??????
Felt like going back to my roots and drew the Sanders Sides! I hope I finally did them justice.
I honestly have no idea what I’d be like today if I never watched this series. To me it acted as a guide on self reflection and gave me the vocabulary to talk about things like anxiety. And it did this in a fun, digestible, memorable way. I think the first video I watched upon release was “Fitting In,” and I remember the hype in the hours leading up to it. So that one will always have a special place in my heart. Also, Sanders Sides was my first fandom, and it made sure I was in a good online community. Even though I don’t think about the series as much now, it still means a lot to me.
P.S. All patterns in the background are from the merch store/Wiki! Not drawn by me.
It really is incredible the way succession will keep showing you just how amoral and callous the Roy kids can be and you'll hit the point where you start to question why you're even watching anymore because they're all just so awful, and then they'll do something so pathetically human and broken that you can't imagine ever looking away or not caring anymore. The writers always seem to know exactly when to stop and it's genuinely stunning.
It’s so funny when people on TT are like “Oh Velvet and Veneer should’ve won”
Because when you really think about it, they kinda did.
Velvet desperately wanted to be famous (and Veneer wanted to make her happy) and in the song Mount Rageous she says “baby remember my name” several times, and the background vocals start chanting “remember” over and over, as if to cement this.
But like, Mount Rageons *are* gonna remember that scandal forever.
Because imagine if someone like Taylor Swift was outed as a fake during the Eras tour. People would NEVER stop talking about it. There’d be so many documentaries, video essays, articles, etc.
And ppl would STILL listen to her music, because that’s how stan culture works.
I’m not trying to pick on Swifties, I’m just using it as an example to show that Velvet and Veneer will be talked about by Mt. Rageons for decades to come.
after seeing this post talking about floyd and veneers queer coding by @funktrolls , i saw quite a few comments or reblogs of people mentioning they ship the two together. ive also seen the ship in several other places. please do not ship them
VENEER IS A TEENAGER! (i am so sorry to use tiktok as a source but i literally cannot find this interview clip anywhere else)
FLOYD IS NOT!
"teenager could mean veneer is 18-19" I DONT CARE! FLOYD IS PROBABLY IN HIS 30'S, ITS WEIRD!
not to mention veneer kept floyd captive for an unknown amount of time. probably quite a long time, considering the fact floyd fully lost his colours!
"but velvet forced veneer to-" veneer still kept floyd captive, even if he feels guilty about it. its weird!
interview clip under cut in case the link stops working
my roman empire is my great grandmother Argentina, i only have two pictures of her and my grandma doesn't talk about her that much since she died when my nana was only 8.
