Oh so you're not an "active" anti anymore? What made you finally stop? Because I specifically remember your side blog where you said you used hidashi to copeship but got mad at those who made liked it not to cope ship, and you were one of many who supported the attempted suicide of a SU artist.

I still have brain cells and believe shipping abuse, incest, and pedophilia is bad. By not being an "active anti" I just mean I'm not obsessed with pro shippers the way u are obsessed with me. In the past, I did use hidashi to cope. It was a maladaptive coping mechanism. It wasn't good for me. And like I said in my last answer, I never supported the attempted suicide of anyone.

WANT IT OR NOT we are also part of the fandom, even if it burns you, we will be there, watching the show, creating content, supporting the creators and also buying official merchandise :).

Look ... it's fine that you don't like the SHIP, you can hate me as much as you want, I don't even know who you are and I don't give a shit about knowing you, but do me the damn favor of removing the name of the ship from your shit post (post CULERO, in Spanish xd). I don't care that you don't like it. I'm interested in the SHIP, not you ... and never you. Just as you ask to remove the tag with the name of the series and separate it from the tag with the name of the ship, we can also demand the same, just so that we stay as far away from each other as possible. I'm sad and angry, I want to find more people, more fanarts, but you make it impossible ... I don't want to see your damn shit anymore.

Tumblr took away the right to post fanarts nsfw, but they won't take away the right to have our ships, whether or not they are problematic.

Any time non-white fans talk about the harassment they have faced from white, female shippers, we usually have people who don’t believe us or act as if we’re overreacting.

When Big Hero 6 came out, people were shipping Hiro with Tadashi. Hiro is a minor, Tadashi is an adult and they’re related. When I called this out, I had ADULT women telling me I was being mean. Again, I was calling out a pedophilic, incestuous ship that was filling up the tags. They didn’t care if minors found it or if people who had suffered abuse saw it. People were furious that I didn’t want to see this ship and I had to turn anon off for a few days because my inbox was filled with harassment from anons. It was utterly ridiculous.

Yet apparently, my experience doesn’t mean squat and I’m being too sensitive.

I'll never get this obsession some people have with making every godamn pairing as fluffy and sweet as a marshmallow cloud.

Words like “problematic” or “unhealthy” or even “abusive” being thrown around like popcorn everytime a ship dares to step out the lines of your neat little box of acceptable fiction. And it is fine that you say all of these things, really. For most of the time they are absolutely correct. But the problem is that all this words come covered with accusatory tones and allegations that just make no sense, meant to hurt and shame the people making and consuming the entertaining piece that was made. Be it fanart, fanfic, headcanons or even just expressing their love for a ship. I just want to know at what moment did we start equating artistic freedom with “being an apologist”. And who decided which things are and are not okay to be written/drawn/spoken about? Art doesn’t follow your rules. Art follows NOBODY’S rules, and that’s what is great about it. And as far as I’m concerned nobody died and made you people “the supreme judges of all art forms in the world”. Art is free and inexcusable. Fantasy is what makes us free. No regulation, no rules, no dictatorship. You can make a utopia in there, or a post-war decaying world, you can make a surrealistic adventure or just write about your everyday person, you can make clouds heavy and rocks weightless and it breaks my heart everytime I see someone trying to dictate what someone can and cannot put their artistic effort into. If it’s problematic, if it’s terrible, ugly, harmful, devastating, unacceptable. Let it be. The fantasy world is where it belongs, it’s where it SHOULD be. Cause when it gets to this side, when it stops being a dream (or a nightmare) and turns into reality THEN it causes real damage. A painting of a gun is just a painting. The bullet from the gun that is pointed at your head when you walk at 3 AM in a dangerous neighbourhood and that will make a hole in your skull, that, that is the real danger. The painting didn’t cause the violence, the violence caused the painting. And we bring this to our fantasies, cause in there we can simulate. We can try to understand. We can deconstruct and construct again. We can look it from all the angles and perspectives we are denied in reality. And to deny fantasy’s ugliness is to deny reality’s nature. You don’t live in a perfect world, I know you’d like to, but you don’t. You can cover your eyes, you can cover your ears and cover your mouth. But the evil will be always there. And it will make it’s way to fantasy, cause fantasy is fabricated out of reality. Always was and always will be. And if you think you’re somewhat eradicating it by throwing all this insults and accusations at people that DO understand the distinction and the connection between these two worlds, you’re most likely just creating even more evil. Censorship is the real evil. Fantasy is not good, but it’s not evil either. It’s just what it is. So maybe you should take a deep breath and step down of your pedestal and take a look at the world. It is not perfect, but it makes fantasy perfect by being so.

Drawn Characters - illegal or not?

In continuation of a previous post explaining the legal status of fanfiction with explicit sexual content. See that post HERE.

An even bigger topic of debate in fandom circles. Is the drawn sexy stuff of underage characters illegal or not? Many would immediately claim yes on a basis of intuition, or a rough understanding of the child porn laws in the US. But lets not be so hasty and take a closer look at the actual U.S. Federal Law (U.S. Code or USC).

Disclaimer: I am no laywer or otherwise an expert on US legislation. I just looked up the law - as anyone could. This work will only discuss the legal aspects and will not in any way delve into any form of ethical consideration or judgement.

Definition of Child Pornography

In my previous post I copy-pasted sections 8 and 9 of USC paragraph 2256. I will do the same now and consider it with respect to drawn images.

Mind the interpunction and phrasing here. A piece needs to fulfill condition A, and then B or C or both to be child pornography. A is out of the question, unless you use an actual child model posing for you in explicit ways. That alone would rule out virtually all drawn works as child pornography.

There has been some ambiguity about section 8 (B). Especially what counts as ‘indistinguishable’ could be argued to include drawn works. However, section 11 clears any ambiguity by further defining ‘indistinguishable’.

Note the final sentence: “this definition does not apply to depictions that are drawings, cartoons, sculptures, or paintings depicting minors or adults.” This means that any drawing or cartoon or painting does NOT fall under 8 (B).

C is clarified in section 9.

As stated in 9 (B) one would not have to prove the identity of the minor in question. But 9 (ii) is clear: the minor has to be recognizable as an actual person.

Illegal or not?

Assuming no real minors were involved in the creation of drawn work, it does not satisfy condition 8 (A). Furthermore, condition B is explicitly explained in section 11 to NOT include drawings of minors. Lastly, condition C is also not applicable, as it does not involve an actual person as stated in 9 (ii).

Thus we have to conclude that drawn works are generally not child pornography.

However, the line quickly gets hazy when one considers life-like or realistic paintings or drawings. It could then be argued to be an identifiable person! Even if it’s in fact completely made up, the prosecution does not have to prove the identity of the minor. So as long as it really looks like a minor - an actual person - it can be considered child pornography.

TL;DR No. Cartoon-like drawings of underage characters doing the do is NOT illegal under U.S. Federal Law.
