random rant but since izumi and zuko have been rotting my brain,

y'all know what bothers me sometimes in fics abt zuko and izumi. when zuko is like, practically perfect at parenting despite all his stressing. and im not saying he should be a bad dad, fuck no, i love how even in canon it seems like zuko ended up the best parent from the gaang (from the ones that actually had kids), but it feels odd when zuko is like single and young and freshly out of his abusive dad's home in fics, and yet hes still like really good at the whole parenting thing. its sweet but it feels a little idk. out of character? i dont rlly want perfect dad zuko who's more likely to start crying under stress instead of yell, i want him to struggle more with his canon aggressive reactions and his yelling, and i want him to try his best and succeed in doing his best. i want him to put in so much effort into this and to learn and work on himself for izumi (and himself, but, his priorities), because in those fics hes like 18-24 and he just hasn't actually had time to do that before izumi was born. i hope this makes sense idk
