thank you for writing about elena 🙏
I'm glad that you have enjoyed the little tidbits I've written about her here and there! 😊 Elena is one of my top favorite characters in the Tellius series, despite us knowing very little about her, so she is always on my mind.
I guess it's cause of the kind of character she must have had, to throw everything away and start over in hiding to help a laguz, despite being raised in Daein. The kind of character to choose to be a bishop in Daein, despite the country mistrusting and disliking religious figures due to corruption (implied/stated in the Daein overview in the Tellius Recollections).
Anyway, I love her, and I'm glad you enjoy me writing about her.

Tibarn X Elincia is an absurdly underrated ship. Tibarn declares her the craziest (and bravest) Beorc he's ever met after her decision to stand between Begnion and the Laguz in Crimea, Bastian says he shouldn't leave Tibarn alone with Elincia after learning how the Laguz parent of a Branded loses their powers, they're both green and flying, and, most importantly of all, they're not adopted siblings. (Seriously, does anyone ship Geoffrey x Elincia) Also, they're both awesome, and in my headcanon the reunited Ashunera fixes the curse on the parents of the branded so they can have several very green very dangerous children and merge the Serenes forest and Crimea into one great country where everyone lives in harmony.
(p.s. I know this is the gayest of all websites and Tibarn x Reyson is probably the favored ship, but I have to stand up for my rarepair)

My daydreams have been swaying back to Soren stuff partly because of your content and in a string of thoughts I ended up wondering what your thoughts were on Almedha's combat abilities outside of her laguz form. Do you think she would learn some form of combat other than laguz form? Before or after losing that form? What kind of unit do you think she'd be if she did? or other thoughts about it etc
Yeah I've been posting here a lot due to a combination of work from home assignments, procrastination, and getting back into FEH more seriously. Glad to see I'm influencing the community(??)
As for Almedha's potential combat ability...that really depends on how brave and creative you want to be with it. Given what we know about her personality it's safe to assume she doesn't really care about the rules or sticking to convention. She had no problem at all running away from home to marry a beorc and having a mixed race baby so I bet she'd be willing to learn new skills after losing her transformation ability. Especially if she felt like it would help her connect with her mercenary son.
Laguz aren't supposed to use weapons? Dragon princess dgaf give her a knife or a sword or a lance. (I think a Lance would be cool. I really like Lance infantry units but they're so underutilized, plus you get the noble lady with naginata imagery).
If you think of it from the perspective of a hypothetical Tellius sequel set far in the future, which is my favorite thing to muse about, then they could honestly do something completely unexpected. Imagine if they decided to implement a new game mechanic like they did with Engage, where certain characters get access to a unique skill, or a new type of magic or something.
Ashunera decides to acknowledge the branded as her ideal symbol of unity between the races and grants them (and their laguz parent) a new ability. Let them tap into the beast side of their blood, which is largely ignored in the main games, and get a power up or a partial transformation or something.

My hot take is that the unfortunate implications "lizards bad" thing in Fodlan is it's a botched attempt at the "hey the gods need to back off a little" thing that has been a theme in other FE games like Radiant Dawn and SoV (idk how much of a thing it was in Gaiden). Consider fallen Egg's forging bonds with "look it's that thing you hate, gods!" Thing is Nabateans are less like overpowered beings meddling in people's affairs and more like some dudes trying not to get cannibalized
The infortunate implications with "Lizards bad" is how about it ticks several well-known boxes about how to demonise a certain group of people and to use them as scapegoats for "everything going wrong in the world".
Note that Edel's FB didn't involve Ashera or Yune, but Mila and Duma who are, on top of being regarded as gods, lizards.
Also the "crests bad" and "crests = reason why the world sucks" suddenly becomes very disturbing when we learn crests are litterally the blood of another sentient race.
I thought it was common sense that people shouldn't be based on their blood, but on their actions, that's what Tellius kept on showing/telling.
Also, RD's theme isn't about gods needing to back up, unless some people didn't bother to unlock the Lehran ending where, hey, Ashunera returns.
FE15's ending has always been not to grow too cocky, because even Gods depart or sleep or go cray-cray, Men can always ruin things.

Wait wait I have another idea (feel free to do one/both/neither)
1. Lie
2. Ashera, Yune, or Ashunera
(Sorry to keep bugging you lol)
(Thank you for another ask!! You are not bugging me, I’m always happy to receive attention)
“You’re… Yune now, correct?”
Yune glanced up from where she had been kneeling on the floor, waiting for the mortals to finish their short rest before leading them up to the next floor. The mortal hovering over her was one she recognized as Ike’s shadow.
“That’s right. Did you need something…” Scrunching her face up, Yune wracked her memory for the boy’s name. “Soren, was it?”
Soren hummed an affirmative. “You spoke to Stefan earlier,” he said, his words deceptively dispassionate.
Yune could sense the chaos burning within his heart, a powerful cocktail of emotions hidden behind a frosty mask of indifference. She recalled what Micaiah had said about him— a warm core attempting to melt through the ice.
“I did,” Yune confirmed.
“Is it true?” Soren asked. “Was it all a lie?”
Yune blinked. She thought back to Stefan’s response, the nonsensical laughter.
“It's all been a lie! For hundreds of years, we've faced persecution, abuse, and isolation. And for what? A lie! What's not to laugh about, huh? Hahaha…”
“I’m sorry,” Yune said. It was the only thing she could think to say. She felt a pang in her chest, Micaiah’s heart breaking for this kindred soul. Yune wondered if Soren would laugh, too. She hoped not. There was something terribly disturbing about it, about hearing a laugh — a sound generally used to express joy — to ring so hollow, to carry so much sorrow. But even so, Yune was determined to tell him the truth.
“I don’t know where that belief came from, but it didn’t come from me. Or from Ashera. We had no idea that beorc and laguz could have children together. But all we’ve ever wanted is a world where laguz and beorc can co-exist, in peace and harmony. We wouldn’t… we would never condemn such a thing—“
Soren held up a hand. Yune recognized the mortal gesture was meant to shut her up, so she closed her mouth.
“That’s all I wanted to know,” Soren said. “Thank you. If you’ll excuse me…”
Yune opened her mouth again, but somewhere deep inside, Micaiah advised her to leave the matter alone. And so Yune watched as the boy left, his expression and body language betraying nothing of his thoughts.
Yune had to wonder if that was better or worse than Stefan’s laughter.

Nel and Raval broke the Internet. We have a serious debate on whether or not Dragons are acceptable of siblings incest with people even wondering how on earth dragon reproduction works.
I think they've just broken my inbox. I made an observation preemptively joking about how this was going to become a thing, and for some reason this is what's getting me dozens of anons. I've been a vocal critic of Avatars as a concept and have certainly never cared about shipping them with anyone, and yet here we are. It really is quite baffling; hopefully you all stick around for my next paralogue video this weekend and sub to my channel (let's go 500 subs!). Anyway, more anon perspectives:
So the fandom will never accept that the alternate universe equals to an excuse as to why there is no siblings bound between the main game siblings and the twins ? Man we are doomed. I guess that Nel and Rafal needs to screams a bit more about how their Sombron is not Alear's Sombron as if the developpers did not made it clear enough.
"normalizing harmful relationships" ?? what ?? ehm. so it's the people won't dont separate reality from fiction despite the fact that nobody will be able to one day travel dimension and marry the children of their own parent's counterpart.... god, even the game itself doesn't want it to be incest and is trying SO hard
I love how you basically stated all the reasons why a "morally good healthy ship" is not so healthy nor moral according to the very own anti' definition. I guess that there is something about people saying "love is love" in real life but when it's fictional character, it's literaly a death battle.
I think I know why the "Alear is dead" is brought on. Because from the start all ships were technically fucked up. No need for lolis, siblings, teenagers, old man or whatever relationship ties Rafal and Nel with Alear. If were on morality, all characters are marrying a dead person so even healthy and moral ships end up being immoral (asides from the whole species mixing that proved to be nothing but problem as it motivated Ashunera to make a flood). Good job Fire emblem.
This is going to be the Fates situation ALL over again. Except people this time will be petty with the whole separate dimension thing. We will have the anti trying to crave out, and the other who buy the excuse because they don't like incest while "Nel is waifu". and now that rafal has been confirmed to be a tsundere that like sweets... Yeah, Rafalear is going to be the great winner of the controversial not controversial pairing.
Ah yes, the infamous Byleth discourse because people don't know nor want to admit that grooming is not even age factor as there is kid that groom each other and some of them can be called pedophile. Wait till they discover that youngester can sexually assault older people, with the oldest of the party being the victim.
I gotta say, it must be very miserable to have an anti mindset when it comes to shipping, especially with a series like Fire emblem, which doesn't give a crap about power-imbalance like they do. I mean this is a series that has lord-retainer pairings, noble-commoner, incest, student-teacher, etc. I mean at this point, it's kinda FE's brand and it'd be a lot easier if people just accept that FE is a weird series that doesn't care about power dynamics in the same way Clamp didn't care about power imbalance with its relationships. It all just reveals that at the end of the day, these antis don't actually care about the real life victims, cause if they did, they would boycott the series and encourage people to do so like the moral satanic panic guardians of before. It's why I actually begrudgingly respect the people who do boycott Fire Emblem for "problematic elements", cause at least those guys are consistent with their moral uptight behavior.
Fe players : Alear and the twins are siblings as they share a dad
The whole DLC + the twins interactions with Alear and Veyle na dthe emblems denying it and making it canon taht they are not siblings and that the 2 Sombrons are different being just sharing a name and similiraties : are we a joke to you ?
God I am tired. Seriously ? the twins come from a dimension where Firene loves war, Brodia is the peaceful one, all the characters are complete opposite of their game counterpart, where Alear is not even Sombron's kid nor THE SAME GENDER AS THE ONE CHOOSEN BY THE PLAYER and they still think that Sombron is the same as main game Sombron ??? And we both knew that even if the twins were Lumera's kid, they would still call it incest because Lumera adopted Alear and made them a half divine dragon !! there is no way out.
my God it's insane. People really tries so hard. They went into a full rent over Alear's anatomy despite it being a mystery I mean their are originally a fell child, but then they got breeded with divine blood making Alear a half breed of both dragon's race, then they turn into a zombie and then into a Emblem with their hair being even more chaotic as we have 0 idea if the full blue hair made them full divine dragon or not. Worst, they even wonder if Sombron's DNA is the same in the paralele universe. My GOD JUST LISTEN TO WHAT THE GAME IS SAYING !! There is literaly not a single moment of the alt version speaking without making it clear that they are different people. Never though we could still be broken after all of this yet here we are !!
I totally get being uncomfy with some pairings but does it matter at the end ? Alear and their spouses will still give birth to either a monstruosity of a human child mixed with a mix of divine and fell blood while Alear can have children OP as hell with the twins, a broken monster dragon child with mixed blood while taking into account that Alear also become a mixed of Corrupted x Emblem hence a dead living. Either way we are cursed
Alright I have completed the DLC characters supports. I think it's safe to assume that Alear is to the twins what Rin kagamine is to Len kagamine.
I feel like I must conclude that Alear/the twins is not an incestuous ship but that because people think it is or that it looks like it we are gonna have a whole wave. Yeah never mind that i will soon see Rafal/Alfred fanart blooming when the lad are literally calling themselves brothers, something that Rafal never did with Alear, and that Rafal kind of turned Alt!Alfred into a Corrupted and cause his death... is it double standard ?
Gregory is the only Romantic DLC S Support, these anons onto nothing 😭😭😭😭
This is going to backfire into people saying "would you ship Celine and Alfred just becaus they are not related in another dimension" but yeah it's kinda the idea because Alternate Celine would not be our Alfred's brother so technically it's not the same as shipping the regular Celine with the regular Alfred. except it is with Alear and the twins and that they are never siblings in any dimension and I am feeling depressed writing this because why are we fighting over pixel hooking up ?
Are we gonna talk about how from the twins perspective they are marrying someone they are not related to but is dead in their universe whereas from Alear's perspective they are marrying someone they are not related to but simply did not exist in their universe ?
We literlay went through a DLc were our units could kill counterpart of themselves while getting 3 units who are polar opposite of the one we wanted to have. It can't get any weirder, not even with those fake incestuous support.
I feel like the problem of the game justification if the shippers use it would be to face people who would told them "then why don't you ship the Royals with the alternate version of their siblings" and them being grossed out but the thing is context : the twins keeps denying they are Sombron child and asserts that Sombron and another sombron are different people + they never act as siblings with Alear + the fact taht in both dimensions they are never related. So why this open the door to some pairings I find unsavory like Alcryst/ALt Diamant, it at least would not be real incest... but it is also never real incest because fictional characters are not related to each other unless you are asked to believe so.
The antis are exagerting. God won't send you to hell for liking a "problematic ships".

nanomachines, son | team 4 iron round
The world shifts rapidly, flashing before her eyes in a blur. It’s disorienting, enough to leave one nauseous, and as her vision swims and blurs, Elincia wonders if it will ever end.
Then it halts, abruptly. Her head jerks forward as she tries to steady herself. Their surroundings haven’t changed at all, strangely. Yet her garb has and so has that of her comrades. She breathes a sigh of relief. Thank Ashunera that Julius’ accursed hat is a thing of the past. Their foes have changed too, multiplied as well unfortunately.
Lilina is standing once more, at least. Or more accurately, flying, of which Elincia is admittedly rather jealous. Being grounded on the battlefield frustrates her to no end.
“Caeda, be careful! We don’t know how dangerous these things are,” Queen Crimea calls out, dashing over as fast as the hem of her robes will allow her. Whilst used to wearing long skirts, it really is an impediment during battle. She skids over, next to the airborne pegasus knight and feels yet another pang of jealousy. If she has to be trapped in such a terrible situation, she could at least have her beloved steed by her side. “Ah, I miss the skies already. Here, let me patch you up before you fly off into battle. We’re all a little sore after the last battle.”
Elincia casts Recover on Caeda. Roll d20: 2! 5 HP recovered Caeda has 7.5/10 HP remaining.
The mental block she felt earlier still lingers, but the spell she casts now is more powerful. It helps make up the difference, reinvigorating the marine haired woman to fight another round.
“Good luck! I believe in us, as a team!”

Guessing what a non-hateful term for the Branded would be, or, what do laguz and beorc actually mean, anyway?
In the Tellius games, there are the beorc and laguz. Beorc who hate laguz call themselves humans as a point of pride, whereas laguz who call beorc humans are using the term as an epithet. Beorc who had laguz will call them "Sub-human" and "half-breed."
Then there are the people who are both beorc and laguz. Because their mixed blood is considered a sin and their existence an affront to the goddess herself.
It's a cross between a beorc and a laguz. Such a taboo union violates every teaching of the goddess. And of society. We are untouchables. Abominations. Condemned to a life of hatred and shunning from both races.
These individuals are called "Branded" by beorc for the "mark of sin" that appears on their bodies
This mark on my forehead is the proof.
One day, the laguz blood shows itself, marking the child’s body with a brand.
This [mark] is proof that the blood of both beorc and laguz course through me. And so, I am anathema to both.
They are referred to as "parentless" by laguz as laguz try to deny that they exist at all.
Yes, that's it. The laguz do call us that. "Parentless," as if to deny our heritage. As if to deny that we are their kin. That's how the laguz treat us—as if we should never have been born.
Ike, local white-boy, dislikes Branded, and I'm sure he would hate parentless just as much, if not more.
???: Yes. He and I are both Branded. Ike: …Don’t use that word. You...are both people. Just like me and everyone else.
So what would be a polite term for them? We are given no answers.
But that's not going to stop me. Theorizing and spoilers after the cut.
The Branded came to be after the goddesses fell asleep, with the first Branded being born of two of the goddess's heroes, so neither Ashera nor Yune even knew that Branded could exist (let alone make laws against them), so they could have come up with a term in the game, but Yune doesn't, and Ashera is all "meh, they shouldn't exist either anyway because all life is a blight on the world" so she wouldn't. It goes without saying that the original goddess that Ashera and Yune are split from, Ashunera, wouldn't have had a name for the Branded either.
So, what would they be called? Let's examine what all the different peoples are called.
First, there are the common ancestors of the laguz and beorc, the "Zunanma." In Japanese, they are マンナズ (Literally "Mannanzu"). The laguz in Japanese are ラグズ (Literally "Raguzu"). The beorc in Japanese are ベオク (Literally "Beoku").
Laguz is a letter in an ancient runic alphabet called "Elder Futhark," and the Japanese name for Zunanma, Mannanzu, seems to be a clear reference to the Elder Futhark rune "Mannaz."
Tumblr media
What about beorc then? It's not on the chart of Elder Futhark runes? Did we just make things up? Beorc is the Old English label for the Elder Futhark letter Berkana. The developers using the Old English name for Berkana and using the Proto-Germanic names Laguz and Mannaz instead of the Old English Lagu and Mann is an odd choice from a consistency perspective, but maybe they just wanted to keep it short or they liked how Beorc sounds over Berkana. Mannaz and Laguz both sound more fantastical than Mann and Lagu, so I don't blame them for using the original Elder Futhark names for those two.
So here are the three Elder Futhark runes the developers used when creating the games (Meanings are provided by Kittie Bernott):
ᛗ Mannaz - literally "Humanity" ; Individuality, Friendship, Society, Cooperation, Help
ᛚ Laguz - literally "Water" ; Intuition, Emotions, Flow, Renewal, Dreams, Hopes & Fears
ᛒ Berkana - literally "Birch" ; Femininity, Fertility, Healing, Regeneration, Birth
Why the localization team got Laguz and Beorc correct but decided to just phonetically reverse Mannanzu into Zunanma instead of using Mannaz is beyond me. They had to have known that the names were all Elder Futhark runes to arrive at Beorc and Laguz. I guess they didn't expect it to be such a big thing in the sequel, since Zunanma is used once in the PoR script, and then they were stuck with the consequences of their decision in RD.
But that is neither here nor there. In examining the Elder Futhark runes, we can see that there is a sort of synergy to their appearance, as Berkana and Laguz share similar design elements with Mannaz:
ᛗ Mannaz - An "M" with an "X" at the top that makes two triangle shapes.
ᛚ Laguz - it looks like Mannaz was cut in half vertically, and the bottom part of the triangle at the top was erased
ᛒ Berkana - it looks like Mannaz was cut in half vertically, and the second half was rotated 180° and imposed over the first half.
Tumblr media
If we look through the Elder Futhark chart, we can find 3 other runes that also look similar to Berkana, Mannaz, and Laguz.
Rune 8, ᚹ Wunjo - literally "Joy" ; Pleasure, Comfort, Harmony, Prosperity, Reward, Success. Wunjo is exactly half of Mannaz; laguz with an extra line to make a closed in section where laguz is open; like Berkana with the bottom triangle removed.
Rune 19, ᛖ Ehwaz - literally "Horse" ; Transportation, Movement, Progress, Trust, Change. Ehwaz looks like two laguz runes mirrored; and thus like a big "M" where Mannaz is an M with two triangles at the top; not much in common with Berkana beyond the angles.
Rune 24, ᛞ Dagaz - literally "Dawn" ; Awakening, Certainty, Illumination, Completion, Hope. Dagaz looks like the two triangles of Mannaz without the bottom half; like Berkana was broken in half and the two halves were facing each other; and laguz could fit in it.
Of the three of these, I like Dagaz the most. The goddess Ashera and Yune come from is the goddess of dawn, Ashunera, and I like the idea of symbolically tying them to the goddess after so many centuries of falsely being considered an affront to her teachings. Also, of all of them, Dagaz has the best mouth feel to me. This is even after considering using the Old English names for the runes (Wynn, Eoh, and Dæg, respectively), since we use Beorc and not Berkana.
So, anyway, that's my thoughts on the matter. Do with that as you will.

parent trap
For reasons unknown to anyone else, a mother wyvern has rejected her newborn wyvern and refuses to care for it. The task is now up to some brave volunteers to acquire a friend for life… or the scars. [Grants Flying +1]
@atypicalsenerio
“Come on, now,” Micaiah chided, healing another scratch the small wyvern had given her absentmindedly with one hand as she let it gnaw on her bundled up coat with another, “how many times do you have to attack me to understand I won’t do the same?”
Micaiah descends another inch down the tree and hears the wyvern let out a startled cry. It attempts to crawl out of her grasp, but Micaiah - even knowing as little as she does about the creatures - can tell its wings are nowhere near strong enough to carry it anywhere but plummeting to the bottom of the tree. Sighing, she shifts it in her arms again, and looks down to see what progress they’ve made; predictably, it’s not very much.
However, she also sees a familiar head of hair down the mountain trail and closing her eyes to better sense his energy only confirms it; Soren was also taking a walk this afternoon. Leave it to Ashunera to send her blessings in odd  ways.
“Soren!” Micaiah calls, wadding up her coat into a better ball for the wyvern as she does, “Soren, there’s no point in ignoring me I know it’s you, and I could really use your help!”
If she recalled correctly he had a flying mount of his own, and if Julian was anything to by may have had a better touch with animals than Micaiah even.
