          Taylah nodded, silent for a long moment. They’d always felt uneasy around Danny, but that was just how men were, right? They always wanted something. Not just something, you.           Their eyes widened with panic, completely regretting ever bringing up the topic. “Please, don’t tell Marie.” Marie would hate them. Tell them they were lying. That Danny was a good boy. “He didn’t do anything. Please don’t tell her.” Tears sprung to their eyes (one still black from the night before but was covered in enough makeup that it mostly wasn’t visible) and spilled onto their face before they quickly wiped them away.

unpopular opinions on queen? 🥸

Not sure if this is unpopular but: Roger’s singing voice got better in the 80s. Many people focus on the fact that he couldn’t hit those falsetto notes anymore, but a high-pitched voice isn’t an indicator of good singing. I think he settled into his natural range in the 80s, and had a way more powerful, rich voice that made the harmonies sound amazing (especially live!)

P.S. He’s also a way better composer and lyricist than people give him credit for!

a releasing ritual

hey witches (or whatever term you prefer)!

in honour of the current waning moon, i wanted to write out a simple releasing ritual you can perform. this can be used to let go things such as people/relationships, attachments, thought patterns, situations, draining spirits/energies, or any negativity that is impacting you and no longer serves. this is super simple and can be done any time, however the vanishing moon phase is a perfect time for releasing.

ingredients/tools:

paper and pen (black ink is great!)

a black candle (can substitute for white, just make sure to set intentions); if you can’t have a flame that’s okay stay tuned for a simple alternative!

a white candle (i use both black and white; black for releasing, white for cleansing). you can always use a fake candle for effect if you wish

fire safe bowl (as above if you can’t have fire)

a black crystal, like black tourmaline, onyx, obsidian, smokey quartz, the like

method below!

you’ll want to start this ritual by grounding. whatever method works for you, i like to meditate and imagine roots growing from the base of my spine down through the earth. open your circle (if that’s how you practice), and call in any spirits, ancestors or deities you wish.

light your black candle and the white candle, setting the intention to release any negativity holding you down, and replacing it with positive vibrations and energy

on your piece of paper, write a list of the negativity in your life that you are wanting to let go of - be as specific as you can and write as much as you can/want to

once you’ve written your list, fold the paper AWAY from your body, and as you do so, imagine the negativity being pulled away from your body. i like to fold 3 times, but that’s just my preference

tear the paper into pieces - as big or as small as you like

(if you cant have fire, sub this for part 7!) light those pieces of paper on fire using the flame from the black candle, dropping them into the fire safe bowl, imagining any attachments to those things being burned away and stripped from you

instead of burning, you can always flush the torn pieces down the toilet (tear the pieces up small!), or throw them in the trash. continue to step 8.

as it burns/is disposed of, ask the universe/source/whatever you like to replace that negativity with positive, high vibrational energy, seeing it fill your space and the spaces within you left open by the releasing

blow out the black candle. leave the white candle/fake candle burning for however long you like, to help cleanse away any lingering or stagnant energies before blowing it out/turning it off/letting it burn down. thank the candles for their time, and close your ritual however you choose to do so, thanking any spirits you welcomed in.

It was a Friday night and, perhaps rather unsurprisingly, Morgan was standing in a questionably cleaned living room surrounded by underage drunks and offensively loud R&B. Taylah was stood beside her, crossfaded and merely being a presence at Morgan’s side.

Morgan wished Taylor was more of a conversationalist the second she saw all 6’2 of Nolan Moyle powering towards her with uneven steps. He stopped only a few steps from her, she could smell the beer on his breath as he teetered forward before catching himself at the last second.

“What can I do for you, Moyle?” she asked, looking past him to see if any of his teammates were going to collect him.

“Blanks says you look really hot tonight,” he told her matter-of-factly.

“Does Blanks know you’re telling me that?” she asked back.

She had never seen eyebrows pull together as quickly as Nolan’s. He thought for a few moments, the cogs working visibly in his brain, before his mouth fell open only to shut again the very next second.

Morgan knew she looked good, was the thing. It had been her goal going into the evening, as it usually was, and while it was nice to have that validated she wasn’t sure it needed to come from Nick. Even if it did make her chest swell just a little bit.

As if he sensed he was being talked about—or maybe her just saw the conversation from across the room—Nick materialised beside Nolan.

“Sorry, sorry,” he apologised quickly and sincerely. “He escaped confinement.”

A small laugh bubbled from Morgan’s mouth. She said, lightly, “You might want to think twice about telling him things before he starts drinking.”

Nick’s cheeks reddened instantly, needing no further context. “Sorry, he shouldn’t—you do, though. Look hot.”

“You do,” Nolan said, regaining his voice. “You should date him.”

They were moving before Morgan could get a good look at Nick’s face, only hearing a few more ‘Sorry’s as they disappeared.

you booked your own ticket and decided to fly down and apologize. one big romantic gesture, straight out of the movies, "what was the fight even about?" alex's girlfriend asked.

"something stupid. he washed his whites with colors." you muttered. she laughed, "i know, it was stupid."

"well, you're here now, so that's all that matters."

your heart was beating out of your chest when the buzzer sounded and it was ready to burst out as you walked down to the ice. you tapped his shoulder and he turned around.

"bo..." before you could say anything else, he pulled you into the biggest, most comforting hug ever. hand behind the head, a kiss to the temple, kinda hug.

Taylah is often in an abusive relationship, was emotionally, physically, and sexually abused/trafficked as a child (and received an extreme form of applied behavior analysis "therapy"), is currently being sex trafficked, and is being manipulated into a drug addiction. I might do a comic exploring their original meetings and how they played out. But long story short, Matthieu and Cy had a big empty house but didn't want to leave it, so Matthieu searched for housemates. He happened to run into Taylah, who was looking to move out, and they actually got along. She then heard Kwet was looking into moving out too, and put them in contact as well. So yeah, now they basically stay under Matthieu!

Critical Reflection on my Interview

Throughout this subject I have learnt multiple tips to a good interview. From the 50-50 rule which means that a interview should be 50% listening and 50% speaking and the importance to getting the balance right. The importance of preparing an interview can not be understated, a prospective employer wants to know what you know about them. If I am fortunate enough to get a interview with SEN, I will research their run sheet and get an understanding of why certain shows are on at certain times, whilst also learning briefly the history of SEN.

I have developed my technique by getting classmates Taylah and Jye to ask me important interview questions so that I can give them a response and get peer feedback. This was essential because I probably was not as confident as I would have liked, taking time to think of an answer and then was not satisfied with the answer either.

The star approach is a handy technique to help give informative answers. The star acronym stands for situation, task, action and result (Shepherd, 2013).

Situation & Task – Describe the situation that you were in or the task you needed to accomplish.

Action – Describe the action you took to address the situation with an appropriate amount of detail whilst keeping the focus on yourself

Result – What happened? How did the event end and what did you learn?

I unfortunately came away from the star method during my interview, which resulted in me only telling half the story and not giving a full summary on how the situation ended. I now have learnt from this and will continue to use the star approach in the future.

During my interview I seemed nervous and feel I could have prepared better to not be so nervous. I found it hard with lack of context on the role I was ‘interviewing’ for. I also when talking about myself mentioned randomly that I had a pet rabbit named Ace. Whilst cute he probably wasn’t relevant to the interview.
