This tournament is focused on the men’s peloton. If there’s demand for it and if I have the time, I’ll do poll for the women’s peloton after this.

You can submit a cyclist for the tournament by messaging this account with the cyclist you’d like to submit, and some propaganda for them too. For a cyclist to be eligible for submission, they have to have been active this year. Cyclists who retired at some point this year are permitted. You can submit anywhere up to five cyclists, but you do not have to submit that many if you don’t want to.

There will be 32 slots overall, but 6 of these slots will be filled by The Big Six (Pogačar, Vingegaard, Evenepoel, Roglič, van Aert and van Der Poel) who will get in automatically. That leaves 26 free slots for any other cyclists, no matter how obscure, who you may like to submit.

Submissions will initially be open for a week, but if we do not have enough cyclists by then I’ll keep them open longer and people who’ve submitted the maximum amount will be allowed more.

If there are more than 26 cyclists submitted, ones with the most submissions will get in. If there are ties for number of submissions that means that it is still unclear, we will run prelims.

In the tournament, each poll will last one week.

Alright. Alaimbert de Arrier.

Mixed. His mother was a traveling musician from Ishgard and his father a botanist from Gridania. He gave her some flowers "on the house" when she visited to do a show at the Amphitheater in Gridania.

Well, he gave her more than that. But the flowers were a start to their rendezvous.

When she returned to Ishgard and bore a child without a husband present, she was considerably shunned - ... but not nearly as much as one without fame and a small amount of fortune would have been. Her scandal did, unfortunately, mean she was disallowed from playing in the church for weddings, but the high houses still forked over gil to have her play her various instruments at their soirees and fetés.

And, of course, she still made a pretty penny when traveling - ... once her son was old enough to be away from her bosom, anyroad. On a few occasions, as an older boy, he did join her.

Alaimbert never did have an ear for music - but he loved when they were able to visit Gridania. The Shroud had a sense of mystery to it that the little boy was fascinated by. While his mother performed, he was oft making a few gil of his own.

The botany guild quite enjoyed it when the little ones came to weed their gardens... it was cheap labor. And, as one senior member began to learn summer after summer, it meant he got to get to know his son.

It was during these yearly concerts that Alaimbert learned how to swing an axe. It was for chopping wood, aye, but an axe was an axe, the Duskwight told him. To swing at a tree was just as violent as to swing at a person - they all were living things, and they deserved kindness.

It was his tenth summer that he learned to thank the woods for what they offered.

It was not long into his teenage years that the Calamity struck. Ishgard shut it's gates, and no longer were he and his mother allowed to come and go. The greenery of Coerthas was no more.

The only way to get out of the Holy See at all was to join their military. And so Alaimbert did. Surprising both himself and his mother, he learned he was a much better dragoon than a shield-bearing knight.

(Under the dragoon fleet's signature armor, Alaimbert didn't feel so ... out of place. No longer was he not quite like his peers - no longer did his differences from his mother feel so stark. Under the plate mail, he was just himself, heritage be damned.)

Barely 20 as of Heavensward, Alaimbert is decidedly considered the black sheep of the Ishgardian dragoons. Given his bloodline - both as a son of a well-known socialite and a biracial bastard - it goes without saying that he has become kind of ... the butt of many jokes for his squadron.

(The fact that his mother's name resembles the Ishgardian word for behind if one squints does not help his case.)
