hopefully I answer this well! If not feel free to send another ask

I went more into depth with this on another ask but I’ll try to answer your ask to the best of my ability. Being a proshipper isn’t exactly what you asked it was in your ask, to grossly oversimplify it being a proshipper basically means that you believe fiction (even if it’s messed up fiction) still has a right to exist and people have a right to like it, even if you personally don’t. You don’t even have to be into “problematic fiction” to be consider a proshipper. Like me personally I don’t like problematic ships that much but I still acknowledge people have a right to like those ships even if I personally don’t and that they don’t deserve to be harassed for being into problematic ships.

the thing is you don’t even have to label yourself as a proshipper if you don’t want, there are other terms you can use (personally I prefer pro-fiction more than proship) or you can just not use any at all, just go with what makes you comfortable.

What's the point in Pro shipping? I've seen so many nasty things about it especially because of child x adult but I want to know is there a good side to the community or is it all just like that?

while I’ll still answer this to the best of my abilities you should still probably ask other proshippers because even im still used to the proship community so

ok so to first start I wanna get this out of the way, proship does not mean “problematic ship” or anything like that. So if you see someone saying, “That’s a proship!” or “This is my favorite proship” they are using the word wrong.

now that I’ve made that clear, for me personally I feel like asking “What’s the point of proshipping” is kinda…I guess a nothing question…? Because like you don’t “proship” as being proship is more of a stance. Proship literally means to be “for shipping” but it also means to be against harassing others over fictional content, anti-censorship of fiction, etc.

So I think a better question would probably be “What’s the point of being proship?” and to answer that question for me personally, well…because it’s fiction. It’s not hurting anyone. Fiction should be allowed to exist and allowed to be consumed no matter how icky it is. And even when you are proship you can still being uncomfortable or triggered by certain fiction. Like in your own ask you don’t seem to like adult x minor ships, which is perfectly valid, tbh I don’t really like so ships that much either. Even then you can still acknowledge that people who do like those ships are allowed to like them, even if you personally don’t. Does that make sense? I feel like I’m not making sense lol.

when it comes to community thing while there are a lot of people in at least the proship tags that are into problematic ships, I’m sure (if you look hard enough) you’ll find proship users who aren’t into that stuff. Because again, you can still be proship and still not be into certain fiction.

sorry to hear how negative the community has been :( I don’t consider myself proship/profiction but I had to leave selfship community too since I have moral ocd and seeing death wishes and violent threats constantly was uhhhhh not good. I don’t know why people can’t just be straightforward and polite with dnis and such, why do they have to be so mean?

I don’t know why they do that either, it doesn’t help anyone, and it just makes the community seem more unwelcoming. What you said is completely understandable and I understand it now but my only concern is what if unstable/young people see the fics and then they do something because they think it's right because unstable/young people can be influenced easily, I've seen that reasoning floating around and I just want to know what you think about it!

but yeah I definitely see your point, and I won’t disagree with your point. But I will note that in cases where certain people are influenced by fictional stories to do certain things, there are almost always other underlying things that caused them to do the certain thing, not just the fictional story. While I can’t give you a definitive answer as to what should be done to stop situations like that from happening or how to decrease them, I can say that for me personally, telling people to stop making certain fanfiction or fiction in general isn’t really going to solve those situations. And that focusing solely on the fiction isn’t really going to solve this bigger issue at hand. It’s the same reason as to why I think blaming violence on violent video games is kinda useless and solves nothing.

I think I kinda rambled off at the end lol, but I hope that this helped, at least a little.

Ay this vomiting stuff sounds pretty serious how long this been going on?

The puking has been in on and off thing for the majority of my life, never really caused me any issue other than me just not being able to hold my food down on occasion (this isn’t regular dw, I don’t usually have a hard time keeping my food down). It’s just that it’s gotten worse over the second half of this week. I should be feeling ok from now on but I don’t 100% trust my body to cooperate with me so.

tldr: it’s been on and off most of my life, but doesn’t cause me much of an issue, and thankfully I am feeling much better than i did a few days ago
