I can just see melody clinging to reader the entire time
A/N: Fun fact for someone who loves the beach and grew up by the beach I don't know how to swim lol
My Sweet Melody: Poly Eric & Ariel x Hybrid!Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Melody was now 4 years old and you and Ariel wanted to start teaching her how to swim since she loved the ocean so much and was constantly pestering you two to teach her, the only roadblock was Eric was nervous about her being out in the ocean. After talking about it some more with him and assuring him that you two would be her at all times, he finally agreed to let her learn how to swim.
You were currently in the water with Ariel waiting for Eric to come back with your water when you moved your tail and accidentally splashed Ariel which made you laugh. She just shook it off with a laugh as you two saw Eric approaching with your daughter Melody in his arms.
"Mama!" She said trying to wiggle out of Eric's arms.
"Easy sweetheart, you will get to be with your mama in a minute." He said setting her down on the beach and letting her crawl towards the shoreline where Ariel was.
"What's going on Mama?" She asked you two as Ariel held her in her arms.
"Me and your mama are gonna teach you how to swim, would you like that?" Ariel asked as she nodded her head happily.
You watched as Ariel gently set her down between the two of you, and as soon as she saw you, she paddled her way over to you before wrapping her arms around you making you smile.
"Look at you my sweet melody! You already know some of the basics of swimming." You said as pressed a kiss to her cheek.
"I wanna swim with you, mama!" She said.
"Hunny I don't think that you are ready to be swimming with mommy." Eric and Ariel said as Melody hugged you tighter.
"Alright if you wanna swim with me, then you must keep a tight hold on me at all times." You said to her as he nodded her head.
Once she was securely held on, you started to swim along making sure to go a little slower than you normally did since you had her and Ariel with you. After swimming for a few minutes, you guys went up to the surface level where you saw Ariel behind you, and Eric on the beach.
"Can you swim to mama, and show her your skills?" You asked her as she nodded her head before turning and swimming towards Ariel.
"Did you see Mama? I can swim almost as well as you and mama!" She said with a smile making you and Ariel smile.
You guys spent a few more hours out there teaching her how to swim before you two let her swim back to shore to Eric who smiled seeing her swimming on her own.

bring me to life - p.e
Tumblr media
summary: when ursula possesses y/n to make her try and trap ariel, eric knows somethings off.
prince eric x reader
a/n: this is so humbling but he’s actually the finest man i’ve ever seen
the day ariel sacrificed her voice for legs, it was bound to go to hell. the only thing she wanted in life was to be with the humans, sick of being confined to the ocean. the deal she made with ursula is that she needed approval from the royals in three days. she begged to understand their world, and after she met y/n and eric, she fell in love with the above world.
they were the most gracious and accepting people on the island. they strolled around with her, y/n helping her get dressed and ready, and eric showing her his collections. she never knew that the love from land was so strong until she spent the days with them.
eric glowed around y/n, ariel noticing the bright beam on his face when she came around. he talked about her like an angel, or someone from another perfect universe. ariel knew the look in his eyes, the one of full of mesmerize. ariel quickly found out that it was very mutual, y/n being so fond of eric. her love for him was stronger than the waves, and ariel knew it.
toward the end of the second day, y/n was running around the castle with eric, fooling around with ariel before being scolded by grimsby. most nights, y/n and eric go to bed together, falling asleep as he holds her. tonight was different. the air was stiff, making y/n’s anxiety peak. she decided to take a walk down to the beach to hear the waves and see the water, hopefully calming her down. the ocean was calm from the night winds, but as she sat on the rocks, it started getting harsher. the wind was blowing her hair around, as well as causing the waves to crash around her.
ursula knew the exact weak point in eric and in ariel. meeting y/n and taking her as a friend made her a perfect target to destroy ariel’s life. for eric, y/n’s the most loved. every part of her and her mind is completely admired by eric. ursula knows they’ll listen to y/n, doubting themselves too much. so, if she could convince y/n that ariel isn’t good enough, maybe she had a shot.
“oh, child,” the eerie voice rolls through the water, making y/n move her head around trying to spot it. “a sleepless night?”
“w-who are you?” she questions, stepping away from the rock, leaving only her feet in the wet sand. she’s fully alarmed by the sight in front of her. she’s never seen something like this, leaving cold chills down her spine.
“you’ve never heard of the sea witch?” y/n nervously shakes her head naively. “it means you should listen to me, sweetheart.”
y/n’s hands remain at her side, playing with the seams of her dress. her breathing deepens, coming out more sharp in panic of the creature in front of her.
“that little ariel,” ursula begins. “is no good for this world. and i need your help to bring her back to me.”
“i can’t,” y/n whispers as she walks back further. “i can’t help you.”
“i know you can,” ursula puts her hand out and y/n cringes at the noises of her tentacles on the sand.
the sounds of y/n’s quick breaths and the swishing of ursula’s many arms has become the only thing on the beach. “n-no, no,” y/n demands. “i won’t do this.”
“fine, then!” ursula sighs. as y/n attempts to run away, hurrying out of ursula’s sight, her tentacles grip onto her sides, pulling her closer. y/n tries to yank them off, but they stick to her dress and her skin like hot glue. the air gets tighter around her, using every ounce of energy to escape the grasp of the sea witch. “i’ll just have to make you.”
the words makes y/n’s mind freeze, placing horror into her mind. she thinks about eric, wishing he were here to save her. it was too late, he was out cold in their bed, where they should be together. she knew no one was coming to save her. before she knew it, ursula cracked open a bottle, the smokey substance inside fading into y/n as she breathed it in. her irises flicked between hues of purple from ursula’s spell before returning back to the normal color. ursula knew she must leave, so y/n was left on the sand, marks on her dress as she lay on the cold ground of the beach, unconscious.
eric wakes in the morning early, prepared to explore more with y/n and collect more treasures. he rolls over to place his hand on her, but it only sinks down and he is confronted with the empty bed sheets. he immediately gets up, putting on the normal clothes as he heads downstairs to look for his love.
“grimsby!” he shouts. “have you seen y/n?”
“no, i haven’t. was she not in bed?”
“maybe she went out to the villages with ariel?”
“ariel’s upstairs, sire,” grimsby informs. eric starts to get more fearful, anything could have happened to her. his life dream used to be to explore the ocean, but now it’s just to keep y/n safe. as long as she’s with him, he’s happy. if anyone ever attempted to hurt her, there would be a new version of himself.
he walked the streets and halls of the castle with no sight of y/n. he stormed through the rooms, requesting help from guards and anyone who was free to search. every single time that anyone came back to say she wasn’t found, his heart broke off a piece.
he decided to roam down to the beaches, just in case she had made her way down here and forgotten to say something. when he spotted a bundle of soft hair, the same color as y/n’s, he sprinted over and fell on his knees in the sand.
“y/n?” he asks, placing his hands on her cheeks to straighten her head. “hey, y/n!”
her eyes flutter open, and eric immediately catches on. she doesn’t seem disoriented, she doesn’t seem alarmed. she’s different. her eyes are darkened and her expression seems uncanny. eric shivers at the look of her, he knows somethings wrong than just a fall on the beach. “are you alright, darling?”
“i’m fine,” she replies. “where’s red?”
y/n walks through the castle, leaving chaos and destruction in her path. she’s messed up the organization, and touching everything she sees. she does it with a smirk on her face as well, knowing exactly the plan.
in her head, only ursula stands, controlling her words and thoughts as y/n feels barricaded. she feels like she’s in a prison of her own mind, not being able to escape and work for herself. it’s like she’s become a puppet of the sea, saying and doing what the monsters please.
there was a party in honor of eric tonight, the queen just being thrilled that he’s home safe. it was also a way to welcome ariel to their customs, and help her get settled into the community. she hadn’t gotten her answer if she was fully accepted yet, but that wasn’t enough for ursula. if ariel wasn’t hers at the end of this, she might just have to take y/n. it’s hard work to make a bad impression of someone so genuine like ariel.
y/n walks into the party, dressed in a slim corset and purple dress as she walks onto the outdoor floor. she looks at ariel, with a toothy smirk on her face. eric spots her, making note of y/n’s watery eyes and red cheeks. somethings terribly wrong with y/n, and he doesn’t know how to save her from it.
“your majesty,” y/n says to the queen. “i need to have a word with you.”
“of course, y/n,” she places a hand on her shoulder, walking over to a corner as eric follows behind them.
“i believe that girl is not safe for this island. all the destruction and disrespect in this castle is a result of her,” eric walks in, overhearing y/n’s words and being confused. she adored ariel, and there was no way she was saying this alone.
“mother-” eric speaks, his mother putting up her hand to him. even the queen can notice something wrong with y/n’s demeanor. her features are sharper, leaving a more intimidating look to her. normally, she looks sweet and welcoming, but now she’s started to look mischievous.
“y/n, im sure it is a misunderstanding what’s happened, but- y/n, miss?”
y/n’s eyes are glued on the orange skies, looking at the sun sinking closer to the horizon. her face glows a golden tint from the light and she moves to look at the ocean. eric grabs her hand, but she swipes it away and walks past everyone. ariel has a frightened look on her face, thinking of how to save herself from scrutiny. unfortunately, as the sun dips below the line between the ocean and the sky, ariel stumbles to the floor as eric scurries to help her up.
“you’re too late!” y/n cries, smiling but also with tears. she runs over to ariel, grabbing onto her arms and yanking her off the ground. they struggle over to the balcony before ursula pops up, grabbing the two girls and diving into the water.
eric watches as his friend and his sweet girlfriend fall into the water. he’s taken aback by the tail revealed, but he needs y/n to be safe first. he got in his boat and rowed out to sea, impacting with the sharp waves and abruptness. he spotted ursula with ariel and triton under the surface, but no y/n. he panics, turning into fight mode as he tries to impale ursula with a sword. he just grazes her, just angering the creature as she sends her eels up to him. even as he’s actually attacked, he just wants to find y/n before anything else.
the battle with ursula felt like a scene from a movie. it was like it lasted days, painful, exhausting days of torment from the witch. even after he swam up to shore, y/n was nowhere to be found.
“get a boat!” eric pants. “we need to find y/n, i need to find her.”
“eric,” the queen says.
“mother, i need her-“
“relax, first, eric. we will find her. we have people out already looking for her,” she tries to comfort her son who’s in the water, discombobulated from all he’s been through today. he stared at the water, remaining on shore but still lost at sea. y/n could be anywhere and it’s out of his control.
with every last morsel of strength y/n had left, she managed to force herself to swim to shore. she lay on the hot sand, absorbing the cold water from her hair and her dress. her eyes felt like she was looking through a dirty eyeglass, the ache in her head blurring her vision. her head had one too many impacts, leaving her with a thumping pain. once she landed there, rolling onto her back to let the sun beat on her face, she couldn’t make herself stand. her muscles were overworked and weary. the warmth of the sun encapsulated her body, leaving her to dry from the soak of the sea.
eric stormed through the beaches, despite the complaints from the queen. he wasn’t going to let her escape him again and be taken. she was just an innocent person, someone who didn’t deserve the wrath of ursula.
ariel herself felt scared. she never was able to experience the same emotions as humans, until she connected with y/n. she knew ursula too well to miss her tricks. y/n would have never done that to her under any circumstance. she admired y/n on the island. ariel had discovered the disappearance of y/n, and took matters into her own hands. she explored the oceans anywhere that she could’ve fallen to, but she eventually washed up to a small island, too far from the shore of eric’s island.
she could see the floating of y/n’s dress in the high tide. she saw the swishes of hair on the ground, covered in grains of sand. she rapidly flipped her fins, pushing herself onto the sand to grab onto y/n. she swam with the unconscious body quickly to the shore of the main island, leaving her on the dry land as she returned back to the waves.
even as time passed, eric was still searching frantically, looking like a lunatic on the beaches. he didn’t stop until he was forced to by his mother, succumbing to her orders to get back in the castle. he was observed and checked out in the medical wing to make sure he wasn’t hurt too severely.
he heard shuffling in the halls, the passing of guards and orders. “alert the prince,” one says, making eric’s head perk up. it wasn’t until grimsby whipped the door open, walking in to greet eric.
“sire,” he pants. “we’ve found y/n.”
eric stands up, his face falling straight as he swiftly moved down the hallways. his footsteps ricochet through the tall passages, skipping up the stairs and seeing y/n in a small bed. her hair was tied back with a white bandage wrapped around her head.
he pauses, taking in the sight of his one and only, vulnerable and hurt on the bed. his chest rises and sinks in long breaths. he doesn’t know if he can handle looking at her sleeping body, she looks too peaceful for him to be comfortable.
as the servants cleared out of the room, eric sat beside her on the bed. he grabbed her hand as she fluttered awake, stretching her body out with a grimace on her face. “eric?”
“yes,” he whispers. “i’m here, it’s alright.”
“i don’t understand what happened, it was all so fast and then ariel-“
“shh, you’re going to be ok now,” he reassures her, running a hand on her cheek.
“but where is ariel? she dropped me off on the shoreline and i didn’t see her again,” y/n questions, fearing for her friend. when she looks behind eric, she hears a soft, gracious knock on the doors as ariel steps in in her blue dress. she has a dim smile on her lips as y/n tells her. “come in, please, ariel.”
she steps into the room, looking around at the mysterious objects in this part of the castle. the couple smiles at the curious girl until she makes her way over to y/n on the bed. “i found you on an island on the outland. it was further from the shipwreck than we were.”
“thank you,” y/n smiles, grabbing ariel’s hand and placing her other one on top of them. she looks around, her expression changing to confusion. “i guess i’ll address the problem in the room. your legs have returned.”
“my father gave me the gift of staying here with you. i’m meant to be on land, and i’ve finally been heard. i couldn’t have done any of this without you. you showed me kindness and never once treated me like i was unordinary, even though i am.”
“you don’t need to ask for respect around here,” y/n says. ariel thanks her one last time, before moving out of the room.
“you have no idea how happy i am that you’re alright,” eric remarks, shuffling closer to y/n’s body. “i was so scared i lost you.”
“i know,” y/n replies. “but you’ll never lose me, eric.” he leans forward, placing a sweet kiss on her lips as a token of gratitude.
“we’re meant to be together until the sky falls, my love.”

Jonah Hauer King fanfiction:
No warnings, just a little fluff, and mentions of burning buildings
Jonah observed as his university campus was completely consumed by flames. The fire was flowing out of the building through several holes, giving the impression that a fire-breathing dragon was inside the house, puffing away vicariously. The roof, doors, and windows were all on fire. Jonah observed numerous firefighters attempting to put out the fire as the flames flared bright red and amber, nearly a livid purple.
In no time, the flames had spread to the rest of the building. It was a great sight for the crowds, (who were kept back by their professors), lined up one behind the other, in the fire assembly area.
But even throughout all this hecticness, there was only one thing playing on his mind, knocking him sick to his stomach- y/n.
Where is she?
Is she okay?
Did she make it out on time?
What about their dogs?
His eyes dart frantically around him, the sounds of his friends talking to him blend in with the background noises and the sound of crackling fire.
"Are you okay man?" Alec asks with a hand on his shoulder?
He was certain that everyone in the room could hear his brain spinning and his heart racing at hundreds of thousands of miles per hour against his chest. It almost sounded like thunder on a stormy night.
And just when he thought his heart would burst, he caught a glimpse of a beautiful girl in the distance—better yet, it was his beautiful girl.
Y/n.
"Y/n" he calls, wided eyed, in a desperate, rushed voice.
"Babygirl, I was so worried about you" pulling her closer with his large hands and bringing her into a tight hug as he reached her from the other side of the building.
Tumblr media
"Yeah?" Looping her arms around his body, letting his hands go under her shirt to rub her hips and bury his face into her neck.
His body vibrates in response to her words on his chest, sending butterflies through his entire body. Fluttering butterflies, that never seem to end.
He leans closer to her to help maintain his balance, as the hairs on his chest spring up and his legs start to give in.
"I'm fine, I promise, I just couldn't leave them behind", looking down at the two dogs that had become the best of friends.
"I know", he smiles as they both lean down to pet their dogs and then turns to face his and her friends, who are all giving each other perplexed looks.
They were unaware of the intimacy between the two.
Sneaking around wasn't their intention- It's simply how events transpired and how the pages of their story turned out.
Jonah and y/n met in their second year of their doctors residency, when they both coincidentally tried to sneak their dogs into the "on call room" instead of leaving them at home, all alone.
Jonah claims that their meeting was fate because, after all, no one would have given the two of them together a second thought given that he was a well-liked and well-known guy, where as Y/N prefers to keep her circle small.
They began by exchanging numbers and pulling the disappearing act on each of their friends on breaks, to hang out with each other and walk their dogs in secret; away from campus grounds so no professors would find out that they'd been sneaking their dogs into their place of education.
Y/n was hesitant at first, given his social status, but slowly started to let him knock her walls down. And with time, she eventually learnt that Jonah was not the ordinary popular guy you'd usually see around. Instead, he was a beautiful, brown headed, friendly giant with a pure heart and a lot of love to give.
They fell for each other hard.
Jonah broke out of his trance when heard and saw a guy with a medical box by his side. The name tag on his uniform, reading 'Captain Bobby Nash'.
"I'm sorry son, we need to get her checked out, she inhaled a lot of smoke"
Jonah looked at her worryingly, looking between her and the paramedics that have just arrived on scene.
"It's okay, don't worry about me.
Here, take our dogs. I think we have more things to worry about" nodding her head a few times towards the professor who's currently got a mixture of relief and rage in his eyes when he notices the two dogs now standing by Jonah's side.
"Shit".
"Let's go now please" Bobby says, admiring the couple.
Their friends watch Jonah as he talks to his professor and y/n disappears once again.
They attempt to listen in but are unable to hear anything, understanding that their friends are likely in serious trouble. However, after a few minutes, when they see Jonah shaking his hand, and the professor leaning down to pat the dogs on the head, they have a gut feeling everything's going to be alright.
Jonah is pulled to the side by dogs, towards the paramedics assessing Y/N.
"Woah buddy, easy there" a guy with a quiff type hair style and birth mark on his forehead says when the dogs come up from behind him, startling him and his friend Eddie, who stands next to him.
The paramedic gives Jonah a blanket, which he wraps around himself and his girlfriend before kissing the top of her head.
"Are you okay baby, everything good?"
"Yes" she turns her neck towards him and smiles.
"Good, we should probably get the dogs checked out too" gently stroking her cheek.
"I've already checked them out, Dexter is fine, but Bella burnt her paw but I've cleaned it and I'll make sure it doesn't get infected"
He murmurs, "My perfect little vet," against her lips and then kisses her.
Tumblr media
"Let's go yeah?"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jonah's hands caresses and squeezes her thighs, smoothing up her sides and her arms. His index finger hooks under her chin as he pulls her impossibly closer. his eyes are locked on hers, and he's staring into her eyes whilst biting his lip.
Her heart flutters and the butterflies in both of their stomachs are constant. Her cheeks are all hot and she's tripping over her words as she tries to focus, but his gorgeous eyes have her hooked, reeling her in and never letting her go.
"I love you" he confesses.
"Hmm?" Tilting her head as the corner of her lips turn upwards and her pupils dilate further.
"I said I love you", kissing her lips.
"I love you too Jonah".
He smiles as he kisses her lips again- harder this time, then her cheek, her other cheek, her forehead, the tip of her nose, and her chin.
He's smiling against her skin as he watches her fall back onto the bed, inside their perfect little beach house they bought last summer, to escape from reality and be eachothers company.
The two dogs wake them up in the morning and nuzzle them to get out of bed whilst they are still tangled in the sheets and entwined in each other's arms.
They might not have a place to finish their degree programme anymore, but their professor assured that a new rule would be in place after they had rebuilt. Because they help with anxiety and despair and promote good health, dogs are permitted on campus.
The end??!!
Note: Please leave a like/comment if you wish, this is my first ever fanfic that I've done in a while, so please be nice! And thankyou @megalony for your help, your kindness is everything.

Series Masterlist, (Chapter 23)
Pairings: Leonora Lesso x Reader, Ariel x Daughter Reader, Prince Eric x Daughter Reader, Queen Athena x Granddaughter Reader, king Triton x Granddaughter Reader, Ariel's Siblings x Niece Reader & Melody x Sister Reader
Warnings ⚠️: Teasing and fluff
Pet Names/Nicknames: Little Siren, Nora, Sweetie & kiddo
Word Count: 2,765
Tumblr media
Y/N pulled Lesso through the halls of the castle. "Slow down Little Siren" Lesso said and Y/N stopped. "Sorry I'm just excited to show you around" Y/N said as she turned around to face Lesso. "It's alright just don't walk so fast" she said and Y/N nodded before walking slower. Y/N stopped in front of a white door before opening it. "This is my room" Y/N said as the two walked in to the bedroom.
Tumblr media
"It's beautiful" Lesso said before she walked over and sat down on the king sized bed. "This is a pretty big bed for just one person" Lesso said as Y/N walked over and stood in front of her. "Yeah I roll around a lot I have a hard time falling asleep if I'm by myself" she said and Lesso took hold of Y/N's hands. "Just know if you ever have trouble sleeping when break is over and we have to go back you're always welcome to come to my room alright" Lesso said and Y/N nodded. "Thank you Nora" Y/N said as she leaned down and kissed Lesso passionately. Lesso pulled away before falling back onto the bed taking Y/N with her. Y/N gasped as she landed on top of Lesso. "Nora what are y-" Lesso cut Y/N off when she rolled the both of them onto their sides. Lesso wrapped her arms around Y/N and pulled her even closer so that their legs were tangled together. Y/N nuzzled her head into Lesso's chest as she sighed. They smiled at each other before leaning in. They kissed before cuddling up to each other and falling asleep. There was a knock on the door a couple hours later before it opened. "Sweetie lunch is re- oh nevermind" Ariel said as she saw Lesso and Y/N sleeping peacefully. "Hey what's going on" Melody said as she peaked around her mother. "Awww they're adorable" Melody said. "Let's leave them be" Ariel said as she grabbed her youngest daughter and shut the door behind them.
Tumblr media
Y/N stirred as her eyes fluttered open. She looked up to see Lesso's eyes still closed. "You're staring you know" Lesso said in a raspy voice causing Y/N to blush. "N-no I'm just admiring" Y/N said causing Lesso to open one of her eyes while smirking. "If you say so Little Siren" Lesso said as she rolled into her side before wrapping her arms around Y/N. She stroked a few strands of hair out of Y/N's hair before pecking her on the lips. Y/N smiled before she scooted closer. "Good morning sleepyheads" someone said causing them to look towards the doorway. Eric was leaning against the doorframe with his arms folded while smiling. "Good morning what are you talking about" Y/N said as she sat up as well as Lesso. "You slept through the whole day yesterday" he said as he pushed himself off the doorframe. "Breakfast is ready by the way" he continued before leaving while shutting the door behind him. "We should go" Y/N said as Lesso fell back on the bed before groaning. "This bed is too comfy though" Lesso said and Y/N giggled as she got up off the bed before Lesso could pull her back down. She walked over to her closet and opened it before walking in.
She looked through her dresses when she felt arms wrap around her from behind. Y/N tilted her head to the side as Lesso started placing kisses all over her neck. She grabbed Lesso's hands and interlocked their fingers together. "Which dress are you going to pick" Lesso said as she rested her head on Y/N's shoulder. "Don't know I can't decide" Y/N said and Lesso pulled away before walking up to the dresses. Y/N sat down and watched her girlfriend search through the dresses before stopping at a light sea green dress. She took it off the hanger and turned around. "How about this one" Lesso said and Y/N stood up before walking up to her. "It's perfect" Y/N said before she stood on her tippy toes and kissed Lesso on the lips.
Tumblr media
Y/N came out of the closet as she held the dress up before walking over to Lesso who was sitting on the bed. "Can you" she said before turning around. Lesso stood up before resting on of her hands on Y/N's bare back. Y/N shivered at the touch as Lesso zipped the dress up. She leaned down and kissed Y/N's bare back. Y/N blushed brightly as Lesso turned her around. "Beautiful Little Siren" Lesso whispered out before leaning down and kissing Y/N on the lips. They made their way out of the closet and the bedroom before heading towards the dining hall. The two walked hand in hand through the halls when they reached the dining hall. "Ladies first" Lesso said and Y/N rolled her eyes before pulling Lesso with her. "Well hello you two" Skadi said as she smirked. Lesso pulled out a chair and motioned for Y/N to sit down in it. Y/N sat down as she smiled. Lesso smiled back before sitting down next to Y/N. "You guys looked absolutely adorable sleeping together all cuddled up" Sparky said and everyone looked at her. She looked around before her eyes widened in shock. "Uh you guys didn't hear that" she said as she took a sip of her drink. Y/N and Lesso looked at each other before chuckling.
After breakfast everyone got up. "Hey Y/N sweetie there's a couple surprises waiting for you in the throne room" Ariel said and Y/N looked at her mother in confusion. "What do you mean" Y/N said and Ariel looked at her husband. "Just go and see" Eric said and Y/N walked off towards the throne room with Lesso. "They're like glued to the hip now" Flounder said causing everyone to laugh. "Well they do get to do what they want here unlike at the schools" Skadi said as she looked at Flounder. Y/N and Lesso made their way to the throne room. Y/N opened the door and walked in. "Y/N/N" someone shouted before rushing over and picking Y/N up. They spun in a circle before setting Y/N back down. They cupped Y/N's face as her eyes widened in shock. "Aunt Aquata w-what are you doing here" Y/N said as she was still in shock. "Well we all decided to come home because we missed you all and look how you've grown" Aquata said and Y/N frowned in confusion before she looked over her aunt's shoulder to see the rest of her aunt's and three uncles plus her grandfather and grandmother.
"Now who's this hottie" Aquata said and Y/N looked back to see Aquata looking at Lesso. Y/N stood in front of Lesso with her arms out. "She's off limits" Y/N said as her eyes started glowing while she narrowed them. "Wait is this the woman your mother was talking about" she asked and Y/N nodded. Aquata shouted in excitement before pulling Y/N into a hug. Lesso was just standing there frozen in place as she watched the scene unfolded in front of her. Who knew Ariel had so many siblings she didn't that's for sure. Aquata pulled away before grabbing Y/N's wrist and Lesso's wrist before dragging them towards the others. "Guys this is the woman Ariel was talking about the one Y/N is dating" she said as she stopped in front of the others before letting go of Y/N and Lesso's wrists. "So you're the Dean of Evil" King Triton said as he stepped forward. Lesso just looked at him still in shock. Y/N looked up at Lesso before grabbing her arm. "Nora" Y/N said causing Lesso to snap out of it. "Yeah I am but you can call me Leonora or Lesso whichever one is fine" Lesso said and Triton smiled before shaking Lesso's hand. "I like her already even if she is the Dean of Evil" Aqilus said as he nudged his brothers causing them all to chuckle. Their sisters all rolled their eyes before looking away. Triton just sighed before looking at Y/N. "Glad you found someone kiddo I'm proud of you" he said as he ruffled Y/N's hair up. Y/N swatted his hand away as she looked away blushing brightly.
"I see you guys met Leonora" Ariel said as she walked into the throne room with the others. "Yeah we did and you didn't tell us she was this hot" Aquata said causing Attina to smack the back of her head. Aquata yelped as she grabbed the back of her head. Y/N just rolled her eyes before grabbing Lesso's hand and dragging her to the farthest side from the group. "I'm sorry about them" Y/N said and Lesso smiled before lifting Y/N's chin up. "Don't worry about it Little Siren it's fine" Lesso said as she tucked a strand of hair behind Y/N's ear. She leaned down and kissed Y/N on the lips causing someone to wolf whistle. Y/N pulled away and hid her face in her hands. Lesso looked over to see everyone looking at the two. She watched as Ariel smacked the man with reddish brown hair on the shoulder. "Alright that's enough stop teasing your Niece" Queen Athena said and nodded. "Yes mother" they all said and Y/N giggled quietly before she looked back at Lesso.
"Sorry to disturb you two but I hope you don't mind me stealing my granddaughter away from you" they both looked up when they heard Queen Athena's voice. "No not at all" Lesso said as she pecked Y/N on the lips before walking away. "You're coming with me" Athena said as she grabbed Y/N's arm. "Ariel, Aquata and Arista dears would you please join us" she said and the three followed their mother and Y/N out of the throne room. "And you miss Dean Of Evil you're coming with us" Attina said snapping her fingers. Lesso was dragged out of the throne room by the rest of Ariel's sisters causing her to growl. "Oh don't growl" Attina said as she rolled her eyes. "You'll be back with Y/N soon enough" she said as Skadi joined them. "She doesn't like anyone touching her besides Y/N" Skadi said causing Attina to look at her. "Shouldn't you be in Arendelle" she asked and Skadi shook her head no. "In a few days I will but not for the next 5 days" Skadi said and Attina raised her eyebrow.
Queen Athena pulled Y/N towards her room before shutting the door. "Where's the closet" she asked and Y/N pointed towards the double doors. She watched as her grandmother walked in the closet. "What's going on anyways" Y/N asked and Ariel sat down next to her daughter. "We're having a ball" Ariel said and Y/N looked up at her mother confused. "Why" Y/N said and Arista giggled before plopping herself down on the other side of Y/N. "I don't think we need a reason to throw a ball" she said as she leaned back on her hands. Queen Athena came out with nothing making the three frown. "Aquata dear can you go fetch that one dress" she said and Aquata's eyes lit up. "That one" Aquata said and her mother nodded. Aquata rushed off shutting the door behind her. "Now you why don't you go take a shower alright" Athena said and Y/N stood up. "Yes ma'am" she said causing her grandmother to roll her eyes.
Y/N walked out of the bathroom in just a towel. "Come come" Athena said and Y/N walked over and sat in front of her vanity when the door opened. "I got it mother" Aquata said and Y/N looked up before her eyes widened in shock. She tried to look over her shoulder but Athena moved her head back so she was facing forward. Athena started brushing out Y/N's wet hair before blow drying it. She slightly curled Y/N's hair before braiding some of it. She grabbed some hair accessories and put them in. "Alright you can turn around now dear" Athena said and Y/N turned around. "Makeup time" Arista said as she hopped off Y/N's bed. "Where's your crown sweetie" Ariel said and Y/N pointed to a suitcase. Ariel stood up and walked over to the suitcase before opening it. She took the crown out before walking over and placing it on the vanity.
Y/N came out of the bathroom again and the four stopped talking when they saw Y/N in the dress. "wow you look absolutely sweetie" Ariel said as she walked up to Y/N. "Thank you mother" Y/N said as Arista handed the crown to Ariel. Y/N bowed her head and Ariel put the crown on her head. "Now you're ready" Ariel said as she kissed Y/N's cheek.

They all made their way to the ballroom after getting ready themselves. They all heard music playing already as they stood at one of the entrances. They all made their way down the stairs before stopping at the second flight. Y/N looked over at the other side and she swallowed the lump in her throat. Lesso was standing on the other side wearing a suit that was black. She still wore her dark smoky makeup though. She was holding a black cane in her left hand as she stared at Y/N as well.

The others had already made their way down the rest of the stairs and waited for the two. Lesso snapped out of it first before walking causing Y/N to do the same. They met in the middle and Lesso smiled down at Y/N who smiled back. "Shall we my Little Siren" Lesso said as she faced forward and held her arm out for Y/N to take. Y/N took Lesso's arm before they made their way down the rest of the stairs. "You look beautiful by the way" Lesso whispered into Y/N's ear and Y/N blushed. "Well you look handsome" Y/N said causing a blush to cross Lesso's face.

Everyone clapped when Y/N and Lesso finished dancing. "I can never get enough of your dancing My Love" Lesso said as she leaned down and kissed Y/N on the lips. "EW" all the kids shouted causing everyone to laugh. Y/N pulled away and rested her head on Lesso's chest as she looked at the kids still standing near them. "Let's go sit down" Lesso said and Y/N nodded. The two made their way off the dance floor before walking over to a table and sitting down. Y/N watched as people started dancing. Y/N rested her head on Lesso's shoulder as she interlocked their fingers together. "Would you two care for a drink" someone said causing them to look up to see a man holding a tray of champagne. Y/N took to glasses before handing Lesso one. "Thank you" Y/N said and the man bowed before leaving. Y/N looked over to see red liquid in Lesso's glass now. "Nora did you turn the champagne into wine" Y/N said and Lesso didn't answer instead she took a sip. "You did" Y/N whispered out and Lesso smirked before leaning over and kissing Y/N on the cheek. Y/N just rolled her eyes as she took a sip of her champagne.
Two hours later Aquarius walked over to the two huddled closely. "I hope you don't mind me stealing my niece from you Lesso" he said and Lesso raised an eyebrow. "Aquarius let them have their alone time" Adella said as she walked over. She dragged Aquarius away as the two watched. "Why don't we get out of here" Lesso whispered into Y/N's ear causing her to smile. Lesso stood up as she set her empty glass on the table. Y/N stood up as well before taking Lesso's hand. They walked out of the ballroom and towards the garden as a few pair of eyes followed them.

Tumblr media
'UNDER THE SEA POV'
Vivia was swimming through the halls, Having a wide grin on her face. "It's the guards' Coronation day!" She announced, Her excitement shining through her tone. Passing by maidens, the royal treasury house and its two guards.
She was on her way to check if Glacliean was awake for his big day. Swiftly avoiding bumping into a vase, She arrived at Glacliean room's door and began to knock. "Glacie! Are you awake yet?" She called, hoping for her oldest brother's answer. Her smile began to fade as Glacliean's answer didn't come.
She pressed her ear against the door. "Glacliean?" She asks, her tone much more quiet and nervous.
'THE GUARDS LEADER POV'
Glacliean began to stir from his sleep, Turning on his side with his back facing the bedroom door then he heard a series of knocks on his door and a young girl's voice calling his name, "Welp can't ignore the coronation anymore." Glacliean mumbles a bit. "I'm awake Vivia, I'm coming." He called out, Sitting up in his bed and readjusting his pillow.
Vivia's anxious heart skipped a beat as she heard Glacliean's voice calling out from inside the room. Relief washed over her, and she couldn't help but let out a small sigh of relief. "Oh, thank goodness! I was getting worried," she replied, her voice filled with a mix of concern and excitement.
As Glacliean grew closer, Vivia's smile returned, and her anticipation grew. The door swung open, revealing Glacliean, his disheveled appearance contrasting with the sense of determination in his eyes. Vivia's gaze softened as she took in his tired expression.
"Glacliean, it's finally here, Your coronation day." Vivia said, their voice filled with a mixture of awe and admiration. "You're about to step into a new chapter of your life, and I couldn't be proud of you," they added, their words laced with genuine affection.
Glacliean rubbed his eyes and nodded, a mixture of nerves and excitement evident in his voice. "Thank you, Vivia. Your support means the world to me," he said, his voice tinged with gratitude. "I'm ready to embrace this responsibility and honor our family and our kingdom."
Both of them had a small conversation with a look of amazement and Determination on her face. "One day, I'll be just as strong as you, Glacliean!" She added, Glacliean chuckles before ruffling Vivia's hair. "Sure you will.. Guppy Girl." He teased, Vivia blinks before she realizes what he said. "Hey!"
'UP ON THE SURFACE POV'
The sun began to peek over the horizon, casting a warm golden glow across the land. Lorelei's eyes fluttered open, her heart already brimming with excitement for the day ahead. As she sat up in bed, a wide smile stretched across her face, filling the room with an infectious joy.
Today was the long-awaited sailing trip with Marc and Beau, a day filled with adventure and exploration. Lorelei couldn't contain her enthusiasm as she imagined the sea breeze in her hair and the thrill of discovering new sights and sounds.
Just as she was about to jump out of bed and start getting ready, Marc's voice echoed through the hallway. "Hey, Lorelei! Are you awake yet?" he called out, his excitement matching hers.
Lorelei giggled and quickly got out of bed, rushing to the door to meet Marc and Beau. "I'm up! I'm up!" she replied, her voice bubbling with anticipation. As she opened the door, Marc and Beau stood there, their eyes shining with the same eagerness.
"Good morning, you two!" Lorelei greeted them, her voice brimming with enthusiasm. "I can't believe today is finally here. The sailing trip is going to be amazing!"
Marc nodded, his voice filled with excitement. "Absolutely! We're going to have the best time exploring the open waters and enjoying the freedom of the sea," he said, his tone filled with adventure.
Beau chimed in, her voice eager and playful. "And who knows, maybe we can even sail all the way to Prince Eric's kingdom. It's not too far, right?" she suggested, her eyes gleaming with a mischievous glint.
Lorelei's eyes widened with excitement at the idea of visiting Prince Eric's kingdom. The thought of discovering new lands and meeting new people filled her with a sense of wonder. "That sounds incredible! I would love to see Prince Eric's kingdom," she exclaimed, her voice filled with curiosity.
However, before the plan could be fully set in motion, Queen Sapphire's voice echoed through the hall. "Lorelei, my dear, don't forget that we are going to the animal shelter this afternoon to adopt your new dog," she reminded her gently, her words laced with a sense of responsibility.
Lorelei's excitement faltered for a moment as she recalled the promise she had made to Queen Sapphire. Adopting a dog had been a dream of hers, and she couldn't pass up the opportunity to find her loyal furry companion. She sighed, realizing that she wouldn't be able to join Marc and Beau on the trip to Prince Eric's kingdom.
"Right, the dog adoption," Lorelei said, her voice tinged with a hint of disappointment. "I completely forgot. It's important, though. I can't wait to meet my new four-legged friend," she added, her voice filled with determination.
Marc and Beau exchanged a knowing glance, understanding Lorelei's predicament. Marc placed a comforting hand on Lorelei's shoulder. "Don't worry, Lorelei. There will be plenty of other adventures and opportunities for us to explore together," he assured her, his voice filled with reassurance.
Beau nodded in agreement, a playful smile gracing her lips. "And who knows, maybe our detour to the animal shelter will lead to a whole new adventure of its own," she suggested, her voice brimming with optimism.
Lorelei's disappointment faded, replaced by a renewed sense of excitement. She realized that every journey, whether on land or at sea, held its own magic and surprises. With her friends by her side and a new furry companion awaiting her, she knew that the day would be filled with joy and unforgettable moments.
"You should get a Golden Labrador!" Beau suggests, Lorelei looks to her before she smiles a bit. "I think an Australian Shepherd would be good for you." Marc then suggests before Queen Sapphire adds. "Now, Now. We'll let Lorelei decide when we get there."
'UNDER THE SEA POV'
“Glacliean is getting ready for his coronation day, And everyone else is busy so we can go explore!” Vivia explains to Mortimer, Having her hands behind her head as she swam backwards.
Mortimer, the wise seahorse advisor, swam alongside Vivia, his eyes twinkling with anticipation. "Ah, the joy of exploration! It's always exhilarating to venture into the unknown," he remarked, his voice filled with wisdom.
As Vivia and Mortimer continued their conversation, their voices echoed through the halls, reaching the ears of those around them. Unbeknownst to Vivia, their words caught the attention of a mysterious figure lurking in the shadows.
As Vivia and Mortimer continued their animated conversation, their voices reverberated through the halls of the underwater kingdom. They swam further away from the palace, following their sense of adventure, completely oblivious to the lurking presence of Seraphina, who watched them intently from the shadows.
Meanwhile, Vivia's eyes sparkled with anticipation as they ventured deeper into the underwater realm. The vibrant colors of coral reefs and schools of fish captivated their attention, adding to their excitement. Suddenly, a melodious sound filled the water, drawing them closer.
Curiosity propelled Vivia forward as they followed the enchanting music. The melody led them to a magical scene—a gathering of fish and sea creatures, each with their unique instruments. It was an underwater orchestra, playing a symphony of the sea.
Vivia's eyes widened in awe as they took in the sight before them. The orchestra consisted of a group of vibrant tropical fish, each playing their instruments with finesse. A regal trumpet fish led the ensemble, while a lively octopus tapped its tentacles against drums. A chorus of angelic voices emanated from a choir of angel fish, filling the water with a harmonious melody.
Mortimer hovered beside Vivia, his expression reflecting their astonishment. "Oh, Vivia, look at this magnificent orchestra! It's as if the entire ocean is alive with music," he whispered, his voice filled with wonder.
Unable to contain their excitement, Vivia swam closer to the orchestra, mesmerized by the symphony of underwater sounds. They danced gracefully through the water, their tail swishing in time with the enchanting melodies. The fish and sea creatures, caught up in the joy of the music, swam around Vivia, creating a magical atmosphere.
As Vivia immersed themselves in the symphony, Seraphina watched from afar, her eyes glinting with sinister intent. The wicked sorceress reveled in the innocence and wonder of Vivia, knowing that their naivety would play right into her hands.
Vivia, oblivious to the presence of Seraphina, continued to revel in the magical experience. The music swelled, carrying them away on a tide of pure bliss. In that moment, they felt a deep connection to the underwater world, a bond forged through music and shared wonder.
'UP ON THE SURFACE POV'
Lorelei, Beau, Marc and their mothers advisor, Katherine were walking together, The salty sea air wafting into their noses, The wind nearly blew Lorelei's sunhat off as she pressed her hand not her head, holding the hat down. “Tread lightly, We can't afford any accidents.” Katherine's haughty tone in her voice warned.
Katherine was walking besides Beau as they walked. “What kind of dog are you interested in getting Lorelei?” Beau asks, Glancing at her younger sister. “I don't know but I do want a dog that can swim.” Lorelei responded, smiling a bit. “Well lots of dogs can swim with the right training.” Katherine added on.
Katherine chimed in, her tone reminiscent of the amazing Mary Poppins. "Ah, the joys of swimming dogs. Many breeds have a natural affinity for water, Lorelei. With the right training, you can transform any pup into a graceful swimmer," she said, her voice carrying a hint of enchantment.
As they arrived at the animal shelter, Lorelei's eyes widened with anticipation. The bustling atmosphere filled their senses, the joyful cacophony of barks and meows enveloping them. Lorelei couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement and affection for each and every furry creature in need of a loving home.
Lorelei walked among the kennels, their heart opening to the dogs, their playful nature and soulful eyes tugging at their heartstrings. As they played with one dog, another caught their attention. A golden Labrador bound towards them, a twinkle of mischief in their eyes.
Lorelei couldn't resist the dog's contagious energy, and they found themselves laughing and playing along. The Labrador's playful antics and water-loving spirit resonated deeply with Lorelei.
"I choose you," Lorelei said, their voice filled with certainty, as they reached out to stroke the Labrador's soft fur. The dog wagged its tail furiously, as if understanding the unspoken connection forming between them.
Beau and Marc watched with joyous smiles, their hearts warmed by the bond blossoming between Lorelei and their new furry companion. "What a perfect match," Beau whispered, their voice filled with delight.
Katherine approached them, her presence both comforting and magical. "Congratulations, Lorelei. Ollie is a splendid choice for our family," she said, her voice infused with warmth.
With Ollie by their side, Lorelei felt a profound sense of happiness and completeness. Together, they would explore the wonders of the world, both on land and in the water. Lorelei looked into Ollie's expressive eyes and knew that they had found a loyal and loving friend.
As the group walked back along the beach, Lorelei then asked, “Should I bring Ollie along with us?” She asks the others, Mainly Katherine and Marc. “Sure, We'll have extra hands on deck to watch over him.” Marc answers, Walking besides Lorelei. “The tides are much more calm, so it'll be safe to take him.” Katherine added.

The room erupted once more, this time in thunderous applause and cheers. Glacliean's acceptance speech resonated with the merfolk, filling their hearts with hope and confidence.
Just as Glacliean turned to swim off and find a moment of solitude to reflect on the weight of his new role, Queen Nautrius stepped forward, her voice commanding attention. "Wait a moment, Glacliean," she called out, her tone laced with a hint of mystery.
Glacliean paused, turning to face his mother with a questioning gaze. Before he could utter a word, Queen Nautrius continued, her voice filled with warmth and adoration, "There is another individual in our midst who deserves recognition on this momentous day."
Gasps of surprise rippled through the crowd as Queen Nautrius motioned for Vivia to step forward. Vivia's eyes widened with astonishment and confusion, but with the guidance of Mortimer, they swam towards the stage, their heart pounding in their chest.
Queen Nautrius removed the Lumina Pendant from her own neck, its gentle glow illuminating the room. With a gentle smile, she extended it towards Vivia, their eyes locked in a profound connection.

'IN THE DARK ABYSS POV'
Deep in the dark abyss, Seraphina seethed with anger and frustration. Her eyes glowed with an intense, eerie light as she watched the coronation unfold. The sight of Vivia receiving the Lumina Pendant, a symbol of power and wisdom, filled her with an overwhelming rage.
"How dare they!" Seraphina hissed through clenched teeth, her voice dripping with malice. "That Lumina Pendant rightfully belongs to me, the true ruler of the underwater realm. It is not for some insignificant child to possess."
The wicked sorceress clenched her fists, her fury fueling her dark magic. She had spent years plotting and scheming, her ultimate goal being to claim the Lumina Pendant for herself. But Queen Nautrius had foiled her plans, giving it to Vivia instead.
As the celebration continued, Seraphina's mind raced, devising new strategies to seize the pendant and unleash her dark powers upon the kingdom. The Lumina Pendant was a source of immense energy, capable of amplifying her own magic and granting her dominion over the underwater realm.
She would not rest until she had the pendant in her possession. With a sly smirk, Seraphina vanished into the shadows, her sinister presence lurking beneath the joyous facade of the coronation.
Little did the unsuspecting merfolk know that their celebration would soon be marred by Seraphina's wrath. Her thirst for power and vengeance threatened to cast a shadow over their underwater paradise, and she would stop at nothing to achieve her sinister goals.
Unbeknownst to Vivia and the rest of the kingdom, a dangerous battle loomed on the horizon, where the forces of light and darkness would clash in a struggle for the fate of the underwater realm.
'UP ON THE SURFACE POV'
As the day progressed, Lorelei found herself joyfully playing with Ollie on the sandy shores of the beach. They chased each other, their laughter echoing through the air, while the waves gently rolled in the distance.
Lorelei's heart swelled with love and happiness as she watched Ollie bound after a seashell, his tail wagging with sheer delight. She couldn't have asked for a better companion for her adventures, and their bond was growing stronger with every passing moment.
Meanwhile, Marc and his crew were busy preparing for the voyage to Prince Eric's kingdom. The sails were being inspected and repaired, ensuring they were in perfect condition for their journey. Supplies were meticulously organized, and the crew members double-checked their equipment, leaving no room for error.
Marc approached Lorelei, a map in hand, a determined expression on his face. "Lorelei, we're almost ready to set sail," he said, his voice tinged with excitement. "The sun will start to set soon, and we'll embark on our voyage to Prince Eric's kingdom."
Lorelei's eyes lit up with anticipation as she stood up, brushing the sand off her dress. She gently patted Ollie on the head, promising him they would continue their adventures when she returned. Ollie wagged his tail, understanding in his eyes.
"I can't wait to explore Prince Eric's kingdom with you, Marc," Lorelei exclaimed, her voice filled with enthusiasm. "But first, let's walk back to the palace together. I want to show Ollie his new home and introduce him to everyone."
Marc nodded, his gaze filled with fondness. "That sounds like a wonderful idea, Lorelei. Let's make our way back, and then the real adventure will begin," he replied, his voice laced with anticipation.
With Ollie bounding happily by their side, Lorelei and Marc walked back along the sandy shore towards the palace. The sun began its descent, casting a warm golden glow over the water. The sea breeze gently tousled their hair, carrying with it a sense of excitement and possibility.
As they approached the palace, Lorelei's heart swelled with gratitude and anticipation. She couldn't have asked for better friends and a more loyal companion in Ollie. The adventures that awaited them were just the beginning of a lifetime of discovery and cherished memories.
Hand in hand with Marc and with Ollie happily trotting beside them, Lorelei walked towards the palace, their footsteps filled with a sense of purpose and anticipation. The sun began to dip below the horizon, casting a breathtaking array of colors across the sky.
As they entered the palace, Lorelei couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement for the journey ahead. The tales and legends of Prince Eric's kingdom swirled in her imagination, filling her with a sense of wonder and curiosity. She was ready to set sail, to explore new lands, and to create her own story.
"Her voice, like a siren's song, awakened her heart to a love she never knew existed."

hello :)) okay so ariel x fem!reader when she first arrives at the castle and the reader helps her get dressed she notices how she looks when she looks at the prince and asks her if she likes the prince when Ariel nods the reader tells her she'll help her because she's friends with eric. The reader goes along helping trying to push ariel and eric together but while spending time with Ariel the reader slowly starts seeing her in a new light noticing all the pretty small details she looked over before just then the reader realized she was in love with Ariel.
I'm going to leave the ending up to you :))
Choose Me: Ariel
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were currently helping the new girl who had washed up on shore a few hours ago, getting dressed so she would love presentable when she meets the prince in just a few minutes. You stood off to the side noticing the love-sick emotion in her eyes as she tried to talk to the prince without being able to talk, and how disappointed she looked when he left.
"You like him don't you?" You asked her after he left and she nodded her at your words.
"I can help you with that if you would like. Me and the prince are best friends so I know him better than anyone else." You said as she smiled at you.
"Alright I have to get back to work but I'll be back later to help you out with him." You said squeezing her hand before leaving.
When you returned that evening, you saw that she had the mermaid figure from Eric's room which made you smile a bit and wonder if they interacted with one another while you were at work.
"Did you and him talk while I was at work?" You asked her as she nodded her head.
You two sat on her bed talking well mainly with you telling her about Eric and everything there was needed to know about him while giving her some pointers on how to dress and act while with him.
Over the next few days as you pushed her together with Eric, you also got to really know her and found yourself for her. I mean how could you not she was so beautiful, and seemed so smart and interesting even with talking. You often wondered if Eric knew her the way that you did, or if he was just in love with the idea of her being his mystery woman.
"Alright, what's going on with you?" Eric asked as you walked down the shore.
"Nothing just a lot on my mind." You said to him.
"Nothing not even our newest friend in the castle?" He asked as you looked at him.
"Yeah I know y/n, I see the way you look at her and hear how you talk about her." He said looking at him shock.
"I know Eric....I don't want to interfere with your love life especially when I have no idea if she even likes me back." You said.
"First off you aren't interfering, I see the way you two look at each other and that would be extremely selfish of me to stand in the way of that, and second of all, she looks at you the same way you do towards her. Take a chance y/n." He said smiling at you.
"Thank you so much, Eric." You said with a smile.
That night you were walking along the beach thinking about what Eric said earlier when you saw Ariel approaching you which made you smile. She reached for your hands as she stood in front of you before softly pressing a kiss to your lips.
"I like you a lot y/n." She said making you smile.
"I like you a lot as well Ariel." You said smiling at her.

i got you babe - j.h.k
Tumblr media
summary: y/n worked the hardest she ever has on this new project, and she thinks jonah can’t make it to her premiere.
jonah hauer king x reader
a/n: I DID IT GUYS TAKE IT AND GO.
this movie had been the best, and also the most exhausting film y/n has ever acted in. she was working with one of the most important directors in a thriller movie. she knew the filming would take a toll, it required her to almost turn into her character, also carrying disturbing plot moments. she also knew this movie was the movie for her. the promotion was booming across the countries for her and it would likely be nominated for several awards due to the script and production.
she had invited everyone to the premiere. her best friends, her family, her boyfriends family, even her boyfriends cast mates. jonah was the most important person in her life. his career was finally starting to skyrocket. he filmed the little mermaid while y/n was also filming, and both of them were at a complete peak in their career. jonah had held her hand at every red carpet, and she held jonah’s on his. everything the other one did was only brought up with praise from the other.
the couple was laying in their bed on their sides, their legs tangled together as they admired the others features. y/n ran her hand through jonah’s soft hair, and his finger was gliding across her cheekbones. “you feeling ok about the premiere tomorrow?”
“i’m just gonna get it over with. i really wish you could be there,” y/n speaks softly in response.
“i know, darling,” he replies, sadly. “i would give anything to be there with you. you put blood, sweat, and tears into this movie and i so badly want to be there holding your hand. i’m so, so sorry love.”
“it’s alright, jonah,” y/n smiles to hopefully release some of his pity. “when it’s over, i’m coming right back home to you.”
she leaves a quick kiss on his lips, and jonah is unsatisfied. so, he leans in, deepening the kiss and rolling her on top of him. “i like the sound of that,” he says, his sweet accent swimming through his words.
y/n stepped onto the red carpet and was confronted with camera flashes and yells for her name. she could barely see a foot in front of her, immediately getting overwhelmed by the bright white lights poisoning her eyes. the release of the movie had already been stressful enough, she didn’t need more people screaming to get her attention.
the only person she wanted was jonah. he knew every single way to calm her down and whatever she needed to feel better. she knew the same for him, and she just wished he was here to help her. she just wants to feel his presence, his touch. however, jonah wasn’t there this time, and she had to help herself. so, she forced herself through to the end of the carpet, showing off her dress and putting on a fake beam for the photos that she’d probably see on twitter later.
she hid behind the large wall that concealed her from the photographers. she ran her hand over her hair, trying not to mess it up but desperately needing some pressure off of her. she figured she could have at least a minute alone with her thoughts, but her assistant had walked over to her again. “y/n! there’s someone here to see you, they’re being sent in now. they’ve requested for you.”
y/n sighs. it’s just more press or another interviewer to ask the same questions. she doesn’t want to sound ungrateful. the life she’s been given is beyond fulfilling, and she would never want to take it for granted. but right now, she just wants the arms of her boyfriend to hold her.
she walks around the carpet with blurry vision, trying to contain her tears to maintain her perfect makeup. she fans her eyes, dropping the fake smile and following her assistant to the person who suggested a meeting with her. the second she sees the tall man in front of her, she just wants to fly into his arms. so, she walks over to jonah faster and he starts walking too. he meets her halfway, letting her lean into him and allowing him to take some of the pressure.
“it’s ok, you’re alright,” he reassures, placing his hand on the back of her head as her face is buried into his chest. “i’m here, love.”
“how did you get here?” y/n asks, confused but relieved.
“i managed to move some things around. the producer told me you weren’t yourself, so i knew i had to be here. you’re forever my priority, y/n.”
“i love you so much,” she speaks, pulling away from him and kissing his cheek. “thank you, truly.”
“i wouldn’t chose to be anywhere but with you.”
“y/n!” the voice of her manager rolled in. “let’s start getting back out there.”
“can you come with me?” y/n asks, hoping jonah can hold her hand on the carpet.
“of course, darling,” he says, and they walk out together as y/n’s worries start to disintegrate with his touch.

Everyone watched as Ariel regained her voice once again, and then the sun started to set and Vanessa started laughing maniacally. As Ariel’s legs became a mermaid tail, and she crumpled to the floor. Everyone was staring at her in shock, “You’re too late! You’re too late!” She shouted, as black smoke surrounded her and she became the sea witch with tentacles. [Y/n] ran in front of Ariel.
“Stay back!” She shouted, and was knocked away by one of the tentacles onto her back. Ursula crawled towards Ariel, picking her up and lifting her over the edge, and plunging into the water below.
[Y/n] rushed to her feet and ran towards the railing looking down, and seeing where the splashed into the water. Gripping the railing, she ran towards the stairs that lead down the beach, “Y/n!” Eric called out, and she ignored him, continuing to make her way down the stairs towards the beach, and hopping into one of the rowboats not before grabbing some harpoons. Pushing the boat out into the water and hoping in, still ignoring Eric’s calls for her, as she rowed towards where Ariel was.
‘I’m doing this for you Eric.’
She thought to herself, knowing that Eric didn’t feel the same way about her and only wanted to be with Ariel. Who was actually the person he’d been searching for the entire time. She wanted him to be happy even if it meant she wouldn’t in return. [Y/n] rowed towards the glow in the water, and gripped the harpoon in her hand. Taking in a deep breath she jumped into the water, and saw Ursula pointing a trident at Ariel. Raising the harpoon in her hand seeing Ursula get closer to Ariel, she threw it and it scraped against Ursula’s shoulder.
Causing both her and Ariel to look up towards [Y/n], “You will pay for that.” Ursula said, looking at her angrily. [Y/n] glared at her and turned around swimming back up to the surface, both needing air and to get another harpoon. When she  turned her back, Ursula pointed the trident at her, “Get her!” She shouted.
Two eels named Flotsam and Jetsam, started swimming towards her as she swam up towards the surface towards the rowboat. As she surfaced, she gasped for air and gripped onto the side of the rail boat trying to reach for a harpoon, and was suddenly pulled underwater by the two electric eels by her ankles. Pulling her further down into the water, Ursula then pointed to the trident, “Say goodbye to your friend!” She shouted, and Ariel lunged towards her, pushing her side.
Causing her to end up hitting her eels instead and they disintegrated. Ursula cried out in shock and sadness, “Ah, my babies!” She cried, as the human and the mermaid started swimming up towards the surface. She looked up at them angrily, and started breathing heavily fuming as black ink surrounded her.
[Y/n] broke the surface gasping for air, “Y/n!” Ariel called out, swimming towards her. “It’s a storm she’ll kill you.” Ariel said, and [Y/n] looked towards her and shook her head, “I’m not leaving you. I want Eric to be happy even if it means I won't.” She said, and Ariel looked at her sadly. “Y/n..” She said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Suddenly, the water started to shake violently and something started to emerge in between the two. Slowly emerging from the water, Ursula, now the size of a titan, roared as she used the trident to cause a storm. “Give me your hand!” Ariel shouted, looking over at [Y/n] who stretched her arm struggling to grab onto Ariel and then the two jumped into the raging water below. The force caused [Y/n] to let go, and immediately Ariel swam towards her and helped her up towards the surface.
“Look out!” Ariel screamed, as Ursula was about to try and crush them with her giant tentacle. The splash sent both girls in opposite directions, “Now,I rule the seas and all the ocean. Under my power!” Ursula shouted, as she raised the trident into the air.
[Y/n]’s eyes widened seeing the huge wave in front of her and it crashed down on her, sucking her into the water. Ursula then looked towards Ariel and smiled, the latter then held the trident pointing it into the water and moved it in a stirring motion. Creating a whirlpool, and underneath a pile of shipwrecked ships. Ariel dove into the water avoiding the whirlpool. One ship raised to the surface, and was now trapped in the whirlpool.Ariel swam swiftly through the water dodging debris from the shipwreck, and swiftly moved out of the way of one coming towards her, she stared at it for a moment and came up with an idea.
[Y/n] struggled, as she was trapped in the massive whirlpool Ursula had created. Seeing a ship sticking out of the water, she grabbed onto the rope pulling herself out of the water and held onto the rope for dear life. She pulled herself up, and slumped over the rocks. When Ursula, peered her head over and pointed the trident at her, “So long!” She said, sending a beam of electricity knocking her off and her leg to get caught on the rope causing her to hang upside down.
As she tried to pull herself up, a ship emerged in the distance which Ariel was on. Staring at the ship's wheel, she started pulling herself towards the wheel. It was a struggle but once she was there, she had a clear view on Ursula. Who was about to aim the trident at [Y/n] once again, that would surely kill her. [Y/n] had finally got herself back up and gripping the rock and she glanced over at Ursula, who aimed the trident at her intent to kill. She stared at her, as the sea witch charged up the trident. Just as she was about to send the killing blow.
Ariel turned the ship's wheel so it would move towards Ursula. As the ship floated towards the sea witch, it caused her to glance over towards the incoming ship which impaled her, killing her instantly. Her giant hands gripped onto the ship, and Ariel leaped from the ship to avoid being pulled into the water. Slowly the sea witch sank to the water below..
Finally, the seas were calm and the sky above was clear. Ariel surfaced and started looking around for [Y/n] who surfaced not so later, and swam towards a wood pallet and held onto it. Breathing heavily, exhausted from the fight.

Eric sat there on the balcony playing fetch with Max, and after he would throw the stick for his dog to retrieve and bring back. He would look down at the item he gave [Y/n] years ago, that had washed up on shore. His heart ached for the girl he wanted he knew truly thought is gone, and will never see again.
Max ran back the stick in his mouth and Eric turned towards the dog, “Again?” He asked, looking at the dog smiling softly, before taking the stick and throwing it. Max ran off to fetch it, and Eric continued to stare at the item in his hand. After a bit Max hadn’t returned with the stick, “Max?” He called out, wondering where the dog could’ve gone off too. As he
Eric turned around to look for his dog, and saw Ariel and [Y/n] both scratching Max behind the ear. Eric’s gaze fell on [Y/n], they stared at each other for a moment, and before she could even speak. Eric got up and rushed toward her wrapping her arms around her his hand on the back of her head holding her close. Tears welled up in her eyes as she wrapped her arms around him, as she let the tears fall from her eyes.
After breaking the embrace, [Y/n] had tears streaming down her face. Eric wiped them away gently with his thumb, and then surprised her with a kiss on the lips. Her heart swelled, feeling his lips on hers, and taken aback for a mere second to only return the kiss.
Ariel smiled, as she watched them share a tender moment. She smiled happily, as she looked at Eric after breaking the kiss they looked into each other’s eyes for a moment not saying a word. Before, wrapping their arms around each other once again for another embrace.
In the cheering crowd, flower petals were tossed into the air as Eric and [Y/n] walked hand in hand down the stairs. A smile on both their faces having just gotten married. The newlyweds couldn’t help laughing excitedly, at their new life just about to begin.
As [Y/n] walked down the stairs she glanced over and saw Gabriella who was crying overdramatically having just witnessed her little sister get married. [Y/n] sent her a smile, causing her sister to smile back tears in her eyes as she clapped.
Once down the stairs Eric looked over at Grimsby, “Oh, what’s this Grims?” Eric asked, wondering why basically everyone from the village was here, “The queen wanted the two of you to have the proper send off.” Grimsby said, looking at the two.
[Y/n] smiled seeing the queen and walked towards her, “Thank you, your majesty.” She said, smiling looking at her as she took her hand. “No, thank you.” Queen Selina said, as she looked at her, “I knew there was something special about you,” She said, causing [Y/n] to smile as she looked at the queen.
She then looked over towards Ariel and gestured for her to come over, “As much as I hate farewells we still have cause to celebrate,” She said, looking at her and then turned towards Ariel. “Our worlds have misunderstood one another for far too long.” She says, and smiles looking at the three, “Your friendship is a new beginning for us.” She said, causing the three to smile at each other.
Ariel smiled as she looked at the queen, “Yes a beginning.” Ariel said, smiling looking at her two friends. Queen Selina, then placed her hands on Eric’s cheek and looked him in the eyes, “Now, get out there and change the world.” Queen Selina said, then placing her hands at her side.
“Or whatever it is you have to do so we don’t get left behind.” She said, and Eric looked at her confused, “T-That doesn’t sound like my mother.” He said, looking at her, “What have you done with her!” He said, causing the queen to roll her eyes and smile, Ariel and [Y/n] to laugh.
Eric then turned towards his wife, “You ready?” He asked, and she looked up at him and then back towards her sister, “Not yet, I need to say goodbye to someone first.” She said, and he nodded planting a kiss on the side of her head causing [Y/n] to smile as she looked up at him.
[Y/n] walked towards Gabriella, who immediately started running towards her with tears in her eyes. “Oh, if only mother and father were alive to see this day.” Gabriella cried, wrapping her arms around her little sister. “I’m sure that they’re smiling wherever they are right now.” [Y/n] said, returning the hug.
Pulling back Gabriella placed her hands on her sisters shoulder and smiled, taking in how beautiful she looked in her wedding dress. “Look at you, you’ve grown up so fast.” Gabriella cried, choking back a sob. [Y/n] wiped away her sister’s tears with her thumb, “I have to thank  you, I don’t think if it weren’t for you I wouldn’t be experiencing this right now.” [Y/n] said, looking at her big sister.
“You gave me the courage to express my feelings, you tried to comfort me in the moments I felt down.” She said, looking at her sister, tears brimming her eyes. “And, I can’t thank you enough Gabi.” She said, and Gabriella started crying even more.
“Oh, goodness there's no need to thank me. I was just being the big sister.” She said, and [Y/n] smiled as she pulled her sister into another hug. “But, what will suffice as a thank you is the two of you giving me a niece or nephew.” Gabriella said, causing [Y/n] to hit her on the shoulder gently.
“Gabi?!”
“What?! I’m only joking.” Gabriella exclaimed, and then winked at [Y/n] causing her to roll her eyes, she looked back towards Eric. “Bye,” [Y/n] said, looking at her big sister, “Bye.” Gabriella said, watching as her little sister turned towards the man she loved taking his hand and running towards the row boat.
“Have you decided where you're heading first?!” Gabriella shouted, and [Y/n] turned towards her and smiled, “Uncharted waters.” [Y/n] said, smiling as Eric and her ran towards the rowboats.
Ariel and [Y/n] entered the lifeboat, and Eric started rowing out towards the ship.[Y/n] smiled, as she looked at Eric and he smiled back at her, as he continued rowing. He stopped for a moment, as if something were behind them causing both Ariel and [Y/n] to turn around and see King Triton.
King Triton swam over and stared at his daughter, “My child.” He said, looking up at her, he then looked over, “Eric.” He said, and in response he bowed his head. “Y/n.” He said, and she bowed her head in response. “I think these belong to you,” He said, raising his hand revealing the seashell shaped necklace she lost during the wreck, as well the necklace she planned on giving to Eric.
Tears brimmed her eyes seeing the necklaces again, “Thank you,” She said, smiling as she took them from his hand, and stared at them before smiling as she looked up at Eric. Ariel turned to look back at her father, “Thank you for hearing me.” She said with tears welling up in her eyes, “You shouldn’t have had to give up your voice.” He said, looking at his daughter.
“But now I am listening.” He said, looking at his daughter, “And I will always be here for you” He paused for a moment, “We all will” Just as he said then. Mermaid’s surfaced and looked towards the rowboat Ariel was in, and [Y/n]’s eyes widened in awe seeing all the mermaids. Tears brimmed Ariel’s eyes seeing her sisters watching to see her off.
Ariel leaned down and wrapped her arms around her father, “I love you father,” She said, and he hugged her back despite him not wanting to let her go, he had too. She’d grown up so much and she wanted to see the world with her friends, after a few moments.
She pulled back from the hug, and gave her father a smile. Placing his hands on the rowboat, he pushed it forwards a small wave carrying the rowboat towards the ship. King Triton watched as his daughter went to start her new life with the friends she made. [Y/n] and Eric, starting their new lives together as husband and wife exploring the wild uncharted waters together.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·..·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
         Two Years Later
Gabriella shot up from bed letting out a yawn as she stretched out her arms. Scratching the back of her head as she got out of bed. She looked over towards the empty bed on the opposite side of the room. She really missed her little sister yet knew that wherever she is that she’s having the best time of her life with Eric. Exploring uncharted waters.
She remembered hearing about their return voyage a few days ago, and estimated they’d return in a couple of days. Which was a couple of days ago. The realization hit her like a wave and she rushed towards her wardrobe, and threw off her nightgown and quickly put on her clothes.
“Y/n!” Gabriella exclaimed, wrapping her arms around her little sister who’s hair had gotten a lot longer due to being gone for two years. “I’ve missed you so much!” She exclaimed, and [Y/n] chuckled, “I’ve missed you too.” [Y/n] said, returning the hug. Pulling back, her sister examined her wondering what Eric and her had gotten up to in the past two years.
“Oh, wait there's someone I want you to meet.” She said, and as if on cue Eric revealed himself holding something or someone in his arms. Gabriella looked between the two as if this were a dream, this couldn’t be happening..
“Gabriella, meet your niece, Maurea.” She said, and tears streamed down Gabriella’s cheeks as she saw her niece for the first time. She was so small and tiny, and looked just like both their parents combined. Maurea had her father’s hair and her mother’s eyes, she also had her father’s smile, and her mother’s nose. And was absolutely adorable, in the pink baby dress she was in, “May I hold her?” Gabriella asked, looking at Eric.
“Of course,” He said, gently handing the baby over to her and immediately, Gabriella broke down in tears once again. “She’s so beautiful.” She cooed over the infant and made baby faces causing the infant to look at her and coo. “Hi, Maurea, I'm your auntie.” She said, with a calming voice looking down at the infant. She then noticed a necklace around her neck that resembled the one [Y/n] once wore.
Maurea cooed, and grabbed the seashell part of the necklace and put it in her mouth. But of course it was too big and barely fit, causing Gabriella to giggle. “You are definitely your mother’s child.” She said, remembering when her little sister would always shove seashells into her mouth when she was a toddler. She started babbling as she started playing with the necklace chain. Her tiny hands pulled on it.
“Oh, she wants to hear the lullaby.” [Y/n] said, walking towards her sister and smiled, as she looked down at Maurea. Planting a kiss on her forehead, before opening the locket and it started playing a melody. Maurea giggled, hearing the melody and cooed seeing the mermaids swim around Atlantica.
“Ariel, gifted this to her when she was born.” Eric said, looking at his daughter in awe as she babbled, her eyes fixated on the image before her eyes. “She can’t sleep without it.” [Y/n] said, as she leaned her head against Eric’s arm. “She’s so precious.” Gabriella said, still cooing over her niece. “Thank you,” She said, turning to look at her little sister who shook her head and smiled. Just then everyone came down to the beach, wanting to gaze upon the baby.

“Please make your decision quickly. I think the fuckin’ cops are looking for me.” He says. His voice sounds deeper than you remembered. You thought you had imagined it in the diner, or that his change in tone was a consequence of his anger toward his brother, but there was no denying it here. You glaze over that comment about law enforcement apparently searching for him.
He was leaning slightly out the window of his truck, etching toward you so that you could hear him over the sound of the surrounding traffic. You feel Megumi tug on your jacket, so you look down at where he’s tucked in.
You always knew he looked just like his father, your mind tormented you with that fact every waking moment, but it was hitting you now. Here you had the framework to sit and compare their faces from more than memory alone.
Needless to say, all of the pictures you had of Toji had been destroyed after you found out he left town. All of the clothes he had given you or left in your room had been donated when you moved out of your mother’s house. You had no physical reminders of his existence aside from the child the two of you shared and the golden angel necklace that sat tucked away at the back of your dresser. It was sitting against the back of the drawer, tucked away in a pair of polka dot socks that you never wore. You couldn’t bring yourself to let go of that one.
“Momma, that man is swearing.” Megumi says in his sweet voice. You grimace. Is this how you wanted your son to meet his father? In response, you rub his back and try to muster a smile. “I know, baby.” You whisper to him. “We can talk about swearing later.” Megumi had taken “Don’t say ‘fuck’, you’re only four” to mean, “anyone that swears, including adults, should be chastised.” You would have to redo that lecture.
You really, really shouldn’t get in the truck. You should carry on with your life and pretend that all of this never happened. That Toji isn’t in the flesh in front of you, looking more handsome than you had ever remembered. Looking just like his fucking son. So much like his son that it felt like you were being taunted. He could never deny Megumi again once he saw his face. Even people who weren’t close to you could see the resemblance.
It’s cold, you justify to yourself as you adjust Megumi in your arms and stand up from the bench. We’ll get home quicker, you think as you round the front of his truck towards the passenger side. You’ve run out of excuses by the time you’re opening the door and sliding in his truck.
There are countless reasons why you shouldn’t have even looked up while you heard him call you. For starters, the fact that he just said law enforcement is allegedly in pursuit. He’s been back in your life for less than an hour and you’re already doing stupid shit.
What the fuck. You keep Megumi tucked into your chest tight as you sit down in the truck. Megumi is facing his father, trying to get a read on the man his mother had broken the rules for.
“Okay baby,” You had said to Megumi merely weeks prior, “If a stranger asks you to get in the car with them, what do we say?” You ask him, holding his little hand in yours.
“My momma said no!” He says. The two of you were sitting on your living room floor, with a blanket under you and watching The Little Mermaid on DVD. You had to save costs wherever you could, and those costs did not include cable. After watching Ariel go into Prince Eric’s palace-house within the first couple of hours being a human, you felt it appropriate to give Megumi the kidnapping talk. He takes a bite of the apple you had cut for him earlier.
“And what if the stranger said, ‘I’ll give you Pokemon cards if you get in the car’?” You ask him. “I don’t even like Pokemon anymore!” He says proudly, in response to the hypothetical stranger. “What? Since when?” You asked, slightly horrified that you weren’t as attuned to your 4-year old’s interests as you thought. “Since the stranger asked me, momma.” He replied simply.
This exchange must be very odd for Megumi. You had done your best to raise him right. The best that you could with the resources you had. You tried to teach him hard rules. Don’t talk to strangers, wash your hands before you eat, for the love of god please do not stick forks in the outlets. Now the ‘no strangers’ one was out of the window. It would be tough to explain this. Another lecture to redo.
Toji’s got his eyes on the rearview mirror, looking back at the diner. “Jinichi called the cops on me, the fucking asshole,” He mummers that last part to himself. “So where am I taking you?” Blunt and to the point like always. You give him your address before you could even think about it. Megumi’s tugging on you again to indicate he heard that comment, but you’re slightly out of it.
There’s a big tear that exposes the cushion of the seat you’re on. You had left that there a lifetime ago when you drunkenly stole Toji’s knife and acted out a confrontation between you and a random girl that was hitting on him. That was one of the many nights that ended in laughter instead of tears.
It smells exactly the same, he still uses the black ice scent for the little tree hanging from his rearview mirror. He’s still got his CD collection strapped to the sun visor on the driver’s side of the truck. It’s grown since the last time you saw it, expanding to the passenger side sun visor as well. There’s still a mysterious dark stain that you don’t feel comfortable speculating on the nature of in the floorboard. Evidently, he never managed to get it out.
It’s too much. You have to fight to hold back tears. You had told yourself to never give an ounce to this man again. No tears, no anger, nothing. You had broken that in the diner earlier. It would not happen again.
You should have told him to take you to your mom’s house, so he wouldn’t have any kind of access to you or Megumi. Why would you give him your own address? How fucking stupid.
It’s silent in the truck. You weren’t going to say anything, you might burst into tears if you opened your mouth. You had sat Megumi on your right side, away from Toji. He was pressed in between you in the door so that you wouldn’t have to be any closer to the man than necessary.
You still don’t know if Toji had gotten a look at him yet. You take a moment to study the man. He’s got both hands on the steering wheel, sitting pin-straight in his seat. His eyes are very pointedly on the road, as if he’s trying not to look over. If the whites on his knuckles were indicative, and after spending years with him, you knew they were, Toji had already figured it out.
After that call four years ago, you had a lot of time to ponder Toji’s reaction to you telling him about Megumi. Logically, you knew he was doing what he always did. Avoiding it because he didn’t wanna deal with the prospect of it. The same way he cheated on you to try and get you to run like you should have. The same way he used to pick a fight just to see if that would be your final straw. He denied Megumi because he had some weird psychological avoidance issue.
Emotionally, you couldn’t see it as anything other than him being selfish while you gave your life to your child. Literally, that’s what it was.
You were too busy looking at him to notice you had pulled into your apartment complex.
“Um..” He clears his throat. “Which building do I drop you off at?” Drop you off. You scoff out loud. Of course. He finds out the kid really is his, and he’s avoiding us again.
“The second one.” You say. You don’t know what you expected. For him to immediately pull Gumi into a hug and move in with you within the hour? Yeah fucking right.
“Mama, can I play with the Christmas tree when we get home?” Megumi had asked you as your apartment came into view. ‘Christmas tree’ was one of his favorite games to play, where he got all the pots and pans from the cabinets and stacked them on top of each other to make a “Christmas tree.” It was a very messy game that required you to rewash all of your dishes when you were done, so it was a rule that he had to ask for permission before playing. The game had started when last year, tips were slow and you were late on your electric bill. You had already asked your mom for help that month, and refused to do it again. This, of course, meant that there was no money for a christmas tree. After Megumi’s December birthday and the one christmas present you could afford, you had to find some way to explain to Megumi why he couldn’t have a tree like the one at grandma’s house. “We have a better one.” You had told him, “One that you can play with all year long.”
Needless to say you had cried yourself to sleep that night.
“We’ll see, Megumi.” You say. The truck comes to a stop in front of your building, and without a word you’re grabbing Megumi out of the truck and slamming the door shut. Not a word said to Toji, not even a glance directed his way.
It had started sprinkling rain on your drive over. This morning, your mom had called you to let you know there was a flood warning for the next city over. You usually didn’t take those entirely too seriously, waving her off when she had asked you to bring Megumi and spend the night at her house.
The apartment is two stories tall with stairs on the outside, so you hold Megumi’s hand in yours as you slowly traverse up the stairs. He was skilled enough to walk up them on his own, but after an incident where he took a small fall down them, you were slightly paranoid.
By the time you’re unlocking your apartment door, you notice that you hadn’t yet heard Toji’s truck pull away, so you glance back to see him still sitting there, waiting for you to get inside. For a moment, the two of you lock eyes. You can feel your heart drop as you usher Gumi in the house and close the door behind you. Don’t give him an ounce.
You hope and pray that that is the last time you will ever have to think about Toji Fushiguro. The last time until Megumi gets old enough to realize his last name is different from yours. The last time until he asks you why all his friends in school have two parents and he only has one. The last time until he gets old enough to ask why you and his dad never made it work. Until you have to hold him as he cries and wonders why Toji never wanted him.
You let Megumi play Christmas Tree so you can lock yourself in the bathroom for a moment to compose yourself.
By the time you get Megumi bathed, fed, and ready for bed, it’s eight at night, and the rain outside has been pouring heavily for a couple hours. Gojo had texted you to let you know that the tips had been good that day, but you had a feeling he was lying so he could slip a bit of his parent’s money into what he “owed you.” The diner was never busy on the Monday lunch shift.
You had made spaghetti that night, a common occurrence in your home and something you were grateful Megumi hadn’t gotten tired of yet. Occasionally, you would get the kitchen guys to sneak you a meal in a togo box to offset grocery costs and eat something different every once in a while. Nanami was one of the cooler managers, which was why you were more comfortable asking that Megumi sit in the diner while you worked that day, but he was not one to let free food slide.
The night was surprisingly peaceful once Megumi was distracted by his toys and tonight’s DVD movie, Toy Story, which Shoko had gotten him for his birthday. You were distracted by cleaning every single pot and pan you had after Megumi was done playing with them.
Once the two of you sat down for dinner, the inevitable questions came, and Megumi had asked you about the encounter with Toji earlier that night.
“Mommy, why did those two guys at your job,” he took a breath in between his sentences and spaghetti, “start hitting each other, and then why did you got in one of their cars?”
That was a long conversation about how some brothers (you had let that slip), don’t get along, and how you had already known Toji, though you didn’t say from where or why. Thankfully, Megumi was more curious about why brothers and sisters fight than why his mother got into this random man’s truck. You would definitely have to revisit the “stranger danger” talk.
It’s about 11 at night when you hear a booming knock at your door. It had pulled you out of your “almost-asleep” daze on the couch. You had already put Megumi to bed by then, and were taking a couple hours to yourself before you went to bed too. You prayed the sound hadn’t woken him.
Whoever it is knocks again, this time harder and faster. Now that you have more mental capacity to process that, someone uninvited is knocking at your door at an inappropriate time of night for a single mother, you dash across your living room to grab the baseball bat you keep by the door. You’ve never had to defend yourself and your son in this capacity, and suddenly the adrenaline kicks in, and you squeeze the wooden slugger to center yourself.
The only light in the room is coming from the TV, playing the play menu of Clueless on repeat. You must have been asleep longer than you thought. Hoping not to be seen through your shadow by the window, you slowly crane your neck up toward the peep-hole of your apartment door. What you see is the last thing you expected.
Of course it’s Toji. Of course he wouldn’t just leave you alone. You’re such a fucking idiot.
For a second you contemplate on whether or not you should open the door, but when he bangs again, somehow even louder, you fear that he won’t only wake up Megumi, but the entire apartment complex.
You put the bat back down and unlock the door, pulling it open slowly so that he would only be able to see half of your body from the angle he’s positioned at. He has his hand leaning on the doorframe, and his figure is hunched over to the point he has to lift his head to look you in the eyes. When he does, you realize what this is. He’s drunk.
His eyes are bloodshot red and watery. He’s soaked from head to toe, he had clearly walked through the rain from wherever he was coming from, or stood out in it for so long that he was drenched. He had a bottle of vodka in his hand that wasn’t against the doorframe, hanging precariously from his grasp like he would drop it at any moment. You couldn’t see how much was in it from here, but you knew he had to have drank quite a bit for him to be in this state.
It’s only when he looks you up and down that you realize you’re only in an old t-shirt and underwear. If this were anyone else, you would’ve squirmed under their gaze, maybe ran to go throw something on, but with Toji, as dumb as it sounded, you couldn’t care less.
“What are you doing here?” You ask him.
He says nothing, just looks you up and down again and takes a shot from the bottle.
“Did you drive here?” He nods. Well that’s not fucking good.
You wait for him to say something, to explain why he felt entitled to knocking on your door in the middle of the night soaking wet with nothing to say. Or maybe you’re waiting for him to explain why he left you in the first place without saying a word. Maybe you’re waiting for him to explain why he never even felt the need to come check if Megumi was his. You’re waiting for a lot of explanations. But you don’t get a single one.
In a voice that can only best be described as broken, he softly slurs out, “You… you named him Megumi?”

Synopsis: Jacaerys Velaryon, the reluctant heir to Atlantica. The moment he saw you, he knew he would never see someone who could capture him with their beauty again. You would haunt him eternally. In a desperate attempt to meet you, he turns to Aemond Targaryen, an outcast from the merfolk, to help him walk amongst the land dwellers. But when Aemond lays his eyes on you, he knows he has to have you. By any means necessary.
Part Two Jace's Ending Aemond's Ending
Tumblr media
Jacaerys Velaryon. The son of Queen Rhaenyra and the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantica, the home of the merfolk. An adventurous young merman, he was often found exploring sunken shipwrecks or the deepest sea caverns in search of treasures and trinkets…
Even when he was supposed to be attending his royal duties.
He couldn’t help it. He knew his mother wanted him to step up as her heir and become the prince he needed to be for his people, but he knew he wasn’t the prince they wanted. He wasn’t the prince they needed. He lacked the drive and ambition for ruling as king. He wasn’t interested in politics, or ruling over the merfolk.
In fact, he often felt conflicted between two worlds.
His home, the ocean, was where his family and his people were. And even though his four younger brothers and two sisters often drove him insane, he loved them dearly. And he loved his mother… his stepfather, Daemon, on the other hand, he barely even tolerated. He disliked how much of an influence he had over his mother, and how much power he held in the kingdom.
The other half of him, however, wished to be above the surface of the waves, where he could feel the full warmth of the sun, the softness of the sand on the shore and the cooling sea breeze…
He wanted to be where the people were.
Out of the water and living among them.
He knew it was outlawed to travel to the surface after his father, Harwin, was murdered by humans. He was incredibly young, barely over five years old, and his brothers Lucerys and Joffrey were too young to even remember, but that didn’t stop him from sneaking off to watch them from a distance. And besides, he was certain the kingdom was so against humans because Daemon seemed to loathe them, often spreading his rather false horror stories over humans and their prejudices against merfolk. There were even whispers of him trying to convince Rhaenyra to go to war with the surface world. Jacaerys disapproved of this, but knew his mother was wiser than that.
And while Jace certainly resented the humans who murdered his father, he knew not all humans were that cruel, just as not all merfolk were like Daemon. He still found himself greatly intrigued by the surface dwellers. Whether they were sailing on their great ships, or frolicking on the beach, or dancing… he wanted to try dancing…
But he knew he could never trade his tail for legs.
And so he spent his days exploring with his companion since birth, a fish with glittering olive green scales and bright orange fins called Vermax, eagerly taking any trinket or human object he could find at the bottom of the seabed or in a long abandoned shipwreck. He would take it to the surface to have it inspected by a seagull, Cannibal, before taking it to his secret grotto, a deep sea cavern where he stored his treasures.
He was often scolded by his mother for forgetting his duties, often arriving late or failing to show up at all sometimes, just like earlier in the week, when he failed to show up to a royal concert when he and Vermax had an unfortunate encounter with a shark while exploring a shipwreck. He had completely forgotten about the concert, going to Cannibal about the two interesting objects he’d found to add to his collection. When he had returned to rather sheepishly apologise to his mother, he had both her and Daemon lecturing him over duty and his careless and reckless behaviour whenever he opened his mouth to try.
It had even gotten to the point where Rhaenyra was now sending Syrax, her golden crab companion, to watch him and make sure he wasn’t getting into trouble, reporting back to her over whether he’d been to the surface. Jace had visited the surface world far less frequently as a result, only managing to do so when he out swam the crustacean. It wouldn’t surprise him if she sent his younger brother Lucerys or his uncle Aegon after him next. Or, heaven forbid, one of his sisters.
It was after one such scolding that Jacaerys found himself at his grotto, admiring his growing collection and daydreaming about being among the people on land. Being where he could walk, run, dance… where he could ask them the thousands of burning questions he had… where he could stay all day in the sun.
Where he could be part of their world.
He smiled to himself at the thought of walking on two legs, but found that fading into a disappointing frown as he looked down to see his tale, scales glittering scarlet and ebony in the fading sunlight.
Everyone assumed he had everything anyone could ever need in life. But he didn’t. He felt torn, ad though he didn’t belong under the ocean, but above the surface.
He wanted more than this.
He let out a soft exhale of disappointment, allowing himself to float down to the bottom of the cavern and landing on a slab of rock jutting out from the stone floor.
“I just wish to be part of that world, Vermax. Up there. All these treasures I have… they’re neat. And it seems as though I have everything… but it’s not enough. I want to live among them. I have everything I could ever need, and yet I want more…” He murmured, too caught up in his own thoughts to notice the stone entrance to his grotto sliding open.
A low whistle of mild impressment did, however, catch his attention, followed by a amused voice.
“Mother’s going to kill you.”
Lucerys was leaning against the closed entrance to the grotto, his arms crossed. Both Velaryon boys were rather similar, with dark curls and deep brown eyes. But Lucerys’ hair was shorter, and a slightly darker brown, and he had more black scales than Jacaerys, whose tail was mostly red, like their mother.
Jacaerys shot up, his cheeks slightly flushed. “Luke-“
“What is all of this stuff?” Luke asked, looking around the grotto rather amusedly.
“It’s… it’s just my… collection…”
“Impressive. I always wondered what you were doing when you constantly snuck away,” He mused. “But like I said, if mother finds out about this, you’re dead. She’s worried about you, always obsessing over the surface world and neglecting your duties...”
Jace rolled his eyes at his younger brother. Above him he heard a distant booming noise. Glancing up through the hole in the cavern roof where the surface of the water was visible, he saw a thousand colours light up the sky in a flurry of sparks and fizzing. He ignored his brother’s continued chattering, transfixed on whatever was happening in the world above.
“I told her that you were either crazy, or this is a just phase…”
“What do you suppose…?” Jacaerys muttered to himself, ignoring his brother’s teasing antics and swimming up to where the noise and bright flashing colours were coming from.
“But I didn’t realise you were this obsessed- where are you going? Jace! You can’t go up there! Humans are trouble! Mother said so!” Luke called after his brother, but he was already gone, Vermax hurrying after him. Luke glanced over at where Syrax was perched on a nearby ledge.
“So… should you follow him or should I?” He asked.
Syrax, realising Luke didn’t want to be the one to do so, hopped off the ledge and hurried after the older prince, who had now reached the water’s surface.
Jace gazed up in sheer awe at the great ship sailing towards him, the illuminating the night sky in a flurry of sparks in the most vibrant shades of scarlet, blue, emerald and gold. The sails billowed in the ocean winds, the largest of which was imprinted with what Jace could only assume was a royal sigil.
As Jace moved to get closer to the ship, he let out a yelp, feeling a sharp a pinch on his arm, Looking down to the culprit, he flicked Syrax off him and rubbed his arm, the skin slightly reddened from where the crab pinched him.
Diving back beneath the waves to move closer to the ship, Vermax hot on his tail. When he reached the great vessel, Jacaerys hoisted himself up and managed to climb up the side of the ship. He knew it was a risky move. If he was caught by the sailors, he would be captured or even killed. If was caught by his mother or Daemon… it might be even worse. But his curiosity had gotten the better of him.
He kept hidden in the shadows, peering through a gap on the side of the boat. There was cheering, dancing, drinking and singing, a celebration of sorts, and it somewhat relieved Jace that the sailors were probably too occupied with the festivities to notice him.
A sweet melody filled Jace’s ears as the sailors danced. A flute, he believed, was playing. He remembered reading about them in an old book he’d recovered from a shipwreck. He’d always imagined how their tune sounded, and he wasn’t disappointed.
He wasn’t sure what was being celebrated, but it seemed to be a most joyous occasion. Everyone seemed in the highest of moods and the most joyful of spirits. It was wonderful to see this side of the surface dwellers, and he couldn’t look away.
In fact, he was so entranced by the humans that he found himself jumping back in shock as a rather strange and hairy creature, a dog he believed came bounding over to him. He had read about them but had never seen them in person before, but it seemed friendly enough, sniffing him with interest and wagging its tail.
Jace smiled, rather tentatively reaching out to the animal, only to shrink back into the shadows as a female voice called out to the creature.
“Max! Here boy!”
Jace cautiously peered back around, his eyes widening as he laid eyes on who might possibly be the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen.
You.
He watched as Max eagerly bounded over to you, jumping up to lick your face in greeting. You laughed, gently pushing the dog away from you slightly and patting his head.
“Down boy. Good boy. C’mon what’s got you so excited?” You smiled, looking over in Jace’s direction and causing him to duck back into the darkness again. His cheeks were flushed pink, his mouth slightly agape. He knew if Luke were here, he would never hear the end of it. But after having seen numerous paintings and drawings of human women in books he’d found, as well as meeting with countless potential matches organised by his mother, be found that none of them, even the most notoriously beautiful mermaids, compared to you.
He found himself peering back around to admire you once again as you sat down with Max, rubbing the dog’s stomach and watching the ongoing celebrations. You were dressed rather simply in a white linen shirt with the top two buttons undone and a pair of blue breeches, a pair of black knee high leather boots on your feet. Your hair was down and loose, fluttering in the nightly see breeze.
You were absolutely beautiful.
A sudden loud screech to Jace’s side caused him to reluctantly tear his gaze away from you, sending the culprit a nasty glare.
“Quiet, Cannibal.” He hissed, not wanting to draw attention to his hiding place. Cannibal edged closer to Jace, seemingly wanting to see what- or who- had caught the young prince’s attention. When the bird laid eyes on you, he let out an even louder screech that sounded a little like a squawk of amusement, only to have Jace grab him by the beak to shut him up.
“I said quiet.” He shot the gull another glare before returning his focus to you. “I’ve never seen a human up this close before.” He breathed as he watched you play a small, cheerful melody on a flute, the flute he must have been hearing earlier, Max running around in circles around you as you twirled around, the both of you almost dancing together to the tune.
“She… she’s very beautiful…” He murmured, shooting yet another glare to the bird as he let out a slight muffled wheeze through his closed beak. Jace followed Cannibal’s gaze to where Max continued to dance around you. “No, not that thing.” He muttered, using the hand wrapped around Cannibal’s beak to move the bird’s head upwards to look at you. “The human.”
“Silence! Silence!” A man suddenly announced, his arms outstretched as he stood in the centre of the deck. “It is now my deepest honour and privilege to present our esteemed Princess Y/N with her birthday gift.”
“Y/N…” Jacaerys murmured dreamily, watching you step forward with a chorus of cheers from the crowd onboard. “Princess Y/N…”
The man stepped to the side to present a large object concealed by sapphire blue cloth and tied with a scarlet ribbon. “Happy birthday, Y/N.” He smiled, and with one tug on the ribbon, the cloth fell to reveal… a statue of you.
You were dressed in an extravagant gown, your arm raised in the air, your gleaming sword pointed towards the sky. Your expression was not warm as it was in reality, but one of hardened steel.
It was a warrior’s statue.
Jace tilted his head, his brows furrowing. The statue captured your beauty, that much was certain, but there was something missing from it. Maybe it was lacking your smile that sent a swarm of butterflies to erupt in his stomach, or the sparkle in your eyes. Whatever it was… it made the statue seem… unlike you.
“Wow… Grimsby you shouldn’t have.” Your voice sounded rather exasperated. “It’s… truly something to behold.”
Jace smiled. He could tell you were struggling to muster a compliment, but didn’t want to seem ungrateful.
“You like it?”
“It’s… really something…” You muttered, staring up at the statue, your lips pressed into a thin line and your eyes crinkled at the edges as you winced slightly, looking physically in pain at the sight of the gift. “Although it seems rather-“
“I commissioned it myself,” Grimsby declared rather proudly, his hand placed over his heart and making you immediately close your mouth. “Although… I had hoped it would be a wedding gift…”
“Oh don’t start, Grimsby,” You groaned, turning away from him and leaning on the side of the boat, just above where Jacaerys was hiding. “Are you really still sore that I rejected the proposal from that Dornish prince?”
“It isn’t just me, Y/N,” Grimsby sighed, stepping forward. “Your parents, the entire kingdom wishes for you to happily settle down with the right man-“
“Exactly, Grimsby! I need to find the right man,” You argued, sitting down on the side of the ship with one hand holding the rigging of the boat to prevent yourself from falling. “I know he’s out there somewhere. But I don’t want to marry for duty. I’ve always devoted myself to that. I want to marry for love. I want to find someone who… who has the same ambitions as me. Who… wants to see the world and sees past the fact I’m a princess. Someone who understands what it’s like to yearn to be out there exploring the world. Someone who understands freedom, and who wants to break free… and who understands that a part of me belongs out there in that world. Out there in the seas.”
Jace’s expression brightened at your words, his heart fluttering in his chest at you possibly sharing similar struggles to him.
It was like you were too good to be true.
That could be him… he could be that man for you…
“I’ll find him one day. He’s out there somewhere I… I just haven’t found him yet.”
“Well, perhaps you haven’t been looking hard enough.”
“Not helpful, Grimsby.” You grumbled, rising to your feet and looking out at the ocean, as black as the clouds brewing overhead. “Believe me, when I find him, I’ll know. Without a doubt.” Your words were firm, your expression one of clear resolve. “When I see him, it’ll… it’ll just hit me like… like lightning!”
No sooner did those words leave your mouth, you and Jace looked up as the deep growl of thunder rumbled overhead, a flash of lightning lighting up the sky.
“Hurricane!” A sailor yelled. “Stand fast! Secure the rigging!”
You immediately sprung into action, leaning forward to pull on the ropes as the waves lapped against the ship more aggressively than before, the wind whipping through your hair and rain beginning to pelt down from the sky as though the heavens themself were opening.
Jace grabbed ahold of the ship, failing to grab Cannibal as the gull was blown away by the wind torrents with a loud screech of protest. While the others focused on untying the lifeboats, Jace watched as you leaped up the stairs two at a time to reach the steering wheel of the ship that was spinning out of control, trying to stop the ship from capsizing into the water. A large surge of water passed over the ship, drenching you completely and those onboard.
Despite gripping onto the ship as tightly as he could, Jace soon found himself falling back into the water, barrels, crates and even the sailors following him beneath the surface. He swam upwards as quick as his tail could move, breaking through the surface to see a jagged flash of lightning hit the main sail of the ship.
Flames blazed through your royal seal emblazoned on the sail, burning through the cloth and spreading to the mast of the ship.
Jace gasped as he saw the ship uncontrollably heading towards a cluster of jagged rocks jutting out from the sea, you still at the wheel struggling to gain control of the ship. He wanted to scream at you, to climb onto the boat and help you steer the ship to safety, or to just grab you and get you off the ship, but he knew he couldn’t. He watched with a horrified expression as the ship rammed against the rocks, throwing more sailors and cargo, including you and the statue, overboard and into the depths below. The mast snapped, falling forwards and spreading the fire to the rest of the ship.
Jacaerys swam forward to see you help Grimsby onto the lifeboat to join several other of your crew mates. He felt a small sigh of relief to see you safe as you hauled yourself into the small boat, but it the feeling was short lived as you frantically looked around the small cluster of life boats, your gaze ultimately returning to the raging inferno consuming the ship.
“Max!”
No, no, no, no.
You couldn’t go back.
Jace couldn’t watch you do that.
To risk your life and possibly lose it.
He followed you as you swam back to the burning ship, hauling yourself back onboard to save your beloved dog.
“Jump, Max! Come on, you can do it. Come on, boy, just jump!” You desperately cried out to the animal, unable to move further forward thanks to the flames and the collapsed mast.
Jace squinted, trying to see you through the billowing smoke, his breath caught in his throat. As he saw your silhouette emerge through the smoke, he released the breath he was holding, but it got caught in his throat as your foot suddenly fell through the deck and out of his sight.
Max fell off the boat and into the sea where he was pulled onto the lifeboat by the surviving sailors, who cried out to you as you desperately tried to free yourself from where your foot was stuck, the flames flickering higher and higher around you, the smoke filling your lungs and choking you from any oxygen.
You managed to loosen your foot enough to pull it out of your boot as the inferno raged on, but it proved feeble as a barrel of gunpowder rolled past you and into the flames. As soon as the ship exploded, Jacaerys surged forward to where the ship wreckage was sinking beneath the waves, frantically looking around for any sight of you, the flames providing enough light for him to see clearly. Upon seeing no sight of you, he rose back to the surface. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw you, unconscious, balanced on a plank of wood from the deck. No sooner did he see you, the violent waves caused you to slip from the plank and under the water.
As you sank deeper and deeper, Jacaerys swam after you, managing to grab ahold of you and heading in the direction of the shore. He made sure to keep your head above the water so you could hopefully breathe, not even caring whether you were dead or alive at that moment. He just needed to get you to safety.
His arms ache as he finally reached the shallows, struggling to drag both you and himself onto the beach. He cradled you in his arms, his chestnut eyes scanning your form for any sign of life. For any slight twitch, any movement, any breath. Yet your eyes remained closed, your skin pale and your mouth slightly agape.
“Is she… dead?” The word almost got caught in Jacaerys’ throat as he turned to where Cannibal landed beside them on rather shaky legs.
Please don’t be dead… please don’t be dead…
“She… she can’t be dead…” Jace murmured, a finger gently opening one of your eyes. Upon seeing them up close, he realised how beautiful your eyes were. Cannibal hopped between you and Jace, pressing his head against your foot, letting out a small, sorrowful caw.
“Wait… wait look! She’s breathing!” Jace exclaimed as you let out a small exhale, your chest beginning to gently rose and fell. He sent a small disapproving look to Cannibal. “You know that’s not where they breathe, right?” He muttered as Cannibal leaped the air and landed on a nearby rock.
Jace rolled his eyes, looking back to where your breaths were becoming less shallow and more even. “She’s so beautiful…” He whispered as he looked down at you. Your clothes were torn, and one of your boots was gone, your dripping wet hair plastered over your forehead. Jace reached over to gently brush it away from your face.
As his hand moved to gently caress your cheek, he found himself humming a small tune his mother used to sing to him at night. It was an old tune from generations long since passed, sung in an ancient language that was no longer spoken by merfolk other than the royal family, although Jace’s was a little rusty at best after missing so many lessons. It was a lullaby that always soothed him after a night terror when he was young.
His humming soon evolved into him softly singing the song, and a smile spread onto his face as he saw your eyelids flutter and open ever so slightly, your soft, small hand reaching up to place over his. When your hand made contact with his, Jace felt his heartbeat quicken, his skin feeling as though it were on fire from your touch.
A loud bark made him flinch back away from you, spotting Grimsby and Max on the horizon. He dived into the water as the dog bounded over to you, eagerly greeting you by slobbering on your face as you slowly sat up, one hand- the hand that touched Jace’s- resting on the side of your head as you groggily looked around.
“Y/N! Oh thank goodness,” Grimsby breathed in relief, his hand reaching into his pocket and taking out his slightly damp handkerchief, which he used to dab his clammy forehead. “You really delight in these sadistic strains on my blood pressure, don’t you?” He muttered, leaning down to help the princess to her feet. “Are you alright, my dear?”
“I… I saw… a boy. He… he rescued me…” You muttered, one hand still clutching your head as you regained your balance. “He was singing to me. He had the most beautiful voice…” You trailed off, swaying slightly.
”Oh, Y/N,” Grimsby sighed. “I think you’ve swallowed a bit too much seawater.”
“No, I saw him.” She protested, looking out at the shore. “I heard him.”
“Of course you did, my dear,” Grimsby sighed, wrapping an arm over the girl’s shoulders. “Come on. Off we go. Come along, Max- Max! What is that dog barking at now?”
“Max!” You called out, followed by a sharp whistle that got the dog’s attention from where he was barking in Jace’s direction, the prince hiding behind a rock.
As you, Grimsby and Max left the small beach and headed towards your castle, Jace watched you go, Cannibal perched on the rock in front him.
“I don’t know when, I don’t know how… but watch and you’ll see, someday I’ll be part of that world. I know I will be!” He declared to his feathered companion, a steely determination set in those deep brown eyes of his. “No matter what it takes.”
A short distance away, Jacaerys was being watched by an ancient beast. A large, bronze eel, one eye a glittering green and the other glowing a vibrant sapphire blue. She watched him silently for a moment before dipping beneath the surface to return to her master.
It was only a matter of time before the young prince sought him out.

“You summoned me, mother?”
Queen Rhaenyra smiled fondly at her second born son as perched regally on her throne, her golden trident, the source of her power passed down from her father, resting beside her.
“Yes, Lucerys. I wished to ask you about your brother.”
“J-Jacaerys?” Luke stammered.
“Yes. I tasked you with watching over him but you have yet to report back to me. Your sisters have noticed certain things…”
“O-oh?”
“Apparently he’s to himself, daydreaming even more than usual, not swimming to sunken shipwrecks looking for trouble… it’s almost as though something has consumed his mind completely.”
“Well… he seems normal to me mother.” Lucerys chuckled nervously, making Rhaenyra raise an eyebrow.
“Rhaena and Baela said he swam past them in very high spirits this morning, putting flowers in their hair and singing to himself.”
“Well… well I-“
“Lucerys, I know you’re keeping something from me, sweet one.”
“Ke-keeping something, mother? I would never.”
“Really? Because Rhaena and Baela told me something else rather interesting.”
“They… they did?”
“About Jacaerys… his mood. His high spirits and his daydreaming. It’s as though he’s come alive. I’ve seen the signs before, both in myself and others.”
“You… have seen what?” Luke visibly gulped as Rhaenyra beckoned him closer.
“Isn’t it obvious? Jacaerys is in love, is he not? Or at least infatuated?”
“I… I don’t know mother-“
“Come now, Luke. I understand that you and Jace are at that age where you don’t feel the need to tell me everything, but this is important…”
Luke felt face flush slightly. If Rhaenyra found out, she’d be furious. But what would be worse is if Jace got captured, or killed.
“Mother… I do not know-“
“I only wish to know who the lucky mermaid is…”
“Mother-“
“Or merman perhaps? He is rather good friends with Cregan of the Arctic waters, is he not?”
“I- I wouldn’t know, I-“
“Unless you simply do not wish to fulfil the task I have given you and have been neglecting your duty-“
“I tried to stop him mother!” Lucerys suddenly exclaimed, making Rhaenyra raise her eyebrows in slight surprise at her son’s outburst.
“Stop him? From what?” Rhaenyra’s expression changed from one of mild amusement to immediate concern.
“I tried to stop him from doing it but he never listens to me. Just because he’s older, he thinks he can swim to the surface even though I warned him about the humans-“
“Humans? What about humans?” Rhaenyra demanded, gripping her trident harshly and making Luke stop in his tracks.
“Hu-humans? Why mother, who said anything about humans?” He chuckled, glancing away from his mother.
“Luke…” Rhaenyra warned, rising from her throne. “What has your brother been doing? Tell me. Now.”
“I… I don’t know what happened mother. He saw these flames in the sky and he followed them to the surface. I tried to stop him, I promise I did. When he returned the next morning he was a completely different person. Happier. And yet somehow more annoying-“
“Luke…”
“Anyway,” Lucerys cleared his throat. “I asked him what happened and… and…”
“And what? And what, Luke?”
“He said he’d saved… a human…” Lucerys muttered. “A princess.”
“He saved a human? Those murderous savages.” A voice spoke from the shadows.
Lucerys felt his heart sink as he realised he’d failed to notice Daemon’s presence, too focused on trying to protect his brother’s secret from their mother.
“I…” For once, Lucerys had found himself at a loss for words.
“I think that’s everything we need Lucerys… you may leave.” Daemon ordered, but Lucerys stood his ground.
“No. I want to know what you’ll do-“
“Luke, go to your chambers.”
“But, mother-“
“Lucerys. Go.” The sternness of Rhaenyra’s words and the fire within her eyes made Lucerys reluctantly comply, swimming off with his heart sinking at what he’d done.
“Humans? Love? He’s going to get himself killed.” Rhaenyra sighed, looking over at her husband. “What do you suggest I do?”
“The only way we can save Jacaerys is if we rid him of these absurd thoughts. We need to act quickly.”
“I do not want to push him away more than I already have.” Rhaenyra said as Daemon swam over to her, resting a hand on her shoulder.
“If we don’t act now, you’ll lose him to the surface. You of all people know what they do to our kind. He’s your heir, Rhaenyra. Your first born son. To protect him, we may need to hurt him.”
“But, Daemon-“
“Do you want him to resort to extreme solutions like your brother did? Do you want him to suffer that same fate as Aemond? Or turn to him for a solution?”
“Jacaerys isn’t like Aemond in any way. He is not cruel, or cunning like him. He would never seek him out. He knows better.”
“For now.” Daemon replied. “But love can cloud and deceive the mind in ways that can make the greatest of men fall.”

“Vermax, what’s going on?” Jace asked as the small fish attempted to herd him in the direction of the grotto. Jace rolled the stone away, moving forward to enter, but his companion stopped him in his tracks, swimming right up go his face and turning, flicking his tail into Jace’s eyes.
“Ouch! Vermax,” Jace rubbed his eyes, wincing slightly at the small sting. “Okay, it’s that important of a surprise.” He sighed, complying with Vermax’s wishes. “If you wanted me to close my eyes you could just ask nicely.” He muttered, feeling himself being gently nudged slowly into the grotto, his arms held out in front of him in case Vermax decided to steer him into a wall. Again.
Jace had been in his grotto so many times he knew where he was when Vermax moved in front of him again, this time flicking him on the hand to stop him in his tracks.
“Really? Again?” Jace sighed. “At least it was more gentle that time.” He muttered. Vermax nudged his hand, and Jace opened his eyes, letting out a small gasp at the sight in front of him.
There, placed in the centre of his grotto, the new centrepiece of his treasure collection… was your statue. He turned to the small fish, a wide smile growing on his face.
“You’re the best, Vermax,” He grinned, swimming over to the statue. “It’s perfect. How… how did you find this- how did you get this in here?” He asked. “Nevermind, I know I’ll never find out. Oh gods, it’s perfect- she’s perfect. It looks just like her- well, her eyes have more sparkle in real life, and they’re kinder too…”
He swam circles around the statue, analysing every angle. “It really is a work of art,” He murmured, a hand reaching up again to rest on the statue’s stone cold cheek. “If only it were real. Then we could run away from all our troubles… and find a place where we can belong. Don’t you think that would be the best thing, Verm-“ As he turned to address his closest friend, he was instead greeted by the face of his mother. A face that was half concealed by shadows and that was twisted in both sorrow and fury.
“M-mother. I can explain-“
“I think everything is quite clear to me, Jacaerys,” Rhaenyra interrupted, swimming out of the shadows, golden trident glinting in the fading light. Jace felt himself wince at the harshness of her tone when she spoke his full name.
“I consider myself a reasonable mermaid. A reasonable queen. And a reasonable mother,” She continued, her voice although soft in volume, was also cold in time. “I set certain rules to protect my people. To protect you. And I expect those rules to be followed.”
”But, mother, it’s not what you thi-“
“Is it true you rescued a human from drowning?” She demanded. Jace felt his mouth dry up. She knew? Luke… or Syrax, somehow?
“I… I had to. She… she would have died…”
“Contact between the human and mer worlds is strictly forbidden. You know this, everyone knows this. And I thought you of all people should understand this.”
“She would have died mother!”
“And that would only be one less human to worry about,” Daemon spoke up, emerging from the shadows behind Rhaenyra.
“You don’t even know her!” Jace protested, placing himself in front of your statue, as though he was protecting you.
“Know her?” Daemon let out a mocking laugh. “We don’t need to know her.” He snarled. “Humans, they’re all the same. Spineless, savage, harpoon, fish- eaters who are incapable of any feeling-”
“I love her.” Jacaerys blurted out, stopping Daemon in his tracks and making Rhaenyra’s expression morph into one of horror.
“No…” She breathed. “No, Jacaerys it… it cannot be true… have… have you lost your senses completely? You haven’t even met her! She’s human.”
“And you’re a merman.” Daemon sneered.
“I don’t care.” Jace retorted defiantly. “I’ll find a way.”
“Jacaerys, so help me, please do not escalate this.” Rhaenyra warned.
“Escalate it? What can you do mother? I’m not a child anymore!”
“We clearly aren’t getting through to him,” Daemon said. “You know what you have to do, Rhaenyra.”
“W-what’s he talking about, mother?” Jace asked, backing up so he was blocking the statue completely, a weary edge to his tone.
“I need to get through to you Jace,” Rhaenyra’s voice was solemn. “And if this is the only way…” She looked away from her son, raising her arm so the trident was pointing to an upper shelf of the grotto. “…So be it.”
“Mother, don’t!” Jace exclaimed, the realisation finally dawning on him. But it was too late. The trident was now glowing with lightning and flames, casting the grotto in a harsh orange light. Beams shot from the trident, perfectly landing on their targets.
His entire book collection? Gone.
His paintings, his jewellery collection, his candlesticks and compass? Reduced to dust.
Everything, from his gadgets and gizmos to his whozits and whatzits, were completely destroyed.
“Mother, mother please stop,” Jacaerys pleaded, desperately grabbing onto Rhaenyra’s arm, his eyes glassed over with tears threatening to spill at any moment.
But he wasn’t going to give Daemon the satisfaction of letting them fall.
“Mother- mother no, please no!” He yelled, following her gaze to where she aimed the trident at your statue, reducing it to rubble mere seconds later.
Jace let go of his mother, letting himself float to the grotto floor in front of where your statue was standing so proudly moments ago.
Rhaenyra, tore her gaze away from her eldest son, quickly swimming away from the irreparable damage she’d caused, both to herself and Jace. She too didn’t want to let the cracks show. Daemon stayed where he was, admiring the destruction of the treasures created by the beings he despised so.
“If you truly loved the humans, Jacaerys, if you truly wanted to be where you belong, you should go to them,” He said coldly, cruelly. “Because you certainly don’t belong here.”
As Daemon swam from the grotto, followed by his companion, a blood red moray eel called Caraxes, Jace finally let the tears spill, his chest heaving with the sobs that racked through his body.
“Jace…”
“Go away.”
“Jace, I’m sorry-“
“Sorry? Sorry that she destroyed everything?” Jace exclaimed, turning to glare at his younger brother. “Look what she did Luke. Look what Daemon made her do.” He turned away again as his voice cracked, another wave of realisation hitting him that his pride and joy, his wonderful collection that had taken him years to put together, was gone.
And your statue along with it.
“Jace, I didn’t know this was going to happen. I thought you might get in trouble and-“
“Just go away,” He whispered.
Luke hung his head low, reluctantly leaving his brother alone and joining Syrax, Vermax and Arrax, an infant ray who shimmered a pearl white, with the exception of his golden underside and eyes to match. Like Vermax, he was not yet fully grown.
“I don’t know what I’m going to do. I can’t leave him, and… I hate seeing him like this, annoying as he is. It’s all Daemon’s fault, that son of a-“ Lucerys’ ranting was cut off as Syrax pinched his lips between her claw. Before he could prize her off him, a large shadow loomed over the group, and the three sea creatures ushered the younger prince behind a rock, hiding him from sight.
It was an eel, but it was considerably larger than Caraxes, by two times at least. She looked more like some ancient sea serpent, for she was an ancient creature. Her bronze scales that once gleaned brightly had dulled with age, but her eyes still gleamed just as bright, as did the small clusters of blue and green streaked along the top and underside of her body. One eye was a vibrant green, like grass in the height of springtime. The other was an unnaturally vibrant blue, glowing brightly in the night like a sapphire.
Vhagar was surely an fearsome sight to behold.
Lucerys watched the beast slither into the grotto. He went to follow her, but Syrax stopped him by pinching his side.
“I can’t let him be eaten, can I?” He hissed, rubbing the reddened skin. “I have to do something!” He protested, but Syrax and Arrax blocked his path adamantly. Even Vermax was more focused on keeping the younger prince hidden than going to Jace, grabbing long stems of kelp and dropping them over Luke, who brushed them off him immediately.
“You have to let me help him? It’s just some old eel, right?”
Tumblr media
Jacaerys had wiped his eyes, but was still staring down at the rubble, not wanting to lift his head to be greeted with the sight of his former grotto, once a proud collection, now reduced to nothing. He didn’t want to cry again.
He let out a deep, shaking breath, trying to slow his hammering heart and calm the tremble in his hands. And yet every time he closed his eyes, all he saw was the princess he saved.
“Mijegindita riña… Mijegindita dōna riña…”[Poor child… poor sweet child…]
Jace’s head shot up to be greeted with the sight of Vhagar circling him like a constrictor about to suffocate it’s prey, her blue eye glowing violently in the darkness. He recognised the language as High Valyrian, the ancient language of merfolk. But he was far from a fluent speaker. In fact, he was rather terrible.
“I-I’m sorry I… I don’t fully understand…”
“It seems as though you have a very serious problem… if only there was something that could be done…”
The beast continued, this time in a modern tongue. Her voice was more of a deep, ancient rumble, coming from within. She didn’t move her mouth when she spoke, but Jace saw the glinting of those dagger like teeth. It was as though she were a vessel for someone else to speak to him. As though someone was speaking through her.
“Perhaps there is something that could be done for you…” Vhagar continued, circling closer and closer around Jace, turning her head towards him so he could clearly see her in the silvery glow of the moon above.
“I… I know you…” Jace breathed, and she retreated back into the inky murkiness of the shadows. “But that’s impossible… you… you and him… you were both banished… after what happened with- with Luke…”
He was only young when his uncle Aemond was banished, and Lucerys was too young to properly remember everything, but the memories still stuck with the elder prince vividly. He remembered the glint of the blade in the torchlight, he remembered Lucerys lunging at Aemond, and the young man’s screams wailing through the kingdom.
That was many years ago. Over a decade.
“Don’t be scared…” The voice spoke. “I represent the person who can help you. Someone who can make all your dreams come true…”
“I don’t think-“
“Just imagine-“ The voice cut him off, Vhagar’s head slithered past him, that piercing blue eye focused entirely on the prince. “You and your princess. Together, forever.” There was a slight mocking edge to the voice as it spoke, making Jace frown.
“No… no I can’t.” Jace faltered, knowing the offer, although tempting, was surely tainted with something far more sinister in return.
“Aemond has become incredibly powerful. He can use his power to help you...”
That stopped Jace in his tracks. He’d heard the rumours of his depraved uncle turning to dark magic in his exile. Some said he’d saught out the sea witch, Alys Rivers, who had mysteriously vanished months after his banishment.
“No I... I couldn’t possibly go to him. No. Get out of here! Leave me alone!” He exclaimed, lunging forwards and out of Vhagar’s reach to sit on one of his now empty ledges and facing away from the beast.
”Suit yourself,” The voice said as Vhagar retreated. “It was only a suggestion.” As she left, her tail flicked upwards, causing your statue’s face, still somehow intact unlike the rest of the statue, to land beside Jace. He reached over and picked it up, cradling it in his arms, Daemon’s words echoing over and over again in his mind.
“If you truly loved the humans, Jacaerys, if you truly wanted to be where you belong, you should go to them…”
“…Because you certainly don’t belong here.”
And for once, Jacaerys agreed with Daemon.
He was his mother’s heir, and yet he had no qualities of being a king. He wasn’t studious, or particularly charismatic in the eyes of the people. He did his royal duties when he remembered, but he had never aspired to be a king.
He remembered every little slip up, every time he’d been late to an event, every time he’d disappointed his mother and his siblings. Even little Viserys and Aegon could do a better job that he could. Even Luke with his mischievous ways, and young Joffrey, carried out their tasks to perfection. And his sisters, Baela and Rhaena were born to lead.
He wasn’t born for that.
He didn’t belong.
When he watched you on that ship, when he watched the people celebrate your birthday, and dance and sing and tell stories, he felt more at home. Like he could belong.
Daemon was right.
His mind was made up.
He was going to see Aemond.
“Wait!” He called out, and Vhagar’s face loomed into view once again.
“Take me to him.”
A/N: I know, I know, and I’m sorry to the Aemond girlies who are disappointed he didn’t show up. But I can promise you that he will be centre stage throughout most of Part Two
