I love your writings so much!! I was thinking if you could do some scenarios of tall-man chilchuck and reader
`✦ ˑ ִֶ 𓂃⊹ thank you so so much anon WAHHHH!!! i hope these are okay!! it’s currently almost midnight where i’m at but i wanted to get these out for you!!! us tall-man chil fans gotta have something to eat fr!!! <333

✦ hope these are what you were wanting!! if not, feel free to submit another request for more tall-man chil and i will happily oblige!! :D <333
Tumblr media
✦ Even though he wasn’t a tall-man for very long, you still found yourself enamored with him in this form. You were already smitten with Chilchuck anyways, but this was something very different to the both of you.
✦ The fact he towered over you like this made your heart beat a little faster, and once he found out his effect on you in that way, you were doomed.
✦ It started with him instead resting his head on top of yours, using his height to his advantage now. Sometimes he’d even pull you to his chest, your back to him, and laugh at the reaction you gave him. You didn’t find his teasing very amusing at first.
✦ Even so, you couldn’t help but wrap your arms around his waist occasionally, nuzzling your head into his own back and causing him to jump slightly. You weren’t going to let any time you had him in this form go to waste, so you spent it giving him even more affection.
✦ Your hand sought his out any chance it could, your fingers intertwining and causing him to look up at you. All you gave him was that cheeky smile and a wink, causing him to grumble. The effect you had on him…
✦ If there was ever a time you took a moment to rest, you’d sit between his legs and just admire him. Holding his hand in yours and comparing the size, studying how broad his chest was, noticing little details like the shape of his chin… Chilchuck’s cheeks were always rosy when you gave him that kind of attention, embarrassed to be doted on like that in front of everyone. (Not that they cared all too much; Marcille was definitely squealing at the moment.)
✦ Chil was always so fun to mess with, especially with him being like this. You couldn’t help but pull him down to your height and place tender and sweet kisses to his cheek, before letting go and walking off like nothing happened. (Oh, that’d get him all flustered for sure.)
“Chil…” You’d whisper, hands behind your back in that innocent way you always did when you were scheming something. Raising a brow at you, he walked over to the sound of his name, waiting for you to continue.
Instead of giving him what he expected, you reached up for his neckwarmer, pulling him down until he was level to you. Before he could pull away, you pressed soft, fleeting kisses to his stubbled cheek. Letting your lips trail along his skin until you reached the corner of his mouth, you abruptly let go of him and walked off. Chilchuck scrambled for something to say, anything at all, but instead watched as you caught up to the others.
You knew just how much you drove him insane.
✦ You were used to protecting him before, but now he still couldn’t do much in this state. More than happy to assist, you’d make sure he stayed safe, while also appreciating just how handsome he was. (You’d give him another wink and he’d yell out for you to stay focused!)
✦ Noticing just how skinny he was, especially like this, you’d try and convince him to eat a little more than usual. All this affection and doting wasn’t unusual in the slightest, but he could tell you were enjoying yourself a little too much like this. Not that he’d ever catch himself saying anything about how he secretly revels in it…

Have you been to eat street? I’d wanna know what the dungeon meshi characters think of there :D I went there yesterday and got a caramel apple there for my birthday on monday!
I LOVE EAT STREET !! ive been twice now and its soooo good i always end up glutting myself on seafood
EDIT JUST REALISED THERE WAS ANOTHER QUESTION LOL
i think falin would enjoy it the most out of everyone w so many little treats to try. marcille ends up blowing thru her budget twice over bc falin will see those little pastries in fun shapes and turn on the puppy eyes. they both get a stomach ache from eating too much every time and never learn their lesson
senshi doesnt go, hes appalled at the prices and the questionable food quality at some of the stalls, and he cant put up his own stall bc he doesnt have the right paperwork. the crowds are too much to deal with for him anyways. hes probably friends with a few of the vendors though
its wayyy too expensive and crowded for chilchuck, i think him and laios both get completely overwhelmed by the people and noise so if they do go theyre both sticking to the far seating areas the entire time. falin shares her bounty w them but laios is the only one who tries everything she brings back
kabru collects a whole lot of unexpected free samples and then sits along the riverside bar and eavesdrops. also i think he would like the nut stall based on absolutely nothing but pure vibes

chilchuck tierlist of babysitting fentripp, people who he absolutely knows he can count to not kill his child and people who he knows will end up doing something wrong (even if by accident)
GOOD QUESTION ANON
the original post about my chilaios fankid, fentripp, for anyone who didn't see it
anyone who isn't here hasn't offered or chilchuck hasn't considered. however i can be persuaded to add more entries with compelling arguments for them
S TIER
Kabru - follows the rules to the letter. will have fen fed, bathed, taught, played with, and asleep by all the exact right times. if anything diverges from the plan, it's because fen is a goblin, not because kabru did anything wrong. fen likes when kabru reads to him, he does funny voices.
Senshi - follows his own ideas of what's best, but shockingly good at it nonetheless. very careful, and considerate, and makes sure he knows where fen is at all times. fen likes him a lot and they always have a really good time together.
Meijack - doesn't want kids of her own, but is pretty good with them anyway, and she's extremely protective of her little brother. knows exactly what chilchuck expects, and also has a pretty good sense of what he'd approve of when instructions are unclear. strikes a perfect balance of making fen have so much fun that he doesn't realize no mischief is actually being caused.
A TIER
Laios - tends to stray off the beaten path a little, but will always defer to his husband so he's never gonna get too wild with it. he also loves fen more than life itself and won't intentionally put him in any manner of harm's way, no matter what. maybe doesn't count as a babysitter since he's literally fen's other dad, but as far as chilchuck is concerned, anyone outside of himself is a risk if he's not also there, so.
Falin - fen is obsessed with her, and the feeling is more or less mutual. she loves him so, so much. but... she's also maybe not chilchuck's ideal as far as babysitting goes, because she's extremely susceptible to the puppy eyes. can drop down to d tier for a few weeks if fen manages to lead her on some batshit adventure, but generally speaking, chilchuck trusts her.
Yaad - similar to kabru in his ability to follow chilchuck's guidelines to a T, and fen does seem to like him, but he's not always fully prepared for what caring for a young child entails. still, he's a decent enough choice, if he's available.
Dandan - weirdly good at this. chilchuck left the guild to him for a reason--dandan's got a good head on his shoulders, something that's only become more true over time--but "babysitting" wasn't a skill chilchuck anticipated him having. he might shirk responsibility from time to time, but in a "alright, you can stay up an extra hour" way, not a neglectful way.
B TIER
Marcille - fen is safe with her, and she'll do her best (and so very badly wants to be the best aunt ever), but she tends to overthink things and can get distracted easily. also, the older he gets, the angrier fen gets if she mentions magic, because he thinks elves are abusing the spirits. (she tries to default to gnome magic around him but he still side-eyes her for a while. don't worry, they bond properly when he's more self-sufficient.)
Namari - a little nervous about caring for a kid by herself, but she's actually really fond of fen. she does most things right, and chilchuck's not necessarily ideologically opposed to her teaching his son dwarfish swear words, but she's more interested in having fun than being a guardian so she's not the perfect choice.
C TIER
Flertom - perfectly decent, most of the time. loves getting to care for a child (desperately wants her own someday). can get a little sidetracked playing pretend-mom, though, and doesn't always have the best ideas for what to do, which doesn't always end well.
D TIER
Puckpatti - way too scatterbrained for this job, and also way too eager to goof off in whatever way fen indicates he thinks would be fun. she's alright with her sisters since they tend to override her poor decisions and keep her on track, but by herself, she's a last resort.
Izutsumi - basically an older sister to fen, but this is rarely a good thing. he loves her and they have great fun together, but leaving them alone is a recipe for disaster, and even kabru's had to step in and shut the idea down officially. "don't put me in a position where i have to explain how a cat and a toddler burned down an entire castle wing."
F TIER
Shuro - not good with kids. actively kind of scared of this one in particular. will agree if asked, but that's because he's bad at saying no, and chilchuck doesn't intend to ask. (and laios needs to stop thinking it'll work out for anyone.)
Mickbell (& Kuro) - only offered to be a nuisance, or at least that's what chilchuck assumes. kuro might be able to handle it on his own in a pinch, maybe, but there's no point trying to peel him and mickbell apart when there are so many better options.
Mithrun - with kabru? passable. by himself? absolutely the fuck not.

I have not been keeping up with your account and for that i apologise. What are your opinions on farcille (coming from a farcille lover)
Ah, I’m sorry I’ve been posting a lot lately, I’m trying not to spam post but a combination of Really Really Liking Dungeon Meshi and also Feeling Very Stressed About My A Levels means that I’ve been online a lot recently. Please don’t apologise for ‘not keeping up’!
The answer to your question is that I love Farcille so much, I’m not really good at drawing ship art nor do I get overly invested in ships very often, but Farcille is great and I love it. I really appreciate Dungeon Meshi being focused more on platonic/familial relationships which is something I tend to resonate with more because I’m asexual. However, Farcille is one of the few dunmeshi ships that I enjoy (the others being Kabumisu & Kikimari).
There’s so much I could say about Farcille, the anime already has given us so much, but in the manga + additional media there’s also so many little details. It’s nice to have the most ‘canon’ ship be sapphic :D
Anyway since no one has really been talking about it, they made an official Falin & Marcille AMV to the new ending and I really really love it:

so if dungeon meshi is doing a riff on wizardry more than d&d (which seems pretty obvious), then is marcille technically more of a bishop than a mage? she's got a lot of mage spells, but she's also got priest stuff, though not as much as fallin
that would also suggest that laios is a lord, or anyway becoming one as the series goes on, since he's picking up priest spells as well?
senshi's clearly a fighter, chilchuck's a thief, no major surprises there. they had another fighter and a samurai before the series started, and they pick up a ninja later in the comics, which would cover the whole class list from the original game

Delicious in Dungeon / Dungeon Meshi Episode 1
WOW the pacing on this is great. That was my first major impression of this entire episode.
Overall Score so far: 8/10
Dungeon Meshi hits several sweet spots for things I like in a manga/anime - cooking and well drawn food, and fantasy and dungeons. But I never took the time to try out the manga. Maybe the art didn't stick out for me? I tried reading it before the anime came out, just to get a feel for it, but it couldn't keep my attention.
The anime however.
Episode 1 handled all of what I could get through in the manga, and ITS. SO. CUTE.
Tumblr media
The food is gorgeously drawn, the characters are adorable, the D&D vibes are immaculate, and the monsters and the food they become are fascinating!
I've only given it an 8/10 because it remains to be seen just how many hooks this might snag in my heart if what I've overheard about the manga being 'soul healing' is true.
The first think I can tell is that this is from a slightly older manga, with Marcille being a very classic/traditional tsundere (and/or possibly tsukomi character?). She is the tsundere type that future tsunderes were based off, and so TO ME she's both somewhat annoying and also more bearable than today's tsunderes.
Tumblr media
Sorry Marcille.
I actually didn't like her all that much in the parts I read of the manga, and while her reactions are realistic and serve a purpose to counter balance Laios' nonchalant ability to eat the monsters that try to kill them, her reactions also annoyed me. The 1st anime episode made them much more bearable, and I grew to like her! I hope future episodes do her justice and that she's not delegated solely to being the one to dig in her heels when they eat something new.
Laios is adorable and just really really really wants to share his special interest with his friends, and I love him. He is a cinnamon roll that most be protected but can probably protect himself. I love that he has a cookbook and has just been WAITING to try out some of these recipes.
Tumblr media
Chilchuk is Liam O'Brien from Critical Role and you can't tell me otherwise. Specifically his halfling character, Orym of the Air Ashari, with a bit of Vax'ildan thrown in for good measure. I'm excited to explore his story.
Tumblr media
Senshi is goals. I wanna but a tough old dwarf roaming a dungeon for food.
Tumblr media
I know it will likely get compared with what Capybara and I jokingly call "The Amazon Anime" -- Campfire Cooking in Another World -- and that will always hold a special place in my heart because I stumbled across the light novel when the manga only had about 2 or 3 chapters scanlated online, and never in a million years thought it would get an anime. Where as this is a big name manga that's been running since 2014 and finished last year in September 2023.
Tumblr media
They're both cooking animes that deal with fantasy food, but Campfire Cooking is an isekai and all the animation budget went into making the food look D E L I C I O U S, and Dungeon Meshi is going to be far more well rounded story even while being a gag anime.
It's also got some fun Voice Actors!!
Laios, our hungry knight is voiced by Kumagai, Kentarou, who mostly plays supporting roles in a few popular anime and lots of smaller animes, but has spent most of his career voicing BL Drama CDs >o>
Marcille, our elven mage and tsundere, is voiced by Senbongi, Sayaka - Shuna from TenSura, Mumei from Kabaneri, and Haru from Beastars!
Chilcuk, our cute little halfling rogue, is voiced by Tomari, Asuna who, I IMMEDIATELY HEARD GOBUTA FROM TENSURA. She also play Kyou Souma from Fruits Basket. She has a very cute voice.
Senshi, our fearless dwarf, is voiced by Naka, Hiroshi who is best know as Garp from One Piece, Luffy's Grandpa, as well as Gamabunta, Naruto's giant frog.
Anyways, I'm excited for the next episode! Episode 1 was a good introductory episode, with cooking, hunting, and laying out their goals for the coming journey.
ep2 ep3 ep4 ep5 ep6 <- these will eventually become links, I hope.

Disparate Thoughts on Dungeon Meshi
I'm an anime-only watcher, so no spoilers beyond what's currently aired (eps 1-3) + mild map spoilers for a random 3.5e D&D module (Sunless Citadel).
- I'm not the first nor will I be the last to harp on the English localised title but Delicious in Dungeon sucks. I do, however, think going with the "DnD" naming scheme was a nugget of a good idea (let's face it, "Dungeon Food" sucks too). Maybe "Diners in Dungeon"/"Dungeons & Diners" instead (as in those who dine, not a place where one dines). Or "Dungeon Dine" (like "dungeon dive"). Regardless, I'll just be calling it Dungeon Meshi going forward.
- I don't know if this is coloured by me going into this series with the knowledge that Ryoko Kui loves Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 or a wider ripple effect of eastern dungeon-fantasy conventions being shaped by there not being an official Japanese translation of D&D between Basic and 5e, but the world-building's vibe is old-school D&D as hell. It feels like it was written by someone who maybe never got the chance to play the tabletop game much but spent hours poring over the 1e Monster Manual in hopes of getting a campaign off the ground (and ended up penning a manga instead, game scheduling be damned). There's the disarming of traps, feeling for secret doors, and even the iconic red dragon as seen on the covers of the Basic Dungeon Master's Handbook and 1e Monster Manual being the dungeon boss. Design-wise, the dungeon's layout it reminds me a bit of the map from Ruins of Castle Greyhawk or The Sunless Citadel (pictured below, right).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- The main cast is very tropey at the moment. Quite literally all the Basic classes are covered; the generic white man Fighter (Lv 1, no multi-attack yet :P) as the party face, the halfling/thief, the elf/wizard, the missing cleric, the dwarf... This works for this point in the narrative but doesn't make me particularly attached to any of them. They need another overarching obstacle.
- I generally don't like Studio Trigger's output (not the Imaishi-involved stuff anyway; Gridman fucks) but I respect how bouncy their animation usually is. So, I was excited to watch something animated by Trigger but not (originally) written by them. Dungeon Meshi, however, looks static and resorts too often to Dutch angles to maintain visual interest. There's a bit of an art shift in episode 3 where this improves; more fun "off-model" moments, the movements get a little bouncier, more color harmony. Hopefully, this stays and isn't just a guest director fluke. Form the snippets I've seen on the manga, Kui suffers a bit from "draw background killed my grandma", thus her ability to make her simple character designs emote well has to carry the page. The anime does the opposite; super detailed backgrounds but flat shading/lack of texture on the characters creates a need for them to over-emote with a "screen-shake" effect in order to stand out from their surroundings, which I could see getting old fast. The main event, the food, looks better in the anime than in the manga due to colour and animation bringing it to life.
- I don't usually laugh at Japanese comedies because they're either too slapstick for my tastes or too pun heavy for my JP comprehension level. Dungeon Meshi gets a point for making me "lol" more than once.
- Finally, a good panty shot:
Tumblr media
- I watched episode 3 dubbed. EN Marcille > JP Marcille (I say this as a stickler for subs). The rest of the dub cast is fine but I'm probably sticking with JP because JP Laios' ability to scream > EN Laios (EN is a great generic white man, though). I'm not familiar with most of the JP voice cast. I think Chilchuck is my fave in JP.
Both languages have little breathing room between lines of dialog and I was hoping the EN dub would play around with the fact that the character speaking isn't necessarily the one on screen (thus less lip-flap matching, especially for Senshi, who has few indicators that he's actually speaking even when he's onscreen) but alas. I'll do another one of these if I have more to say later in the season 🥂

watched episodes 7-9 of ~*AUTISM COOKING DUNGEON*~
i fucking called it
both in himbro nearly getting himself killed via previously unknown monster shit he decided to fuck with, and his sister also being A Freak but in a slightly different flavor
the way she bounced around between things and was just "DIRT!!! :D :D STICK! BERRIES :D :D :D" is giving big indicators there is SOMETHING adhd or similar going on up in there. even the way the other girls were semi-ostracizing her and her ditching class to do something she actually enjoys
also lmao at the reveal of how she and mage elf met (marcille?). like talk about falling ass-backwards into EXACTLY what you were looking for. between himbro, his sister, and senshi she's learning EXACTLY what she wanted to know back then
good to know that even senshi isn't actually a master at this though. he's just more familiar with the concept and making it WORK. means they ALL can learn from this.
but now i'm also wondering...so far the other three have all made a comment about "the first time i died" or something similar. meaning ALL THREE have died multiple times. so has senshi ever died and been brought back? it kind of seems like not but maybe part of why he doesn't like magic is because he HAS died once and thought it should have stuck so he'd ~become one with the dungeon ecosystem~ or whatever
anyway, still looking forward to more about chilchuck (one 'l' not two, apparently). and i was promised a cat person at some point unless that was someone's oc
but i am still weirded out by that living painting room. cause like...that felt like a hint to something bigger. like it could just be a red herring. but it FELT like it was trying to give us clues about the castle itself and its curse. not sure if its the name drop of the prince turned king or the details in the elf's appearance. it just...felt important.
and like, that was a fairly young elf. and he stayed young during the entire time a human went from newborn to married and newly crowned ruler. so if elves grow THAT slowly... and this one was that pissed that quickly. and THAT POWERFUL. idk it just feels like something to remember for later

Thinking about Dungeon Meshi D&D 5E classes, which I’m sure has been done before. However I have a special interest in making D&D characters, so this is what I’m doing! Yippee!
A bit of a long one.
Laois’ Party:
Most of them are easy ones. Chilchuck and Izutzumi are both rogues I’d say, Theif and Assassin respectively. Marcille is a wizard, obviously, probably Evocation? While she does do necromancy, she’s clearly most comfortable with explosions. Falin is either a cleric, she even has the classic Clerical Mace, or a necromancy/abjuration wizard. Senshi is probably a basic fighter. Champion with protection style maybe? He could also have ranger levels. It’s hard to say for me, since much of his utility is out of combat.
Now Laios… is hard to say. He clearly occupies the role of the Human Fighter Leader, however mechanically I’m not sure. Hunter Ranger is a possibility, and maybe Paladin of some kind? Or potentially a fighter/cleric multiclass. I’m leaning towards Hunter Ranger though. Great weapon or dueling style.
Kabru’s party:
Kabru is a battle master, dueling style. Daya, probably champion great weapon master? Kuro is either a fighter, or mechanically he could be a beast barbarian but I don’t think that’s necessary/doesn’t fit his character.
Rin and Holm are also wizards, Rin is seemingly also evocation while Holm is conjuration. Although Holm could also be a cleric of some kind. And Mick is seemingly another thief rogue.
Tansu Party:
Not super remarkable. The Tansu’s are both clearly wizards. I’d say Namari is a classic Champion, either defense or great weapon fighting style. Kiki and Kaka don’t do a ton of fighting, but do both seem to be classic fighters as well.
Shuro’s Party:
Shuro is another fighter… you truly hate to see it. Battle Master dueler like Kabru I’d guess? They’d take very different maneuvers though. Onto characters with interesting non-fighter skill sets, we’ve got Maizuru, conjuration wizard, and Tade, barbarian, great weapon fighter. Hein and Benichidori… back to fighters again. Maybe levels of rogue?
Canaries:
Like all of the elves are wizards… easy, but boring to analyze. Lycion is the only exception, path of the beast barbarian or fighter. That’s it, I’m done with them lol.
Special edition, Dungeon Lords:
Thistle, Mithrun, and Marcille are all wizards, and Laios is only very briefly a dungeon lord. However, I think it’s interesting both the differences and similarities to Warlocks in this. While a Lord does gain power from the demon, even carrying a book Tome of Shadows style in Thistle’s case, it really is more like genie-wish style power granting. I think it’s a really interesting approach to pact-making as well, a pact in which the character doesn’t know what they are agreeing to, and slowly becomes a different person over the course of the game.
I would be interested to see how that could work at a table… maybe the player would create an document of all their characters desires, and the dm would occasionally erase them, especially around when level-ups occurred or during story beats when the player does something the demon doesn’t approve of?
Anyway, that’s my thoughts on that! Feel free to hit me with opposing opinions or ideas, I just generally like thinking about D&D character building and dungeon meshi.

i feel like a circus clown the way im crying over how falin is dead afffff and that laios lost his fucking sister except the story doesnt frame it that way at all and nobody else fucking thinks this but like THIS HAS TO BE THE CASE so im just bawling and its like. well honk honk i look the fool and play the part too
Tumblr media
^ like this is making me want to THROW UP
and like i can only remember the instance from the sorbet episode where laios tactlessly say shit among the lines of "im glad my sister died :D" tho i swear he said smth like that at least one other time but i cant remember it.. but anyways when he says stuff like "we could only be eating this delicious food bc falin died!", hes saying some real shit, bc it echoes his other line of "im prepared to take and to be taken / have something taken from me" bc he gained a lot from falins death! he met senshi, he gained chilchuck's honesty, became closer to marcille, BECAME A KING, etc;
Tumblr media
but it came at the cost of his own sister. (and the curses laid upon him by the demon.) like his sister is dead... his sister who was his strongest link to humanity. like they were two ostracized children in a neglectful environment and the dependency between the two has been forcefully severed and it can never be recovered. to gain all these wonderful things and to grow as a person, laios had to lose something in return 🥲

D V and Z for the ask game? :D
under the cut bc idk if this counts as ship hate and it got really long
D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.
hika ag... (not putting the eng ship name for search reasons) i already knew the devs were gonna push them the moment i saw the crossed paths illust released but ultimately it felt disappointing to me in the game orz i already don't like the feeling when a certain ship is being pushed if they aren't going to go the whole mile and make it canon but in a game like octopath where the protags have such minimal interaction i don't like that it feels like these two got special attention (they have the most banters together tied with thro/oche) and yet their interactions aren't.... interesting....! some of hikari's story banters with her literally feel like he could be talking to a random npc instead and the things hikari says in agnea's story ring very hollow to me 😞 given like the fact that they both lost their mothers, illusts show hikari dancing with her or playing the flute (even the lyre in a concept art draft), it's disappointing to me that their ingame banters don't touch on this at all... complained about their crossed paths story another time but honestly for all this complaining i don't hate them i just feel very disappointed and sort of like they wasted their interactions together ngrhg
V - Which character do you relate to most?
KINDA dungeon meshi spoilers... completely off topic from what i usually talk about but i like marcille's character arc and her goals arising from her fear of being left behind. i'm gonna keep things vague since dunmeshi just got an anime and is getting bigger and also since i don't want to go too deep into why i relate to her but stories about learning to value the time you have with friends while knowing it will end one day (frieren is another obvious one) are very close to me
Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go!
sorry when you say ramble i think it will always be complaining-adjacent with me but after playing agnea ch3 with english voices i got so surprised at the difference between eng and jp giselle that i got compelled to make a comparison of it and it JUST... makes me so sad that certain chars will be more likely to be overlooked or overshadowed, even liked/disliked depending on localization efforts o<-< i know it's unrealistic to ask people to play in multiple languages bc that isn't feasible for everybody but honestly it's jarring sometimes how different certain characters or scenes can come off as... i struggle with interacting in fandom spaces bc i don't always agree with english localizing efforts (and i get it, it really is a difficult job and by no means do i think they did a BAD job at it most of the time) but because so many people who will interact with my posts have only been exposed to that version, i'll feel very... alienated?? by some interpretations that i see. but i mean ultimately interpretation is more subjective and i think localization only nudges you to one side or another, so i still just do the same as i would do otherwise and find people whose content i enjoy... that was a lot of rambling but did you know that in hikari's ch2 banter with castti the english changed his lines quite a bit ?? i've already talked about how i think eng hikari is more expressive in his voice acting but i think it's something that was present in the text first and i... AM VERY MIXED about it bc i do think it works Really nicely in certain scenes, but i still like how restrained jp hikari sounds because i think it suits him more... anyway this is just a small snippet of the kind of thing i think about when looking at localization like in the end it's just Different versions, i guess i do look at the original jp version as more accurate to the creators' intentions but i think having an "official" interpretation in english can be nice and valuable in its own right.. if i didn't think so i just wouldn't play these games in english at all lmao (by comparison i don't play korean games in english bc at least the ones i've gotten into don't have great localizations so i don't think it adds much merit)
crying the last one is so long but you asked me to ramble 😭 LMAO... but ty for leaving an ask!

Ooooooo did you fully catch up with dungeon meshi :D what are your thoughts
I DID NOT I FORGOR WHERE I WAS BUT IM DEFINITELY NOT AT THE END however here are some character thoughts ill try to go more in depth soon but
Laios:My husband like we're literally getting married i love him so much. I think people overexaggerate his weirdness and flatten his character in a very frustrating way like that which makes me sad because hes genuinely such an interesting and refreshing protagonist in a way where like he just does his own thing the whole time he doesntcare . AND he loves his friends and food and monsters life is beautiful and also he may become a king which is pretty awesome. I fucking love him bro i do wish he was a freak more often though to be honest because its funny but you know i hate fanon him for that reason too though so
MARCILLE: I LOVE HER SO MUCH SHES WONDERFUL SHES SO CUTE AND SMART AND COOL I LOVE GIRLS LIKE HER THAT ARE LIKE idk how to describe her character but its good guys. I think her fear of death and losing her loved ones is really interesting and i really like her dream sequences and stuff like that. i love when the rest of the group comforts her its very cute. i think one of my favorite moments with her is when laios comforts a kid version of her in her dream or when she was done using everyones dead bodies against the rabbits and brought them back to life and broke down about it that was soooo. Omfg i fucking love marcille. also shout out to marcilles succubus she has my taste fr. Oh Also shout out to laios's succubus that looked like a crazy beast version of her that was awesome. Also her relationship with falin is so forgive me for saying this word but "wholesome"
Senshi: Backstory interesting. He is my grandpa. that is all i love him but i dont have much to say about him
chilchuck: My adorable divorced man i love how grumpy he is sometimes and also his dynamic with izutsumi (who i love btw i love her little catgirl self) is so adorbs and i just like him in general hes great i have more to say but i forgor
KABRU and MITHRUN: putting them together becauase i cant sum up my thoughts on each of them individually cuz it would be really long and insane but to keep it short THEY ARE BOTH SO INTERESTING oh the dungeon sorceror master person too. All cool i like them esp kabru i like how much he hates laios and mithrun is so chill and kinda scary but also just has a cool vibe to him very nice
Falin: Fawin T_T so many thoughts but cant say
Anyway theres obv a lot more important characters than this but this is just whats in my mind rn

~ mutuals I want to know better ~
That was quite the surprise @easy-revenge ! Thanks for the tag!
Last song I listened to: Breezeblocks by alt-j and the whole time, I was thinking about Falin and Marcille from Dungeon Meshi… I mean… “Please don’t go, I’ll eat you whole, I love you so […]”
Fav colour: hmm, tough choice. I’m more of colour-hater than a colour lover (I don’t like purple, even if I use it all the time for shading, lol). I guess I do like brown a lot, when accompanied with blue. Nice combo, no matter the shade. I like brown tabby cats best (I’m more of a blue eyes lover, though)
Currently watching: some seasonal anime, like Mushoku Tensei season II.
Currently reading: I’m giving Dungeon Meshi a re-read, with the official French translation this time around. I’m taking notes for fanfic writing. Otherwise, Brave New World is waiting on the nightstand.
Sweet/savoury /spicy: never heard of savoury as a flavour, aha. Is it umami? Probably is. In any case, I’m not picky and I like them all. What I’ll eat will depend on my mood.
Relationship status: single and not really looking for a partner. I’d prefer to be well on HRT before trying to find someone, if I ever bother to go looking. I’m more of a “ride or die” type of person, so casual stuff is out the window in any case, lol.
Current obsessions: *looks at my blog* Dungeon Meshi, ahaha. I can’t wait for the anime, I’m sure Trigger will do well. Kinda hoping for a full-series adaptation! Otherwise, Chainsaw Man is still on my mind, always. I have a bunch of CSM Beastars!AU WIP, fanart wise.
Last thing I googled: “Akita Inu”, as I was talking with a relative and they said they saw a tall Japanese-type dog. I showed them pictures, to which they said “yes, that’s the dog I saw!”
Currently working on: many things… Completing my current sketchbook for student credits, writing a “scientific Pokédex” for student credits (an excuse to look into many animal species and expand my own knowledge for work later on, all while having fun with speculative biology), re-reading Dungeon Meshi, analyse the characters and write fanfic for them (starting with a Laios and Lycion thing… I haven’t decided what yet), learn basic video editing so I can make the Dungeon Meshi edits I want to see (Talk by Hozier with the Winged Lion *cough*), write for my OC on Master Poké (RP forum, there’s a summer writing event going on). I've also had this idea for a Skyrim fanfic, featuring a werewolf Khajiit who has lived a big part of their life in Falkreath. Shit happens. Anyway… I won't be able to complete all of this before classes start again *sigh*
tagging: @catcrow236 @rachaeltad @brn-t if you want, of course. No pressure! :D
