Agents of SHIELD Rewatch Season 4A (ep. 1-8)

Here's my commentary on my rewatch of Agents of SHIELD Season 4 Episodes 1-8. This may not be the best commentary since these are just the thoughts and opinions that come to my mind as I watch the episodes rather than a full-blown analysis, but I'm just having fun with it!

Oh boy, do I have OPINIONS about these first few episodes…

4x01 The Ghost

And here’s where the show took advantage of the 10pm time slot: we get a scene of Daisy getting dressed.

Also the score for the Ghost Rider pod is badass and also the same score Daisy was listening to when she was in quarantine after getting her powers in s2.

This season also gave me a new appreciation for the title card.

The Mack and Coulson dynamic is pretty cool this season.

Especially after how they were kind of butting heads in season 2.

DAVIS D. DAVIS

“I think you look forward to that more than I do” about May.

May isn’t wearing heels, so you can actually see how short she actually is irl😅

PIPER!! LOVE HER ATTITUDE!

“Spine pulled out of his… ohh” Oh Mack, I love you.

“May, you’re not sharing”

Thank you Coulson and Mack for understanding Daisy’s intentions.

“Who the hell are you” - Mack. My second favorite person to say this line.

“Those are football teams” “Not sure they are, Turbo”

Mack is such a mood. Wanted an exploding pen.

Emo Daisy style tho👌🏼

Love how you don’t really see much of Robbie’s face at first. Raises the intimidation.

Mack’s one liners are ON POINT!

ELENA!!! I LOVE YOU!

They really set Davis up to die this season giving him a wife and a kid on the way.

“Just ask me to dinner again” WHAT HAPPENED AT THE FIRST DINNER!

THE TENSION! I LOVE IT!

YOYO MADE MACK SPEECHLESS.

Also, because of the Accords, literally every move Elena makes is tracked. EVERY powered and enhanced individual that is under the Accords is being tracked. Literally taking away innocent citizens’ civil liberties. This is why being Team Cap is the right answer. The government is taking advantage of their power and using it to track and later kill individuals like inhumans who have done nothing wrong but are being targeted.

Radcliffe just has Aida naked all the time???

“WHOT THE HELL”

I can’t watch Daisy getting on the bus seriously anymore knowing that the crew decided to troll Chloe and have it drive away😂

Daisy and Yo-Yo friendship🥹 screw you season 5.

“I think I stumbled upon a serial killer” “Ooh fun”

“Take care of yourself” All Daisy wants for the team is for them to be safe.

Also how can anyone blame Daisy for leaving. She’s loss so much and has felt the guilt for all of it. Not to mention how NO ONE except Mack decided to go down and see her and comfort her after Hive. Daisy left because she didn’t want to feel like a burden, which if i’m being honest, the team kinda treated her like so after Hive and talking to her only for information. Daisy left because she cared about her team. She didn’t want to be the reason she brought them pain. However, I have a feeling that them not talking to her is what also pushed her away, thinking that they didn’t want her around anymore.

Elizabeth and Ming are essentially the same height, so they couldn’t have May in heels and put Jemma in shoes that have a lift in them so that she seems intimidating towards May.

I love Robbie Reyes. Just thought you all should know.

I appreciate that Jemma has gained the confidence to where she can handle positions of authority, but knowing what I know happens later makes it really hard to be proud of her for it. The fandom respects Jemma’s authority, but when Daisy is in authority, she’s disrespected? How come Daisy’s authority isn’t respected later?? Jemma was quick to defy Daisy in season 5.

And Jemma has the nerve to assume May is jealous of her status? May makes it clear that even she’s surprised what the position has done to Jemma.

I do understand Jemma wanting the power to keep the team together in some capacity, but it shouldn’t come at the expense of your friends’ respect.

“After all we’ve been through” yet you, Jemma, insinuating May being jealous of you. You’re the one who has thrown away the respect they deserve just as much.

Daisy does her research. But I liked to believe she knew Robbie’s car’s model because Coulson and Mack are such a car guys that they probably shared some car facts with her.

“These guys might kill someone else besides themselves” “YEAH US”

The visual effects this season are INSANE!

How come it’s barely touched on that Daisy is literally suicidal this season?

Even the Ghost Rider sees Daisy as a good person.

4x02 Meet the New Boss

The team always saw the common room of the Playground as home🥺 now that it’s redecorated, it’s doesn’t have that homey feeling.

Daisy with the tea mug and acting all smug is giving me life.

I feel like a lot of people dislike Mace, which is understandable given what we got of him at first, but later, you can actually see how he’s a good person.

Robbing banks and returning money to their rightful owners. How come they only look at the bad?

“Maybe she’s just a ghost”

The little Piper and May interaction.

Again, Daisy is literally suicidal. Why is barely anyone talking about it?

“Fighting to right every wrong” DAISY’S CHARACTER IN A NUTSHELL!

She still keeps a picture of Lincoln😭

I LOVE THIS SCENE WITH DAISY ON THE CAR! I bet Chloe had so much fun with that scene.

“Neutralize powers. I’d love to see them” that guy seemed a little too happy about repressing powers.

“Who wants to step aside a real life quinjet” ME🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️ Aren’t they supposed to have a quinjet ride coming to Avengers Campus at Disnleyland or is that just something I dreamt/made up?

Poor May😭

“Always looking out for us” THATS MAY

It definitely was cool during my first watch finding out that Mace was “inhuman”

The way Mack carefully cares for Daisy’s arm😭😭

“She’s turned her back” She most certainly HAS NOT! WTF!! Has she done anything terrible to you, Fitz? I don’t think so. And don’t say choking you out during Hive cause that was not of her will.

“Something terrible happened, and she didn’t want our help getting through it” WHEN DID YOU GUYS HELP HER??? YOU GUYS HAD HER LOCKED IN A CELL. YOU TREATED HER LIKE SHIT AND ONLY SPOKE TO HER TO GET INFORMATION OUT OF HER, MAKING HER RELIVE EVENTS THAT SHE MOST DEFINITELY SHOILD HAVE PTSD FROM! THE ONLY PERSON WHO SPOKE TO HER WITH SYMPATHY AND COMPASSION WAS MACK!! Oh my god just get Fitz off my screen already.

“We’ve all been through terrible things” That is something you NEVER EVER want to tell a person who is depressed, suicidal, and grieving after a very traumatic experience. Also, you didn’t have that attitude when other people went through terrible things. How come every single person in this show are allowed to step away from the agency for their own good (Jemma in s2, May in s3, Fitz himself in s3), but Daisy isn’t allowed??? And when they all went through those things, they had people supporting them, while Daisy was basically left to fend for herself in confinement. How come she’s told “well too bad. bad things happen to all of us so you just have to suck it up” My god, just show some empathy. Daisy does it, basically expected to, but why can’t anybody else?? Then again, we’re talking about Fitz who literally doesn’t have an empathetic bone in his body and only cares if it effects him. So what if YOU were so hurt that SHE left to BETTER HERSELF and MAKE SURE THE POEPLE SHE CARED ABOUT ARE SAFE after no one else would. I hate this. I hate this scene. I hate Fitz.

Glad I can finally say that^

“Never turned our back” UM FITZ, YOU LITERALLY DID IN SEASON 3.

“I’m doing what I need to do” “But that still affects us” Again, how come they get to guilt trip Daisy with their own feelings but she doesn’t get to help herself with her feelings and trauma?

4x03 Uprising

This is surprisingly one of my comfort episodes. I know, weird one to have. Maybe because it has a lot of Elena and I love her.

Yes Maria. Mack is sexy.

Elena, always the hater of heels. (Me too Yo-Yo, me too)

“I like to vet my vengeance demons before I hop in a car with them”

Of course as they are talking about it, the blackout strikes LA.

Elena’s outfit in this episode is so cute!

“She’s at a bachelorette party. Probably having a good time, drinking and dancing with all those sexy latino guys” Fitz, I don’t like you, especially after last episode, please don’t make me laugh. But also, don’t throw that at Mack.

It doesn’t take a lot to be a decent human being. Elena, you don’t need these people in your life.

THE HAND😂

Love how Coulson’s like “I wish I could have been there to see the flame demon” while Mack is all “Oh hell no”

If people turn on you that quickly in a situation where you are the victim, they were never your friends in the first place.

Love this fight scene! And Elena’s little teasing smile with the knife😁

“At least I don’t have to wear a stupid dress”

“I thought registered people were protected” ANOTHER REASON THE ACCORDS WERE A TERRIBLE IDEA.

Also, the actor who plays Gabe (Lorenzo James Henrie) is the younger brother of the actor who played Justin (David Henrie) in Wizards of Waverly Place. One of my favorite fun facts cause that was my favorite childhood show. He’s also only like a year younger than Chloe.

So SHIELD just has drugs that instantly kill people on hand?

And here’s Melinda May death number 1 of 2.

FINALLY we have a location of the Playground. Washington D.C.

This episode should have been a good form of proof that Mace isn’t a terrible person. He knew better than to believe it was the inhumans and he trusted Coulson.

Only Melinda May can wake up from being dead and just immediately demand to be released from stuff holding her down.

I LOVE the slow mo Yo-Yo shots. Especially cause she looks like she’s having so much fun.

“If that’s your real name” “I’ve had a few”

Thank you Elena for telling at least someone that they should respect Daisy.

He brought meds and bandages for her😭😭

Daisy, I don’t think that’s how you take pills.

4x04 Let Me Stand Next to Your Fire

Jemma, NEVER trust email offers on apartments. Especially if it meets your criteria exactly.

The soft Quake theme as Daisy’s literally bleeding out.

So May’s just there, with nothing to entertain herself with? At least let her watch TV or give her her phone.

May’s just thinking “I could’ve gone out at the hands of anything, but Radcliffe? Really?”

Also the drinking. Why is Daisy kinda having a drinking problem not talked about either?

People will hate Daisy for holding a gun to Jemma. You guys actually think Daisy would have pulled the trigger on Jemma??? Heck I don’t think Jemma even believed Daisy would pull the trigger.

And of course, a vintage car chase in the famous LA River.

Mack the entire chase: “Please, for the love of god, let me work on Lola”

Dorky Coulson with the Grease reference.

“Hey-lo”

“We did everything we could for him” But you guys couldn’t do the same for Daisy??

“Suck it up” Again, stuff not to say to people who are depressed.

Of course, the fire starter guy works at a fireworks store.

“Take a stand with me. Fight back. Take control of your life again” I’ve seen people call this being reckless, but Daisy only wants what’s best for her people.

DO NOT tell the robot that lying saves lives. DO NOT tell a robot that EVER!

“I know. That’s the point” DAISY LITERALLY JUST DOESNT WANT THE PEOPLE SHE CARES ABOUT TO LOSE AS MUCH AS SHE HAS.

ALSO!! The gun Jemma brought that Daisy held to her… WAS AN ICER. So Daisy wasn’t going to kill her even if she did pull the trigger, which she certainly was not going to.

“Huh”⛓🔥

“Did two fire dudes fall into a warehouse full of fireworks”

Coulson, you gotta be dramatic with just throwing the tablet on the ground?

4x05 Lockup

It’s definitely interesting watching this season after WandaVision and Multiverse of Madness. But I will always love shield more for how they handled the Darkhold.

Now that’s May and Coulson’s “stay away from our daughter” fight.

This is probably the only time they talk about Daisy being suicidal, and it’s to degrade her.

I feel like May was the only person to talk to Daisy in a way that didn’t make her the bad guy. She was stern, in her very May way, but she never put Daisy down or called her the bad guy or that she’s a terrible person for trying to protect the people she loves.

4x06 The Good Samaritan

Again, I love that Robbie and Gabe are so close and they are always looking out for one another despite their situations.

“Geese? I have zero geese. We are goose free”😃🦆

May concerned with Fitzsimmons’ relationship. At least she is cause I sure as heck am not.

This flashback is so deep and so powerful oh my god.

UGH Daisy being so supportive of Robbie during this time. If the show had went down the route of Quakerider being a thing, I would have been so down for that! I’m more of a casual Quakerider shipper, but they would 100% be otp if it went down that road.

Mace canonically collected Hot Wheels.

What do you mean it’s not possible Fitz? Ghost Rider just broke out.

4x07 Deals With Our Devils

I like how May has protection gear (the glasses/goggles) while Mack only has his shotgun axe😅

“Impossible things happen all the team” THANK YOU DAISY.

Not the biggest fan of this Simmons side story because 1) it’s another annoying Fitzsimmons separation storyline, and 2) it introduces Vijay (who deserved better) and we never go anywhere with that.

“Melinda, don’t you dare” one of the very few times someone (Mack) other than Coulson calls her Melinda.

“My axe is plenty sharp… and a shotgun”

Daisy is always the best at comforting people a shame that people couldn’t do the same. yes, i will never be over it.

“Mack, what’s gotten into you?” THE FREAKING GHOST RIDER, THATS WHAT

“I hate watching my own demise”

Fitz, can you think of the current situation instead of Simmons or yourself right now???

“It heals itself. Scientifically impossible self healing car” Keep telling yourself that, Daisy😂

But I am glad Jemma was able to help Vijay out. It is a really sweet scene.

“She’s a tool” and you wonder why Aida turned evil other than reading the Darkhold.

Okay, but Ghost Rider Mack is so BADASS.

“Attagirl” Robbie’s seen what Daisy can do and has been through, so he knows she’s capable of doing some crazy shit.

“I love this car” I feel like that’s every car guy in this show😅

“Oh, I am so thick” yes, Fitz, you are.

So could Aida hear Fitz speaking to her, or is that a decision she made herself?

What’s with Fitz and blaming other people for making decisions to better themselves and the people they care about?

Is it mean to say that I don’t care about Fitzsimmons this episode?

But I do love Coulson being a father figure towards the younger members of the team.

4x08 Laws of Inferno Dynamics

As someone with emetophopia, this puking up diamonds scene makes me super uncomfortable.

Stranger Things: Ronance part. 3

Basicamente nesse poste eu vou escrever o que acredito que vai acontecer na próxima temporada para nossas meninas. E vamos lá para a possível parte final.

Minha teoria principal é a de que a relação de Robin e Vickie servirá para nos apresentar Robin dentro de um relacionamento. Como ela age e afins. Nancy não precisa dessa retratação, porque já a vimos estar em um relacionamento e como ela age, quando ela está interessada, quando deixa de estar.

Enquanto eu acho (e espero) que a história da Nancy é muito mais que romance, não há porque fortes personagens femininas não estarem em relacionamentos e o ideal para Nancy é Robin. Quem entrou em sua vida sem nenhum um propósito. Não é o namorado perfeito e primeiro amor dela. Muito menos o amigo e companheiro que estava com ela durante uma grande tragédia. Robin simplesmente apareceu em sua vida. Sem cobranças.

4x01

Para começar é curioso que as histórias tanto de Nancy, quanto de Robin comecem em paralelo. As duas garotas estão conversando com seus amigos sobre seus relacionamentos. Robin está aflita, pois não sabe se Vickie gosta dela e Steve a apoia a arriscar. Enquanto Nancy defende fervorosamente seu relacionamento com Jonathan, enquanto Freddie aponta possíveis problemas que ela não enxerga.

Uma coisa curiosa é que eles tenham se importado em nos apresentar Vickie nessa temporada sem nos dar nada. Porque vamos lá, a aparição da personagem não deve somar nem 10min. Então, porque? Porque não dar mais tempo de tela para o interesse amoroso de Robin? Ou simplesmente ela já estar namorado e então nós descobrimos quem e como é a garota? Meu pensamento? É porque o relacionamento não importa é tudo sobre Robin.

4x01 & 4x03

Logo no começo descobrimos como Robin é perto de sua paixão. Enquanto ela é toda afiada e provocadora com seu melhor amigo, Steve, perto de sua paixão ela fica pateta e um pouco estranha. Falando demais.

Robin começa tímida junto a Nancy. Ela não é provocadora, nem pateta. Ela está conhecendo essa garota que ela só conheceu a distância. Mas vemos rapidamente seu comportamento mudar conforme a animosidade deixa Nancy que estava na defensiva a principio.

4x03 & 4x08

Voltando aos episódios os enquadramentos são curiosos. A escolha de mostrar uma cena com Nancy, seguido por Robin ou vice-versa. Robin ao fundo de Nancy quando ela está aterrorizada, contando sobre a visão causada por Vecna. Toda a cena da biblioteca, que teoricamente deveria transmitir rivalidade entre as personagens, mas só conseguimos captar pura química. (Sei que Natalia e Maya são as capitãs desse navio, mas definitivamente há mais aqui).

Acredito que estamos assistindo Nancy e Robin lentamente se apaixonarem. Então vou pular algumas cenas e voltar a teoria. Acontece que Vickie e Robin foi um prenúncio para a chegada desse romance, porque vamos lá, as atrizes não tentariam apagar a Vickie caso fosse realmente acontecer.

4x08

Na próxima vez que vemos Vickie ela não está sozinha e por um momento temos o coração partido, junto com a pobre Robin. Mas, enquanto Robin foge, ficamos para ver que talvez aja mais sobre Vickie.

Aqui está a coisa, Nancy está namorando Jonathan, porém seu relacionamento não vai bem. O fim da temporada reforça isso. Como na primeira parte dessa teoria, os dois vem enfrentando problemas desde a terceira temporada, quando de certa forma elas saíram para o mundo real e de repente eles não pareciam tão conectados. Acredito que possivelmente veremos uma cena onde Nancy escolherá tentar mais uma vez com Jonathan ou simplesmente Robin vai pensar isso e é quando descobriremos que Nancy tem interesse nela.

4x08

Perto do final do episódio descobrimos que durante um momento difícil o namorado de Vickie escolheu deixá-la, ao invés de ficar e tentar enfrentar a situação juntos. O que parecer ser que acontecerá com Nancy e Jonathan. O fato de ele escolher continuar mentindo para ela é um problemas e não me parece muito bom para a trama se eles são o fim de jogo. Quero dizer, se eles fossem realmente acabar juntos, porque não simplesmente entrar em conflito e então encerrar a temporada brigados?

E vale dizer que o fim volta ao começo. Aqui também temos um certo paralelo. Parece meio óbvio que Robin e Vickie acabaram em um romance, assim como Nancy e Jonathan. Porém, mais uma vez as coisas parecem mais promissoras para Robin que para Nancy.

Depois disso só dá para imaginar para onde vamos. Talvez Nancy fique com ciúme de Vickie? Talvez ela descubra acidentalmente sobre as duas? Se Robin contará ou não seu interesse por garotas para Nancy é o que vai determinar mais ainda para aonde a história vai em relação as duas.

Também vejo Steve apoiador da felicidade de ambas as suas amigas.

Sobre Stancy? Acredito que as histórias precisem ser fechadas. Nancy ainda carrega a culpa pela morte da Barbie e ela não será capaz de seguir em frente até que isso seja curado. O que justifica ela estar mais uma vez atenta a Steve, ela está voltando ao passado. Então assim que ela perceber e entender que Steve não é quem ela quer, ela partirá para curar as coisa com Jonathan e por fim descobriremos o que mais pode estar esperando por ela. E eu espero que seja Ronance.

Rewatching The Ghost

I was really looking forward to move on to Season 4, after the heartwrenching heaviness of the last stretch of S3.

Granted, it’s not exactly fun and games here either.

If brooding was an energy source, Daisy and Robbie could power up the entire northern hemisphere just by existing. And Daisy is basically looking to committ suicide by proxy (😩) which is not my idea of a good time BUT!

Ghost Rider. Quake. Teaming-up. Soon. *incoherent screaming*

Yes. I am this shallow. 😁

Meanwhile, another team-up is in progress and this one will have far more overarching consequences, once a certain dark book enters the fray.

I am of course referring to the Scottish Society for the Emancipation of Digital Personal Assistants and Sexy Androids aka the second collaborative effort between Glasgow natives Dr. Holden Radcliffe, PhD, and Dr. Leopold Fitz, PhD (and their first joined project was the Framework 😬).

Radcliffe, who according to the stipulations of his pardon should not be doing any unsupervised experimentation, has spent the summer doing plenty of unsupervised experimentation. Crazy thinking, here, but maybe someone should have kept a closer eye on him instead of worrying about rogue vigilantes whose only true crime is the abuse of dark make-up. Just saying 😁.

The result of Radcliffe’s tinkering is a stunning humanoid body for his very own Siri. However, while the uncanny valley has been traversed, and then some, the Turing test is still quite a few builds away.

So he entices Fitz’s help, who clearly does know better since he is initially very reproachful. His disapproval, however, doesn’t last two conversations. There is cutting edge science to be made, Radcliffe is a friend and a budding father figure, the still mysterious new Director is not very trustworthy at the moment and A.I.D.A. is even more fascinating when she’s fully clothed, making grand declarations about saving lives.

And it is a tempting proposition: androids taking the bullet, as it were, for flesh and blood agents. If they had had that, friends may not have died. A friend may not have left.

You know the saying...the road to fascist mind prisons is paved with good intentions.

Stuff:

The suiting up scene is pretty cool if a little voyeuristic. This is when the show had been given a later timeslot and coincidentially we get an ass shot. Also, Daisy is studiously keeping her suit zipped just low enough. Rogue vigilantes are sexier, got it? Well. Ok, yeah, they kinda are. 🤣

Beating up white supremacists and shielding civilians from bullets. That’s my girl.

Ghost Rider and his Hell Charger must be some of the very best SFX this show has ever done. His musical theme is also pretty great and, speaking of actual coincidences given Gabriel Luna’s latest (?) role, has a bit of a Terminator feel to it (also Bear McCreary scored the Sarah Connor Chronicles so that’s probably why).

If the munchies was a superpower, they'd be signing the Sokovia Accords as we speak. It’s not? Disappointing.

Mack and Coulson seem very comfortable in their new(ish) field partnership, bonding over the technological feats of the Zephyr One and table games. They also look quite upbeat considering they’ve been chasing after the Earthshaking Wonder for at least six months with nothing to show for it.

Piper is the teacher’s assistant and the loud drill sergeant all rolled into one.

The new director hadn’t even been on screen yet and he had already managed to skyrocket near the top of my blacklist, in such lofty company as Robert Gonzales and Agent Calderon Asshole. Of course, he didn’t stay there *hugs Mace*

Not to be insensitive to the plight of racist scumbags, financial institutions and road infrastructures but, yeah, I’m totally insensitive to it. The Watchdogs are getting a beating? Awesome. They’re a terroristic hate group that’s been murdering innocent people and apparently nobody else is doing a thing about them which is gonna bite everyone in the ass later. Money is being taken from them and their rich donors and redirected to better uses, like funding Polly and Robin Hinton and generously tipping housekeepers? Outstanding. Robin Hood would be proud. A bridge collapsed? Well, that’s bad, I suppose, but unless Mace was spinning more P.R. in 4x10, that was the Watchdogs’ doing and Daisy just kept it from killing people. So, Daisy, attagirl! *insert youredoingamazingsweetie.gif*

The gang’s suspiciousness toward the new director comes close to match the level of Daisy’s current brooding. May doesn’t like him, Fitz doesn’t trust him, Simmons has actually been working to keep an eye on him and Coulson and Mack don’t look nor sound particularly enthused with him either. In retrospect, they were laying it a little thick. I should have guessed the new guy was going to be a decent fellow.

First look at the Framework, that other little science project Radcliffe and Fitz have been collaborating on, this one with full disclosure, intended as a training simulation for field agents and possibly romantic getaway for overworked British scientists. Another great idea that will backfire spectacularly. *glares at the Darkhold*

Poor Nathanson. Nobody that matters seems to like him.

Heard you got a promotion. -- Oh, yeah, and a title. -- Yeah, Special Advisor to the Director in Science and Technology. -- Or SADIST. [...] -- [the director] [...] calls [the random lie-detector tests] his Widespread Infiltration Monitoring Program. -- Or WIMP. Fitz is reveling in the involontary comedy of these acronyms and I’m all here for it 🤣🤣

Shotgun axes and exploding pens. Mack has dimensions even where weapons are concerned. 😉

It's classified. -- Right. Everything is these days. Like every day before Director Dad was in charge, no?

Daisy leaves a fat stack of cash for the housekeepers of whatever place she was renting or squatting in (or maybe it was a motel). Stealing from the racist scumbags, giving to the working people. It’s Skye 2.0, #vanlife included, and I’m all for it. This would be my favorite Daisy ever if she wasn’t also trying to get herself killed. And apparently apply all the black eyeshadow available on the planet. Which is probably related to issue #1.

The Sokovia Accords seem to require treating Inhumans who work for the government as former inmates on parole. Elena (and anyone else) deserves better.

Just ask me to dinner again.-- You know the rules about fraternizing with assets in the field. The new director re-implemented fraternization rules? That’s gonna work out well for everyone, I’m sure.🤣

The Sokovia Accords also require a frakton of paperwork - the approval of a UN subcommittee, no less - for “enhanced individuals” to partecipate in field operations which must work brilliantly in a crisis. 🙄

What the hell? [...] I meant...What.The.Hell?! These are the most articulate non articulate three words ever. 🤣

With the - partial - exception of Coulson, Elena is pretty much the only one who seems to respect Daisy’s choices and won’t try to guilt trip her into coming back, expressing only concern for her well being and actively supporting her. Possibly because she hasn’t known her as long as the others and their friendship hasn’t crossed into found family bonds.

I think I may have stumbled upon a serial killer. -- Ooh. Fun. Yup! I wish Daisy would see it that way.

There's only one thing I want. [...] Nothing to lose. I really don’t like the sound of that. 😨

I don't get the new color-coded security-level rainbow of...what's it called? The “Spectrum of Security” It’s like Mace is making a deliberate effort to be as uncool as possible. 🤣 Also, ok, orange has both red and yellow, so it’s higher. That makes sense. What about blue? Blue is a primary color. Do they go by color temperature for those? Blue is colder than Red, so it’s lower? Or the primary colors are the heads of departments and they have equal clearance? So Red=Blue=Yellow but Orange is above Red and Yellow (what about Blue?) and Green is above Yellow and Blue (what about Red?). Or are they going with the additive model, so it’s Red, Blue and Green on equal footing? But orange doesn’t encompass neither blue or green, so how is Simmons above all the other departments heads?🤪 What.The.Hell?!

I'm mostly in the dark these days. Why don't you ask the Director? Since you're one of the few people allowed or willing to do that. Ouch. Gee, May, first you’re worried Daisy is turning into a serial killer and now you’re kind of accusing Simmons of selling out? You don’t have to assume the worst of them, you know. Oh. Right. Fair enough. 😁

Coulson’s new robot arm has a “see-through-walls” tech that looks exactly like the backscatter of Centipede’s mechanical eyes. Nice bit of continuity.

Is it me or is everyone dressing a little too heavy for Los Angeles in September (going with the airdate)? Daisy’s punishing herself, what’s everybody else’s excuse?

No! I don't deserve to die! -- Everyone says that. Not everyone...😔

Yeah, those Chargers are hard to find. Between Fast and Furious and Dukes of Hazzard, they wrecked a lot of them. Apparently this line is factual. The AoS cars people had a hell of a time finding a working Charger, specifically for the reason given here.

I think the Director broke up the band on purpose. -- Of course he did! As soon as Talbot gave the location of this base to the president, things changed. I knew we'd be divided, undermined, kept in the dark, so I have been clawing for as much power as I can possibly grab to keep a modicum of control over any of this. After all we've been through...Indeed. You should know better, May. This is top shelf Simmons, Grand Theft Toolbox form.

Uh, sorry. What's your name? -- Robbie. But she doesn’t give him hers. Cheeky Daisy, playing tourist in a junkyard in the middle of the night. Bit overconfident about her social engineering skills and natural charm, there, eh?

So. You got the devil inside you too? Before the team-up, must come the dust-up. It’s in the official rulebook for Superheroes’s meetings, you know.😁

Ooh, you don’t wanna open that box, mate...

These guys might kill somebody besides each other. -- Yeah. Us. Mack cementing himself as the most sensible of the lot. An increasingly lower bar to meet as the years go by, if you ask me.😁

May’s team is scarily efficient.

Do it. I deserve it. And here’s a new experience for the Rider and Robbie both, “finally” someone who thinks they deserve to die. Daisy, please kindly notice how the fiery-headed demon who burns bad people for a living snubs your request and take the hint, okay?

The gangsters in the warehouse were affected almost immediately by Lucy. Unlike May, who’s keeping the paranoia at bay admirably for now, just like she was able to hold the Staff of Anger Mismanagement way back in S1 (twice!) without losing control. She’s not the Hate Fu master for nothing.

The ground team is checking for contagion, but hopefully, whatever messed with these guys' heads is no longer an issue. It’s like you guys say these things on purpose...

First time I watched the scene between Jemma and May I hated the way they spoke to each other. Especially how Jemma addresses May.

However, after rewatching I realized May is so damn proud of who Jemma has become. She went from someone who couldn’t lie to save her life, to basically infiltrating the new Director’s inner circle to keep as much control as possible.

Mamma May is so proud, but Jemma did learn all of that from Coulson because May would have probably kicked Mace in the face first opportunity she got 😹😹😹

Ooh, this is a good one! (also not me remembering everything about those episodes immediately 😂)

Anyway, I love every single one of these episodes so much, but I’m going to have to rank them, aren’t I?

So…for some of these, if you’d ask me this right after I finished watching the whole show, before any rewatches, I would’ve placed them higher. But going back and rewatching, while I still love the episodes, they’re greater when it’s the first time you’re seeing it, so I’m ranking based on what I like now, and what I would want to rewatch (and edit. And write fics about) now.

1. The Ghost (4.01)

It’s the one that’s easiest to rewatch. The angst is >>>> (I love it when my faves suffer) and it’s when Robbie first appears. We get Daisy and Elena interacting. We get a feel of what Daisy’s been going through (she’s a vigilante now!!!) and all of Ghost Rider’s scenes aren’t just mesmerizing to look at (seriously, flaming skull looks so good) but Gabriel Luna is such a good actor. We’re back to “Coulson is no longer director” which I LOVE, because it brings back certain obstacles from s1, where the team actually had to go BEHIND the director in order to save people, and Coulson is more of a rebel. Elena was just amazing in that episode. I love Daisy’s beanie. I love all of Daisy’s badass scenes and powers, and I love all her scenes with Robbie. There was a “mystery” feel to s4, and it started with the first episode. It was like a new era of the show beginning and the start of something new :)

2. Melinda (2.17)

We finally learn May’s backstory. Everything about those flashbacks, seeing more of Andrew (and Mildrew), seeing May from before, her fight scenes, her humour, and than the horrifying realization that it was the little girl the entire time? Holy crap, that was good, and completely makes everything we knew about May before, make sense. It was also very smart, the way it connected back to inhumans. Almost every mystery of s1 was connected, and idk but that was very satisfying to watch.

In the same episode, we get Daisy and Jiaying. (Which before s7 came out, I wouldn’t have been as appreciative of, but now I am.) Daisy finds her mom, after a lifetime of searching (and Jiaying finds her daughter, after decades). Unlike when she first comes face to face with her dad, her scene with Jiaying was so emotional, so beautiful, and they were both crying (which made me want to cry). We also get a little call back to s1 Daisy.

“Hoping for something and losing it, hurts more than never hoping for anything” (s1) and “deep down I think you knew [that I’m your mother]” “I was too afraid to hope” (s2)

Daisy opens up about her past a bit, about being sent away, about never spending more than 2 years anywhere (and she’s probably also emotional because she lost shield) which is also similar to that scene in s1, where she mentions she called a foster mom “mom” and how she gets sent away (but in this scene, she actually finds her mom!!!) it’s just…so bittersweet and amazing. Jiaying makes her promises (that she doesn’t keep, but they were GOOD in the moment) and Daisy finally feels at home in Afterlife. Jiaying helps her with her powers, and Daisy actually starts to control them without hurting herself. The “I moved a mountain scene”!!! Jiaying explaining Daisy’s powers, Lincoln being a sweetheart, Daisy making music. It was a good episode!

3. Spacetime (3.15)

Despite s3 being my least favourite season, (no matter the amount of meta I read or how often I rewatch episodes) this episode is one that I really love. I love how Daisy centric it is.

The entire thing about seeing visions and trying to prevent them from happening and being confused about them all, but each one making sense in the end? It was really well written.

The fact that it involves the whole team, that scene between Daisy and Coulson before she heads off. Coulson shooting the mirror, and us realizing it wouldn’t have made sense if he’d actually shot her! Coulson trying so hard to prevent it all (and failing spectacularly)

Daisy’s promise to protect Robin, how each scene led to the next, the final vision that leads to the rest of the season (who will die?) Daisy and May’s parallel fight scenes!

The entire team bonding while attempting to set up Daisy’s vision and act it out (that was so good!!) Fitz trying to explain science stuff but doing a terrible job, and he and Simmons disagreeing!

The whole first scene with the man calling out Daisy’s name and then dying in front of Daisy and her absolute horror and fear once she realizes the actual inhuman man was in danger. (Lincoln being very 💕 and holding her and trying to help her when she panics)

Many others have talked about this episode and why it’s so good (I haven’t done as good of a job 😅) but yeah it was just a really good episode. How it was written, and shot, and how each scene leads to the next, and how much focus Daisy got.

4. Nothing Personal (1.20)

I thought it would’ve been higher up in the list, because it has one of my favourite daisy scenes ever, but oh well.

I’m just going to talk about that scene specifically. One thing I will always love about this show and give it so much credit for, is how they DIDN’T make their female hero and protagonist “forgive” the terrible “misunderstood” attractive male character, or compromise her morals because she has feelings for him. Daisy cared for him, yes, but him ending up being a traitor, killing Koenig, and being HYDRA, was crossing a line, and immediately caused her to push him away and not want anything to do with him, her feelings be damned. Even after he admitted that he DOES actually care for her, her reaction is to turn away and say “I think I’m going to throw up” WHICH MAKES SENSE!!! That’s how a normal person would react to finding out a murderer and traitor has feelings for them. Ward’s look of utter shock and disbelief will NEVER not be funny. I’m so so glad the writers made THAT be her reaction (it was the moment I truly realized she wasn’t going to be written like all those other female protagonists written by men) because it was needed. Even despite the amount of Skyeward skippers, and despite the fact that them as a couple was something clearly the show was leading up to, they had her reject him (and keep rejecting him).

I loved when she hit him and insulted him. When she refused to help him, and her look of disgust and shock when he started going on and on about how “difficult it was for him”, 10/10!!

Her lines: “you did NOT just say that. It wasn’t PERSONAL? God, you might actually believe that. THAT, is the twisted logic they teach you even you sign up to be a nazi.”

and “I’m a survivor” “You are a serial killer”

and “because that was part of the mission, right? Just gonna kick back, and watch ME bleed, until it’s your turn to pull the trigger”

were perfect! Such perfect lines!! I was mentally applauding every word she said, every expression she made, that entire episode.

5. Fun & Games (5.06)

Unpopular opinion, I know, but I actually really loved and enjoyed the first half of s5. It’s disappointing what happened later, but that first half? Amazing. (Not many would agree lol)

In this episode, we finally get multiple reunions after the team’s been separated. It’s super easy to rewatch, feels fun (even while there are high stakes) and I just loved every moment. Daisy’s entire new look, and the arena fight. She looked so good and was such a badass. May also gets an arena fight, and like Daisy, was super badass despite being INJURED and having no powers! That whole scene where Daisy flies, Jemma slits a man’s throat, jumps with Fitz and they land and than all three run off to try and escape? It was amazing. Then they run into Deke, and both fitz and simmons are like immediately defending Daisy (for one episode, I thought fitz and simmons were back to being characters I enjoyed watching. I loved the dynamic between those three in that one episode alone). It was just really cool and the first time I watched it, I was definitely grinning because FINALLY Daisy and Jemma aren’t stuck with Kasius anymore.

So yeah, that’s my ranking. (I write too much XD) this was fun, thank you!
