HELLO EVERYONE! as the year is slowly but surely coming to its end, and i'm now home for the holidays, i thought it was finally time to make another one of these. partially to give a little update on what's been going on in my life and partially as some sort of retrospect for this past year and a look into my plans for next year.

looking back, it's been quite an eventful year — especially when compared to the weird covid years we had to deal with previously. the biggest change was probably my dropping out of college to start a dual studies program in law. i did like my college program just fine ( until i didn't anymore ) but i really feel like law is my thing. and apparently everyone else in my circle of family and friends thinks so as well because i seem a hell of a lot happier than i did before. kinda unfortunate it took me seven years since quitting high school to figure that bit out, but hey, at least i got there in the end. it's been quite time-consuming, and i feel like in those past five months, i've already learned more than i did in all my years of college, but it's fun. i also finally got some new friends my age again. it's also strange to think back that just one year ago i was still struggling financially and just generally dealing with some bad mental health stuff.

i'm actually happy now.

in terms of tumblr and roleplaying, i gotta be honest that i have been sidelining it a lot over the last months. sure, i'm still around but it's not my primary focus, and i'm learning that it's okay not to be online all the time. it's okay to take breaks and focus on other things because as much as i love this blog, the community and tumblr, there are some more important things now. still, i am and always will be eternally grateful to every single person who supports me - whether it is by liking or reblogging posts, sending asks or messages, following me or using any of my stuff. it means so freaking much to me, and i always feel so proud whenever i randomly see my own stuff pop up on my dash because mutuals use it. thank you all so very much! in a similar vein, i honestly still cannot fathom that i almost managed to double the follower count this past year. i'm probably not gonna reach the goal i've kinda been looking at until the end of the year but that's okay. i am so incredibly grateful for everyone here anyway. no matter what.

as for next year - i'm not too sure what i'm gonna do. of course. i'm gonna keep posting memes, and templates and whatever other stuff i feel like doing, but i think my activity is gonna keep on being spotty. i'm also still tempted to do commissions one day ( and we're totally gonna ignore that i've been saying this for over a year now, okay? ) but with the amount of time i don't have, i'm not sure i'm gonna be able to deliver on that. if i do finally build the courage and self-esteem to do that, it will be like an occasional thing that might take some time. however, one thing i do wanna do more of is gifs. i'm not sure what kind of gifs, but i enjoy making them and it's been way too long since i did them so i'm gonna see how i'm gonna incorporate that. or if anyone has any specific gifs they want, always feel free to shoot me an ask or a message. maybe also some aesthetic-y stuff? after all do love making pinterest boards for characters.

maybe i'll also do a blog reveal once i finally set up my multi that i've been planning to work on for months now. since i'm gonna scrap my current main blog ( which i haven't really been active on in a while now anyway ) i'm kinda thinking of coming back to writing and who knows, maybe i'm gonna reveal it here in case anyone would like to write with me.

anyway, this was a lot of rambling, and if you've made it this far, i once again wanna thank you. i know i do this a lot but i really do appreciate you all being here so much, and even after two years of having this silly little blog, it still feels unreal to me that so many people here enjoy what i do.

IMPORTANT FLOP SQUAD UPDATES

This is a rather long post, but if you're a fan of Flop Squad, this will be worth it!

First off, I'd like to thank all of you for your support on the series thus far. You gave me the motivation to turn this into an actual thing and not just a quick joke drawing. I'm glad everyone is enjoying the series so far!

Now that that's out of the way, onto the updates.

Now that I know I want to make this a full series, and that I have a decent idea of how long it's gonna be, I'd say it's time we finally get a schedule in. From now on, I will no longer be posting singular page updates. Instead, I will upload an entire chapter all at once at a set date. (Well, once I know when the date is, anyway.) Inbetween I'll post small filler things, like one off pages or even short stories!

Hey there IRIS fans. It's been a while. More than 3 months to be exact. I came once again to offer you my gifts. Behold…..breadcrumbs! :D

Yeah, that's all I have at the moment. I'm sorry.

I was reflecting on the idea of posting things that are more....small? Don't just post finished drawings. Maybe WIPs or, sketches, or in the case above, a doodle! Basically, I don't need to ONLY post finished drawings. Or drawings. Sometimes I can just. Post words, you know. I had the realization about this a while ago when I remembered that I'm on Tumblr. I can post (almost) anything here without limiting myself. Now, will I fulfill this? I don't know. Maybe I'll do that, or I'll just post it when I have a drawing ready to post. I don't promise anything lol.

Anyway, IRIS! I made this little doodle of Goliath while I was out of the house. I only drew his Pre-Explosion version once and it was in that Transmission 3 drawing. As a joke too. So I tried to do something a little more serious. This time…he has a face! I thought it turned out good. I think I found a good way to do his hair too. I decided to color it (and do a light digital lineart over it) to make it more pleasant. Simple, but it looks nice! (I'll leave the normal scribble unedited at the end of the post) Also, I know that in the only art we have of P.E Goliath it doesn't show him with irises and pupils in his eyes. I drew them here because I thought it would be cool.

Next stop is to practice drawing his body. I have to learn how to draw more muscular bodies. Goliath has to live up to his name (and he deserves the muscles tbh)

It goes without saying that I did this after watching the new chapters of Story of Vegala. And speaking of that: i'm gonna be honest with you: I think this is my favorite part of the IRIS story/lore drops posted so far.

It's quite intriguing to see the very story that happened before everything we've seen so far. It's also nice to receive what I've wanted for a while: Tyrant and Fate Lore. It's good to have more information about two characters that we've known (more or less) for a long time now. Especially their origins (broader origins than just *the first beings that walked the Earth* or *beings that came from distant worlds in search of the emblem*)

SOV also makes me excited for other things. Like, obviously, HOAA:R. Releasing soon! December is knocking on the door, you know. But I also really want to see Jaws of Vegala now. And whatever happens in the story that takes place after GT.

So again, SOV is currently my favorite part of the lore, I believe. The anguish of waiting for the next episodes this past week was real.

I'm talking too much once again, SHIT. Yeah, Pre-Explosion Goliath. He deserves the world (He's NOT a monster, he's just BIG and STRONG, and needs a functioning family *cries*)

I don't know when I'll do my next Big Piece related to IRIS. I had something in mind but I lost the will. But I was thinking about doing something related to Solitude for a while. Hold this thought,then. Until then, I'll sketch Tyrant next. Because I like his official design.

SSO OC intro: Niamh Polarbear

so here's a bit more of a formal introduction for niamh.

so. niamh polarbear. my main sso oc.

she's the main pov character of the storyline/narrative that i have in my head for her and the honestly extremely expansive cast of sso ocs? i've kinda considered that i might start posting that on here in comic form or somesuch cos i love my sso ocs and i wanna share their story with people

that being said that probably won't happen until like next month at the earliest because i am a busy little guy!

niamh actually only exists because i realized one day that you could have an sso account with the last name polarbear and everything kind of spiraled from there? i didn't start making friends for her or a storyline around them until very recently.

niamh is not a soul rider and the soul riders from canon actually don't exist in her universe at all. basically almost all of the npcs from in-game canon either don't exist in niamh's universe or have somehow been removed from the storyline (if they were relevant in the first place).

so, for example, the cloudmill family (and potentially alex as well) still exist, but alex isn't the lightning circle soul rider.

there actually isn't one at all right now, actually. niamh is older than the soul riders by a good amount. so the start of her narrative is in between soul rider generations, like, think a couple of years before lisa moves to jorvik type thing.

niamh grew up on a farm in ireland, but her dad was jorvegian and she grew up hearing a lot about jorvik. she always related to jorvegian folklore a lot.

so at age 18 she moved to jorvik to study jorvegian and kallter folklore, do archeology and study the valley of the hidden dinosaur. dino valley wildlife, the kallstones, all that jazz. and while she was there, she met snowglobe (and geimhreadh, but that came later) and got roped up into all this keepers of aideen + fighting garnok stuff.

but while she's friendly with the keepers and works with them, now she's kind of a rhiannon character. she doesn't live in valedale or work for the keepers, she just does her own thing (she's living in dino valley now) but the keepers call on her for help a lot.

she is very moon circle overall, she's very quiet and selfless and while she's a big softie inside she seems extremely intimidating to those that meet her because. she is tall buff and stoic. niamh is living proof that just because you're nerd doesn't mean you can't be built like a brick shithouse

anyway that's all i'm gonna share about her for now. this is already a very long post BUT i love my ocs a lot and i might drop introductions like this about some of niamh's other friends as well or, like i mentioned, i might start posting the Niamh Story on tumblr once i have the time

FNAF Sun and Moon Fanfic Update: 4 Chapter Drafts Are Done

Good day, folks, I've been making a lot of progress on my FNAF fanfic starring Sun and Moon, but first...Tumblr's been kind of weird for me lately.  Sometimes, it makes my web browser crash, and then logs me out.  Sometimes within seconds of trying to use it.  I don't know what the heck is going on...

Ahem, anyway, rough drafts of chapters 1-4 have been written and span roughly Sun's first month in the Daycare.  They're not quite ready, though, as I haven't done my final edits yet.  Plus, I keep needing to retcon previous chapters as I write later ones, as I keep getting new ideas or realizing that a certain detail should have been elaborated on sooner.

For the first 3 chapters, Sun won't seem quite as in-character.  As mentioned before, he's a brand new AI, so he's still developing his personality and learning how to communicate with us fleshy humans.  I had a lot of fun writing chapter 4, however, as this marks the point at which I'm more able to embrace Sun's silliness.  I also thought I knew where chapter 5 was going, then I came up with some new and better ideas that require some restructuring, but should be well worth it in the end.

So far, my chapters are rather long and span roughly 5000-6500 words each.  Sometimes, writer's block makes these chapters take a while, then a burst of inspiration comes, and I'm able to write 2000 words in one sitting!

Anyway, I'm very excited to eventually start publishing these chapters, but I really want to make sure they're ready before anyone sees them.  As mentioned earlier in this post, I keep needing to backtrack and change past details.  So once I have the earlier sections of the story more "set in stone", perhaps I can start posting the earlier chapters.

I also just wanted to mention two more things.  One, this story will be published on Archive of Our Own.  And two, Sun is gonna go through some hard times in this story, including abuse.  So just a heads up.  I've got a feeling the staff wouldn't always treat the robots very well, especially ones seen as "less important", like Sun and Moon.  (It actually fits in quite nicely with his clear disdain for staff in Help Wanted 2.  It took me a while to get used to Sun's new personality in that game, but I'm warming up to it.  Finally.)

I'm kind of struggling with chapter 5 and onward at the moment.  While I like my new ideas, I'm having a hard time actually implementing them into the story.  I'm sure I'll figure something out if I just press on....  Also, I'm very excited to finally get to the part where Moon is introduced.  (Sun and Moon can't communicate right away.)  I like my take on his character.  But it might take a while for him to show up, as I think a longer build-up will have a greater impact.  Anyway, that's all for now!

Well, this isn't hard - obviously my answer is going to be Flash Thompson. I don't know why it's apparently so difficult - he's not really that complicated of a character. Not compared to a lot of Marvel mainstays. But so many people either make him JUST a bully or JUST a hoo-rah America military man. And by that I mean both fans and canon writers. But Flash contains so many multitudes! He's worked in schools, he's a mentor, he's a coach, he's charisma incarnate, he has so many ways he can help people. And I love him.

Uhhh I'm not gonna do this with an image because I don't save these kinds of things lol. But I did once see a long post (and I mean lengthy) describing in detail - mind you, withOUT actually giving any canon evidence or issues or really anything to back up their argument - why Eddie Brock nor the Venom Symbiote should ever be shipped with anyone else, ADDITIONALLY stating that if you were to, say, add another person to that relationship, that you fundamentally are misunderstanding the whole point of """"symbrock"""" and, largely, Venom as a concept. Uh-huh. Okay.

Hilariously, after I saw that post, it stuck with me but it also spurned me into such a RAGE that I cranked out a massive new chapter of my fic in the space of about two weeks after being stuck for months. It worked, but boy I was so mad about that. I took that kinda personally. Insinuating that I didn't understand Venom. That I didn't understand Eddie Brock. Bull fucking shit.

I don't remember specifically the last person I blocked that wasn't a bot, but I do know that I will block people in the Flash Thompson and Harry Osborn tags at the drop of a hat. ...oh wait! I do remember the last person I blocked. They had some octogoblin thing they were going on about but they had put it in the Harry tag. I didn't wanna see that. So. Blocked!

Wow, loaded question. Probably the racism. And the misogyny. Both of which are still rampant! It's something I, myself, am still trying to work on, so it's not like I'm excluded from my own frustration. But I think what's even worse is people who pretend like it's NOT a problem, that fandom is a magical problem-free space.

I'm also just now realizing that the question says fanon and not fandom but I think my statement still stands. To try and actually answer it though, uhhh I think the worst thing about fanon is when it literally becomes canon. Stop doing that, Big Two.

I don't understand why so many people in the Venom fandom make fics where the host (Eddie, because nobody writes about anyone else) is the one going through the gestational cycle when there is a new spawn rather than the symbiote. It is literally so much funnier and also makes so much more sense to make the symbiote the pregnant one. "but kita it's can-" SHUT UP THE SYMBIOTE WAS THE PREGNANT ONE (it's called "choose violence" asks for a reason 💖)

could we get a peek at the writing process for ILW? like did you make character playlists? pinterest moodboards? storyboards about how scenes will play out that you then have to write or anything like that? are there any abandoned plotlines you initially wanted to add but they didnt make the final cut? and who was the first person to want to create this project? was anyone at all friends before or everyone was atrangers? when did the project start? did yall have zoom meetings or sorted everything out on tumblr through text? sorry for the amount of questions! its ok if you dont want to/cant give answers to everything, i just really admire the ILW team for coming up with this masterpiece a lot haha

Ooh this ask looks fun! I'm gonna add a read more because this is getting long.

So once upon a time in the summer of 2020, the choices fandom was getting more active (I think) because of COVID. A bunch of people were bored and lonely and playing choices. So I got involved in the fandom and replayed It Lives, and it got me thinking about a book 3. I became obsessed with the craft of telling a choice based story. I was analyzing choices books, noticing things I thought they could’ve done to make more impactful choices, trying to figure out how to go from novel writing to VN novel writing where there are multiple paths, etc. So I started talking to my sister who also plays choices and we came up with the basics of ILW. We created the bare bones - character sketches, basic lore, potential endings, etc. I then downloaded renpy and started to teach myself coding.

Cut to January 2021, when It Lives 3 was officially canceled. I made this post:

I got my original recruits from this post, including mod maggie and mod eri! Aside from my sister and me, none of us knew each other before the start of the project, aside from being vague acquaintances, though I think maggie and I were actually mutuals at that point because we'd bonded over noah x mc a couple of times. Once the project was further along, we ended up getting more writers/artists/programmers who are active on the team now, including mod sugar, mod m, mod evie, and other members who aren't mods on this blog.

Anyway, after I got some recruits, I made a discord server and shared google folder. The server has a million channels, channels for each writer, artist, for backgrounds, for music, for characters, for programming, for nonsense. In our drive folder, we have different folders for art, planning, writing, and each writer has their own folder where they put their scenes into. Once their scenes are finished, I copy the scenes into a compiled folder where I put everything together and we can freely edit the scenes.

When we first started, the most important part was planning and sequencing out the story. We didn't start writing until we had everything planned from beginning to end (mostly). We had the endings and figured out how everything would work, we planned out all the lore docs and complex background lore. The only thing we didn't fully plan out beforehand are scene details, but we had the general arc/main point of each chapter from the beginning. While planning, we used to talk basically nonstop every day. We had voice calls on discord once or twice a month on the weekends, and we made a chart with google sheets that had everyone's time zones so we could plan times that everyone could attend.

Anyway, once the planning stages were ready we made the outline. We took the different arcs and interspersed them through chapters. We try to make each chapter have a mostly cohesive arc as well. The outline has the short version, which is split by scene with a small description and an assignment of who's supposed to write it. Then we have a detailed outline that the writers refer to before starting their scenes. In the detailed outline, it has more information about what's going on in the scene. For example (ch 8 spoiler) the short outline scenes were:

Scene 1 - Linc shows up at Matthy's house/argument - Lindsay

Scene 1A - Lincoln diamond scene - Lindsay

Scene 1B - Abel diamond scene - Maggie

Scene 2 - Annie convo - M

Then if you go to the longer outline, there are more fleshed out descriptions. However, often times there's just a short paragraph explaining the scene, like "Linc shows up and gets mad that rowan is with matthias. you find out matthias is lincoln's dad, rowan can either side with him or not. they get back to the cabin, linc and abel get into an argument about matthias, and again you can either side with linc or abel or neither." So important plot points are mentioned in the scene description, but it's still up to the assigned writer to flesh out the scenes. Often times, in our personal writer channels, we'll ask other team members to help us come up with ideas, figure out how to make things happen, improve dialogue, etc.

In addition, we often have little writing parties on the weekends. We have a bot that does word sprints for us, and the winner of the writing retreat will sometimes get some kind of reward from yours truly. You know, to increase motivation and whatnot.

We don't really have pinterest boards, moodboards, or playlists. I just don't bother with that because it's not something that particularly interests me I guess, and I haven't seen anyone else do any of that either. Mostly we just talk a lot and when we finally sit down to write, we're constantly messaging each other in the channels haha.

There are some things we were thinking about including that have been cut or changed. But I feel like for the most part, we surprisingly have somehow managed to keep a lot of our original ideas. I guess a lot of them just evolved from one form to another, so even if it's not the same thing as the original idea, I feel like it is because I was there for the process of how it changed.

Well you know sometimes I don't agree with Sammy either, once she said that you can only shift into Harry potter world(and ofc other "imaginary" worlds)only through sleeping,in your dreams etc,which is wrong bc People here on Tumblr and not only on Tumblr can confirm to you that it's not an illusion but it's the truth

And as Sammy has stated previously,she is on her own manifistation journey and learns new things too,for example almost a year ago she made a video with success stories that had to do with manifesting out of thin air and waking up in a different environment etc,which as she said ,once believed it was impossible, but now her belief changed when she herself manifested out of thin air

jUst trust yourself and make your own rules, Sammy is just another coach,she makes mistakes too you don't have to follow her every word, Sammy has her own beliefs and her own rules as well

do you have any pointers on making characters that you love and are proud of 🥺 i know it’s kind of a loaded question but i feel like i just Can’t make a whole being that i love and want to expand on! i’ve started on many ocs before but have inevitably abandoned them

This is a little hard to answer! I dont have many ocs, make one every 7 years, and I don't really have that feeling of Love and Pride for very many of em.

(i also end up abandoning em, see: how only Talon and Al seem to exist right now)

but anyway:

The process that I've found has helped me develop Talon (who I'm gonna use as example bc he's The recent oc and muse) and other ocs is...taking time to develop em as if they're Real Persons.

I joked earlier this year when I was starting to develop him, that he was Acclimating to my Brain, and that I was locking him in a room with my other ocs while I figured him out, but that actually also helped!

Im big on daydreaming so sticking talon in "a room" with other ocs kinda of helped build on all parties, as your brain gets to play with surface level interactions.

As for the real persons bit, I also mean this as Figurative language and not "I actually think my ocs are real people :)" but adjacent to the daydreaming, I let my ocs sort of tell me stuff about themselves as time progresses. Like, when I made Talon I didnt scramble to be able to fill one of those character sheets with facts about him on Day One. I couldn't tell you right now what his Biggest Phobia is or whatever. (But maybe some day he'll let me know!)

I feel like that ⬆️ would burn me out or make me feel restricted to whatever I came up with in such a short amount of time (which is also why I can't really Make ocs or focus on all of em at once) but it's like with real persons, you get used to and learn more about them and grow closer to em the more you spend time with them...!

Over time just picking a scenario and reimagining it has helped more facts and tidbits and quirks and such come to light, along with plucking things from media that inspires me, or funny tumblr posts that remind me of him (or get the gears turning in my brain), even really exaggerated joke posts make my brain eager to apply the non-joke elements to him, as well as interesting personality traits I notice in other, real people! Or traits from myself! Flaws (physical and nonphysical!) Insecurities! Things that make up real people you may love!

I realize dis didn't really answer anything but again I don't really know T_T ive just made the one new involved oc this year, for the first time in many years. Ive been "developing" him since april and he's still not a "complete" character (+ maybe never will be) but i Do love and am proud of him. Thats another thing I think, it's Okay if you move on from your attempts. I've had ocs I was once focused on that haven't been seen or thought about in Years. Like who knows, Talon could be put back up on the brain shelf to collect dust in a few months. I think that's fine as long as you had fun with it! I hope you create something that Sticks, even for a little bit!

New Weekly Blog Series Announcement!

Hi again everyone!

It gives me great pleasure to announce to you all the launch of a brand new weekly post series here on my blog! ✨

It appears that while I was off on my months-long hiatus, Tumblr has added a poll feature for posts so now users can make polls and followers can cast votes on whatever they want!

May I just say, VERY COOL and I want to use this new feature so badly! because polls are fun and I wanna try it out! 😃

But what to do polls on...now there's the conundrum... 🤔

They are fun, yes, but I wondered, what should I ask you all?

What I came down to was first asking myself what my interests were, what they currently are and just what I love to do anyway…

in time my mind came down to how much I love watching stuff, both for comfort and to expose myself to all sorts of things, and how I’ve seen so much at 22 years old and yet…there is still so much I haven’t seen yet…and that’s when it hit me! 💡

Basically, it’s right what it says on the tin…I am going to be putting out polls where I’m gonna list some movies I want to watch that I haven’t seen yet and YOU ALL are going to vote on which movie I should watch! 🗳️

One of my favorite youtubers does this on his Patreon as well where he asks his subscribers once every month to vote on which movie he'll do a blind reaction on and by the end of the month, he records himself reacting to the winning movie and uploads it for those to watch! 🔥

I wanna do that too, with some differences...for one thing, I'm not a blind reactor so I'm just gonna watch these movies for fun. And MAYBE, just maybe, I’ll write a post about it afterwards, giving my initial thoughts and reactions. I'm also gonna make it a weekly voting thing so I watch a new movie every week and stay consistent rather than wait a whole month to watch something

But yeah, I think this would be great! And it’ll be very helpful for me because my watchlist is very loooooooooong, I wanna wind it down, and I really can’t decide what I want to see because everything I haven’t seen yet sounds so good and interesting in their own way! And the cherry on top? Some of you all have probably seen the movies I haven’t seen yet and so something is bound to come up where you’ll be like “you have to see this!” 

So with all that said and done, the first poll will be coming out tomorrow, and we can get this series started! 🎉 🎉 🎉

I will also be putting out some “ground rules” (for lack of a better phrase) that will further explain in more detail things to keep in mind, the purpose of these polls, how they’ll be done, and things like that…call it another one of my masterposts if you will…and there I will additionally put links to all the polls I will do so that there’s a full record of the movies I’ve put on there as this series continues and I do more polls

Hii!!! Just jumping in here to say that I finally finally caught up with The Common Hours and I was just about to send you this little ask saying how much i like this and so on when i saw that this is the first post on your blog

to the people who comment on every chapter of my wip full months after it started posting: you're the real heroes

what i am trying - and failing - to say is that i really love your story and obviously can't wait for the new chapter but i will wait forever: take your time!!! this fic has this vibe that the last thing it needs is to be rushed. nah. it needs time to breathe, like a good wine! but also. like a good wine, I NEED IT NOW, all of it, i need to know everything, i have so many questions! about castiel's memories, what did he do why did anna say he removed his grace of his own (because this is kind of a game changer in this fic??) and if he did then why, WHY are parts of his grace in seemingly random places that uh oh are NOT random AT ALL but they are connected to his memories with dean???? hello???? i CRAVE answers!!!! why and how was he captured and how and why did dean rescue him??? why did he decide to keep cas in the dark about everything??? why the whole witness protection program????

Apologies if you’ve answered this, but is there a place we can check where you keep sort of an update on what your working on next/what’s coming?

I’ve heard of Mallory & Mount but was curious if there’s even more to be hype about for the future!! (Also I know you’re on a break, please take all the break you need, you’re such an epic writer ❤️❤️)

Honestly this is the place! For a more fast paced environment, there's also the Fae Tales Discord, (which isn't just Fae Tales but all my writing), but that is very spoiler heavy (though it is possible to mute individual channels so you don't get notifications for those). I often use the housekeeping tag here on Tumblr to update people on specific projects etc. happening. You can also search my specific Tumblr for tags to look for things I've written about upcoming projects, like the mallory and mount tag.

I generally don't make a lot of announcements because I don't actually pre-write most of my stories. So I have nothing to announce. I'm not secretly sitting on anything right now except one more chapter of the Augus/Gwyn epilogue. By the time I have a first chapter, for most of my stories that means it's ready to go up, lol.

I post excerpts here which shows what I'm actively working on.

But chapter announcements go here, on the Patreon account, and on Discord. I'll generally announce when a story is getting released here and on Discord, but it usually comes in the form of 'hey I'm putting a chapter up in 2 days' and not like...a very planned out schedule.

Mallory & Mount is different, but that's a while away (as I've said in other responses) due to it needing a lot of worldbuilding, and probably needing a buffer of chapters, which means it might be a good few months away yet.

In terms of what I'm actually working on right now - I'm taking a break! So...technically nothing! Lol. But if I was working right now, this is what it'd be:

Once I commit to a long-form story (i.e. something around 200-300k) that's generally the bulk of my schedule for 1-3 years - so that's what Underline the Black will become.

Unfortunately you've literally caught me between schedules, lol. I've had a pretty fixed schedule for years and years with The Ice Plague (every second Thursday!) But my two big stories have finished, I have no idea how easy or hard Underline the Black will be to write so I have no idea what to expect going forward!

You can generally expect around 25,000-45,000 words (and sometimes more) of writing from me a month though (except this month), so there's always something going up. It works out to about 5-9 chapters depending on chapter-length and story per month. :) I tell everyone about the chapters anyway like I said above, so if you're here, on Patreon, or on Discord, you're gonna find out!

Long post underneath the cut, I basically ramble about A Levels and some new study techniques I'm gonna be trying out over the next few months :)

I'm back from my trip to London with mum (my first time visiting, it was so much fun!!), so now it's time to make a plan of attack regarding my A Levels

My biggest focus will be French speaking - since I was absent from school for the last few days I delayed getting my mark for a little bit, but I know on Monday I'll have to face the music and own up to how badly I did, and then get to work on improving

But I also need to make a solid revision plan for business and maths, and make sure to start revising sooner than Easter. I want to spend my Easter holidays finishing up notes for Unit 2 in both subjects, and doing Unit 1 past papers. If I still have Unit 1 notes to make by Easter then I'll be in trouble. I don't want to overwhelm myself with work during the Easter holidays because I still need rest, I want to make plans with my friends, I'll be doing more hours at work etc

I'm still too shattered to make a solid plan, but basically I have 5 months until the date of my first exam (business unit 1), so every 4 weeks I want to have done at least 2 things to make progress towards the exam, whether it's updating my notes or doing past paper questions on a certain topic, and since I'll be making unit 2 revision notes as I go along (well, I sure hope I will) I shouldn't have too much to do over Easter??

I can use a similar technique for maths, but for French I'll have to do things a bit differently

The exam board is giving us hints for what's on our listening & reading and literature papers, so once I know what those are then I can properly get to work

Speaking. My French teacher is a bit of a wild card sometimes and you never know when he's going to start introducing extra speaking practice - he did that last year coming up to our real exams as well as holding an extra mock - and while in theory it was supposed to be helpful, his scathing criticism every week was not 💀 My biggest problem for this mock was memorisation, or lack thereof, so I'm gonna try a similar 'every 4 weeks' technique and have a couple of standard questions memorised during that period, and if the French assistant gives any advanced notice or gives me a choice of topics to discuss, I'm gonna try choose one I've 'memorised' to test myself.

A final strategy I might try is a variation on 'touch it once' that I saw on a study tips post. The idea in that particular post is that once you get an assignment/have something to do, you should try doing in one go to as much of an extent as possible - eg if you need to send an email, send it in one sitting, do a set of questions in one sitting, do a particular reading in one sitting etc etc and while I like the idea behind it, I know it's gonna be impossible for me without modifying it, so my version is 'touch it once every night until the due date'. Most of my business and maths homeworks are for the next day anyway, but even with test revision this could work. I'm mainly going to be using it for French - if I get a week to write out a set of oral questions, I'll spend the first night bullet pointing what I want to say, language I want to include, pages in the textbook I might want to reference etc, then use the second night to draft Q1, third night writing Q1 and drafting Q2 etc etc

I know this is basically "spread your work out over a period of time" but for me, if something has a Fun Name then I'm more likely to try it.
