My cousin, a published writer, a well-known poet in my country and a literature professor, for whom I've always been no.1 support ever since her first attempts at writing in high school, told me that I must stop writing as a hobby because that's her thing and since I'm writing fantasy mostly my writing could never have any important artistic value anyways.

#what happened was that i was feeling really down these past few days #like mental health dead in mariana trench #and i went to visit her because she lives like 10 minutes away and has a cat i can play with #but yesterday morning a friend of mine made a fanart (i guess i can call it that) of a fanfic i am writing for the five of them #she sent it to me and said she's also working on an actual painting on a camvas of her fave scene from my original story #and i was so surprised and exicted #that's actually a too mild description #and when i was visitting my cousin i showed her the pic of the drawing on my phone and explained it to her and she just said ....ehh.. #and started texting someone #i was sitting there feeling stupid and thinking wow you could have at least praised my friend's art sytle or something #and when i was getting ready to leave she asked me if i was aware my writing has no artistic merit and fantasy is trivial literature #so i should just stop wasting time on that and focus on developing my art style more for her future poetry collections #i do the art for her book covers #and added how we already have an established writer in the family so i should focus on my role - becoming a good pharmacist #and she knows how much i hate that i'm studying pharmacy like it's the no.1 cause of me hating the direction in which my life is going #finished it off by saying she feels like what she's doing in going to be really great and important on a large scale one day #and how she wants me to continue being her shadow that follows and supports her #i left went home and started at a wall for hours #i just feel so dumb for getting excited over a silly drawing of something not more than 5 people will ever read #i genuinely hate the idea of people reading anything i write so most likely writing will just remain a hobby for me #and now i feel like the most stupid person on earth and am this close to deleting all my word documents from both my laptops

If anyone else is trying to figure out postal 1 dudes concept art design. i wrote out a diagram with notes and layered parts trying to figure out general anatomy and layering outfit details, including notes for how to draw certain things like face shape and how his hair is parted, including additional cropped images for shirt layering

It is stupidly, ridicuously indepth and i figured if i was going to do it as like a brain stimulating thing i may as well upload to share with yall too <3 Apologies if my handwriting is a little hard to read or for awkward color choices.

I think it demonstrates a singularly spectacular lack of reading comprehension and/or curiosity about current music played on UK and US radio stations

#even with a hella detailed view into the specifics around Louis that came out last week #the way someone's gonna read that as a ban?? #so i guess we can just say anyone beyond the current top 20 artists/songs played ad nauseum on any radio station across the land is banned #nobody's banning people--your fave's not the flave #i challenge thee to listen to 8 hrs of radio on UK or US airwaves and jot down what you hear #do it for a full week #see if you can see the pattern lol #this reminds me of that article i saw linked on twitter #about the musical mush pervading most music providing platforms #that and the fact that the 'test' described in that louis piece are nothing new--same vibes (same test!) for 20+ years #it's only getting worse with actual algorithms taking out the guesswork but yes this is the music landscape #it's just a funny-ass way to frame it #almost as if people don't understand the actual definition of the word banned #if you want to keep it in the one direction realm #niall's about to be banned #zayn's banned #harry was banned for a fair bit #i highly doubt louis's going to change what he's doing to chase radio 1 #and so! #he's not! #if it makes people feel more heroic to say their fave is banned well...join the club of successful artists currently banned #yet still producing incredible music and touring etc #rakin' in tons of cash #idk man i'm totally happy with my faves being 'banned' off radio 1 #but i also know it's the world's stupidest false flag of a statement to make lmaoooooooo #i'm a big fan of this struggling indie artist--her name's beyonce #haven't heard of her? well that's because she's currently banned from radio play on UK and US radio stations

like. why is the 80s-esque love song heavier than the song about eating zombie jesus. why is the hymn that opens up by invoking the major lords of hell soft compared to the song about smoking weed to get a demon sugar daddy

#the band ghost #obsessed with tobias' development as a lyricst btw #eras 1 and 2 were his edgy phase you can really tell he didn't yet have a well-defined direction for ghost #but it's still great #and i get it yeah! all artists evolve!! this is normal #but it IS funny to me that as the papas and the subjects they treat got “softer” (less traditionally creepy) #the music actually got harder

#also really hope louis’ team has something up their sleeves to get fan excitement up for the release week because boy is this weak and they #really should do better to ramp it up #post tiktoks with tiny snippets of the songs and having the fans guess what song it is for example #or something to boost fan engagement because ive been through many impending album releases in this fandom and this is not it #the excitement is quite mild #they did a big push for bigger than me and a lot of it seemed to me to be for promo rather than for the single #there was scarcely anything new for out of my system in the sense that the questions are still the same as they were for btm #they are circulating the same old and it’s not interesting for many people to watch and then they manage to sneak in babygate always and in #quite ridiculous senses like him listening the album first and stuff and while i still think there’s a reason for this (and i’ve spoken #about what i think may be happening with that and with the reasons for it before so i’ll not repeat myself) #but it just alienates more and more people and with the promo being repetitive there’s nothing much to outweight it for many people #and unfortunately since louis himself is saying he does not care for charts the fans are not very motivated to stream and do listening #parties as they used to be when getting to number 1 was encouraged and by the boys and desirable #plus imho they messed up the tour announcement and sale which shouldve come after the album comes out because people will know what they’re #buying tickets for #but anyway i wonder whether there’s something up still with sabotage of louis and radios not playing him and stuff #because despite the emphasis on him being free and in control there are so many old patterns recurring that it’s incongruent #im really excited for the album and the music and the direction louis is going to take artistically and creatively #but some things about his promo still seem very off #especially knowing what an astute businessman he is and just how deep an understanding he has #of his fanbase as well as the GP and marketing #also i really do think it’s purposeful they’re building on chicago and danielle associations and ramping up babygate and that E is out #for good
