I have a question regarding how you draw.
How do you draw boys' mouths without making mistakes? I try, but they always come out weird or I don't like the way they look.
Do you have a model or do you watch the series over and over again until you find the perfect mouth?
-cries in español-
So mouths are very fun in the Rise style! I will say, studying as many screenshots as you can will massively help, Ive watched the show so much that I don’t really need to look up references for expressions, and if I go off model I don’t much mind. And sometimes I’ll draw and erase over and over until I get the exact look I want. It really is just practice, practice, practice!
But just a few quick tips that I personally try to stick to!
Most of the turtles have this little Z on the prominent side (whichever side they’re facing), then the middle of their upper lip has an curve or arch. This will typically (but not always!) be a consistent starting point, no matter what expression you’re doing. Next, adding little creases and dimples on the sides can help make various expressions stronger. For teeth, I tend to keep them very simple, unless they are clenched, then I’ll have some fun with making them sharp and adding a few small peaks of gum showing. Less detail is usually better when drawing sets of teeth, unless you are going for comedic realism—in that case more details can add a humorous note to an angry expression.
Don’t be afraid to make the mouth or eyes bigger or smaller than they should be. If they take up more space or get mushed closer together, it can really help push the feeling you want to convey. Truthfully, as long as it looks good as a whole, things can shift off your guidelines. Squash and stretch are a huge staple of cartooning, and you don’t need to adhere so strongly to following realistic feature placement, as long as it makes enough sense, looks good, and it gets your point across.

Hey artist if I commissioned an oc drawing for you and sent a google doc full of things like references, outfit explanations, posing ideas, personality (such as “they’re very bouncy/bubbly”) for said posing and (if it’s 2 characters) relations like “they’re twins” or is that too much? I don’t wanna overdo it and overwhelm y’all with all this information but I also just wanna try to make things as easy as possible by just….writing things out

I have some very fav artists of tumblr, and I wanna ask them something important in a post, but I don’t want to bug them because I know they are all very busy working on such amazing works for us readers. But I’m gonna give it a shot and I SINCERELY apologize for bothering you awesome people! But how do you guys stay motivated with drawing when you finish something and feel burned out? Do you guys get burned out RIGHT after a project (like one page or smthn) or do you guys last longer? Sorry to bother again but I would appreciate the help (but you don’t have to answer of course) thnx!

What do you use to create your illustrations?
Just wondering,
And have a great day!
Digital: iPad Pro and Procreate
Traditional: Himi gouache, Prismacolor pencils and just regular 0.7 mechanical pencils for sketching.
I shared my digital brushes a couple posts ago

This is a question out of genuine curiosity and not fishing for compliments. Why exactly do you guys like my art/characterizations/designs/etc.? What parts of it draw you to it? I find such feedback to be intriguing.

I'm weak for exposure, I'm the stereotypical artist who loves when her art is being shared around or used as icons and avatars, so if you want to post it somewhere, no need to ask, would like some credit or link to the post maybe, so i can get the dopamine rush from likes-

** The brackets are optional for the artist to answer themselves.
Weird questions to ask your local Tumblr artist (now made legal):
1. What canon character(s) do you love to draw the most? (And why?)
2. What do you think makes your art iconic?
3. What technique(s) is/are you using that you feel is wrong, but you have no idea how to go about it?
4. What type of colors do you like using in your art? (And why?)
5. What type of canon character and/or OC do you think has good design? (And why?)
6.  What type of brushes do you usually use?
7. Any funky lil art tips?
8. Are there artists that inspire you (and maybe shaped the way you draw your art)?
9. How many drafts you have right now, be honest-
10. Do you have other social media platforms to find you?
11. What do you like in your OC *can insert a specific OC of artist*?
12. Which OC do you love to draw the most? (And why?)
13. What do you wish you could add in your art but can’t because you either forget to or you developed the habit of drawing this way too hard that you just can’t add this detail in? **definitely not blogger’s personal experience**
14. Funniest thing that happened to you during the drawing process?
15. Most frustrating thing that happened to you during the drawing process?

❗Dear riggers and model makers ❗
Got a question for u!
I am currently making my own vtuber model and wanted to 'know if I am meant to draw all the mouth shapes too? Would this make it easier to rig or too complicated?
Iv been going over it a lot in my head and I don't know who to ask sooooo I decided to ask the void of tumblr
Short version - do I draw all these mouth movements for my vtuber model or leave it for the riggers and just draw the smile? 👇

I'm having trouble with creating an audience and I'm barely getting any traction. Does anyone know a place where I can post my art and be noticed?
Most social media apps don't have 'specific' areas like Reddit, so it's hard to get traction. But on the other hand, subreddits are too niche and I can't drive people to see my TFLOC stuff.

I have a laptop with a 1060 in it ... it can't exactly run windows these days with the bloat. I want to turn it into a portable drawing machine that can run Krita and upload my shit art to github and social media(if I so want). For this reason I'm falling down the Linux rabbithole again. I'm mildly proficient but would love peoples Linux reccomendations for an old gaming PC to be turned into a Krita/GIMP art machine.

Hi there! I'm such a fan of your work and have been for so long. I love to see your sketches. I'm curious - what is your process in sketching? What are the different colors of layered sketches? Do you start with a lighter color and refine with the darker ones? Thank you!
What-ho! Thank you so much and sorry to answer this late! Yeah, that's pretty much it. I like to be able to see the older sketches underneath because sometimes it gives me an idea for a stylization or a change in composition that I wouldn't thought of otherwise.

Your art is so wonderful!! How is it you choose such great colors??? (Like the Lucid painting for example) the colors you choose really help convey the mood of each piece
Thank you so much! Colors are my main approach to communicating emotions visually, since depicting expressions and body language is more difficult for me. I'm very happy to hear that I succeed at doing just that. I've attached the time lapse (thank you CSP) in hopes that it could help clear out some things about this particular painting of mine. Personally, I enjoy seeking inspiration from traditional art painters! In particular, oil paintings. And, I try to approach digital paintings similarly in terms of paying attention to the relativity and relationship of colors interacting with one another. I'm a completely self-taught artist so I don't even have the exact vocabulary to guide you from, unfortunately.. I wish I was experienced enough to be able to explain the precise art theory principles that I keep in mind while painting, but, I'll attempt to collect some available resources that may help cover the subject in an easy and intuitive way to read and learn: • https://www.celebratingcolor.com/what-background-color-do-i-paint/ • https://justpaint.org/neutralizing-color/ • https://emptyeasel.com/2008/12/30/the-role-of-color-in-art-how-to-use-color-to-enhance-painting/ • https://art2art.org.uk/blog/how-to-make-yellow-oil-paint-appear-to-glow-part-1 • https://art2art.org.uk/blog/how-to-make-yellow-oil-paint-appear-to-glow-part-2 I sincerely hope that it was able to clear some useful information for you!

Alright question time.
I'm so shocked that people find it odd that I (usually, but not always) do lines second!
How do y'all know where to put the lines if you can't see the form first?? There's gotta be more lines second people out there!
When adding line art to a drawing I imagine it like wrapping pieces of string around a 3D form to give it definition and to deepen the darkest part of the illustration. I can't wrap lines around a form that I can't see!
